TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MPH ON JUNE 15, 2016, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. A WEEK LATER, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION ON AUGUST 17, 2016. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 240,000.

WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, BOTH SIDE AIR BAGS "EXPLODED" WITH A LARGE BANG AND COVERED ALL SIDE WINDOWS OF THIS VEHICLE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED RATHER DRIVING AND POSSIBLY CAUSING A SERIOUS INJURY TO BOTH MY WIFE AND MYSELF
DRIVING A JEEP 2003 MICH LX TIRE 235/65/R17 SIDEWALL DRY ROT, REPORTED TO MICH THEY SAID IT WAS THE OZONE, AS A SCIENTIST AND AN NDT LEVEL 4 INSPECTOR I WAS SURPRISED THAT THE PERSON THEY SENT ME TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE SPENT LESS THAN 10 MINUTES LOOKING AT THE REMAINING 3 TIRES. THE PERSON REFUSED TO GIVE ME ANY WRITTEN REPORT THE TIRES ONLY HAVE 15K ON THEM. MICHELIN WILL NOT GIVE ME A VOUCHER FOR 4 FREE TIRES I AM AFRAID OTHERS WILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE THE DRY ROT SIDE WALL WILL BLOW OUT AND CAUSE A DEATH OR SEVERAL. MICHELIN RECALLED 1,3 MILLION TIRES VOLUNTARILY BUT REFUSES TO RECALL MINE. BEWARE OF MICHELIN TIRES.
THE WIRE HARNESS GOING TO THE DRIVER DOOR IS NOT LONG ENOUGH SO WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR THE WIRES WILL BECOME LOSE OR DISCONNECT AS A RESULT IN THE POWER LOCKS,POWER MIRRORS,POWER WINDOWS, EVIC CENTER TO MALFUNCTION AND THE ALL THE DOME LIGHTS REMAIN ON. AND I'M NOT THE ONLY VEHICLE TO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM THERE ARE HUNDREDS WROTE ON THE JEEP FORUM.

I HAVE RECEIVED MANY RECALL NOTICES ABOUT THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE FOR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALERSHIP TO GET IT SERVICED. EACH TIME THEY SAY THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THIS RECALL. I DO SEE THE NEED TO INFORM ME OF THE RECALL IF THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT TAKING THE RECALL SERIOUSLY AND ARE MAKING LITTLE NO EFFORTS TO COMPLETE IT.

TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE RECEIVED 2 DIFFERENT NOTICES REGARDING THIS RECALL AND HAVE CALLED THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP ON 8-19-2015, AND 8-14-15 AND TOLD PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. RECEIVED A NEW NOTICE AND CALLED 2-19-16 AND TOLD THE SAME THING....DO I HAVE TO BECOME A STATISTIC BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE?? I KNOW MY JEEP IS AN OLDER MODEL BUT IT LOOKS BRAND NEW, KEPT IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAS ONLY 88145 MILES ON IT.

ON ONE OCCASION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR IMPACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS THE REPAIR. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE STRAP AROUND THE AIR BAG WAS FAULTY AND THAT THE DASHBOARD, STRAP, AND AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS NO LONGER IN PRODUCTION. THE CONTACT WAS KNOCKED BACKWARDS BY THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS ABLE TO GET UP BEFORE BEING ROLLED OVER BY THE REAR TIRES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK INJURIES, CUTS, AND ABRASIONS TO THE LEGS, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE FAILURE. GAS TANK SUBJECT TO FIRE FROM REAR INPACT
BLOWER ONLY COLD AIR ALL THE TIME, MECHANIC SAID VERY POPULAR ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES - SAFETY ISSUE
BOTH LEFT SIDE & RIGHT SIDE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL WHEN APPLYING BRAKES WITH HEADLIGHTS ON. THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ABOVE REAR HATCH DOOR DOES OPERATE HOWEVER. ALL 3 REAR BRAKE LIGHTS DO OPERATE PROPERLY WITH HEADLIGHTS OFF (DAYTIME DRIVING). CONDITION EXISTS WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS OR WHILE STATIONARY EITHER PARKED OR IDLING. TURN SIGNALS OR BACK UP LIGHTS ARE NOT AFFECTED.
