TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE COMPUTER BOARD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 GRAND CHEROKEE THE VEHICLE WILL SWITCH INTO NEUTRAL ON IT'S OWN. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE STOPPED AT LIGHTS, WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, SO ON AND SO FORTH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT READS "SHIFT CONTROL MODULE" AND THIS HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND HAS NOT BEEN CHEAP. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS LIGHT UP AROUND ALL GEARS (PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, AND DRIVE.) I HAVE HAD TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF MY VEHICLE AND RESTART IT BEFORE IT WOULD SWITCH BACK INTO THE CORRECT GEAR. I AM WONDERING IF THE NEW SAFETY RECALL 13V175000 IS COVERING THIS ISSUE. AS I READ, IT SEEMS MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. MY NEXT STEP WAS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AS THE PERSON WORKING ON THE VEHICLE DID NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SUGGEST. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WITH HAVING TO SHARE THIS VEHICLE WITH A TEENAGE SON.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM/BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO RESET THE BRAKE PRESSURE SENSOR BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RETRIEVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, IT BEGAN JERKING AND SKIDDING WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT TO PARK AND THEN DRIVE IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE FAILURE MOMENTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL, POWER TRAIN), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
THE GRAND CHEROKEE STALLED AT A LIGHT ON A HILL. RESTARTED IT AND BUT IT BACK IN DRIVE BUT VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACK ALMOST ROLLING INTO CAR BEHIND. STALLED 4 MORE TIMES BUT IN PARKING LOTS AND NON BUSY ROADS. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER WHERE THEY UPDATED SOFTWARE ON COMPUTER AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. THEN STALLED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BECAUSE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR. THEN PARKED IT IN PARKING LOT AND IT STALLED IN PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE ASSEMBLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE ANY FARTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ROCKER ARM, BALL JOINTS, TIRES, AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,000. RETURNED BY USPS. 2ND ATTEMPT ON 1/4/2013 FAILED. *KB
I PURCHASED VEHICLE 2 WEEKS AGO, NOVEMBER 115, 2012. OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL DAYS, ALL LIGHTS ON . INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHT-UP, GAUGES GO CRAZY, LOOSE POWER AND ABILITY TO OPERATE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE I WAS ON HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALSO, HEADLIGHTS BEGIN TO FLICKER OFF-ON AT A HIGH RATE CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FOR JEEP. I WENT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER TODAY...NO HELP. CALLED JEEP HOTLINE, 800-992-1997, NO HELP, CLAIM THEY HAVENT HAD A PROBLEM. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ..P41/NHTSA 14V-438.......ON THESE CARS....WHEN I CALLED FOR FIX, I WAS TOLD THERE ISN'T ONE YET....MEANWHILE MY CAR REFUSES TO START RANDOMLY....THIS RECALL WAS 6 MOS AGO....THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE SAFETY IGNITION SWITCH HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR YEARS.....WHO HOLDS THESE CO. FEET TO THE FIRE? *TR
THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM A PREVIOUS PRIVATE OWNER ON OR ABOUT 19 NOVEMBER 2012. THE TWO FORWARD SEAT BELT BUCKLES, AT TIME THE OF PURCHASE WERE ALREADY EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. NEITHER ONE OF THE BUCKLES WOULD ALLOW YOU TO FREELY SNAP IN OR LATCH THE OTHER END OF THE BELT. THE ONLY WAY ONE COULD GET THE BELTS LATCHED WAS TO PRESS IN THE "RED RELEASE BUTTON" ON THE BUCKLE - IT WOULD THEN LOCK IN PLACE AS NORMAL. TO UNLATCH THE BELT, ONE WOULD PRESS THE "RED RELEASE BUTTON AS NORMAL AND THEY WOULD RELEASE. HOWEVER, ONCE IT WAS LOCKED INTO PLACE, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT ON THE DASH PANEL WOULD NOT GO OUT. IT REMAINED ON AND THE CHIMES WOULD CONTINUE TO SOUND AS IF THE BELTS HAD NOT BEEN MATED. EVENTUALLY, THE CHIMES WOULD SHUTDOWN, BUT THE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ON. THE OTHER STRANGE THING IS THAT THE CHIMES WOULD RETURN WHEN ONE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE CHIMES WOULD REMAIN ON FOR AN EXTENDED LENGTH OF TIME BEFORE THEY SHUTOFF. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE LOCKING BUCKLE ASSEMBLY ON BOTH THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I DID ORDER THE PARTS FROM THE DEALER AND HAD A MECHANIC REPLACE THE ASSEMBLIES. THERE HAS BEEN NO ISSUE WITH THE BELTS SINCE THE REPLACEMENT. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER AND THE INFORMATION I HAVE ACCESSED ON THE INTERNET, THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. THE CHRYSLER MOPAR PART NUMBER FOR THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS 1CB121D5AB AND IS CALLED, "ASSEMBLY, PRETENSIONER WITH MICROSWITCH". *TR
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL CRACKED WHERE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE DOOR AND THE HANDLE FALLS OFF, LEAVING THE REAR PASSENGER UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THIS OCCURS WITH NORMAL USE, NO ABNORMAL USE OR ABUSE. *TR

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE NOTIFICATION OF THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FOR OVER $14,000. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH BEFORE I HAVE EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT 3 OF THE 4 INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS TO BE TAKEN UP WITH THE MANUFACTURER. AFTER COMING HOME AND DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE SEEN ENDLESS COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING, BUT YET NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY HAZARD BY CHRYSLER. IMAGINE FOR A MOMENT YOUR IN AN ACCIDENT AND ARE UNABLE TO OPEN YOUR CAR DOOR TO FREE YOURSELF, OR EVEN WORSE YOUR CHILD. I CANNOT IMAGINE THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF. FOR ALL THREE HANDLES TO BREAK AT ONCE IS UNBEIVABLE AND FOR CHRYSLER TO FEEL THEY DO NOT OWE THE CONSUMER A RECALL TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION IS MIND BOGGLING. I PERSONALLY HAVE CALLED AND VOICED MY OPINION AND WAS TOLD TO FIX IT MYSELF. BELIEVE ME I WILL BE GOING TO MY LAWYER IN THE MORNING TO SEE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FILE A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER AND TO ALSO HAVE DOCUMENTATION THAT I HAVE VOICED MY CONCERN ABOUT THIS SAFETY HAZARD TO NO AVAIL. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO REFUSED TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,179.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
INTERIOR DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE BEEN FLASHING OFF AND ON AT LEAST SINCE 10/2012. ON A DAILY BASIS THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE CONTINUED TO FLASH ON AND OFF AGAIN CONSTANTLY. AS OF YESTERDAY (10/28/2014) BOTH THE EXTERIOR HEADLAMPS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHED OFF AND ON AGAIN IN THE LATE EVENING LEAVING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE COMPLETELY DARK AS I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. *TR
BOTH REAR (LEFT AND RIGHT) DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN CLEAN OFF. THE FRONT TWO DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN AND CHIPPED, BUT ARE STILL INTACT. NO ONE IN MY BACK SEAT CAN GET OUT WITHOUT SOMEONE HAVING TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND LET THEM OUT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THESE HAVE NOT HAD EXCESSIVE PRESSURE OR PULLING ON THEM, THEY HAVE JUST RESULTED IN 3 OUT OF 4 DOOR HANDLES BEING BROKEN DUE TO NORMAL USE AND FORCE FOR EXITING THE VEHICLE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PART AS I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHERS JEEP CHEROKEES. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, I NOTICED MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND EVEN AFTER APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL, IT DIDN'T HELP. AFTER PRESSING THE BRAKES AND PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN, THEN IT STARTED ACCELERATING. THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD BLINK AND LATELY IT STAYS ON. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND OFF BUT ONCE I NOTICED THAT WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF BUT I LOST ONE FRONT HEADLIGHT. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE A SPARK PLUG WHICH COST ME ALMOST 300.00. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AGAIN AND I SUSPECT AS OTHER OWNERS HAVE SHARED IT IN THE FORUM THAT IT'S THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT'S FAULTY. I JUST WISH NHTSA WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ASAP. THE LETTER CAME THE MAIL STATING THERE IS A RECALL ON MY CAR BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WITH THE 4.7 V-8, EVERY LIGHT ON THE DASH LIGHTS UP, FLASHES/ FLUTTER/ FLICKERS, HEAD LIGHT SHUT OFF, RADIO SHUTS OFF, HVAC SYSTEM SHUTS OFF, BUT ENGINE STILL RUNS. STARTING OCTOBER 2ND, 2012, MY 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS NOT BEEN SHIFTING GEARS CORRECTLY AND ALL OPTIONS ON THE DASHBOARD (PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE) WILL LIGHT UP. THE CAR SLOWS AT THIS POINT AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER, PUT IT IN PARK, AND THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE AGAIN; DOING THAT SEEMS TO RESET IT. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 4 TIMES SINCE AND IT'S ONLY OCTOBER 6TH, 2012 NOW. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A HUGE PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND A VERY SCARY ONE AT THAT. GODFORBID THIS HAPPENED TO ME ON THE HIGHWAY AND WASN'T ABLE TO PULL OVER; ITS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED GEARS AND COASTED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL WHILE RPMS SHOT UP TO 3,000. IT THEN SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD AND PICKED UP SPEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER A DAY OR SO, THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF. WITHIN THE TIME FRAME OF APPROX 3 WEEKS, THIS HAD OCCURRED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. IT WAS VERY SCARY TO HAVE IT CHANGE GEARS AND NOT BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED AND SUDDENLY SPEED UP AGAIN WHILE TRAVELING WITH VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME AND BEHIND ME. YOU ESSENTIALLY HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IN THAT MOMENT, NOR DO YOU HAVE ANY WARNING THAT IT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. DRIVERS AROUND YOU ALSO HAVE NO WARNING THAT YOUR CAR WILL SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN OR LUNGE FORWARD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS MY ELECTRONIC SHIFTER MODULE AND HAD IT REPLACED. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, IT WAS NOT COVERED AND HAD TO PAY OVER $900. DID RESEARCH ONLINE AND CAME ACROSS NUMEROUS OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THAT IF THIS CRITICAL PART FAILS ON SO MANY VEHICLES IT SHOULD BE MADE A RECALL. WHEN THIS PART FAILS, IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE MANY ACCIDENTS. *TR
WHEN DRIVING MY TRANSMISSION WOULD BE STUCK IN A GEAR SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES IT WOULD SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHILE ON CITY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. THIS WOULD HAPPEN MOSTLY WHEN ACCELERATING WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAD TO SHIFT TO THE NEXT GEAR. IT WOULDN'T OR WOULD GO TO NEUTRAL SO I HAD TO SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION BACK AND FORTH FROM NEUTRAL TO DRIVE TO CATCH A GEAR. I READ ABOUT A RECALL BACK IN 2013 BUT CHRYSLER SAID IT DID NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE SO I PAID TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. SINCE CHRYSLER IS CURRENTLY HAVING RECALL PROBLEMS I'M CURIOUS TO FIND OUT IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WASN'T REPORTED.
WHEN I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER THIS MORNING, NOV 19, 2014 (MY CAR FAILED TO START) REGARDING A RECALL NOTICE, I WAS ADVISED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A "TEMPORARY FIX" OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THE RECALLED PART WAS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. NO FURTHER RECOURSE WAS ADDRESSED AND SINCE MY CAR IS INTERMITTENTLY STARTING AND HAS OCCASIONALLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING, I AM STUCK DRIVING A POTENTIAL HAZARD, OR BEING STRANDED WITHOUT A VEHICLE AT ALL, UNTIL REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE MADE AVAILABLE TO ME. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE FAULTY IGNITION PART, AT MY OWN EXPENSE (MORE THAN $700) , IN 2012 PRIOR TO THE RECALL. CLEARLY EVEN THAT PART WAS A "TEMPORARY FIX," THOUGH THAT WAS NEVER COMMUNICATED TO ME. *TR
LIKE OTHERS VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE AT LOW SPEEDS. AT RANDOM TIMES, TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE NEVER COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. UNTIL, I TOOK IT THERE FOR AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND TO CHECK OUT THE STEERING. WHILE HE WAS TEST DRIVING THE CAR, IT STALLED ON HIM AND STILL COULD NEVER FIND THE PROBLEM, MY LIGHTS FLICKER ON THE INSIDE, DASH OVER HEAD LIGHT ALL INSIDE LIGHTS, AT NIGHT WHEN I HAVE MY LIGHTS ON, TILL I TURN THEM VERY LOW AND STILL FLICKERS BUT CAN'T NOTICE IT AS MUCH, INSIDE LIGHTS DON'T TURN ON AT ALL WHEN I TRY TO SWITCH THEM ON AS WELL. THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS STAYED AND BEEN ON FOR A WHILE, MY MECHANIC RAN A TEST ON THAT AS AIR BAG IS FINE BUT LIGHT STAYS ON. I KNOW THERE WHERE RECALLS SO I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY UNDER ANY OF THE RECALLS. NOW MY ABS AND ESP/BAS, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ARE ON. AT FIRST THEY CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHEN WENT TO SLOW DOWN MY BREAKS RATTLED, THE LIGHTS CAME ON THEN WENT OFF. NOW THEY HAVE BEEN ON AND WON'T TURN OFF. AND MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AS WELL SAME TIME. THERE SEEMS TO BE NOTHING THAT COMES UP WHILE RUNNING TEST AND STUFF. MY CAR HAS 115756 MILES ON IT AND THESE PROBLEMS KEEP HAPPENING. ALSO WHEN I START IT THE CAR IDEALS ROUGH AND WHEN I'M STOPPED AT A LIGHT TRIED AND REPLACED PARTS AND STILL DOES IT. I LOVE MY JEEP AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS FOUND OUT AND FIX I'M ALMOST DONE PAYING IT OFF AND WANT TO KEEP IT BUT IT SCARES ME THAT IT'S COULD STALL ANY MOMENT RANDOMLY. *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND DECIDED TO TURN ON THE CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN I DID THE JEEP ACCELERATED OUT OF CONTROL AND I WAS GOING 75. THE GAS PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF USING THE OFF BUTTON ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND THE CRUISE CONTROL TURNED OFF. AT THAT TIME THE GAS PEDAL POPPED BACK UP. OVER THE NEXT WEEK, I ATTEMPTED TO USE MY CRUISE CONTROL SEVERAL TIMES, AND EACH TIME THE VEHICLE SPEED EXCELLED ON ITS OWN TO DANGEROUS SPEEDS, AND THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I HAVE ASKED A COUPLE OF MECHANICS TO LOOK AT IT AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM. THEY SAID THAT THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND I HAD THEM DISCONNECT THE CRUISE CONTROL. I WOULD LIKE IT FIXED, BUT NO SEEMS TO KNOW THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE ELECTRIC SUNROOF DEVELOPED A SMALL LEAK WHEN IT RAINED. ONE DAY MY WIFE TOOK THE JEEP TO THE CAR WASH AND THE INSIDE WAS SOAKED. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE DOORS WAS WET AND ALSO IN THE ROOF. THE SUNROOF WAS DEFECTIVE IN SOME WAY CAUSING THE LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *TR

I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN 8/2012 FOR MY DAUGHTER TO GET TO COLLEGE. IT IS A 900 MILE TRIP AND WOULD BE USED FOR LOCAL CAMPUS DRIVING UNTIL HER RETURN IN 4/2013. WE BOUGHT THE CAR WITH THE HOPE OF GETTING 3 YEARS USE OUT OF IT. ON HER INITIAL TRIP DOWN ROUTE 95 SO. I RECEIVED A CALL AT 1 AM FROM HER IN SC TELLING ME THE CAR SHUT DOWN AT 70 MPH. THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AND SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND FORTUNATELY WITH THE HELP OF HER PASSENGER FORCED THE WHEEL TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER. THANK GOD A TRACTOR TRAILED WAS NOT BEHIND HER! I TOLD HER TO WAIT AND TRY TO START THE CAR. IT STARTED A HALF HOUR LATER. THIS EPISODE CONTINUED UNTIL SHE ARRIVED AT SCHOOL THE NEXT DAY. A 15 HOUR TRIP TOOK 21 HOURS. SHE WAS FRIGHTENED TO DEATH. WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY TOLD US IT WAS THE VALVE BODY OF THE TRANSMISSION WHICH WE REPLACED ($2100). AS IT TURNS OUT ON THE RETURN TRIP THE CAR TRANSMISSION WAS OVER HEATING AND THE SHUTTING DOWN SCENARIO CONTINUED. WE BROUGHT IT TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER HERE IN NJ AND THEY TOLD US THERE WAS PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT APART IN ORDER TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I STOPPED RIGHT THERE. I FOUND OUT THROUGH MY LOCAL MECHANIC OF 20 YEARS THAT HE READ THE BULLETIN ON THE ENGINE PROBLEMS FROM CHRYSLER. IT SAID THE VALVES WERE NOT SHUTTING DOWN ALL THE WAY THUS CREATING CARBON IN THE HEADS AND STALLING THE ENGINES. I NEED ACTION FROM CHRYSLER AND IT SEEMS THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T CARE ABOUT SAFETY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. WE CAN'T USE THE CAR THAT WE PAID $10,000 (PLUS $2100) FOR AND NOW I HAVE TO GET MY DAUGHTER BACK TO COLLEGE AND DON'T HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED BY THOUSANDS OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO GET PEOPLE KILLED. *TR

THERE WERE ALSO CRACKS VISIBLE ON THE REMAINING THREE DOOR PANELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DOOR PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARD THE REPAIR EXPENSE IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FOUR DOOR PANELS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. KMJ

I BOUGHT THIS JEEP IN MARCH ON 2012 , THEN FEW MONTHS AFTER BUYING IT THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT STOPPED LATCHING UNLESS I DEPRESSED IT TO MAKE IT LATCH THEN A MONTH OR SO LATER THE PASSENGERS SEAT BELT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING. BUT SINCE THEN THE SEAT BELT CHIME STARTED GOING OFF AND THE SEAT BELT LIGHT ON THE DASH STARTED STAYING ON TOO. AT FIRST YOU COULD UNBUCKLE THE PASSENGERS SEAT BELT AND REBUCKLE AND IT WOULD STOP BUT NOW IF SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT IT DOESN'T STOP. NOW IT DOESN'T MATTER WHETHER SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGERS SEAT OR NOT, IT WILL COME ON WITH JUST THE DRIVER IN THE SEAT AND I ALWAYS BUCKLE UP. THE CHIME WILL KEEP GOING OFF FOR A LONG TIME BUT IT WILL EVENTUALLY STOP FOR AWHILE BUT THE SEAT BELT LIGHT WILL STAY ON BUT IF I STOP AT A LIGHT AND START GOING AGAIN IT WILL START CHIMING AGAIN. IT IS VERY ANNOYING AND THE LATCHES IS AGGRAVATING TO HAVE TO DEPRESS THEM TO LATCH THEM. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES ,. I'VE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ONE UNTIL NOW AND IT DOESN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM TILL YOUR OUT OF WARRANTY, THEN IT HAS TO COME OUT OF OUR POCKET. MINE IS STILL NOT FIXED... NOT HAPPY THIS IS MY 3RD JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TO OWN HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GET A 4TH ONE BUT IT MAY DEPEND ON HOW THIS IS HANDLED. ALL DOOR HANDLES INSIDE VEHICLE ARE BROKE. YOU CANNOT OPEN THE VEHICLE UNLESS YOU ROLL WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THERE IS NO POWER TO VEHICLE TO ROLL WINDOW DOWN, YOU WILL BE STUCK IN THE VEHICLE. IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT VEHICLE.
