THE PASSENGER HEADREST ERUPTED AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD STRIKING ME ON THE HEAD. DIDN'T FEEL GOOD AT ALL. I WAS KINDA DAZED AFTERWARDS. GOOGLED IT AND APPARENTLY I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. THIS IS GOING TO EVENTUALLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT SOMEWHERE.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING, WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC IT IS THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PUMP. ALSO A WEEK BEFORE THE DRIVERS HEADREST SUDDENLY DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING (JEEP HAS NEVER BEEN INTO A CAR ACCIDENT & I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER TO THIS 2014) WAS TOLD IT WILL BE AT LEAST $2000 WITH ALL PARTS & LABOR. THIS IS VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS AND I HAVE READ THE STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED UP ON HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WHILE DRIVING. THE JEEP DID NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. WHILE DRIVING TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD THE ENGINE REVVED UP AT 20 MPH AND THE JEEP DID NOT WANT TO GO- HAD TO SWITCH INTO SPORT MODE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE OUT OF THE ROAD WAY AND THE ENGINE REVVING CALMED DOWN. THE HEAD REST IS BROKE AND CAN NOT GO INTO ITS REGULAR POSITION. DID NOT GET A PRICE ESTIMATE ON THAT YET. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED BY JEEP!!!
THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEADREST HAS SPRUNG APART AND CAN'T BE RESET. THE SOFT SIDE PRESSING AGAINST THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S HEAD PREVENTS PROPER HEAD POSITION FOR DRIVING. IF THIS HAD OCCURRED DURING DRIVING IT COULD HAVE INJURED THE DRIVER AND/OR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE CONDITION OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OCCUPIED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE IN THE MORNING IT WAS DISCOVERED.
THE TRANSMISSION MAY UNEXPECTEDLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL, "CHRYSLER (FCA US LLC) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2014-2015 JEEP CHEROKEE AND 2015 CHRYSLER 200, JEEP RENEGADE, RAM PROMASTER, AND 2016 FIAT 500X VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 9-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS." THE RECALL CODE IS S55, BUT THIS CAR NOT INCLUDING THERE
HAVING EXTENDED STARTING ISSUES,SOMETIMES CAR HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON,HAVE BEEN TO DEALER 2 TIMES ,PURGE VALVE WAS REPLACED ,WITH NO CHANGE IN EXTENDED START.VEHICLE IS STATIONARY.DEALER SEEMED TO BE MORE INTERESTED IN SELLING US OTHER SERVICES UNRELATED TO EXTENDED START SUCH AS COOLANT FLUSH AND TIRES ,SPARK PLUGS ALIGNEMENTS WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED BEFORE VISIT,THIS CAR APPEARS TO BE UNDER RECALL R09 , BUT DEALER DOES NOT SEEM TO THINK IT IS
MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING 3 TIMES; TWICE ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH, AND ONCE WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN ON A BUSY STREET. I PUSH ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE, AND IT STALLS. ALL ELECTRICAL IS STILL ON, BUT I HAVE TO STOP THE CAR, PUT IT IN PARK, THEN I CAN RESTART AND CONTINUE. I WAS ALMOST IN A COLLISION A FEW TIMES BECAUSE OF THE CAR STALLING. THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES OR LIGHTS TO INDICATE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. JEEP IS NOT TRYING TO FIX THE ISSUE AND ACT AS IF THEY HAVEN'T HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. DEALERSHIPS "CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE" SO THEY JUST GIVE THE CAR BACK. IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR DOESN'T DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY (BIG JARRING MOTION LIKE YOU'VE BEEN REAR-ENDED) WHEN TRYING TO GO UP A HILL, OR PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP ALREADY REPLACED BOTH FUEL PUMPS, BUT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES MY ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED ON MY PASSENGER SEAT WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING THAT CAUSED THIS. AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT/FAILURE OF THE PLASTIC CLIP THAT HOLDS IT TOGETHER. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THE PRICE TO REPAIR IT IS RIDICULOUS AND IT'S OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE NHTSA ASAP. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL ASAP. SO MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING AND THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR ACCIDENT.
OIL FILTER HOUSING: BETWEEN MY TWO OIL CHANGES I NOTICED A SMALL OIL LEAK UNDER MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 3.6L. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THE LEAKAGE WAS DO TO A BAD "OIL FILTER HOUSING" AND THE PART WITH REPAIRS WOULD BE 799.99. I ASKED IF THIS SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER MY 5 YEAR / 100,000 WARRANTY BUT THEY SAID THE WARRANTY EXPIRED ON 10/24/2018 AND TODAY IS 2/5/2019. I CALLED CHRYLER AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THEY CANNOT OFFER TO COVER THE REPAIR; IT WOULD BE AN "OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE". SO I GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUES IN ALL THE FORUMS AND THREADS I READ. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER CHANGED THIS PART FROM METAL TO PLASTIC PART FOR THEIR 2014 MODELS AND LATER AND NOW THE PART IS FAILING ALL OVER THE PLACE. I REGISTERED A CASE NUMBER WITH CHRYSLER BUT I PROBABLY SHOULD NOT POST THAT IN A PUBLIC FORUM. I AM HOPING TO EVENTUALLY HAVE THIS ITEM AS A RECALL ITEM FOR 2014 AND NEWER VEHICLES. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE.
THERE IS A RECALL ON ESC MODULE FOR 2014 CHEROKEES BUILT IN 2013. MY JEEP MEETS THIS CRITERIA AND MY ESC LIGHT IS ON. WHEN I CONTACT JEEP THEY SAY THIS IS NOT A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE PUBLISHED ARTICLES STATING EXACT ISSUE ON MY MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE. TO REPAIR IS ALMOST 1K. JEEP SAYS FIX AND THEY MAY REIMBURSE LATER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AS IT IS A KNOWN RECALL ON LIKE VEHICLES. NOTHING HAPPENED TO CAUSE THE LIGHT TO GO ON. VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMAL AND LIGHT CAME ON.ON DASH.
Jeep Grand Cherokee power steering leak! We’re having the same problem that other Jeep owners are having, the steering rack leaks on the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The leak was discovered through regular maintenance check in 2018. We filled the reservoir with new fluid, it was fine for the entire year. It wasn’t until July 2021 that we discovered that fluid was leaking from the Steering Rack and Pinion and spraying fluid on to the engine. It got so bad that we had to fill the reservoir daily! My wife uses it locally and it’s never driven more than 100 miles a month and it has never been driven off road. This is appalling that it suffers from this kind failure so early in the Jeeps life. When I confronted the Jeep/Chrysler company with this issue, there only response was “it’s outside the warranty timeline”. The rep name was Sade and she was rude! This Jeep was garaged kept throughout it’s life. We’ve maintained this vehicle in immaculate condition, so much so that it STILL HAS THE NEW CAR SMELL!!! Very disappointed in Jeep. They used to be very reliable until they were bought out by FIAT, Go figure!
POWER STEERING FAILED, POWER STEERING UNIT CRACKED AND LEAKING WAS DRIVING 55MPH ON US 40 NEARING ELKTON. POWER STEERING BECAME HEAVY, CAME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT. TURNING INTO A SHOPPING CENTER FOR A AUTOZONE. AT THIS POINT THE VEHICLE WAS NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. IF THERE WERE AND EMERGENCY MANEUVER TO BE MADE U DEFINITELY WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT AND EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT... CHECKED POWER STEERING RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY, LOOKING AT THE POWER STEERING UNIT THE BOTTOM WAS SOAKED AND BELOW THE POWER STEERING UNIT WAS SOAKED... PURCHASED HYDRAULIC FLUID AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. LOOKING ONLINE I SAW THERE WERE OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR IN DESCRIPTION.. FILED I BELIEVE WITH THE NTSB, I MAY BE MISSING A LETTER... IN EITHER CASE CHRYSLER/JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS AND I CANT BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS... THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD. I CAN PROVIDE A MECHANIC'S DESCRIPTION OF DAMAGE...
THE HEADREST ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT "DEPLOYED" WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO DEPLOY DURING A REAR IMPACT COLLISION. THERE WAS NOT A COLLISION OR ANY OTHER IMPACT. I WAS IN THE CAR ALONE COMING TO A ROUTINE STOP. SUDDENLY HEARD THIS LOUD NOISE AND THE HEADREST HAD DEPLOYED. I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD THIS "SAFETY" FEATURE IN MY CAR. HAD THAT HAPPENED TO THE DRIVERS SEAT WHILE AT SPEED, IT COULD CAUSE ME TO LOSE CONTROL AS THE IMPACT TO THE BACK OF MY HEAD WOULD CERTAINLY BE A MAJOR DISTRACTION IF NOT CAUSE A CONCUSSION. I'M GETTING THE PASSENGER SEAT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT FCA SHOULD ALSO FIX THE DRIVERS SEAT TO PREVENT INJURY.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SRT. IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSFER CASE & REAR END REPLACED. THIS IS JUST UNCALLED FOR ON A 4 YEAR OLD CAR. IT IS CURRENTLY SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP (HAS BEEN THERE FOR A WEEK SO FAR) TO HAVE THE LIFTERS/CAM REPLACED. THE PARTS FROM CHRYSLER ARE SO FAR ON BACK ORDER THERE'S NO HOPE OF GETTING THEM. THE AFTERMARKET PARTS ARE ALSO ON BACK ORDER. THOSE 2 THINGS TELL ME THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD MALFUNCTION WITH THIS ENGINE & SEEMS TO ME TO BE A DESIGN FLAW.
DRIVER'S SIDE ACTIVE HEAD REST THAT IS INTENDED TO SPRING FORWARD IN A REAR END COLLISION HAS ACTIVATED AND IS NOW STICKING FORWARD. THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM IS BROKEN PLASTIC PINS IN THE HEAD REST. THERE ARE MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS ONLINE. I HAVE BEEN TO MULTIPLE JEEP DEALERSHIPS REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUE. THEY ALSO CLAIM THAT THIS DEACTIVATES THE REST OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT INCLUDING AIRBAGS WHICH WOULD BE INCREDIBLY UNSAFE AND UNETHICAL FOR THEM TO NOT REPAIR THIS CLEAR DEFECT.
HI, THE LEATHER ON THE DASHBOARD IS EXTREMELY CRINKLED FROM NATURAL EXPOSURE TO SUNLIGHT. READING IN FORUMS, IT SEEMS THIS IS A MASSIVE ISSUE AND NO RECALL TO FIX THE LINING HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED.
JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT HAD NOT BEEN SETTING FOR MORE THAN 6 HOURS SINCE LAST DRIVEN. I OPENED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND THE PASSENGER SIDE HEAD REST ACTIVATED. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS SCARED THE HECK OUT OF ME, BUT LUCKILY I WAS NOT HARMED. UPON INSPECTION IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THE PLASTIC RETAINERS WHICH HOLD THE UNIT IN SOMEHOW BROKE ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO ACTIVATE.. I AM NOT AN ENGINEER, BUT THIS IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM DUE TO FAULTY ENGINEERING OR MANUFACTURING. AFTER SOME TIME SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND TONS OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. CLEARLY JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, BUT AS OF YET HAS BEEN IGNORING THE PROBLEM. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED TO THE DRIVERS SIDE HEAD REST WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS OR POSSIBLY DEADLY ACCIDENT

THERE WERE NO CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD AND THERE WERE NO AIR BAG INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE SEPARATION OF THE LEATHER ON THE DASHBOARD CREATED A GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH OBSTRUCTED THE CONTACT'S VISION WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCHLOSSMANN DODGE CITY CHRYSLER JEEP RAM FIAT (19100 W CAPITOL DR, BROOKFIELD, WI 53045, (262) 790-9000) WHO STATED THAT THEY DID NOT SEE A RECALL AND ADVISED HIM TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND RESTATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
WHEN I START UP MY TRUCK THE CENTER CONSOLE WILL NOT COME ON RIGHT AWAY, IT TAKES ABOUT 3 TO 5 MINUTES FOR IT TO COME ON, SO WHEN I'M BACKING UP I CANNOT TELL IF ANYTHING IS IN MY WAY. MY SENSORS DON'T WORK, ETC. WHEN IT DO DECIDE TO COME ON, A MESSAGE POPS UP ( VEHICLE PHONE REQUIRES SERVICE PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DEALER ) THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE RADIO HAS TO BE REPLACED.SO I HAD THE RADIO REPLACED AND THIS HAPPENED LESS THAN A YEAR AGO. NOW IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS STARTED 9/24/2018 AND HAVE BEEN HAPPENING EVERY DAY SENSE THEN.
LEAK FROM THE OIL COOLER HOUSING ON ENGINE CAUSING A POOLING OF OIL MAKING A FIRE HAZARD
FAILURE OF A HEATER HOSE WHILE DRIVING CAUSED EXCESSIVE OVERHEATING WHICH LED TO ENGINE FAILURE. DEALER SAYS THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER HOSES THEREFORE THE COST OF REPLACING THE DIESEL ENGINE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY. THE COST IS NEARLY $17,000. I WOULD LIKE AN INVESTIGATION INTO WHY THE HOSE FAILED. WAS IT DUE TO DAMAGE CAUSED DURING PREVIOUS ENGINE WORK?

AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUFFINES CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM PLANO (LOCATED AT 4500 W PLANO PKWY, PLANO, TX 75093, (972) 867-6000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADREST SECURITY CLIP FAILED AND THE ENTIRE HEADREST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME STIFF WHEN DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE NEARLY FAILED TO STOP IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AFTERWARDS, THE CONTACT HEARD A HISSING NOISE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WESTBURY JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE RAM (111 BOND STREET, WESTBURY, NEW YORK 11590, (516) 336-4788) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,481. *DT *BF *TR UPDATED 10/3/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V741000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), AND 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER (FERMAN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM TAMPA, 24314 FL-54, LUTZ, FL 33559, (813) 929-2400) WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON DUE TO THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH. BUT THE CAR DOES HAVE GOOD OIL PRESSURE. AND EVEN AFTER AN OIL CHANGE THE LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF
[XXX] JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO, [XXX] JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO HAS FORMED A CRACK IN THE OIL FILTER ADAPTER. BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION, DESIGN, AND MATERIAL, THE PART IS PRONE TO CRACKING AND LEAKING (TYPICALLY SPURRED BY AN OIL CHANGE WHEN THE CAP IS SCREWED BACK ONTO THE HOUSING). THIS CRACK CREATES A SLOW LEAK OF OIL INTO THE ENGINE HOUSING AND BELOW THE VEHICLE. THIS OIL LEAK CAN CONTINUE WITHOUT OBVIOUS WARNING AND IF NOT CORRECTED, COULD RESULT IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE WITH THE POTENTIAL OF MALFUNCTIONING WHILE IN USE THEREFORE POSING A SAFETY THREAT TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS. I HAVE ALERTED JEEP TO THE ISSUE AND I WILL NOTE THAT I HAVE SPOKE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS WHO HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL OF THESE PARTS IN THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A MANUFACTURING DESIGN FLAW AND COSTING LOYAL CUSTOMERS AND POSING A DANGER ON THE ROADS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS INFORMATION TO JEEP (OR WHOMEVER THEY CONTRACT CUSTOMER SERVICE TO) AND THEY DOCUMENTED MY INFORMATION BUT REFUSED TO CORRECT THE SITUATION FOR MYSELF (AND OTHERS IN THE FUTURE) AND TOLD ME TO HOLD ONTO MY REPAIR INFORMATION IN CASE A RECALL TAKES PLACE IN THE FUTURE. JEEP SHOULD TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS EVER GROWING ISSUE AND RECALL THIS PART IMMEDIATELY. PLEASE HELP ME IN ENSURING THEY DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE VEHCILE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE COIL PACKS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE COIL PACKS WERE REPLACED ON 7 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.

I HAVE SPOKEN TO NUMEROUS GRAND CHEROKEE OWNERS AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH A PRICE TAG OF OVER $400.00 TO REPLACE. WHEN I CALLED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME IF THE 'CLIPS' WERE BROKEN THAT THE HEADREST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM SHOCKED THAT A 'SAFETY FEATURE ' MALFUNCTIONING IS A PROBLEM THAT I NEED TO PAY TO FIX. (ABOUT $680 FOR A REPLACEMENT PLUS LABOR COST) THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS CRASH AND INJURIES. THE CUT THAT I GOT WAS QUITE PAINFUL, AND IF TRAFFIC WAS WORSE I COULD HAVE BEEN DISTRACTED ENOUGH BY THE PAIN TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY DID NOT CARE. 34K MILES ON A 50K VEHICLE AND IT IS FALLING APART.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V483000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
WHILE I WAS IDLING IN A PARKING LOT A COOLANT HOSE TO MY TURBO SPLIT. THIS HOSE ( THE SIZE OF YOUR THUMB) IS UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND IS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO CHECK AND MAINTAIN. SEEING THAT THIS HOSE IS A FEW INCHES FROM THE TURBO AND EVEN CLOSER TO THE RIGHT ENGINE BANK, THE HEAT IS EXTREME. THE HOSE IS A RUBBER HOSE NOT UNLIKE A LAWN MOWER GAS HOSE. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE SMELL OF HOT COOLANT AND BEING STATIONARY, THE ENGINE WOULD OF LOST IT'S COOLANT WITHOUT ANY SIGNS. THE MAINTENANCE PORTION OF THE OWNERS MANUAL ASSUMES WE CAN SEE AND GET AT ALL COOLANT HOSES. THE TURBO HOSE SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN THE COOLANT THAT IN IT, ON MINE IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000 MILES. A STEEL BRADED HOSE WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE IN THIS LOCATION. ATTACHED IS THE PORTION OF THE OWNERS MANUAL AND A PICTURE OF THE NEW HOSE IN PLACE. TO REPLACE THIS HOSE THE DEALER HAD TO DROP THE ENGINE OUT OF THE TRUCK AND IT TOOK OVER 10 WEEKS TO GET IT BACK.

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AN UNKNOWN HEADLAMP UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
