I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME "DOOR BLEND" MALFUNCTION THAT THOUSANDS OF OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING. ONE DAY THE SUBSTANDARD VENT DOOR FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE CLIMATE CONTROL BROKE, AND SINCE THEN ONLY COLD AIR BLOWS FROM THOSE VENTS AS WELL AS THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER. THE DEFROSTER WORRIES ME THE MOST AS WITHOUT A CLEAR WINDSHIELD MY VISION IS THUS IMPAIRED AND COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I HAVE SPOKE TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND IT WOULD COST ME UPWARDS OF $1,200.00 TO FIX. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET I SEE THOUSANDS OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, YET NO FACTORY RECALL. JEEP NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR ITS CUSTOMERS BEFORE DANGEROUS OR DEADLY ACCIDENTS OCCUR! *TR
DUAL ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL IN JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BLOWS HOT AIR ON DRIVERS SIDE AND COLD ON PASSENGER SIDE WHEN AC IS ON LOWEST TEMPERATURE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER JUST REPLACED EVERYTHING IN THE DASHBOARD TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THAT AS THE WINTER APPROACHES THE WINDOWS WILL FOG MORE AND ICE UP. THE INPROPER HEATING AND COOLING WILL NOT DEFROST THE WINDOWS CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR DRIVING. MY WIFE USES THIS CAR TO DRIVE MY CHILD AND I DO NOT WANT TO RISK THIER SAFETY. THERE ARE WEBSITES ALL OVER LISTING PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FOR YEARS.
2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED - NO HEAT ON DRIVER'S SIDE - PASSENGER SIDE HEAT IS STILL WORKING. I CHECKED THE CODES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO THE "BLEND DOORS" LOCATED IN THE HEATING/COOLING VEHICLE DUCTWORK. I ALSO DID A GREAT DEAL OF CHECKING VIA THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THERE WERE OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. TO MY SURPRISE, I FOUND THAT THERE WERE A GREAT MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS ALL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR (I SAW WHERE PEOPLE HAD PAID AS MUCH AS $1800.00 TO GET THEIR HEATERS WORKING CORRECTLY). THIS IS NOT JUST A COMFORT PROBLEM (DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS BEING TOO HOT OR TOO COLD), SINCE IT ALSO EFFECTS THE WINDSHIELDS DEFOGGER/DEFROSTER ABILITY, WHICH OF COURSE, CAN LEAD TO AN ACTUAL DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION. WITH SO MANY JEEP OWNERS EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM, IT'S CLEAR THAT THIS IS A MAJOR MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SHOULD LEAD TO A RECALL TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE TO THE OWNER. *TR
2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO THE JEEP WAS RUNNING AND IN PARK. I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE ABOUT 20 YARDS AWAY. THE GEARSHIFT POPPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE ON ITS OWN. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO STOP IT IN TIME. ALSO, WHEN I PARK IT AND TRY TO REMOVE THE KEY THE KEY IS LOCKED IN PLACE LIKE ITS STILL IN GEAR. I HAVE TO PUSH THE GEARSHIFT WITH FORCE TO RELEASE THE KEY. A MECHANIC HAS SAID THAT THE LINKAGE WAS LOOSE. I HAVE TIGHTENED IT AND THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR

I GET COLD AIR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND HOT AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE BLEND DOOR, IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP .. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL, AND 1 WEEK AGO I TRIED TO USE THE HEAT AND HAD NOTHING. I HAVE BLOWER FUNCTIONS, BUT IT ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR. I THEN GOT ON THE INTERNET TO FIND THAT ALL GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS ARE BEING OR SOON WILL BE AFFECTED. I ALSO CALLED SOME LOCAL DEALERSHIPS TO DISCUSS WITH THEM. I FOUND THAT THERE IS SERVICE BULLETINS AND NEW PARTS THAT WERE DEVELOPED FOR THIS ISSUE. I ALSO FOUND THAT THE REPAIR REQUIRES COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF THE HVAC SUB ASSEMBLY AT THE COST OF $900-$1200. THEY ALSO SAY THAT BECAUSE MY HEAT DIED AT 44000 MILES THAT THE WARRANTY IS UP AND THEY WILL NOT HELP UNLESS I PAY. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH THIS ISSUE IS THAT WITH NO HEAT, I CAN NOT DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD, OR EVEN THE WHOLE CAR. I DRIVE 20 MILES TO WORK ONE WAY, ON I-69, FROM INDIANAPOLIS TO NOBLESVILLE, AND I CANNOT IMAGINE WHAT IT WILL BE LIKE ON FREEZING, SNOWING DAY. PLEASE RESEARCH THIS AND THE OTHER COMPLAINTS IN REGARD OF THIS FAILURE AND MAKE CHRYSLER CORP. DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THIS PROBLEM, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED THIS WINTER. *JB

GOOD DAY, I'M FILING A COMPLAINT WITH MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE HEAT HAS STOP WORKING. FIRST IT WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT STOPPED WORKING AND NOW SIMPLY NO HEAT COMES OUT AT ALL. AFTER EXTENSIVE WEB RESEARCHING, I HAVE FOUND A SHOCKING NUMBER OF FELLOW JEEP OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, STEMMING BACK TO 1990 MODELS. APPARENTLY THE "BLEND ACTUATORS" ARE DEFECTIVE AND START TO GO OUT ONE SIDE AT A TIME, FINISHING WITH THE MAIN ACTUATOR FAILING CAUSING NO HEAT WHAT SO EVER!! REPAIR FACILITIES ALL STATE THE SAME THING: ENTIRE DASH MUST BE REMOVED TO REPLACE TWO-THREE DIFFERENT ACTUATORS COSTING AN OWNER IN EXCESS OF CLOSE TO $1000.00. APRIL OF 2006 I PURCHASED MY 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. ABOUT 2WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE BLEND DOORS WHERE BROKEN OR NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1000 TO FIX AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED. I HAD TO GO THROUGH THE VARIOUS LEVELS OF MANAGEMENT UNTIL THEY FINALLY AGREED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. JUST OVER 1 YEAR LATER IN AUGUST OF 2007, I NOTICED THAT THE ABILITY TO DIRECT AIR TO SPECIFIC VENTS, STOPPED WORKING, NOW THE AIR JUST BLOWS INTO THE DASH. I HAVE GONE BACK TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE RECIRCULATE DOOR, WHICH WAS SUPPOSE TO BE CHANGED WHEN THE BLEND DOORS WHERE REPLACED, ACCORDING TO THEIR "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN", WHICH WAS NOT DONE WHEN THE BLEND DOORS WHERE REPLACED. THE COST TO DO THE REPAIR WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $1000 BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS AS WHEN THE BLEND DOORS WHERE REPLACED, EXCEPT THIS TIME THEY WILL REPLACE THE RECIRCULATE DOORS. I REALLY DIDN'T REALIZE THE SAFETY ISSUE THESE COMPONENTS POSED, UNTIL I DROVE IN A SNOW CLIMATE. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. I LITERALLY HAD TO REACH FORWARD WIPE THE WINDSHIELD EVERY COUPLE OF MINUTES WHILE DRIVING IN ORDER TO SEE. IT WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. THESE FAILED COMPONENTS ARE NOT CONSIDERED LUXURY FEATURES, SUCH AS AC, IT'S CONSIDERED A SAFETY FEATURE. THERE IS AN UNUSUALLY HIGH LEVEL OF COMPLAINTS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE VERY SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES, AND CHRYSLER HAS YET TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. DEFROSTERS ARE A SAFETY FEATURE. IN COLD CLIMATES YOU CANNOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE SAFELY WITHOUT THEM. WHEN IS THE MANUFACTURER HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR FAULTY PARTS THAT POSE A SAFETY RISK? DOES SOMETHING HAVE TO HAPPEN? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET INJURED, POSSIBLY WORSE? THE DEALERSHIPS ARE CAPITALIZING THE CONSUMERS ARE HURTING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT HAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE AND HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. SHE REPAIRS HER OWN VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED. SHE PAID $120 FOR THE REPAIRS. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT HER WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL DOWN, AND THE TURN SIGNALS, POWER LOCKS, AND POWER MIRRORS FAILED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE WIRING IN THE DOORS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE PLACING NEW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, THE BOLT MOVED OUT OF POSITION. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND REMOVED THE TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE CENTER LINE AND THE BOLT. WHEN HE TOUCHED THE BOLT TO SEE IF IT WAS TIGHT ENOUGH, IT FELL OFF. HE NOTICED THAT THE BOLT WAS RUSTED AND DISINTEGRATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TWO END PIECES OF THE CENTERLINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 45,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TOP CONNECTOR TO THE POWER STEERING HOSE HAD FAILED AND CAUSED THE FLUID TO LEAK. THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 73,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HEATED SEATS, WHICH TOOK APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES TO WARM UP. THREE MINUTES LATER, THE SEAT WARMED UP EXCESSIVELY AND CAUSED MILD BURNS TO HER BODY. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V197000 (SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT HER OWN EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,220 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,716. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH. SHE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RIDES ROUGHLY. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE MAKES A SNAPPING NOISE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES PULSATE. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, THE BRAKES, FRONT ROTORS, AND PADS WERE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,470.
ALL OF A SUDDEN THE AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) DI DNOT WORK ON THE 2003 JEEP GC LIMITED. THE A/C WORKED ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, BUT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE IT KICKED OUT HOT AIR. THE ERROR CODE WAS #56 AND STATED THAT THE RIGHT TEMPERATURE DOOR TRAVEL WAS TOO LARGE. SO THE WHOLE DASHBOARD HAS TO BE TAKEN OUT, AND THESE DOORS HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR OVER $1000. *AK

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED AND THEY REPLACED THE MOTOR. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED AND THEY MADE THE REPLACEMENT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 52,000. UPDATED 10/10/07 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT, WHO IS A MECHANIC, INSPECTED HIS VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT THE TOP CONNECTOR OF THE POWER STEERING HOSE HAD FAILED AND ALL THE FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 62,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE SEATED IN THE DRIVER SEAT, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT OVERHEATED AND SMELLED LIKE IT WAS BURNING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE SEAT HEATER WAS NOT ACTIVATED AT THE TIME. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V197000 (SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE RADIATOR FAN HAS BURNED OUT TWICE WITHIN 17 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED THE CONTACT WAS PULLING OUT OF A DRIVE THRU AT 10 MPH AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. THE FOLLOWING DAY, SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER FAN RELAY SWITCH FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE RADIATOR FAN NOT TO WORK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FAN AND IT WORKED PROPERLY. HOWEVER, SEVENTEEN MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE HAS RECURRED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE AND THE CONTACT BELIEVES IT IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS NOT FOUND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
I OWN A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH 105K MILES. I AM THE SECOND OWNER. WE PURCHASED THE JEEP SECOND HAND FROM SHEEHY FORD MERCURY IN ASHLAND VIRGINIA ON JANUARY 15TH 2007. THE PART FAILURE APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THE JEEP MODELS WITH DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL BASED ON THE HUNDREDS OF ONLINE FORUMS DESCRIBING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE HVAC "RECIRC" DOORS AND THE "BLEND" DOORS. MY PROBLEM WAS THE RECIRC DOOR HAD BROKEN LOOSE AND HAD FALLEN DOWN COVERING THE VENT SYSTEM ENTIRELY, IN EFFECT, WE HAD NO HEAT, NO A/C AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO DEFROST. VIRGINIA STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT THE VEHICLE MUST HAVE DEFROST TO PASS THE STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. I DID THE REPAIR MYSELF AFTER READING HOW DAIMLER/CHRYSLER HAS COMPLETELY IGNORED THE DESIGN FAULT. NOW, ANYONE WHO HAS THESE MODEL JEEP'S WILL HAVE TO PAY $1200.00 AND UP FOR A REPAIR THAT BREAKS AGAIN DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM USING THE SAME FAULTY PARTS. THE PLASTIC DOOR STOPS BREAK OFF FIRST, THEN DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN, THE DOOR FINALLY BREAKS OFF AND FALLS DOWN BLOCKING ALL AIRFLOW FROM THE HEATING AND AIR SYSTEM. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I ORDERED FROM EBAY, TWO KITS FROM SOMEONE IN TEXAS WHO OFFERS REPLACEMENT STAINLESS STEEL HARDWARE THAT REPLACES THE RECIRC DOORS AND BLEND DOORS. THE KITS COST ME $232.00 DOLLARS AND ABOUT 16 HRS LABOR ALONG WITH BLOODY KNUCKLES. I DECIDED TO NOT WASTE TIME GOING TO A DEALER AND GETTING DENIED REPAIRS DUE TO NO RECALL. THE KITS I USED WERE CALLED HEATERTREATER. I REPAIRED BOTH RECIRC AND BLEND DOORS EVEN THOUGH THE BLEND DOORS WERE NOT A PROBLEM YET. PLEASE, PLEASE SOMEONE FORCE DAIMLERCHRYSLER TO FACE REALITY AND FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR

VEHICLE HAS NO HEAT OR WINDSHIELD DEFROST FUNCTIONS AT ALL. HAD NOT PREVIOUSLY USED VEHICLE UNTIL LATER IN DAY SO HAD NOT NOTICED FAILURE WHICH WAS NOW APPARENT FROM PURCHASE IN APRIL 2007. WILL BE UNABLE TO USE BEYOND SUMMER MONTHS WITHOUT MAJOR EXPENDITURE ESTIMATED TO BE BETWEEN $1,000 & $2,000. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. SOMETIMES IT WILL BLOW HOT AIR WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON AND SOMETIMES IT WILL BLOW COLD AIR WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. I HAVE NOW SPENT $1,100 IN TOTAL RELATED REPAIRS FOR THIS AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR IN THE SHOP FOR OVER2 WEEKS TIME TOTAL. I WAS TOLD THE LAST TIME THAT THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTIED THE DEFECTIVE PART,THE CONTROLLER, AND I WAS NOT CHARGED. TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE THERE IS A DEFECT. EVEN AFTER THE WARRANTY REPAIR IT BROKE AGAIN ONE WEEK LATER. I THINK IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.*AK
EXTREMELY COLD AIR BEGAN BLOWING FROM VENTS WHEN HEAT WAS ON. THIS MALFUNCTION PREVENTS THE WINDOWS FROM DEFROSTING DESTROYING THE VISIBILITY FROM THE WINDSHIELD AND DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT HEARD A HIGH PITCHED NOISE NEAR THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED A LARGE OIL SPILL FROM BENEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT 10 MPH, BUT FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING BOX WAS CRACKED DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 42,550 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,500.*AK
RADIATOR COOLING FAN RELAY HAS BEEN FIXED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. *AK
I OWN A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH 67.900 MILES. THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WERE (1) RAPID FOGGING OF FRONT WINDSHEILD,(2) FOGGING OF FRONT PASSENGER WINDOWS,(3) FAILURE OF PASSENGER HEAT WHILE STILL MAINTAINING DRIVER HEAT FUNCTION, AND (4) ONLY COLD AIR RELEASE ON PASSENGER SIDE OF JEEP. CONSEQUENTLY,(1) THE WINDSHEILD AND FRONT WINDOWS DO NOT DEFOG, AND (2) NO HEAT WHATSOEVER COMES FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AND DASHBOARD VENTILATION SYSTEM. TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, A BLEND AIR DOOR"IS NECESSARY AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $850 ,INCLUSIVE OF 7+ HOURS OF LABOR. ACCORDING TO THE CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND ONLINE FORUMS THIS HAS BECOME A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2000-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITEDS WITH DUEL ZONE VENTILATION SYSTEMS.*AK

MY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE 2003/2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SEAT HEATER RECALL (F17). THE RECALL LETTER WAS MAILED OUT ON OR ABOUT 07/21/2006.MY WIFE HAS CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IN 2006 AND AGAIN IN 2007 IN ORDER TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL WITH THE DEALERSHIP. BOTH TIMES, THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THE PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR MONTHS AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AT THAT TIME AND DID NOT OFFER TO PLACE HER ON A 'WAITING LIST' OR A 'CALL LIST'. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, ELK GROVE CHRYSLER JEEP (CALIFORNIA) ON 03/08/07 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE IN AND AN APPOINTMENT COULD BE MADE. I MADE THE APPOINTMENT. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CONSTITUTES A FAILURE ON THE PART OF DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO REPAIR A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN A "...REASONABLE TIME,...". I KNOW OF NOTHING ELSE THAT I HAVE TO WAIT ALMOST EIGHT(8) MONTHS FOR. *JB

PASSENGER SIDE AIR VENTS OF MY 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STARTED TO BLOW COLD AIR WHEN THE HEAT WAS ON STARTING IN 3/2006. THIS CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH MY WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING WITH THE HEAT ONLY WORKING ON ONE SIDE. DEALER REFUSED TO COVER PROBLEM ("DOOR ACTUATOR") UNDER WARRANTY AND TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $800.00 TO FIX. I DIDN'T EVEN OWN THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH, THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME WITH FAULTY HEAT. NOW ON 2/17/07 I LOST ALL MY HEAT IN THE VEHICLE CAUSING ME TO FREEZE IN THE NEW ENGLAND WEATHER. MORE IMPORTANTLY I CAN'T DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD. I WAS TOLD THE TOTAL COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE $1,000.00. *JB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRE TREADS WERE THINNING. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
