DRIVING 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. RIGHT FRONT TIRE INSTANTLY WENT FLAT PRECEEDED BY A LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR. AUTO CLUB INSTALLED SPARE AND NOTED THAT THE TIRE VALVE (TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WHEEL SENSOR) WAS GONE. TIRE DEALER CHECKED TIRE (NOW DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR) AND FOUND THE PRESSURE SENSOR FELL INTO THE WHEEL BECAUSE THE THREADED NUT THAT HOLDS THE SENSOR IN PLACE FAILED AND SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. INSPECTION OF SENSOR ASSEMBLY SHOWED CLEAR EVIDENCE OF SEVERE CORROSION TO THE THREADS WHICH ALLOWED RETAINING NUT TO SEPARATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. INSPECTION BY TIRE DEALER OF ALL OTHER WHEELS SHOWED SIMILAR CONDITION. VEHICLE IS REGULARLY MAINTAINED BY JEEP DEALER SHOPS, DRIVEN PRIMARILY IN NY STATE. THIS ISSUE IS WORSE THAN DRIVING ON LOW PRESSURE TIRES AS IT OCCURS CATASTROPHICALLY. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE IS 100% OEM (NO DISSIMILAR METALS IN USE). CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NO INDICATION FROM MANUFACTURER OF THIS DEFECT OR SUGGESTED PREVENTATIVE ACTIONS.
THERE IS A LEAK COMING FROM THE MAPLIGHT, AND THE A POSTS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE LEAK GETS WORSE THE FASTER YOU DRIVE. DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE CAUSED BY THE SUNROOF DRAINS. THE DRAINAGE TUBE GETS FROZEN OR CLOGGED AND THEN LEAKS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER. *TR
PURCHASED NEW IN 2009. THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2009 LIMITED 8 CYLINDER HEMI ENGINE STARTED LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID FROM THE POWER STEERING LINE WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE. THE MECHANIC BACK IN 2012 SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING LINE LEAKING DUE TO PRESSURE AND NEEDED TO REPLACE IT. SAID IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND LOSS OF STEERING SO I PAID THE LARGE PRICE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A ONE-OFF PROBLEM. THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAPPENED ONE MONTH AGO IN 2014 (EXACTLY 2 YEARS LATER) AND I WAS CURIOUS IF OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I DID SOME RESEARCH TO FIND THAT SAME CHRYSLER ENGINE AND POWER STEERING USED IN MANY 2009-2012 JEEPS AND DODGE RAM TRUCKS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE OF A POWER STEERING LINE FAILURE. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AS IT CAN CAUSE FIRES AND/OR LOSS OF STEERING. I BELIEVE THERE IS ALREADY AN INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSA # PE 12-020. THE ODI NOS. 10465379, 10461736, 10459178. AFTER RECEIVING N23 SAFETY RECALL "FIX" LOST USE OF 4WD LOW RANGE (WHICH ALSO ALLEGEDLY COMPROMISES CLUTCH PACKS CONTROLLING HIGH-RANGE 4WD SYSTEM TORQUE/POWER DISTRIBUTION). JEEP DEALER DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED TRANSFER CASE ACTUATOR. "FIX" LASTED 1MO. RETURNED TO DEALER; TROUBLE CODES CLEARED. PROBLEM RETURNED IN LESS THAN 24H. THIS IS THE CORRESPONDENCE SENT TO JEEP: ...I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SOFTWARE ISSUE, AND MY REASONS ARE THIS: 1) THE ACTUATOR WORKS AS DESIGNED AFTER ALL CODES ARE RESET/CLEARED (THOUGH THE DURATION FOR WHICH THIS WORKS IS NOT CONSISTENT) 2) PULLING A FUSE FOR THE FDCM IS THE SAME AS "RESETTING/CLEARING" THE TROUBLE CODE - THIS DOES NOT POINT TO THE HARDWARE AS THE PROBLEM. 3) IF I UNDERSTAND THE SYSTEM CORRECTLY, LOSING FUNCTIONALITY OF THIS PORTION OF THE SYSTEM, WITH MY QUADRA-DRIVE II, CAUSES A SAFETY SIDE-EFFECT OF COMPROMISED TRACTION CONTROL SINCE THE CLUTCH PACKS IN THE TRANSFER CASE FOR AWD FUNCTION MALFUNCTION WHEN THE TROUBLE CODE IS LODGED. THIS VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY (ALBEIT WITH RISK OF A ROLL-AWAY WHEN REMOTE START IS USED WITHOUT THE PARKING BRAKE) PRIOR TO THE N23 RECALL. FOR IT TO ONLY EXHIBIT ISSUES AFTER THE RECALL, THEN CONTINUE TO EXHIBIT THEM AFTER REPLACING THE TRANSFER CASE ACTUATOR MAKES THE SOFTWARE UPDATE HIGHLY SUSPECT AS A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR, IF NOT A ROOT CAUSE. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE (IF IT IN FACT COMPROMISES THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM) IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, AND BELIEVE THAT IF FCA CANNOT FIND A SOLUTION QUICKLY, I WILL TAKE ACTION. I USE MY JEEP DAILY TO COMMUTE ON PUBLIC ROADS, AND CANNOT CONTINUE TO AFFORD TO HAVE IT OUT OF SERVICE OR AT RISK OF INCREASED SAFETY HAZARD. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE... TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND IT FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLASTIC HAD BEGUN TO DECAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO THE FAILURE TWO KEYS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,387.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE SHOP FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE KEY FOB WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER THEN REPLACED THE KEY, WIN MODULE AND IGNITION SWITCH. SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,232. UPDATED 10/07/15*LJ *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUBBER ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE SPARE TIRE THAT CAME EQUIPPED WITH THE VEHICLE WAS WORN. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTICED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON U.S. HIGHWAY 270 IN ARKANSAS THIS DATE, MY 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. I WAS PRESSING SLIGHTLY ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHILE GOING UP A HILL WHEN THE ENGINE WENT INTO A WIDE OPEN THROTTLE CONDITION. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED-OFF THE IGNITION, ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO COAST DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. UPON TURNING THE IGNITION BACK TO "ON" THE VEHICLE AGAIN EXPERIENCED SUA AND ACCELERATED QUICKLY TO 60+ MPH. I AGAIN TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COAST BACK DOWN. UPON TURNING THE IGNITION BACK TO "ON", THE ENGINE WENT BACK INTO A WIDE OPEN THROTTLE CONDITION AGAIN. AFTER FOUR TRIES (TURNING IGNITION "OFF", THEN "ON", THE ENGINE RPM RETURNED TO A NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE WITH MY TRIP. THERE WAS NO FLOOR MAT INTERFERENCE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE SPEED CONTROL SYSTEM WAS NOT ACTIVATED. I AM A PILOT WITH 500 HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME AND RECENT ANNUAL CHECK RIDE QUALIFICATION/TRAINING TO HANDLE EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. HAD MY WIFE OR THE AVERAGE DRIVER BEEN OPERATING THE CAR, THERE WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE SIMPLY WENT BERSERK. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROX 70 MPH MY LEFT REAR TIRE INSTANTLY WENT FLAT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR. WHEN I STOPPED MY CAR TO CHECK THE FLAT I NOTICED THAT THE TIRE VALVE (TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WHEEL SENSOR) WAS GONE. WHEN I CHANGED THE TIRE I REALIZED THE PRESSURE SENSOR FELL INTO THE WHEEL BECAUSE THE THREADED NUT THAT HOLDS THE SENSOR IN PLACE FAILED AND BROKE IN TWO CAUSING THE TIRE TO LOOSE ALL ITS AIR AT ONCE. I CHECKED THE RETAINING NUTS ON THE REMAINING WHEELS TO DISCOVER THEY WERE ALL CRACKED BADLY AND COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME. I LATER LEARNED FROM THE DEALER THAT CHRYSLER HAS UPDATED THE PART NUMBER TO A NEW RUBBER VALVE SENSOR, AND THE SENSOR I HAVE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT TO MY SURPRISE HAS NOT ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN OR A RECALL. WHAT IF IT HAD BEEN A FRONT TIRE THAT WENT FLAT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN INJURY OR DEATH TO MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE? I'VE CALLED CHRYSLER CUST ASSISTANCE AND AM WORKING IT OUT WITH THEM CURRENTLY. BUT FROM WHAT I'VE GATHERED SO FAR THEY DON'T SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE. TO ME THIS IS A HUGE LIABILITY ISSUE, AND AN EVEN BIGGER SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT (SKIDDING CAR) FLASHES, FEELS LIKE ABS IS BEING APPLIED TO PASSENGER FRONT WHEEL EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT APPLYING THE BRAKES AND EVEN WHEN ACCELERATING. USUALLY ONLY STOPS WHEN THE EAS/BAS LIGHTS COME ON. ALWAYS WORSE ON WARM DAYS. JEEP SAYS THERES NO ISSUE BUT AFTER 5 MINUTES ON THE INTERNET, THATA CLEARLY NOT TRUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE INPUT SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
JEEP CHEROKEES STALL WHILE BEING DRIVEN....THEY CUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING...THE REASON THEY CUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION IS DUE A WIRING HARNESS DESIGN FLAW, BUT JEEP IS KEEPING THIS MATTER A SECRET AND THEY DENY THEY HAVE A PROBLEM THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY...SOMEONE OR SOME AGENCY NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER IN ORDER TO SEE HOW SERIOUS AND WIDESPREAD THIS PROBLEM IS, SURF THE INTERNET AUTO SITES REGARDING ALL THE JEEP CHEROKEES THAT STALL OUT WHILE BEING DRIVEN. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE ON THE NEWS THAT A DRIVER WAS KILLED WHEN HIS OR HER CHEROKEE STALLED CAUSING A MASSIVE WRECK AND DEATHS....THAT IS WHY I AM REPORTING THIS MATTER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS AND A NEW THERMOSTAT WAS INSTALLED. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
FRONT TIRES SEPARATED AT THE INNER SECTION OF TIRE. THE GROOVED SECTION OF TIRE SEPARATED FROM SIDEWALL CAUSING AN INSTANT BLOWOUT AND LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. PASSENGER TIRE FAILED COMPLETELY. DRIVER SIDE HAS SAME WEAR AND SEPARATION BUT DID NOT FAIL AT THIS POINT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE 22,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS A CIRCUIT IN THE DOWN SHIFT MODE THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. DURING THE FAILURES, THE CONTACT HAD A HARD TIME MANEUVERING THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONATCT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DID NOT RESPOND RAPIDLY TO OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE CHANGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WAS WRITING TO YOU TO COMPLAIN ABOUT TPMS SENSORS THAT ARE REQUIRED ON VEHICLES THESE DAYS. AS A FAST LUBE OPERATOR, WE ARE EXPERIENCING MORE AND MORE TPMS SENSORS BREAKING APART WHEN JUST TRYING TO GET THE CAP OFF TO AIR UP A CUSTOMERS TIRE. WE HAVE ALSO HAD INSTANCES WHERE THE SENSOR BROKE AS SOON AS WE PUT THE AIR CHUCK ON THE VALVE STEM TO AIR UP THE TIRE. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE CUSTOMER EXPECTS US TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SENSOR BECAUSE IT WASN'T BROKEN WHEN THEY GOT THERE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE. IT MIGHT FORCE US TO QUIT CHECKING PEOPLES TIRE PRESSURE WHICH IS WHY THEY WERE INVENTED TO BEGIN WITH (THE WHOLE FIRESTONE-FORD EXPLORER SAGA). THESE SENSOR NEED TO BE MADE OUT OF A DIFFERENT MATERIAL OR REMOVED FROM VEHICLES ALL TOGETHER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART BY BEING PLACED IN NEUTRAL AND RESTARTING. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,300.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH DOWN HILL WITH PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. REPEATED PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL IT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE WORKING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 9,000.
VEHICLE SUFFERS LOSS OF ACCELERATION. THIS CAN OCCUR WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC, ATTEMPTING TO PASS. ROUTINELY HAPPENS AFTER TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT CONSISTENT SPEED BUT HAS HAPPENED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO OR OFF INTERSTATE. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN OCCASIONS WHEN VEHICLE APPEARED TO BACKFIRE DISCHARGING PLUME OF WHITE SMOKE. DIAGNOSTICS AT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT SHOW ANY PROBLEMS BUT WHEN A COMPUTER WAS HOOKED UP TO THE VEHICLE, IT CAPTURED UNEXPLAINABLE READINGS THAT ASTOUNDED THE MECHANICS. DEALERSHIP HAS CHANGED TWO MAP SENSORS AND THIS HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *TR
EVERY TIME I MOVE THE FRONT SEAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE TO PUSH THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH TO GET IT TO GO OFF. OR IT WILL STAY ON. I TOOK IT IN 8/16/2010 THE REPLACE THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE THIS IS NOT WHAT IT WAS. THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON EVERYTIME YOU MOVE THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT. I JUST HOPE THE AIR BAG DOES NOT COME OUT. *KB

THE CONTACT WOULD SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND UPON RESTARTING; THE VEHICLE WOULD OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS WHERE THE PCM WAS UPDATED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED HE WOULD SPORADICALLY HAVE INCIDENTS WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,900.
THE PLASTIC BUMPER IS HELD IN PLACE BY PLASTIC SNAPS WHICH EASILY FALL APART. THE BUMPER THEN FALLS DOWN WHERE THE SNAPS NO LONGER HOLD IT IN PLACE RENDERING IT USELESS UPON IMPACT. THE SMALLEST IMPACT WOULD BREAK THE SNAPS WHICH CANNOT BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED WITHOUT REPLACING THE ENTIRE BUMPER. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE BUMPER. THIS IS ALSO THE ONLY PROTECTION FOR THE RADIATOR AND VERY DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES BECAUSE THE BUMPER WILL FALL APART RATHER THAN PROVIDE THE SUPPORT IT IS SUPPOSED TO WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. *TR

MOST RECENTLY THE ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH. THE CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED 8 TIMES, WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING RESOLVED. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 09E039000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FRONT DOOR HANDLES AND PANELS ARE COMING APART. THE PLASTIC PANEL IS VERY BRITTLE AND BOTH HANDLES ARE JUST HANGING WITHIN THE PANEL COMPARTMENT WITH NO SUPPORT OR ATTACHMENT. RESEARCH ON THIS SITUATION HAS SHOWN ME THAT THIS IS A "VERY COMMON" PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A VEHICLE RECALL. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS A MAJOR CONCERN FOR ME AND MY PASSENGERS SHOULD WE HAVE THE NEED TO EXIT IN A HURRY. THIS RAISES A CONCERN FOR BOTH MY CHILDREN SHOULD WE HAVE A NEED TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE SPOKEN TO LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIPS AND THEY TELL ME THAT SINCE I AM THE "SECOND OWNER" THE VEHICLE WOULD BE OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE IS JUST OVER 20,000 MILES, AND BEING A SECOND OWNER MAKES THE CAR LESS VALUABLE???? WHERE IS THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ON THESE MATTERS. THE DEALER WANTS OVER $2,000 TO REPLACE/REPAIR THE TWO FRONT DOOR TRIM PANELS AND DOOR HANDLES IN QUESTION. I HAVE ALSO CHECKED WITH TWO TRIM SHOPS IN THE AREA WHO TELL ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL, AND WITH THE COMPASS AND WRANGLER MODELS. THIS IS THE RESULT OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, NORMAL EVERYDAY USE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE SOMETHING THAT WOULD BREAK DOWN THIS EASILY. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE REPAIRS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH SHODDY MATERIALS AND NO COMPASSION ON THE PART OF THE MANUFACTURER TO GET INVOLVED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
