THE STEERING COLUMN VIBRATES WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS (USUALLY AT LOWER SPEEDS). TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES, FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE HOSES, SECOND TIME REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN, AND THE THIRD TIME THEY STATED THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH A PIECE OF METAL IN THE COLUMN THAT VIBRATES DUE TO A SMALL GAP WITHIN THE STEERING COLUMN. I WAS TOLD THIS WOULD BE A FEW MONTHS, HOWEVER, 6 MONTHS HAVE NOW PASSED AND I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. ONE SIDE NOTE, IT SEEMS TO DO IT LESS IN COLDER WEATHER! *NLM
WHILE DRIVING, THE CONSUMER HAD APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED. TS THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE HARDER HE PRESSED THE BRAKES, THE MORE THE REVVING INCREASED AND FORWARD SURGING OCCURRED. SCC

WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH THE VEHICLE WILL VIBRATE. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. MR
OUR VEHICLE HAS A GROWLING NOISE IN THE STEERING SYSTEM. THIS OCCURS OCCASIONALLY WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS TO THE RIGHT, WHETHER DRIVING FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. DEALER 1 TOOK THE CAR FOR A DAY AN REPORTED THAT PARTS WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED. THEY WOULD CALL WHEN PARTS ARRIVED. AFTER SEVERAL FRUITLESS ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE IF PARTS HAD ARRIVED, CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER 2 WHOSE SERVICE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED THE SYMPTOMS AND REPLACED THE POWER STEERING HOSES AND VALVES. ON THE SECOND VISIT, NOTHING WAS CORRECTED AS DEALER 2 CHECKED THE STEERING WHEEL AREA VALVES AND BEARINGS. DEALER 2 SAID THAT JEEP ENGINEERS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND EXPECT TO HAVE A FIX IN A MONTH OR TWO. FIRST PURCHASED IN JUNE 2002 AND NOTICED WITHIN ONE WEEK. NOISE CONTINUES TO BE PRESENT. IS THERE A STEERING AND CONTROL ISSUE LOOMING ON THE HORIZON?. *JB
DEFECTIVE FRONT SEAT ON MY JEEP CHEROKEE 2002 HAD BROKEN. *TR
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT HAS 37,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. HE STATES THAT CHRYSLER HAS REPLACED THE ROTORS SIX TIMES AND CUT THEM DOWN TWICE. THEY WERE DOING THIS REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, AND NOW HIS EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. WARRANTY EXPIRED, AND THEY WILL NOT DO IT ANYMORE THEY TOLD HIM IT WOULD COST HIM 235.00 TO REPLACE. CHRYSLER TOLD HIM THAT THEY HAD GONE ABOVE AND BEYOND AND THAT WAS ALL THEY WERE GOING TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE. TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE JEEP VEHICLES AND THEY ALL HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER 3000 MILES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. BETWEEN 3000 MILES-5000 MILES MILES THE ROTORS WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
THE CONSUMER PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AND HIT A UTILITY POLE. THE CONSUMER SUSTAINED SOME INJURIES AND THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. *AK THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL RELATED TO THE PROBLEM. *NM
WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL AND AND WITH NO WARNING VEHICLE WILL SHIFT GEARS AND VEHICLE WILL START TO ACCELERATE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
VEHICLE REARENDED ANOTHER AT 55 MPH AND UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE WAS 6083 DOLLARS. DEALER STATED AIRBAGS WORKED AS DESIGNED.*AK CONSUMER LISTED THAT THERE WERE 5 INJURIES. *TT
WHILE DRIVING LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *AK CONSUMER ALSO STATES THAT THE ABS FAILED, THREE PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT. *SLC
A LOUD HIGH PITCHED WHIRRING NOISE IS HEARD, WHENEVER THE ENGINE IS "UNDER LOAD"(EG. WHENEVER STEP ON GAS, WHILE VEHICLE TRAVELING AT (APPX) 60 MPH). TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT CALLED PERTAINING TO THE CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST JEEP FOR THE BRAKES. SHE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING SEVERE BRAKE AND ROTOR FAILURE. SHE STATED THAT WHEN SHE DEPRESSES THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE PULSATES HORRIBLY AND OUT OF CONTROL, CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE. EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY STATED THAT SHE NEEDED A FRONT END ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT HAS HAD THE ALIGNMENT PERFORMED THREE TIMES AND THE FAILURE STILL OCCURS. SHE HAS CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT SHE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE CLASS ACTION SUIT BECAUSE HER VEHICLE IS AN OLDER MODEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MECHANICS HAVE CONTINUED TO PLACE THE FAULTY PART ON HER VEHICLE DUE TO THE DATE OF THE CLASS ACTION SUIT. NEW TIRES WERE ALSO INSTALLED AS SUGGESTED BY THE MECHANIC. APPROXIMATELY 10,000 MILES LATER, THE BRAKES ARE NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 80,655 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
JEEP 2004 AND DOWN HAVE WATER LEAKAGE ON PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDES DUE TO A/C. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL JEEP OWNERS AND THEY EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS CAN CAUSE MILDEW AND MOLD (HEALTH PROBLEMS) TO BUILD UP WHICH ALSO LEAVES A VERY UGLY SMELL. THE AMOUNT OF WATER IS RIDICULOUS THAT WHEN YOU LIFT THE CARPET THE WATER IS VISIBLE AND YOU NEED TO SUCTION OUT ALL THE WATER. UNKNOWN FIX TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE READ THAT THE A/C SYSTEM WAS POORLY BUILT AND THIS PROBLEM IS EXISTENT ON 90% OF ALL JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. IT IS NOT A DRAIN PROBLEM FROM CLOTTING AND YOU CAN SEE THE WATER DRIPPING ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT I HAD NOTICED ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS THAT WHEN I TRIED TO PARK AT A SLOW SPEED, PRESSED THE BRAKE, THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND REAPPLIED IT, WHICH STOPPED THE FORWARD MOVEMENT. THEN I WAS ABLE TO PARK THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT (5/22/02), I NOTICED A CAR 40-50 YARDS IN FRONT OF ME HALF WAY INTO A RIGHT TURN. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WITHIN 10-15 YARDS OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS MOVING FORWARD EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE. IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE OTHER CAR FLUSH FROM THE REAR, I SWERVED THE JEEP TO THE LEFT AND STRUCH HIS LEFT REAR LIGHT A GLANCING BLOW. AT THAT POINT I STOPPED THE CAR BY REAPPLYING MY FOOT TO THE BRAKE. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BUERGE CHRYSLER JEEP, THE BRAKES SYSTEM WAS EXAMINED BY MY SERVICE MAN WHO AGREED WITH ME THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY SOFT AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I ASKED HIM TO SEE IF THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW. HE SAID THAT CHRYSLER WOULD BRING IN AN INDEPENDANT INVESTIGATOR. ON WED. 5/29/02, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE INVESTIGATOR WHO SAID THAT HIS REPORT WOULD BE SUBMITTED IN 10 DAYS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR SAID THE CAR COULD BE RELEASED TO ME AND THAT, IN FACT, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS THAT HE COULD FIND. I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER TO REEXAMINE THE CAR AND DRIVE WITH ME, AND HE SAID THAT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN THESE SITUATIONS WERE A DEFECT IS INTERMITTANT AND IS NOT ALWAYS OBVIOUS. ONE OTHER INCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, IT MADE AN UNUSUAL WOOSHING SOUND WHICH I HAD NOT HEARD BEFORE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR.*AK
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE FROM EL DORADO JEEP IN MCKINNEY TEXAS, ON 26 DECEMBER 2001. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND HAS NOT COST ANY OUT OF POCKET AS OF YET. THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION, A 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WITH A LITTLE MORE THAN 8000 MILES AND MY WIFE INDICATED THAT THERE SEEMED TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION THEN, WITH THE DEALER UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED A TOTAL OF 7 TIMES FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, AND THE DEALER UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. ON ONE OCCASION IT WAS RETURNED AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE, AND CLUTCHES THAT HAD BEEN BURNT, WERE REMOVED, BUT THEY COULD STILL NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, CABLES HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED, AND SPECS HAVE BEEN RESET, BUT STILL THE DEALER CAN FIND NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS A TOTAL OF OVER 40,000 MILES, MY WIFE IS STILL EXPERIENCING ROUGH SHIFTING, JERKING, AND SOMETIMES SHE STATES THAT IT IS TRYING TO LOCK UP AS SHE IS DRIVING. THIS IS NOT A FIGMENT OF MY WIFE'S IMAGINATION, I HAVE BEEN IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAS DONE SOME OF THESE THINGS, AND HAPPENS WITHOUT NOTICE. IT MAY OPERATE NORMALLY ON ONE OCCASION, AND ON ANOTHER YOU EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM. WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN AND BE THE WRONG TIME! THE DEALERSHIP, EL DORADO CHEVROLET CHRYSLER JEEP OF MCKINNEY IS OWNED BY STAN GRAFF OF GRAFF CHEVROLET OF GRAND PRAIRIE TEXAS. UPON BEGINNING OUR LAST QUEST WITH THE DEALERSHIP, MY WIFE WAS CONTACTED AND IT WAS STATED TO HER THAT THEY DID NOT BELIEVE WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX THE VEHICLE TO SATISFY HER AND SUGGESTED PUTTING HER INTO A NEW JEEP. THEY CLAIM THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE DRIVE OUR VEHICLE AND ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING, NOT JUST WITH JEEP, BUT OTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCTS.
THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR. WHEN I WENT TO GET IT REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT STILL WAS ON. MY SERVICE ADVISOR ADVISED ME THAT HIS TECHNICIAN WAS ON THE PHONE WITH "STAR" TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE THE BODY COMPUTE, BUT THEY WANT KNOW FOR SURE UNITL A WEEK OR SO. THIS WAS ON 07/16/02.*AK
MATERIAL ON SEAT CREATES A STATIC CHARGE THAT IS DISCHARGED WHEN CONSUMER TOUCHES OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE, SUCH AS DOOR, FUEL TANK, ETC,. THIS MAY IGNITE A FIRE. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
VEHICLE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY AT VARIOUS SPEED. AFTER IT STALLS, BRAKES APPLIED, VEHICLE WILL ROLL BACK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE, STATED MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF STALLING PROBLEM.*AK
2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AFTER A DRIVE WHEN PUTTING CAR INTO PARK, THE ENGINE RACED OUT OF CONTROL IN REVERSE. LUCKILY THE BRAKES HELD IT FROM SPEEDING IN REVERSE. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES ON A DOWN HILL POSITION IT CAUSES VEHICLE TO SEVERELY VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLE. DEALER CONTACTED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH SPACE BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *PH WHEN BRAKING, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD GONE BELOW THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE SHOT FORWARD. THE CONSUMER HAD ONE ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. CHRYSLER SAID THERE WAS NO DEFECT. *SCC *JB
MY SUV HAS BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES; THAT TRUCK HAS A SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN ADDITION TO THE SAME PROBLEMS LIKE THE ENGINE SMOKING, ENGINE LIGHT ON AND FAILURE OF RADIO AND ALL BRAKE LIGHTS.*AK
4-11-02 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP FOR LEFT TURNING VEHICLE , CAR ACCELERATED WHILE BRAKE APPLIED, NECCESSITATING DRIVER TO RUN ONTO SHOULDER TO AVOID COLLISION WITH LEFT TURNING VEHICLE.5-01-02 WHILE STOPPING TO ENTER ROADWAY FROM PARKINGLOT CAR ACCERERATED WHILE BRAKE APPLIED, CAUSING CAR TO MOVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. 6-6-02 WHILE GOING THROUGH DRIVE-THRU AT MCDONALD'S, CAR ACCELERATED WHILE BRAKE APPLIED, STOPPING WITHIN INCHES OF PRECEDING VEHICLE. 5-1-02 ADAM'S INSTALLED CO-PILOT. 6-6-02 CO-PILOT ACTIVATED AND CAR TAKEN IN FOR 3RD TIME. AGAIN TOLD COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. REQUESTED CALL FROM CHRYSLER REP. STEVE GRIMWOOD PHONED ON 6-13-02 SAID CANNOT DUPLICATE WHAT WAS REPORTED WRONG WITH VEHICLE, SO CANNOT REPAIR. HAVE SEEN ATTY. SINCE, BUT DO NOT WANT TO DRAG THIS OUT AND AM AFRAID OF VEHICLE HARMING SOMEONE. PLEASE ADVISE.*AK
VEHICLE HAS 7500 MILES AND ALREADY HAS WARPED ROTORS. THERE IS A PULSATING FEELING ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKE IS APPLIED. IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT CHANCES OF IT RE-OCCURING ARE VERY GOOD BECAUSE OF THE ROTORS THAT CHRYSLER USES. VERY DISAPPOINTED.*AK

TL*- THE CONTACT RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE FAN IN HER 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN NOVEMBER AND CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE NOT YET COMPLETED THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PLACED ON A WAITING LIST. ALSO, THERE WAS A BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIBRATE SO MUCH THAT IT FELT AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO COME OFF. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED OVER 300 TIMES. THE BRAKES WERE FAULTY SINCE SHE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DEALER ALWAYS TOLD HER THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A SAFETY BULLETIN IN PLACE. AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $1500. THE CONTACT WAS CHARGED FOR SEVERAL FRONT END ALIGNMENTS THAT NEVER SEEM TO ALLEVIATE THE FAILURE. ALSO, THERE WAS RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE MOTOR OF THE REAR WINDOWS. THE CONTACT HAD ONE MOTOR REPLACED AT A COST OF $300 AND WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE SECOND MOTOR. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED FLUID UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. DEALER DETERMINED THAT TRANSMISSION WAS LEAKING. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER 4 TIMES, SEALS WERE REPLACED, BUT TRANSMISSION STILL LEAKS.*AK

BACKED OUT OF PARKING PLACE, PUT IT IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD NOT MOVE, SHUT VEHICLE OFF STARTED ,PUT BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT WAS OKAY. NHTSA RECALL 02-V-032-000/ MANUFACTURER'S RECALL A10. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR RECALL REPAIRS, AND PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THERE WAS A CONCERN OF HOW LONG THE WAIT WOULD BE TO GET THE NECESSARY PARTS, COULD IGNITE A FIRE .*AK
MY JEEP HAS APPROX 24,000, PREDOMINATELY HIGHWAY. NOT STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT NEED TO BE FULLY REPLACED. MY FATHER HAS A 2001 AND ALSO HAD TO REPLACE HIS FRONT AND REAR ROTORS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A CONTINUAL PROBLEM FOR JEEP AND THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED MORE THOROUGHLY. IF A SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED FOR JEEP OWNERS I AM SURE A PREVALENT NUMBER OF OWNERS WOULD SHARE THIS COMPLAINT. TO ALLOW THIS FACTOR TO EXIST IN SUCH A POPULAR VEHICLE IS A DANGER TO THE CONSUMER AND ANY ONE WHO SHARES THE ROAD. *NLM
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP, 3 TIMES FOR GRINNING-GROWLING NOISES FROM THE FRONT-END, ROUGH RIDE AND BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE TIRES WAS BALANCED TWICE AND ONE BRAKE CALIPERS WAS REPLACED ON 14 OCT. 2002.(SEVERAL PRIOR VISITS BEFORE FOR BRAKE RELATED NOISES AND VIBRATION IN FRONT FLOOR-PAN OF VEHICLE) I WAS INFORMED THAT JEEP WAS COMING OUT WITH A NEW POWER STEERING GEAR BOX TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE EXISTING GEAR BOX. TODATE, THIS PROBLEM WITH THE GRINNING-GROWLING-HOWLING NOISES STILL EXIST. NO RESOLUTION WITH SERVICING DEALER. DT
STARTED PLACED IN DRIVE GAVE GAS AND IT WENT IN REVERSE, PLACED IN PARK, BACK TO DRIVE AND AGAIN IT WENT BACKWARDS, PLACED IN PARK, BACK TO LOW AND IT WENT AHEAD. THEN PLACED INTO DRIVE AND IT WAS OKAY. REPORTED TO MANUFACTURER AND DEALER, CHECKED SAME AND THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP AN EYE ON IT.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 52 MPH AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. UPON IMPACT, FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN INJURIES TO DRIVER AND PASSENGER. *AK CHRYSLER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO MANUFACTURE'S REPONSIBILITY, THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER. *TT
I PLACED A BRAND NEW 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE IN PARK ONLY TO DISCOVER IT HAD EITHER SLIPPED INTO REVERSE OR I DIDN'T CLEARLY HAVE IT IN PARK. I INFORMED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM WITH NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. IT CLEARLY IS STILL A PROBLEM. NO QUESTION IN MY MIND. *AK

WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE JERKED AND FAILED TO STOP COMPLETELY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED THEM THREE TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
ON THE NIGHT OF 02/05/2010 WE WERE DRIVING ON FWY 14 NB AND EARLIER THAT NIGHT WAS RAINING HARD. DUE TO THE STORM THERE WAS A LOT OF WATER ON THE FREEWAY AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE JEEP. THE CAR BEGAN MAKING CIRCLES AND THEN IT ROLL OVER ON THE RIGHT SITE OF THE FREEWAY AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO OPEN. WE HAD THE SEAT BELTS ON, BUT FOR THIS TYPE OF ACCIDENT WHERE THE CAR BECAME A TOTAL LOST , THE AIR BAGS MUST HAD BEEN ACTIVATED. LUCKILY WE ARE ALIVE. WE COULD HAD DIED AND WE WANT TO PREVENT THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE WHO OWNED A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2002. *TR
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THERE WAS A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL. *JB
SINCE PURCHASING MY 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE LTD IN OCTOBER OF 2001 THERE HAS BEEN A TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. WE FIRST BROUGHT THE CAR IN ON 01/17/2002 TO REPORT THIS AND THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE IT. ON 06/27/2003 WE BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN - THIS TIME THE DEALER SAID THAT THE TICKING IS NORMAL FOR THE PURGE SOLINOID VALVE ON THE 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE TICKING IS SUPPOSEDLY CAUSED BECAUSE THE HOUSING AROUND THE EMISSIONS STUFF IS NOT INSULATED. THE NOISE IS VERY IRRITATING AND IS ESPECIALLY LOUD IN THE COOLER MONTHS. *JB A SUGGESTION WAS MADE TO TURN ON THE RADIO - WOW - WHAT A SOLUTION. I DO WONDER IF THIS IS THE REAL REASON OR - LIKE THE HEATER/BLOWER - WILL THIS FAIL NOW THAT THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED?
I AM CONCERNED THAT JEEP HAS UNDER ENGINEERED THE BRAKE SYSTEM FOR THIS MODEL OF CAR. I HAVE THREE COLLEAGUES IN MY OFFICE WHO HAVE THE SAME MODEL AND ALL OF THEM HAVE HAD TO HAVE ROTORS RE-SURFACED OR REPLACED MORE THAN ONCE. THEY WARP REPEATEDLY. I HAVE READ CONSUMER GROUPS FORUMS ON THE INTERNET AND IT IS HAPPENING A LOT. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TO HAVE ALL FOUR ROTORS RESURFACED AS THEY WERE ALL WARPED. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A JEEP SERVICE PERSON AND THEY KNOW OF THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, JEEP WASHES ITS HANDS OF THE PROBLEM AFTER ONE YEAR OR 12, 000 MILES. THIS IS A DESIGN FAULT OF A VITAL SAFETY COMPONENT AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *AK
