ROTORS BAD ON VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A LONG TIME AND I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS NORMAL VEHICLE MAINTAINENCE. I WAS WATCHING THE NEWS AND FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT FOR JEEPS FROM 1999-2004. I HAVE HAD THEM TURNED ONCE ALREADY AND IT WAS A TEMPORARY FIX. *AK

SQUEALING NOISE WHEN APPLIED THE BRAKES. DEALER PERFORM SERVICE BY CHANGING THE BRAKE FLUID AND SPRAYED ROTORS WITH BRAKE DUST TO ELIMINATE THE NOISE. 07/02/2003 NOISE WHEN BRAKING, TECHNICIAN FOUND THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WARPED RESURFACED ROTORS. 07/07/2004 CAR WAS SERVICE FOR BRAKING NOISE. FRONT BRAKING PADS WORN TO REPLACEMENT POINTS. FRONT BRAKE JOB WITH NEW W/ROTORS. 05/20/2005 BRAKES PULSATING FRONT BRAKE ROTORS HAVE EXCESSIVE RUNOUT AND CAUSING VIBRATION WHILE PEDAL IS APPLIED. REPLACE FRONT ROTORS . 12/20/2005. BRAKES MAKING THE SAME NOISE. WILL HAVE SERVICE TO CHECK OUT THE PROBLEM. *JB
ROTORS WARPED DUE HEAT BUILDUP FROM CONSTANT PAD CONTACT -- SERVICE ADVISOR RECOMMENDS A NEW PAD TYPE WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO STAY AWAY FROM ROTOR. OBVIOUS MANUFACTURER QUALITY FAILURE RESULTING IN SAFETY COMPONENT DEFECT. READ YOUR ODI FILES, THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. RECALL NOW!!!!*AK

VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR FROM PARK TO REVERSE, ACCELERATING ALMOST 30 MPH. DEALER PREVIOUSLY REPLACED TRANSMISSION FOR "IT WAS NOT GROUNDED PROPERLY". PLEASE ADD ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO PARK. WHEN YOU SHIFT INTO PARK, THEN RELEASE THE SHIFTER, THE SHIFTER MOVES BACKWARD INTO PARK. VERY DANGEROUS. THANK YOU.*AK
I WAS TRAVELLING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH WITH THE SUNROOF OPEN AND ALL THE OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED WHEN THE REAR WINDOW IMPLODED INWARD. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE WINDOW AND THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS OR PEOPLE IN THE NEAR VICINITY. I AM WONDERING IF SOME KIND OF PRESSURE COULD HAVE BEEN CREATED THAT CAUSED THE WINDOW TO IMPLODE. IT WAS QUITE VIOLENT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.*AK
PULSATING IN BRAKE PEDAL ON LOW SPEED, VIBRATIONS AT HIGH SPEEDS, AND CONSTANT SQUEAKING, OCCURED AT APPX. 9,000 MILES. FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED AT 13,000 MILES. DEALER INDICATES BRAKES ARE FINE BUT THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE.*AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED IT IS HARD TO STEER AND VEHICLE STARTS TO VIBRATE. TO STOP VEHICLE CONSUMER HAS TO EASE UP ON THE BRAKES. DEALER WILL INSPECT VEHICLE.*AK
THIS WAS A DECENT TRUCK WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE STANDARD WARRANTY HAS ENDED HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ROTORS AND PADS ABOUT 8000 MILES EACH (3) TIMES. STEREO SPEAKERS (INFINITY) 2 PAIR. NOW ALL POWER LOCKS AND ACTUATORS ARE BAD, ALONG WITH A GRINDING NOISE WHEN YOU PUT THE THING IN REVERSE. RESPONSE FROM DEALER (2) AND THE DIAMLER. NORMAL , WEAR AND TEAR, COULD NOT DUPLICATE. I HAVE SPENT ABOUT 3500.00 ON THIS VEHICLE ON JUST GARBAGE FAILURES, NOT TO MENTION PM'S. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 71000 MILES ON IT AND WAS BOUGHT NEW. THIS IS THE 3RD AND LAST DODGE PRODUCT I WILL OWN.*AK
CONSUMER HAD PUT VEHICLE IN PARK WHILE IT WAS IDLING, CONSUMER SAW THAT VEHICLE WAS GOING IN REVERSE AND TRIED TO JUMP IN TO STOP IT, HOWEVER IT RAN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLES DOOR AND STOPPED. ROTORS HAVE BEEN TURNED BEFORE WARRANTY ENDED DUE TO VEHICLE WAS JERKING WHILE BRAKING, CONSUMER ALSO STATES THAT THE HOTLINE IS WORTHLESS, SHE STATED SHE COULD NOT GET THROUGH AND THEN WHEN SHE DID, SHE WAS ON HOLD FOR 15-20 MINUTES. *SLC
INGAGE IN PARK, GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE LEFT DRIVER SIDE DOOR OPEN, ENGINE ON WASKED BACK AROUND TO GET IN THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY SHIFTED INT REVERSE AND TOOK OFF DOWN DRIVEWAY AND CRASHED BACKEND FIRST INTO LARGE OAK TREE. VEHICLE TOTTALED

THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED WHEN IT WAS APPLIED. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE CUT AT 7,000 MILES, REPLACED AT 13,0000 MILES AND CUT AGAIN AT 19,000 MILES. THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED AT 28,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THIS FAILURE HAPPENED BECAUSE OF THE QUALITY OF STEEL USED COMBINED WITH HEAT CAUSED THE ROTOR TO WRAP. *JB

ROTORS WERE TURNED DOWN ABOUT 1 AND A HALF MONTHS AGO AND THEY ARE WARPED AGAIN. I FEEL THESE ROTORS ARE DEFECTIVE. *AK

RIGHT FRONT ALUMINUM WHEEL RIMS GETS TOO HOT TO TOUCH. RIMS SEEM TO GET HOT ACCORDING TO TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE. DEALER CAN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM.*AK THE RIGHT FRONT CALIPER WOULD NOT TOTALLY RELEASE HEATING THE ROTOR AND CAUSING VIBRATION, THE CALIPER AND ROTOR WERE REPLACED WHICH REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. *SLC

THE BRAKES BEGAN PULSING AND THE VEHICLE SHAKING WHEN STOPPING. IT GOT WORSE EACH WEEK,. I FINALLY TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS. 23,000 MILES IS TOO SOON FOR A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS ON ANY VEHICLE! JEEP SHOULD REPLACE THEM AS DEFECTIVE.*AK

I BOUGHT THE 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE CAR BRAND NEW, ONE YEAR LATER WE HAD TO HAVE THE ROTORS REPLACED, SIX MONTHS LATER WE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. SIX MONTHS AFTER THAT, THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK ON THE DIVER'S SIDE STARTED MAKING LOUD SCREECHING NOISES WHENEVER YOU LOCK AND UNLOCK THE DOOR, A DEALER LOOKED AT IT AND ESTIMATED $700 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WE'VE BEEN HAVING FRON SUSPENSION PROBLEMS, AND THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A HUMMING SOUND WHEN IT'S IN REVERSE. WHAT'S NEXT?*AK

IT WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH CONSUMER'S GARAGE, HITTING OTHER CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN GARAGE, CAUSING DAMAGE TO IT BEFORE COMING TO A HOLT. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING INTO A CURVE AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE SEAT FRAME BROKE UNDERNEATH AND MADE IT EASY FOR THE SEAT TO SUDDENLY ROCK FREELY WITH A LEFT-LEANING TO FRONT AND RIGHT-LEANING TO BACK MOTION, MAKING THE VEHICLE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE NOW. HOWARD-WILSON CHRYSLER-PLYMOUTH-JEEP IN JACKSON, MS (WHERE I'VE BEEN HAVING MOST OF THE SERVICE WORK PERFORMED ON THE JEEP) WAS CONTACTED ABOUT POSSIBLE RECALL INFORMATION, BUT I WAS ADVISED THAT I'D BE REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR MYSELF. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED YET, BUT AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS ITEM WAS IN EXCESS OF $400.00. I RECENTLY REMOVED THE SEAT FROM THE VEHICLE AT A LOCAL SHOP AND TRIED TO HAVE THE SEAT FRAMED WELDED BACK TOGETHER (BECAUSE IT'S A CLEAN SEPARATION OF THE METAL ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER OF THE SEAT ABOVE WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE TRACK), BUT THE SHOP STRONGLY ADVISED AGAINST IT FOR THE LIKELIHOOD OF WEAKING THE METAL IN THAT AREA AND LEAVING THE POTENTIAL OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN, BUT EVEN THEY HAD NO IDEA HOW THIS PARTICULAR BREAKAGE COULD HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE.*AK

THE JEEP WAS PLACED INTO PARK. WHILE IT WAS IDLING MY WIFE STEPED OUT OF THE CAR TO TALK TO A FRIEND. WITH MY TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT THE CAR BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS DOWN A HILL. BY THE GRACE OF G-D THE CAR TURNED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR AND THEN INTO A FENCE. NO ONE WAS HURT BUT THE CAR WAS BADLY DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE HAD AN ONGOING PULSATION PROBLEM WITHIN THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 0500302RB DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE, AND STATED THAT THE FRONT ROTORS SHOULD BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY WARPED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ROTORS. THE PULSATION RECURRED WITHIN 7000 MILES, AND ROTORS WERE TURNED. THE PULSATION RECURRED WITHIN 10,000 MILES. THEN THE FRONT ROTORS AND CALIPERS WERE REPLACED. PULSATION RECURRED WITHIN 10,000 MILES. *AK *NM *SC
THE BRAKES STARTED TO SHIMMY AT ABOUT 15,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT BECAME A SAFETY ISSUE WITH VIOLENT SHAKING WHEN DECELERATING AT 25,000 MILES AND WAS BROUGHT INTO BURNSIDE MOTORS (WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED). THE GARAGE DIAGNOSED THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS NEEDED REPLACING. ROTORS SHOULD NOT BE A NORMAL WEAR ITEM WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES ON A VEHICLE. DAIMLER CHRYSLER REFUSED TO COVER THE COST AND INSTALLATION OF THE NEW ROTORS.*AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 50MPH ON HIGHWAY AND ANOTHER VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED. IN ORDER FOR TO AVOID THE OTHER VEHICLE, SHE WENT INTO GUARDRAIL. WHEN CONSUMER APPLIED ANTI-LOCK BRAKES VEHICLE SKIDDED AND LOCKED UP. INTERIOR REAR SEAT WASN'T PROBERLY BOLTED , SEAT CAME OUT FROM FLOOR. IT WAS SECUED. FRONT AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF. CONTACTED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT SOLVE PROBLEM.*AK

I AM HAVING TO REPLACE ROTORS ON MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR THE THIRD TIME IN 30,000 MILES. WHEN I REMOVED THE FRONT TIRES TO ROTATE THEM, I COULD GRAB THE ROTORS AND EFFORTLESSLY MOVE THEM QUITE A FEW CENTIMETERS. I AM IN FEAR OF HAVING A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AND WILL BE REQUESTING THAT JEEP TAKE BACK MY VEHICLE AND PAY OFF THE REMAINDER OF MY LOAN. I WOULD NEVER HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE HAD I KNOWN OR BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. VEHICLE SHUDDERED WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. DEALER TURNED ROTORS AT 11500 MILES. VEHICLE NOW HAS 19000 MILES AND PROBLEM IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THE DEALER IS TRYING TO BLAME THE PROBLEM ON MY DRIVING STYLE!*AK
