ELECTRICAL DASH PANEL GOES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING, AND WHEN IT IS OFF WE LOOSE BRAKE LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS, TAIL LIGHTS, ETC. CHRYSLER DEALERS SAY THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT'S GOING BAD AND THEY CANNOT REPAIR THESE JEEPS. IT,S UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S. WE CAN HIT THE DASH AT OUR LEFT KNEE AND THE LIGHTS AND GAUGES WILL COME BACK ON FOR AWHILE, THEN GO OFF AGAIN. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE CONTACT HEARD VARIOUS CHIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT RECOMMENDED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, FOUR MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN OFF. THE OTHER 3 DOOR HANDLES HAVE ALSO STARTED TO CRACK AND BECOME LOOSE. IT STARTS WITH A CRACK IN THE PLASTIC, THE CRACK THEN TURNS INTO A HOLE ABOVE THE METAL HANDLE. THE ACTUAL METAL HANDLE ITSELF THEN LOOSENS UP AND COMPLETELY COMES OFF. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT MANY OTHER 2005 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS HAVE HAD. IT'S NOT FROM EXCESSIVE USE, IT'S A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I CANNOT GET OUT OF MY CAR UNLESS SOMEONE OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. I WOULD ASSUME THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD CONSIDERING IT TRAPS THE OPERATOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. *TR

I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO THE ROAD. I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THEN WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE DIED. I WAS IN DRIVE AND EVERYTHING JUST SHUT DOWN. I THEN HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK AND TURN IT ON AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS DIED WHEN I HAVE BEEN PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY FROM A STOP. *TR
THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES IN THE FRONT SEAT, BOTH HAVE BECOME HARD AND BRITTLE AND HAVE CRUMBLED. IF THE DRIVER'S HANDLE DETERIORATES ANY MORE THE DOOR HANDLE WILL NO LONGER WORK AND YOU COULD BE TRAPPED IN THE CAR IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS A HUGE CHUNK OF PLASTIC THAT HAS BROKEN OFF AND THIS INSIDE DOOR HANDLE IS RARELY USED. *TR
