TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW STUCK MIDWAY AND I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR, THE REGULATOR CABLE HUNG UP WITH DOOR LATCH, HAD TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. GLAD I DID NOT HAVE TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY EXIT. *TR
REAR DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE AFTER ONLY 40,000 MILES ON A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED 4X4. WINDOW RECEIVED ONLY LIGHT USED, WAS NOT USED WHILE FROZEN WITH ICE. THIS FAILURE RESULTS FROM A PLASTIC PART THAT IS SPECIFIED IN THE REGULATOR DESIGN THAT IS NOT DURABLE ENOUGH FOR THIS APPLICATION. THIS FAILURE RENDERS THE VEHICLE UNSECURE AS THE WINDOW EITHER FALLS DOWN ON ITS OWN OR CAN BE PUSHED DOWN FROM THE OUTSIDE BY HAND. IT ALSO CAUSES A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE WINDOW CAN FALL DOWN UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY AN ISSUE DURING WINTER OR STORM CONDITIONS. INCURRED $250 IN REPAIR COSTS. REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE THE SAME DESIGN FLAW AND CAN BE EXPECTED FAIL AGAIN IN SIMILARLY SHORT PEROIDS OF TIME. *TR
EVERYTIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK ON MY 06 LIBERTY IT OVER FLOWS. *TR
OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, I HAVE OCCASIONALLY SMELLED A KEROSENE ODOR WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL. TODAY, I READ ABOUT A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL HEATER ON THE LIBERTY DIESEL AND SO I CHECKED THE HEATER ON MY VEHICLE. THE PLASTIC INSULATOR AROUND THE ELECTRICAL PINS OF THE FUEL HEATER CONNECTOR (ON CABLE) IS DISCOLORED AND PARTIALLY MELTED. DOING FURTHER READING THIS EVENING, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN ALSO BE A SOURCE OF FUEL SEEPAGE. ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T SEE ANY EVIDENCE OF FUEL AROUND THE CONNECTOR, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND MAY HAVE BEEN ALSO BEEN THE SOURCE OF THE ODOR I HAVE BEEN SMELLING WHILE DRIVING. I FEEL FORTUNATE TO HAVE DISCOVERED THIS IN A PRE-FAILURE CONDITION AND HAVE NOT (YET) EXPERIENCED A SERIOUS FUEL LEAK, ENGINE FIRE OR ENGINE STOPPAGE DUE TO FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE, I WAS DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THAT YOUR AGENCY WAS AWARE OF THIS DESIGN PROBLEM BACK IN 2007 (PE07041), BUT CLOSED IT WITH APPARENTLY NO ACTION TAKEN. IN MY OPINION, THIS CONDITION CERTAINLY WARRANTS A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL AND REPAIR. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE PARTIALLY BURNED CONNECTOR ON MY VEHICLE, SHOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN SEEING THEM. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THAT THE ELECTRICAL CAPACITY OF THIS CONNECTOR IS BEING EXCEEDED AND IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. *TR
MY MOTHER BOUGHT A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAS NEVER HAD A PROBLEM,SO IN MARCH OF 2010 ME AND MY HUSBAND DECIDED TO PURCHASE A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY FROM A TRUSTY CAR DEALER. WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF HAVING THIS JEEP OUR RIGHT REAR WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR AS WE WERE DRIVING TO A FAMILY FUNCTION. MY BIGGEST FEAR WAS THAT 1 OF OUR 3 KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN HURT BY BROKEN GLASS. MY FATHER REPAIRED THE WINDOW BY WEDGING A PIECE OF WOOD BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW. I LATER CALLED JEEP WHO TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THIS JEEP AND THAT THEY WOULD GLADLY SPLIT THE COST WITH ME WHICH ONLY COST $600 PER WINDOW AND THEY WON'T WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY KNOW IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I LEFT IT ALONE CAUSE WE COULD NOT AFFORD THIS AT THE TIME. A FEW MONTHS LATER IN NOVEMBER 2010 THE LEFT SIDE REAR WINDOW SLIPPED,ONCE AGAIN MY FATHER REPAIRED IT AT BEST HE COULD. I FINALLY WENT ONLINE TO SEE WHAT I COULD DO REPAIR THE PROBLEM MYSELF AT A CHEAPER COST. I CAME ACROSS A WEB SITE STEIGERS.COM THE GENTLEMAN WHO OWNS THIS COMPANY HAS CREATED A REPLACEMENT PIECE FOR THE BROKEN PART AND IT WORKS GREAT. I REPLACED IT MYSELF WITH NO KNOWLEDGE OF REPAIRING CARS. THE ONLY HARD PART WAS WORKING IN SUCH A TIGHT SPACE..THANK GOD MY HANDS ARE SMALL ENOUGH TO SQUEEZE IN BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW AREA. THE PART IS ABOUT A $100 WITH SHIPPING AND HANDLING AND SO FAR SEEMS TO HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR TO DO ALL THE WORK ON 1 WINDOW. THATS NOT OUR ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS LOVELY VEHICLE WE HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SPILLING OUT WHEN FILLING THE TANK. THE TANK SEEMS TO BUILD PRESSURE OR CATCH AIR. I DON'T KNOW ALL I KNOW IS IT SCARED ME REALLY BAD THE FIRST TIME.AND WE HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ESP ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HIT A TURN TO HARD OR HIT A BIG BUMP. HOW WONDERFUL A 4X4 VEHICLE WHO DOESN'T LIKE BIG TURNS,BUMPS OR SNOW. AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE PART IS THE BROKEN WINDOW..THEY TOLD ME ITS CALLED A BINDING CRACK IT HAPPENS TO ALL JEEPS SO DON'T FORCE YOUR JEEP TO DO ITS JOB..AND WORK. *TR
WINDOW FELL IN DOOR, REAR PASSENGER ON DRIVERS SIDE. SELF REPLACED MOTOR WINDOW IN DOORSYSTEM. PLASTIC PART INSIDE SNAPS OR SHEARS OFF. BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT PART THAT HAS METAL STOPS. NO PROBLEMS. HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR WINDOW MOTORS. THEY ALL SNAPPED AT DIFFERENT TIMES. BY HUSBAND *TR
VEHICLE STARTED EXHIBITING A CYL #3 MISFIRE SHOWING CODE P0303 AND ALL THE SIGNS INCLUDED IN TSB 09-007-06. WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER AND HAVING DEFECTIVE CYLINDER VALVES AND VALVE LOCKS. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ABOUT IT. THIS ISSUE IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PRODUCE MORE EMISSIONS AND WASTE MORE GAS WHILE IT RUNS INCORRECTLY ALSO CAUSING PREMATURE DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. ANY HELP THE NHTSA CAN PROVIDE TO HELP RECTIFY THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREAT HELP AS JEEP WANTS TO HIDE FROM ALL OF THERE DEFECTIVE PARTS BEHIND NEW OWNER FIAT. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN FUELING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SENSE WHEN ITS FULL. I HAVE TO STOP FUELING BEFORE I THINK ITS FULL SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN, SO I AM UNABLE TO FILL TANK COMPLETELY. SPILLS ALL OVER MY CLOTHES, ON THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. ALSO I SMELL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL WHEN I'M DRIVING MY VEHICLE SOMETIMES WHICH IS VERY SCARY. *TR
AT 43,305 MILES, I HAD TO REPLACE THE MAIN BEARING OIL SEAL. THE COST WAS $556.91. AT THIS LOW MILEAGE, THIS SEAL SHOULD NOT FAIL. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY. ESP/BAS LIGHTS . PROBLEM DOES NOT REGISTER ON COMPUTER. HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM. BAS MODULE IS THE PROBLEM. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
THE JEEP LIBERTY HAS REGULARLY "SPIT" OUT QUANTITIES OF GASOLINE WHILE FILLING UP AT GAS STATIONS. THE QUANTITIES RANGE FROM 1 TO 8 OUNCES, WITH THE QUANTITY THAT POURED OUT TODAY THE LARGEST AMOUNT YET. THE QUANTITIES VARY BY HOW FAST THE PUMP IS PUMPING AND WHETHER THE PUMP IS HAND OPERATED OR ON AUTOMATIC BUT SOME QUANTITY OF GAS COMES OUT ALMOST EVERY TIME. THE SPILL TODAY LEFT AT LEAST 4 TO 6 OUNCES OF GASOLINE ON THE GROUND WHICH IS BOTH AN ENVIRONMENTAL AND SAFETY HAZARD.
WHEN FUELING THE TANK THE GASOLINE PUMP WILL NOT TURN OFF WHEN THE TANK GETS FULL CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GASOLINE TO SPILL DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND AS WELL AS SPLASHING ALL OVER THE HANDLE AND THE PERSON HOLDING THE HANDLE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED REGARDLESS OF WEATHER OR LOCATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE PUMPING FUEL INTO THE TANK'S FILLER NECK, THE FUEL LEAKED OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
KEY WAS STUCK IN IGNITION OF 2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED EDITION. ALSO NOTICED THE SHIFTER WAS MOVING FREELY, WITHOUT HAVING TO BE PUSHED IN LIKE IT TYPICALLY WOULD. TOOK TO JEEP DEALERSHIP & WAS TOLD THAT ENTIRE SHIFTER COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS PLASTIC & BRAKES EASILY - COST $200.00. HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, GAS OVERFLOWS OUT THE FILLER TUBE. IT DOES THIS KNOW MATTER HOW YOU FILL THE TANK_MAN. OR AUTO. *KB
TOOK CAR IN FOR REAR STEERING ARM RECALL. WAS HAVING A RECURRENT SHIMMY ON FRONT DRIVERS SIDE AND A SQUEAKING NOISE. HAD U JOINT BOLTS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED AND BRAKES AND ROTORS REPLACED IN LATE OCTOBER 2011. ROTORS AGAIN REPLACED IN FEB.2012 DUE TO WARPING AND AGAIN REPLACED DUE TO WARPING IN SEPT.2012. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REAR STEERING CONTROL ARM RECALL THEY FOUND THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CONTROL ARM. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED. LESS THAN A MONTH HAS GONE BY AND I AM STARTING TO FEEL A SHIMMY AGAIN. DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR ANYMORE. CAR IS GARAGE KEPT AND UP TO DATE WITH SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. ALSO PART-TIME LIGHT ON DASH RANDOMLY FLASHES ON AND OFF. HOW LONG UNTIL THE DRIVERS SIDE CONTROL ARM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED? *TR
EVERYTIME I GET MY GAS TANK FILLED ON MY JEEP LIBERTY IT SPILLS OVER ONTO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND AND MAKES MY CAR SMELL OF GAS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER, THIS FIRST OCCURRED WHILE I WAS AT A FULL SERVICE GAS STATION I HEARD THE PUMP STOP FOLLOWED BY GAS POURING OUT AND THE SERVICE ATTENDANT YELLED, JEEP MUST BE FULL! NATURALLY I TOLD THE GAS ATTENDANT HE OVERFILLED MY TANK AND HIS RESPONSE WAS, NO ITS JUST A JEEP THING, AT FIRST I DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM BUT THEN THE NEXT TIME A FILLED IT AT ANOTHER GAS STATION THE SAME THING HAPPENED (FULL SERVICE AS WELL) I THEN FILLED THE TANK MYSELF THE FOLLOWING TIME AND IT HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL! NATURALLY I DON'T FILL MY TANK ANYMORE! I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AND NOW I AM HEARING ABOUT ALL THESE RECALLS ON SUSPENSION AND GAS TANKS EXPLODING IT REAR ENDED! I THINK IT IS TIME FOR CHRYSLER TO STEP UP AND RECALL THESE DEATH TRAPS! I LIKE MY JEEP, THE WAY IT DRIVES AND THE 4X4 FEATURE BUT THIS IS JUST TO RISKY TO KEEP THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROAD, HOW MANY PEOPLE NEED TO GET HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO DISH OUT THE MONEY FOR THE RECALL. THEY PROBABLY WOULDN'T WANT THEIR KIDS IN A VEHICLE LIKE THAT, SO WHY SHOULD OURS?!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPILLED ON HIM AND THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO CONFIRMED THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
THE BALL JOINT ON THE FRONT LEFT SIDE BROKE, CAUSING MULTIPLE DAMAGE. IT OCCURRED AGAIN FEBRUARY 2011 ON THE LEFT SIDE. LUCKILY, WE WERE NOT DRIVING AT THE TIME IT OCCURRED. MOST RECENTLY, THE FRONT BALL JOINT BROKE AGAIN CAUSING $900 IN DAMAGES. THE CHRYSLER GROUP HAS REFUSED TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE RECURRING DEFAULT. *TR
FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY JEEP LIBERTY 2006 GAS SPILLS OUT. THIS IS FRUSTRATING ESPECIALLY WITH THE PRICE OF GAS. I ESTIMATE THAT I LOSE AT LEAST A GALLON EACH TIME. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE JEEP I NOTICED THAT YOU COULD NOT "TOP OFF" THE GAS WHICH EACH FILL. BUT NOW IT JUST SPILLS OUT ALL OVER. HELP!! *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY VEHICLE AT A GAS STATION GAS COMES POURING OUT AFTER THE TANK IS FULL. THE GAS NOZZLE CLICKS OFF AND GAS BEGINS TO POUR OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. I HAVE TRIED MANUALLY PUMPING AS WELL AS AUTOMATICALLY PUMPING WITH THE SAME RESULTS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED FILLING AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS WITH THE SAME OUTCOME. THIS DID NOT OCCUR THE FIRST YEAR THAT I OWNED MY CAR, AND ONLY BEGAN IN THE PAST COUPLE MONTHS. THIS IS A HAZARD TO THE ENVIRONMENT AND A POTENTIAL DANGER FOR A FIRE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED 4X4 WITH A 3.7L V6 ENGINE THAT OVERFLOWS GAS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN REFUELING NO MATTER HOW FAST THE FLOW OF GAS IS FLOWING. VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 66,000 MILES AND HAS ONLY STARTED HAPPENING IN THE LAST 3,000 MILES OR SO. *TR
IN JULY 2009 THE LEFT, REAR PASSENGER WINDOW IN MY JEEP LIBERTY FELL DOWN BY ITSELF. IN DEC. 2010 THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW IN THE SAME VEHICLE FELL DOWN BY ITSELF DURING A SNOW STORM CAUSING APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES OF SNOW TO ACCUMULATE IN MY VEHICLE. THESE ARE WINDOWS THAT ARE RARELY USED. BOTH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS AT CHRYSLER ADVISED ME THAT THERE IS A FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR IN THE JEEP VEHICLES WHICH CAUSES THIS PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN MADE. *TR
VEHICLES STALLS AFTER EXTENDED OFF PERIOD. VEHICLE SHUDDERS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. CHRYSLER HAS 2 TSBS TO FIX THIS- 21-016-05 AND 21-009-06 WHICH CALLS FOR REPLACING A TROUBLE PRONE TORQUE CONVERTER. CHRYSLER HAS AN UPDATED TORQUE CONVERTER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM YET WILL NOT TAKE ACTION TO FIX THE VEHICLE EVEN AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS SINCE 2006 TO GET TRANSMISSION FIXED PROPERLY. I WOULD LIKE THIS LOOKED INTO AS MYSELF AND NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS OF THE 2005-2006 JEEP LIBERTY WITH THE DIESEL ENGINE EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAS STALLED AFTER STARTING ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS CAUSING CONCERN FOR ACTION SINCE I HAVE HAD MY PREGNANT WIFE WITNESS THIS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATOR OF MY REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW BROKE CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL INTO THE DOOR. LUCKILY MY CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME AND I DON'T LIVE IN AN AREA THAT IS GETTING SNOWED ON. THIS IS AT LEAST THE 12TH TIME ONE OF THE REGULATORS HAS BROKE SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2006. *TR
THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATORS CONTINUE TO FAIL. I HAVE HAD TO REPAIR THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR TWICE, THE LEFT WINDOW REGULATOR ONCE AND THE RIGHT REGULATOR TWICE. THE FIRST THREE REPAIRS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, THE FOURTH ONE I HAD TO REQUEST RE-IMBURSEMENT FROM JEEP WHICH WAS GRANTED AFTER CORRESPONDENCE WITH JEEP. THE FIFTH TIME I AM STILL NEGOTIATING WITH JEEP. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AS THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
FUEL SYSTEM NOZZLE ALLOWS FUEL TO BE EXPELLED AFTER PUMP AUTO SHUTOFF ENGAGES CAUSING FUEL TO SPILL ON VEHICLE AND ONTO PAVEMENT. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH. WAS NOT ROLLING UP OR DOWN THE POWER WINDOWS, WHEN THE BACK WINDOW SUDDENLY FELL FROM BEING CLOSED TO HALF OPEN. IT WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. IT WAS STARTLING AND DISTRACTED MY DRIVING MOMENTARILY. FAULTY REGULATORS WERE THE CAUSE OF PREVIOUS FAILURES AND THE BROKEN GLASS AND I EXPECT THE SAME DETERMINATION WILL BE MADE WHEN I BRING IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP LATER THIS WEEK FOR REPAIR. THE MOST RECENT (NOV. 29, 2010) FAILURE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK WINDOW WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED ON THIS PARTICULARLY WINDOW. PREVIOUS REPAIRS INVOLVED WINDOW AND REGULATOR REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A MASSIVE PROBLEM WITH JEEP LIBERTY SUVS AND A REAL SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN IN MY OPINION. *TR
FAILURE OF HIGH-PRESSURE SEND/RECEIVE POWER STEERING LINE DUE TO RUSTED CONNECTOR ON A VEHICLE WITH 42,000 MILES ON IT LEADING TO A $600 REPAIR AND LOSS OF USE OF MY VEHICLE FOR OVER A WEEK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY ACCORDING TO MANY LIBERTY OWNERS AND JEEP WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PART, WHICH REPEATEDLY FAILS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. AFTER ROLLING THE POWER WINDOW DOWN AND ATTEMPTING TO ROLL IT BACK UP, THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH FAILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,506.

2006 JEEP LIBERTY OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING WITH GAS. GAS SPRAYS OUT WITH SIGNIFICANT FORCE. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A 2006 DURNAGO AND THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AND FILL NECK NEEDED REPLACED. 2005 MODELS WERE RECALLED, NOTHING ON 2006 YET. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY MADE IN MAY 06. THIS MODEL IS SIMILAR TO THE 07. GAS TANK FILLING TO FULL, GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT THE GAS INLET WITH MUCH BACK PRESSURE. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS CONSISTENTLY FOR THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WHAT STATION I GO TO, OR HOW FAST THE GASOLINE IS FLOWING. *TR

THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FELL OFF OF ITS TRACK AND FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR, WHERE MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SEATED, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN 65 MPH DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY, ON THE WAY TO VISIT FAMILY OUT OF STATE. I HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT A YEAR AGO, BUT WITH THE DRIVERSIDE WINDOW. THIS WINDOW TRACK WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE GLASS HAD TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET (BECAUSE OF A CHANGE DONE TO THE NEW TRACK). THE RECENT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. *TR
SUDDENLY STARTED OVER-FLOWING GAS OUT THE FILLER TUBE UPON FILLING. HAS HAPPENED WITH MULTIPLE FILLING STATIONS FOR ABOUT THE LAST 6 OR 8 FILLINGS. NEVER HAPPENED PRIOR TO THAT. THERE HAVE BEEN NO MODIFICATIONS, DAMAGE, OR CHANGES IN THE FUEL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE.
1. POWER WINDOWS - THREE OUT OF FOUR OF THE POWER WINDOWS ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT HAVE FALLEN WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. IT IS NOT WEAR AND TEAR BECAUSE I HARDLY USE THE BACK WINDOWS, IT IS A DEFECT. I HAVE AN INFANT DAUGHTER AND THIS IS A HAZARD FOR HER SINCE SHE HAS TO RIDE IN THE BACK. 2. ELECTRICAL SENSORS - WHILE COMING TO A SLOW STOP OR TURNING MY VEHICLE HAS SUDDENLY SHUT OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *****BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE COMMON WITH THIS MAKE & MODEL. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? IS CHRYSLER WAITING ON SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE THEY MAKE A MOVE? I CAN'T AFFORD THE RIDICULOUS PRICE TO HAVE THESE DEFECTS FIXED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS FOR THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS FAILED. THE WINDOWS HAD FALLEN DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANELS ABNORMALLY AND COULD NOT BE CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACES AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,785.
MY CAR WAS PARKED, WHEN THE REGULATOR FOR THE BACK PASSENGER'S SIDE WINDOW BROKE CAUSING THE WINDOW TO FALL COMPLETELY INTO THE DOOR. THIS IS AT LEAST THE 13 TIME ONE OF THE REGULATORS HAS BROKEN IN MY LIBERTY. THIS TIME I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE MY CAR WAS PARKED. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TIMES IT HAS BROKEN WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY PASSENGERS. JEEP HAS NOT YET RECALLED THE PART EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THE PART IS FAULTY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW FELL OFF IT'S TRACK. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, THE OTHER TIMES INVOLVED THE FRONT PASSENGER'S WINDOW IN APRIL OF '07, AND THE LEFT REAR WINDOW IN JULY OF '08.. THE FIRST TWO WERE COVERED BY WARRANTY. OUR '06 JEEP IS ONE YEAR PAST THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY AND HAS ABOUT 22,000 MILES. I HAVE TALKED WITH TWO DEALERS AND THE CHRYSLER COMPLAINT LINE AND THE INFORMATION SO FAR IS THAT CHRYSLER, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS PERVASIVE ENOUGH THAT THEY ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN # 23-008-09 TO THE DEALERS ACKNOWLEDGING THE CHRONIC PROBLEM, WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND MAKES THE OWNER FOOT THE BILL. I HAVE SINCE BEEN ONLINE AND THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF SIMILAR INSTANCES BEING REPORTED. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO SUCK IT UP AND ISSUE A RECALL. PERIOD. *TR
YET AGAIN, A COMPLAINT AGAINST THE FAULTY WINDOW REGULATOR IN THE JEEP LIBERTY. I'VE HAD 2 WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS AND JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE FAULTY PART. *TR
I PURCHASED A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4 LAST DECEMBER AND SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 4 BROKEN WINDOW REGULATORS. CLEARLY THESE PLASTIC REGULATORS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND EASILY BREAK. THERE APPEAR TO BE HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE RELATING TO THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED WITH APPROXIMATELY 88,000 MILES ON IT. RECENTLY I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A PROBLEM WHERE THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE DOES NOT SHUT ITSELF OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHEN MY FUEL TANK IS FULL. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP AT THE STATION, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED AT MULTIPLE STATIONS AND EVERY TIME I PUMP FUEL. I'VE JUST BEEN TRYING TO PAY CLOSE ATTENTION AND STOP THE FUEL FLOW BEFORE MY TANK GETS FULL. THIS OVERFLOWING FUEL IS GOING TO DAMAGE THE PAINT ON MY VEHICLE AND IS A FIRE HAZARD AT THE GAS STATION, NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THE FUEL HAS SPEWED ONTO MY SHOES AND CLOTHING ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE PROGRESSING NOW, AS YESTERDAY WHEN I WENT TO GET FUEL, THE NOZZLE SPEWED IMMEDIATELY UPON BEGINNING TO PUMP (AND THE TANK WAS NEARLY EMPTY AS MY FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR HAD JUST GONE OFF). THE ONLY WAY I COULD GET FUEL INTO MY TANK WAS TO MANUALLY CONTROL THE FLOW WITH THE NOZZLE SO THAT IT WENT INTO THE TANK VERY SLOWLY. I HAVE CONTACTED MY JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HAVE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT LATER THIS WEEK. I'VE READ ABOUT A LOT OF OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE, AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY WILL NEED TO REPLACE MY FUEL TANK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE. A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID DID NOT CIRCULATE THROUGH THE SEALS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 86,000.
THREE OF THE FOUR WINDOWS HAVE HAD THE REGULATORS BREAK - THE FIRST ONE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, THE SECOND THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME (EVEN THOUGH I HAD A WARRANTY IN EFFECT) AND THE THIRD WINDOW IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN PLACE BY GORILLA TAPE (THE VIEW OUT THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW IS FORTUNATELY NOT OBSCURED). THIS WINDOW STARTED FALLING IN WHEN WE HIT A BUMP DRIVING DOWN I-95 AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. GIVEN THE HUGE NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL YEAR WITH THE WINDOW REGULATORS, IT SEEMS INEVITABLE THAT THE WINDOW OF THE FINAL WINDOW WILL GIVE WAY AT SOME UNKNOWN POINT IN THE FUTURE. WHY JEEP HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS IS INEXCUSABLE. *TR
HARD TO GET 4-WHEEL DRIVE IN GEAR. I HAD SERVICE TECH. TALK ME THRU SINCE IT WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. 4-WHEEL DRIVE LEVER/GEAR BROKE COMPLETELY ON FEB. 3, 2014. *TR
