I RETURNED MY SINGLE AXEL MOTORCYCLE TRAILER TO THE GRAVEL STORAGE LOT AND BACKED IT INTO IT'S SPACE. WITH THE ENGINE IDLING I PUT IT IN PARK, EXITED THE VEHICLE AND DISCONNECTED THE TRAILER FROM THE VEHICLE. I GOT BACK INTO THE VEHICLE TO IDLE IT FORWARD A COUPLE FEET TO ALLOW CLEARANCE FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE TRAILER HITCH FROM THE RECEIVER. WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE I SHIFTED FROM PARK TO DRIVE. IMMEDIATELY UPON BEING PUT IN DRIVE THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO OVER 5,000 RPMS AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. I TRIED TO SHIFT BACK INTO PARK BUT HIT REVERSE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH BACKWARDS. I CONTINUED TO PUSH THE TRANSMISSION FORWARD INTO PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. ALL THIS OCCURRED WITH MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE. THE INCIDENT LASTED ABOUT THREE OR FOUR SECONDS. THE REAR TIRES SPUN IN THE GRAVEL CREATING 3 INCH DEEP DIVOTS. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A 5.7L ENGINE. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO EXPLODE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY A CAUSE.

THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING IMPROPERLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,695.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER, AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WITH THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

RELUCTANT TO DRIVE VEHICLE THAT "MIGHT CRASH W/O WARNING. PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. HAVE EFFECTIVELY LOST USE OF VEHICLE FOR 10 WEEKS. JEEP SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE LOANER OR PAY FOR COMPARABLE RENTAL UNTIL PARTS ARE AVAILABLE AND REPAIR IS MADE. WHILE TURNING AT AN INTERSECTION THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. THE ENGINE DIED, POWER STEERING, POWER BRAKING STOPPED WORKED. I NEARLY CRASH INTO THE LIGHT POLE AT THE INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STARTED ONCE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FIRESTONE CAR CARE CENTER TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THE TESTS FOUND NO ISSUES. WHEN I REACHED MY HOME THAT AFTERNOON THE SAFETY RECALL WAS IN MY MAIL BOX. I TOOK THE JEEP TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER TO FIND THAT JEEP DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN PLACE TO FIX THE ISSUE. NOW I HAVE A USELESS AND UNSAFE VEHICLE. PLEASE ADVISE AS TO WHAT THE NHTSA CAN TO TO PROMPT THE COMPANY TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I WAS LUCK TO NOT HIT ANYONE OR ANYTHING BUT, I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGWAY.

ON APRIL 27, 2015 I RECEIVED IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL #R09/NHTSA 14V-115 STATING THAT MY VEHICLE HAD A DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP RELAY WHICH COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. IN OTHER WORDS A SERIOUS POSSIBLY DEADLY CRASH COULD OCCUR FOLLOWING THE SUDDEN SHUT DOWN OF THE ENGINE AND POWER SYSTEMS. TO DATE, JEEP/CHRYSLER/FCA REPEATEDLY HAS TOLD ME THERE ARE NO PARTS TO REPAIR THE DEFECT AND NO PROJECTED DATE FOR REPAIRS.THE DEALER WILL NOT PROVIDE A SAFE LOANER VEHICLE IN THE INTERIM. SO, I DRIVE A DEADLY VEHICLE (DEADLY FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS) FOR SOME INDETERMINATE PERIOD OF TIME. IF THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AS IT IS REPORTED TO BE, IT SHOULD BE PARKED AND THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER SHOULD PROVIDE AN IMMEDIATE FIX OR AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE. THIS SITUATION IS ABSURD. HAVE WE NOT LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THE GM IGNITION SWITCH SITUATION? APPARENTLY NOT.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLER, ATF (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID) NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THERE WERE MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE, CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,705. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THERE IS NO INCIDENT TO REPORT BUT A PROBLEM GETTING MY RECALL OF THE ALTERNATOR SEEN TO. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY DEALER, RT 46 CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, WELL OVER A MONTH AGO AND RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE DAY BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT STATING THE PART WAS NOT IN, THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE IN AND THERE IS NO OPTION TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST TO BE CALLED WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS TO ME IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE SENT A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THIS TREATMENT BY THE DEALER. DO YOU HAVE ANY SOLUTION TO OFFER ME TO GET THIS RECALL TENDED TO?
