I HAVE A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN DECEMBER 2011. IN 2013 I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST INCIDENT WHERE MY JEEP STARTED, RAN FOR 1-2 SECONDS, THEN DIED. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES TO RESTART IT AND COULD NOT GET IT TO RESTART. I FINALLY DECIDED TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND START THE IGNITION PROCESS OVER. THANKFULLY THAT SEEMED TO WORK. BETWEEN THE FIRST INCIDENT AND THE NEXT SERVICE VISIT (JANUARY 2014), THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6-10 TIMES. I MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND THEY NOTED IT ON THE SERVICE SHEET; HOWEVER THEY TOLD ME THEY SAW NO ERROR CODES AND COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THE IN FEBRUARY I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE IT STARTED THEN STALLED, THEN THE SECURITY ALARM SOUNDED. I HAD TO REMOVE THE PUSH START AND USE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IN ORDER TO DISENGAGE THE SECURITY SYSTEM. THEN APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK LATER I STARTED THE JEEP TO GO TO WORK AND IT DIED AFTER RUNNING FOR 1-2 SECONDS. I RESTARTED THE IGNITION PROCESS, THIS TIME WHEN I LET GO OF THE PUSH BUTTON START THE STARTER CONTINUED TO CRANK FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS, UNTIL I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND LOCKED THE CAR. NOW IN THE LAST TWO DAYS THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED, RAN FOR 1-2 SECONDS, THEN DIED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND SHARED THE ABOVE INFORMATION WITH THEM. I HAVE ADVISED THEM THAT I THINK I HAVE A BAD TIPM. I AM HOPING TO GET THIS ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY SINCE I HAVE 33,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND DO NOT WANT THIS TO BE REPLACED AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. I AM SEEING THE AVERAGE COST TO REPLACE THE TIPM AT A DEALER IS $1200-$1400. THERE ARE ENOUGH SIMILAR STORIES ABOUT THESE SORT OF ISSUES THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE: WHEN STARTING, VEHICLE STALLS. WHEN TRY TO RESTART, VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY TURNS OVER WITHOUT STARTING UNTIL IT FINALLY TIMES ITSELF OUT. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE ISSUE SO THEY WILL NOT FIX UNLESS I CHOOSE TO REPLACE THE TIPM AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I'VE GIVEN THEM ARTICLE AFTER ARTICLE ABOUT THIS ISSUE - TO NO AVAIL. WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT COVER THE ISSUE BECAUSE DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NO ISSUE. *TR
DISTRACTING AND HARD TO SEE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE IN DAYLIGHT. HAVE TO TAKE EYES OFF THE ROAD WHILE TRYING TO DETERMINE CURRENT SPEED,VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V234000 (POWER TRAIN, STEERING). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
2012 GRAND CHEROKEE V8 OVERLAND SUMMIT. ENGINE WON'T START AT RANDOM TIMES. ENGINE JUST CRANKS AND CRANKS BUT WON'T FIRE. LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE THEN WILL START. BEEN INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES NOW SINCE AUGUST 2013. THEY REPLACED FUEL PUMP OVERLAY HARNESS AFTER CHECKING FOUND NO FUEL PRESSURE, AND FOUND A "STAR CASE" WITH FIX. THIS DID NOTHING AS PROBLEM STILL OCCURS MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK. DEALER CLAIMS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALER WITH 14,500 MILES ON IT. STILL UNDER THE 3 YEAR, 36000 MILE WARRANTY. STARTED THE ENGINE ONLY TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATE. DROVE BYAUTOZONE AND RED THE CODE, P0304, MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 4. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE PURCHASED AND HE SENT IT TO THE JEEP DEALER FOR SERVICE. I WAS GIVEN A LONER CAR FROM THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM. I RECEIVED THE VEHICLE BACK ON WED. JULY 31ST FROM MY PURCHASING DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE COMPUTER WAS FLASHED AND RE-PROGRAMMED. THURSDAY MORNING, THE DAY AFTER THE REPAIR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. CALLED THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND WILL BE DROPPING OFF FRIDAY MORNING. I KNOW OF THE INHERENT ISSUES WITH THE 3.6 L PENTSTAR ENGINE CYLINDER HEADS AND WANT BOTH HEADS REPLACED. *TR

ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 3 MONTHS AGO, TOOK TO DEALER SAID IT WAS NOTHING. I ASKED WHY DID IT COME ON THEY SAID IT'S JUST COMPUTERS SOME TIMES THEY HAVE TO BE RESET. ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON MONDAY TOOK TO SAME DEALER. THEY SAID I HAD CYLINDER MISFIRE IN THE 6TH CYLINDER AND HAD TO REPLACE IT. AFTER SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I SEE THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH JEEP CHEROKEE 2012. WHY IS THIS NOT ON A RECALL? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BACK INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V104000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
COULD HEAR POWER STEERING PUMP WHINE. LOOKED AT POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL AND IT WAS LOW. CRAWLED UNDERNEATH AND FOUND FLUID DRIPPING OFF OF RACK'N PINION AND SIGNS OF FLUID BLOWING ALL OVER UNDER CARRIAGE. TOOK TO DEALER AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM ON JULY 1ST. *TR
HUSBAND DRIVING MV TO STORE, STARTED SMELLING SHARP SMELL OF WIRES BURNING, WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM AREA AROUND THE VISOR ON DRIVERS SIDE, CAME RIGHT HOME WITH IT, SINCE SMOKE WAS BURNING HIS EYES AND NOSE, OPENED SUNROOF TO LET SMOKE OUT, IT CONTINUED SMOKING THEN STARTED TO BURN THRU MATERIAL SURROUNDING THE VISOR, THEN BURST INTO FLAMES . MY HUSBAND GOT OUT THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FLAMES OUT, BEFORE THE FIRE DEPT ARRIVED.INSIDE OF THE MV HAS MELTED PLASTIC ALL OVER.THE SUNROOF WILL NOT WORK, AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS ALL SCREWED UP. *TR
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 6/24/2013 THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) ILLUMINATED DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THE CONTACT CALLED THE AUTHORIZED DEALER AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE ISSUE. THE DEALER STATED THE LIGHT WAS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY A LOOSE GAS CAP. THE DEALER INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO GIVE IT A COUPLE DAYS AND IT WOULD MOST LIKELY TURN OFF. THE LIGHT TURNED OFF AFTER 2 DAYS. SUBSEQUENTLY ON 7/10/2013 THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE NEXT MORNING. THE DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY CYLINDER NUMBER 2 MISFIRING IN THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEAD, VALVE, AND CYLINDER NUMBER 2 ON 7/13/2013. VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP ON 7/15/2013 AND THE NEXT DAY THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. CONTACT NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF ISSUE AND WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK. *TR
ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRES, MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR, WORN DOWN TO WEAR BARS AT 14,600 MILES. TIRES WERE ROTATED TWICE AT 5,000 AND 10,000 MILES BY DEALER. TIRES ARE ADVERTISED AS HAVING A 65,000 MILE WARRANTY. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HOME. WHEN HE WAS CLOSE TO MY HOME HE NOTICED AN ACRID SMELL AND SAW A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM THE AREA AROUND THE CONTROL PANEL, NEAR THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, ON THE CEILING OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN HE PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY HE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE BUT THE AMOUNT OF SMOKE INCREASED SO MY SON CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. BEFORE THEY ARRIVED THE CAR HAD BURST INTO FLAMES. SIGNIFICANT PORTIONS OF THE ROOF, SUNROOF AND CEILING OF THE CAR HAVE BEEN BADLY DAMAGED... UPDATED 08-20-14 *BF UPDATED 08/25/2014 *JS
MATTHEWS DODGE AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT SERVICE MY RECALL AFTER SEVERAL CALLS AND A COMPLAINT TO VEHICLE SAFETY! *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR INCIDENTS WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT SPEED FROM 35 TO UPWARDS OF 70 MPH, MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITHOUT WARNING POWERS OFF AND ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THE ISSUES WERE DIAGNOSED BY CRISWELL JEEP SERVICE CENTER, WHEREBY THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS DUE A FAULTY AND LOOSE GROUND/ THE SUBSEQUENT RE-OCCURRENCES WERE DUE TO FAILURE OF TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) WHICH WAS REPLACED AT MILEAGE OF 10,811. ODDLY, ONE YEAR FOR SECOND ON JUNE 10, 2014, SAME ISSUE RECURRED. I CONTRACTED CHRYSLER TO REPORT THE DEFECT AND OPEN A FILE ON THE MATTER. THEY INSTRUCTED TO TAKE TO ANOTHER JEEP SERVICE CENTER FOR SECONDARY ASSESSMENT ON ELECTRICAL ISSUES IDENTIFIED A YEAR EARLIER. DARCARS JEEP SERVICE CENTER COULD NOT FIND NOTHING WRONG EVEN AFTER THEIR TECHNICIAN DROVE MY SUV TO HIS RESIDENCE AND ADDED 62 MILES ONTO MY VEHICLE. IN CONCLUSION, I INFORMED A"POSSIBLE OF "FIX" BUT THE SOLUTION IS UNPROVEN AND NOT SUPPORTED BY CHRYSLER. PARTS ARE ON ORDER TO INSTALL A NEW RECEIVER, ANTENNA-R AND ANTENNA-P WHICH SHOULD CURE WHAT IS DEEM AS UNIDENTIFIABLE ISSUE. *TR
ON JUNE 2 AFTER CLEANING THE CAR AT THE CAR WASH (MANUALLY) ON THE WAY BACK TO OUR HOME ALL THE LIGHTS OF THE DASHBOARD LIT UP FOR ALL SERVICES TO BE DONE AND THE WIPERS ACTIVATED BY THEMSELVES. THE SAFETY BELTS ARE NO LONGER WORKING AND THE LIGHTS OF THE CAR ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL. YOU DO NOT HAVE BLINKERS, SEAT BELTS OR BRAKE LIGHTS. THE RPM NEEDLE GOES UP AND DOWN RANDOMLY AND THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO REV UP AND DOWN. THE BRAKES FEEL AS IF THEY ARE NOT WORKING TO FULL STRENGTH, CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO SEE IF PROBLEM WITH DASHBOARD STILL EXIST. CAR STARTED WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS, BUT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THE CAR WAS SERVICED AT BRIGHAM-GILL DEALERSHIP (ORIGINAL SALES DEALER) ON 03-JUNE-2013 GIVING IT BACK TO ME WITH THE RESET OF ALL MODULES AND DEEMED OK AT THAT POINT. ON 08-JUNE-2013 THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING TO VIRGINIA BEACH. CAR STARTED SAME PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED ON 03-JUNE-2013. CAR IS AT NEW JERSEY DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. CAR DEALER IN NJ NOTED THAT THERE WAS A NEW COMPUTER MODULE REPLACEMENT TO SAID VEHICLE IN JANUARY TIMEFRAME. EACH TIME THE CAR HAS THIS PROBLEM, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO EITHER START THE VEHICLE OR MOVE CAR OUT OF PARK POSITION. *TR
PROBLEM DEVELOPED JUST AFTER 10,000 MILES WITH MILD VIBRATION ON ACCELERATION. PROBLEM PERSISTED AND GOT WORSE. I HAD VEHICLE CHECKED BY DEALER AND HEAD MECHANIC AT 15,000 WHEN IN FOR OIL CHANGE. DEFINITELY WAS A PROBLEM, TOOK A DAY TO DIAGNOSE WITH HELP FROM JEEP. /CHRYSLER SAID IT WAS FAILURE OF THE TRANSFER CASE/DRIVETRAIN CONTROL MODULE. IT TOOK FROM JUNE 25 UNTIL AUGUST 19 TO OBTAIN NEW MODULE. DURING THAT TIME VEHICLE VIBRATION WORSENED FURTHER REQUIRING BACKING OFF ON ACCELERATION AND THEN CONTINUING ACCELERATION TO GET UP TO HIGHWAY SPEED. VERY MUCH LIKE RIDING ON A BAD WASHBOARD ROAD PLUS NOISE COMING FROM UNDER FRONT AND THEN ADDITIONAL NOISE FROM REAR. WHEN GOING UP MODERATE INCLINES BACK END BEGAN STRONGLY VIBRATING TO THE POINT WHERE IT FELT BACK END WAS GOING TO START HOPPING PLUS A CLUNK NOISE. BACKING DOWN ACCELERATION AND THEN REACCELERATING WOULD LESSEN PROBLEM BUT STILL MADE VIBRATION. FINAL CAUSE AFTER REPAIR: CAUSE LISTED AS BROKEN PROPELLER SHAFT WITH UNIVERSAL JOINTS, REPLACED TRANSFER CASE TO REAR AXLE; REPLACE REAR PROP SHAFT DUE TO CARRIER BEARING FAILURE CAUSING VIBRATION; REPLACE FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE PER DIAGNOSIS FOR SHUTTERING IN DRIVELINE. VEHICLE HAS 17,578 MILES AT REPAIR COMPLETION. PROBLEM APPEARS FIXED IN THE FIRST 500 MILES I HAVE DRIVEN SINCE REPAIR. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN UNUSUAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THERE WERE SEVERAL REAR BOLTS ON THE REAR BASE OF THE TIRE AXLE FLANGE THAT WERE LOOSE AND SOME HAD FRACTURED OFF THE BASE FLANGE. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL THE TIRE BOLTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT HE HAD RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) BUT THE PART AS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT FELT THEY EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) IS ON WITH P0300 AND P0302 CODES, EXHAUST ESCAPING #2 PISTON HEAD- CAUSING ROUGH IDLING, CEL FLASHES, AND SEVERAL STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. FOUND OUT THIS IS "COMMON" ON PENTASTAR ENGINES, AND PARTS ARE NOT READILY AVAILABLE FROM CHRYSLER TO MAKE REPAIRS, AND DEALERS LET PEOPLE DRIVE THE CAR INSTEAD OF PROVIDING ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION. THEY SHOULD HAVE TO REPAIR AND REPLACE THESE HEADS THAT HAVE NOW BEEN REDESIGNED IN MORE CURRENT BUILDS. LETTING PEOPLE DRIVE CARS THAT CAN STALL IN MOTION IS DANGEROUS. NOT HAVING PARTS READILY AVAILABLE WHEN THEY ARE HAVING 300 TO 400 OF THESE FAILURES A WEEK IS RIDICULOUS. THE ATTACHED LINK SHOWS THAT CHRYSLER HAD THIS PART SHORTAGE SINCE LAST SUMMER, AND IS NOT MEETING THE DEMAND FOR REPLACEMENTS EVEN NOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FOR LUNCH AND SMELLED A VERY SHARP SCENT THAT BURNED MY THROAT AND EYES. I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS THINKING IT WAS THE CAR IN FRONT OF MINE. APRIL 5, 2013, LESS THAN A YEAR (PURCHASED - 2012 JEEP GRANDE CHEROKEE LAREDO) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON, TOOK VEHICLE TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND INFORMED MY SERVICE PROVIDER (JEEP DEALERSHIP) THERE IS A "PROBLEM" WITH THE CYLINDER HEAD. VERY DISTURBING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW, LESS THAN 10K MILES AND ALREADY A MAJOR PART MUST BE REPLACED ON A "BRAND NEW" VEHICLE. I AM INFORMED THAT IS NOT A COMMON, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON". REPAIR TOOK MORE THAN THREE DAYS, BECAUSE THE ENTIRE ENGINE MUST BE TAKEN OUT TO REPLACE THESE TWO CYLINDERS. VERY ALARMING AND VERY CONCERNED FOR THE FUTURE OF THIS VEHICLE, WHAT ELSE COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG NEXT? TWO MONTHS LATER, DRIVER SIDE SEAT MUST BE REPLACED DUE TO CRACKS IN THE "LEATHER". TWO MONTHS AFTER, BRAKES ARE MAKING STRANGE NOISES, ACCELERATION VERY SLOW, STALLS, MUST PRESS VERY HARD ON GAS PEDAL FOR VEHICLE TO PICK UP SPEED, VERY FRIGHTENING ESPECIALLY WHEN ENTERING THE FREEWAY. DOOR PANELS APPEARS LOOSE, THE DOORS (3) WILL NOT STAY OPEN, REQUIRES EXTRA PUSH AND HOLD BEFORE IT STAYS OPEN BY ITSELF. TO CLOSE THE DOOR I MUST LITERALLY SLAM THE DOOR, OTHERWISE NOT SHUT, VERY DISTURBING BECAUSE MY CHILDRENS SIT BACK THERE. HOPEFULLY THIS IS MY LAST ENCOUNTER THE CAMERAS (BACK) OF VEHICLE FLASH ON AND OFF, I AM VERY CONCERN ESPECIALLY WHEN THE POSITION OF THE DRIVER SEAT MAKES LOOKING BACK VERY DIFFICULT, THE CAMERA CANNOT BE FUNCTIONING INEFFICIENTLY. DRIVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DRIVEWAY DOEN THE ROAD TO A STOP SIGN. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES NOTICED THAT THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES DID NOT GRAB TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HOLDING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR HEARD A SOUND (LIKE AIR RELEASING FROM A BASKETBALL) AND THE VEHICLE SLOWLY BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND ROLL TO A STOP. ACREFULLY REACHED MY DESTINATION WHICH WAS A SHORT DISTANCE. LEFT VEHICLE IN PARKING LOT AND WENT TO WORK. CAME OUT APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS LATER. AIR TEMPERATURE HAD WARMED UP TO ABOVE 32 DEGREES. DROVE VEHICLE AGAIN AND BRAKES WORKED NORMALLY. CALLED DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID SINCE NO ABS LIGHT CAME ON THEY REALLY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. THEY SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE THERE WAS AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE. WELL ON FEB.18TH IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE IN THE COLD AND THE WIND CHILL WAS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT TO THEM. I DID AND THE SERVICE PERSON WHEN MOVING MY VEHICLE TO "AROUND BACK" HAD THE SAME OCCURANCE. BRAKE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE ROLLING TO A STOP. WELL THE MECHANIC DIDN'T GET TO THE VEHICLE UNTIL LATER IN THE DAY WHEN THE AIR TEMPERATURE WARMED UP AND HE FOUND THAT THE BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY AND HE COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE LINES, BRAKE MASTER CYCLINDER, OR ABS. THE DEALER HAS KEPT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT BUT I AM CONCERNED THEY WILL FIND NO ISSUE. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL I AM ASSURED THAT THE BRAKES WILL FUNCTION PROPERLY IN ALL WEATHER CONDIONS. *TR
THE INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING ACCELERATION UP AN ENTRANCE RAMP INCLINE FROM 30 MPH TO 50 MPH ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. WHEN ENTERING THE HIGHWAY A VEHICLE MOVED INTO MY PATH AT WHICH TIME, I QUICKLY MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO FIND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO PRESS AND MY CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO ANY BRAKE PEDAL INPUT, AT THAT MOMENT. I HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID CONTACT WITH THE OTHER VEHICLE. A VERY SHORT TIME LATER, THE BRAKES APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THIS CONDITION MULTIPLE TIMES AND BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE CONDITION INITIALLY. I RODE WITH THE TECHNICIAN AND WALKED HIM THROUGH THE STEPS TO RECREATE MY EXPERIENCE. HE CONFIRMED THE CONDITION EXISTED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED A BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM HOSE AND CAN STILL CREATE THE CONDITION IN MY VEHICLE "A BRAKE PEDAL THAT IS HARD TO DEPRESS AND DOES NOT SLOW/STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY." CHRYSLER HAS STATED IT IS AWARE OF THIS CONDITION IN IT'S PENTASTAR 6 CYLINDER DUE TO LOW VACUUM BRAKE BOOST UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS AND DESCRIBES THE CONDITION AS A "CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE ENGINE, FURTHER EXPLAINING THE "VEHICLE IS WORKING AS INTENDED." WHILE EVERY ONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER WAS NICE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED IMMEDIATELY. NOT HAVING RESPONSIVE BRAKES UNDER ALL CONDITIONS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, THIS IS NOT A "CHARACTERISTIC" BUT A DESIGN FLAW THAT SOMEONE NEEDS TO ADDRESS BEFORE TOO MANY UNITS ARE ON THE ROADS AND EXPERIENCE THE WRONG CONDITIONS AT THE WRONG TIME AND SOMEONE IS NOT ABLE TO SWERVE OR STOP IN TIME. I CAN'T IMAGINE THIS HAS NOT OCCURRED ALREADY. THERE IS A "CHRYSLER START CASE" WITH THIS INFORMATION IN IT.
THIS JEEP HAS REMOTE KEY-LESS ENTRY/ENGINE START. THE ENGINE CANNOT BE TURNED OFF UNLESS THE GEAR SHIFT IS IN PARK. IF THE THROTTLE STAYS OPEN CAUSING UNINTENDED ACCELERATION, ONE CANNOT TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THIS COULD RESULT IN ONE OR MORE DEATHS AND/OR SERIOUS INJURY! I HAVE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH STARTING MY 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE V8 OVERLAND. THE JEEP WILL START BUT WILL STALL RIGHT AWAY. SOMETIMES IF YOU PUT THE JEEP IN GEAR QUICKLY IT WILL STALL IN GEAR ALSO. MOST OF THE TIME IT STALLS RIGHT AFTER STARTING. I HAVE TO SHUT THE JEEP OFF AND PRESS THE START BUTTON AGAIN TO GET IT STARTED. I HAVE HAD THIS JEEP AT THE DEALERSHIP (COLORADO CHRYSLER JEEP) MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS AND THE "RESOLUTION" FOR THE DEALERSHIP IS THAT THEY CAN NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. CALLED COLORADO CHRYSLER JEEP BACK AND THEY SAID THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WOULD HAVE TO GET AN ELECTRICIAN IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THAT WOULD TAKE A COUPLE OF WEEKS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AT THIS POINT AND CHRYSLER HAD ME TAKE THE JEEP INTO CHERRY CREEK DODGE BECAUSE THEY COULD "GET ME IN QUICKER". ON 5/22/15 I TOOK THE JEEP TO CHERRY CREEK DODGE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERFORMED PROCEDURE S1308000399 5/2015 OUTLINED IN CHRYSLER'S STAR SYSTEM. THE NEXT DAY THE JEEP STALLED. I HAVE CALLED BACK MULTIPLE TIMES TO BOTH CHRYSLER AND CHERRY CREEK DODGE WITH EITHER NO ANSWER OR NO SOLUTION. CHERRY CREEK DODGE IS NOW PUTTING ME OF WITH A NEW RECALL SAYING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THINKS THAT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM, AND CHRYSLER WANTS TO GO WITH WHAT CHERRY CREEK DODGE SAYS. THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS ARE AN OBSTRUCTION OF THE DRIVER'S VIEW WHEN TURNING INTO SPIRALING PARKING LOTS. THE MIRRORS ARE SO LARGE, (LARGER THAN NECESSARY TO SEE WHAT IS ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE) THAT I HAVE TO SIT FORWARD AND LOOK AROUND THE MIRROR OR ABOVE THE MIRROR, OR BELOW THE MIRROR TO SEE THE LINE IN THE STREET. IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE WHERE THE LINES ARE WHEN DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR AN ATM MACHINE. I AM A TALL PERSON SO I IMAGINE A SHORTER PERSON WOULD REALLY HAVE TROUBLE WITH VISIBILITY WHEN DRIVING AND TRYING TO SEE WHAT IS ON THE SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TO BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING BECAUSE I HAVE ALMOST HIT OTHER VEHICLES WHEN TURNING LEFT DUE TO OBSTRUCTION OF VISIBILITY. I CAN SEE THROUGH THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS, I JUST CANNOT AROUND THE MIRRORS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DESIGN DEFECT BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE ANYONE NOT HAVING A PROBLEM SEEING AROUND THESE MIRRORS. MY HUSBAND COMPLAINS ABOUT THE MIRRORS AND EVERYONE THAT DRIVES MY JEEP. THE MIRRORS NEED TO BE SMALLER AND LOWER SO THAT YOU CAN SEE OVER AND AROUND THEM. THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME I WAS AGAIN DRIVING ON THE BELTWAY AND THE GEAR SWITCHED FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL OR A LOWER GEAR. EACH TIME (3) I HAD TO PULL OVER AND STOP AND GO INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE. DON'T KNOW IF IT'S AN ENGINE, GEAR OR POWER TRAIN ISSUE. ALSO ALMOST DAILY WHEN DRIVING, THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT'S PULLING/STRAINING AND NOT GOING ALL THE WAY INTO DRIVE. THIS IS HAPPENING IN THE WINTER AND SUMMER (ANY TIME OF YEAR, NOT WEATHER SPECIFIC). I ALWAYS WARM THE CAR UP BEFORE DRIVING IT. WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT HAVING THIS ISSUE, IT DRIVES VERY SMOOTHLY. THE ISSUE HAPPENS 75% OF THE TIME (EXCEPT WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER, IT ALWAYS DRIVE SMOOTHLY WHEN THEY TAKE IT OUT). HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND COMPLAINED BUT THE RESPONSE HAS BEEN THAT WHEN THEY TOOK IT OUT TO TEST DRIVE IT, IT WAS FINE AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP IT AND DO SEVERAL TEST DRIVES TO SEE IF IT WILL REPLICATE THE SITUATION. BECAUSE I NEED MY VEHICLE TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK EACH DAY AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR A RENTAL OR PROVIDE A LOANER, THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE. I DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO RENT A CAR AND PAY A CAR NOTE. I RECEIVED THE RECALL FOR THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES SO HOPEFULLY MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE BRAKE NEEDING TO BE PUSHED ON FIRMLY WILL GO WAY WHEN THE PART'S COME IN (HUGE BACK ORDER, ON WAITING LIST FOR PARTS). THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILST STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WE TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND THEY PLUGGED INTO IT AND THEY DISPLAYED A MISFIRE ON 2. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME IT HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME CHRYSLER CHANGED THE HEAD. NOW ITS IN THE SHOP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I AM WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO GET BACK WITH ME ON WHAT CHRYSLER IS GOING TO DO. *TR
MULTIPLE INCIDENTS - STOPPED AT CORNER HEADING UPHILL. HAPPENED TO TOUCH BOTH BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. I FOUND THAT WHEN GOING INTO THE INTERSECTION AT THE CHANGE OF LIGHT, NO GAS (PROPULSION) FOR APPROX. 5 SECONDS. COMPLAINED TO SERVICE MGR. HE ADVISED HE HAD HEARD THIS BEFORE AND WOULD CONTACT CHRYSLER. NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. OVER THE TWO YEARS THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ABOUT 4 TIMES. I HAVE SINCE BEEN TOLD THAT NISSAN HAS ALSO ENGINEERED THIS INTO THEIR CARS AS IF THIS MAKES IT RIGHT. *TR
COLD STARTED VEHICLE. WAITED FOR FAST IDLE TO SUBSIDE (COOL WEATHER). PLACED IN DRIVE AND SLOWLY ACCELERATED INTO GARAGE, APPR 30 FEET. BRAKED VEHICLE TO FULL STOP. VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE UNDER SOME LEVEL OF POWER, MORE THAN IDLE SPEED WITH NO ACCELERATION BY DRIVER. BEGAN TO SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE AND ONCE THE SHIFT LEVER WAS IN THE NEUTRAL SLOT, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED TO ABOUT 4000 RPM. ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN IN NEUTRAL TO AVOID SHIFTING INTO PARK AT HIGH RPM. SECOND OCCURRENCE ON 15NOV2012, SAME SITUATION. CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER (BB - CHRYSLER JEEP) (16NOV2012 0931), SPOKE WITH PM - SERVICE CONSULTANT WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS ON THIS VEHICLE FOR ACCELERATION TYPE PROBLEMS. HE RECOMMENDED TO BRING IN FOR INSPECTION IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHO STATED THAT THE SOFTWARE WOULD NEED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE HAS A CURRENT SAFETY RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP RELAY. I'M SENDING THIS COMPLIANT BECAME I STRONGLY BELIEVE BASED ON INTERACTIONS WITH OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP THAT FIAT CHRYSLER IS PURPOSELY DELAYING REPAIRS TO SAVE MONEY. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A YEAR FOR PARTS AND THE CURRENT STATUS IS UNKNOWN WHEN OR IF IT WILL BE REPAIRED AND THIS VEHICLE IS SEVERELY AFFECTED IN STARTING BY THE FAULTY RELAY AND TIPM MODEL THAT IT'S INSTALLED ONE. THIS PROBLEM WAS COVERED UNDER A PREVIOUS RECALL THAT FAILED TO FIX IT. AFTER THIS MANY YEARS, THE FACT CHRYSLER CAN'T PROVIDE A HARD DATE FOR THE REPAIRS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY AREN'T GONG TO. THE DEALERSHIP BLAMES COVID SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUE ON EVERYTHING, BUT THIS WAS ONGOING LONG BEFORE COVID.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE HEAD CYLINDER GASKET MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,150.
THE BATTERY KEEPS DYING/VEHICLE WON'T START/DIES WHILE IDLING. MY JEEP HAS A PUSH BUTTON START, WHEN PUSHED, THE CAR WILL CYCLE THROUGH THE IGNITION PROCESS (ABOUT 15-30 SECONDS) BUT WON'T START. AFTER THAT THE BATTERY IS DRAINED ENOUGH NOT TO CYCLE THROUGH IGNITION PROCESS. THIS FIRST STARTED SHORTLY AFTER ORIGINAL PURCHASE OF VEHICLE AND I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO KEEP ON A CHARGER, WHICH ONLY WORKS SOME OF THE TIME. I HAVE TO HAVE INSURANCE SEND ROADSIDE TO JUMP CAR AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. IT HAS ALSO STARTED UP JUST TO DIE AS SOON AS IT IS PUT INTO GEAR, WARM OR COLD. JEEP CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND I AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL STALL OUT WITH HER AND 2 YEAR OLD SON INSIDE. *TR

HE KEEP HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE VEHICLE RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT FIND A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WE HAD NOTICED A SMALL PUDDLE OF FLUID IN OUR GARAGE AND TOOK CAR TO BE SERVICED AT JEEP. THEY SAID IT WAS TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. NEXT DAY WE DROVE 500 MILES TO OLIVER BC AND WHEN WE STOPPED THE CAR, WE NOTICED A LARGER PUDDLE OF RED FLUID FROM THE LEFT FRONT AREA UNDER CAR. THE CAR WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER AND REALIZED IT MUST BE POWER STEERING FLUID THAT WAS LEAKING. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALER IN PENTICTION, BC AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING FLUID LEFT IN THE SYSTEM. THEY "LOCATED POWER STEERING LEAK, AS CLAMP WAS NOT RELEASED, THEY RELEASED CLAMP, CLEANED OFF THE FLUIDS, REFILLED RESERVOIR, ROAD TESTED AND NO LEAKS." WE THEN DROVE ANOTHER 300 MILES TO OUR DESTINATION AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY LEAKS AND THE POWER STEERING SEEMS FINE. WE JUST BOUGHT THE CAR IN MAY AND IT ONLY HAS 2100 MILES ON IT. *TR
