WITHIN THE FIRST TWO MONTHS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, IT DIDN'T WANT TO CRANK (DIDN'T TURN OVER). AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS, IT CRANKED FINE FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, SAME THING OCCURED. 09/03/14 SAME TYPE OF INCIDENT OCCURED EXCEPT ETC LIGHT CAME ON. CRANKED AFTER TWO SEPARATE ATTEMPTS. CAR ALARM ALSO RANDOMLY WILL GO OFF IN A PARKING LOT, ESPECIALLY WHENEVER LOCKED, WITH NO OTHER CARS OR INTERFERENCES AROUND (HAPPENS AT LEAST MONTHLY).

ON 5/18/2014 I LOST ALL POWER ASSISTED BRAKING DUE TO A FAILED BRAKE BOOSTER. ON MONDAY, 5/19-2014 I HAD IT REPLACED AT A LOCAL SHOP IN SHIELDS, MI. IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHRYSLER'S RECALL NOTICE P14-NHTSA 14V-154, I SUBMITTED A REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST FOR $382.82 TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AT P.O BOX 21-8007, AUBURN HILLS, MI LATER THAT MONTH AND A SUBMITTED A FOLLOW UP REQUEST ON AUGUST 5, 2014. TO DATE I HAVE RECEIVED NEITHER A REIMBURSEMENT NOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF MY REQUESTS. *TR
JEEP WILL NOT START ON FIRST TRY. I REMOVED THE PUSH START BUTTON AND BEGAN STARTING WITH THE KEY. THAT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT A MONTH THEN IT REQUIRED MULTIPLE TRIES TO GET IT STARTED. I HAVE NOW STARTED USING THE REMOTE START AND IT WORKED FOR 4 DAYS. IT IS NOT HARD TO START EVERY TIME BUT AT LEAST TWICE A DAY I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT. I HAD THE JEEP DEALERSHIP CHECK MY BATTERY IN AUGUST TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND THEY INFORMED ME MY BATTERY WAS FINE. *TR
NONE OF THESE THREE RECALLS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER OR MY DEALER. THEY ARE RECALL #'S14V-154;14V-391;14V-530 RESPECTIVELY. THE DEALER IS CLAIMING THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT PROVIDING THE NECESSARY PARTS TO REMEDY THE RECALLS. I DON'T WANT MY FAMILY AT RISK DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE, OR STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS A RESULT OF THE FUEL PUMP ISSUE. I CALLED LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO HAVE RECALL PERFORMED. THE DEALER PUT ME ON A "LIST", I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM SINCE. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM AND THEY SAID I WAS STILL ON THE LIST. I CONSIDER BRAKES TO BE A VERY IMPORTANT SYSTEM IN THE FUNCTION OF MY VEHICLE. *TR
I'VE BEEN RECEIVING RECALL NOTICES ON A JEEP I PURCHASE LAST FEBRUARY (USED) ON RECALLS P14, P36 AND P54. I CONTINUOUSLY CALL JEEP TO HAVE THESE ISSUES REPAIRED AND AM TOLD THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, JEEP HASN'T SHIPPED OR THEY JUST HAVE TOO MANY RECALLS. THE DEALER ALSO RESET THE SENSORS MORE THAN TWICE AND THEY STILL ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER SUGGESTED AN INTERIM FIX OF FILLING THE FUEL HALFWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V530000 (FUEL PROPULSION SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO WAITING FOR TWO OTHER RECALLS TO BE PERFORMED, BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V39100 (VISIBILITY) AND 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES). I WAS ADVISED IN MAY THIS YEAR THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY CAR, HAVING TO DO WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER SHIELD. I CALLED THE DEALER (PRO R CHRYSLER JEEP 1800 W 104TH AVE. DENVER CO 80234)) REGARDING THE REPAIR, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS HAVE NOT COME IN YET, AND I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THEY DO. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I CALLED AGAIN TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE PART AND REPAIR, AND WAS TOLD I WAS #20 ON THE LIST, AND SHOULDN'T BE MORE THAN ABOUT 2 WEEKS, AND I WOULD BE CALLED! ITS NOW THE END OF AUGUST, CALLED AGAIN TODAY, TALKED TO [XXX], AND WAS TOLD AGAIN, ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, NONE OF THE PARTS HAVE COME IN FROM CHRYSLER, AND I NEED TO CONTINUE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY COME IN. BRAKE BOOSTER ISSUE WITH 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED GRAND CHEROKEE FROM A DEALERSHIP. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL IS EXTREMELY STIFF AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE AT TIMES. THIS IS NOT A CONSISTENT ISSUE. BRAKES WILL BEHAVE NORMALLY AND THEN PEDAL WILL BECOME VERY STIFF THE NEXT TIME THE BRAKE IS DEPRESSED. MY MECHANIC EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED ME OF THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT. THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM AND CHRYSLER BOTH STATE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT RECALLED DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT HAS THE RECALLED DEFECT. *TR
ON 05/06/14 VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AT AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE ROLLED THROUGH TWO STOP SIGNS WITH AN INFANT IN THE VEHICLE NEARLY CAUSING TWO SEPARATE ACCIDENTS. BRAKES DID NOT FUNCTION AT ALL EVEN AFTER BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUMPED. WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP A COLLISION OCCURRED WITH A WHITE TAIL DEER DUE TO BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND NO SLOWING OF VEHICLE. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY DISCOVERED AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE BRAKE BOOSTER. CHRYSLER WOULD NOT PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS AND VEHICLE HAVING ONLY 55KMI. ON 8/19/14 CHRYSLER STILL HAS NOT REFUNDED COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL P14 / NHTSA 14V-154 FOR 2011 THROUGH 2014 MODEL YEAR DODGE DURANGO AND JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLES, WHICH WAS SENT IN MAY 2014. RECALL NOTICE STATES REIMBURSEMENT WITHIN 60 DAYS. *TR

THE AIR CONDITIONING PRODUCES COLD AIR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BUT PRODUCES HOT AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE HEATER BEND DOORS ARE BROKEN. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS. MY VEHICLE IS 38 MONTHS OND, 2 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH 30,120 MILES. JEEP REFUSES TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY, AND EVEN DENIES THAT BEND DOOR FAILURES ARE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS, EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET IS FILLED WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE, ETC, AND ESC WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY THE VEHICLE STALLING. THE CONTACT MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND DISCOVERED THAT SMOKE WAS EMITTING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THERE HAD BEEN A FIRE NEAR THE AIR FILTER AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
STARTED THE JEEP UP IN THE MORNING TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND AS I BACKED INTO THE STREET AND TRIED STOPPING, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY STIFF AND THE STOPPING POWER WAS ALMOST NONE. I THEN PUT IT INTO DRIVE TO GO THE 30 YARDS TO THE STOP SIGN IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE AND COULD NOT STOP. I HAD BOTH FEET STOMPING ON THE PEDAL, BUT IT DIDN'T MATTER. I MADE IT TO THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BEFORE I STOPPED. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE JEEP SITS FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AND IS THEN DRIVEN AGAIN. I HAVE FOUND THAT PUMPING THE BRAKES 10-15 TIMES BEFORE PUTTING THE CAR INTO DRIVE ALLEVIATES THE ISSUE FASTER. I AM WORRIED THAT EVENTUALLY THIS WILL HAPPEN EVEN AFTER THE BRAKES ARE 'WARMED UP' WHEN I REALLY NEED THE BRAKES. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE IN FORUMS ONLINE AND IT SEEMS VERY COMMON FOR THE NEW-STYLE GRAND CHEROKEES TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I WENT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THE PART IS OVER $200 WITHOUT INSTALLATION, WHICH IS NOT COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR

EARLIER THIS YEAR I STARTED EXPERIENCING STARTING DIFFICULTIES WITH MY JEEP. WHILE PRESSING THE START BUTTON, THE IGNITION WOULD RUN BUT NOT TURN OVER. EVENTUALLY IT WOULD START. HOWEVER, OVER THE SUMMER THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE AND ON OCCASION THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND WHEN IT DID IT WOULD STALL OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ON 8/23/2014 AND THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY CALLED ME AND SAID I HAD A BAD FUEL PUMP AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A PRICE OF $1,300. WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN THE SHOP, I STARTED DOING AN ONLINE SEARCH OF MY PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM THAT A HUGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WERE HAVING - A BAD TIPM. ON 8/26/2014 I WENT IN TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED ON MY RECEIPT THAT THEY REPLACED THE TIPM AND NOT THE FUEL PUMP. I PRESENTED MY RESEARCH WITH THE SERVICE TECH AND SAID SINCE THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN FLAW WITH THIS VEHICLE, THIS SHOULD EITHER BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. HE SAID THAT HE HAD NO AUTHORITY TO DO THIS AND I WAS FORCED TO PAY $1,233.42 TO RETRIEVE MY VEHICLE. WHILE IT WAS STOPPED WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PETAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND THE JEEP STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. NO BRAKES!!! SHE SAID SHE HEARD A AIR TYPE SOUND WHEN IT HAPPENED. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS ABLE TO COAST SAFELY TO A PARKING SPOT UNTIL I COULD GET THERE. AFTER GETTING IT TO THE DEALER THE CALLED ME AND SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. NO DETAILS WERE GIVEN TO ME OTHER THAN IT FAILED. ALL I CAN SAY IS THANKFULLY IT HAPPENED WHERE IT DID. THERE ARE SO MANY SITUATIONS THAT THIS COULD HAVE COST HER LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S. WHILE DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE HIGHWAY I WAS APPROACHING SLOW TRAFFIC. I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THE BRAKES WERE HARD AND FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE DID SLOW DOWN A LITTLE BIT BUT NOT ENOUGH TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I WAS GOING 55MPH AND THEN TRAFFIC SLOWED TO ABOUT 20-25MPH BUT COULDN'T. I HAD TO VEER OFF INTO THE LEFT LANE TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT WASN'T THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES KICKING IN EITHER. I THE BRAKES WERE JUST FAILING. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT AGAIN THE BRAKES WERE HARD, AS IF THE PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED WITHOUT APPLYING ANY BRAKE. LUCKILY I WAS CAUTIOUS FROM THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT AND WAS APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO JUST BARELY MAKE THE TURN WITHOUT COLLIDING WITH ANOTHER CAR. THANKFULLY THERE WEREN'T ANY PEDESTRIANS CROSSING THE STREET, IN NEW YORK CITY THIS IS A RARITY. AFTER ALL THIS HAPPENED I CHECKED ANY RECALLS WITH MY VEHICLE AND SAW THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL. I CALLED TWO JEEP DEALERS ( BAYSIDE JEEP IN NY AND EAST HILLS JEEP IN NY) AND BOTH GAVE ME A HARD TIME SAYING THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL OUT FOR MY VEHICLE. THEY ARE SAYING MY VIN # DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL AGAINST IT BUT JEEP HASN'T ASSIGNED THE RECALL TO ANY SPECIFIC VIN #S, THEY SAY TO JUST BRING IT IN TO GET CHECKED OUT. THE FIRST OCCASION HAPPENED IN NOVEMBER OF 2013, VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AND LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO PARK AND RE-STARTED WITH NO FURTHER ISSUE. WE DIDN'T REPORT THIS INCIDENT. THE SECOND EVENT HAPPENED ON APRIL 3, 2014, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 40 MPH. AGAIN, WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP SHE PUT IT INTO PARK AND RE-STARTED THE VEHICLE. WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ON APRIL 7 AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR APRIL 12. THE THIRD EVENT OCCURRED THIS MORNING, APRIL 10, 2014. THE VEHICLE SPEED IS DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE BUT MY WIFE WAS SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A 50MPH ROAD. THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES IN THE AREA THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS ACCIDENT, MAINLY A SCHOOL BUS WITH CHILDREN ON BOARD. AGAIN, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUT INTO PARK AND RESTARTED. DIFFICULT TO DO ON THIS BUSY ROAD. I CONTACTED THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP MOVED UP MY APRIL 12 APPOINTMENT TO TODAY. SO FAR, THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN ACCOMMODATING. THEY PLAN TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS CHECKS TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF POWER FAILURE. ALSO, THERE ARE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES PLAGUING THIS VEHICLE (POWER DOOR LOCKS NOT WORKING, DRIVERS SIDE SEAT HEATER NOT WORKING, KEY NOT BEING DETECTED).
