NO CONTACT FROM DEALER TO REPAIR DEFECT FROM S27 RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
WAS REVERSING WITH MY SMALL BOAT ATTACHED AT THE LAKE PRIOR TO LAUNCHING. PUT JEEP IN PARK TO STEP OUT AND CHECK HOW MUCH ROOM I HAD. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO REVERSE, KNOCKING ME UNDERNEATH THE OPEN DRIVERS DOOR. STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A TREE ABOUT 10 FEET AWAY. I HAD FRONT TIRE MARK ON MY BACK, PRETTY SCRATCHED UP AND BRUISED, PULLED MUSCLES ETC. VISITED THE DOCTOR FOR A CHECK-UP.
EVERYONE IS COMPLAINING THE SHIFTERS ARE DEFECTIVE. THEY ARE NOT, THE COMPUTER HAS THE ULTIMATE CONTROL OF THE DODGE JEEP AND CHRYSLER SHIFTERS BE IT A KNOB OR A ONE IN THE JEEP. IF THE CAR IS ROLLING IN ANYWAY THE COMPUTER WILL NOT PUT THE CAR IN PARK. THE DRIVER CAN MAKE THE PROPER MOTION BUT THE COMPUTER WILL DECIDE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL BECAUSE OF THE MOVEMENT. THERE IS MINIMAL INDICATION OF THE COMPUTER OVERRIDING THE DRIVERS MOTION. THE DRIVER THEN GOES TO TURN OFF THE CAR WITH A PUSH BUTTON, ONCE AGAIN THE COMPUTER DECIDES THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL SO THE WILL NOT TURN THE CAR OFF ESSENTIALLY MAKING THE PUSH BUTTON INOPERABLE. THE REASON FOR THE ACCIDENTS IS BECAUSE PEOPLE MAKE THE MOVEMENT WITH THE CAR ROLLING AND THEN THE COMPUTER OVERRIDES THE DRIVER AND THEN OVER RIDES THE SECOND TIME WITH TURNING THE CAR OFF. PEOPLE GET OUT OF THE CAR EXPECTING THE CAR TO BE OFF AND AFTER PARTIALLY STEPPING OUT OR PARTIALLY STEPPING OUT DISCOVER THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING AND IF THERE IS ANY KIND OF AN INCLINE...LITERALLY RUNNING AWAY AND THEY CHASE THE CAR. I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME BUT MY SON REALIZED THE CAR WAS RUNNING. I TOLD THE DEALER THEY SAID I MADE A MISTAKE I SAID NO I DIDN'T AND THEN WAS ON A MISSION. ON THE RECALL NOTICE THE LAST LINE STATE THAT THE CAR WILL NOT GO INTO PARK IF THE CAR IS GOING ABOVE A CERTAIN SPEED THAT IS THE SAME A SLIGHT ROLL. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT I HAVE MAKE A CALL TO CHRYSLER BUT NO ONE COULD LISTEN. THINK ABOUT IT THE FIX WAS FOR THE COMPUTER TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK IF THE DOOR OPENS WITHOUT DRIVER INPUT. THE COMPUTER CAN SLAM ON THE BRAKES IF A LEAF BLOW INFRONT OF ONE OF THE FRONT SENSORS AND I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED ON THAT ONE. THESE VEHICLES AND THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING HAVE TAKEN VITAL FUNCTIONS AWAY FROM THE DRIVER BUT THEY DIDN'T EXPLAIN THAT TO ME WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR! THAT IS WHY DODGE TRUCKS DO THE SAMETHING
ON TWO OCCASIONS, TWO WEEKS APART, THE ACTIVE BRAKING FEATURE FUNCTIONED WITHOUT OBVIOUS EXTERNAL CAUSE. IN BOTH CASES, THE ACTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM CAUSED THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) TO ACTIVATE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP ABRUPTLY. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION APPLIES TO BOTH INSTANCES: 1. FORWARD COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM (FCW) IS ON. 2.FCW IS SET TO NEAR 3.ACTIVE BRAKING FEATURE SET TO ON. 4.VEHICLE SPEED APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH 5.ASPHALT FOUR LANE ROAD WITHOUT DIVIDER 6.DAYLIGHT, SUNNY, TEMPERATURE ABOUT 80 DEGREES F 7.NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OR ON EITHER SIDE. 8.NO VEHICLES APPROACHING. 9.NO OBSTACLES OR PERTURBATIONS ON ROAD SURFACE. SECOND OCCASION OCCURRED AFTER DEALER HAD INSTALLED LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR ALL COMPONENTS. DEALER HAS INSPECTED AND DRIVEN THE VEHICLE. NO DEFECT CODES WERE FOUND. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE EVENT.
THE SHIFTER PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED BUT I READ ABOUT THE PROPOSED SOLUTION AND FROM MY EXPERIENCE THAT WILL ONLY FIX PART OF THE PROBLEM. UNLESS THE DRIVER IS PAYING CLOSE ATTENTION THE VEHICLE MAY NOT BE IN PARK. BUT IT IS ALSO VERY EASY TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL. THE NEAR MISS I HAD WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT THAT HAD AN INCLINE TO A VERY BUST STREET. I THOUGHT I WAS IDLING TO THE EASE OF THE STREET BUT I WAS ACTUALLY IN NEUTRAL. WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE TO PULL ONTO THE STREET THE CAR ROLLED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC BUT OBVIOUSLY DID NOT EXCELLERATE WHEN I HIT THE THROTTLE. SCRAMBLING TO GET THE CAR IN GEAR IT TOOK A FEW PRESCIOUS SECONDS TO REALIZE YOU HAVE TO PUSH ON THE BRAKE IN ORDER FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT. TOO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT IN THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES. THE SHIFTER IS GOING TO GET OTHERS KILLED UNLESS A COMPLETE NEW SYSTEM IS INSTALLED. THIS CAR HAS MANY GREAT SAFETY FEATURES BUT IN MANY CASES THERE JUST ISN'T ENOUGH TIME TO REACT. I'M A 40 YEAR EXPERIENCED LICENSED DRIVER WITH CLASS A CDL. A DRIVER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CONCENTRATE ON THE SHIFTER. IT SHOULD BE A NATURAL MOTION. THIS IS A TICKING TIME BOMB THAT MUST BE REPAIRED OR IT WILL CAUSE MORE ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT AN ALARM THAT TELLS THE DRIVER THE CAR IS OR IS NOT IN PARK WILL ONLY FIX PART OF THE PROBLEM. I ROUTINELY FIND MYSELF IN THE WRONG GEAR. JEEP IS TRYING TO FIND A CHEAP WAY OUT THAT IS JUST NOT GOING TO WORK.
THIS MORNING, WHILE TRAVELING SOUTH BOUND ON US 931 IN KOKOMO, IN MY SUNROOF IN MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE EXPLODED. THE GLASS SHATTERED AFTER MAKING WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A HAND GUN GOING OFF NEXT TO ME. DURING MY DRIVE, ALL WINDOWS WERE UP AND THE AC WAS ON. THERE WERE NO CRACKS IN THE GLASS BEFORE THE "EXPLOSION."
THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER THAT HAS BEEN IN THE NEWS LATELY. I HAVE READ THAT, FINALLY, CHRYSLER IS ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM. THE SOLUTION THEY HAVE COME UP WITH, TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK IF THE DRIVER'S DOOR IS OPENED, DOES NOT SUFFICE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. HERE IS WHY: I HAVE HAD THE SITUATION, WHERE I PULL MY CAR INTO MY GARAGE WHICH IS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. MY KIDS JUMP OUT OF THE CAR, AND WALK AROUND THE BACK TO GET INTO THE HOUSE. AS IS OFTEN THE CASE, I HAVE A FEW THINGS TO GATHER UP, SO I AM NOT AS QUICK TO EXIT THE CAR AS THEY ARE. KIDS ARE BEHIND THE CAR AND I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR STARTS ROLLING BACKWARD WHILE THE KIDS ARE BEHIND IT. IT IS ONLY BY EXTREME LUCK THAT I DID NOT KILL BOTH MY CHILDREN. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD, THAT EVEN THOUGH I AM PAINFULLY AWARE OF THE SITUATION WITH THE SHIFTER, AND I AM EXTREMELY DILIGENT, YOU CAN BECOME DISTRACTED AND FORGET. FOR THE RECORD, I HAVE SENT MESSAGES TO CHRYSLER (SPECIFICALLY, WHEN THEY SENT THEIR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION SURVEY AFTER I FIRST RECEIVED THE CAR) THAT MENTIONS THIS AS A PROBLEM. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER'S ATTENTION. NO RESPONSE. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM. THE SECOND I READ ABOUT THAT YOUNG MAN GETTING KILLED IN LA I SAID TO MY SON THAT I WOULD GUARANTEE HE WAS DRIVING A JEEP. I HAVE BEEN SAYING SOMEONE WAS GOING TO GET KILLED FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS, AND NOW SOMEONE HAS. AND, I WOULD BE WILLING TO BET THERE ARE OTHERS WHO JUST DIDN'T REALIZE WHY OR WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. PLEASE REQUIRE THEM TO MAKE A BETTER FIX AND TO CALL EACH AND EVERY JEEP OWNER AND VERBALLY DESCRIBE THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DON'T READ THEIR MAIL, WHO DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH ETC. DRIVING AT 65 MPH ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY, WITH THE AUTOMATIC BREAKING SYSTEM TURNED OFF, THE CAR SUDDENLY SKIDDED TO A COMPLETE STOP.
PULLED THE VEHICLE INTO PERSONAL GARAGE TO CHANGE OIL. PLACED VEHICLE IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK (ELECTRONIC SHIFTER) AND THE DOOR HIT THE DRIVER AND THEN CAUGHT THE CEMENT WALL OF THE GARAGE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP. CAUSED $1200 WORTH OF BODY DAMAGE TO LOWER DRIVER SIDE DOOR.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE TO ENSURE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF THE FAILURE WOULD RANDOMLY OCCUR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. A PART OF THE FUEL PICKUP TUBE WAS NOTED MISSING WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON JUNE 3,2016. I PAID FOR THE DEALER, WEST HERR DODGE IN ORCHARD PARK, NY TO ORDER THE PART THAT DAY. I CALLED SEVERAL TIMES TO SEE IF THE PART WAS IN, INCLUDING TODAY AND WAS TOLD IT WASN'T. I WAS ALSO TOLD THERE ARE OVER 1700 OF THESE PARTS ON BACK ORDER , WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS FURTHER LOOKING INTO , ESPECIALLY AT A COST OF OVER $350.

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STRUCK A BYSTANDER. THE BYSTANDER SUSTAINED ARM INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MY EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT IS FLASHING ON MY DASH BOARD, AND IT IS MAKING A CHIMING NOISE WHEN FLASHING AS I DRIVE MY JEEP. THE MAIN ISSUE OTHER THAN HAVING IT GOING ON AND OFF SOME TIME A FEW TIME A DAY SOMETIMES NOT FOR A WEEK THAN A FEW DAYS IN A ROW IS THAT WHEN I AM ON AN OPEN HIGHWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON DOING 70 MPH THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL SHUT OFF EVERY TIME IT FLASHES. I FELL THE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN YOUR CRUISE CONTROLS SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE DEALER HAS NOT CORRECTED THIS ISSUE. I JUST GOT A RECALL NOTICE TO DAY S27/NHTSA 16V-240 TO MAKE SURE MY VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND FOOT BRAKE ON. MY FOOT BRAKES SAYS IT IS ON AT 70 MPH WHEN IT IS NOT ON. THIS HAPPENED A LOT TODAY ON MY TRIP, BUT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR
RECALL S27/NHTSA 16V-240 OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS DAMAGED IN A ROLLAWAY ACCIDENT ON MAY 20, 2016 FOR THE SPECIFIC ISSUE RELATED TO THIS RECALL. MY WIFE THOUGHT THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE THEN PROCEEDED TO ROLL DOWN THE STREET AND INTO THE WOODS. THE INSURANCE ESTIMATE FOR DAMAGE WAS $7,000. LUCKY NO ONE WAS INJURED OR KILLED. I CONTACTED FCA AND THEY SENT OUT A SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR TO LOOK AT THE CAR. I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FCA SAYING THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I HAVE TRIED TO REACH OUT TO THE PERSON WHO SENT THE LETTER AND CAN NOT GET A RETURN CALL.
MY WIFE PULLED THE CAR INTO A COMMUNITY PARK AND PUT THE JEEP IN PARK AND OPENED THE DOOR TO GRAB HER SONS LOST DOG. NEXT THING SHE KNOWS THE JEEP IS ROLLING, AND PROCEEDS TO RUN HER OVER AND CONTINUES DOWN A SMALL HILL INTO SOME TREES. SHE WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL VIA A 911 CALL AND WE ARE NOW WAITING FOR RESULTS FROM AN MRI. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE KILLED HER IF SHE DIDN'T GET HER HEAD OUT OF THE WAY.
I HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH MY 2017 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A PERIOD OF 17 MONTHS. MY PROBLEM STARTED IN MAY, 2016 WHEN MY NAVIGATION SYSTEM FAILED BY GIVING ME THE WRONG INFORMATION BY INSTRUCTING ME TO TURN INTO A ONE WAY (WRONG WAY) TRAFFIC LANE. THIS HAS SINCE HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE THEN BY DIRECTING ME INCORRECTLY. THE COMPLETE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, CLOCK & COMPASS, PERIODICALLY DON'T WORK. ON OCCASION I RECEIVE THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE ON MY VEHICLE'S COMPUTER SCREEN "VEHICLE PHONE REQUIRES SERVICE PLEASE CONTACT YOUR DEALER." AFTER NUMEROUS APPOINTMENTS WITH THE DEALER & TELLING THEM THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT WITH MY PHONE THEY FINALLY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND GAVE ME AN 800 NUMBER TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER SERVICE. AFTER NUMEROUS DISCUSSIONS WITH VARIOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE OVER A PERIOD OF TWO MONTHS, ON 9/28/2017 CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON PATRICIA SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THAT A "JEEP SERVICE BULLETIN #08-028-17 WITH UPDATES TO SOFTWARE LEVEL 17.11.07 WILL OCCUR IN A PHASED ROLL-OUT AND MAYBE THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY." THEY TOLD ME I WOULD RECEIVE DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS BUT COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN THESE INSTRUCTIONS WOULD BE SENT OUT. THE SYSTEM WILL WORK PERIODICALLY BUT FAILS MORE OFTEN THAN NOT. YESTERDAY I WAS AGAIN USING THE NAVIGATION IN AN AREA THAT I UNFAMILIAR WITH AND THE SYSTEM AGAIN TRIED TO ROUTE ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING AND MITIGATION - ENGAGED ON A CLEAR DAY, AT FREEWAY SPEED (55 MPH), WITH NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME OR BESIDE ME. MY CAR BRAKED HARD AND THE 'BRAKE!' FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN. IF THERE HAD BEEN A CAR BEHIND ME, I WOULD'VE BEEN REAR ENDED.
THIS MORNING5/16/16 I TURNED MY GRAND CHEROKEE ON,PROCEEDED TO DRIVE TO WORK, I FELT THAT THE CAR WAS NOT CHANGING GEARS, IT HESITATES AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AN OFF,AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 4 MILES THE CAR STOPPED AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT ME CHANGING GEARS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAVE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER MORE THAN ONE TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, WHICH INCLUDE: SELF-ACCELARATION WHILE DRIVING, STALLING IN HIGH WAY, AND FEW OTHER RECALLS FROM THE COMPANY. IT HAS BEEN A NIGHT MARE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS 2014 GRAND CHEROKEE, ONE PROBLEM AFTER THE OTHER! MORE THAN DISSAPOINTED WITH THIS CAR.
DRIVING APPROX. 20 MPH IN CITY TRAFFIC, CAR IN FRONT STOPPED SUDDENLY. I TRIED TO APPLY BRAKES AND THE AUTO-BRAKING SYSTEM ALSO FLASHED ON DASHBOARD TO "BRAKE!" BUT WHEN I TRIED TO, THE BRAKES WERE NOT AS RESPONSIVE AS USUAL. I APPLIED TREMENDOUS PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL (SO MUCH SO THAT MY FOOT STILL HURTS OVER A WEEK LATER) AND THE BRAKES DID NOT REACT AS THEY TYPICALLY DO, SO I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME.
VEHICLE FAILED SUDDENLY WHILE TURNING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION (CITY DRIVING). VEHICLE SYSTEMS REPORTED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MODULE FAILURE, ELECTRONIC BARKING SYSTEM FAILURE, AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE, VEHICLE SENSOR FAILURE ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON.
THE ACCELERATION SOMETIMES DOESN'T SLOW DOWN EVEN WHEN YOU BRAKE. I ALMOST CRASHED ONTO ANOTHER CAR
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT WITH OUR 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE BACKSEAT. AT THAT TIME THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. SHE CALLED ME IN A PANIC. I CALLED THE JEEP DEALER WHO CAME AND TOWED THE VEHICLE IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN THE SHOP AT CALIFORNIA SUPERSTORES IN VALENCIA, CA. THEY CALLED ME SEVERAL TIMES TO COME AND PICK THE CAR UP BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED, BUT THAT THERE WAS NOT A "FIX" FOR IT. DUE TO CONCERNS FOR MY FAMILYS SAFETY I REFUSED TO PICK THE CAR UP AND CALLED CHRYSLER WHO TOLD ME NOT TO PICK THE CAR UP, THAT IT WAS DANGEOUS TO DRIVE IT. THE NEXT WEEKI WAS AGAIN TOLD TO COME AND PICK THE CAR UP, THIS TIME BY BOTH THE DEALER AT CALIFORNIA SUPERSTORES, VALENCIA, CA AND BY THE CORPORATE PEOPLE AT CHRYSLER, AND TOLD THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THE CAR JUST RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING IT. I OPENED A CLAIM WITHCHRYSLER CORP. ABOUT THE CAR STALLING OUT BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK ABOUT ANY FIX OR RECALL. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I AM NOT RECEIVING ANY HELP FROM THE DEALER OR CHRYSLER CORP. I PAID ALMOST $38,000 FOR THE CAR AND DO NOT EVEN WANT TO DRIVE IT OR HAVE MY FAMILY IN IT DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT COULD STALL AGAIN (IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES), THE STEERING GO OUT, AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT HARMING US OR OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROADWAYS.
MY INITIAL COMPLAINT WAS THE VEHICLE NOT SHIFTING INTO PARK CORRECTLY WHICH I NOW SEE FIAT CHRYSLER IS PREPARED TO ISSUE A RECALL. HOWEVER, THE SOLUTION OFFERED IS IN MY OPINION INSUFFICIENT. WARNINGS AS OPPOSED TO A REAL FIX IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND I BELIEVE NHTSA MUST DEMAND A REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE SHIFT MODULE.

I PURCHASED A 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH ROUGHLY 31K MILES IN 2016 FROM CHRYSLER DODGE DEALERSHIP IN MICHIGAN. THE SHIFTER IS NOT FRIENDLY USER AND I NOTICED SEVERAL SECONDS OF LATENCY IN ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP (CITY) AND THE RPMS WOULD EXCEL PAST THE CORRECT GEAR. ID HAVE TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO HELP GET IT INTO GEAR (CITY & HIGHWAY). THE GEARS SHIFTING IN SPORT MODE WAS SMOOTHER AND TOOK IT BACK TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP (NO RECALL NOTICES WERE SENT) AND THEY STATED IT WAS A SOFTWARE ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN CORRECTED. NOW WHEN I'M DRIVING IN D THERE'S STILL THE HESITATION OF SHIFTING INTO GEAR AS WELL AS LATENCY DURING ACCELERATION. I FEEL A JOLT WHEN I GO TO ACCELERATE AND WHEN I SLOW DOWN I FEEL THE DOWNWARD SHIFTING. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE - CITY AND HIGHWAY.

I THOUGHT I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK BUT WHEN I STEPPED OUT THE CAR ROLLED AWAY AND HIT A PALM TREE. THIS CAUSED BODY DAMAGE TO MY PASSENGER FENDER AND BUMPER. ALSO PAINT DAMAGE TO MOST OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
TAKATA, ON APRIL 15, 2016 I HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH A 2004 FORD PICK UP TRUCK ON STATE HIGHWAY 28 IN SENECA SC THE JEEP WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND I SUFFERED MULTIPLE SERIOUS BODILY INJURIES. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. IF THE AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED IT WOULD NOT HAVE CONCLUDED IN BROKEN RIBS, BROKEN HAND, MULTIPLE CUTS AND BRUISES AND THE LOSS OF 90 % OF MY SITE. EVEN THE STATE TROOPER SAID HE HAD NEVER WITNESSED SUCH A TRAVESTY.

THIS MORNING WHILE BACKING THE VEHICLE OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO THE STREET, THE STEERING LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE TURNED AT ALL. THE CAR WAS AT AN ANGLE TO THE CURB ON A 1-WAY CITY STREET, THERE WERE NO OBSTRUCTIONS. I STRUGGLED TO TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL WHEN I PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE. I SWITCHED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE A FEW TIMES TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE STREET AND PARK. FINALLY, AFTER STRUGGLING TO TURN THE WHEEL EVEN THE TINIEST BIT, I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK, SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED IT. THE STEERING IMMEDIATELY FREED UP AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO WORK. I REPORTED IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY CAN'T LOOK AT IT UNTIL ALMOST 24 HOURS AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.

WHILE PULLING OUT ONTO A BUSY THOROUGHFARE (CESAR CHAVEZ ST. IN SAN FRANCISCO, CA) IN MY 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND ON 3/31/16, MY COLLISION WARNING SYSTEM WENT OFF, THEN THE VEHICLE BRAKED HARD ON ITS OWN VIA THE BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEM, ENGAGING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, AND BRINGING ME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS BUSY ROAD. HOWEVER THERE WAS NOTHING/NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME. THIS COULD VERY WELL HAVE CAUSED ME TO BE T-BONED OR REAR-ENDED WITH MY 8 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE CAR. THIS WAS EXTREMELY SCARY AND UNEXCEPTABLE! AFTER DESCRIBING THE ISSUE TO MY MOTHER, SHE SENT ME AN ARTICLE FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL REGARDING THIS ISSUE ON 2014 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. CLEARLY THIS IS A MORE WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAN JUST A FLUKE AFFECTING MY VEHICLE.

ON 3/22/16 I WENT TO A TENNIS TOURNAMENT WITH 2 FRIENDS. I DROVE OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ONCE I PARKED IN THE FLAT/SURFACE LOT I EXITED THE CAR TO WALK TO THE REAR OF THE CAR TO ENTER THE TRUNK AND REALIZED THE CAR WAS STILL I GEAR. THIS SAME SITUATION HAS HAPPENED A NUMBER OF TIMES, OFTEN WHEN WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF ACCESSING THE REAR DOORS OR THE TRUNK. THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE AND WHEN WE ARE WITH THE KIDS THIS HAPPENS IT HAS SCARED US FROM DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WENT IN FOR 4 RECALLS THAT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF, OTHER THAN A FLIER FROM AUTONATION SAYING I HAVE 4 OPEN RECALLS. I CONTACTED AND SCHEDULE THIS IMMEDIATELY UPON RECEIPT. THEY WERE LOOKING AT THE BRAKE BOOSTER RECALL AND FOUND THE MASTER CYLINDER TO BE SHOT. I'VE DRIVEN LOTS OF CARS FOR OVER A MILLION MILES AND NEVER HAD A MASTER CYLINDER GO BEFORE. THIS IS ALARMING THAT AT 45K MILES THIS IS SHOT. THIS PART MUST BE DEFECTIVE. IN ADDITION, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON OCCURENCE WITH 193 SUCH COMPLAINTS ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. I'VE TALKED TO FIAT CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO ASSIST WITH THIS. I AM CERTAIN THEY ARE CORRECT IN IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE AS I HAVE NOTICED SOME BREAK DETERIORATION RECENTLY. JUST BECAUSE THERE WASN'T AN ACCIDENT INSTALLING FAULTY BRAKE MASTER CYLINDERS ON VEHICLES IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS PROPOSITION.
THE WIRING HARNESS THAT RUNS TO THE DRIVER SIDE POWER SEAT CONTROLS HAS RUBBED UP AGAINST THE METAL FRAME AND FAILED. THIS FAILURE HAS CAUSED A SMALL ELECTRICAL FIRE DUE TO ARCHING WHICH IS ONLY SOLVED BY PULLING THE FUSE. A NEW WIRE HARNESS IS NEEDED TO FIX. DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. COULD HAVE CAUSED FATALITY IF SEAT WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED.
