RIGHT FRONT HEADLAMP MELTED INTERNALLY DUE TO OVERHEATING DAMAGING THE WIRING AND THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY, AND NOW THE TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK. TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US THAT IN ORDER TO FIX IT, THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY NEED TO BE REPLACED . THEY ESTIMATED IT IN $1200 AND TOLD ME THAT THE WARRANTY WONT COVER IT. THE CAR JUST HAVE 16749 MILES.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAD THE RECOMMENDED RECALL REPAIR FOR THE SUN VISOR COMPLETED ON 5/19/2105. WHILE DRIVING THE AREA ABOVE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR BEGAN TO EMIT SMOKE AND WITHIN ABOUT 30 SECONDS FLAMES ERUPTED FROM THE SAME AREA. THE FLAMES QUICKLY SPREAD TOWARDS THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR AS I FRANTICALLY LOOKED FOR A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. IT WAS 5:45AM ON A DARK COUNTRY ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED 911. THE FLAMES CONTINUED FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 15 MINUTES. WHEN FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED THEY HAD DIFFICULTY STOPPING THE BURNING THOUGH IT WAS SMALL BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT ACCESS THE BATTERY FOR THE VEHICLE (IT IS APPARENTLY LOCATED UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND UNACCESSIBLE OTHER THAN FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE.) FIREFIGHTERS HAD TO COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO THE SUN VISORS TO STOP THE BURNING. THEY IDENTIFIED A SCREW AND WIRE THAT WERE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. IT WAS NOT UNTIL I RETURNED HOME AND RESEARCHED THE RECALL THAT I DISCOVERED THAT THE SCREW AND WIRE ASSEMBLY IS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRES. THIS RECALL REPAIR OBVIOUSLY IS NOT A RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. HAD THE FLAMES SPREAD TO THE DRIVER SIDE AREA I WOULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR POSSIBLE KILLED. HAD I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE THEY COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED ALSO!!
BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THEN STARTING SMELLING SMOKE SO PULLED OVER SHUT CAR OFF. ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING SO CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE. CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. TOLD ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS A RECALL NUMBER IS P60 ON THIS 160-AMP ALTERNATOR FOR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2011- 2014 BUT FOR SOME REASON THAT NO ONE CAN TRULY EXPLAIN MY CAR IS NOT COVERED (2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE). IT IS THE SAME EXACT ALTERNATOR IN MY CAR AS THE RECALLED ALTERNATOR.
FAILED TO START UNLESS YOU TRIED SEVERAL TIMES, IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THE FIX DID NOT LAST, AS I HAVE HAD IT DONE TWICE AND IT IS DOING IT AGAIN. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY HAVE NOT MADE A WORKABLE FIX FOR IT. IT, HOWEVER HAS ALWAYS BEEN PARKED WHEN THIS HAPPENS THEY SAID IT COULD STALL WHILE DRIVING.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME OUR HEADLIGHTS HAVE BURNED OUT. ALSO THE TAIL LIGHT. THE CAR ISN'T THAT OLD AND IS NOT DRIVEN BUT A FEW MILES A YEAR NOW WE HAVE RETIRED. THE IGNITION AT DIFFERENT TIME WILL NOT START IT WILL JUST KEEPS TURNING LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING GAS. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION AT THE DEALERS WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY 35,000 MILES BUT THEY SAID WE DIDN'T HAVE OUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE TOTALLY, WELL IT STILL DOES IT AT 48,000 MILES AND WE DO HAVE OUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE; IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERYTIME, BUT IT DOES IT ALEAST ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. WE ARE JUST SITTING IN THE CAR READY TO GO SOMEWHERE' WE REALIZE THE WARRANITY IS OUT BUT WHEN WE TOLD THEM IT WASN'T. THE FIRST HEADLIGHT WENT OUT THE FIRST 15,000 MILES. WE HAVE OWNED CARS FOR 10 YEARS AND LIGHTS HAVE NEVER GONE OUT. CAN YOU HELP US WITH THESE PROBLEMS?

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE DEALER COMPLETED THE BRAKE BOOSTER INSPECTION AND I NSERTED A SHIELD FOR THE BRAKE BOOSTERS RECALL IN DECEMBER OF 14. AFTER THAT DATE, THE BRAKES WERE NOT STOPPING THE VEHICLE DURING HARD STOPS BECAUSE PROPER BRAKE PRESSURE WAS NOT PRESENT. SEPTEMBER 8 2015 THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE BOOSTER BECAUSE IT WAS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. THE BRAKE BOOSTER SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON THE INITIAL VISIT AS I WAS DRIVING AROUND WITH BRAKES THAT WERE NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. NORMAL DRIVING I COULD NOT NOTICE THE DIFFERENCE BUT EMERGENCY STOPS AND STOPPING WHILE TOWING WAS DANGEROUS.
THERE WAS A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND A BURNING SMELL. TOOK THE CAR INTO BE REPAIRED AND THEY INFORMED ME THE CAR NEEDED AN ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT. PER THE 10/8/14 NHTSA RECALL OF CERTAIN MODELS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2011-2014, I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED THAT MY CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED FOR THE SAME REPAIR, BUT I AM BEING TOLD I AM NOT.
ON 9/5/15, I APPLIED MY BRAKES AS I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. INITIALLY I FELT THE BRAKES GRAB BUT THEN THE BRAKES GAVE OUT CAUSING ME TO SWERVE TO AVOID A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THEN USING THE OTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC TO FINALLY GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BY APPLYING MY EMERGENCY BRAKE. OBVIOUSLY, QUITE A HARROWING SITUATION FOR MYSELF IN ADDITION TO THE OTHER VEHICLES IN MY PATH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT AND EVEN MORE IMPORTANT, NO INJURIES. WESTBURY JEEP IN NY (WHERE I SERVICE MY VEHICLE) TOLD ME THAT THE CAUSE WAS A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. THAT TRIGGERED QUESTIONS IN MY MIND AS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 I HAD RECALL P14 SERVICED. IT SEEMS THAT A SHIELD HAD BEEN INSTALLED BUT THAT THE BOOSTER ITSELF HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED. WHY WASNT THE BOOSTER CHANGED AT THAT TIME? I NOW HAVE MY DOUBTS THAT THIS WAS PROPERLY AND ADEQUATELY TAKEN CARE OF, PUTTING MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF OTHERS IN DANGER. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM FURTHER, IVE COME ACROSS SEVERAL OTHER CASES MIRRORING MINEQUITE ALARMING.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ABOVE VEHICLE. WHEN I BROUGHT IT TO SEAVIEW JEEP IN OCEAN NJ I WAS ADVISED THAT THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT IS SEPTEMBER 15. MY CONCERN IS THAT YOUR RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT "AN INTERMITTENT OR FAILED FUEL PUMP RELAY COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING." WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER (800-992-1997) I WAS ADVISED BY THE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE THAT THE CAR WAS "MORE LIKELY NOT TO START" AND "YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE SERVICE SCHEDULE OF THE DEALERSHIP". MY QUESTION/CONCERN/COMPLAINT IS THAT HOW CAN YOU SEND OUT A RECALL THAT CLEARLY STATES THE ENGINE COULD STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING YET MAKE SOMEONE WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR THE APPOINTMENT. ALTERNATOR NEEDED REPLACEMENT WAS NOT PART OF RECALL ON OTHER GRAND CHEROKEE MODELS. DID HAVE WARNING SO CAR WAS LEFT IN A SAFE PLACE BEFORE IT WOULD STALL.

MY LEATHER DASH BOARD STARTED BUBBLING AND HAS NOW COMPLETELY PEELED AND SHRIVELED UP, ALSO MY CARBON FIBER DOOR AND DASH TRIM HAS FALLEN OFF.

THIS ENGINE IN THIS VEHICLE MISSES FROM TIME TO TIME. I'VE TOLD MY DEALER EACH OF THE LAST 3 TIMES I BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE OR FOR RECALLS. THEY HAVE RESET THE COMPUTER AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AND SAY THAT IF RUNS FINE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE ON A LONGER TRIP AND IT STARTED MISSING DURING A LATE NIGHT DRIVE TO VIRGINIA. THE MISSING WAS SO BAD I WAS LOOSING POWER. I AM AWARE OF THE FUEL PUMP RECALL THAT WENT OUT ON THIS VEHICLE IN APRIL, BUT ACCORDING TO MY DEALER THE PARTS ARE JUST BECOMING AVAILABLE NOW. I AM ON A WAIT LIST WITH NO DEFINITE DATE TO WHEN MY VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH I BELIEVE I HAVE SYMPTOMS OF A FUEL PUMP FAILURE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND EVEN MORE AFRAID TO HAVE MY CHILDREN OR MY WIFE DRIVE IT. I AM AMAZED THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD I BELIEVE 5 RECALLS AND STILL FIAT CHRYSLER GETS SO MUCH TIME TO REACT AND REPAIR WHAT APPEARS TO BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I WOULD HAVE HOPED OUR GOVERNMENT WOULD HAVE HELD THE NEW ITALIAN/FIAT OWNERS OF CHRYSLER TO A HIRING STANDARD. FIATS REPUTATION FOR LOW QUALITY CARS WAS SO BAD THAT THEY HAD TO PULL OUR OF THE US AND NOW THEY ARE BACK. WHY ARE THEY GETTING AWAY WITH SELLING CARS WITH DEFECTS THAT ARE POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS AND THEN ALLOWED TO HAVE MONTHS AND MONTHS TO RECALL AND REPAIR THEM?

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STARTED PULSATING AND THEN TURNED OFF. WOULD THEN NOT START. ENDED UP BEING A TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILURE WHICH SHUT POWER OFF TO THE FUEL PUMP. CHRYSLER HAS ALREADY ISSUED A RECALL BUT THEIR "FIX" DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ADEQUATE. INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE TIPM WITH AN IMPROVED DESIGN, THEY HAVE DEVELOPED A "BAND-AID" FIX OF BYPASSING THE INTERNAL TIPM RELAY.

THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT WITH NO SOLUTION. THE DEALER HAS PERFORMED ALL RECALLS AND SOFTWARE UPDATES, BUT THESE HAVE NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS STATED THAT THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, SO THEREFORE CANNOT FIX IT. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE WAS CONTACTED AND A CASE MANAGER WAS ASSIGNED TO THE CASE. THE CASE MANAGER INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIP TO DRIVE THE CAR, WHICH THEY HAD DONE BEFORE, TO TRY TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO SO AND THE CASE MANAGER HAS STATED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE IF THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE REPLICATED. WHEN ASKED WHAT TO DO IN THE EVENT THE VEHICLE CAUSES AN ACCIDENT, THE CASE MANAGER STATED TO CONTACT HIM AT THAT POINT AND HE WILL TAKE THE CASE "TO THE NEXT LEVEL". IN SHORT, THE CAR MUST BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE CHRYSLER IS WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. I RECEIVED APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS AGO AN IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY, THE CODE WAS R09 / NHTSA 14V-115, BUT THE RECALL NOTICE INDICATED THE REPAIR PART WAS NOT THEN AVAILABLE AND A FOLLOW-UP NOTICE WOULD BE SENT WHEN IT WAS. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A FOLLOW-UP NOTICE SAYING THE PART IS AVAILABLE, AND EVERY TIME I CALL THE DEALER THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THE PART AND I SHOULD CALL BACK. THE RECALL NOTICE SAYS THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY "COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING." I DON'T KNOW IF IT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR OR LET MY WIFE OR KIDS DRIVE IT. I WANT IT TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY OR TO DISCUSS OTHER OPTIONS. JEEP VISOR RECALL- FIRE INSIDE MY JEEP: I HAD THE JEEP VISOR RECALL COMPLETED IN JANUARY 2015, TOOK MY JEEP INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN MAY/JUNE COMPLAINING OF A BURING SMELL TWICE. THEY SAID I WAS ON THE LIST FOR THE SECOND RECALL PARTS TO COME IN AND THEY WOULD CALL ME. THEY SAID THEY INSPECTED MY JEEP AND DIDNT SEE ANYTHING WRONG AND WISHED ME THE BEST (DEPSITE MY DOME LIGHTS BEING DIM AND PASSENGER LIGHT DOCUMENTED BEING COMPLETLY OUT). THERE IS/HAS BEEN CONTINUED ISSUE WITH THE 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE NOT STARTING AND/OR IGNITION GETTING STUCK IN STARTING MODE. WHEN THE IGNITION IS EVIDENTLY STARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMTPS THE SPEED CONTROL EXCELLS TO MAXED RATE INCLUDING RPM RATE WHILE IN PARKED STATE OR DRIVING AND UPON BREAKING IT DID NOT STOP THE INCREASED SPEED UNTIL 1 MINUTE OR MORE LATER (VERY SCRARY).
