WHILE EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY AND COMING TO A STOP AT A LIGHT ALL THE GAUGES ON MY VEHICLE WENT OUT. I NO LONGER HAVE THE FOLLOWING: BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, SPEED CONTROL, KEY FOB, POSSIBLY AIR BAGS AND GENERAL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THIS IS THE 2ND OCCURRENCE OF THIS PROBLEM. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WHILE TURNING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. VEHICLE IS PARKED UNTIL IT CAN BE SERVICED. DEALER UNABLE TO SERVICE AND WOULD ONLY SCHEDULE AN APPOINT FOUR DAYS FROM TODAY.
SECOND INCIDENT REGARDING TIRE SENSOR MONITOR. MECHANIC CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE AND TSM DEFLATED TIRE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AND TIRE IMMEDIATELY DEFLATES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FAILED TO RELEASE FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, WHICH CAUSED THE BATTERY TO WEAR PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED AN INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, KEY WAS IN THE ON POSITION SUDDENLY SHUTOFF CAUSING NO POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES, INSTRUMENT PANEL AND GAUGES WENT TO ZERO. WAS ABLE TO RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES. DROVE HOME, WENT TO START VEHICLE 1 HOUR LATER AND NOTHING HAPPENED. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND IS SIMILAR TO SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THIS MAKE AND YEAR. CHRYSLER HAS NO RECALL OR FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IS NOT WILLING TO RECOGNIZE IT AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS OR ALREADY HAS, DEAD PEOPLE DO NOT COMPLAIN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING TO ENTER THE FREEWAY, THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED TO RELEASE CAUSING THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION, DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,455.
HAD TO HAVE THE LEAKING POWER STEERING PUMP LINE REPLACED DUE TO HOLE IN THE LINE. *TR

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXHIBITING THE SAME FAILURES AS MENTIONED IN RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN). HOWEVER, THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS AWAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE IGNITION KEY MOVED INADVERTENTLY INTO THE OFF ACCESSORY. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES WHENEVER ENCOUNTERING A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
WHEN THE RED LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I TRY TO PROCEED ACROSS THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR JUST DIED. THE RADIO CONTINUED TO PLAY BUT I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER AND TURN ON MY FLASHERS. MEANWHILE THE RADIO CONTINUED TO PLAY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRY TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND IT DID INDEED START. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON I75 GOING 70MPH AND THE CAR STALLED I WOULD BE IN HUGE TROUBLE. THE GOODYEAR MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVER-SIDE AND PASSENGER-SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BOTH (AT DIFFERENT TIMES) JUST BROKE FOR NO REASON AND STARTED CRUMBLING IN PIECES. IT STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I ASKED ABOUT IT AT OUR DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED ME THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR ANYTHING. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND SAW THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY JEEP CHEROKEES HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND NO ONE UNDERSTANDS WHY THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON THIS COMMON PROBLEM. MY HANDLES HAVE GOTTEN SO BAD THAT I AM AFRAID OF THE SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY FAMILY AND I NOW. OF COURSE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AS WE WERE TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN BOTH OF THE HANDLES DID THIS.
WE WERE DRIVING AT APPROX 55 MPH (NOT BRAKING OR TURNING) WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE LOST ALL ACCELERATION, THE GAS AND MPH AS WELL AS DIRECTIONAL AND TEMPERATURE GAUGES WENT DARK/DROPPED TO ZERO, THEN THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PLACE THE CAR INTO PARK, REMOVED THE KEY, AND THEN RETURNED THE KEY AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR THEN STARTED NORMALLY. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. COMPLETELY DEAD. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER SAID BATTERY WAS BAD. REPLACED BATTERY. VEHICLE WAS OK FOR 3 DAYS. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THIS TIME DEALER FOUND VEHICLE WAS NOT GETTING PROPER VOLTAGE TO TRANSMISSION. NEEDED WIRING HARNESS REPLACED. VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR JOB. LUCKY FOR ME I HAVE A "LIFETIME" WARRANTY ON POWER TRAIN. I AM WONDERING IF THE TRANSMISSION WOULD STOPPED WORKING IF I WAS MOVING??? I TALK TO SOME WITH A 2007 MODEL AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. *TR

THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1020 BELMONT ST EASTON, MA) WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ROCHESTER HILLS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1301 S ROCHESTER RD, ROCHESTER HILLS, MI 48307) WHERE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
ON TWO OCCASION MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BOTH TIMES THE THERMOSTAT GAGE KEPT GOING UP AND DOWN. ON BOTH OCCASION I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE IT CHECKED. ON THE SECOND OCCASION THAT THIS HAPPENED I WAS TOLD THAT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. (PULL CODE #P2181) I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT TAKEN CARE OF. SINCE THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE I FELT THAT IT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE AT NO COST TO ME BUT WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NEED TO IN FACT PAY FOR THIS UPDATE. (NOT ONLY DO I NEED TO PAY BUT I ALSO HAVE TO TAKE TIME OFF FROM WORK TO HAVE THIS DONE). *TR

IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE LOST AIR PRESSURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM WAS CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,200.
ON AUGUST 26, 2014, THIS 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4X4 VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSING SERIOUS CERVICAL AND SPINAL INJURIES TO A PEDESTRIAN. THIS VEHICLE WAS IN A PARKED POSITION, ACCELERATED WITHOUT THE DRIVER TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, KEPT MOVING FORWARD ON ITS OWN ACCORD UNTIL THE VEHICLE ULTIMATELY STOPPED AFTER STRIKING A BUILDING METAL STAIRCASE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS SAFETY ISSUE TO PREVENT FURTHER PERSONAL INJURY AND, OR PROPERLY DAMAGE. *TR *JS *JS *JS
THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT SINCE AUGUST OF THIS YEAR. LATEST INCIDENT OCCURRED TODAY, OCTOBER 14, 2014. IN EACH INCIDENT, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY GOES INTO A ROUGH IDLE AND EVENTUALLY STALLS WITH LOSS OF POWER. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STEER THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND SWITCH BETWEEN OFF/START POSITIONS UNTIL THE VEHICLE STARTS. THE VEHICLE RUNS NORMALLY AFTER THESE INCIDENTS WITH NO "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT DISPLAYED. REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME THIS YEAR JEEP WAS NOT IN SCOPE OF THEIR RECENTLY ANNOUNCED RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

TWICE WITHIN THE PAST MONTH, MY 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH APPROXIMATELY 85,000 MILES HAS STALLED ON ME WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES I TOOK IT TO A GARAGE; THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. NO CODES WERE THROWN EITHER TIME AND NEITHER SERVICE PERSON WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. IT MAY BE A COINCIDENCE, BUT BOTH TIMES THIS HAPPENED, I HAD FILLED MY TANK WITH GAS THAT DAY. ON BOTH INSTANCES, I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES. ADDITIONALLY, FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, THE CAR OFTEN DOES NOT START ON THE FIRST TRY. IT WILL START WITH NO PROBLEMS ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE WIN MODULE; THIS DID NOT SEEM TO HELP. THE THROTTLE BOTTLE WAS ALSO REPLACED IN CASE THAT WAS CAUSING THE STALLING; THAT DID NOT HELP EITHER.I NOW FEEL AS IF I AM RISKING MY LIFE AND MY KIDS' LIVES EVERY TIME I STEP INTO THE CAR AND TAKE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THIS STALLING ISSUE HAPPENS ON A HIGHWAY, WE COULD BE KILLED IN AN INSTANT. VERY DANGEROUS AND THE SERVICE PEOPLE DON'T SEEM ALL THAT CONCERNED...THEY CAN'T PINPOINT THE ISSUE SO THEY CHARGE ME $100+ AND SEND ME ON MY WAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR SUDDENLY WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR, I HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL MY DRIVING. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY THREE DAYS AFTER I HAD THE RECALL DONE FOR THE TRANSFER CASE AT CHAMPION CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. I TOOK IT BACK IN JULY AND THEY TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSFER CASE WHICH I ENDED SPENDING A 1000 TO REPLACE. PICKED UP THE CAR AND AS SOON AS I DROVE IT OFF THE SAME THINGS HAPPENED. I HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL BEFORE GOING INTO 3RD GEAR. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CHAMPION CHRSYLER AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE SOLENOID. I JUST SPENT ANOTHER 1000 TO GET THAT FIXED. THEY SAID THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY FIX THE PROBLEM. SPOKE TO CHRYSLER CORP. ON FIRST INCIDENT AND SERVICE MGR NO LUCK. SPOKE TO SERVICE MGR ON 2ND FIX AND NO LUCK. LONG STORY SHORT GETTING THE RECALL FIX COST ME 2000 WHEN IT SUPPOSE TO BE FREE OF CHARGE. CHRYSLER'S RECALL SOLUTION FOR THE TRANSFER CASE IS COSTING CONSUMERS MORE OUT OF POCKET. I HAD NEVER HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN NEUTRAL BEFORE GETTING THE RECALL DONE. *TR
AFTER DRIVING PROLONGED TIME ON XPRESSWAY AND SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING, THE JEEP HESITATES, MISFIRES AND LETS OUT GIANT CLOUDS OF WHITE SMOKE OUT TAILPIPE AFTER ACCELERATING WITH PARTIAL OR FULL THROTTLE. ALMOST CAUSED MAJOR FREEWAY ACCIDENT MULTIPLE TIMES TRYING TO SWITCH LANES OR PULL ONTO FREEWAY ONRAMP. CAR BEEN INTO DEALERSHIP 3 OR MORE TIMES FOR SAME COMPLAINTS. SINCE CAR THROWS NO CODES AND DEALERSHIP CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON THEIR TEST DRIVES, DEALER JUST KEEPS HANDING THE JEEP BACK TO ME AND SAYING NO ISSUE WITH JEEP. MY JEEP HAS ALSO STALLED UNDER HARD BRAKING ON AT LEAST ONE OCCASION. VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION(S) WITH NO SATISFACTION FROM DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. CHRYSLER ALSO CONTACTED AND OPENED CASE FILE. THEY WOULDN'T AUTHORIZE ANY WORK TO BE DONE TO THE JEEP EITHER. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED PROPERLY, HAS 90K MILES CURRENTLY AND A LIFETIME WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER WHICH SEEMS WORTHLESS AS CHRYSLER WON'T PICK UP A SCREWDRIVER TO LOOK FOR PROBLEM IF THE JEEP DOESN'T THROW A CODE. I PURCHASED A USED 2009 GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE SAME DEALERSHIP APPROXIMATELY 10+ TIMES FOR THE SAME REASON, ELECTRICAL. CLEARLY CHRYSLER IS AWARE THERE IS AN ISSUE, AS THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY PICKED UP THE REPAIR TAB SINCE I STARTED AN ACTUAL CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL START THE VEHICLE UP TO TEN TIMES NO PROBLEM, THEN STOP SOMEWHERE COME BACK TO START VEHICLE AGAIN AND IT JUST WONT START. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS DRAGGED THEIR FEET SO FAR, AND THEIR FOLLOW UP HAS BEEN POOR AT BEST. ALL THE DEALERSHIP HAS DONE IS CONTINUE TO RE DIAGNOSE THAT THERE IS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM EACH TIME AS I THE CONSUMER CONTINUE TO PAY THOUSANDS FOR THE FAULTY ELECTRICAL, AND CHEAP PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN ENGINEERED IN MY TRUCK. ONCE AGAIN, THE CONSUMER FOOTS THE BILL FOR CORPORATE AMERICAS SHORTCOMINGS. THEIR IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLERS WIRELESS IGNITION CYLINDER, VERY SIMILAR TO THE GM RECALL ON IGNITIONS IF YOU ASK ME. NOW I HAVE NO VEHICLE AGAIN AS I SIT HERE WAITING FOR CHRYSLER TO DO SOMETHING, COMPLETELY ON CHRYSLERS TIME CLOCK. FOR WHAT WE SPEND ON THESE VEHICLES TODAY, THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICE PROVIDED BY JEEP AND CHRYSLER HAVE MADE ME SICK TO MY STOMACH. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP PRODUCT IN THE NEXT 30 YEARS THAT I PURCHASE VEHICLES DUE TO THE POOR QUALITY OF PARTS, AND THE TERRIBLE FOLLOW UP AND SERVICE BY CHRYSLER CORPORATION... *TR
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.7L HEMI ENGINE. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, IDLE WAS VERY ROUGH, AND VEHICLE SHUT OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY, ESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND EXPERIENCED NO FURTHER ISSUE, HOWEVER CEL STAYED ILLUMINATED. AFTER A COUPLE QUICK TRIPS AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD THE CEL TURNED OFF AND THE VEHICLE RAN NORMAL. A COUPLE DAYS LATER WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE STALLED, AND THE CEL CAME BACK ON. RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND IT RAN NORMAL THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY, CEL STAYED LIT FOR A WHILE, BUT EVENTUALLY TURNED OFF. I PULLED THE CODE FOR THE CEL USING MY ODB READER, AND IT WAS A P0129 (BAROMETRIC PRESSURE OUT OF RANGE). I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, BY THE TIME I GOT THERE THE CEL WAS NO LONGER LIT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO FIND THE STORED CODE, BUT SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THEY CHECKED THE MAP SENSOR, AND SAID IT WAS FINE, BUT REFUSED TO TAKE ANY FURTHER ACTION SINCE IT WAS NOT EXHIBITING ANY ISSUES ASIDE FROM THE STORED CODE THEY FOUND. SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I'VE FOUND MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE ON THIS SERIES GRAND CHEROKEE, MANY, AS I, WHO ARE FRUSTRATED WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. DEALER HAS ADVISED ME TO COME PICK UP MY VEHICLE, WITHOUT ANY FIX OR EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO MY DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL THAT I WAS SUGGESTED TO DO. THE RECALL # IS: N23. NOW, THERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH LOW GEAR 4X4 AND NEUTRAL POSITION. I CANNOT USE THESE MODES. THE FOLLOWING INCIDENTS OCCURRED AFTER PERFORMANCE OF CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL N23/NHTSA 13V-175. WE USE OUR 2009 GRAND CHEROKEE AS A TOWED VEHICLE BEHIND OUR MOTORHOME. PRIOR TO RECALL EXECUTION THE 4WD SYSTEM PERFORMED AS EXPECTED BY GOING INTO THE "N" POSITION WHEN SELECTED. SINCE RECALL N23 I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES OF FAILURE OF THE TRANSFER CASE TO SHIFT INTO "N". EVEN REPLACING THE TRANSFER CASE ACTUATOR AT MY EXPENSE ONLY TO INCUR THE SAME SITUATION TWO TIMES AGAIN. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, POST RECALL,RESULTED IN MY HAVING TO PAY $91.17 FOR A "RESET" OF THE ACTUATOR WHEN OUT OF TOWN AND THEN I PAID ($789.30) FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE ACTUATOR AFTER ARRIVING HOME AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. I WAS DRIVING ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY NORTH TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH (THE SPEED LIMIT) AND I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE THREE LANE LOCAL LANES. I DRIFTED TOO FAR TO THE LEFT AND HIT THE RUMBLE STRIPS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IMMEDIATELY, MY TPMS LIGHT CAME ON AND I PULLED OVER RIGHT AWAY. APPARENTLY, MY TPMS SENSOR ON THE TIRE BROKE AND WAS LETTING AIR OUT OF MY TIRE. WHAT HAPPENED WAS, THE METAL SCREW THAT IS AROUND THE METAL VALVE STEM SHEERED OFF AND NOTHING WAS HOLDING THE VALVE STEM/TPMS IN PLACE EXCEPT FOR THE AIR PRESSURE INSIDE THE TIRE. WHEN I RAN OVER THE RUMBLE STRIP, IT MUST HAVE DISLODGED THE SENSOR AND STARTED LETTING AIR OUT OF MY TIRE. I WENT TO A TIRE SHOP AND THEY FOUND A BROKEN TPMS SENSOR AND THEY REPLACED THE VALVE STEM WITH A STANDARD NON-TPMS VALVE STEM. MY TIRE WAS UNDAMAGED AND IS BACK ON THE RIM, SO IT WAS 100% A PROBLEM WITH THE TPMS SENSOR. FURTHERMORE, LAST YEAR, I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I GOT A FLAT TIRE AND MY TPMS WAS DAMAGED. NOW, LOOKING BACK, I FEEL THAT THE TPMS MUST HAVE FAILED CAUSING MY FLAT TIRE. IN THAT INCIDENT, MY TIRE WAS DESTROYED BECAUSE OF THE FLAT. I NOTICE NOW THAT CHRYSLER HAS A NEWER VERSION OF THEIR TPMS SENSORS THAT GO ON THE WHEEL. THE NEW VERSION HAS A RUBBER VALVE STEM, WHILE THE ONES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE A METAL VALVE STEM. OBVIOUSLY, CHRYSLER HAS FOUND AN ISSUE WITH THE METAL ONES AND HAVE UPDATES THEIR PARTS. I THINK THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND EVEN THOUGH I AM OK, I CAN FORSEE THIS CAUSING MAJOR PROBLEMS. FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVERS DOOR INTERIOR HANDLES ARE CRACKING. THE CRACKING IS GOING TO LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE IN A EMERGENCY. WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY THE CAR STALLED AND HAD DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE CAR TO THE ROAD SHOULDER. THE CAR WAS RESTARTED AFTER STOPPING FOR FEW MINUTES. TIRE HAD GONE FLAT TWICE FOR WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE TIRE IT SELF. WITH FURTHER INSPECTION THERE WAS A CRACK FOUND ON THE REAR FACE OF THE WHEEL STARTING FROM THE INSIDE AND WORKING OUT TO THE TIRE SEALING SURFACE. THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE TIRE AND NO BEND OR SCRAPS IN THE ALUMINUM WHEEL INDICATING AN IMPACT. THERE IS CORROSION IN THE CRACK WHICH WOULD LEAD ONE TO BELIEVE THIS TO BE A FATIGUE CRACK AND IT BEING IN THE WHEEL FOR SOME LENGTH OF TIME. VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY DEALER, PHOTOS WHERE TAKEN AND THE DEALER LEFT THE DECISION TO REPLACE THE ALUMINUM WHEEL UP TO THE REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER. THE REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER DENIED THE CLAIM ON THE BASIS OF WHEELS BEING A WEAR ITEM. THIS WAS RELAYED VIA THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE WHEEL, AND THE WHEEL ITSELF IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION. IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS NOT AN IMPACT CRACK, BUT INSTEAD A FATIGUE CRACK. THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT SOMETIMES TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT EITHER ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW AND REACHING OUT, OR SOMEBODY OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE OPENING THE DOOR. IF WE WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE WE NEEDED TO QUICKLY EXIT THE VEHICLE, WE WOULD PROBABLY BE OUT OF LUCK!! TO MAKE THINGS WORSE, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $850 PER DOOR TO FIX THIS WITH THE SAME TYPE OF DOOR PANEL THAT HAS FAILED. IT HAS NOT BEEN RE-DESIGNED OR IMPROVED AND WHO HAS $3400 TO FIX THEIR DOOR HANDLES! I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING THAT JEEP KNOWS IS DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD HAVE TO RECALL THIS. THESE ARE NOT CHEAP VEHICLES, BUT OBVIOUSLY CHEAP MADE!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A HISSING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VALVE STEM SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
WHILE I AM DRIVING THE KEY WILL FLIP BACK, THUS SHUTTING THE CAR OFF WHILE IN MOTION. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, HITTING BUMPS, AND SIMPLY DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD. EVERYTHING WILL LOCK UP, CAN NOT STEER, I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE PULLED AWAY AS IN DRIVING ITSELF. MY ONLY CONTROL WAS THE BRAKES. IT WAS SCARY THANK GOD NO ONE GOT HURT. ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME. I'VE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING IS WRONG. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 4 DIFF TIMES. WHEN I PUT THE CAR ON PARK THE RPM REVS UP TO 5000 RPM I HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO IMMEDIATELY. *TR
