I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK IN THE PASSING LANE, WHEN THE RPM'S WENT WAY UP AND THEN WAY DOWN. I HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND LOSS OF POWER FROM ENGINE. NO ENGINE LIGHT INDICATOR WAS ON BEFORE THIS HAPPENED OR ANY SORT OF INDICATION THIS WAS ABOUT TO OCCUR. I PULLED OVER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT WAS BROKEN INTERNALLY AND THAT THIS IS A DEFECT OF WORKMANSHIP AS I CAN SHOW RECORDS OF EVERY OIL CHANGE ON THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IS OFFERING NO GOOD WILL AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO HELP AS THE MILEAGE IS 114,000. I STILL OWE CLOSE TO $13,000 ON THIS VEHICLE AND TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IT IS GOING TO COST $7,800.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN THE PARTS WOULD TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED A FAILURE RELATED TO THE RECALL BUT THE DETAILS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
I JUST READ AN ARTICLE IN THE MAY 2016 ISSUE OF TRAILER LIFE MAGAZINE INVOLVING FORD F-150 AND THERE BRAKE FAILURE ISSUES. THE EXACT PROBLEM HAPPENED WITH MY JEEP. I WAS PULLING OUR CAMPER (UNLOADED), DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE BRAKE PEDAL OF MY JEEP WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. I GOT SAFELY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO CHECK THE FUID LEVEL. THE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR WAS LOW BUT NOT EMPTY. I MANAGED TO GET HOME, ABOUT 6 MILES AND THE NEXT DAY TOOK THE TO JEEP DEALER WHERE THEY FOUND THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAD DEVELOPED A VACUUM LEAK (THEY SAID) CAUSING COMPLETE FAILURE OF BRAKING SYSTEM. DEALER REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER, DID A COMPLETE BRAKE JOB, REPLACED ALL ROTORS AND FLUSHED SYSTEM. $1350 LATER I WAS BACK ON THE ROAD. UNTIL I READ THIS ARTICLE I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. HOPEFULLY IT IS A COINCIDENCE.
REPLACED TIPM 15 MONTHS AGO. TODAY, TURNING INTO PARKING LOT CAR STALL. LOST ALL POWER STEERING, NO BRAKES, NO ENGINE. HAD TO RESTART WHILE COASTING. DECELERATING AT 45 MPH MAKING A LEFT TURN.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKING ABILITY WOULD BE LIMITED IN COLD CONDITIONS FOLLOWING THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,479.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE-TURNING SIGNAL FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR TAIL LIGHT CASING WAS BURNING INTERNALLY. THE CONTACT HAD THE DEALER REPLACE THE LIGHTING; HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE BULB FAILED BECAUSE OF WATER LEAKING IN THE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 2011 - SERIOUS FRONT CRITICAL SUSPENSION CONNECTIVITY POINT CORROSION / BINDING (LATEST 12/2015) VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM, EXTENSIVE CORROSION WITH KEY FRONT SUSPENSION CONNECTIVITY (LOWER CONTROL ARM MAIN BOLT/FRAME CONNECTION, BOTH SIDES). ISSUE SO BAD AN EVER-GROWING BINDING CREAKING NOISE BECAME AUDIBLE FROM THE CABIN. SOUND AUDIBLE WHEN ACCELERATING AND STOPPING. SEVERAL DEALER EFFORTS TO BEGIN TO ADDRESS WITH SERVICE EFFORTS SPANNING NEARLY 1.5 YEARS. VERY CONCERNING AS THIS IS A CRITICAL SUSPENSION CONNECTIVITY POINT, IF IT FAILS THE FRONT END WOULD COLLAPSE. SERVICING DEALER VICTORY CHRYSLER ABLE TO DIAGNOSE SHARED HOW EXTENSIVE CORROSION IS BUT COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS CORROSION AND BINDING OCCURRED. SUGGESTED WE SPEAK TO CHRYSLER, WHICH WE DID TO NO AVAIL (SEE OTHER ATTACHED). WE ASKED CHRYSLER TO INVESTIGATE, THEY DID NOT. WE SHARED VERY MUCH DETAIL JUST AS DONE HERE. WE ASKED FOR MONIES SPENT RETURNED AS THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, THEY DID NOT RETURN MONIES. AT MINIMUM THIS IS A SERIOUS WATER CONTROL ISSUE, AND AT WORST A SERIOUS DESIGN/MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH COULD AFFECT THOUSANDS. NO FIX SHARED, VICTORY CHRYSLER NOTED TO US THE BEST THEY CAN DO IS PULL THE BOLTS AGAIN IN THE FUTURE AND CLEAN/LUBE IF POSSIBLE. ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DECELERATING FROM 40MPH AT APROX. 15MPH WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AS RECENTLY AS LAST MONTH. ALL INSTRUMENTS, RADIO ETC. REMAINED POWERED. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY 2011 JGC WOULD NOT STOP WHILE HITTING THE BRAKE,IT SPEED UP AFTER IMPACT. I AM SURE I WAS HITTING THE BRAKE. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT IMPACT BUT LEFT THE ROAD AFTER THE IMPACT INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE IT FINALLY STOPPED.
MY CAR WOULD NOT START ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS--THE STARTER WOULD MAKE NOISE BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START. IT USUALLY STARTED ON THE SECOND OR THIRD TRY. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR DEFECTIVE TIPM UNIT BUT WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS NOT IN STOCK. WELL OVER A YEAR LATER, THE COMPANY STILL DOES NOT HAVE ANY IN STOCK. IN ADDITION, I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY HORN RANDOMLY DOING OFF (SOUNDS LIKE THE PANIC ALARM) EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IN MOTION. JEEP SHOULD BE MUCH MORE PROACTIVE ABOUT THIS AS AN STALLS DURING DRIVING AS A RESULT OF A TIPM DEFECT COULD CASE BODILY HARM TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS, AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD.
CAR STALLS WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING. HAS HAPPENED TWICE. LOSE POWER STEERING. ABLE TO RE-START.
WE WERE DRIVING LAST SATURDAY, WE WERE DRIVING ONTO A BUSY MAIN STREET THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, ANOTHER MADE A ILLEGAL MOVE AND SWIREVED INTO OUR VEHICLE, WE HONKED BUT THE HORN WOULDN'T WORK. WE STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER DRIVER APOLOGIZED WITH A WAVE OF THEIR HAND. WE STARTED TO DRIVE AGAIN, TRYING TO USE THE HORN WITH NO SUCCESS. ABOUT 15 LATER THE HORN STARTED TO SOUND. THE HORN HAS STOPPED AND STARTED. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS RECALLS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND CAUSED A LOSS OF BRAKING AND POWER STEERING ABILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
1. NONE OF THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WORK. I CANNOT USE THE CONTROLS TO CHANGE CHANNELS ON MY RADIO OR INCREASE / LOWER THE VOLUME. I CANNOT USE THE TELEPHONE HANDS FREE CONTROLS WHEN TRYING TO MAKE A PHONE CALL... 2. ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING. REGARDLESS OF WHAT CAR DOOR IS OPENED 3. LIGHT CAME ON SAYING TRACTION CONTROL WAS OFF. THE LIGHT WAS A PICTURE OF A CAR WITH TWO SQUIGGLY LINES BEHIND IT. I TRIED PRESSING THE TRACTION CONTROL BUTTON ON THE DASH BOARD PANEL ALONGSIDE THE STEERING WHEEL HEATER BUTTON. BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK. 4. MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OFF (HAVE TO REMOVE THE FUSE IN ORDER TO STOP THE WIPERS). I TRIED SQUIRTING THE WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID --- BUT IT WILL NOT WORK. MY REAR WINDOW WIPER WILL NOT TURN ON.... EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO TURN IT ON SEVERAL TIMES. 5. I HAVE NO TURN SIGNALS. THEY WOULD NOT COME ON NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I FLIPPED THE LEVER UP OR DOWN. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE 6. MY HORN DOES NOT WORK - MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE 7. MY HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT GO TO HIGH BEAM EVEN THOUGH THE DIAL IS SET TO AUTO. NOT TO MENTION MY WINDSHIELD WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED (LEAKS LOTS OF WATER WHEN RAINING) REPLACED --- STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PART # 1HE80HL9AF) - ACCORDING TO NORTHWEST JEEP IN BEAVERTON OREGON THAT WAS THE ISSUE -NOT DID NOT FIX A SINGLE ISSUE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (PART # 68244852AA) - ACCORDING TO OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS PART ALSO NEEDS REPLACED (SEEMS THAT PART OF TH TIPM WAS REPLACED - THE WHOLE UNIT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED.) WE ARE EXTREMELY UPSET AND DISPLEASED WITH CHRYSLER.... FOR THE POOR QUALITY OF THE PARTS THEY USED WHEN BUILDING MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. WE BOUGHT THIS 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND IN JUNE 2015 AND FOR BEING 4 YEARS OLD, IT SHOULD NOT BEING HAVING ALL THESE PROBLEMS!!!
THE ENGINE SEEMED TO LOSE POWER AND THE POWER STEERING AND BREAKS LOST POWER AS WELL. WAS MERGING FROM THE HIGHWAY ON TO A MAIN STREET IN A CITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NEARLY INOPERABLE BUT I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT AND RESTART IT. BUT THE BRAKES AND STEERING WERE LOCKED.
CHRYSLER RECALL # P54 REGARDING TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE. IT TOTALLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS PRIOR TO THE SO CALLED "FIX" VIA P54. MY VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING HOME LAST NITE. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT DOWN, IT HAS HAPPENED WHILST BREAKING AND COMING TO AN INTERSECTION. THIS WAS THE SAME AS LAST NITE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS CORNERING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. BATTERY IS FINE, FUEL IS FULL, I CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 4,000 MILES OR LESS AND ROTATE THE TIRES EVERY 6,000 MILES. THIS TIPM IS A REAL PROBLEM. SHUTTING A VEHICLE DOWN WHILE MOTORING IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I SINCERELY HOPE THE NHTSA TAKES ACTION ON THIS BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE ROOF ON THE DRIVER SIDE. IN ADDITION, THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LOST POWER. A FIRE AND A POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. THE FIREFIGHTERS SUSTAINED INJURIES WHILE EXTINGUISHING THE FIRE, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
MY CAR WILL STALL AND THEN ACCELERATE VERY QUICKLY. IF I AM DRIVING AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE MY CAR WILL STALL ALMOST CUTTING OFF. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AROUND A SPEED OF 25/30 MILE PER HOUR. I ALSO EXPERIENCED DECELERATION WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60/65 MPH. THIS IS VERY SCARY. ALSO WHEN I AM IN REVERSE MY TRANSMISSION MAKES A KNOCKING SOUND. MY ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY COMES ON. HEAT VAPORS COMES FROM THE HOOD OF THE CAR.
VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING 5 TIMES IN THE RECENT PAST. 1X19 OCT; 2X31 OCT; 2X7NOV. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS ALL POWER IS LOST FOR BREAKS, STEERING, AND OBVIOUSLY NO ACCELERATION. CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL P54 HAS BEEN APPLIED PRIOR TO THESE ISSUES. DEALER AND CHRYSLER ARE CHARGING ME CUSTOMER (AT MY EXPENSE) TO FLASH NEW SOFTWARE FILES ON THE VEHICLE COMPUTERS. I SENSE THIS IS VERY LIKELY A MUCH BROADER SAFETY ISSUE AND AM HOPING OUR GOVERNMENT (NHTSA) OFFICIALS WILL INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED AS A RESULT OF THIS.
SINCE SAFETY RECALL P54 WAS APPLIED, MY VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS 1 ON 19OCT, 2ON31OCT, AND 2ON7NOV. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT SAM LEHMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN PEORIA, IL. THEY CLAIM THAT I NEED NEW SOFTWARE AT MY EXPENSE TO ADDRESS THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWNS. ATTACHED TRANSCRIPT IS WITH CHRYSLER. THEY DO NOT APPEAR TO TAKE THIS SAFETY ISSUE VERY SERIOUSLY.
A FRIEND TOLD ME THAT I HAD A HEADLIGHT OUT. MY DASH WAS NOT SHOWING THAT I HAD A LIGHT OUT AND I COULDN'T TELL WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO ADVANCE AUTO PARTS TO BUY A NEW HEADLIGHT. AT THAT TIME, THE HEADLIGHT WAS WORKING FINE. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE FRONT OF THE CAR OFF IN ORDER TO REPLACE IT. THEY SAID THAT THE ISSUE WAS WITH THE BALLAST AND THAT THEY COULD NOT FIX IT.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE WHILE DECELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY. DEALER CAN NOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM, NO OPEN RECALLS ON VEHICLE.
10/10/2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 320 PM CDT, I WAS DRIVING I35 SOUTH BETWEEN DULUTH MN AND MINNEAPOLIS MN. SMOKE STARTED BILLOWING OUT OF THE HEADLINER, RH SIDE ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD/SUN VISOR. I PILLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PULLED THE A PILLAR AND PULLED DOWN THE HEADLINER. FLAMES WERE PRESENT, I REACHED IN THINKING IT WAS A WIRE (IT WAS) SUSTAINED BURNS ON MY RIGHT HAND. GRABBED THE OWNERS MANUAL , LOCATED THE FUSE FOR COURTESY LIGHTS UNDER THE HOOD, PULLED THE 15 AMP FUSE (WHICH HAD NOT BLOWN). REMOVED THE SUN VISOR AND VANITY LIGHT, AND ASSOCIATED WIRING. FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED AT THAT POINT. REMOVED THE VISOR AND WIRING, FOUND A BURNED CONNECTOR AND SMOLDERING WIRING. GRABBED A SIDE CUTTER AND TERMINATED THE WIRING TO THE LIGHTED VANITY LIGHT, AFTER REMOVING THE CENTER UPPER MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. I SUSTAINED MINOR BURNS RIGHT HAND (THREE FINGERS). VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN FIRE BROKE OUT SPEED 70 MPH. VEHICLE DAMAGE WAS INSPECTED BY DULUTH JEEP, DULUTH MN. DULUTH JEEP KEPT THE REMOVED PARTS. RECALL #36 WAS ACCOMPLISHED 11/2014 BY DULUTH JEEP.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATING CYLINDER # 2 MISFIRE AND AN ENGINE TICKING SOUND. I'M RESEARCHING THE ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER AND I'M SEE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE BUT I DON'T SEE ANY RECALLS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. CHRYSLER TELLS ME EVERY TIME TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER, QUIRK JEEP IN MARSHFIELD, MA. I DO. THEY RUN THE EVER POPULAR 'DIAGNOSTICS' AND FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. YET, IT KEEPS HAPPENING! THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. STATE POLICE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO WAIT FOR AAA SO I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET $120 TO BE TOWED OFF THE ROAD BY SOME NEANDERTHAL IN A TOW TRUCK. WHAT CAN I DO BEFORE I AM KILLED BY THIS VEHICLE? *THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS IN EARLY AUGUST OF THIS YEAR. I CONTACTED JEEP WITH THIS EMAIL AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR 'DIAGNOSTICS.' I DID AND THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM AGAIN! MY JEEP IS AGAIN LOSING SPEED AND POWER STEERING. IT IS RANDOM. TIPM FAILED CAUSING CAR TO STALL WHILE IN MOTION DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKES ALSO FAILED. LASTLY, POWER DOOR LOCKS ALSO FAILED WITH ONE YEAR OLD IN THE CAR.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY EYES STARTED BURNING THEN SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE VISOR. THEN THERE WERE SPARKS AND SMALL FLAMES FROM SUNROOF. IT ALMOST CAUGHT MY HAIR ON FIRE. I HAD THE RECAL WIRING REPLACED IN JULY AND THIS HAPPENED AUGUST 30, AFTER RECALL COMPLETED.
AUGUST 29, 2015 I HAD A TUNE-UP PERFORMED ON MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND. WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE I WAS INFORMED THAT WHEN THE SERVICE ADVISOR WAS REMOVING THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE A FIRE STARTED IN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SHOWED ME THE INTERIOR DAMAGE AND IT WAS THE PASSENGER SUN VISOR. THE VISOR HAD APPROXIMATELY A QUARTER SIZE BURN MARK ON THE PLASTIC PIECE COVERING THE VANITY MIRROR AND A BURN ON THE HEAD LINER DIRECTLY ABOVE THE DAMAGE ON THE COVER. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE THE CAR DIRECTLY TO THE OTHER DEALER THAT HAD DONE THE P36/NHTSA 14V-391 RECALL IN OCTOBER 2014 AS THE DEALER THAT HAD DONE THE TUNE UP WOULD NOT FIX THE DAMAGE AND WOULD NOT HELP WITH ANYTHING. AFTER I INQUIRED ABOUT MY SAFETY DRIVING THE VEHICLE (AT THE DEALER'S SUGGESTION) IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT PROBABLY SHOULD BE TOWED. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THAT HAD DONE THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER AND I CONTACTED CHRYSLER FOR ASSISTANCE. A CASE WAS OPENED FOR ME. ABOUT 2 WEEKS AFTER REPLACEMENT OF ALL FOUR ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS I APPLIED BRAKES WHILE TRAVELLING 30 MPH ON DRY ROAD AS THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WAS WAITING TO TURN LEFT. MY CAR TOOK A MUCH LONGER TIME AND DISTANCE TO STOP THAN USUAL. I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED 10 TO 15 FEET BEHIND THE CAR BUT DID NOT STOP UNTIL ABOUT A FOOT FROM THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HEARD A HISSING NOISE FROM THE AREA NEAR BRAKE PEDAL. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. HE SAID THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL THING TO OCCUR AND SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT JEEP TO SEE IF IT WAS PART OF A RECALL. I CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM ( CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED ) AND WAS TOLD THAT RECALL # P14 WAS PERFORMED IN OCT. 2014 TO PLACE A SHIELD NEAR THE POWER BOOSTER TO PREVENT WATER INFILTRATION TO AVOID CORROSION. I WAS TOLD THAT A NEW POWER BOOSTER WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT SINCE A RECALL WAS INITIATED TO PREVENT CORROSION OF THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER BUT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR 3 YEARS PRIOR TO THE SHIELD BEING INSTALLED THAT THE CORROSION CAUSED BY WATER INFILTRATION HAD ALREADY BEGAN AND THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER ITSELF SHOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL. SIMPLY PLACING A SHIELD AFTER THE CORROSION PROCESS STARTED DEFIES COMMON SENSE AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER WAS TESTED AT THE TIME THE SHIELD WAS INSTALLED, HOWEVER CORROSION (RUST ) IS AN ONGOING PROCESS.
