DRIVERS SEAT BRACKET HAS BROKEN CAUSING SEAT TO SEVERELY ROCK. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED BY A WELDER OR REPLACED. CURRENTLY HOLDING TOGETHER WITH A HOSE CLAMP. *TR
VISIBILITY: DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER SYSTEM:WINDSHIELD:BLOWER COLD AIR BLOWING FROM MY VENTS UNCONTROLLABLY FROM PASSENGER SIDE. LOUD CREAKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDERSIDE OF VENTILATION? CREAKING FROM THE DASH SECONDS AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF? AS A RESULT THE DEFROSTERS ON A CAR DO NOT WORK. [XXX]AT JERRY TOYOTA SAID HE FIXED IT WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN JAN. 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A RECALL FOR FRONT SEAT ELECTRIC HEATING ELEMENTS. CONSUMER EXPRESSED DISCONTENT WITH ONE DEALERSHIP AND WAS VERY CONTENT WITH THE WORK DONE BY A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. *KB THE FIRST DEALERSHIP STATED THEY HAD THE PARTS, BUT WHEN THE CONSUMER ARRIVED, SHE WAS INFORMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *JB
LIGHTS WENT HAYWIRE IN THE CAR AS WELL AS THE LOCKS ON THE WINDOWS AND DOORS I.E., ALL OF THE LOCKS DO NOT WORK ON WITH THE REMOTE, THE SIDE MIRRORS DON'T MOVE, AND THE WINDOWS DO NOT MOVE UP OR DOWN. AFTER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DIM TO WHERE THEY CANNOT BE SEEN. FROM AN INTERNET SEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT COST $275 TO REPAIR. I TOOK MY CAR IN TODAY FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD $112 TO LOOK AT THE CAR THAT COULD BE USED TOWARDS THE COST OF THE REPAIR. ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET SEARCH THE PROBLEM WILL BE FROM A DAMAGED WIRE IN THE DOOR THAT WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED/REPLACED. *TR
THE WINDOWS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. WHEN WE PULLED INTO THE GARAGE WE NOTICED SPARKS NEAR THE DOOR HINGE. TWO FACTORY WIRES WERE BROKEN AND MAKING CONTACT, WHICH WAS CAUSING THE ARCING. A JEEP MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT NOTHING WAS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS DEFECT, AND THAT HE HAS SEEN AT LEAST 2 A MONTH WITH THIS DEFECT. IF ANY FUMES FROM THE FUEL WERE PRESENT YOU WOULD HAVE A FIRE. *TR
ON DECEMBER 12, 2010 AT OR AROUND THE HOUR OF 9:30 P.M. CENTRAL TIME I WAS INVOLVED IN A ONE VEHICLE ROLL OVER ACCIDENT DUE TO POOR ROAD CONDITIONS IN MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I WAS THE SOLE INDIVIDUAL IN THE VEHICLE, AND AFTER THE ACCIDENT I FOUND MYSELF IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS HOWEVER BUCKLED IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AT THE START OF THE ACCIDENT. I SUSTAINED A SERIOUS CONCUSSION AND BRUISING TO MY LEFT SHOULDER AND HIP FROM THE SEAT BELT, AS WELL AS OTHER VARIOUS INJURIES. THE FAILURE OF THE SEAT BELT IS MY CONCERN. THE SEAT BELT FAILED DURING THE ACCIDENT IN SOME WAY. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WITH 107,000 MILES. TODAY, 12/9/2010, THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BRACKET CAME LOOSE. I BELIEVE AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET, THAT IT IS A MOUNTING BRACKET. SOME OTHER JEEP CHEROKEE OWNERS COMPLAINED OF THIS PROBLEM. THE SEAT NOW ROCKS WHEN I BRAKE AND ACCELERATE. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF I GET INTO A COLLISION THE SEAT WILL NOT BE LOCKED IN AND THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT FUNCTION. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SEAT OF MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BROKEN FOR UNKNOWN REASONS AND , WITHOUT HOMEMADE, PATCHWORK BRACING, FLOPS BACK LIKE A RECLINER. WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO GET THIS REPAIRED BOTH THROUGH OUR LOCAL DEALER AND THROUGH CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY CLAIM THAT THEY CANNOT SECURE THE PART; WE WERE FIRST TOLD BY THE DEALER WE HAD TO PREPAY FOR THE PART, DID SO, AND THEN THEY REPORTED BACK WEEKS LATER THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PART. UNFORTUNATELY, OUR FINANCIAL SITUATION DOES NOT ALLOW US TO SIMPLY PARK THE VEHICLE AND MAKE DUE. THIS IS TRULY AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT YOU CAN OFFER. *TR
BLEND DOORS NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY, DUAL ZONE CLIMATE CONTROLS FAILING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SOMEONE ALERTED HER THAT NONE OF HER BRAKE LIGHTS WORKED WHEN SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL EXCEPT THE TAIL LIGHT AT THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT A CIRCUIT BOARD COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 149,000.
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO: THE BRAKE LIGHT BULB HOUSING HAS MELTED DUE TO OVERHEATING CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT WORK WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
THERE ARE TWO ISSUES, ONE BEING THE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE DYING ONCE THE VEHICLE IS PUT INTO A FORWARD OR REVERSE POSITION FROM EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE POSITION. SECOND IS THE ISSUE OF THE VEHICLE SURGING FORWARD JUST PRIOR TO STOPPING. THE ENGINE WILL REV UP JUST PRIOR TO STOPPING AND START A HARD BUT LOAD RUMBLING DUE TO THE BRAKES BEING HELD AND THE VEHICLE WANTING TO DRIVE FORWARD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY REPAIR SHOP TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, AND IT IS VERY WEARING OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS ISSUE CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
I OWN A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH A DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT. IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES ON IT. THE FRONT RIGHT SEAT BRACKET BROKE ON 10/20/2010 CAUSING THE SEAT TO ROCK WHILE DRIVING, ACCELERATING OR BRAKING. THE LEFT SIDE BRACKET IS NOW ALSO CRACKED BUT NOT BROKEN ALL THE WAY ACROSS YET. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT MAY BOTH LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND CAUSE ADDITIONAL INJURIES TO THE DRIVER. I AM NOW TRYING TO FIND USED PARTS FOR THE REPLACEMENT AND HAVE LEARNED FROM ONE LOCAL USED AUTO PARTS DEALER (631-654-5172) THAT HE DIDN'T HAVE ANY BECAUSE THIS WAS A :"HOT" ITEM. MY RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET HAS ALSO FOUND IT TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GRAND CHEROKEES. THE SEATS ARE BREAKING WITH NORMAL USE. I HAVE DECIDED TO COMPLAIN TO THE NHTSA AND MY US SENATOR IN THE INTEREST OF PROTECTING OTHERS FROM A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM INVOLVING A LARGE NUMBER OF VEHICLES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HAVE A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE SERVICE, THE TECHNICIANS REFUSED TO PERFORM THE OIL CHANGE BECAUSE THE OIL PAN WAS RUSTED. THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE OIL PAN COULD RUPTURE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT STARTED TO WOBBLE AND THEN ENDED UP SNAPPING. METAL BROKE IN THE FRONT LEFT OF THE SEAT RIGHT BY WHERE THE METAL PIECE IS THAT LIFTS THE SEAT. I DRIVE WITH MY SEAT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND IS NEVER RAISED. THE SEAT MOVES EVERY BEND AND ANYTIME I ACCELERATE OR BRAKE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V117000 (SEATS: FRONT ASSEMBLY: SEAT HEATER/COOLER). THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES WITHIN THE TURN SIGNALS, HAZARD LIGHTS AND THE HEATER FAN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE THE ELECTRICAL WINDOW MOTOR, TURN SIGNALS AND HAZARD LIGHT ELECTRICAL SENSORS WERE REPLACED. THE HEATER FAN WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,058.
WHILE DRIVING WINDSHIELD BEGAN LEAKING AT THE TOP. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GLASS REPAIR COMPANY. ENTIRE WINDSHIELD WAS LOOSE AND COULD HAVE FALLEN OFF AT ANY TIME. REMOVED THE WINDSHIELD, CLEANED THE AFFECTED AREA AND REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SE 4.0L ALL GAUGES BOUNCE AND STOP WORKING AND THE TRUCK START SLOWING DOWN AT 60MPH HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE LEFT SHOULDER. THEN THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART FOR 15MIN JUST AS A TOLL TRUCK WAS PULLING UP. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAY IF THE TRUCK IS RUNNING NOW THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO UNLESS IT IS NOT RUNNING. NOW THE WINDOW AND DOOR LOCKS DOES NOT WORK. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON. AFTER READING SOME OTHER POST ON THE WEB THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. IT SEEM LIKE THERE A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING IN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HARNESS WHERE ONE OF THE WIRES BREAK AWAY FROM THE HARNESS. AFTER READING THE BELOW POST JEEP HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. AS A RESULT, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR CURTAIN CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED AND THE ORC MODULE WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V046000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,070.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN, HE HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE AND COULD FEEL THE SEAT MOVING. THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE MOUNTING BRACKET FOR THE SEAT WAS BROKEN. THE DEALER STATED THIS HAD BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE PAST. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 182000.
THE SEAT FRAME ON MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BROKEN FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE SEAT FRAME IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR A NORMAL WEIGHT ADULT MALE. *TR
THE HVAC SYSTEM OF THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (DUAL CLIMATE ZONE) FAILS AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME PROMPTING EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THE HVAC SYSTEM WILL BLOW AMBIENT OUTSIDE AIR ON ONE HALF OF THE CAR. IF IT'S HOT OUTSIDE, HOT AIR, NOT AC, WILL BLOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. COLD AIR IN THE WINTER. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATOR KEEPS FAILING IN THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. IT CAN BE ROLLED DOWN BUT WON'T GO BACK UP. THE MOST RECENT TIME, A 6 YEAR OLD WAS IN THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT AND PUSHED THE WINDOW BUTTON WE HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE WINDOW DROPPED IN THE DOOR. IT WILL NOT COME BACK UP. TO REPLACE THIS PART IS $400+ AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM ALL THE TIME IN '00-'05 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT ACCELERATED FROM A COMPLETE STOP DRIVING 2 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,300. 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE, TWICE NOW THE FUSE TO THE FUEL INJECTOR HAS BLOWN WITHIN A MONTH RENDERING THE CAR UNDRIVABLE. GOING DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR CUTS OFF, YOU CANNOT STEER IT, AND THE BRAKES SEEM NOT TO WORK WELL AT ALL, YOU PRACTICALLY HAVE TO STAND ON THEM. THIS NEARLY GOT ME HIT TODAY GOING THROUGH A RED LIGHT. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS GOING DOWN A HILL AND BARELY GOT THE CAR STOPPED BEFORE HITTING A TREE. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC, HE CHANGED THE FUSE AND THOUGHT THAT IT WAS OK, UNTIL TODAY. TWO YEARS AGO, THE WIRING TO THE WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS QUIT WORKING AND HAD TO PAY TO HAVE THAT REPLACED, THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING NOT RIGHT WITH THESE VEHICLES. YEARS AGO, I HAD AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM, GOT STUCK, FINALLY GOT CONTROL OF IT, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON, TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, NEVER COULD TELL ME WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON AFTER THIS OCCURRING. *TR
ON MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO THE RIGHT FRONT BRACKET ON THE DRIVER SEAT THAT HOLDS THE SEAT TO THE FLOOR BROKE CAUSING THE SEAT TO BECOME UNSTABLE. I HAVEN'T TAKEN THE JEEP TO A DEALER AT THIS TIME. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE WAS 77,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88000.

2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED - PASSENGER SIDE FRONT POWER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. ALSO BLOWER ON HEATING/AC UNIT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
1. THERE WAS A CREAKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE DASHBOARD FROM THE AC OF MY 04 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF. 2. IT STARTED OCCURRING RIGHT AROUND THE 50K MILES. 3. I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE, THE MOST EXPENSIVE BEING $1500 TO REPLACE THE BLEND DOORS WHICH INCLUDED REMOVING THE DASHBOARD TO REPAIR THEM. *TR
MY JEEP WAS PARKED FACING DOWN A HILL IN A PARKING LOT. I WENT TO GET INTO IT, STARTED IT AND THEN EXITED THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS HOT AND I WAS LETTING THE AC GET GOING. AS I EXITED THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO ROLL DOWN THE HILL AND PROCEEDED TO HIT 2 PARKED CARS , JUMP A CURB THROWING MY SISTER IN LAW OUT AS SHE WAS NOT ALL THE WAY IN THEN CONTINUED DOWN THE HILL UNTIL IT HIT A TREE AND STOPPED. I NEVER TOOK IT OUT OF PARK AND WHEN WE GOT TO IT THE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN NEUTRAL. MY SISTER SUFFERED A BROKEN CLAVICLE, TORN LIGAMENTS IN HER KNEE, SEVERELY BRUISED RIBS AND PELVIS AND MY JEEP IS TOTALED. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM AS I HAVE BEEN DOING MY RESEARCH. WHEN WILL THIS BE STOPPED AND HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED? *TR
WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, WITH MY RIGHT FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, I SHIFTED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OUT OF REVERSE. IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE RAPIDLY REVVED UP AND LURCHED FORWARD. I PRESSED MORE FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, CAUSING THE CAR (A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE) AND MOTOR TO PAUSE, THEN THE MOTOR RAPIDLY REVVED UP AGAIN, OVERCOMING BRAKING. HORRIFIED, AND UNABLE TO STOP THE CAR, I WATCHED AS THE CAR RACED INTO THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE IMPACT, THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL IDLE. I THEN CHECKED THE CAR: CRUISE CONTROL WAS OFF, MY HANDS WERE STILL GRIPPING THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL LEVERAGE FOR MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, MY RIGHT FOOT WAS STILL FIRMLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOT NEAR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE AHEAD OF ME SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO ITS BUMPER AND TAILGATE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE, THE FIRST TWO OF WHICH WERE REPORTED TO YOU EARLIER. IN ALL THREE EARLIER CASES, I WAS ABLE TO BARELY AVOID AN ACCIDENT, BUT NOT THIS TIME. AS NOTED EARLIER, THE JEEP MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY CAUSATIVE PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT IN POSSESSION OF THE DEALER WHO WAS REPLACING THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 123,000.
