TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I WAS DRIVING ON UNIVERSITY APPROACHING THE STOP LIGHT ON 66TH ST IN LUBBOCK TX, AS SLOWING DOWN FROM APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, I HEARD AN OVERWHELMING LOUD BANG COME FROM THE FRONT OF THE JEEP, IT SHOOK THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IT FELT LIKE I HAD HIT SOMEONES CAR. I WAS GETTING LEAVING LUBBOCK HEADED HOME TO PLAINVIEW. ME AND MY DAUGHTER STOPPED AT WALMART WHERE I LEFT MY VEHICLE IDLING FOR NO MORE THAN THREE TO TEN MINUTES MAX. I CAME OUT FROM WALMART AND SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY CAR. ANTIFREEZE WAS SPILT OUT EVERYWHERE AND THE PERSON PARKED NEXT ME THAT MY CAR HAD OVERHEATED AND TO LET IT COOL DOWN BEFORE DRIVING IT AGAIN. I CAME BACK TO LUBBOCK YESTERDAY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND I ALMOST STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY BUT WAS ABLE TO MAKE INTO THE WALMART PARKING LOT. A FRIEND POINTED OUT THE RADIATOR FAN WAS ALL BUSTED UP. THE JEEP WILL NOT START AND IS IN THE PARKING LOT AT THE WALMART ON AVE. Q IN LUBBOCK. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY IT WILL NOT START UP I BELIEVE IT COULD BE THE RADIATOR RELAY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V527000 (AIR BAGS), HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT SINCE THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED IN NOVEMBER 2012, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A REMEDY AVAILABLE BEFORE JANUARY 2014. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT FAILURE AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
MY AC SYSTEM IS FAULTY. HOT AND COLD AIR BLOWS AT THE SAME TIME. WINDOWS CONSTANTLY FOG UP AND I CAN'T SEE. GETTING BLEND DOOR CODES ON THE CLIMATE CONTROL READER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, I STEPPED ON MY BRAKE, I HEARD A LOUD "BANG" AND FOUND MYSELF FIRST JAMMED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL/DASH AREA, AND THEN, ONCE MY VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, I WAS IN THE REAR SEAT AREA. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I FOUND THAT THE REAR SEAT BRACKETS ON MY FRONT (DRIVERS) SEAT WERE BROKEN THROUGH; THE METAL THAT THE SEAT BRACKET IS MADE OF WAS BROKEN AT BOTH REAR CORNERS, AND THE FRONT BOLTS WERE PULLED-THROUGH. THE THIN METAL THE BRACKET IS MADE OF HAD A COUPLE OF CRACKS, AND OVERALL, THE SEAT IS ALMOST USELESS WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVING THE CAR IN A SAFE MANNER. FORTUNATELY, WHEN MY SEAT BROKE I WAS NOT GOING SO FAST AS TO NOT BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT! IF I HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY, I BELIEVE I WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY WRITING THIS COMPLAINT. THERE ARE NO REASONABLE LOCAL SOURCES TO REPLACE THE BRACKET;(THE JEEP DEALERS WANT TO SELL A NEW SEAT FOR APPROX. 700.00, UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY $300.00+ FOR ANOTHER SEAT FROM A WRECKING YARD, WHICH WILL ALSO HAVE THE SAME THIN METAL BRACKET). I AM ATTEMPTING TO GET IT WELDED, BUT I HAVE ALREADY BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS WILL BE A TEMPORARY REPAIR AT BEST; THE METAL THE BRACKET IS MADE OF IS FAR TOO THIN TO HANDLE THE WEIGHT OF A PERSON USING THE SEAT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME, AND WILL BREAK AGAIN). THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT BRACKET HAD BROKEN IN TWO, TIPPING THE SEAT TO THE RIGHT, MAKING ME OVER-STEER VERY QUICKLY TO THE RIGHT WHICH I HAD TO COMPENSATE FOR IN ORDER TO AVOID RUNNING OFF THE ROAD INTO THE DITCH. I HAVE SINCE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM OF METAL FATIGUE FROM UNDER STRENGTH RAILS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A LEAK AROUND THE RADIATOR AND DETERMINED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND THE RADIATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 224,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 300,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE HEATER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE HEATER CONTROL MODULATOR WAS MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING A REPLACEMENT BOX. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE WAS BEGINNING TO RECUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
WE WERE DRIVING JEEP ON HIGHWAY AND ALL WAS NORMAL. WE STOPPED FOR FUEL AND WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR IT IDLED VERY ROUGH AND STARTED SMOKING. SHUT CAR OFF AND UPON INSPECTION THE ROCKER ARM HAD BEEN PUSHED THROUGH THE VALVE COVER. APPEARS TO BE DAMAGE TO VALVE BUT DO NOT KNOW EXTENT OF DAMAGE YET. ENGINE HAD APPROX. 108,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND KEPT STALLING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS. ANOTHER COMPUTER WAS INSTALLED BUT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE THROTTLE POSITION, IDLE AIR CONTROL, AND MAP SENSORS WERE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAD HARD START PROBLEM AND THE FUEL INJECTORS AND FUEL FILTER WERE REPLACED. STARTED VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY AND HEARD POPPING NOISES AND IT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT DOWN. THE COLI PACK HAD TO BE REPLACED. NUMEROUS VACUUM HOSES HAVE POPPED OFF DURING DRIVING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. NO ERROR CODES OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON EVEN THOUGH THESE THINGS WERE HAPPENING. A YEAR AGO THE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED AND HAS CURRENTLY GONE BAD AGAIN. I HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND LET IT IDLE BEFORE I DRIVE IT OR THE TRANSMISSION WILL JERK. I ALSO HAVE TO LET THE TRUCK STAY CRANKED FOR 10-15 MINUTES BEFORE I CAN DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT TAKES THAT LONG FOR IT TO IDLE DOWN. MY DRIVER SEAT CONTROLS WILL NOT WORK, AND THE PASSENGER WINDOW WILL NOT STAY UP AND THE CONTROLS WILL NOT WORK. IF YOU DO RESEARCH ON THE 2000-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS, YOU WILL FIND THE EXACT SAME ISSUES FROM EVERYONE WHO HAS OWNED THESE SPECIFIC YEARS AND MODELS. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE CONSTANT ISSUES, YET THE 2000-2004 MODELS ARE NOT ON THE BUY BACK LIST. THE DEALERSHIPS EVEN HAVE A PROBLEM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WHICH IS WHY IT COSTS SO MUCH AND THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE TO EXIST. OWNERS HAVE HAD TO CONSULT WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS TO WORK TOGETHER TO TRY TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OURSELVES. 2002 WITH ONLY 115,000 MILES ON IT. THERE WOULD BE MORE MILES ON IT IF PROBLEMS WOULD STOP OCCURRING WITH THESE VEHICLES AND PREVENTING PEOPLE FROM DRIVING. I PUT THE DATE WHEN IT STARTED IN 2012, BUT CONSTANT PROBLEMS ARE STILL CONTINUING TO THIS DATE AND YEAR OF 2015.

AFTER SPEAKING WITH TEM THEY ADVISE TO SEND INFORMATION TO YOU. PLEASE ADVISE OF WHAT TO FOLLOW UP ON.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE RECALL NOTICE AND SEEKS REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED IT HAS BEEN ONE YEAR, SINCE THE AIR BAG RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED AND CHRYSLER HAS YET, TO REMIT COMPENSATION. IN JUNE OF 2012, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND IT REMAINED LIT WHENEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE CODE IN THE ECM SHOWED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH ONE OF THE SENSORS FOR THE ORC MODULE. AS THERE WAS NO ALTERNATIVE, THE CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE MODULE WITH A NEW UPDATED MODULE. THE CONSUMER SUBMITTED HIS ORIGINAL RECEIPT AND PROOF OF PAYMENT BY MAIL TO CHRYSLER AS INSTRUCTED. RATHER THAN RECEIVING THE REIMBURSEMENT WITHIN 60 DAYS AS WRITTEN IN THE NOTICE, HE WAS INSTEAD CONTACTED BY CHRYSLER WHO REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. HE WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE SUPPLEMENTAL JUMPER HARNESS WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO COMPENSATE HIM.
WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NOW THEY WONT GO OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN HOOKED UP TO COMPUTER BUT ALL IT SAYS IS THAT THERE'S AN EMISSIONS LEAK BUT NO ONE CAN FIND IT. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WONT GO OFF. *TR

MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT, THE AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING, THE AIR BAGS LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF, HEADLIGHTS COME ON AND OFF WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE VEHICLE, THE ELECTRICAL SENSORS ARE INOPERABLE, AND THE HEATED SEATS GET TOO HOT, OR NOT WORK AT ALL. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ANY RECALLS FOR MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES FOR THE PROBLEMS THAT HAVE PROMPTED CHRYSLER TO ISSUE RECALL NOTICES FOR ABOVE ISSUES. *TR
I WAS SENT NOTICE 6 MONTHS OR SO AGO, AND HAVE CALLED KIMBERLY CHRYSLER 3 TIMES WITH REGARD TO THE SAFETY RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HEAR FROM JEEP AS TO WHEN THIS WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. I READ ON THE CHRYSLER RECALL PAPER THAT IF I DID NOT GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF TO REPORT THIS TO YOU. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OF, AND I AM VERY UPSET THAT THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT THINK THAT MY JEEP IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO HANDLE THIS MATTER. PLEASE ADVISE. DRIVING MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON 4/15/2012, I APPROACHED A STOP SIGN AND PROCEEDED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT FUNCTIONED AS NORMAL FOR MAYBE 2-3 SECONDS. THE BRAKE PEDAL THEN LOST IT'S PRESSURE AND DROPPED TO THE FLOORBOARD. I PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND OPENED THE HOOD. NO EVIDENCE OF BRAKE FLUID WAS VISUALLY APPARENT AT THE MASTER CYLINDER, THOUGH THE FLUID WAS APPROX. 1/2" LOW IN THE RESERVOIR. LOOKING UNDER THE VEHICLE AT EACH WHEEL TO SEE IF BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE WAS EVIDENT AT ANY OF THE CALIPER(S), I NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINE FASTENED ALONG THE FRAME RAIL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF CORROSION OR DAMAGE OF ANY KIND, THE BRAKE LINES WERE STILL BRIGHT AND SHINEY, THE WAY STAINLESS APPEARS, AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF RUST OR CORROSION ON THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE EITHER. I CANNOT VERIFY THAT THE LEAK WAS INDEED COMING FROM THE BRAKE LINE, AS THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ON A LIFT FOR A BETTER VISUAL INSPECTION. I'M QUESTIONING IF THE BRAKE SYSTEM HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP VEHICLES AND IF ANYTHING HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. *JS

THE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V527000 (AIR BAGS) WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE RECALL WAS SCHEDULED TO BEGAN IN APRIL OF 2013 AND THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN EXPECTED DATE FOR THE REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
STRONG GASOLINE SMELL INSIDE CAR CABIN....DTC P0455 WAS FOUND.....SPLIT HOSES WERE FOUND AT THE EVAP .CANISTER......COMMENT : POTENTIAL FLASH FIRE INSIDE CABIN HAD THE REAR BUMPER [ LEFT REAR] (DRIVER SIDE ) OF BUMPER BEEN HIT IN AN ACCIDENT.
THE DEFROST ONLY WORKS 50% OF THE TIME. DID NOT WORK WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I COULD NOT SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. IN 2012 OR BEFORE, PRIOR TO WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON MARCH 20, 2012, THIS VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO A RECALL NOTICE. MANY TIMES, AND MOST RECENTLY IN AUGUST 2020, TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE DEFECT, AND I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THE PART IS NOT "IN STOCK".
