FAILURE OF HEATING SYSTEM ON PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OF A BLEND DOOR CAUSED ONLY COLD AIR TO BE SENT TO ALL PASSENGER SIDE AIR DISCHARGES WHICH INCLUDE THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER. ON COOL MORNING THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD WOULD NOT CLEAR COMPLETELY OF DEW, THIS PROBLEM COULD SEVERELY COMPROMISE SIGHT OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE IN THE WINTER MONTHS. SEVERAL WEB SITES THAT WERE VISITED WHILE RESEARCHING CAUSE INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND PARTS HAVE BEEN UPGRADED, ALSO STATED THAT DUE TO LABOR INVOLVED THAT IT WAS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. SOME PEOPLE WRITING IN TO THESE SITES INDICATED THAT REPAIRS WOULD NO BE MADE. INDIVIDUAL DRIVING AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE PUBLIC THAT ARE ON THE ROADWAYS WITH THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. *JB
I HAVE A 02 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL ON THE FRONT ROTORS IN 2004 AND WE HAD THEM REPLACED AT NO EXPENSES TO US. NOW TWO YEARS LATER THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS CAME BACK. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY WOULD NOT WARRANTY THE PROBLEM AGAIN. WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR COST OURSELVES. *NM
I OWN A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND WITH 60,000 MILES. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WERE (1) RAPID FOGGING OF FRONT WINDSHIELD,(2) FOGGING OF FRONT PASSENGER WINDOWS,(3) FAILURE OF PASSENGER HEAT AND DRIVER HEAT FUNCTION, AND (4) ONLY COLD AIR RELEASE ON BOTH SIDES OF JEEP. CONSEQUENTLY,(1) THE WINDSHIELD AND FRONT WINDOWS DO NOT DEFOG, AND (2) NO HEAT WHATSOEVER COMES FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AND DASHBOARD VENTILATION SYSTEM. TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, A "BLEND AIR DOOR" IS NECESSARY AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1,200 INCLUSIVE OF 7 HOURS OF LABOR. ACCORDING TO THE CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND ONLINE FORUMS, THIS HAS BECOME A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2000-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITEDS WITH DUEL ZONE VENTILATION SYSTEMS. *TR
NO HEAT DUE TO BLEND DOOR FAILURE AND DEFECTIVE HVAC SYSTEM. *JB
BLEND DOOR ASSEMBLY AND HEATER CORE FAILED ON 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. RESULTED IN LOSS OF DEFROSTER FOR FRONT WINSHIELD WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF VISION THROUGH WINDSHIELD. REPLACED HEATER CORE, BLEND DOOR ASSEMBLY, ACTUATOR, AND RECIRCULATION DOOR ASSEMBLY. *NM
2002 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERHEATED AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO MECHANIC. FAN BLADE SEPARATED FROM THE FAN, WHICH PUT A HOLE IN THE RADIATOR. *TS THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON AUGUST 24, 2006. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE FAILURE STEMS FROM A RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED ON AUGUST 30, 2006 BY DAIMLER CHRYSLER. THE DEALER THAT SERVICED THE VEHICLE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THE FAILURE OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE RECALL BEING RECEIVED. AFTER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE FAN RELAY SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE THERMOSTAT. WHILE REPAIRING THAT PROBLEM THE TECHNICIAN FOUND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. THE DEALER DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPLACE IT. THE HEAD GASKET WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRANSMISSION CABLE BROKE WHILE THE DEALER WAS TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL REPAIRS. *NM
THE HEATER HAS STOPPED WORKING BLOWING ONLY COLD AIR OUT OF THE VENTS, DOESN'T PROPERLY DEFROST WINDOWS, SO WHEN DRIVING ON COLD DAYS THE WINDOW FOGS UP CAUSING A HAZARD, VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE, ALMOST HIT SOME OTHER CARS BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF VISIBILITY. NOT TO MENTION DRIVING IN A FREEZING CAR WITH MY YOUNG CHILD. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR AND THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT POWER WINDOWS SLID DOWN ON THEIR OWN AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. THERE WAS A BROKEN WHITE PLASTIC PIECE NOTED INSIDE THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED. ADDITIONALLY, ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON A DRY HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 60 MPH; WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT DEACTIVATE AND ACCELERATED UNTIL THE GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKE AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO A STOP.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE PUMPED IN ORDER TO STOP. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE TOO THIN FOR THE VEHICLE AND THICKER ROTORS SHOULD BE INSTALLED.
VISIBILITY: DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER SYSTEM:WINDSHIELD:BLOWER BLEND DOORS ARE BROKEN, RESULTING IN NO HEAT ON PASSENGER SIDE, AND NO DEFROST FOR THE WINDSHIELD. *JB
2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVERAL EXPENSES RELATED TO VEHICLE AND REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRONT BRAKES WHICH INCLUDED THE ROTORS MASTER CYLINDER, LEFT REAR SEAL AXLE, BEARING, SNAP RING HAD TO BE REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ALSO, THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND SMOKE WAS EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE ON ONE OF THOSE OCCASIONS. IT WAS DISCOVERED THE RELAY FAN RADIATOR FAN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRANSDUCE PRESSURE SENSOR, SOLENOID, TRANSMISSION GOV AND GASKET WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 530.50. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THE HORN BEGAN BLARING FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND THEN STOPPED WORKING/ TWO DAYS LATER, ALL THE GAUGES IN THE VEHICLE WENT TO ZERO AND ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE WINDOWS DID NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND A DIAGNOSTICS TEST REVEALED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. UPDATED 11/10/11*JB UPDATED 11/22/11. *JB
ANYTIME I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND IT CHANGING INTO ANOTHER GEAR, THE CAR STALLS AND WITH A VIOLENTLY PUSH FORWARD. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I AM SPEEDING AND IT CHANGES GEARS. ALMOST EVERYONE WHO SITS IN MY CAR COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS ROCKING AND TELLS ME IT MAY INJURE ME SOMEDAY. *JB
VEHICLES FAILS TO DEFROST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD AND DOOR WIDOW DUE TO IT BLOWING COLD AIR ONLY. DEALER REPORTS THAT THIS IS EXTREMELY COMMON AND IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT FIX. *JB
2002 JEEP GC OVERLAND. FOR THE PAST 20K MILES BLEND DOORS DO NOT OPERATE PROPERLY CAUSING TERRIBLE FROSTING OF INTERIOR DURING COLD WEATHER. SAFETY LIABILITY. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT BECAME SO HOT THAT IT FELT LIKE THE SEAT BURNED THE CONTACT'S LEG. INITIALLY THE SEAT BECAME VERY HOT INTERMITTENTLY. A WEEK PRIOR TO COMPLETE FAILURE, THE SEAT BECAME EXTREMELY HOT EVERY DAY. THE SEAT'S HEAT FUNCTION STOPPED WORKING. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BURN. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, # 06V197000, REGARDING THE SEATS: FRONT ASSEMBLY: SEAT HEATER/COOLER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. UPDATED 11/21/06. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S COOLING SYSTEM FAN WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED UNDER RECALL 06V199000. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WILL NOT REIMBURSE THE CONTACT.
ON 8/25/06 WE HEARD A LOUD POP UNDER THE HOOD AND THE JEEP STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND STOPPED THE CAR UNTIL IT COOLED DOWN, CHECKED THE WATER LEVELS. CALLED A MECHANIC TO CHECK IT OUT AND FOUND THAT THE BLADES FROM THE FAN WERE ALL GONE AND THE RADIATOR WAS DENTED AND THE FAN SHIELD WAS BROKEN. I CALLED THE DAIMLERCHRYSLER TOLL FREE NUMBER AND WAS ON HOLD 45 MINUTES EACH TIME I CALLED, FINALLY SPOKE TO SOMEONE AND WAS TOLD WE HAD TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP TO GET A DIAGNOSIS IN ORDER TO DO AN INVESTIGATION. *NM
ON 6/19/06 WE TOOK THE JEEP IN TO ANCIRA JEEP ON 281 N. BECAUSE OF OVERHEATING AND A RUMBLING NOISE. THEY CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FAN OR MOTOR AND PAID $80.50. NOW ON FRIDAY 8/25/96 WE HEARD A LOUD POP SOUND AND THEN THE CAR STARTED TO OVERHEAT, STOPPED THE CAR UNTIL IT COOLED DOWN AND CHECKED THE WATER LEVELS IN THE RADIATOR. ON 8/26 HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND FOUND THE THAT ALL THE BLADES TO THE FAN WERE BROKEN OFF AND HAD BROKEN THE RADIATOR SHIELD AND DENTED THE RADIATOR. WE CAN NOT DRIVE THE CAR IF IT IS OVERHEATING AND LOOKING AT ALL THE COMPLAINTS IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A MAJOR RECALL ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE 1-800-853-1403 FOR CLOSE TO 2 HOURS DURING MY BREAKS AND STILL HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE. I DO HAVE A REFERENCE # AND WILL KEEP TRYING LATER AFTER I GET OUT OF WORK. PLEASE, PLEASE WE NEED ASSISTANCE, MY SON NEEDS HIS CAR TO DRIVE TO COLLEGE AND WE HIS PARENTS HAVE TO WORK. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED WITH A CHILD WITH DOWN SYNDROME STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE FAN BLADES BROKE RESULTING IN A LOUD POP. THE BLADES DENTED THE RADIATOR AND BROKE THE SHROUD. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN REGARDING THE SAFETY OF HER CHILD DURING THIS INCIDENT. IN JUNE 2006, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A NOISE AND IT OVER-HEATED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINED THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE INCIDENT WAS RELATED TO THE RECENT FAILURE.
LARGE VIBRATION IN CAR WAS NOTED ALONG WITH NOISES EMANATING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I LIFTED THE HOOD TO FIND THE RADIATOR AND SHROUD SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND PIECES OF PLASTIC WAS THROWN FROM THE FAN AT ME!. IT SEEMS ONE OF THE BLADES BROKE OFF SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSING THE FAN TO BE OUT OF BALANCE AND BREAK APART DESTROYING THE SHROUD --BLADES ALSO WENT INTO THE RADIATOR AND DAMAGED IT AS WELL. *JB
HEATER SYSTEM FAILS AND WILL NOT BLOW HOT AIR. BLEND DOOR, AND MOTOR REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED AT A COST OF $800.00. I HAVE A 2001 AND 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BOTH OF WHICH HAVE FAILED. ONE FAILED TWO TIMES. EACH REPAIR IS $800+. *TR
UPON IGNITION, RADIATOR FAN EXPLODED INTO PIECES RANDOMLY. FOUND MANY MANY OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS INCIDENT, AND ALL DEALERS AND REPRESENTATIVES OF CHRYSLER DENY ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE INCIDENT. ON SUNDAY AUGUST 20 I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS SHAKING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. ON MONDAY AUGUST 21 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT WE NEEDED NEW SPARK PLUGS. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED. ON TUESDAY AUGUST 22 WHEN I WAS LEAVING WITH MY VEHICLE IT WAS STILL SHAKING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A BAD 02 SENSOR. ON WEDNESDAY AUGUST 23 HE CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT THE O2 SENSOR WAS NOT THE PROBLEM AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. ON THURSDAY AUGUST 24 I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD US THAT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE THE ENGINE APART. THEY CALLED ME ON FRIDAY AUGUST 25 AND SAID THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS BECAUSE OF "CARBON BUILD UP". WHEN ASKED WHAT CAUSED THE BUILD UP THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE DID NOT KNOW. WHEN ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS THE MECHANIC SAID YES. *NM
2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. STEERING WHEEL BEGAN MAKING STRANGE SOUNDS. STEERING GEAR AND ASSOCIATED PARTS WERE REPLACED. SHORTLY AFTER, STRANGE SOUNDS RETURNED, THE STEERING BEGAN TO BECOME COMPLETELY UNASSISTED AT LOW SPEEDS FOR A BRIEF SECOND. THE PROBLEM CAUSES QUITE A SCARE AND CAUSES TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS IS ASSOCIATED WITH LOW SPEED IDLE. DAMAGE IS IMMINENT WITHOUT REPAIR. THIS PROBLEM IS WELL DOCUMENTED AMONG JEEP CHAT ROOMS. SECOND WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM AMONG JEEP OWNERS. FAULTY POWER WINDOW UNITS THAT FAIL WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSE WINDOW TO BE STUCK UP OR DOWN. THIS CAUSES DRIVER TO BE FORCED TO DRIVE WITH OPEN NON RESPONDING WINDOWS IN A VARIETY OF WEATHER CONDITIONS, OBVIOUS SAFETY AND HEALTH HAZARD. THIRD CHRONIC HAZARD WELL KNOWN TO JEEP OWNERS AS WELL AS JEEP. THE BLEND DOORS ON A/C CONSISTENTLY FAIL RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD. THIS CAUSES A FAILURE OF THE DEFROSTER AND OBVIOUS DANGER, AS WELL AS DRIVERS ARE FORCED TO DRIVE WITH CONSTANT UNHEATED AIRFLOW UNTIL COSTLY REPAIR. JEEP IS WELL AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM AND OFFER CORRECTION FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *NM
AFTER READING ALMOST ALL COMPLAINTS WITH OTHER 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES, I HAVE TO PUT IN MY TWO CENTS WORTH. I CAN RELATE TO ALMOST EVERY COMPLAINT THAT THERE IS. I JUST HAD BOTH MY FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED A MONTH AND A HALF APART, ONE JUST TODAY AT $327.00 WITH MY EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT. (I WORK FOR A CAR DEALERSHIP) LAST MONTH, I HAVE HAD ALMOST $500.00 WORTH OF REPAIRS FOR MY POWER STEERING PUMP PROBLEMS. I HAVE HAD MY BRAKE ROTORS TURNED AND RESURFACED AND AM IN NEED OF DOING IT AGAIN. THEN ON THE OTHER HAND, I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH MY DUAL CONTROL PANEL NOT WORKING CORRECTLY WHICH I HAVE NOT HAVE REPAIRED YET BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR THAT ONE AND DIDN'T KNOW AT THE TIME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM. THEN WHEN MY JEEP WAS UNDER WARRANTY I HAVE HAD THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR REPLACED, NEW BATTERY(FOR HARD OR NO STARTING), AMONGST OTHER REPAIRS THAT I CAN'T THINK OF AT THE MOMENT. I HAVE ALSO BEEN EXPERIENCING HARD STARTS WITH MY TRUCK AND ALSO THE TRANSMISSION NOT ENGAGING OR JUMPING (ACCELERATING) WHILE SWITCHING GEARS THAT THE JEEP DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RECOGNIZE AS A PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT THOSE NEW CHRYSLER COMMERCIALS ARE NOT UP TO PAR AS AMERICAN AND GERMAN ENGINEERING. THOSE GERMANS KNOW HOW TO BUILD VEHICLES IN THE FIRST PLACE AND HELP REPAIR THEM AS THE PROBLEM SEEM NECESSARY. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING A NOISE WAS OBSERVED UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE PLASTIC BLADES OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FAN SEPARATED AND PENETRATED THE SHROUD AND RADIATOR. THERE WAS A RECALL #06V199000 PERTAINING TO THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FRONT AND BACK DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOWS COULD NOT BE OPENED. HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST $358 TO HAVE THE WINDOW REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 09/11/07 *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED, WHICH PROMPTED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A PRIVATE REPAIR SHOP. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COOLING FAN HAD SEPARATED AND DESTROYED THE FAN SHROUD. THE PIECES ALSO DAMAGED THE RADIATOR, CAUSING A MAJOR COOLANT LEAK. THE RECALL WAS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING AUGUST 2006. UPDATED 10/25/2006 - THE MANUFACTURER REIMBURSED THE CONSUMER FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. *NM
MY 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A SECURE LATCH FOR THE USE OF A SAFETY SEAT IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PUT IT THERE. *JB
I HAVE A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WHICH HAD AN EXCESSIVE PULL TO THE RIGHT. I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE AN ALIGNMENT DONE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT AN ALIGNMENT COULD NOT BE DONE AS PER TECH. BULLETIN #02-006-04. THAT SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE A DRIFT TO THE RIGHT AND CAN ONLY BE CORRECTED BY REPLACING THE MANUFACTURES FRONT UPPER BALL JOINTS WITH OFF-SET BALL JOINTS. I WAS ALSO TOLD SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY, THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT, IT WOULD COST ME APPROX. $1200.00 TO REPLACE THEIR MISTAKE. IF THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE RIGHT, IT TO ME IS A SAFETY ISSUE, WHICH SHOULD BE A RECALL. *JJB
I SHUT THE PASSENGER DOOR AND MY WINDOW FELL. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS YEAR FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. FIRST IT WAS THE DRIVER SIDE AND THEN THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW. THE GUY AT THE JEEP PLACE SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THE GRAND CHEROKEE. THIS IS $450 FOR EACH TIME. *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH THROUGH A COMMERCIAL AREA DURING VERY HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE. THE VIBRATION OCCURRED RIGHT BEFORE THE COOLING SYSTEM CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO RUN AT HIGH TEMPERATURES AND OVER HEAT RESULTING IN A BLOWN ENGINE COOLING FAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE SHROUD AND THE PLASTIC BLADE OF THE ELECTRIC MOTOR FAN. THE MECHANIC ALSO INDICATED THAT THE PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE WAS A RECALL # PERTAINING TO THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:FAN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.

THE WINDOW, WHEN FAILS, FALLS DOWN IN ITS TRACK AND ON ONE OCCASION HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IT STARTLED ME. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE BRAKES WERE RUBBING AGAINST THE DISCS CAUSING FRICTION WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKES TO OVERHEAT. THE CALIPER WAS ALSO LEAKING. THE BRAKE CALIPERS, BRAKE SHOES AND PADS WERE REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, A DOG PUSHED THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO REVERSE WHICH CAUSED THE HIGH GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION TO BE INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE SHIFT BUTTON FAILED.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING SIGNIFICANT VIBRATIONS IN MY STEERING WHEEL WHEN GOING OVER 45 AND STEPPING ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN, I THOUGHT MY TIRES OR WHEELS WERE OUT OF BALANCE BUT THEY INFORMED ME I HAVE WARPED ROTORS WHICH NEED TO BE REPLACED AND ALSO THE BRAKE PADS AT A COST TO ME OF OVER FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS.
