BELTED DRIVER OF A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IMPACTED A LARGE PINE TREE IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUFFERED SIGNFICANT INJURIES FROM IMPACTING STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT OF CAR. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK IT OVERFLOWS BEFORE THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED ROUTINELY AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS. I HAVE STOPPED TRYING TO COMPLETELY FILL UP MY TANK BUT IF SOMEONE ELSE FILLS MY TANK AND DOES THEIR MATH WRONG THE GAS STARTS SPILLING OUT ONTO THEM AND THE GROUND. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A LOCAL DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THEY WANTED TO REPLACE MY ENTIRE TANK AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OVER $1,000 FOR THEM TO DO SO, EVEN THOUGH ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN OTHER JEEP MODELS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DO GREAT HARM TO SOMEONE. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS WHICH SHOWS THAT'S ITS A STRUCTURAL/COMPONENT ISSUE AND NOT THAT IT SOMEHOW GOT KNOCKED OUT OF WACK. *TR
ON MY JEEP LIBERTY THE REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WILL NOT ROLL UP. I DROVE TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK ON TUESDAY EVENING, AND WHEN I WAS REENTERING MY VEHICLE AFTER FILLING UP, I NOTICED THAT THIS WINDOW WAS DOWN. I AM NOT ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE, BUT I HIGHLY DOUBT I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE GAS STATION WITHOUT NOTICING THE WIND NOISE WITH THAT WINDOW DOWN. ANYWAYS, I USED THE BUTTON TO TRY AND ROLL IT UP AND IT DIDN'T MOVE. AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES WITH THE BUTTON, AN ODD GRINDING SOUND STARTED COMING FROM THE DOOR. I GOT OUT AND WENT AROUND TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I OPENED THE DOOR AND USED THE REAR BUTTONS TO ROLL IT UP, AND THE NOISE CONTINUED AS WELL AS SOME KIND OF PIPE/WIRE CAME OUT OF THE DOOR. WHEN I TRIED TO GENTLY WIGGLE THE WINDOW TO SEE IF IT WAS BENT OR SOMETHING, THE PART THAT WAS STILL UP SLID INTO THE DOOR (SO THE WHOLE WINDOW IS DOWN NOW AND WON'T ROLL UP). I LIVE IN A DORM AT A HUGE SCHOOL, SO HAVING MY WHOLE CAR EXPOSED BY THIS OPEN WINDOW MAKES ME EXTREMELY NERVOUS. I HAVE TAPED A TRASH BAG OVER IT FOR NOW IN CASE IT RAINS, BUT IT'S AWFULLY LOUD WHEN I'M DRIVING, AND I DOUBT IT WILL LAST MUCH LONGER. I HAVEN'T TAKEN IT TO A DEALER YET BECAUSE I WANTED TO LOOK ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS WAS HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE. I'VE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS AND SIMILAR STORIES THAT I AM QUITE UPSET ABOUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES. *TR
MY VEHICLE, A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, HAS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH WINDOW REGULATORS FAILING. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE. THE WINDOWS FALL DOWN INTO THE DOORS CREATING A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. THE FALLING WINDOW STARTLED ME AND IT HAPPENED DURING A DOWNPOUR, CREATING A MAJOR DRIVING DISTRACTION. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, BUT CHRYSLER HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THEY SHOULD DO SO IMMEDIATELY. *TR

2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. POOR DESIGN NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER OR JEEP DEALER TOTAL COST ON ME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MISFIRING ABNORMALLY AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE ENGINE AND RELEASED THE VEHICLE TO THE CONTACT. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE WAS MISFIRING DUE TO VALVE FAILURES WITHIN THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED AS THE AUTHORIZED DEALER PLANNED ON FURTHER EXAMINING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT OVERFLOWS FROM THE GAS TANK WHEN FILLING GAS. THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS GAS STATIONS. THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF AT SERVICE STATION PUMPS DO NOT SENSE PRESSURE TO SHUT OFF. THIS CAUSES FUEL TO SPILL ON SIDE OF CAR, GROUND AND POSSIBLY THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK. THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD, FIRE HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE HARM AS AN INHALANT. *TR
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT CONCERNING THE REAR WINDOWS OF MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS FILED CONCERNING THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE AND THE NUMBER OF "REPEAT" FAILURES, I JUST GOT DONE SEALING THE OTHER BACK DOOR WINDOW SHUT WITH SILICONE SEALANT. IT IS PRETTY BAD WHEN YOU OWE THE BANK $11,000 FOR A VEHICLE AND YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY PUT MONEY INTO IT BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE PART THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK THE TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME AS THE TANK REACHES THE FULL POINT THE DEALER STATES A NEW TANK IS REQUIRED AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECT BUT IT IS THE CUSTOMER?S PROBLEM AT A COST OF ABOUT $1600.00 THIS IS A SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS BY CHRYSLER. THERE IS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS THE PLASTIC CLIP THAT HOLDS THE WINDOWS UP SNAPS OFF AT RANDOM AND THE WINDOWS FALL DOWN AGAIN CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE DESIGN DEFECT BUT REFUSES ANY HELP OR PERMANENT FIX. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4. WHILE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED BACK OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY WHENEVER THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED CLOSE TO CAPACITY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE FUEL CHECK VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WINDOW JUST SUDDENLY FELL INTO THE DOOR; IT DOESN'T RESPOND TO THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON; THERE IS NO NOISE AT ALL; LIKE THERE IS NO MOTOR OR ANYTHING SUPPORTING IT. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL MY GAS TANK UP A BUNCH OF GAS SPILLS OUT ALL OVER THE JEEP, THE GROUND AND ME. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR AROUND 6 MONTHS NOW. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY GAS STATION I'VE USED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY SON IN THE CAR. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WENT DOWN. IT WAS CHILLY, SO I ASK MY SON TO PUT THE WINDOW UP AND HE SAID I DIDN'T PUT IT DOWN. I TRIED TO ROLL IT UP (POWER WINDOW) AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE, BUT THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP. IT APPARENTLY JUST FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND NOW I CAN NOT GET IT UP. I WENT ON -LINE TO SEE IF I COULD FIND A FIX AND ENDED UP FINDING A HUGE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND THEY SAID I COULD BRING IT IN AND DIAGNOSTIC IS $120.00. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? SO I TAPED A PLASTIC BAG OVER THE WINDOW FOR NOW, BUT I DID NOT REALIZE HOW MUCH I USED MY REAR PASSENGER WINDOW FOR DRIVING, UNTIL IT WAS NO LONGER USABLE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT THIS MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY THE DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER. *TR
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATORS. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER JEEP HAS DONE NOTHING TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. A RECALL FOR THE WINDOW REGULATORS NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO PLACE. HI, I HAVE OWNED THIS JEEP LIBERTY SINCE 2008 AND BOUGHT IT WITH 2700 MILES ON IT. THE PROBLEM I HAVE AND MANY OTHERS HAVE IS WITH THE FILLER NECK ON THE FUEL TANK. IT OVERFLOWS GAS EVERY TIME YOU FILL. EVEN IF I SLOW IT AT THE APPROX TIME THE METER SAYS IT SHOULD BE GETTING FULL. THE INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THE NEW GAS TANK ASSEMBLY FROM JEEP HAS A NEW/FIXED SAFETY VALVE IN THE FILLER NECK THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP WITH A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT BUT APPARENTLY SLAPS SHUT WHEN FILLING CAUSING THE GAS PUKE ON CLOTHES, SHOES, GROUND, ETC. IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, POCKET BOOK, OR OTHER PEOPLE AT THE GAS STATION AS SPILLED GAS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN. IT IS A CHRONIC FAILURE AND JEEP SHOULD DO SOMETHING. SELL PART AT LOSS/SEVERE DISCOUNT, REPLACE FOR FREE WOULD BE NICE, ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM IS A BIG ISSUE AND STAND UP AND FIX IT EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOT THE CLASSIC, "THIS CAUSES ACCIDENTS AND WE BETTER DO SOMETHING SO WE DON'T GET SUED" TYPE OF SAFETY RECALL. WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, GAS WILL SQUIRT OUT BEFORE THE NOZZLE CAN SHUT OFF. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE GAS TANK THAT CAUSES AIR TO NOT VENT PROPERLY DURING THE FILLING PROCESS. THIS AIR BUILDS UP PRESSURE UNTIL IT PUSHES GAS BACK OUT THE FILLER TUBE POTENTIALLY ONTO THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK, DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. NOT ONLY A SAFETY ISSUE BUT AN ENVIRONMENTAL ONE THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE ALSO REPORTED. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR CABLE ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY FAILED AND THE WINDOW DROPPED ALL THE WAY INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL. THE PLASTIC PIN HOLDING THE REGULATOR CABLE TO THE WINDOW CHANNEL BROKE. *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR HAS BROKE AND WINDOW WILL NOT STAY UP. *TR
1. OPERATING NORMALLY 2. POWER WINDOW FAILURE. OCCURS EVERY 20K MILES OF NORMAL USE. FAILURE DUE TO A BROKEN PLASTIC BRACKET THAT ATTACHES THE WINDOW TO THE REGULATOR WIRE COIL. WHEN FAILURE OCCURS, WINDOW MAY SLIP DOWN RESULTING IN POSSIBLE WEATHER DAMAGE AND SECURITY RISKS. 3. THE FACTORY FIX IS COSTLY AND DOESN'T REPLACE THE PLASTIC BRACKET. THE PERMANENT FIX IS TO REPLACE THAT BRACKET WITH A METAL ONE FOR ABOUT $90 + 1 HRS LABOR PER WINDOW. *TR
IT IS COMMON THAT 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL FREQUENTLY. I HAVE HAD ALL 4 OF MY WINDOWS FAIL; TWO OF THE WINDOWS HAVE FAILED A SECOND TIME FOLLOWING DEALER REPAIR. ALTHOUGH THE REAR WINDOWS ARE RARELY USED, BOTH HAVE FALLEN COMPLETELY INTO THE DOOR WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS IS CLEARLY A DANGEROUSLY FLAWED DESIGN THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY JEEP/CHRYSLER. *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND THIS MORNING I WAS ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOW WHEN I HEARD A POP AND WAS UNABLE TO RETURN THE REAR LEFT PASSENGER WINDOW TO THE CLOSED POSITION. I SEARCHED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS IS BECOMING A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG 2006 JEEP LIBERTIES. A FORUM SUGGESTED THAT I REPORT IT. I HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY THAT I PURCHASED 6 MOS AGO WITH 25,000 MILES. THE BACK PASSENGER WINDOW HAS STOPPED WORKING. STILL RESEARCHING REPAIR ESTIMATES. *TR
I AM WRITING TO GIVE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THROUGHOUT PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR AND GLASS REPLACED. THE GLASS FALLS INTO THE DOOR AND WILL NOT ROLL UP. THE FIRST TIME, AND EVEN SECOND, I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT IN STRIDE AND ACCEPT IT, PAYING THE LARGE SUM TO GET IT FIXED. HOWEVER, AS THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ON AT LEAST 4 OTHER OCCASIONS - TWO OF WHICH HAPPENED WITHIN FIVE DAYS OF EACH OTHER IN MID SEPTEMBER 2010 - I AM QUITE DISCOURAGED. I NOW HAVE ONE WINDOW STILL DOWN - PASSENGER FRONT - AND IT IS CURRENTLY TAPED UP. HOWEVER, IN FLORIDA WEATHER, IT FREQUENTLY MELTS AND FALLS DOWN. THIS LEAVES MY CAR WINDOW DOWN AND EXPOSED IN PUBLIC WHILE I AM AT WORK - WHICH COULD LEAD TO MANY DANGERS. I AM SICK OF TAKING MY CAR IN EVERY FEW MONTHS BECAUSE JEEP CANNOT SIMPLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. I PAID A PRICE FOR MY CAR, AND COULD EASILY HAVE BOUGHT ANOTHER CAR BY NOW WITH THE MONEY I HAVE SPENT ON FIXING THE WINDOWS IN THIS CAR - AROUND 350 TO 500 A POP FOR EACH TIME. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND JEEP SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFAULT. *TR

FAULTY WINDOW REGULATORS IN JEEP LIBERTY. WINDOW FALLS WITHOUT WARRING. WINDOWS DO NOT HAVE TO BE IN USE AT THE TIME THEY FALL. REPAIR IS $400. DEALERSHIP ADVISED THIS IS A COMMON RECURRING PROBLEM, AND MAY CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AFTER REPAIR. *TR
WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED ON DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW IN 2007. REGULATOR WAS REPLACED AND COVERED BY FACTORY WARRANTY. WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED ON PASSENGER REAR WINDOW IN 2010, NOT COVERED BY FACTORY WARRANTY. BY 2010, THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD AN UPDATED DESIGN THAT REQUIRED A NEW WINDOW TO BE PURCHASED IN ADDITION TO THE REGULATOR, AS THE OLD WINDOW WOULD NOT FIT PROPERLY WITH THE NEW REGULATOR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, WHEN THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW FELL AGAIN! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS WEEK THAT ONE OF THE POWER WINDOWS FALL. I HAVE HAD THIS WINDOW AND TWO OTHER WINDOWS SERVICED FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM BEFORE AND IT AND CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO BE UNABLE TO FIX IT! WHEN IT FELL, IT WAS RAINING, AND I HAD TO HURRY TO GET HOME BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING INSIDE OF THE JEEP. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO KEEP A GARBAGE BAG IN MY VEHICLE JUST IN CASE MY WINDOW FALLS. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO AT LEAST TWO WINDOWS EVERY THREE OR FOUR MONTHS FOR US. WHEN WE BRING IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, IT SEEMS TO WORK FINE FOR A WHILE UNTIL SOONER OR LATER IT FALLS AGAIN. THEY TELL US THAT A PLASTIC CLIP HOLDS THE WINDOW UP, AND THE WINDOW FALLS WHEN THE CLIP GIVES OUT. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS PLASTIC CLIP MUST BE PRETTY WEAK TO GO OUT AS OFTEN AS THIS! WE DON'T EVEN PUT THE WINDOW UP OR DOWN AT ALL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THAT THE PART CAN GO OUT WHETHER THE WINDOW IS IN USE OR NOT BECAUSE OF THE TENSION IT HOLDS. WHEN ASKED ABOUT ANY RECALLS ON THIS PART, THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT RECALLS ARE ONLY ISSUED WHEN A SAFETY VIOLATION CAN OCCUR. IT IS A SAFETY VIOLATION TO ME! WHEN THE WINDOWS FALL, AND MY CHILDREN ARE IN THE CAR AND IT IS STORMING OUTSIDE THAT CERTAINLY AFFECTS MY DRIVING BECAUSE I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY KIDS! I WONDER WHAT DAMAGE WOULD BE CAUSED IF THE WINDOW FALLS AND SHATTERS INSIDE THE DOOR? HOW WOULD CHRYSLER RESPOND TO THAT? CHRYSLER SEEMS TO TAKE THIS AS NO BIG DEAL, BUT I BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE CAN GET SERIOUSLY INJURED BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. WITHIN THE LAST YEAR ALL FOUR WINDOWS ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAVE FAILED, ONE OF THEM FOR THE SECOND TIME SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THE FIRST WINDOW FAILED SEPTEMBER OF 2009. I HAD MY WINDOW PARTLY DOWN AND WHEN I WENT TO ROLL IT UP IT MADE A TERRIBLE NOISE AND THE GLASS FELL INTO THE DOOR. I PAID TO HAVE IT REPAIRED WHICH COST ME $600. IN AUGUST OF 2010 THE BACK TWO WINDOWS BEGAN TO FALL INTO THE DOOR ON THEIR OWN, I HAD NOT TRIED TO ROLL THEM DOWN, AS I WAS DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED WITHIN A WEEK OF EACH OTHER. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SUGGESTED I CALL JEEP TO REQUEST HELP. JEEP AGREED TO REPAIR BOTH OF THESE WINDOWS FOR ME. I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE WINDOWS HAVE BROKEN THREE TIMES. THEY FALL INTO THE DOOR AND CANNOT BE RAISED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE WINDOW IS STUCK IN THE FULL DOWN POSITION AND IS A GREAT RISK AS OBJECTS CAN FLY INTO THE CAR...AND GREAT RISKS WHEN PARKING OVERNIGHT AND THE WINDOW NOT BEING ABLE TO BE RAISED. THIS THE THIRD WINDOW BROKEN, WITH ONE BROKEN TWICE. THE WINDOWS GET FIXED AT A DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF $100 PER WINDOW AND REQUIRE ME TO MISS A HALF TO A FULL DAY OF WORK DEPENDING ON THE SERVICE REPAIR VOLUME. *TR

HOWEVER, HERE IN SW FLORIDA DURING THE SUMMER WE HAVE A "RAINY" SEASON FOR 6 MONTHS. NEEDLESS TO SAY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ONE OF THESE BANDS OF RAIN STARTS POURING AND NOW HERE GOES THE OTHER REAR WINDOW DOWN "INSIDE" THE DOOR THIS TIME. WILL NOT COME UP! IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY RECALL I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. LET'S JUST SAY TRYING TO KEEP THE CAR ON THE ROAD, IN THE CORRECT LANE ALL WHILE TRYING TO FIND SOMEPLACE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD UNTIL THE RAIN STOPS. OF COURSE, NOW THE SEATS ARE SOAKING WET, AND WE LIBERTY OWNERS KNOW WHAT COMES NEXT...........BECAUSE THE SEATS GET WET ALL THIS NASTY WHITE STAIN IS ON THEM AND MUST BE BROUGHT IN TO GET CLEANED. MY WINDOWS ARE FALLING INTO THE WELL OF MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY DOORS FOR NO REASON AT ALL. DEALERS ARE NOT OPENLY OFFERING TO REPLACE WITH UPDATED PARTS. I WAS TOLD THAT THE COST WOULD BE UP TO $500 PER WINDOW AND OFFERING TO HAVE CHRYSLER MAKE GOOD OF THE DEFECT. I WAS TOLD THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE DEFECTED AND THAT CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. IF YOU KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM, JUST HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE AND FILE WITH CHRYSLER TO MAKE THIS A "GOOD SERVICE POLICY". *TR
BACK WINDOW FELL AND SWITCH WILL NOT BRING IT BACK UP. THIS IS MY SECOND WINDOW PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN 2007 (FEBRUARY) WITH ABOUT 15,000 MILES ON IT. THE WARRANTY WAS STILL GOOD FOR A LITTLE LONGER AT THAT TIME. IN THAT TIME AT 2 OF REGULATORS ON TWO DIFFERENT WINDOWS HAD TO BE REPLACED. SINCE THAT TIME 2 MORE HAVE BEEN REPLACED OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. NOW HERE IN SEPTEMBER 2010 THE BACK DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IS DOING IT AGAIN. THE WINDOW WILL FALL DOWN OUT OF PLACE WHEN ROLLED UP AND WHEN YOU TRY TO ROLL IT UP THE MOTOR WILL GRIND AND THE WINDOW WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF; PEOPLE ARE OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR

JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THERE ARE TONS OF POSTS ON THE INTERNET WHERE THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER PEOPLE. JEEP IS RIPPING OFF IT'S CUSTOMERS, IT SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE WINDOWS. WHAT IF IT FALLS DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN THE RAIN WITH MY TWO KIDS IN THE BACK? 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT 4 X 4 WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE: ABOUT TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND FOUND A REAR WINDOW DOWN ON MY JEEP. WHEN I TRIED TO USE THE BUTTON TO RAISE IT A LOUD GRINDING NOISE OCCURRED AND THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP. CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $442.73 TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR WITH, WHAT THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID, WAS THE NEW TYPE THAT CHRYSLER USES NOW. REP ALSO SAID I HAD TO BUY A NEW WINDOW GLASS BECAUSE THE NEW REGULATOR WAS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK WITH THE OLD GLASS. THE NEW GLASS IS NOT TINTED TO MATCH THE OTHER CAR WINDOWS. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS POSTED ONLINE, FROM JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS, WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM REPEATEDLY. THERE IS AN ONLINE PETITION TO CHRYSLER TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND ABSORB THE EXPENSE OF HAVING THESE FAULTY REGULATORS REPLACED. THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST VOLKS WAGEN FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. NOT KNOWING WHEN ONE OF YOUR CAR WINDOWS WILL DROP IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR BROKEN GLASS, A DANGEROUS DRIVING DISTRACTION, AND I WAS NOT SECURE IN MY CAR, THOUGH HAVING ALL DOORS LOCKED, MY WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP. THIS LEAVES THE CAR OPEN TO EASY THEFT. SINCE CHRYSLER IS USING A "NEW" WINDOW REGULATOR, THAT DOESN'T FIT THE OLD GLASS, IT MUST KNOW OF THE WIDESPREAD PROBLEM OF THEIR FAULTY ORIGINAL REGULATORS. ABS/ESP ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL PROBLEM. VEHICLES STARTED BRAKING CAUSING UNCONTROLLABLE SWERVING ON HIGHWAY, WHICH MY NEWBORN TWINS IN THE BACK SEAT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG ISSUE WITH JEEP. VEHICLE WILL BRAKE HARD ON A TIRE WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THINKING THAT THERE IS TIRE TRACTION SLIPPAGE. *TR
ON EACH FILL UP, GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT OF THE NOZZLE RECEPTOR. THIS OCCURS WITH THE OPERATOR HOLDING THE HANDLE IN OR WITH THE LATCH PUSHED DOWN TO HOLD THE HANDLE DOWN. APPROXIMATELY A QUARTER CUP OF FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE TANK UPON OVERFILL. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL DEALERS AND THE DEALER INSISTS THE TANK HAS BEEN COMPROMISED BY "ETHANOL BASED" FUELS. I HAVE NEVER FILLED UP WITH ANYTHING BUT 87 OCTANE. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO PAY $5000 FOR A NEW GAS TANK. THIS OCCURS AT EVERY GAS STATION AND I HAVE TRIED TO FILL THE TANK ON THE SLOWEST SETTING. NEITHER METHOD HELPS THE OVERFILLING. THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME, BUT AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. *TR

I PURCHASED A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 3.7 LITER WITH 34,000 MILES. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME FROM WORK WHEN THE JEEP BEGAN TO STALL AND THE VEHICLE SPEEDS UP ON ITS OWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IS STILL ON AND I CAN KNOW LONGER DRIVE IT BECAUSE I AM AFRAID OF IT STALLING IN AN INTERSECTION OR ON THE HIGHWAY. I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND JEEP HAS DONE NOTHING. THIS IS THE SEVENTH WINDOW REGULATOR TO FAIL ON THIS VEHICLE - FOURTH ONE FOR THIS PARTICULAR DOOR. DEALER DIAGNOSED AS FAILED REGULATOR AND INDICATED THAT MANUFACTURER FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM IS REPLACEMENT OF REGULATOR PART AND WINDOW GLASS - $575. *TR
I, LIKE MOST OTHERS OWNING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS THAT JEEP CONTINUES TO USE. I HAVE REPLACED TWO REAR WINDOWS WITHIN A WEEK COSTING ABOUT $1000.00 ON MY VEHICLE WHICH HAS LOW MILEAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 41,240 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,900.
