THE DASHBOARD OF THE CAR HAS DEVELOPED WAVES IN THE LEATHER COVERING. IT IS UNCLEAR IF THE GLUE HAS LOOSENED, THE LEATHER MATERIAL WENT BAD, THE ORIGINAL INSTALLATION WAS POOR, OR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT HAPPENED. I ADDRESSED THIS WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY BLEW ME OFF. THEY CLAIM IT WAS COSMETIC AND NOT COVERED WITH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. SOON THE DASHBOARD DEFECT MIGHT EFFECT THE SENSOR ON THE DASHBOARD IF IT GET BLOCKED BY THE MATERIAL BREAKING DOWN MORE.
In 2018, my 2014 Chrysler/Jeep Grand Cherokee dashboard material had started to dislodge from the dash. I reached out to Jeep and they denied anything was wrong with the dash on their end and it was my fault for improper care of the car. I found this to be in contrast with research online of a large amount of complaints for the same model as mine suffering the same dashboard glue issues. In December of 2019, I received a notice from Jeep that they would be replacing the dashboard so in January of 2020 I dropped my car off at the local dealership, Joey Accardi. After not hearing from them, I sent an email on February 12, 2020 requesting an update. They advised they submitted a request for approval of the replacement to Jeep and were waiting to hear back. I picked up my vehicle as they could not provide a replacement timeline. After waiting several months I reached out to Jeep customer care Reference #75788102 and they advised they attempted to reach out to the dealership for an update with no response. After getting a response several days later they advised it was ordered and should arrive shortly. After waiting to hear back through the rest of 2020, I reached out again in February of 2021 to Jeep customer care Reference #78420942 and they "escalated" my issue to someone who called the dealership and was told it would arrive in May of 2021. They closed my case on February 5th without any further help or confirmation of receipt of part. I reached out again today, September 9th and received no help or any indication of replacement timeline. It has now been 3 years since I brought this to Jeeps attention and 22 months since they authorized replacement. My concern now is the dashboard material has dislodged two of my AC vents and has folded over where my airbag would deploy potentially causing harm or failure if the airbag were to attempt to deploy. This is clearly an issue with this year and model Jeep and they aren't remedying it potentially putting people in danger.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFF D'AMBROSIO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP DOWNINGTOWN (1221 E LANCASTER AVE, DOWNINGTOWN, PA 19335; (610) 269-9500) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EGR COOLER WAS REPLACED FIVE TIMES HOWEVER, THERE WAS A FRACTURE WHICH ALLOWED GASOLINE TO ENTER THE ENGINE, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FAIL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ONLY FUNCTIONED ON THE HIGHEST SETTING. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE WIPERS WERE NOT ACTIVATED, THEY WOULD STOP IMMEDIATELY IN THE POSITION THEY WERE IN AT THE TIME OF USE. PROVIDENCE AUTO (804 LANCASTER PIKE QUARRYVILLE, PA) CONFIRMED THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE MULTI-SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V509000 (VISIBILITY); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO INQUIRE ABOUT WHY THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THAT MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 53,000.
DON'T DRIVE A LOT AT NIGHT, BUT WHEN I DO THE HEADLIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WELL. THEY DO NOT LIGHT THE ROAD MORE THAN MAYBE 30'. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY LIVING IN RURAL MOUNTAIN AREA. ANOTHER PERSON DROVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT AND ASKED IF THE HEADLIGHTS WERE EVEN ON AS THEY DON'T ILLUMINATE WELL, EVEN WORSE IN RAIN. VERY DISAPPOINTING THAT A BASIC COMPONENT OF VEHICLE DOESN'T FUNCTION PROPERLY OR SAFELY.
I WAS INFORMED BY A SUPERVISOR AT THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION THAT THE REASON THAT THE TRANSFER CASE (PART OF THE DRIVETRAIN) ON MY ALL WHEEL DRIVE JEEP BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING WAS BECAUSE THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN TIRE TREAD DEPTH OF GREATER THAN 3/32 OF AN INCH (2.3MM). THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO REIMBURSE ME $1000 TOWARDS THE REPAIR, HOWEVER, I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
ON DECEMBER 24, 2017 MY ALTERNATOR SHORT CIRCUITED AND MY ALTERNATOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. MY CAR WAS DOING NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BY DELIVERING CHRISTMAS GIFTS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS WITHIN A TWO MILE RADIUS. INITIALLY WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, IT SOUNDED A LITTLE OUT OF THE ORDINARY, BUT NO SIGNS OF HAVING AN ISSUE. I DROVE LESS THAN A MILE, AND IT STARTED TO HAVE AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. I PARKED MY CAR AND TURNED IT OFF, AND WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, THE CAR HAD A HUMMING SOUND, AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE TEN FEET AND THERE WAS SMOKE EVERYWHERE IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN I OPENED MY HOOD, MY ALTERNATOR WAS ON FIRE. I PARKED THE CAR, AND NEVER DROVE IT AFTER THAT. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO KONA AUTO CENTER AT MY OWN EXPENSE. KONA AUTO CENTER WAS NOT HELPFUL, AND DID NOT HAVE A REPLACEMENT PART FOR THE ALTERNATOR. THEY TOLD ME TO GO AND BUY ONE, BUT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS THEN IT WOULD BE MY FAULT. THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND, AND I ENDED UP BEING MORE FRUSTRATED BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME LOANER, AND KEPT TRYING TO UPSELL ME TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE REPAIR TO MY CAR WAS NOT A CONCERN OF THEIRS, AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A WINDOW OF REPAIR TIME. BEING A SINGLE MOTHER, AND A MANAGER FOR MY COMPANY, I DO NOT HAVE TIME TO WASTE. I ENDED UP TRADING MY JEEP IN, AND NOTHING WAS RESOLVED.
SAFETY DEFECT/NON COMPLIANCE DESCRIPTION AND SAFETY RISK THE ALTERNATOR MAY EXPERIENCE DIODE THERMAL FATIGUE FAILURE DUE TO CYCLICAL LOADS INDUCED BY ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING. FAILED DIODES MAY ALSO DEVELOP A RESISTIVE SHORT CIRCUIT THAT CAN RESULT IN HEAT, SMOKE AND/OR FIRE ORIGINATING WITHIN THE ALTERNATOR. REPAIR DESCRIPTION THE ALTERNATOR PART NUMBER MUST BE INSPECTED ON ALL INVOLVED VEHICLES. VEHICLES FOUND WITH THE SUSPECT ALTERNATOR WILL HAVE IT REPLACED WITH A NEW ALTERNATOR CONTAINING IMPROVED DIODES ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. RECALL STATUS INCOMPLETE BUT REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE GET NOTIFIED WHEN PARTS ARE AVAILABLE ON DECEMBER 19, 2017 WE EXPERIENCED ONCE AGAIN ANOTHER PROBLEM. AFTER MY SON'S YOUTH BASKETBALL GAME, WE WENT TO THE PARKING LOT TO HEAD A COUPLE OF BLOCKS HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 8:15 PM. TURNING OUT ONTO THE ROADWAY, THE DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH WARNING LIGHT STATING THAT THE BATTERY WAS LOW AND THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING STARTED HOWLING. I SHUT DOWN AS MUCH OF THE INFOTAINMENT CENTER AS POSSIBLE TO CONSERVE POWER TO MAKE SURE THAT I MADE IT HOME. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD STARTED TO FOG UP SO I TURNED THE DEFROSTER ON LOW. AS SOON AS THE AIR STARTED COMING OUT, I COULD SMELL AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. UPON MY ARRIVAL HOME, I POPPED OPEN THE HOOD AND COULD SMELL ELECTRICAL BURN. I DECIDED TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESEARCH RECALLS AND TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. I BELIEVE THIS NEW ISSUE FALLS UNDER RECALL T75.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT STRUCK A DITCH ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND SPINE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT ABOUT 35 MPH WHEN THE BATTERY ICON FLASHED ON. THE AIR CONDITIONER AND THE RADIO CUTOFF FOLLOWING THE DISPLAY OF THE BATTERY ICON. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ALONG WITH A LOSS OF POWER. A MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD TELLING ME TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY ALONG WITH A SERVICE TRANS BRAKE MESSAGE AND A FEW OTHERS THAT I CAN'T RECALL. I TRIED TO GET TO A SAFE LOCATION BUT THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO PARK AND COMPLETELY TURNED OFF WHEN I WAS GOING LESS THAN 5 MPH. CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH TRAFFIC TRYING TO GET BY. I SLOWED DOWN BECAUSE THERE WERE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME MAKING TURNS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE ALTERNATOR BURNED UP. THE BATTERY IS DAMAGED AS WELL. THIS SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE TWO RECALLS NAMED "ALTERNATOR MAY FAIL RESULTING IN ENGINE STALL". NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AND JEEP CUSTOMER CARE ABOUT THIS AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY CAN FIX THIS RECALL BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY SAY THE REPAIRS WILL COME OUT OF MY POCKET. AFTER THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED ABOUT A YEAR AGO I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN SHUTOFF AND LOSS OF STEERING. I FEEL THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND I REFUSE TO TAKE THAT RISK.
THE SEATBELT, AFTER BEING PULLED OUT FOR BUCKLING, WILL NOT RETRACT BACK INTO THE HOLDER.
REAR HATCH TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY ALLOWS WATER/WINDOW WASH FLUID INTO ASSEMBLY CAUSING THE LIGHT TO FAIL. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR IN MOTION.
JEEP FAILED TO START FOR WEEKS WITHOUT A JUMP START. REPLACED BATTERY TWICE AND ALTERNATOR ONCE; THIRD BATTERY REPLACEMENT DURING 11.15.2017 REPAIRS. TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TIPM) FOUND TO BE FAULTY. SAFETY ISSUES ARE A MAJOR CONCERN, AS THE TIPM IS CRITICAL FOR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE.

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V643000 (SEAT BELTS, AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE SUNROOF TEMPERED GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED SHATTERING GLASS DOWN ON THE DRIVER WHILE DRIVING ON A THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. THERE WERE NO BRIDGES AND IT WAS LIGHT TRAFFIC. DRIVER WAS IN SHOCK AND ALMOST CRASHED. CAR INTERIOR IS FILLED WITH GLASS. THERE ARE NO MARKS ON CAR TO INDICATE A FOREIGN OBJECT CAUSED THE GLASS TO SHATTER.
THE SUNROOF ON MY 2014 JEEP GRANDE CHEROKEE SRT SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED AS I WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON INTERSTATE 5 IN OREGON. TRAFFIC WAS MINIMAL AT 3:45 PM. IT WAS 54 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND THE WEATHER WAS CLEAR. IT HAD RAINED EARLIER IN THE DAY. THE EXPLOSION SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT BLAST IN MY EAR. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING, NO CRACKS, NO LEAKS. I DID HAVE THE AUTOMATIC COVER OPEN TO LET LIGHT IN, BUT THE SUNROOF ITSELF WAS CLOSED. THE GLASS EXPLODED UP AND OUT, SO I AM FORTUNATE THAT I ONLY HAD A DUSTING OF GLASS THAT FELL AROUND ME. DEFINITELY, THE MOST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WHILE DRIVING.
THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT SYSTEM SUDDENLY DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY ON CITY STREETS, AND WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A COLLISION OF ANY KIND. PLASTIC RETAINING CLIPS NOW VISIBLE INSIDE THE HEADREST APPEAR TO HAVE FAILED, PREVENTING RESETTING.
WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP, THE ALTERNATOR SHORTED AND STALLED THE CAR. ALL POWER WAS LOST TO THE ENGINE STEERING AND LIGHTS JUST AS I WAS CROSSING A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. I WAS ABLE TO ROLL THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHERE THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. ALTERNATOR BEGAN TO SMOKE HEAVILY. COMPLICATING MATTERS, THE CAR HAS A FULLY ELECTRONIC SHIFTING MECHANISM PREVENTING ME FROM PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHING IT OFF THE ROAD. IT SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROAD UNTIL A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED.
FUEL PUMP FAILURE AT 1/4 TANK OF GAS. OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A LEFT OUT OF A PARKING LOT. SUDDENLY NO FORWARD PROPULSION OF VEHICLE WHEN PRESSING GAS, IN THE MIDDLE OF EXITING THE PARKING LOT. CLEARED THE LEFT TURN WITH SLOW FORWARD MOMENTUM AND CAR SHUT OFF AFTER MANEUVERING TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. CAR UNABLE TO START AFTER THAT. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER ADVISED OF SECONDARY FUEL PUMP FAILURE, WHICH ASSISTS WHEN LESS THAN 1/4 TANK OF GAS AVAILABLE. A SEARCH OF FORUMS INDICATES OTHERS HAVING A SIMILAR PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS (BAYSIDE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE, 21219 NORTHERN BLVD, QUEENS, NY 11361, (718) 229-8700) AND (MAJOR WORLD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 43-40 NORTHERN BLVD, LONG ISLAND CITY, NY 11101, 1-(866) 614-2884). ONE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THE OTHER DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT *TR
THE ACTIVE HEAD REST FOR MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAD SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE. I HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND I WAS TOLD THE PLASTIC CLIPS WERE BROKEN AND IT COULDN'T BE RESET AND THE HEAD REST NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT A VEHICLE RECALL ISSUE BUT POSSIBLY SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AS ONE. I HAVE FOLLOWED UP THIS TYPE OF ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND MULTIPLE CASES WITH SIMILAR OR THE EXACT TYPE OF ISSUE. THIS POSES A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD, IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING, AND THE HEADREST DEPLOYED IN THIS MANNER IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM (NOTABLY TANK FILLER AND RELATED EMISSIONS EQUIPMENT) POORLY DESIGNED TO FAIL JUST AFTER CALIFORNIA 50K MILEAGE WARRANTY. DEALER WANTS $800 TO FIX A PROBLEM THE MFG. DESIGNED. ALTERNATOR RECALL-WITH NO RELATED PARTS TO REPAIR-DRIVING AND WAITING FOR THE VEHICLE TO ERUPT INTO A BALL OF FIRE IS UNACCEPTABLE. WHAT COMPONENTS ARE BEING INSTALLED ON 2018 MODELS? WHY CAN'T THOSE PARTS BE INSTALLED ON MY 2014? I AM BEING PREJUDICED AGAINST, AS I CANNOT LEGALLY (THANKS TO AB 217) TRADE THE VEHICLE IN, AS NO DEALER CAN RESELL IT WITH AN OPEN SAFETY RECALL!! I NEED TO GET ANOTHER CAR-BUT I CAN'T!!!!
I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY (AS I JUST GOT HOME FROM WORK) TALKING TO MY DAUGHTER AND HER FATHER (WHO WERE PARKED TO MY DRIVERS SIDE GETTING READY TO LEAVE IN ANOTHER VEHICLE) WHEN WE ALL HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND SOMETHING HIT THE SIDE OF MY HEAD VERY HARD. THE ACTIVATED HEAD REST SHOT OPEN FOR NO REASON AT ALL. THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND NOBODY WAS IN THE VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR ME.THERE WAS NO IMPACT OR ANYONE TOUCHING THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE EITHER. I AM FORTUNATE THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH THE IMPACT OF THE HEADREST HITTING MY HEAD.
ENGINE FAILED. THE ENGINE (5.7L HEMI) FAILED IN MIDDLE OF SIX LANE ROAD. FORTUNATELY NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AROUND VEHICLE WHEN ENGINE FAILED. IF THIS HAPPENED ON INTERSTATE IT COULD HAVE A SUBSTANTIAL SAFETY RISK. MECHANIC REPORTED THE ENGINE LOST A ROD AND DAMAGED THE BLOCK. SINCE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY, THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. ONLY 47000 MILES ON ENGINE.
WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND MY AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, IN WHICH I SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET DRIVING FORWARD.
SEVERAL MONTHS AGO ALL POWER ON MY JEPP CUT OFF AS I WAS DRIVING ON A 55 MPH TWO LANE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RE-START THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY DID A "COMPUTER UPGRADE" WHICH THEY SAID RESOLVED THE ISSUE. SINCE THAT TIME THE VEHICLE HAS OPERATED CORRECTLY. I 'M CURRENTLY ON A ROAD TRIP FROM PUNTA GORDA, FL TO PANAMA CITY, FL - SOME 500 MILES FROM MY HOME. OVER THE PAST TWO DAYS, THE VEHICLE HAS COMPLETELY LOST POST FIVE TIMES WHILE IN MOTION, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAVELING ON I-75 AT 70 MPH. I CALLED THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP IN PANAMA CITY, AND THEY INDICATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME BECAUSE THEY ALREADY HAD SEVERAL CARS SITTING ON THEIR LOT (THAT DRIVERS WOULD NOT OPERATE) BECAUSE OF THE SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE. THEY WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE A RENTAL CAR, NOR HAD ANY TIMEFRAME AVAILABLE FOR RESOLUTION OF THIS ISSUE. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE POSITION OF BEING 500 MILES FROM HOME, WHILE I AM SCHEDULED TO ASSIST WITH PLACING AN ELDERLY AUNT AND AND UNCLE IN AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY ON WEDNESDAY. I CALLED THE JEEP CUSTOMER CARE LINE, AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD ASSIGN A "CASE MANAGER" TO LOOK AT MY SITUATION, BUT I HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE FROM THEM THUS FAR. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS IS THE SIXTH RECALL THAT I RECEIVED ON A VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN FOUR YEARS OLD. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. *JS
FCA AND NHTSA HAVE ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE THAT EXPLAINS THAT THE ALTERNATOR MAY FAIL, RESULTING IN STALLING OR POSSIBLY FIRE. IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT REPLACEMENT OF THE ALTERNATOR IS NECESSARY IN AFFECTED VEHICLES. THIS WON'T TAKE PLACE UNTIL 2018 BECAUSE OF PARTS AVAILABILITY. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE TENS, OR POSSIBLY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF THESE VEHICLES WILL POSE AN ENORMOUS SAFETY RISK FOR OCCUPANTS OF THESE VEHICLES, AND OTHER VEHICLES SHARING THE ROAD WITH THEM. THIS RECALL REPAIR NEEDS TO BE EXPEDITED IN A MUCH MORE TIMELY MANNER. FCA NEEDS TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE RISKS THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE BEING EXPOSED TO BECAUSE OF THE DELAY IN MAKING THIS REPAIR. THE PASSENGER SIDE SAFETY BELT BECAME JAMMED WHILE DRIVING. MY PASSENGER WAS TRYING TO RELEASE THE BELT BECAUSE IT BECAME PAINFUL. I HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND ASSIST MY (ADULT) PASSENGER TO TRY TO GET THE SAFETY BELT RELEASED. ONCE WE WERE ABLE TO FREE THE BELT IT WOULD NOT RETRACT BACK OR LATCH PROPERLY. MY PASSENGER MOVED TO THE BACK SEAT TO USE THE SAFETY BELT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE. THIS JEEP HAS ALSO COMPLETELY SATURATED ME WITH GASOLINE AND SHUT DOWN A SERVICE STATION. THE GASOLINE SOAKED MY HAIR, FACE, AND BODY. AS A RESULT THROUGH THE STATE OF VERMONT I RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM MOPAR TO RELIEVE ANY CONCERNS I MAY HAVE ABOUT SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE ONCE THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. CHRYSLER AND MOPAR HAVE CHARGED ME 100.00 DEDUCTIBLE TO REPAIR A FAULTY SAFETY BELT. IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY THAT CHRYSLER REPAIR THE SAFETY BELT AT NO CHARGE. NOT ONLY DID IT PUT MY PASSENGER IN JEOPARDY, HOW EFFECTIVE ARE THE BELTS IN MY VEHICLE IF ONE IS ALREADY BROKEN AFTER ONLY 3.5 YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO SHOW ME HOW MUCH THE REPAIR COST. I AM OPENING A CASE WITH THE BBB IN ADDITION TO FILING THIS SAFETY REPORT. MY PASSENGER'S SHOULDER AND NECK WERE SORE AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT BUT NO SERIOUS MEDICAL SITUATION OCCURRED. IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. ALL POWER SHUT OFF ON CAR. CAR COULD NOT BE PUT IN NUETRAL TO MOVE OFF ROAD. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. TOW COMPANY AND CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS AN ALTERNATOR PROBLEM.

PERHAPS RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUE, A FEW MINUTES AFTER THIS INCIDENT THE COMPUTER ALSO DISPLAYED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING THAT THE AUTOMATIC WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY
DRIVER SEATBELT DOES NOT RETRACT TO TIGHTEN ON DRIVER WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! ADDITIONALLY, NONE OF THE CONTROLS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL WORK EVER; CRUISE CONTROL, PARK ASSIST, LANE DEPARTURE WARNING, ETC.
ACTIVE HEADREST ON PASSENGER HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT CAUSE. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT AND ONLY NOTICED THE HEADREST HAD BECOME LOOSE. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY'D INDICATED THAT THE ACTIVE HEADREST HAD DEPLOYED. AFTER OPENING A CASE WITH JEEP CHRYSLER THEY HAVE REFUSED TO CORRECT IT. THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF CASES FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE WHICH POSES A HUGE SAFETY RISK. DEALERSHIP IS REQUESTING OVER $800 TO REPAIR WHAT IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT WITH THE NUMBER OF OTHERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY OUT OF A FAST FOOD PARKING LOT AND APPROACHED THE EXIT INTENDING TO TURN RIGHT ONTO THE ROAD. I SAW THERE WAS ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND APPLIED MY BRAKES TO STOP AND WAIT FOR THE TRAFFIC TO PASS. I'M POSITIVE THAT I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, BUT INSTEAD OF STOPPING, MY CAR SURGED FORWARD INTO THE ROAD AND INTO THE PATH OF A SEMI TRUCK. THE BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING. I STARTED TO REACH FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, BUT I HAD ALREADY HIT THE SEMI- TRUCK BY THEN. THE FIRST IMPACT HAPPENED ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR, THEN THE CAR SPUN AROUND AND THE SECOND IMPACT HIT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR, THE CAR CONTINUED TO SPIN AROUND AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A UTILITY POLE NEXT TO THE ENTRANCE/EXIT OF THE FAST FOOD RESTAURANT. FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS INJURED OR KILLED. I AM 100% CERTAIN THAT SOME KIND OF MALFUNCTION HAPPENED WITH MY CAR. I KNOW I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I'VE HAD SEVERAL RECALLS ON THIS JEEP FOR REPAIRS AND SOFTWARE UPDATES, AND I BELIEVE AT LEAST A COUPLE OF THEM WERE RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, I SEARCHED THE NHTSA WEBSITE, AND I FOUND SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THE 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SURGING FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THERE ARE ALSO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS MODEL GRAND CHEROKEE HAVING MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, POWER TRAIN, AND BRAKE SYSTEMS. I HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT TO JEEP ABOUT THE ACCIDENT.

ON 9-08-2017, MY WIFE AND I WERE RETURNING TO PFAFFTOWN, NC FROM GARDEN CITY, SC. A FEW MILES INTO THE DRIVE I THOUGHT I HEARD A HIGH PITCHED SOUND, BUT COULD NOT LOCATE IT. THEN WE THOUGHT WE SMELLED SOMETHING HOT, BUT THOUGHT IS WAS AN OLD TRUCK AHEAD OF US, BUT A FEW MILES LATER I GOT A LOW VOLTAGE SIGN AND TOLD MY WIFE TO CAR THE NEAREST JEEP DEALERSHIP AS WE HAD ENTERED CONWAY, SC. HAVING SOME BASIC ENGINE KNOWLEDGE I KNEW THE ALTERNATOR WASN'T CHARGING THE BATTERY AND THAT I WOULD LOSE ALL POWER. LUCKILY FOR US THE DEALERSHIP WAS LESS THAN 1.5 MILES AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO IT. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD I FOUND THE ALTERNATOR SMOKING AND ALMOST HOT ENOUGH TO CATCH FIRE DUE TO OVERCHARGING. LUCKILY THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR AND WE WERE ON OUR WAS HOME IN ABOUT AN HOUR, BUT WITH A $806.00 COST FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD 74109 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WHEN I GOT HOME MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES FOR EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEN TO MINE. I CHECKED THIS WEBSITE AND FIAT/ CHRYSLER AND FOUND MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. I ALSO TALKED TO A NICE CHRYSLER REPRESENTATIVE OVER THE PHONE. SHE ALSO SAID THAT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED. IT JUST SEEMS TO ME THAT MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS THE SAME MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR AS THOSE UNDER RECALL, AND HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM ADDRESSED BY THE RECALL SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE RECALL. AND NOTE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CLOSE TO LOSING ALL ELECTRICAL POWER, WHICH AFFECTS THE STEERING AND TRANSMISSION ON THESE VEHICLES AND I COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL.

I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES ALREADY. I HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 3 MONTHS. ABOUT A MONTH OF THAT I HAVEN'T DRIVEN IT. BECAUSE ITS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR SO LONG. ITS SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE ARE SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAD THOUGHT I HAD BOUGHT A RELIABLE CAR BUT IT SEEMS THAT 30K HAS GONE TO WASTE AND MY HOOPTY WAS MORE RELIABLE. THE ENGINE ALSO SHAKES AND SOMETIMES IT'S STUCK IN THIRD GEAR! ITS EMBARRASSING AND SCARY TO PULL OUT IN FLOWING TRAFFIC. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON BEFORE BUT I HAVE STILL NOT "MET" THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. WITH THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND WHEN TRAFFIC IS CLEAR RELEASE THE BRAKE AND DEPRESS ACCELERATOR PEDAL INTERMITTENTLY I GET THE MESSAGE " SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" AT THAT PRECISE MOMENT, THERE IS NO ACCELERATOR, VEHICLE MAY MOVE AHEAD SLOWLY FROM AN IDLE BUT THAT IS IT. WHEN THE MESSAGE GOES AWAY THE THROTTLE RESPONDS NORMAL. THE LAST 3 TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED I WAS COASTING DOWN HILL WITH MY FOOT OFF BOTH PEDALS.I HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALER SHIP SEVERAL TIMES. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER 2 YEARS NOW. BECAUSE I CAN NOT SHOW THEM THE ISSUE, WHEN I TAKE IT IN, THEY DO NOTHING.
THE TOUCH SCREEN PANEL FOR MY RADIO GOES OUT AND DOES NOT ALLOW THE RADIO TO PLAY WHILE DRIVING AND WHEN FIRST STARTED. SOMETIMES MY BLUETOOTH DOESN'T CONNECT AT ALL. THREE MONTHS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED THE SIRIUS RADIO STOPPED WORKING AND I WAS FORCED TO CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION. THE STATIONS CAME UP BUT NOTHING WOULD COME OUT OF THE SPEAKERS WHEN I WOULD SELECT THE BUTTONS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $600 TO GET A NEW RADIO IF I REALLY WANTED THE SATELLITE RADIO. THEY SAID THE ANTENNA FOR THE SATELLITE RADIO HAD BURNT OUT. MY CAR WAS BARELY 3 1/2 YEARS OLD AT THAT TIME. SOMETIMES WHEN I CONNECT MY PHONE IT DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO SWITCH SONGS UNLESS I CHANGE IT THROUGH MY PHONE. THE WHOLE RADIO, BLUETOOTH, MEDIA SECTIONS ON MY TOUCH SCREEN HAVE GLITCHES.

THIS HOUSING IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND EXPOSED TO HEAT WHILE DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE ENGINE- THE PLASTIC AND ITS ANGLE RELATIVE TO THE ENGINE LENDS ITSELF TO THE LACK OF DURABILITY OF THE COMPONENT. SINCE THE CARTRIDGE OIL FILTER SITS AT AN ANGLE, PRESSURE IS APPLIED AT THE SHOULDER CAUSING CRACKS AROUND THE HOUSING DURING TIGHTENING AT OIL CHANGES. THE PLASTIC NEEDS TO BE MADE THICKER OR MADE OUT OF SOME DIFFERENT AND MORE DURABLE MATERIAL. FURTHER, THE CONSUMER NEEDS TO BE NOTIFIED THAT THIS IS A REAL ISSUE AND CAN APPEAR TO BE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA WHEN IN FACT IT IS NOT. DEFINITELY NOT SAFE THAT AN UNWITTING DRIVER CAN FIND THEMSELVES OUT OF OIL POSSIBLY IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I AM WILLING TO SUBMIT PHOTOS ONCE I AM ABLE TO REPLACE THIS.
VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH 'ACTIVE HEADRESTS' WHICH ARE INTENDED TO DEPLOY IN EVENT OF COLLISION. FRONT PASSENGER HEADREST MALFUNCTIONED AND DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING AND UNOCCUPIED. FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS RARELY OCCUPIED AND VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A COLLISION. THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS OF THE HEADREST ARE BROKEN AND IT CANNOT BE RESET. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO OFFER ASSISTANCE FOR THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY COMPONENT GIVEN THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. GIVEN THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEPEND ON, THE FACT THAT THE FRONT SEAT IS RARELY OCCUPIED AND THEREFORE BEEN SUBJECTED TO MINIMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THAT MY RESEARCH FINDS THIS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH JEEP VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THIS FEATURE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED RAPIDLY AND THERE WAS A HIGH PITCHED NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT NOTICED A BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY VOLTAGE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DECELERATE. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND CONTACTED AAA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, BUT THE BATTERY COULD NOT BE TESTED BECAUSE IT WAS LOCATED UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AN UNKNOWN JEEP DEALER IN HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS BEING INVESTIGATED AND THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) MAY EXPAND TO INCLUDE THE CONTACT'S VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,400.
TRANSMISSION HAS VERY DELAYED SHIFTING. SOMETIMES IF FEELS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION GOES INTO NEUTRAL BY ITSELF.I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND HAD NO POWER AS IF I WAS IN NEUTRAL. ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT
I GOT IN MY CAR ONE EVENING AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT WAS POPPED OPEN. APPARENTLY THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS SITTING IN MY GARAGE. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT AND THIS SEAT VERY RARELY HAS ANYONE SITTING IN IT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, THE SERVICE REP. SAID THE CHRYSLER REP. WAS THERE THAT DAY. THE SERVICE REP. CAME BACK TO ME A LITTLE WHILE LATER AND SAID, "APPARENTLY THIS IS HAPPENING QUITE A BIT. THE CHRYSLER REP. HAS YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION. THEY WILL INVESTIGATE AND GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU." OVER A WEEK LATER, THEY FINALLY SENT AN E-MAIL SAYING THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE PART BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE THAT HAS FAILED!!! OTHERS HAVE POSTED ON THE INTERNET THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEM, SOME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD! I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINTS!!! NOT ONLY IS A BROKEN ONE GOING TO FAIL TO PROTECT SOMEONE IN A WRECK, BUT ONE POPPING OPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD CAN CAUSE A WRECK! THE PLASTIC PARTS INSIDE THE HEAD RESTRAINT ARE APPARENTLY NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE TENSION THAT IS PLACED ON THEM. CHRYSLER SHOULD REPLACE THESE DEFECTIVE SAFETY DEVICES!
ON AUGUST 4, 2017 AFTER STARTING MY JEEP AND DRIVING AWAY FROM PARKING SPACE I HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL WHEN TRYING TO STOP - FORTUNATELY I WASN'T GOING MORE THAN 25 MPH WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM - I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A CURB AND STOP. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING AND NO WARNING LIGHTS AND THE BRAKES SEEMED OK THE NIGHT BEFORE WHEN I PARKED THE CAR. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THEY CHARGED ME $718.54 TO INSTALL A NEW POWER BRAKE BOOSTER WHICH THEY SAID WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE JEEP HAD 42834 MILES AT THE TIME. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON I-25 WHICH IS WHERE I WAS HEADING I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP AT ALL.
