TAKATA RECALL PLUS ELECTRICAL AIR BAG CODE, KEY FOB REPLACEMENT AND CONNECTION, TROTTLE AND HOSE.BROKEN BACK WIPER ARM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INADVERTENTLY MOVED THROUGH THE RUN POSITION TO THE ACCESSORY OR OFF IGNITION POSITION, AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY FOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
NHTSA CAMP.14V567000- CAME OUT AFTER WORK AND CAR WOULD NOT START.NO DASH LIGHTS NO START. TOWED TO HOME. FULL BATTERY, NO FUSE ISSUES. ISOLATED TO WIN UNIT. HAVE CONTACTED DEALER, HE WILL ORDER PART FOR $350.00. 2 DAY WAIT. WILL UPDATE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WHEN USING THE LANE CHANGE FEATURE OF THE TURN SIGNALS (I.E. DEPRESSING THE TURN SIGNAL LEVER UNTIL YOU HIT THE FIRST DETENT, WHICH THEN ACTIVATES THREE TURN SIGNAL FLASHES AND THEN AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF)IT OCCASIONALLY FLASHES THE WRONG DIRECTION. YOU WANT TO INDICATE RIGHT BUT IT MAY FLASH LEFT, IT MAY FLASH ALL LEFT SIGNALS OR SOME LEFT AND SOME RIGHT DURING THE SAME SEQUENCE. IT HAPPENS IN BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT DIRECTIONS. IT HAPPENS DURING ABOUT 5% OF THE TIME WHEN USING THE LANE CHANGE, TURN SIGNAL FEATURE. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP BUT RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. IN LESS THAN 1000 MILES WITHIN PURCHASE THE 4W DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS PARKED ON A CURB AT A RETIREMENT HOME AND A AMBULANCE WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. WHILE I WAS INSIDE PEOPLE RAN IN AND SAID MY JEEP WAS ROLLING AWAY AND IT HIT THE AMBULANCE IN FRONT OF ME. THE JEEP WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF WHEN IT ROLLED AWAY. WITNESSES AND THE POLICE REPORT CONFIRM THIS. AFTER GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR 6 MONTHS I TOOK IT SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET IT LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THE TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
TURN SIGNAL FOR LANE CHANGE (FLASH SIGNAL) REBOUNDS BY ITSELF TO SIGNAL THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I WAS HITTING THE TURN INDICATOR AFTER THE "FLASH" IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION, BUT IT IS A FAULTY DEVICE. DRIVERS SEE YOU SIGNAL A LANE CHANGE, AS YOUR MAKING THE CHANGE AS INDICATED, THE TURN SIGNAL (BY ITS SELF) WILL SIGNAL THE OTHER WAY (IT REBOUNDS FROM THE FLASHED DIRECTION TO THE OTHER DIRECTION). OTHER DRIVERS DON'T KNOW YOUR INTENTIONS, THEY THINK YOU ARE COMING BACK INTO THE LANE YOU JUST CHANGED FROM. ITS IS DANGEROUS AND FRUSTRATING. MY OPINION IS A FORCED RECALL TO REPLACE THE TURN INDICATION SHOULD OCCUR, IT IS NOT SAFE. IT MAY HAVE OCCURRED A FEW TIMES FROM A REGULAR TURN INDICATOR, WHERE THE TURN SIGNAL HANDLE IS FULLY ENGAGED, BUT ALMOST ALWAYS IT WILL OCCUR FOR THE LANE CHANGE "FLASH" SIGNAL. IT IS NOT ME HITTING INDICATOR.

AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,000.

VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. LOST POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND CAME TO REST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE INDICATED PROBLEM WAS FAILED ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL. PROBLEM REOCCURRED 8 TIMES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. VEHICLE WOULD START AND GO AND WOULD THEN SHUT OFF RANDOMLY. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.

VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION ON POSITION WOULD RANDOMLY, WHILE DRIVING KICK TO THE OFF POSITION. IT WOULD REQUIRE PLACING THE CAR IN PARK AND RE-START THE VEHICLE. THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) MODULE AND A KEY FOB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,800. TAKATA RECALL... MY JEEP HAD ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN 5 TIMES NOW. TWO OF WHICH I WAS ON M24 WHICH IS A VERY BUSY ROAD. FIRST TIME I ALMOST HIT A MAN ON A MOTORCYCLE AS MY FOOT WAS CRAMMING ON MY BRAKE PEDDLE THE JEEP WAS STILL ACCELERATING, I THEN HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO GET IT TO STOP. PULLED OVER ITS STILL REVING ITSELF UP. I HAD TO TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON. TODAY THIS HAPPENED AND I ALMOST REAR ENDED A SEMI TRUCK.
WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (APPROXIMATELY 75MPH) THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLED SEVERAL TIMES AND TWICE IN 1-HR IT COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN. THE MOTOR LOST ALL POWER. IT REQUIRES A COMPLETE RESTART OF THE VEHICLE. THE KEY MUST BE TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND RESTARTED. IT HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE. IT SEAMS TO HAPPEN UNDER A LOAD OR WHILE ACCELERATING OR PULLING A HILL. IT HAS HAPPENED IN HIGH TRAFFIC CIRCUMSTANCES AND HAS AT TIMES BEEN DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I'VE TAKEN IT TO JEEP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THEY APPARENTLY HAVE A STAR CASE NUMBER S1218000003 IN WHICH THEY SAY TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO PUT CONSUMERS IN.
I HAD THE RECALLED IGNITION SWITCH PUT IN IN MAY AND IT WAS SHAKING WHEN I PICKED IT UP, THEN I WOULD LOSE ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE RADIO, NOW IT STALLED AND WILL NOT START, LOOKS LIKE THE BLOCK IS CRACKED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS FOR 3 YEARS AND PAID 16,000.00 FOR IT OBVIOUSLY IT WAS AN INTERNAL ISSUE.
THE DIESEL TANK HAS STARTED TO RUST AND LEAK DIESEL FUEL ON THE GROUND.
THE INNER TREAD IS SEPARATING FROM THE REST OF THE TIRE AND THE METAL IS BEING EXPOSED. THE ALIGNMENT IS GOOD AND ALL FRONT END PARTS ARE GOOD. I NOTICED THIS AS I WAS CLEANING AND DOING MAINTENANCE. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE TO WORK AND FEAR I WILL BE IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
THE CAR IGNITION WENT INTO ACCESSORY POSITION CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT ON THE ROAD. I DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF KEYS ON THE KEY. ALSO THE IGNITION SWITCH FEELS SOMEWHAT LOOSE WHEN I TURN THE KEY.

WAS TOLD THEY WOULD PUT ME ON A WAITING LIST FOR REPAIR AND THAT IT COULD BE A FEW WEEKS (SPOKE WITH JESS). CALLED BACK JUNE 1ST, BRIANA TOLD ME I WAS #38 ON THE WAITING LIST. CALLED JUNE 28TH CHRISSY TOLD ME I WAS #30 ON THE WAITING LIST. CALLED JULY 29TH DOREENA TOLD ME I WAS #27 ON THE WAITING LIST. AT THIS RATE I WILL NOT HAVE MY RECALL FIXED UNTIL SOMETIME IN 2017.
CHRYSLER WILL NOT REPAIR MY FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH DESPITE IT BEING RECALLED.

THE CONTACT OBSERVED SIGNS OF AN ELECTRICAL FIRE DUE TO THE COMPONENTS OF THE VISOR BEING MELTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,143. I WAS DRIVING 15 TO 20 MINUTES FROM HOME AND MY CHECK ENGINE CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL GAS STATION (25 YRS RELATIONSHIP) AND THE CAR STALLED WHILE CLOSE TO THE STATION LOSING ALL STEERING POWER. THE OWNER TOOK A LOOK AND SAID GIVE ME 24HRS TO DIAGNOSE. THE NEXT DAY HE SHOWED ME WHAT HAPPENED....THE WATER-PUMP INTERNAL BEARING HAS BROKEN CAUSING THE SHAFT TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH CAUSING THE INTERNAL WATER-PUMP FLYWHEEL TO BREAK APART. THIS CAUSED THE WATER PUMP TO DUMP ALL THE COOLANT ON THE GROUND WITHIN 15 TO 20 MINUTES. FINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS THE ENGINE SEIZED DUE TO LACK OF COOLANT PUMPING THRU THE ENGINE. A NEW ENGINE WAS THE ONLY SOLUTION. I CAN UNDERSTAND THE WATER-PUMP HAVING MINOR LEAKS WITH GRADUAL LEAKAGE ...THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT BY THE PUDDLES UNDER THE ENGINE BUT NOT THE RAPID DRAINAGE I EXPERIENCED. I REACH OUT TO JEEP HOTLINE.... TOLD THE STORY AND WAS WILLING TO PROVIDE PHOTOS AND PHYSICAL PARTS FOR THEIR QA AND RD DEPARTMENT TO EVALUATE FOR DESIGN FLAW. THEY WERE NOT INTERESTED AND TOLD ME SORRY OUT OF WARRANTY...AND GAVE ME NO SUPPORT OR DIRECTIONS TO SEND PHOTOS OR PHYSICAL PARTS. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT OTHER DRIVERS WHO MAY EXPERIENCE THIS SITUATION WHERE DEATH AND INJURY MAY OCCUR. I TRIED TO ATTACH 5 PHOTO BELOW...LET ME KNOW IF ALL 5 CAME THRU. THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT. OUR 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE STRUCK AN OLDER MODEL CAR IN THE SIDE AS THE OTHER VEHICLE ROLLED THROUGH A RED LIGHT. WE WERE TRAVELING BETWEEN 40-45 MPH. THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS ENOUGH TO SUFFER A TOTAL LOSS, BUT THE FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH VEHICLES WERE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET.

MY SUV WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I OPENED THE LIFTGATE AND SLIGHTLY LEANED IN TO LOOK FOR AN ITEM. THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT THEN FORCIBLY EXPELLED, WHAT APPEARED TO BE, A WHITEISH GAS/LIQUID MIXTURE. THE LIFTGATE IMMEDIATELY CAME RIGHT DOWN, HITTING ME IN THE TOP OF THE HEAD VERY HARD.

THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE OIL LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN EACH CASE, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER A WHILE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE SOLENOID AND THE HARNESS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,100.
BETWEEN FEBRUARY 2016 TO SEPTEMBER 2016 MY 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCE A FAIL TO START. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE HAD TO TOW THE CAR 4 TIMES AND IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE. FIRST WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS THE ISSUE, AND AFTER CHANGING THE BATTERY IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. NOW THEY SAY ITS THE STARTER. I HAVE A CASE NUMBER WITH FCA US (JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE) NOT ANY HELP! JEEP NEEDS TO FIGURE WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR AND STOP THROWING PARTS AT IT!!!

FUEL TANK HAS BEGUN LEAKING DIESEL WITH LESS THAN 120000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS IS CLEARLY THE RESULT OF A DESIGN FLAW ON THESE DIESEL JEEPS. THE FUEL TANK IS MADE OF FERROUS METAL (STEEL) AND IS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE WITH A STEEL SKID PLATE. THERE IS VERY LITTLE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE SKID PLATE AND THE FUEL TANK. THIS RESULTS IN THE TRAPPING OF DEBRIS AND MOISTURE AND RESULTING IN RUST DAMAGE TO THE FUEL TANK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED ON SEVERAL ONLINE CONSUMER FORUMS. DURING NORMAL OPERATION, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP) FEATURE AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATES ITSELF EVEN ON A DRY ROADWAY AND IN OPTIMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS WHERE THE RISK OF SKIDDING OR HYDROPLANING ARE MINIMAL. ADDITIONALLY, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES FOR NO APPARENT REASON ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

MY 2008 GRAND CHEROKEE WILL NOT START AT ALL. DASH LIGHT UP BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER. BATTERY IN NEW. STARTER TESTED AND OK. WIN RECALL WAS PERFORMED. 4WD SOFTWARE UPDATES WERE PERFORMED. OVER THE PAST YEAR THE VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE NO START/NO CRANK ISSUES. AFTER FEW HOURS OR DAYS, IT WILL TURN OVER. VEHICLES IS ALWAYS PARKED/NOT MOVING WHEN THIS OCCURS. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE TOW FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. IF THE TEST DOES NOT SHOW ANYTHING, I PAY ANOTHER $120 FOR THE DIAG AND HAVE TO PAY FOR TOW ELSEWHERE. JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE IS USELESS. I PAY MONTHLY PAYMENT AND INSURANCE FOR A DRIVEWAY ORNAMENT.
