WHEN THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE VEHICLE IS EXITING THE FREEWAY OR WHEN COASTING WITH NO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE STALLS. ENGINE POWER IS LOST, POWER STEERING IS LOST, AND POWER BRAKING IS LOST LEADING TO A SIGNIFICANT INABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS UNABLE TO RESTART UNTIL IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE ROADWAY AND IS PUT INTO PARK. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS BEFORE CHRYSLER EVEN ISSUED A RECALL. CHRYSLER HAS NOW NOTIFIED ME BY MAIL OF A RECALL FOR THE FUEL RELAY WHICH COULD CAUSE A STALL AND CRASH AND HAS RECOMMENDED I TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER FOR REPAIR. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALER, THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT NO PROBLEM CAN BE FOUND AND THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE ISSUE. THE JEEP DEALER HAS NO EVIDENCE SHOWING THEM THAT THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING AS A RESULT OF THE FUEL RELAY EVEN WITH THE RECALL IN EFFECT. THE DEALER HAS ADVISED ME TO PICK UP THE CAR AND WAIT UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE TO FIX THE RECALLED PART. THIS MEANS THEY HAVE ADVISED ME TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THIS POTENTIALLY FATAL FLAW. THIS IS AS OF NOVEMBER 18TH, 2014. CHRYSLER'S RECALL DEPARTMENT HAS ADVISED BY PHONE I DRIVE THE CAR TO ANOTHER JEEP DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF ANOTHER SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THIS RECOMMENDATION PUTS MYSELF AND THE PUBLIC AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THERE HAS BEEN NO TEMPORARY REPAIR SUGGESTED OR A DATE WHEN A PERMANENT FUEL RELAY REPLACEMENT PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. NO ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED OR OFFERED. I AM WITHOUT A MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION WHILE MY VEHICLES IS NOT FUNCTIONING DUE TO SAFETY REASONS. *TR
MY BRAKE BOOSTER HAS A MALFUNCTION CAUSING VACUUM LOSS IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THIS CAUSES DIFFICULTIES IN STOPPING MY CAR. I HAVE READ ABOUT A RECALL PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE SO I CALLED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL ISSUE A RECALL IN MAY AND I SHOULD GO AHEAD AND HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED AT MY DEALERSHIP SINCE THERE'S NO WAY OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP KNOWING IF MY CAR IS INCLUDED. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS NO WAY OF KNOWING IF I WILL BE ABLE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR PAYING FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET. *TR
2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE STRUGGLES TO START. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD CRANK, BUT NOT TURN OVER. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED. WHILE AWAITING THE DEALERS DIAGNOSIS, THE CONSUMER DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THE COMMON CAUSE SEEMED TO BE THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THE DEALER CONFIRMED, THE PROBLEM WAS INDEED THE (TIPM).

THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS ONLY PROVIDING FIVE REPAIR KITS AT A TIME AND PLACED THE CONTACT ON A WAITING LIST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
HI, I AM WRITING TO YOU TODAY BECAUSE MY FAMILY AND I HAD A COUPLE NEAR MISS SITUATIONS IN REGARDS TO MY BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THERE WAS A AUDIBLE HEAVY AIR LEAK FROM THE BROKEN VACUUM SEAL GOING TO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. WITH NO POWER BRAKES I WAS ON THE VERGE OF REAR-ENDING VEHICLES AND EVEN WORSE PEDESTRIANS FOR A COUPLE DAYS UNTIL I COULD GET MY CAR IN FOR SERVICING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A LICENSED MECHANIC PRIOR TO SERVICING AND HE TOLD ME OF A VERY RECENT RECALL THAT WAS JUST GETTING INITIATED BY CHRYSLER IN HOPES OF AVOIDING THIS EXACT SITUATION. RECALL P14. WHEN I BROUGHT MY SUV IN TO GET IT SERVICED THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSIGNED ON BEHAVE OF MY SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER EVEN THOUGH THEY DID AGREE THIS RECALL FITS EXACTLY TO WHAT MY DEFICIENCY IS. I AM GETTING IT REPAIRED AS WE SPEAK BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE OR FOOL AROUND WITH ANYTHING AS VITAL AS MY BRAKING SYSTEM. THEY ARE REPLACING THE ENTIRE BOOSTER AND VACUUM SEAL. THE CONTACT APPLIED FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO ENSURE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE DELAY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DURING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MY BRAKE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS BARELY ANY PRESSURE IN SYSTEM. TOOK TO DEALER AND WAS ADVISED I HAD TO REPLACE MY BRAKE BOOSTER BECAUSE IT FAILED BUT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. *TR
THIS JEEP ENGINE FAILED / STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VEER OFF THE ROAD TWICE ON A TURN, AND ALMOST CAUSE TWO REAR ENDS BY FAILING IN MID TRAFFIC, IN FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, SINCE 2014. THE VEHICLE ENGINE CUTS OUT, WHICH CAUSES THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES TO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON VARIOUS MAIN STREETS, WHEN THIS OCCURRED. NAPERVILLE JEEP DEALERSHIP (WHERE THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED) HAS ALSO MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE PER THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE, HAS WORKED ON THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT BEGAN. THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO US CONFIDENT THE PROBLEM WAS 'RESOLVED' OR NON-EXISTENT. ATTACHED IS THE VEHICLE RECALL AND REPLACEMENT RECORD. FROM ONLINE RESEARCH IT SEEMS THIS HAS OCCURRED TO OTHER JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES BEFORE AND THE TYPICAL SOLUTION IS REPLACING THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM). THIS VEHICLE'S TIPM WAS 'REPAIRED' SEPT 3, 2014. VEHICLE FIRST EXHIBITED A HISSING NOISE WHENEVER THE CAR WAS FIRST STARTED AND BRAKES APPLIED FOR THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF RUNNING. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 10-40 MPH DID THE BRAKES EITHER DELAY OR NOT FULLY RESPOND. ON TWO OCCASIONS THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEN DRIVER WAS FORCED TO STOP SHORT. VERY DANGEROUS AND CONTEMPLATING WHETHER TO CONTACT A DEALERSHIP OR LOCAL MECHANIC. SEEMS LIKE A POPULAR ISSUE BUT LITTLE TO NOTHING DONE BY JEEP. BOUGHT A USED JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2011 W/ 19K MILES ON IT (IT WAS LEASED BEFORE). FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WITH 30K MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WOULD TURN OVER A LITTLE BIT BUT WOULD NOT START. DEALERSHIP SAID FUEL PUMP WAS BAD, RUNNING AFTER VEHICLE TURNED OF THEN DIDN'T GET POWER WHEN TURNING IT ON. DEALERSHIP REPLACED FUEL PUMP, WENT TO PICK IT UP FROM DEALERSHIP AND IT WOULDN'T START. SECOND TRIP (WITHIN 2-3 DAYS) TO DEALERSHIP IT STARTED UP. WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 4-5 WEEKS, THEN SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN. VEHICLE WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START UP, SOUNDED THE EXACT SAME AS THE PRIOR ISSUE. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIPM, CAR WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 12 MONTHS. TWO WEEKS AGO, THE SAME ISSUE CAME ABOUT. CAR TURNING OVER BUT NOT STARTING. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY KEY FOB AND IT WORKED FOR 1 DAY, THEN THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. NOW MY JEEP IS SITTING AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE WIRING TO THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING ANOTHER FUEL PUMP. I HEARD TODAY THAT THEY FUEL PUMP IS REPLACED BUT STILL NOT GETTING POWER TO IT (TIPM PROBLEM AGAIN). CHRYSLER WANTS ME TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE FOR AN OBVIOUSLY FAULTY PART THAT THEY HAVE REPLACED AGAIN. THIS LAST TIME WHEN I BROUGHT MY JEEP TO THE DEALER I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE TO LET ME FATHER HEAR THE NOISE IT WAS MAKING. A DEALERSHIP SERVICE TECHNICIAN WALKED BY HEARING THE NOISE IT MADE AND ASKED, "IS IT A 2011?", I REPLIED, "YES", HE FOLLOWED UP BY SAYING THAT MODEL AND YEAR HAS HAD A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE TIPM, WHICH FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF THE CAR WERE MOVING AND IT WENT OUT. YOU WOULD BE LEFT WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. CHRYSLER HAS MADE A PRODUCT THAT IS FAULTY AND REALIZES IT, YET THEY STILL CHARGE CUSTOMERS TO REPLACE THE FAULTY PARTS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN OUTERBANKS, NC. THE VEHICLE DECIDED TO SHUT THE 4X4 SYSTEM OFF AND LOWER SUSPENSION COMPLETELY, ALL WHILE DRIVING. MY NEW BORN SON, WIFE AND 4YR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE AND WE ARE STRANDED. PAID FOR TOWING AND AFTER TOWED THE VEHICLE GOES BACK TO NORMAL WITH NO MAINTENANCE. UPON RETURNING HOME VEHICLE RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE IN MOTION, WILL NOT START OR FUEL PUMP RANDOMLY RUNS AND NOW WAY TO SHUT OFF. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I AM FINDING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TIPM IN THESE VEHICLES. YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO GET THE PARTS AS THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO THE MANUFACTURER. WHO DO WE COMPLAIN TO IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE MY CHILDREN ARE IN THE CAR AND THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS LIKE THIS WILL BE THE ONLY WAY SOMETHING IS GOING TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE BUT DECIDED TO REPLACE THE SEALS FOR THE AIR CONDITIONER, SUN ROOF, DOORS, AND THE TRUCK LID. THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,200. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
REPORTED BY EFI GLOBAL FIRE FORENSICS INVESTIGATOR ON BEHALF OF VEHICLE CONSUMER/OWNER. 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4 WAS DRIVEN AND PARKED IN GARAGE AT APPROXIMATELY 6:30 P.M.. GARAGE WAS FULLY INVOLVED IN FIRE AT APPROXIMATELY 4:00 A.M. THE FOLLOWING MORNING. UPON FIRE DISCOVERY, FIRE WAS VENTING THROUGH DOUBLE CAR GARAGE ROOF. INVESTIGATION HAS PLACED THE FIRE ORIGIN AT THE 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 4X4 VEHICLE. INVESTIGATION IS CONTINUING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE WIRELESS IGNITION CONTROL MODULE BUT THE FAILURE LATER RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE, TRAC OFF AND THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE GAUGES WOULD INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY RANDOM NUMBERS. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY HUSBAND WAS IN AN ACCIDENT ON A SUNNY MORNING WITH NO PRECIPITATION OR ICE INVOLVED WHILE DRIVING IN A 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. HE WAS NOT SPEEDING OR FOUND RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ACCIDENT. A CHRYSLER AUTHORIZED BODY SHOP AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALED THE CAR BASED ON THE STEERING COLUMN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THE AIRBAGS, AS WELL AS THE SEAT BELTS - WHICH WE FOUND STRANGE SINCE WE DROVE THE CAR FROM THE ACCIDENT. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW THAT HE HAS BEEN DEALING WITH THE AFTERMATH OF THIS ACCIDENT - A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY FROM THIS SMALL COLLISION, STILL OUT TO WORK, HAVING TROUBLE FUNCTIONING, AND TRYING TO GET SOME ANSWERS AS TO HOW AN AIRBAG THAT DEPLOYED AT A SPEED OF 30 MPH OR LESS CAN INJURE SOMEONE SO MUCH. FCA (WHICH IS NOW CHRYSLER) IS NOT GIVING US ANY STRAIGHT ANSWERS AS TO WHETHER THIS CASE IS INVOLVED WITH THE TANAKA AIRBAG RECALL SITUATION. BASED ON THEIR ACTIONS WE FEEL THAT FCA DOESN'T WANT TO PAY FOR/TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE VEHICLES THAT THEY HAVE INHERITED FROM CHRYSLER. THROUGH OUR DEALINGS WITH FCA WE ARE LEARNING THAT THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE GOING TO DO. AS I WAS DRIVING LESS THAN A MILE TO WORK ON A VERY COLD NEW JERSEY MORNING MY BRAKES FELT UNUSUALLY HARD AND HIGH. AS I PULLED INTO THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT, WHERE I WORK, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN ON THE DECLINE OF THE ROAD AND THEY WOULD NOT GO DOWN, THEY WENT DOWN ONLY ABOUT A CENTIMETER OR TWO, AND I JUST KEPT PRESSING THEM. AGAIN THEY FELT EXTREMELY HARD AND HIGH. THERE WAS A SCHOOL BUS FULL OF CHILDREN IN FRONT OF ME AND I JUST PRAYED I WOULD NOT REAR END THEM. THANK GOD I WAS ONLY DOING 15 MPH....IF ANY FASTER IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A NIGHTMARE!!!!! I CALLED MY DEALER AND THEY SAID DO NOT DRIVE IT, HAVE IT TOWED HERE. I DID HAVE IT TOWED THAT DAY AND TODAY I WAS INFORMED I NEED A BRAKE BOOSTER LIKE MANY OTHER PEOPLE. THEY ARE BACK ORDERED AND COULD TAKE 3, YES THREE WEEKS BECAUSE OF THE HUGE DEMAND. ON 2/26, I EXPERIENCED A BRAKE FAILURE IN MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT WAS VERY STIFF, AND I COULD NOT STOP MY VEHICLE AS QUICKLY AS I COULD BEFORE. THE PEDAL ONLY WENT HALFWAY TO THE NORMAL DEPRESSED POSITION. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP, AND I HAD TO COAST TO A STOP. I WAS TOLD ON SATURDAY (3/1) THAT THE PART WOULD ARRIVE AT THE DEALERSHIP ON TUESDAY (3/4). I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP TODAY, AND THERE IS NOW NO ETA FOR THE PART (THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER). UPON FURTHER SEARCHING ONLINE, I'VE BECOME AWARE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2011/2012 GRAND CHEROKEES AND DODGE DURANGOS. APPARENTLY, THE DIAPHRAGM IN THE BOOSTER CANNOT WITHSTAND THE COLDER TEMPERATURES THAT WE'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING RECENTLY IN THE NORTHEAST, AND ALLOW MOISTURE TO GET INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM, CAUSING FREEZING. WAS DRIVING MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND BRAKES FAILED HAD TO SWERVE OFF ROAD UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO GAS STATION. MECHANIC DETERMINED IT WAS THE BOOSTER BRAKE ASSIST. HE CALLED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS ON BACKORDER AND COULD BE SEVERAL MONTHS BEFORE YOU GET THE PART. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ACTED LIKE THERE WASN'T AN ISSUE WITH THIS PART AND THEY WOULD EXPEDITE ONE TO THE DEALERSHIP. MY MECHANIC WAS ON PHONE WITH DEALERSHIP WHILE I HAD CHRYSLER CORP. ON PHONE. THE DEALERSHIP LAUGHED AND SAID YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET PART EXPEDITED AS THEY ARE IN SAME SITUATION WITH SEVERAL CARS THEMSELVES. MY FAMILY WAS INCONVENIENCED SINCE THEY HAD TO DRIVE A TOTAL OF 4 HRS. TO COME PICK ME UP. I'VE HAD NO TRANSPORTATION FOR 3 WEEKS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES ASKING WHEN MY VEHICLE WOULD BE READY. ON FEB.19, THEY SAID THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS ON BACK ORDER AND NO ETA. I CALLED MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR THE PART. JEEP IS NO LONGER MANUFACTURING THE BRAKE BOOSTER, WHICH IS A RECALL, AND NO ONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IN THE PROCESS OF COMPLETING A THOROUGH INSPECTION, I DETECTED A HISSING SOUND WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL. SUSPECTING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE VACUUM BOOSTER, I CALLED SEVERAL PARTS STORES IN ATTEMPT TO FIND A REPLACEMENT UNIT ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT NO ONE HAD ACCESS TO THE PART AND THEY WERE ON INDEFINITE BACKORDER. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE ONLINE RESEARCH, I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT THERE APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP VACUUM BOOSTERS RESULTING IN A NATIONAL SHORTAGE OF REPLACEMENT PARTS. BASED UPON THE REPORTS BY OTHERS, IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE VACUUM BOOSTER WHICH IS EXACERBATED DURING COLD PERIODS. IT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE NHTSA IS COMPLETING AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE PROBLEM. IN SHORT, I AM BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE. THE BRAKE BOOSTER ON THIS VEHICLE FAILED CAUSING THE BRAKES TO BE NEARLY NONFUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE COULD BE BROUGHT TO A STOP BUT ONLY WITH BOTH FEET ON THE PEDAL PUSHING AS HARD AS YOU CAN. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT USED TO COMMUTE ABOUT 40 MILES TO AND FROM WORK ON RURAL ROADS. SO VERY LITTLE BREAKING IS NEEDED. THE BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH FAILED WAS BACK ORDERED FOR 2 TO 3 MONTHS AND I WAS NUMBER 59 IN LINE FOR ONE. MY DEALER HAD TO USE A BOOSTER FROM A SALVAGE YARD TO GET ME BACK ON THE ROAD. THE MASTER CYLINDER ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF AN O RING FAILURE WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE MASTER CYLINDER. WE FOUND THAT SOMETIMES WE CAN PUSH THE PANIC BUTTON ON AND OFF AND THEN TRY STARTING AGAIN AND THE ENGINE WILL START. WE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE KEYLESS DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. IT APPEARS TO BE THE TIPM. AFTER READING ALL THE POST ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE IT WOULD APPEAR CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT, HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL YET. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, I LOST TOTAL USE OF MY BRAKES. MY CAR VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. THE LOSS OF THE BRAKES WAS SUDDEN AND TOTALLY UNEXPECTED, LEAVING ME IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION. WHEN I WAS ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALER TO BE FIXED, I WAS INFORMED THERE WERE NO JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BRAKE BOOSTERS AVAILABLE THROUGH ANY SUPPLIERS IN THE UNITED STATES. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED, ALONG WITH THE LACK OF AVAILABLE PARTS AFTER THE FACT, MEANS THAT THIS ISSUE MAY BE OCCURRING FREQUENTLY AND IS PUTTING INDIVIDUALS IN DANGER. *TR
MY 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED. I AM GETTING A "HISSING" NOISE FROM THE BOOSTER AND MY BRAKING POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED. THE ISSUE STARTED DURING A REAL COLD SNAP IN THE NORTHEAST... NOT SURE IF THE DEFECT IS RELATED TO THIS COLD WEATHER OR NOT. AFTER CALLING MY DEALERSHIP, IT APPEARS THAT THE BOOSTERS ARE ON BACKORDER FROM AN OVERWHELMING NEED TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER DID NOT EXPECT TO RECEIVE ENOUGH PARTS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT WOULD NOT START. REQUIRED REPEATED TRIES AND WOULD THEN START. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE FEBRUARY. SEEMS TO OCCUR AFTER CAR HAS BEEN SITTING FOR A FEW DAYS. RADIO AND AC HAVE ALSO HAVE SOME UNEXPLAINED BEHAVIORS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED. HAVE NOW LEARNED THROUGH NUMEROUS ONLINE COMPLAINTS THAT TIPM MAY VERY WELL BE THE CULPRIT. BRAKE FAILURE IN COLD WEATHER DUE TO DEFECTIVE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. *TR
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE TIPM'S UNIT. IT FIRST CAME UP A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN APRIL 2013. THE UNIT WAS FLASHED AND THE PROBLEM "FIXED" UNDER WARRANTY. THIS JANUARY IT IS NOW NOT ONLY TAKING 2-10 ATTEMPTS TO START, MY GAS MILEAGE HAS SEVERELY DECREASED AND THERE IS A FUNNY ODOR ONCE THE CAR IS STARTED. I CANNOT GO TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MY CURRENT TOWN AS THERE ARE OVERLY INNONDATED WITH WORK TRUCKS FOR THE OIL FIELD SO I AM FORCED TO TAKE MY CAR TO ABILENE WHICH IS AN 85 MILE TRIP EACH WAY TO HAVE ANY WORK DONE ON IT. I WORK FOR A NON PROFIT IN MY TOWN AND THEREFORE DRIVE AROUND TO NOT SO SAFE PLACES DAILY AND HATE BEING STUCK WITH A CAR THAT WONT START. THIS POSSIBLE COULD CORRELATE TO THE ISSUES WITH MY MOTOR IN THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED IN DECEMBER OF 2013 THAT LUCKILY WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY SINCE IT HAD BEEN AN ISSUE AS WELL BEFORE THE WARRANTY MILEAGE ENDED. *TR

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND UNWILLING TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,225. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.

I WAS DRIVING ON 1/22/14 AND MY BRAKES WERE MAKING A LEAKING AIR SOUND WHEN ABRUPTLY IT STOPPED BRAKING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN BUT IT TOOK ALOT LONGER TO FULLY STOP. I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND ALMOST HIT A CAR BECAUSE I HAD NOT FULLY STOPPED BEFORE MY RED LIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR SERVICE SLOWLY TO BAY STATE JEEP IN NEWTON, MA, WHICH THEY CALLED ME PRETTY QUICKLY TO TELL ME THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER WAS BROKEN AND IT WAS ON BACKORDER. ITS 7 DAYS PAST AND THEY ARE STILL TELLING ME CHRYSLER HAS A NEGATIVE QUANTITY OF 89 NATIONWIDE ON BACKORDER. *TR
