WELL - THIS ALL STARTED BACK IN APRIL OF 2019 - WHEN I TOOK MY JEEP IN - IT WOULD STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN . AROUND 5000 MILES - NOW THIS IS A LEASE VEHICLE - SO I TOOK THE JEEP IN EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT RAY LAETHEM WHAT THE VEHICLE WAS DOING AND HE CHECKED THE OIL AND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE - SO WE STARTED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST - NOTHING AFTER THAT WAS RECORDED CORRECTLY - EVERY TIME I TOOK THE JEEP BACK A THE 1000 MILES THE OIL WAS LOW AND THEY WOULD SAY COME BACK EVERY 500 MILES - TIL THE 3RD TIME I TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NO OIL USED - AND IT WAS A QUART LOW - I DID CHECK IT BEFORE I TOOK IT IN - IT WAS LOW A QUART LOW -ALSO TOOK TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP NORTHLAND JEEP , CHRYSLER . THEY ALSO STATED THIS IS NORMAL FOR THE ENGINE THAT IS IN MY JEEP. SO I TOOK THE JEEP BACK AGAIN TO NORTHLAND - REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER - WAS TOLD HE IS NOT IN - SO THAT THEY COULD CHECK THE OIL FOR THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE SERVICE GUY STATED WE DON'T DO THAT . WE PUT THAT YOU REQUEST AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THEY DID THE OIL CHANGE - SO AGAIN NOTHING RECORDED CORRECTLY - MY JEEP USES OIL ( "ITS NORMAL) , IT USES A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES .THE CASE IS CLOSED - PROBLEM NOT FIXED
THE CAR WONT START. WHEN PRESING THE PUSHSTART BUTTON IT WONT WORK. MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN SAYS CAR NOT IN PARK AND WONT START NOR SHUT DOWN. NO WAY TO MOVE IT OR SHUTTING IT DOWN.
THE VEHICLE AT ANY KNOWN TIME GOES INTO THE PARKING BRAKE MODE AND STALLS! THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM AND TWICE WE WERE ADVISED TO CHANGE THE OIL? THE OIL CHANGES WHICH SHOULD NOT EVEN BE ENTERTAINED HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEPT UP TO DATE. MY QUESTION SHOULD WE CHANGE THE OIL BEFORE OR AFTER THE SEVERITY OF THE ACCIDENT THAT CAN OCCUR DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION. AND WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE PEOPLE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEM.ARE YOU WAITING TILL SOMEONE DIES BEFORE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT? THAT WOULD SURELY SORE SALES? NOT UNDERSTANDING HOW THIS IS GOING ON SO LONG.IT HAS OCCURRED ON THREE INCIDENTS NOW HIGHWAY AND SIDE STREET , IT SHOULD NOT MATTER IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
2018 JEEP COMPASS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE PURCHASE NINE MONTHS AGO. I WAS ON A CITY STREET BOTH TIMES AND IN MOTION.*DT*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SEVERAL UNKNOWN INDICATORS FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE TURN SIGNALS AND BLIND SPOT MONITOR FAILED TO WORK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER WAS IN A CONSTANT LOOP OF TURNING ON AND OFF. TALLAHASSEE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (3987 W TENNESSEE ST, TALLAHASSEE, FL 32304) SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT FOR DECEMBER 9, 2019. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE CARE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. ONCE WHEN TAKING A TURN, BUT MOSTLY WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND SERVICE AUTO START STOP WILL COME ON AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE CAR WILL STOP IN THE MIDDLE IN THE ROAD. WHEN WE TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD US THAT IT WAS THE BOTH BATTERIES. WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR LESS THAN ONE YEAR. I COULD UNDERSTAND ONE BATTERY, BUT WHY WOULD BOTH GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. IN RESEARCHING I SAW THAT THERE WAS VOLTAGE REGULATOR RECALL; HOWEVER, WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT THIS DOES NOT INVOLVE OUR VIN. THESE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED AROUND TOWN.
ENGINE OIL CHECKED LOW 3,000 MILES AFTER LAST OIL CHANGE. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH MULTIPLE ONLINE REPORTS OF THESE VEHICLES BURNING OIL RAPIDLY. OTHER REPORTS STATE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHILE TRAVELING WITH NO WARNING INDICATIONS AND THE DIPSTICK REGISTERS NO ENGINE OIL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JASON LEWIS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 120 AUTO LN, SPARTA, TN 38583 HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO EAST TENNESSEE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 2774 N. MAIN ST, CROSSVILLE, TN 38555, WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THERE WERE MANY UNSPECIFIED FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE KEPT FOR OVER A MONTH FOR COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SUGGESTED THAT THE CONTACT LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DEALER AND REQUEST A LOANER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
PURCHASED AT THE DEALERSHIP @ 5K..ENGINE STALLED @ 18K MILES AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY.. CHECKED AND THERE WAS NO OIL ON STICK.. HAD TO BUY OIL TWICE JUST TO TAKE MY JEEP TO BE SERVICED AND HAVE AN 'OIL CONSUMPTION TEST' PERFORMED MULTIPLE TIMES, WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS FINE.. 11K MILES LATER..'SERVICE ENGINE,' 'SERVICE TRANSMISSION,' FLASHES ON DASH. NO OIL ON STICK WITHIN 400 MILES OF NEEDING AN OIL CHANGE.. ENGINE WON'T TURNOVER/START. STRANDED WITH <30K MILES & HAVEN'T HAD THE VEHICLE A YEAR.
I PURCHASED MY JEEP COMPASS NEW. SINCE I HAVE HAD IT, I HAVE TAKEN MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS IN FOR REPAIR DUE TO LOSS OF OIL SEVERAL TIMES. THE LOSS OF OIL WAS FIRST NOTICED BEFORE THE FIRST 2,000 MILES ON THE CAR BECAUSE OF A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THIS CAR HAS EVEN STOPPED ON ME ON WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH OTHER LIGHTS. IN THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE IT DID START BACK UP EVENTUALLY. WHEN IT DID, THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME. RECENTLY, (11/16/19), WHILE DRIVING THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKES LOCK UP. THE CAR WILL NOT BUDGE. IN THIS INSTANCE THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS CAR THAT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. THESE ISSUES SEEM TO BE COMPLETELY RANDOM AND WITHOUT WARNING.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT AN UNKNOWN FUEL TANK COMPONENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,813.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LARRY H. MILLER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM RIVERDALE DEALER LOCATED AT 1481 W. RIVERDALE RD, RIVERDALE, UT 84405, AND WAS NOT GIVEN A CALLBACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *BF THE CONSUMER HAS STATED THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. *AS
ON NOVEMBER 14, 2019, MY WIFE DROVE OUR 2018 JEEP COMPASS ON A LOCAL STREET, WITHIN MINUTES, THE CAR BEGAN SLOWING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND THEN SHUT OFF. BEFORE THE CAR SHUT OFF, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT, THE CAR DID NOT TURN BACK ON. ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT, THE CAR TURNED BACK ON.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO PULL BACK AND JERK AS IF IT WERE TRYING TO SLOW DOWN. CONTINUED FOR A FEW MILES TO JEEP DEALER WHICH HAPPENED TO BE ON THAT HIGHWAY. THE TECHNICIANS EXPLAINED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO AS A SAFETY PRECAUTION THE VEHICLE RESTRICTS THE SPEED BY PULLING BACK WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANY CODE THAT INDICATE A PROBLEM AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE
WHAT IT RAINS THE WATER COMES INTO MY TRUNK THROUGH THE REAR SEATBELTS.
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE, VARYING ISSUES WITH MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS SINCE I BEGAN LEASING THE CAR IN JUNE OF 2018. IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO ALONE, THE CAR HAS HAD THE UCONNECT SYSTEM REPLACED OR FIXED 4 TIMES, THE BRAKES WERE RECALLED AND REPAIRED, IT BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OUT OF OIL AT 6,000 MILES, AND NOW THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
I LEFT MY HOUSE AND DROVE ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND AS I WENT TO PROCEED ONTO AN EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. IT WOULDNT MOVE AND TOLD ME TO SHIFT GEARS THEN PRESS THE BRAKE AND START BOTTON. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WOULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. IT TOOK BETWEEN 5-7 MINUTES TO FINALLY START RUNNING, BUT GAVE NO INDICATION OF WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A MILE TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY ISSUE, BUT WAS MOMENTARILY IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE AS THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH NO NOTICE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FOUND A WEBSITE CONTAINING OF HUNDREDS OF RECENT COMPLAINTS DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO. JEEPS SOLUTION HAS BEEN THAT THE CARS ARE IN NEED OF OIL CHANGES, BUT YET FOR MYSELF AND MANY OTHERS, NO OIL WARNING LIGHT IS EVEN COMING ON. MY HUSBAND CHECKED MY OIL AND THERE BASICALLY IS NONE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER WHO INFORMED ME THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE AND IT NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE. I FIND THIS INCREDIBLY UNACCEPTABLE AND FEEL THAT JEEP IS IN OVER THEIR HEADS WITH HOW TO RESOLVE THIS FAULTY SYSTEM THAT NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT AND WONT UNTIL FATALITIES ARE UNFORTUNATELY REPORTED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO SAID IT MAY NEED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE, WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY GOING TO REQUIRE ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS TO RUN A 'TEST'. I HAVE ALSO READ THAT THE ENGINE WAS DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF WHEN OIL IS LOW AND CHRYSLER CONFIRMED THAT. HOW DOES THIS PASS TESTING? THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT AT ALL AND CHANCES ARE THAT YOU WILL DIE OR BE SERIOUSLY INJURED IF YOUR CAR JUST SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. I AM GENUINELY CONCERNED FOR MY LIFE AND THE LIVES AND SAFETY OF OTHERS WHILE HAVING THESE FAULTY VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP AND ENGINES NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH ONE THAT DONT BURN THROUGH FUEL LIKE THIS COMPASS WAS 'DESIGNED' TO.
WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE CAME UP ON DASH. ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER CAME RED. CAR HAS ONLY 15,199 MILES ON IT.
I BOUGHT A 2018 JEEP COMPASS IN 2019 IT HAD ABOUT 10 THOUSAND MILES ON IT. 4 MONTHS LATER I'M HEADING TO WORK AND CAR STALLS OUT. I STARTED BACK UP AND MADE IT TO MY LOCAL GARAGE THEY CHECKED THE OIL AND THERE WAS NOT A DROP OF OIL IN IT. THEY SAID IT WAS THERE FAULT THEY NEVER PUT OIL IN WHEN I PURCHASED. 4 MONTHS LATER COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL AGAIN. AND HERE WE ARE TODAY 2 MONTHS AFTER THE LAST SERVICE CALL MY IS GOING THREW ALMOST AN ENTIRE TANK OF OIL EVERY 2 MONTHS. AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR KEEPS MAKING ME DO OIL CONSUMPTION TEST...AND MY CAR HAS COMPLETELY RAN OUT OF OIL 3 TIMES AND I HAVE HAD 2000 MILES MORE TO GO BEFORE I NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. I ACTUALLY RUN OUT OF OIL IN MY WAY BEFORE I NEED AN OIL CHANGE. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE JEEP CORPORATION SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO FIX.
THIS JEEP CANNOT GO 3,000 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. EVEN WHEN USING A FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL THAT HAS A LIFE SPAN OF 5,000 MILES, THE "LOW OIL PRESSURE" WARNING COMES ON. IF NOT SERVICED, THE VEHICLE STALLS (USUALLY WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION!). UPON TOWING IT TO A SERVICE STATION, THEY STATE THAT THEY CAN'T FIX IT, ONLY THE DEALERSHIP CAN FIX IT. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT IT JUST NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE. SO, INSTEAD OF USING THE "MILEAGE TO NEXT OIL CHANGE" STICKER, I HAVE TO HAVE THE OIL LEVEL CHECKED TO ESTIMATE WHEN IT WILL STALL AGAIN. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I DROVE AND TURNED RIGHT. AFTER ABOUT 10 YARDS, MY CAR STALLED JUST AS I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME, OR I WOULD HAVE LIKELY BEEN HIT. THIS HAD HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE, SO I KNEW THE PROCESS: PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN ON THE EMERGENCY BREAK, TURN OFF THE EMERGENCY BREAK, TURN OFF THE CAR, TURN ON THE CAR, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THIS SEQUENCE SEEMED TO WORK, BUT MY CAR SHOULD NEVER STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE I AM DRIVING. IT IS SCARY AND UNSAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE AT AN INTERSECTION, THE CONTACT RELEASED HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WITHOUT WARNING, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO DISENGAGE. KEFFER CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (8214 E INDEPENDENCE BLVD, CHARLOTTE, NC 28227, (704) 532-1050) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 12 TIMES THE PAST 2 YEARS. I NOTICED STARTED AFTER 6K. MY OIL IS PERFECTLY FINE AND I KEEP UP WITH ALL THE OIL CHANGES ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS A LEASE AND IS FREE WITH WHO I LEASE IT THROUGH, ITS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE 4 CHILDREN!!!!! ALSO SOUNDS A HARD KNOCKING SOUNDS WHILE ACCELERATING AS IT SHIFTS INTO ANOTHER GEAR AND JERKING OF THE ENTIRE CAR FORWARD WHEN THIS HAPPENS I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY SLAM ON MY BRAKES AS IT ALMOST CAUSED HUGE ACCIDENT AND NOT TO MENTION SHAKES ME AND MY CHILDREN UP EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS. WHY AREN'T THERE ANY RECALLS ON THIS IF THERE ARE SOOOO MANY COMPLAINTS?*DT CONSUMER STATED I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK IN ANOTHER 1K SO I WILL PROVIDE FOLLOW UP. PURCHASED NEW COMPASS FROM BEST JEEP IN PLYMOUTH MA. TOOK 2 QUARTS OF OIL TO GET TO SAFE ZONE, OIL DRIPPING WAS NOTICEABLE UNDER CAR AND I BROUGHT BACK TO DEALER. GOT CAR BACK AND THEY NOTED NO OIL LEAK FOUND AND SAW SPILLED OIL AT FILLER SPOT. I PUT OIL IN THE CAR, THERE WAS NO OIL SPILLED AROUND THE FILLER. WHEN I LOOKED, DEALERSHIP HAD TAKEN, WHAT SEEMED TO BE AN OILY RAG, AND WIPED ALL AROUND THAT AREA. THEN TRIED TO BLAME ME. GOT CAR HOME, OIL WAS STILL DRIPPING. CALLED, MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. THEY THEN WROTE ON THE WORK ORDER "VERIFIED, SERVICE MANAGER DOCUMENTED OIL UNDER VEHICLE. THEY PUT DIE IN OIL, CLEANED UP PRESENT OIL ON OUTSIDE OF ENGINE. WENT BACK TO DEALER AFTER 300 MILES, OIL WAS DOWN HALF A QUART, BUT DEALER SAID NO LEAKS FOUND. WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS WITHIN THE NORMAL RANGE FOR A NEW ENGINE TO BURN UP TO 1 QUART OF OIL PER 1000 MILES. THIS MEANS THE ENGINE IS ALREADY SHOWING 1 QUART OF OIL APROX EVERY 600 MILES. NOW I HAVE TO DO AN "OIL CONSUMPTION TEST" EVERY 1000 MILES. AFTER READING WHAT CAN HAPPEN WHEN LOW OIL PRESSURE HAPPENS, CAR SHUTTING DOWN AND LOCKING UP SO CANT BE DRIVEN, HAS HAPPENED. ONCE AT A STOP LIGHT, THEN TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING SPOT. I THOUGHT IT WAS OPERATOR ERROR AND I MUST HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG BECAUSE NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND CONTINUE. MY FAULT FOR NOT FOLLOWING UP WITH DEALER, HOWEVER IF HAPPENS AGAIN, CAR WILL BE JUST TOWED FROM SPOT. TO ME, THIS IS AN ISSUE JEEP KNOWS ABOUT AND IS PUTTING PROFITS OVER LIVES. I SAID SO WHILE I'M DRIVING, GETTING ON A HIGHWAY 1.5 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING MY HOME MY CAR WILL JUST SHUT DOWN? THE ANSWER WAS YES! UNACCEPTABLE!! HOW ABOUT THE CAR NOT TURNING ON DUE TO LOW OIL OR THINGS OF SUCH INSTEAD OF THE CAR TURNING ON AND ALLOWING YOU TO DRIVE ENOUGH TO GET UP TO 50 MPH THEN JUST SHUTTING DOWN. THE ERROR CODES ARE: P3506 AND P2AF5: CYLINDER MISFIRE FAULT DETECTED, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, SENSOR REFERENCE VOLATAGE CIRCUIT LOW, CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR, ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT 1 LOW. THE VEHICLE IS 16 MONTHS OLD AND HAS 7,000 MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 TIMES, THE LAST 3 YESTERDAY. ALL CITY DRIVING, ONCE IN THE DRIVEWAY. TAKES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES TO GET PARKING BRAKE TO GO OFF AND GET THE CAR RUNNING AGAIN. NOW JUST OVER 50K MILES IT HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK. FIRST TIME WAS TURNING LEFT AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION, PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED MID TURN AND THE CAR STALLED, LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO THE OTHER SIDE AND MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. THEN IT HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY COMING UP TO A MAJOR INTERSECTION AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP. PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED, CAR STALLED, GOT A TRANSMISSION WARNING THEN A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS STALLED AT THE LIGHT FOR APPROX. 5 MINUTES BEFORE GETTING THE PARKING BRAKE TO TURN OFF AND THE CAR TO START. IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER (CRESTVIEW FL DOGE JEEP RAM) AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING IT IN. DROPPED THE CAR OFF THAT EVENING. WAS ADVISED THE NEXT DAY MY OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND THIS CAUSED EVERYTHING TO HAPPEN, BUT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATING ON ITS OWN. ADVISED TO BRING BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED MY ENGINE WAS OVERLY CONSUMING THE OIL AND AN ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY.*DT*JB
JUST STARTED VEHICLE AND PLACED INTO DRIVE. VEHICLE MOVED 5 FEET IN PARKING LOT AND STALLED. FAN AND ALL ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS CONTINUED RUNNING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS LIT ON CONTROL PANEL. I PRESSED AND DEPRESSED THE IGNITION BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES. THE NOTHING HAPPENED. NO STARTING AT ALL. LEFT THE VEHICLE. PARKING LIGHTS AND ALL ELECTRONICS CONTINUED ON. I COULD NOT SHUT OFF. I LEASE MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS. ON FOUR OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS STALLED AND NOT BEEN ABLE TO OPERATE. TWO OF THE STALLING HAS BEEN IN TRAFFIC WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION (HIGHWAY AND INTERSECTION). EVERYTIME I TAKE THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT DID STALL AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP SO I LEFT IT AGAIN. ON ALL THE OCCASIONS DEALER HAD A LOOK THEY SAID IT WAS A PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED, THEN A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THEN SAYING THEY LEFT TOO MUCH CLEANER. JUST LAST WEEK I PICKED UP MY CAR FROM DEALERSHIP WITH A FULL TANK. I DROVE 100 MILES MILES AND THE FUEL INDICATOR DID NOT MOVE AT ALL. I KNOW WHEN I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS I HAVE A TOTAL RANGE OF 326 MILES. THEN THE TOTAL RANGE NUMBER KEPT FLUCTUATING. AT ONE POINT IT SAID I HAD 328 MILES LEFT THEN WENT DOWN TO 200 THEN BACK UP TO 300 ALL WITHIN 6 MILES OF DRIVING WITH A 3/4 TANK FULL. THEREFORE IT WASN'T ACCURATE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN AND DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS DUE TO A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT I JUST HAD A SOFTWARE UPDATE LAST WEEK. AT THIS POINT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR AND I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND AM SCARED FOR THE NEXT TIME MY CAR DECIDES TO STOP WHILE DRIVING. IT IS UNSAFE AND A HAZARD TO MYSELF AND OTHERS.

THEY SAID THESE CARS (JEEP COMPASS) ARE NOTORIOUSLY BAD ABOUT STALLING OUT BECAUSE THEY BURN OIL QUICKLY AND THE OIL LIGHT WON'T COME ON. THEY TOLD ME TO CONSTANTLY CHECK MY OIL. I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW LAST YEAR. I'VE HAD IT ABOUT A YEAR A HALF. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY TOLD ME 'YES. THESE 2.4 LITER ENGINES BURN OIL TOO QUICKLY. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE JEEP WILL CUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WITH THESE JEEPS. YOU CANNOT MOVE THE CAR ONCE IT DOES THIS.

VEHICLE JUST HIT 7000 MILES COMPLICATIONS STARTED 2 WEEKS AGO AND IT HAS HAPPENED 5X NOW
MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS RAN OUT OF OIL. OIL PLUG IS IN TACT AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT'S LEAKING AROUND THE OIL PUMP RIGHT BEHIND THE ALTERNATOR. YESTERDAY IT WAS FINE THIS MORNING STARTED IT PULLED OUT AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY PARKED IT. CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS EMPTY.
UNKNOWN Vehicle dashboard dinged and text on the screen alerted me that the temperature of the coolant was too high or overheated. The vehicle immediately stopped accelerating. Before I could properly engage my blinker and pull off the roadway in a safe manner, the vehicle resumed normal operating status and temperatures read normal. This has happened over 5x, speed driven during each event varying from 28-65. Weather was mild, two events occurring in winter months with temps no more than 45 F. Coolant was checked and appeared to be at normal levels following the latest event. The roadway conditions, traffic rules and conditions of overall transportation system when this alert disengages driver's ability to control speed of vehicle put driver and passengers at risk of being rear ended by traffic traveling in the same direction from behind. Especially in South Dakota, the place of for owner and driver of this JEEP Compass, where large pick up trucks hauling livestock or other ag products and semi trucks hauling general trailer loads are commonplace.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2018 JEEP COMPASS IN FEBRUARY 2019. WITHIN A COUPLE MONTHS MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AT A SERVICE CENTER IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE HAD BURNED THROUGH ALL OF THE OIL. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MY JEEP DEALER AND STARTED A OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. IN THE TEST I BURNED 1 QUART OF OIL IN 2024 MILES. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN DUE TO LOW OIL OR RUINING THE ENGINE.*DT *AS
BUYERS PLEASE BE AWARE. AESTHETICALLY THIS VEHICLE IS AWESOME. HOWEVER, IT IS HIGHLY CONCERNING WHEN A VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR OLD HAS MASSIVE SYSTEM FAILURES.. MY ISSUES WITH THE JEEP COMPASS TRAILHAWK IS RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING. ALL SYSTEMS WOULD BE COMPLETELY DEAD. WHEN I PRESS THE BUTTON TO START THE CAR IT WOULD NOD NEVER START BACK UP. WHAT MAKES MATTERS WORSE IS THAT WHEN THE SYSTEM IS DEAD THERE IS NO POWER NO LIGHTS AND I AM UNABLE TO EVEN STEER THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. YESTERDAY WAS THE FINAL STRAW FOR ME . I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR MADE A FUNNY JERKING SOUND AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WENT DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH OTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT LEAST 60 TO 75 MPH. I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. I HAD TO COME OUT OF THE CAR INSTINCTIVELY I USED THE KEY FOB TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND USED THE VALET KEY TO OPEN THE CAR AND QUICKLY WENT BACK IN THE VEHICLE TO TRY TO RESTART ONE THE FIRST TRY I WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL. IT TOOK ME 4 TRIES TO FINALLY GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. THIS WAS AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WITH MY AMBER LIGHTS ON. EVENTUALLY, WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED UP AGAIN AND I CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME ONCE AGAIN WHEN I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND THIS TIME CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE VEHICLE WENT DEAD AGAIN!! THIS TIME WENT I PUT IT IN PARK IT STARTED BACK UP AGAIN BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE TO MOVE OFF THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AGAIN AND WAS BARELY MOVING . THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER AS LIVES WILL BE LOST IF SIMILAR SITUATIONS ARE BEING REPORTED AS I HAVE SEEN. NICE LOOKING COMPACT SUV BUT I DO NOT TRUST THIS VEHICLE ANYMORE HENCE WHY I WILL BE SWITCHING.
