TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE AIR CONDITIONER EMITTED HOT AIR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A FEW TIMES WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE COMPRESSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THREE PREVIOUS TIMES ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,787.
MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S BACK DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR IS BROKEN. THE WINDOW WILL NOT STAY UP AND FALLS DOWN PART WAY WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND NEEDS TO BE PULLED BACK UP MANUALLY WHEN YOU STOP. WHEN YOU PRESS THE BUTTON FOR THE WINDOW, YOU CAN HEAR THE WINDOW MOTOR RUNNING, BUT THE WINDOW WILL NOT GO UP. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD JUST OVER 48,000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT FOR THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS BEEN ISSUED BY CHRYSLER TO REPAIR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S WITH THIS PROBLEM WHICH WERE MANUFACTURED AFTER MARCH, 2006. MY JEEP WAS MANUFACTURED IN FEB. OF 2006. THIS WINDOW REGULATOR WARRANTY NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO ALL 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S. ACCORDING TO COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET, THIS REPAIR CAN BE $400 AND UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW COULD ONLY BE CLOSED PARTIALLY. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE A WARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
VEHICLE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY AND THE REAR DOOR WINDOWS JUST FALL IN TO THE INNER DOOR PANEL, MUST REMOVE PANEL TO RETRIEVE WINDOW AND BRACE UP. IF CHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT I WOULD HATE TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WITH AS MANY COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ ON LINE ABOUT THIS NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. THE REAR AUTOMATIC WINDOWS ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL AND CANNOT BE RAISED WITH THE REGULATOR. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND FORCED ME TO DRIVE WITH AN OPEN WINDOW DURING A STORM HEAVY RAIN, THE REAR INTERIOR OF MY CAR WAS DAMAGED. I HAVE HAD THE REAR WINDOWS REPAIRED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES, AND THEY CONTINUE TO BREAK, AT TIMES THAT ARE UNSAFE. IT ALSO PREVENTS ME FROM PROPERLY SECURING THE VEHICLE FROM THEFT UNTIL I CAN GET TO THE DEALER AND THEY CAN "REPAIR" IT WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART OVER AND OVER AGAIN. YOU HAVE SO MANY COMPLAINTS FROM MANY CONSUMERS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLE, BUT NO RECALL. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR A DEATH? *TT
I PURCHASED MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN MAY 2011, HOWEVER I HAVE TO WINDOWS THAT JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE WINDOWS JUST FAIL COMPLETELY DOWN WITHOUT ANY WARNING ONE WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHICH COULD HAVE SHATTER AND HURT MY PASSENGER. I CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER JEEP MANUFACTURE COMPLIANT LINE BUT THEY WERE NO HELP. I WAS GIVEN A PHONE NUMBER TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I HAVE WARRANTY ON THE WINDOWS THAT ONLY COVER THE LIST PLATE (IF THAT'S THE PROBLEM) FOR MY BACK WINDOW ONLY. THE PROBLEM AFTER RESEARCHING IT THIS MORNING ON THE INTERNET IS THE REGULATORS IN THE WINDOWS WHICH ARE VERY COSTLY TO REPAIR APPROX. $260 PER WINDOW. IN THIS ECONOMY I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPAIR THIS AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BECAUSE THERE IS SOME KIND OF MAL-FUNCTION WITH THE PARTS INSIDE OF THE WINDOWS. THEY NEED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OWNER OF THEM WILL SPEND MONEY REPAIRING THE SAME PROBLEM AT LEAST 3 TO 4 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. *TR
ENGINE LIGHT WOULD FLASH FOR 5-10 SECONDS AND ENGINE WOULD HESITATE. AFTER THIS OCCURRED 2 OR 3 TIMES THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. MECHANIC REPLACED O2 SENSOR PER ENGINE CODE. PROBLEM CONTINUED. WENT TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED PLUGS AND DID DIAGNOSTIC. PROBLEM CONTINUED. WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP TWO MORE TIMES AND THEY NOW SAID THAT A NHTSB SAID LIBERTY WAS HAVING VALUE PROBLEMS. THEY REPLACED LEFT SIDE VALUES. TWO DAYS LATER SAME PROBLEM CONTINUED. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED CHRYSLER AND WERE TOLD TO REPLACE CYLINDER BLOCK. REPLACED BLOCK. ONE DAY LATER, SAME PROBLEM. VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERHIP FOR THE 6TH TIME AND NO SOLUTION. CONTACTED CHRYSLER, HAVE HAD 5 DIFFERENT CASE MANAGERS AND NO SATISFACTION, JUST THE RUN AROUND. *TT
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT. GETTING READY TO RETURN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY (4X4) TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP FOR THE 8TH TIME. ENGINE HESITATES, LOSES POWER AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY COMES AND STAYS ON. THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE THE FOLLOWING: REPLACED O2 SENSORS, PLUGS (THREE TIMES), RUN NUMEROUS DIAGNOSTICS, REPLACED LEFT SIDE VALUES, REPLACED LEFT SIDE CYLINDER BLOCK, REPLACED RIGHT SIDE CYLINDER BLOCK AND ALSO REPLACED THE LEFT SIDE CYLINDER BLOCK THEY REPLACED THE TIME BEFORE, REPLACED TIMING HOUSING GASKET, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE. CHRYSLER AND MECHANICS CAN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ALL MY RESEARCH SAYS THIS ENGINE IS FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ENGINE AND VEHICLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. AFTER THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT, NOTHING HAS BEEN RESOLVED. AFTER OVER TWO MONTHS WITH 5 DIFFERENT CHRYSLER CASE MANAGERS, THEY ONLY WANT TO GIVE ME $350 FOR THIS PROBLEM. NO CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TAXPAYERS HAVE BAILED OUT THIS COMPANY. *TR

RIGHT REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED CAUSING WINDOW TO FALL. INABILITY TO CLOSE WINDOW CREATES CABIN PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS AT ALL SPEEDS. THESE PRESSURE CHANGES ARE INTENSE AND CAUSE A DISTRACTION AND LIMIT DRIVER'S HEARING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW DETACHED AND DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE ELECTRONIC KEY FOB WAS USED BUT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE DOORS TO BE OPENED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL AND COULD NOT BE CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE REGULATOR IN THE DOOR HAD FAILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 32,000. REAR DRIVER SIDE POWER WINDOW DROPPED FULL OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY ON 2006 JEEP LIBERTY; ORIGINAL OWNER OF VEHICLE WITH 71,00+/- MILES. REPAIRED AT DEALER(COSTLY). FROM INTERNET SEARCH APPEARS THIS PROBLEM IS SYSTEMIC TO 2006-2007 MODELS AND REPEAT FAILURE NOT UNHEARD OF...VERY SCARY AT 65MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A TOTAL OF TWO TIMES. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE REPAIR COSTS BECAUSE THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES ADDRESSING THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH AND ACTUATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,790.
REAR PASSENGER ELECTRIC WINDOW FAILED. SLID DOWN, WOULD NOT CLOSE. REPAIRED. FAILED AGAIN ABOUT THE 4TH OF FIFTH TIME IT WAS USED. *TR
LAST YEAR AROUND AUG 2011 MY KEY STUCK IN THE KEY SLOT COULDN'T EVEN GET IT OUT HAD AFTER A WHILE FIGURED OUT IF U PUSH THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY IN THEN PUT IN PARK THEN SOMETIMES THE KEY WOULD COME OUT STARTED WORKIN AFTER ABOUT 2 TO 3MONTHS LATER THEN ON FEB 27 12 IT STARTED 2 STICK AGAIN THEN IT WOULDN'T START WE CALLED CHRYSLER. THEY TOLD US 2 HAVE IT HAULED 2 SOME WHERE 2 HAVE IT CHECKED ITS AT LEE AUTO IN AURBON MAINE THEY WE ARE NOW PAYING 200$ AND THEY HAVE NOT FIGURED OUT WHAT IT IS -CHRYSLER, GAVE US A CASE NUM [XXX] AND THEY TOLD MY HUSBAND IF IT IS A FAULTY PART THEY MIGHT HELP PAY FOR IT. ITS HAS ONLY 72000 2 74000 MILES ON IT WE HAD 2 PUT A NEW FUEL PUMP IN IT ALREADY IN 2011-I THINK WE GOT THE LEMON RIGHT NOW I HAVE 2 REALLY ON SOME ONE 2 GIVE ME A RIDE 2 WORK OYA WE ALL SO WENT THROUGH A SET OF TIRE 1 YEAR AFTER ALIGNMENT. MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAS A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK. WHEN FILLING THE TANK COMPLETELY FULL, THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE WILL SHUT OFF ONLY TO HAVE GASOLINE COME POURING OUT OF THE TANK ONTO ME, MY CLOTHES, THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM, IT TURNS OUT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. JEEP SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING GAS TANKS THAT ARE DEEMED TO FAIL. THE COST OF THIS GAS TANK ALONE, QUOTED BY THE DEALERSHIP IS $1400.00, AND THE FILLER LINE IS AN ADDITIONAL $300.00. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. ENGINE PROBLEMS ARE ONE THING, PARTS DUE WEAR OVER TIME AND THIS IS UNDERSTANDABLE. BUT TO HAVE A GAS TANK THAT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS BY SPEWING GASOLINE AT CONSUMERS AND BEING AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. AND CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. AND LETS NOT FORGET THAT THE GOVERNMENT SPENT MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO BALE THEM OUT, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE TAXPAYERS MONEY, OUR MONEY, AND THEY WON'T STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS. SHAME ON YOU!! LEFT REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. DEALER SERVICE SAID THE REGULATOR WAS OK BUT THE LIFT PLATE WAS BROKEN. YET AGAIN, THIS IS A DOOR THAT HAS NOT BEEN USED IN THE LAST 4 WEEKS AT A MINIMUM. CHRYSLER SERVICE REP WHO TOOK INITIAL CALL SAID THAT HE GETS LOTS OF CALLS FOR THIS ON 2005 & 2006 MODELS. HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT MOST OF THE TIME IS IT IN DOORS THAT ARE SELDOM USED. CHRYSLER CASE MANAGER STATED THAT CHRYSLER IS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS A SECURITY ISSUE. *KB
DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *TR
UPON FILLING GAS TANK WITH FUEL, THE SHUTOFF ENGAGES TOO LATE, AND GASOLINE POURS OUT DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ONTO THE GROUND. THIS DOES NOT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION IS UTILIZED, BUT HAPPENS WHENEVER REACHING A FULL TANK, EVEN WHEN CARE IS TAKEN NOT TO ENGAGE THE SPOUT AT ITS MAXIMUM CAPACITY. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE, SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR LAST SEPTEMBER, AND SO THE FOLLOWING "APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE" SHOULD BE - ONGOING. *TR
AC COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT.. ALSO THE COMPUTER WENT ON IT AND THAT WAS REPAIRED ON 10/11/13... I WAS TOLD THE SPARK PLUGS WERE WRONG. I HAVE NEVER HAD A TUNE UP OR MY SPARK PLUGS CHANGED! UNLESS THE WRONG ONES WERE IN THERE WHEN I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006. OR POSSIBLY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP DID IT TO GET A REPAIR. SAFFORD IN SPRINGFIELD VA. I WILL NOT STOP PERUSING THIS UNTIL I HAVE ANSWERS. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH YEAR THAT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MECHANISM IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. EACH YEAR, THE MECHANISM HAS FAILED WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT RUNNING (AUGUST 2007, JUNE 2009, JULY 2010, JUNE 2011). I HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOME MODELS OF JEEP'S TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR MY VIN GROUP. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I CANNOT SECURE MY VEHICLE WHILE I AM AWAY AND SOMEONE WOULD BE ABLE TO GET INTO MY VEHICLE AND COULD BE WAITING FOR ME TO COME BACK. ALSO, THE INTEGRITY OF THE INTERIOR IS COMPROMISED IF AN ACCIDENT WOULD OCCUR DUE TO THE WINDOW NOT BEING UP. THE WINDOW MECHANISM HAS BEEN REPLACED EACH YEAR BUT WITH THE SAME PART. NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN DONE TO HELP ENSURE THIS PROBLEM WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAVE CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD TO USE THIS WEBSITE TO LODGE MY COMPLAINT. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL WITH RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM EACH YEAR. *TR
I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS DURING THE PAST SIX MONTHS, AND I'M STARTING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH BOTH FRONT WINDOWS AGAIN, WHICH WERE THE MOST RECENTLY REPLACED AT ABOUT TWO - THREE MONTHS AGO (LESS THAN 50,000 MILES) AT THE DEALERSHIP. IT SEEMS THE ORIGINAL WINDOW PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE, BUT THE DEALERSHIP'S REPLACEMENTS (THAT I PAID FOR) ARE MUCH WORSE. I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS, MY VEHICLE AND MY BELONGINGS WITH THIS ONGOING ISSUE. AND I AM ANGRY ABOUT THE TIME AND EXPENSE IT CONTINUES TO CAUSE. THE FORM WOULDN'T LET ME COMPLETE WITH THE CORRECT REQUIRED INFORMATION, BUT LIMITED MY CHOICES TO THOSE THAT DID NOT APPLY.....FYI *TR
EVERY TIME I TRY TO FILL THE GAS TANK, IT OVERFLOWS. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT STATION OR PUMP. IF I USE THE AUTOMATIC LEVER ON THE PUMP, THE GAS COMES SQUIRTING OUT ALL OVER MY CAR, MY SHOES, AND THE GROUND. EVEN IF I DON'T USE THE LEVER, AND SQUEEZE THE PUMP HANDLE MYSELF, THE PUMP STILL DOES NOT SHUT OFF BEFORE OVERFLOWING. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR, NOT THE GAS PUMP OR THE OPERATOR.
MY JEEP LIBERTY 2006 HAS HUGE WINDOW ISSUES- ALREADY HAVE HAD 2 REGULATORS REPLACED AND WORKING ON THE THIRD- JEEP SAYS THEY WILL ONLY FIX THE WINDOW LIFT PLATE, BUT IT'S THE WHOLE REGULATOR THAT'S BAD AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT- IF I HAVE IT FIXED, IT'S OVER $300 PER WINDOW, AND CHARGED ME A $90 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO TELL ME THIS- WHEN IS A RECALL GOING TO BE ISSUED? NOT A SAFETY ISSUE?! TELL THAT TO THOSE OF US WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT AND A WINDOW FALLS DOWN @ 55 MPH! JEEP NEEDS TO REPLACE ALL FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS AND AT THEIR COST, NOT MINE! THE CAR WAS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN IT SLID DOWN AN INCH BUT DID NOT KEEP GOING. WHEN WE TRIED TO PUT THE WINDOW BACK UP, IT DID NOT MOVE BUT THE MOTOR KEPT SPINNING. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I USUALLY HAVE MY CHILD RIDING IN THE BACKSEAT AND STUFF CAN FLY INTO THE CAR AND CAUSE INJURIES. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED IT FOR AROUND $400. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AS BEING COMMON BUT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS GIVEN TO OLDER MODELS. I CALLED THE NATIONAL CHRYSLER HOTLINE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN NOT ESCALATE MY ISSUE UNLESS IT OCCURRED MORE OFTEN. *TR
WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN FROM JEEP LIBERTY 13 TIMES. WINDOWS WILL FALL WHILE DRIVING OR WHILE PARKED WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAS DEFECTIVE WINDOWS THAT FALL DOWN AND PRESENT A SAFETY HAZARD. THE 2007 JEEP LIBERTY VEHICLES HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR THE SAME DEFECT. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE SAME WARRANTY. *TR
FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS THE GAS TANK BELCHES FUEL EVERY TIME IF THE TANK IS FILLED UP. I NEVER TOP OFF THE TANK BUT BY THE TIME THE AUTOMATIC RELEASE ON THE FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF ABOUT 1/2 SECOND LATER SEVERAL OUNCES OF FUEL POUR OUT OF THE GAS TANK AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND. IT SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE. IS THERE A RECALL OR INVESTIGATION FOR THIS PROBLEM? *JS
2006 JEEP LIBERTY FUEL OVERFLOW HAZARD. WHEN REFUELING OUR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, FUEL OVERFLOWS AFTER FUEL PUMP AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF IS TRIGGERED. THIS OVERFLOW NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS REFUELED. NO ONE IS ATTEMPTING TO "TOP OFF" THE FUEL TANK. THE OVERFLOW CAUSES A QUANTITY OF FUEL, THAT I ESTIMATE AT TWO TO FOUR CUPS, TO SPILL ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS FUEL OVERFLOW FLAW CREATES AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION RISK. THIS FLAW OCCURS IN THE WRANGLER MODEL OF CHRYSLER JEEP PRODUCTS ALSO, WHERE A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THE SAME FLAW IS OCCURRING IN MANY THOUSANDS OF JEEP LIBERTY'S AS IS EVIDENT BY THE HUGE VOLUME OF OWNER STATEMENTS POSTED ON MANY WEBSITES. GO CHRYSLER JEEP IN ENGLEWOOD, CO QUOTED A REPAIR COST OF $2031.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE OVERFLOW FLAW FIRST OCCURRED IN MY JEEP LIBERTY, IT WAS AN OCCASIONAL PROBLEM THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO PREDICT AND WITHOUT A RECALL NOTICE, CONSUMERS ARE UNAWARE OF THIS HAZARD. THIS FLAW CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE PERSON REFUELING THE VEHICLE AND ANYONE NEARBY. THE FUEL SPILLED HAS CAUSED PROPERTY DAMAGE IN THE FORM OF RUINED CLOTHING AND SHOES, AND POSSIBLY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AS FUEL RUNS DOWN THE SIDE INTO CREVICES AROUND THE REAR WHEEL AND AXLE. THIS SPILLED FUEL COULD REACH THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE AND EXPLODE. WHY WOULD THE MANUFACTURER COVER THIS FLAW UNDER WARRANTY FOR ONE MAKE AND MODEL, THE JEEP WRANGLER, AND NOT COVER THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER MAKE AND MODEL, THE JEEP LIBERTY? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE ONE OF THE REAR AUTOMATIC WINDOWS, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD POP AND THE WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PLASTIC WINDOW TRAY FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
BOTH TAILLIGHTS MELTED. THE INSIDE COVER AROUND THE BULB MELTED ONTO THE BULB. THE OUTSIDE COVER MELTED TO BE CONCAVE IN SHAPE. I REMOVED THE MELTED INSIDE PIECES AND REPLACED THE BULBS. I LATER CRACKED THE RIGHT TAILLIGHT AND REPLACED IT. THE OUTSIDE COVER OF THE NEW RIGHT TAILLIGHT HAS MELTED TO BE CONCAVE BUT STILL WORKS. IN MAY OF 2011 THE LEFT TAILLIGHT BRAKE LIGHT BULB WAS OUT. I REPLACED THE BULB BUT IT DID NOT WORK. I REPLACED THE SOCKET AND IT STILL DIDN'T WORK BECAUSE IT WAS MELTED SO BAD. I FINALLY ENDED UP REPLACING THE TAILLIGHT. THE PARTS GUY SAID THERE WAS A NOTATION THAT IF YOU WERE REPLACING THE TAILLIGHT BECAUSE IT MELTED THIS NEW TAILLIGHT WAS MUCH BETTER. SO, THEY KNOW THE TAILLIGHTS MELT BUT ARE UNWILLING TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT. *TR
WE OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT, AND THE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE AND HAD TO PAY $250 TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE. IN THE BILL WE NOTICE IT READ "UPDATED WINDOW REGULATOR" WHICH MADE ME DO SOME RESEARCH AND APPARENTLY THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF JEEP LIBERTIES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT CHRYSLER WILL NOT RECALL THE PART. FOR US IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE WE HAVE A BABY IN THE REAR SEAT WHO WAS EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. OF COURSE THE CAR COMPANY AND THE DEALERSHIPS STILL CHARGE YOU $150 FOR DIAGNOSTIC (ALTHOUGH THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS) AND $100 FOR THE PART PLUS OTHER FEES. SOME PEOPLE I FOUND HAVE HAD ALL WINDOWS REPLACED TO A COST OF APROX $1000 THIS IS NOT FAIR, THEY KNOW THE PART IS DEFECTIVE, THEY SHOULD FIX IT. THEY DO ACCEPT GOVERNMENT MONEY TO BE SAVED BUT THE CONSUMER IS ON ITS OWN. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TURBO CHARGER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER SO THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
ABS, ESP, BRAKE LIGHT, BATTERY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, COME OFF AND ON I HAVE TOOK IT TO JEEP AT TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, NEITHER PLACE HAS BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE MY PROBLEM, I EVEN DROVE WITH TECH IN THE CAR, HE SAW THE LIGHT COME ON AND WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY JEEP LIBERTY HAVE FAILED ONE AFTER THE OTHER . I HAVE NOW REPLACED ALL REGULATORS MORE THAN ONCE. *TR

THE DRIVERS FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS WERE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THEM UNDER WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY EXPIRED WHICH PREVENTED THE REMAINING WINDOWS FROM BEING REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE; THEREFORE, SHE HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

(2) - WINDOW REGULATOR'S FAILED, ON THE JEEP SPORT, (1) ON THE DRIVER'S REAR WINDOW, THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED ON 09/19/11 & (1) WINDOW REGULATOR AGAIN ON THE SAME WINDOW ON 10/08/14 NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, THE SAME WINDOW REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE FIXED TWICE WITHIN THREE YEARS & 20 DAYS, THE DEALER WOULD NOT FIX THE WINDOW UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE EXP. DATE BY 20 DAYS, WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE WINDOW REGULATORS BECAUSE IT'S A PLASTIC PART AND THAT'S WHY IT KEEPS FAILING, THAT'S JUST BULL I HAVE SPENT OVER 1200.00 DOLLARS ON REPAIRS ON WINDOWS REGULATOR'S ALONE & IT'S THE SAME PART EACH TIME ALL 4-WINDOWS, I USED TO BE A GREAT FAN OF JEEP, I'VE OWNED JEEPS FOR (20) YEARS NOW, BUT I HAVE BECOME REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY VEHICLE'S, THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 65 MPH WHEN THE WINDOW SUDDENLY OPENED, THE WIND RIPPED THROUGH MY VEHICLE STARTED TO BLOW THINGS AROUND SO BAD THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TAPE MY WINDOW UP SO I COULD MAKE IT HOME, AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE, ALOT OF JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO THEM AND HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDOW REGULATORS, THANK YOU *TR
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY, AND UNEXPECTEDLY, FELL OPEN FROM THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION WITH A LOUD CRASHING SOUND. ONE OPEN IT WAS UNABLE TO BE RE-CLOSED. FAILURE IN THIS MANNER WAS VERY STARTLING AND CAN BE SEEN SEEN AS AN UNNECESSARY DISTRACTION WHICH, IN MY OPINION, CONSTITUTES A SAFETY HAZARD. UPON INVESTIGATION I FOUND THAT THE PART OF THE MECHANISM THAT DIRECTLY SUPPORTS THE WINDOW IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND FURTHER IS OF INSUFFICIENT DIMENSION TO SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE GLASS THROUGH REPEATED CYCLES. THE DEALER OFFERED ME THE SAME INADEQUATE PART AS REPLACEMENT WHICH IS DESTINED FOR THE SAME FAILURE. *TR
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. STEERING WHEEL TURNS, SHIFTER WORKS, KEYS WILL NOT COME OUT OF IGNITION. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LEAST THREE TIMES AND COST $350 EACH TIME IT WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES ON THE LEFT REAR AND TWICE ON RIGHT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LIFT PLATE ON THE WINDOWS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,634 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A STEERING COLUMN PROBLEM. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED BY THE MECHANIC FOR $489 AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. CASE #20734725 WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WOULD BE NO REIMBURSEMENTS DUE TO THE MILEAGE, AND BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER DEALER; THEREFORE THE CASE WOULD BE CLOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000. UPDATED 06/06/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED TO TRY AND RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER STATED INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN THERE IS AN IGNITION ROD WHICH MUST MAKE CONTACT IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO START THE IGNITION ROD. UPDATED 06/20/11
