I HAVE 16,000 IN DAMAGESO FAR ON MY JEEP AND THE MORE THEY TAKE APART THE MORE THEY FIND. I WENT OF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. I HAVE A CUT ON MY FACE THAT WENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH TO MY TEETH,I WILL HAVE THIS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. Y FIND. *AK
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM/ THE TRANSMISSION BANGS, AND I DO MEAN BANGS INTO GEAR. CHRYSLER SAID THIS IS NORMAL FOR AN ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT IT DOES OCCUR AT ANY SPEED AND IN ANY GEAR EXCEPT 1ST. CHRYSLER DISTRICT REP SAID THIS IS THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION SEARCHING FOR THE NEXT GEAR, HE CALLED IT A BURP. I HAVE FELT WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT, I HAVE DRIVEN MANY OTHER VEHICLES WITH ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSIONS, BUT WHAT I AM SAYING IS THIS SUV ACTUALLY BANGS OR KLUNKS INTO GEAR SOMETIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN I FIRST DRIVE IT FOR THE DAY, IT WILL SLAM, NOT BURP,INTO SECOND GEAR . ALSO IT SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE OFTEN WHEN GOING INTO 4TH GEAR, WHEN MY SPEED IS IN THE 45 TO 50 MILES PER HOUR RANGE. THIS SUV HAS SLAMMED INTO GEAR WHILE UP SHIFTING AND DOWN SHIFTING. THERE IS NO WAY THIS SLAMMING / BANGING / KLUNKING INTO GEAR CAN BE CONSIDERED NORMAL. A/C PROBLEM - THE VEHICLE HAS A MISS IN IT WHEN A/C IS ON. MOST NOTICABLE WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY, OCCURS ABOUT EVERY 10 SECONDS. IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE HAS JUST GONE OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. I WAS TOLD THIS IS ALSO NORMAL . THIS IS THE A/C SYSTEM CYCLING. I HAVE DRIVEN WELL OVER A HUNDRED VEHICLES OR MORE, ALL OF THEM AUTOMATICS, ALL OF THEM HAD A/C , NO OTHER CAR ,TRUCK OR SUV I HAVE EVER DRIVEN HAS HAD A MISS OR LURCH EVERY 10 SECONDS WHEN THE A/C IS ON OR SLAMS INTO GEAR. CHRYSLER SAYS THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL, I HAVE GONE AND TEST DRIVEN 3 OTHER GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITEDS, I DID NOT NOTICE THESE PROBLEMS WITH THOSE VEHICLES.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT STEERING WHEEL SHAKES EXCESSIVELY AND THE BRAKES PULSATE WHEN APPLIED. DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS WARPED BRAKE ROTORS. PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. PH
WHEN A RIGHT TURN IS MADE THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES A SOUND LIKE THE HORN IS BLOWING. FIRST REPORTED IN 2001 WHILE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND DEALER SAID HE COULDN'T REPRODUCE IT. REPORTED IT 3 MORE TIMES AND DEALER SAID HE COULDN'T HEAR IT. DEALER CLAIMED HE WOULD NOT DISASSEMBLE STEERING COLUMN BECAUSE, IF NO PROBLEM COULD BE FOUND, CHRYSLER WOULD NOT REIMBURSE THEM FOR THIS LABOR INTENSIVE WORK. PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, PARTICULARLY WHEN AIR TEMP IS ABOVE 85 DEGREES. *JB
FOR A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THE HEADLIGHT GLASS(OR PLASTIC) HAS A GLOSS ON IT THAT DIMS THE HEADLIGHTS AND I NOTICED IT ON SIMILAR MODELS OF SURROUNDING YEARS. I PURCHASED SEVERAL PRODUCTS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO REMOVE THIS GLAZE, WITHOUT ANY CORRECTION. CHRYSLER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE REGARDING THIS MATTER. *TR
RECALL 01V00700/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL 965; STEERING MAKES A GRINDING NOISE ONLY WHEN TURNING. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALER 3 TIMES. CHRYSLER HASN'T INSTRUCTED HOW TO REPAIR IT. *AK
DURING NORMAL OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, AND WHEN BRAKE SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED, A SEVERE VIBRATION STARTS TO OCCUR. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE FOUR TIMES, AND HAS BEEN UNABLE TO EFFECTIVELY REMEDY THE PROBLEM. CORRECTIVE ACTION TAKEN BY THE DEALERSHIP IS TO REPLACE THE BRAKE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AND WHEEL BEARINGS. *AK THE VEHICLE PULLS RIGHT WHILE DRIVING DUE TO HUB AND BEARING FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING, THE REAR END MAKES NOISE DUE TO BEARING AND PINION WORN OUT. GREASE LEAKING AROUND BOTH FRONT WHEELS BECAUSE OF DRIVE SHAFT FAILURE. LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT CV BOOT WERE LEAKING. *YH
A SUBTLE VIBRATION OCCURRED WHILE BREAKING WELL BEFORE 12,000 MILES; HOWEVER, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AT THAT TIME. THE VIBRATION PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE TO WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY BY 20,000. I HAD VEHICLE SERVICED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PADS ARE FINE, BUT THE ROTORS WERE SEVERELY OUT OF VARIANCE AND THAT THEY SEE THAT FREQUENTLY ON JEEP CHEROKEES. I HAD THE ROTORS TURNED ONLY TO BEGIN EXERIENCING A VIBRATION ONLY 4000 MILES LATER.
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT AN ENGINE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH VEHICLE ABRUPTLY LOST POWER. ALSO,TRANSMISSION FAILED WHEN VEHICLE HAD ONLY 30,000 MILES ON IT. *AK CRANKSHAFT BROKE AT 60,000 MILES. *LA

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SECURE LOADS TO THE ROOF RACK, THE TIE-DOWN HOLES ARE NOT DRILLED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SLIDE RAILS, IT IS TOO SHORT, AND THE CROSSBARS COVER THE TIE DOWN HOLES WHEN SPREAD TO THE LAST POSITION AT EACH END, CONSUMER STATES HIS PREVIOUS 1993 CHEROKEE HAD TIE DOWN HOLES THAT WERE DRILLED ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SLIDE RAILS WHERE HE WAS ABLE TO PROPERLY SECURE LOADS WITH NO PROBLEM. *SLC

CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT FACTORY RUNNING BOARDS BE INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE FOR MEDICAL REASONS, WHICH WERE PROMISED BY THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, HOWEVER WHEN CONSUMER ARRIVED TO PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, THE RUNNING BOARDS HAD NOT BEEN INSTALLED, BUT THE DEALER HAD INSTALLED WHAT WAS CALLED SIDE STEPS, WHICH WERE THEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT NEW HOLES WOULD BE DRILLED TO MAKE THE SIDE STEPS STRAIGHT, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT BACK OUT THE SIDE STEP WERE STILL CROOKED AND IT LOOKED AS THOUGH SOMEONE HAD TAKEN A HAMMER AND POUNDED ON THE EDGE TO STRAIGHTEN IT OUT, CONSUMER WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE HOME AND SHE WOULD BE CALLED WHEN THE RUNNING BOARD CAME IN, CONSUMER WAS NEVER CONTACTED AND WHEN SHE FINALLY SPOKE TO SOMEONE, SHE WAS TOLD THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN OFF THE LOT, SHE HAS THEN ACCEPTED THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF VEHICLE, CONUSMER STATES SHE STILL HAS NOT RECEIVED THE FLOOR MATS, CARGO COVER OR THE SECOND IGNITION KEY THAT WAS PROMISED IN THE CONTRACT.*JB
WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND , ALONG WITH A "MOAN" WHICH CONTINUES UNTIL I TAKE MY FOOT TOTALLY OFF THE BRAKE. NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM WHILE VEHICLE IS UNDERWAY. TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE AND TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR AN ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD "LESSER" VEHICLES WITH OVER 100,000 MILES ON THEM AND THEY NEVER MADE SUCH NOISES. PEOPLE ACTUALLY TURN AND LOOK TOWARD MY VEHICLE IF I HAPPEN TO BE IN A POPULATED AREA AND NEED TO SHIFT THE AUTOMOBILE. TO SAY THE LEAST, IT IS ANNOYING AND EMBARASSING.*AK
BRAKES VIBRATE AND DO NOT SLOW VEHICLE ADEQUATELY. WHEN SLOWING TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS INTO LOW GEAR AND VEHICLE ACCELERATES AND LURCHES FORWARD. TO COMPENSATE FOR THIS SUDDEN ACCELERATION ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IS REQUIRED TO AVOID LOOSING CONTROL. THIS IS UNSAFE AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF NOT ADDRESSED PROPERLY.
WHILE DRIVING AND UPON PUTTING GEAR INTO PARK IT SLIPPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE AND ROLLED BACKWARD INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER, AND ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WITH 9,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THERE WOULD BE A VIBRATION DURING APPLICATION OF BRAKES WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. DEALERSHIP TURNED ROTORS AT 12,000 MILES WHICH TEMPORARILY REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. WITH 26,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, VIBRATION HAS STARTED TO REOCCUR WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ACTIVATED. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT BRAKE ROTORS/PADFS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WARPING. ALSO, DEALER REQUIRED CONSUMER TO COVER COST OF BRAKE PADS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *AK
DISC BRAKES SURGE WHILE STOPPING. WITH LESS THAN 15000 MILES THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED AT THE MANUFACTURERS EXPENSE. IT IS OBVIOUSLY THE ROTOR AND NOT JUST PADS THAT ARE DEFECTIVE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. *AK

I AM CONCERNED THAT THE GEN-3 SEAT BELTS IN MY VEHICLE ARE NOT SAFE, DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RELEASE BUTTON ON THE BELT, SITS HIGH IN THE HOUSING OF THE DEVICE, AND THE RELEASE COULD BE STRUCK DURING AN ACCIDENT, AND THE BUCKLE WILL RELEASE THE BELT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT RIGHTS DO I HAVE TO REQUEST THE MANUFACTURER TO REPLACE THESE SEAT BELTS. *AK

ROTORS WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM. ROTORS WARPED, AND THE VEHICLE SHIMMIED, AND SHAKEED VERY BADLY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED PERIODIC ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, ABOUT 3 WEEKS AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE, THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WENT FROM COLD AIR TO AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE, ABOUT 15 MINUTES AFTER HITTING SEVERAL BUMPS BOTH WERE WORKING AGAIN, THIS IS SINCE HAPPENED 3 TIMES, ON THE LAST OCCASION, CONSUMER HAD PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE LUNGED FOWARD WITHOUT THE ACCELERATOR BEING PUSHED AND STRUCK THE GARAGE DOOR, CONSUMER BELIEVES THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITHIN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.*JB
VEHICLE HAS 18K+ MILES. WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS OVER 45MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES/VIBRATES. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT JUDGING FROM ALL THE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN LOGGED, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ROTORS ARE WARPED. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. I THINK IT'S UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR AT SUCH LOW MILEAGES. WE'VE HAD A LOT OF OTHER CARS BEFORE AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THEM.*AK
I BOUGHT THIS JEEP NEW. I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I FOUND OUT HOW ABRUPT THE TRANSMISSION CHANGED GEARS. I WAS EVEN MORE SHOCKED WHEN I TOOK THE JEEP IN FOR REPAIRS AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A NORMAL CHARATARISTIC FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHCILE. NONETHELESS, THE DEALER CHANGED THE "SPIDER GEARS" IN AN EFFORT TO CORRECT A PROBLEM THAT REALLY WASN'T THERE. HAVE YET TO FIGURE THAT ONE OUT. THIS JEEP IS DANGEROUS DUE TO THE ABRUPT , LURKING MOTION IT MAKES AT HIGHER SPEEDS. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND DAIMLERCHRYSLER SAYS THE SAME THING. IT'S A NORMAL OPERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION. LIES, LIES, AND MORE LIES. I'M GOING TO COURT AND GET MY MONEY BACK. *AK
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHAKE, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ROTORS UNLESS THE CALIPERS WERE REPLACED AS WELL. *SLC
AT 35,350 MILES, EXPERIENCING A STRONG VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALSO HEARING EXCESSIVE SQUEAKING FROM BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS. FRONT ROTORS NEED REPLACEMENT, BUT ONLY COVERED UNDER WARANTY FOR 1YR/12000MI. IF NOT REPLACED, RISKING FURTHER DETERIORATION OF BRAKING SYSTEM, HOWEVER DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED NO RECALL ON THE SYSTEM. DT

THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO PERFORM THE RECALL FOR THE DEBRIS IN THE MANIFOLD 02 V 104 000 IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THERE WASN'T ANY RISK. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN TO 20 MPH . VEHICLE WAS SERVICED FOR THE PROBLEM. TECHNICIAN NOTICED A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT ROTORS HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES, CALIPERS ALSO HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. ON TWO OCCASIONS THE PASSENGER SIDE REGULATOR BROKE, AND THE WINDOW CAME DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. ALSO, ONCE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN FOR THE ROTORS. *AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE TRAVELING 45-50 MPH VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING, CAUSING CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, TECHNICIAN NOTICED ROTORS AND CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT WITHIN THE BRAKES WHICH CAUSES THEM TO PULSATE EXCESSIVELY, RESULTING IN SEVERE SHUDDERING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. NOTIFIED DEALER AND THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER THAT THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM IT REQUIRED THAT THE CALIPERS, PADS AND ROTORS NEED TO REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE ENGINEERING OF THE CALIPERS WERE FAULTY. CONSUMER FELLS IT COULD LEAD TO LOSS OF CONTROL. *AK *CB
WITHOUT ANY INDICATION DRIVER'S WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. PASSENGER'S SIDE FAILED THE SAME WAY. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED, AND MOTOR WAS REPLACED.*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *MR THE VEHICLE HAD BECOME UNSTABLE WHEN BRAKING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. SLIGHT MODERATE BRAKING CAUSED THE EXCESSIVE SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND INTENSIVE VIBRATION ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE POINT OF A LOST OF CONTROL. TSB# 0500501 WAS PERFORMED. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD HE WAS HARD ON THE BRAKES. THE PROBLEM RECURRED AT 21K MILES GOING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH. *SCC *JB
