THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND STAYS IN FOURTH GEAR. IF I RESTART THE CAR IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL BUT EVENTUALLY GOES BACK INTO FOURTH GEAR AND STAYS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I LIVE IN MICHIGAN, WE HAD SNOW AND VERY COLD CONDITIONS LAST WEEK (JANUARY 31 2019), I WAS LOADING GROCERIES INTO THE BACK OF MY JEEP AT MY GROCERY STORE AND THE HATCH FAILED TO STAY OPEN. THE CORNER OF THE HATCH HIT ME IN THE HEAD WHEN IT CAME DOWN. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT AT THE TIME, BUT I HAD CRACKED MY HEAD OPEN AND NEEDED TO GET STAPLES TO CLOSE THE WOUND. I WASN'T SURE IF THE STRUTS OF THE HATCH WERE BAD OR IF IT WAS WEATHER RELATED, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN EVEN WORSE HAD IT HIT ME IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD AND ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AT ONCE-ABS, CHECK ENGINE, BATTERY, ETC. ALL MY LIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER. MY HEAD LIGHTS BEGAN TO GET VERY DIMMED SO I TRIED SWITCHING MY FOG LIGHTS OR HIGH BEAMS ON BUT THAT ONLY MADE IT WORSE AND THE LIGHTS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGAN GOING VERY SLOW MAKING IT REALLY HARD TO SEE AS IT WAS RAINING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO A SIDE STREET. MY CAR FELT STRANGE WHILE DRIVING LIKE I WASNT ABLE TO ACCELERATE SO ONCE I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE SOMEWHERE AND GET MY CAR IN PARK, ALL MY LIGHTS FLICKERED HEAVILY AND SHUT OFF 1 BY 1 AND THEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER COMPLETELY. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED BACK HOME BC NOTHING WOULD START IT.
THE SUNROOF DRAIN DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY CAUSING WATER TO POUR OUT OF THE CENTER CEILING MAP LIGHTS,THE GARAGE DOOR CONTROL PANEL, THE DRIVER SIDE COLUMN, AND THE HANDLE TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE. THIS CAUSES A MAJOR DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING AND ALSO CAN CAUSE SEVERE ELECTRICAL DAMAGE, WATER DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR AND MOLD/MILDEW BUILD UP. .
JEEP WILL COMPLETELY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING AT RANDOM TIMES AND AT RANDOM SPEEDS. THIS INCLUDES HIGHWAY AND LOCAL ROADS. MORE THAN ONCE, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR TURNED OFF AND I HAD TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER, TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH TO OFF AND RESTART THE CAR. CAR WILL ALSO INTERMITTENTLY NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 40 MPH. THE CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MORE THAN ONE REPAIR SHOP AND NO ONE CAN FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION.
The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in an unknown recall and the ignition switch was replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. The failure recurred several times and the contact needed to have the vehicle jumpstarted. The dealer was informed of the failure but was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
MY 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO WILL NOT START. THE BATTERY IS NEW. LIGHTS COME ON, RADIO COMES ON, LIGHTS DO NOT DIM, BUT JEEP WILL NOT START. (NOT EVEN CLICK TO INDICATE STARTER)
VEHICLE WILL START WITH NO PROBLEM, WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THEN TURNING THE KEY TO THE LEFT TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, THE KEY WILL ONLY TURN TO THE LEFT TO CUT OFF ENGINE AND STOP, CANNOT CONTINUE TO TURN KEY ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT TO FINISH LETTING ENGINE RECOGNIZE THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PARK POSITION, CANNOT LEAVE KEY IN VEHICLE DO THE BATTERY WILL BECOME DEAD. HAVE TO KEEP CRANKING UP VEHICLE UNTIL THE KEY CONTINUES WILL TURN ALL THE WAY TO LEFT TO BE REMOVED....
VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. LOSS OF POWER, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. VERY DANGEROUS. TOOK TO DEALER AND LEFT FOR A WEEK FOR THEM TO TEST AND REPLICATE AND REPAIR. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES. EACH TIME, SO FAR, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP OUT OF TRAFFIC, BUT I FEAR THAT IT MAY HAPPEN IN A LESS FORTUNATE SETTING. IT HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY, JUST DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD DOWN THE ROAD. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND A RED LIGHTING BOLT LIGHT ALSO COMES ON OVER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARKWAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 21560 HALL RD, CLINTON TWP, MI 48038, (586) 465-7210) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE IN THE WIN MODULE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIN MODULE AND KEYS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
WHEN FILLING UP MY JEEP WITH GAS THE FILLER NECK OVER FLOWS EVERY SINGLE TIME AND I HEARD THE COUNTERPARTS ON THE DODGE DURANGO IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THEM FIXING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A HUGE ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD AND SINCE OTHER JEEP OWNERS I KNOW WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

BACKED UP IN STORE PARKING LOT, PUT IN DRIVE AND AIR BAG ON STEERING WHEEL EXPLODED. DID NOT HIT ANYTHING, NO OTHER VEHICLES NEAR, BAG JUST EXPLODED. CAUGHT ON STORE SECURITY TAPE, 2 EYE WITNESSES, POLICE REPORT FILED.
SOMETIMES WHEN THE AUTO ENGINE SHUT OFF FEATURE IS ENABLED. WHEN RELEASING THE BRAKE THE CAR FAILS TO RESTART. TO GET THE CAR RESTARTED THE VEHICLE MUST POWERED COMPLETELY OFF AND RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN ON TO BUSY STREETS WHERE IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.
KEY WILL NOT CLICK AND TURN OFF COMPLETELY AFTER SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF. WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE, IT DRIVES A LITTLE ROUGH AS FAR AS GOING OVER A ROUGH PATCH IN THE ROAD AND IT HITS REALLY HARD. AS IF THE SHOCKS AND OR STRUTS ARE GONE.
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION AFTER PARKING
AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS GOING OFF & ON, WHEN DRIVING, LOCAL COUNTY ROAD
WHEN I ATTEMPT TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, MY KEY GETS STUCK AND DOES NOT TURN ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT TO THE "OFF" POSITION. IT GETS STUCK MIDWAY, SO I HAVE TO TURN IT TO THE RIGHT TO RESTART THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THEN BACK TO THE LEFT. I HAVE TO DO THIS MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE KEY SLIDES ALL THE WAY LEFT INTO THE OFF POSITION.

THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. ALL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUDSON VALLEY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (200 AUTO PARK PL, NEWBURGH, NY 12550 (845) 562-4100) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BUT NO FAILURE WAS DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
EVERY ICON ON THE DASHBOARD GOES ON ALL AT ONCE WHILE DRIVING. EVEN AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF THE INSIDE DASHBOARD LIGHTS STAY ON FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. IE ICONS INCLUDE: ABS, CHECK ENGINE, AIRBAG, STABILITY CONTROL, BRAKE, AND A LIGHTENING BOLT NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS FOR.
THERE WAS A WIRE COMING OUR OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I CALLED NYLE MAXWELL JEEP TO ASK TO BRING IN MY CAR AND THEY COULD NOT SCHEDULE ME UNTIL 4 DAYS LATER. I ASKED IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE IT AND THEY SAID YES. THE FOLLOWING MORNING MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE AND THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON AS HE WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE. THIS HAPPENED ON APRIL 14TH. IT IS MAY 11TH AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE ANY ANSWERS FROM JEEP OTHER THAN IT WAS INSPECTED BY THEM. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED FURTHER AND HAVE CALLED EVERY OTHER DAY TO CHECK ON MY CASE NUMBER. THEY TELL ME THEY WILL PUT A MESSAGE IN THE NOTES AND SOMEONE WILL CONTACT ME ASAP AND I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED.
WHEN PUMPING FUEL AT A GAS STATION, THE FUEL SPILLS OVER IN LARGE AMOUNTS ONTO MY JEEP, FENDER AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE.
THE FOBIK WHEN INSERTED DOES NOT TURN VEHICLE ON (ACTS LIKE VEHICLE BATTERY IS DEAD) BUT WHEN KEY IS REMOVED AND REINSTALLED IT WILL THEN CRANK. THEN OTHER TIMES IT CRANKS BUT IS LIKE IT'S IN OFF POSITION (INSIDE LIGHTS NOR RADIO COMES ON) ALSO, AFTER ACTING UP THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WITHOUT FLASHING OR GOING OFF. WINDSHIELD WIPERS "MOTOR" DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY (WORKS BUT STOPS IN FROM OF DRIVERS WINDOW AREA) UNTIL IT'S PUT ON HIGH SPEED. THESE ISSUES OCCUR BEFORE AND AFTER VEHICLE IS STARTED. BOTH AREAS OF CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING ON NYS ROUTE 17 IN THE VICINITY OF LIBERTY WHEN MY LEFT FRONT AXLE BROKE, THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF, THE VEHICLE VEERED LEFT AND CRASHED INTO THE CENTER ISLAND GUARD RAIL.
TAKATA RECALL (POSSIBLY). THE JEEP WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. AN EMBER CAME OUT OF IT AND FELL ON THE CARPET IN THE BACK AND BURNED A HOLE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE METAL, NOW MY CLUSTER PANEL IS GOING NUTS AND ALL OF MY ELECTRICAL IS MALFUNCTIONING. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE OUTSIDE OF MY JEEP TO CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. *TT
BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER SHUTS OFF TO HEATED SEATS. ELECTRICAL FIRE SMELL COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. BATTERY WAS REPLACED LAST MONTH.
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES AN ISSUE IN ONE OF THE AREAS NOTED, USUALLY WHEN ACCELERATING THROUGH A GRADUAL TURN TO THE LEFT SUCH AS ON AN "ON" RAMP. THE DRIVE TRAIN HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY BOTH INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AS WELL AS JEEP'S AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER IN YONKER'S, NY WITH REPORTS OF NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE. THE JEEP SERVICE CENTER HAS STATED THAT WHILE THEY TOO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE MALFUNCTION, THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, SUGGESTING IT BE DRIVEN BY THE OWNER "UNTIL IT WORSENS".
STEERING COLUMN/AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING DEFECTIVE/ISSUE LIKE WITH THE JEEP WRANGLER RECALL. HAVING TO REPLACE AND THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL IN MY OPINION

THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND FAILED TO RESTART RIGHT AWAY; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE IT WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND RECURRED OVER FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO CRANK, BUT FAILED TO START MORE THAN ONCE. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED FIVE TSBS ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND THREE RECALLS ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE DEALER (ROUTE 18 CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 400 NJ-18, EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ 08816, (732) 387-2600) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE KEY FAILED TO RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE BATTERY WAS CHECKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (CAPITAL CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 200 WATERFIELD RIDGE PL, GARNER, NC 27529). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
WHILE DRIVING IF THE THROTTLE IS PRESSED IT OFTEN STICKS DOWN FOR A FEW SECONDS. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IT HAS STUCK FULLY OPEN. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANY MECHANICAL BINDING OR DIRT/DEBRIS CAUSING THE ISSUE.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LOSES ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING, THE CEL AND ETC LIGHTS GO ON LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. AFTER ENGINE IS SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED THE CEL AND ETC REMAIN ON BUT CAR HAS POWER TO DRIVE. OFTEN TIMES AFTER SITTING OFF FOR PERIOD OF TIME THE LIGHTS MAY BE OFF BUT CAR MAY SHUT DOWN AGAIN AFTER DRIVING A SHORT , SOMETIMES LONG, DISTANCE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE MERCEDES-BENZ 3.0 CRD ENGINE IN THIS MODEL JEEP. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM.

TWIN CITY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (650 SAGAMORE PARKWAY SOUTH, LAFAYETTE, INDIANA 47905, (765) 588-4077) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRE THAT CONNECTED THE STARTER TO THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STARTER WAS SHORT CIRCUITED DUE TO THE FAULTY WIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
AIR BAG LITE KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF,WHEN DRIVING.
DIESEL FUEL IS LEAKING FROM BOTTOM OF THE TANK. INSUFFICIENT SPACE BETWEEN FACTORY INTEGRATED SKID PLATE/ HANGAR TRAPS SALT AND GRIM/ DEBRIS . INSUFFICIENT DRAINAGE LEADS TO FUEL TANK ROTTING FROM EXTERIOR SIDE AND LEAK RAW DIESEL FUEL ONTO ROADWAYS AND PARKING SURFACES.
JEEP STALLS WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND WILL NOT RESTART UNLESS THE KEY IS REMOVED THEN PUT BACK IN AND TURNED ON. IT HAPPENS IN DRIVE ON ANY ROAD WAY. TURNING, IN PARK, AND IN REVERSE. HAS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 70 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES.
THE IGNITION SWITCH HAVE PROBLEM SOMETIME PUP OUT BY SELF. AND AIR BAG LIGHT IT'S ON AND BEEP TO MUCH.
CAR GETS STUCK IN GEAR, STALLS WHEN ACCELERATING, REVERSE GOES OUT UNTIL PERIODICALLY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, THE IGNITION FAILED TO RELEASE THE KEY. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT 30 SECONDS OR MORE FOR THE IGNITION TO RELEASE THE KEY. THE CONTACT HEARD A BUZZ NOISE BEFORE THE KEY WAS RELEASED FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE UNATTENDED FOR HOURS DUE TO THE KEY NOT BEING RELEASED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE STARTER MADE AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND WHILE THE CONTACT ATTEMPED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MADE FOUR ATTEMPTS, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO GALEANA CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (14375 S TAMIAMI TRAIL, FORT MYERS, FL 33912, (239) 481-2600) WHERE THE STARTER WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. BOUGHT USED 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. IT STALLS FOR NO REASON. TWICE I THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE OF COLD WEATHER BUT 2 DAYS AGO IT STALLED ON A WARM DAY IN THICK TRAFFIC AND HAD A VERY HARD TIME GETTING TO A PARKING LOT, DUE TO NO STEERING, ETC. TALKED TO MECHANIC TWICE ABOUT PROBLEM AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE IT OUT. CHATTED WITH JEEP CORPORATION ON THEIR CHAT LINE. THEY ONLY SUGGESTED THAT I GO TO JEEP DEALER (REALLY EXPENSIVE) AND IF THERE ARE ANY REPAIRS, KEEP A RECEIPT IN CASE THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM - A PROBLEM WHICH HAS OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL OF THEIR OTHER CAR MODELS.
AFTER 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT (E-BRAKE WAS NOT ON), THE ABS MODULE LIGHT, AND THE ESP BAS LIGHT CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I TRIED TO RESET THE COMPUTER MANUALLY MULTIPLE TIMES TO SEE IF THE LIGHTS WOULD EVENTUALLY TURN OFF BUT EVERY TIME THEY CAME ON. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A REPAIR SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN JEEP REPAIR AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND TOLD ME THAT I REQUIRED A NEW ABS MODULE ASSEMBLY, PASSENGER SEAT BELT LATCH AND A CLOCK-SPRING ASSEMBLY FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE AND R/F BRAKE CALIPER THAT HAD BROKEN OFF FOR NO REASON. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I WERE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT NOT ONLY WOULD MY BRAKES NOT LOCK PREVENTING FURTHER DAMAGE BUT MY DRIVER AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY AS WELL CAUSING INEVITABLE INJURY. THIS HAD COST ME ALMOST $1400 NOT TO MENTION I WAS WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
WHILE DRIVING, GAUGE LIGHTS TURN ON. SOMETIMES DISPLAYING ZERO. WHEN VEHICLE IS TESTED, ERRORS COME UP, WE FIX IT ONLY TO TRY 10 MILES AND LIGHTS COME BACK ON. SOMETIMES, INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN ON WHEN DOOR IS OPENED. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. *TR
THE VEHICLE FAILS TO START UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONDITION APPEARS TO BE INTERMITTANT OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING, AND CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES FOR THE MOTORIST, SHOULD THE INABILITY TO RE-START THE VEHICLE OCCUR WHEN LOCATED IN A REMOTE AREA WHERE HELP IS NOT AVAILABLE. THERE HAVE BEEN AND CONTINUE TO BE COMPLAINTS BY OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE AND SIMILAR YEAR JEEPS POSTED THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET ON RELATED VARIOUS FORUMS. THE GENERAL IMPLICATION IS THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT FOR SOME REASON IS NOT ABLE TO OFFER A SOLUTION. THIS HAS CAUSED UNDUE BURDEN ON THE CONSUMER, IN ADDITION TO COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH INEFFECTIVE REPAIRS WHETHER PERFORMED BY CERTIFIED CHRYSLER DEALER REPAIR STATIONS OR INDEPENDENT REPAIR ENTITIES. STORIES OF MOTORISTS BEING STRANDED AND SUBJECTED TO INSECURE SITUATIONS OR FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR VEHICLES AND FINDING ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF GETTING HOME OR TO A SAFE PLACE ARE NOT UNCOMMON. I URGE THE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE HOW EXTENSIVE THIS ISSUE OF FAILING JEEP IGNITION SYSTEMS IS, AND TO FORCE CHRYSLER/FIAT CORPORATION TO INITIATE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL.
