OVER THE LAST YEAR, THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS WITH LUG NUTS COMING LOOSE WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSING LOSS IF THE LUG NUT AND TIRE WOBBLING (NOISE). ON 11/09/14, I WAS PARKING MY VEHICLE DRIVING UNDER 5 MPH AND HEARD A LOUD POP. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, I GOT OUT AND LOOKED BY MY DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE AND SEE THAT LUG NUT AND WHEEL STUD BROKE OFF. I AM SCHEDULED TO SEE THE DEALER TOMORROW FOR A REVIEW OF THE ISSUE AND LOOK FOR OTHER DAMAGE. THE ONGOING ISSUE OF LOOSE LUG NUTS IS A GREAT CONCERN AND MAKES ME WONDER IF THERE IS A BIGGER ISSUE WITH FAULTY STUDS OR WHEEL BEARINGS. *TR
A FEW MONTHS AGO THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY BRAKE BOOSTER. I HAD BEEN ON THE WAITING LIST FOR 3 MONTHS WAITING FOR THIS PART. I WAS ASSURED THAT MY JEEP WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. ON FRIDAY NOV 7TH MY BRAKES WENT OUT AND I HAD TO PUSH REALLY HARD ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP USING BOTH OF MY FEET. LUCKILY I DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, WHICH COULD HAVE KILLED MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER WITH ALL THESE RECALLS. I HAD TO USE MY TRIPLE A AND HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP WAS NICE ENOUGH TO GIVE ME A RENTAL, I THINK THAT I NEED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR USING MY TRIPLE A. AFTER I PAY THIS JEEP OFF I WILL NOT BE BUYING NOTHING MADE BY CHRYSLER AND WILL TRADE IT IN. IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO BE ON A WAITING LIST FOR 3 MONTHS WAITING FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A VITAL IMPORTANCE TO MY SAFETY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V391000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN I NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE AIR SYSTEM. SOMEONE THEN EXITED MY VEHICLE AND THE SMOKE BILLOWED AND I NOTICED FIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR AREA. I PULLED MY VEHICLE OVER AND UPON TRYING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, NOTED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM BOTH SIDES NEAR THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS AND THROUGHOUT THE CAR. THE FIRE WAS CONTAINED MOSTLY TO THE PASSENGER SIDE, INTERIOR, BUT ALSO WENT THROUGH THE UPPER METAL ROOF AND WAS SMOKING EXTERIOR AND CAUSING THE PAINT TO BUBBLE AND CRACK OPEN. FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND NO INJURIES. MOST OF THE DAMAGE IS ON THE PASSENGER INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR, BUT OTHER UNKNOWN DAMAGE AND WHITE DUST WAS SEEN NEAR THE AIRBAG AREAS TOO. SIDENOTE - THE CURRENT RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR FOR THIS VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP 3 WEEKS AGO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 25 MPH, I HEARD A VIBRATING NOISE, SMELLED AND SAW AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I DROVE DIRECTLY HOME AS THE BATTERY/ELECTRICAL LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE STOPPED, I OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND SMOKE POURING FROM THE ALTERNATOR AREA. I AM GUESSING THE THIS MAY INVOLVE THE CURRENT CAMPAIGN "P60" AND/OR RECALL NUMBER 14V-634. THE SUV CURRENTLY CANNOT BE SAFELY DRIVEN. *TR

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
THE ISSUE DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V104000 HAS BEEN EXPERIENCED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST 18 MONTHS. HOWEVER, MY VIN DOES NOT INDICATE THAT MY VEHICLE IS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL. I BELIEVE THE INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO DETERMINE IF A BROADER SET OF VEHICLES IS SUBJECT TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A BUILDING AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,183.
ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE CAUSING A NEAR-ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED SHORTLY THEREAFTER, BUT AFTER RETURNING HOME AND TURNING OFF VEHICLE, FUEL PUMP CONTINUED TO RUN. THE FOLLOWING MORNING THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO CHRYSLER/JEEP DEALERSHIP. DEALER REPAIR INVOLVED REPLACING A DEFECTIVE "TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE" AT A COST TO ME, THE OWNER, OF $1,200. THIS INCIDENT VERY CLOSELY MIRRORS MEDIA REPORTS IN LATE SEPTEMBER, 2014, DETAILING SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. IN AT LEAST ONE REPORT (CBS-DETROIT; SEPT. 20, 2014; "CHRYSLER RECALLS NEARLY 189,000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES, DODGE DURANGOS") CHRYSLER CLAIMS THEIR PENDING RECALL WILL COVER SUV'S BUILT FROM JAN. 25, 2010 THROUGH JULY 20, 2011. MY VEHICLE, EXHIBITING THE EXACT SAME MALFUNCTIONS, WAS MANUFACTURED IN NOVEMBER, 2011. CLEARLY THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO CAPTURE MORE VEHICLES WITH FAULTY POWER MODULES. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT BEHIND A VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE ROAD WAS LEVEL WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN INCHING FORWARD AND I KEPT TRYING TO PUMP THE BRAKES. I WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DUE AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I LATER REGAINED BRAKE PRESSURE AND PROMPTLY REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE BRAKE RECALL. I WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT MY BRAKE BOOSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED AND LATER TOLD THAT IT JUST NEEDED THE PROTECTIVE BRAKE BOOSTER SHIELD. CHRYSLER'S SOLUTION WAS TO HAVE A REP FROM ENGINEERING ANALYSIS CONDUCT TESTS ON MY VEHICLES BRAKE SYSTEM. ON 5 NOVEMBER 2014, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER ADVISING ME THAT THE INSPECTOR FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKE SYSTEM. THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I FEAR THAT I AM AT RISK OF MY BRAKE SYSTEM FAILING AGAIN! THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL HAD I BEEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY TRAVELING AT 55 MPH! *TR
I HAVE HAD REPAIR AFTER REPAIR DONE AND .SPENT OVER 900 JUST IN REPAIRS AND I HAVE THE RECEIPTS . I WOULD LIKE TO GET A RESOLUTION. MY TOP VEHICLE CEILING WAS BURNT FROM THE RECALL # 105129 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WIRING LAMP. I NEED A RESOLUTION I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR ANY MORE REPAIRS. WHILE REVERSING FROM A DRIVEWAY WITH AN INCLINE BRAKES WERE NOT RESPONSIVE. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT AGAINST CHRYSLER FOR NOT SUPPLYING THE PARTS TO DEALERSHIPS/CAR OWNERS FOR ALL RECALLS (P14,P36, IMPENDING ALTERNATOR RECALL, ETC). THESE RECALLS IN MY OPINION ARE ALL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ENDANGER THE GENERAL PUBLIC ALONG WITH THE OWNER OF THESE VEHICLES. P-36 VANITY LIGHT CATCH FIRE, P-14 BREAK FAILURE, IMPENDING ALTERNATOR - CAR LOSES POWER UNEXPECTEDLY. I WILL ALSO MENTION OUR WARRANTY PERIODS HAVE BEEN EXTENDED FOR 5 ADDITIONAL YRS AND 50,000 MILES DUE TO POSSIBLE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD FAILURES. SHAME ON CHRYSLER FOR NOT SUPPLYING PARTS AND MAKING THE DEALERSHIPS THE MIDDLE MEN WHO ALSO DONT HELP THE CUSTOMERS AND POINT BACK AT YOU. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE MINOR ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND RETURNED FOR REPAIR AS MANY AS 3 TIMES TO GET THEM FIXED. THOSE ARE MINOR COMPARED TO THE CHALLENGES I ENCOUNTERED LAST WEEK WITH THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT INTO SERVICE THE BRAKES FOR NORMAL WARE AND TEAR AND HAD TWO RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF. I ALSO HAD THE REAR WINDOW WHICH WAS LEAKING FIXED (3RD TIME) AND DASHBOARD TRIM REPAIRED (2ND TIME). ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY DISCOVERED IT HAD 2 BAD CODES THAT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A BAD GROUND. THEIR FIRST THOUGHT WAS THE RECALL WORK WAS NOT DONE PROPERLY. ONCE THEY DUG INTO THE CODES THEY DISCOVERED A COUPLE OF THINGS. FIRST THE MODULE-ACTIVE DAMPENING WAS BAD AT A COST TO ME OF $749.00. IN MY OPINION THIS MODULE HAD NOTHING TO DUE WITH MY CARE FOR THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR. IT WAS SO HARD TO GET IT TOOK THE DEALER 2 DAYS TO FIND ONE. THEY ALSO COMMENTED IT WAS THE FIRST THEY HAVE EVER REPLACED. THEY ALSO DISCOVERED DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT ONE OF THE SHOCKS IS BAD AND WILL COST APPROX. $1600.00 TO REPLACE AND THEY ARE NONE TO BE HAD RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER. AGAIN ANOTHER PART THAT SHOULD NOT BE REPLACED IN LESS THEN 2 YEARS OF HIGHWAY USE. THIS IS A SRT MODEL (THE MOST EXPENSIVE CAR IN CHRYSLER'S LINE) AND IT ONLY HAS SURFACE STREET AND HIGHWAY MILES ON IT. AS FOR THE SHOCK THE DEALER IS ASKING JEEP TO PAY FOR ALL OF IT EXCEPT $100.00, WE SHALL SEE. FINALLY THEY DISCOVERED SOMETHING THEY CALL A "BRACKET" WHICH IS AN ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS WAS BAD. IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY REPAIRED IT BUT IF IT GOES OUT AGAIN IT WILL BE ANOTHER $1600.00 REPAIR. ONCE AGAIN SHOULD NOT A ELECTRONIC COMPONENT THAT WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE DASH BOARD REMOVED TO REPLACE IT LAST THE LIFE OF THE CAR? *TR

IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT FAILED TO HEAT UP. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAT SENSOR AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING) HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS UNAVAILABLE.
TOTAL POWER LOSS IN CABIN AND ENGINE, UNABLE TO OPEN PASSENGER DOORS FROM INSIDE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND THERE WAS A BURNING CIRCUIT SMELL EMITTING FROM UNDER THE TIPM. AAA TRIED GIVING A JUMP BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER EVEN THOUGH TEMPORARY ELECTRICAL POWER HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED WHILE CONNECTED TO AAA POWER SOURCE. ELECTRICAL POWER WAS LOST UPON DISCONNECT FROM AAA SOURCE. DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES BATTERY AND CONNECTING CABLES. DEALERSHIP ALSO DETERMINED THAT THE BURNING SMELL EMITTED FROM THE BATTERY. *TR

A YEAR AGO I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP ABOUT MY CAR NOT STARTING JUST WEEKS AFTER COMPLETING A MAJOR (NORMAL) SERVICE. AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP DIRECTLY, I HAD MY JEEP TOWED AND THEY AGREED TO FIX THE FUEL PUMP (A RECALL THAT HAD RECENTLY COME OUT, BUT NOT YET ON MY SPECIFIC JEEP). THE FIX SEEMED TO WORK FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT THEN BEGAN HAPPENING AGAIN, ONLY NOW I CAN SOMETIMES START THE JEEP AFTER WAITING AWHILE. LESS THAN 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN MY JEEP WOULDN'T START AGAIN, I CALLED SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT FIXED AGAIN, ALONG WITH AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN I PICKED UP MY JEEP, I LEARNED THAT THE FIX WAS NOT DONE. THE MECHANIC NOTED THAT IT HAD ALREADY BEEN DONE. I COMPLAINED TO THE CASHIERS THAT THE JEEP NOT STARTING WAS THE MAIN REASON I BROUGHT THE JEEP IN. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE, BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND MY SERVICE ADVISER. I ASKED THEM TO HAVE HIM CALL ME. HE NEVER CALLED. I LEFT SEVERAL MESSAGES AND I'VE SENT EMAILS TO THE SUPERVISOR, AND NO RETURN CALLS. NOW I HAVE A NEW PROBLEM IN ADDITION TO THE JEEP NOT ALWAYS STARTING, I HAVE A SIGNIFICANT WATER SLOSHING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. NOTE: EACH TIME THAT MY CAR HAS FAILED TO START, IT WAS FIRST IN THE OFF POSITION AND PARKED. THE NUMBER OF TIMES MY JEEP HAS FAILED TO START, OR DIED AFTER START HAD BEEN MORE THAN 10 TIMES.

MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE CHRYSLER RECALL P54, WHICH IS THE RECALL FOR 2011 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE ENGINE WOULD STALL WHILE DRIVING, AND IT ALSO ENCOUNTERED NOT START PROBLEM AS WELL AS THE NOT START ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT PROBLEM. EVEN THE CAR COULD START, THE ENGINE WOULD STALL AGAIN SHORTLY. I CONTACTED THE DEALER, PLANET JEEP IN FLAGSTAFF, AZ ON 10 OCT AND WAS TOLD CHRYSLER WAS RATIONING PARTS AND THAT THEY WOULD PLACE ME ON A LIST. I'VE BEEN IN THAT VIRTUAL QUEUE WAITING ON PARTS SINCE 10 OCVT 2014 AND EVERY TIME I CALL THE DEALER I'M STILL ON THE LIST. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE POOR SERVICE AS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR PARTS TO FIX SAFETY PROBLEMS FOR GOING ON THREE MONTHS. I'VE BEEN THROUGH SEVERAL RECALLS OVER THE PAST 40-YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AN EXCESSIVE DELAY LIKE THIS. BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES OF DRIVING AFTER STARTING THE CAR, ON 10/5/14. THIS PATTERN CONTINUED FOR TWO DAYS, AND ON THE MORNING OF 10/8/14 THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING COMPLETELY WHILE I WAS PULLING INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE AUTO SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. WHILE DRIVING, I LOST POWER STEERING AND ABS BEFORE THE CAR STALLED COMPLETELY A FEW MOMENTS LATER. I HAD TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL DAYS LATER I LEARNED OF A NEW RECALL ON CHRYSLER VEHICLES DUE TO ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS, AND TODAY I LEARNED MY VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THIS RECALL BECAUSE I HAVE A 180 AMP ALTERNATOR, AND THOSE RECALLED WERE 160 AMP. THE DEALER TOOK A LOOK AT IT THE NEXT DAY AND COULD NOT MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY RE CHIPPED IT I BELIEVE(RESET THE ELECTRONICS). THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPEN AGAIN APPROX. 30 DAYS LATER AND IT WAS TOWED IN AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUE. THEY SAID WE HAD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
CHRYSLER SENT ME A RECALL FOR P14 AND P36 AND I MADE DIFFERENT INTENTS FOR MORE THAT SIX MONTHS TO DEALERS IN MIAMI AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. TODAY 09/03/2014, A CALL CHRYSLER AND THE TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS SUPPLYING THESE PARTS....??????? *TR
