VEHICLE STALLED, ENGINE SHUT OFF WHEN BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. THE STALL POINT OF THE TRANSMISSION IS EXCEED, MAKING TRANSITION FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO REVERSE TOO MUCH, CAUSING A STALL. ALSO, IDLE IN DRIVE WHEN STOPPED THERE ARE SURGES THAT CAUSE A NEAR STALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN MAKING 2-POINT OR 3-POINT TURNS ON A ROAD WITH TRAFFIC. *TR
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY DAUGHTER, I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE OPEN SUNROOF AND HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE. A PART FLEW OFF OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SUNROOF WOULD NO LONGER CLOSE. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENTIRE MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACING. I ONLY HAD 37,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS REPAIR COST OVER $1000 AND HAD TO BE DONE AS A SECURITY ISSUE WOULD EXIST WITH AN OPEN SUNROOF THAT IS NOT ABLE TO BE CLOSED. CONTACTED CHRYSLER JEEP AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER ANY OF THE COST FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART. *JB
THIS PROBLEM PERTAINS TO THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY CRD 2.8L DIESEL. UNDER ACCELERATION FROM 55 MPH TO 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WOULD NOT GO OVER 3,000 RPM. WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWED TO 45 MPH, IT WOULD NOT INCREASE SPEED, EFFECTIVELY IN A "LIMP-IN MODE" . AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED, THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES THEN RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE TRAVELED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5-7 MILES WITH NO PROBLEMS THEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND AFTER TWO WEEKS THE DEALER BASICALLY GAVE UP TRYING TO FIX THE CAR. THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED AND AS I SCAN THE INTERNET I FIND THIS IS A COMMON YET DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
PLACED GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRE (DOT# MK87 FOWR 3305) ON BACK OF VEHICLE TO ACT AS SPARE (APPROX 13000 MILES ON TIRE) 2011/ PLACED TIRE ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT OF VEHICLE EARLY APRIL OF 2012. ON MAY 11, BEGAN TO TRAVEL FROM MONTGOMERY, AL TO FAIRHOPE, AL. APPROX. 100 MILES INTO TRIP (200 YARDS SOUTH OF MILE MARKER 81) INCIDENT OCCURRED. THERE WAS TREAD SEPARATION FROM TIRE WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE-65. PEELING TREAD RIPPED APART/OFF WHEEL WELL LINER, FENDER, RUNNING BOARD, ETC. RESULTING DEBRIS ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR COLLISION BETWEEN MYSELF AND A COMMERCIAL 18-WHEELER. DEFECTIVE TIRES TREAD SEPARATION LOOKS VERY SIMILAR TO PHOTOS OF DAMAGED GOODYEAR WRANGLER SILENT ARMOR TIRES, THE SAME TIRE LINE THAT WAS RECALLED FEB, 2012. THIS TIRE IS ALSO A GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRE WITH IDENTICAL FAILURES AS THOSE RECALLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH WHEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWAY ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY AND DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR AXLE CONTROL ARM WAS CORRODED AND HAD FRACTURED IN HALF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS FELL INWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW ACTUATOR CONTINUED TO FAIL ON THE VEHICLE. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TWICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW COULD ONLY BE PARTIALLY OPENED WHEN THE WINDOW WAS OPERATING PROPERLY, BUT THE WINDOW WOULD FALL ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL WHEN IT FAILED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON AND THE MANUFACTURER WOULD HAVE THE WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
CHECK VALVE IN FUEL TANK NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. DURING FILL-UP, THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS ONTO THE GROUND EVERY TIME. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN ONLINE FORUMS. WITH GAS ALWAYS SPILLING OVER, I WOULD ASSUME THAT THIS IS A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. *TR
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS VEHICLE STALLS UPON ENGAGING DRIVE OR REVERSE FROM PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE SHIFT IS MADE, THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO MOVE, THEN SUDDENLY IT STALLS, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. PARK OR NEUTRAL MUST BE QUICKLY RESELECTED TO RESTART VEHICLE. DANGER OF BEING IN AN INTERSECTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT HIGH. DEALER SAYS IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WITH NO SOLUTION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 65 MILES AN HOUR BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY APPARENT REASON. WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD AND AS SOON AS THE SMOKE CLEARED FROM THE VEHICLE WE DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALER THEY ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING AT IT BUT HAVEN'T GOT BACK TO US YET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAILING CLOCK SPRING, WHICH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAG POSSIBLY WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR COULD POSSIBLY DEPLOY INADVERTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. I OWN A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE REAR LEFT WINDOW FELL. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY RECALL LETTER STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS. APRIL 2013 I CAME OUT OF WORK TO FIND MY DIVER SIDE WINDOW DOWN. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS ONLY TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE RECALL WAS OVER. LAST YEAR I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE 1 OF 2 THINGS PLUGS OR O2 SENSORS. I HAD THE PLUGS AND THE UPPER AND LOWER BANK O2 SENSORS DONE 9 MONTHS AGO. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS GONE ON AND OFF OVER THE LAST 7 MONTHS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO DO THE SENSORS EVERY TIME THE LIGHT GOES ON. I HAVE HAD FUEL SPILL PROBLEMS THAT STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WHEN FILLING MY GAS TANK THE PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF FAST ENOUGH AND THERE IS AN OVERFLOW OF GASOLINE. NOT ONLY IS THIS A FIRE HAZARD BUT WITH THE PRICE OF GAS ITS A LOT MONEY WASTED. ALSO TWO WEEKS AGO MY JEEP HAS BEEN LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING. *TR
GEAR SHIFTER STUCK IN PARK, KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. SHIFTER HAD TO BE REPLACED.$431. *TR
DASHBOARD LIGHTS FOR ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND TRACTION CONTROL COME ON AND STAYED LIT UNTIL AFTER TURNING THE MOTOR OFF. THE SYSTEMS DON'T SEEM TO FUNCTION WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON. THIS OCCURS SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH WITH NO APPARENT REASON, IE: NOT SLIPPERY CONDITIONS, WEATHER IS VARIABLE. I NOTICED ANOTHER DRIVER SAID IT HAPPENS WHEN THEIR LIGHTS ARE ON. I ALWAYS DRIVE WITH MY LIGHTS ON, SO I DON'T KNOW IF THAT IS A FACTOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER REAR SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE WINDOW BECAME INOPERABLE. ALSO, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133, 000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND REAR WINDOWS FAILED. THE WINDOWS COULD NOT BE CLOSED OR OPENED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE WINDOWS REGULATORS FAILED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW FAILED TWICE. THE DEALER PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,411 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,510.
WHEN I PUT GAS IN MY JEEP IT BURPS GAS OUT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN 2012. I'VE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE WITH OTHER JEEPS OWNERS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD BE THAT IT WAS NOT A RECALL ON MY JEEP MODEL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD WHEN SHIFTING INTO ANY GEAR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO LOOSE POWER ABNORMALLY. THE EGR (EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION) VALVE MELTED, CAUSING A BURNING SMELL TO RELEASE INTO THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD SHIFT OUT OF PARK INDEPENDENTLY, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE BECAME DEFECTIVE, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN THE VEHICLE DOOR FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AND THE ABS, ESP AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,000. ....UPDATED 06/18/12 *BF THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CONTROL ARM ON THE VEHICLE AND BECAUSE OF THE WIDESPREAD PROBLEM A RECALL AS ISSUED. THE CONSUMER WAS THEN INFORMED THE RECALL WAS OLD, AND HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WOULD LOOSE POWER SUDDENLY AFTER DRIVING FORWARD, THE WINDOWS WOULD MAKE A DRAGGING NOISE, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER REPLACE, THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS REPLACED, THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS INOPERATIVE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER WAS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE SWAYED BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT FAILED PER F 23 RECALL OF JEEP CHRYSLER AND DAMAGED THE TIRE AND RIM WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED. WE FILED A CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE ON AUG 20, 2014 AND THEY WERE PROCESSING IT AND TOLD US THEY WOULD REIMBURSE THE $1146.83 NOT LATER THAN OCT 20, 2014. WE HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM CCASSISTANCE SO WE TELEPHONED TODAY. BRAD, THE AGENT, COULD NOT FIND ANY RECORD AND ALSO SAID THAT THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED AND THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE ANY REIMBURSEMENT TO US FOR THE REPAIRS WE HAD TO MAKE. THAT IS NOT IN ACCORD WITH THE RECALL AND FURTHERMORE, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINTS FAILED AGAIN ON AUGUST 18, 2014 AND THE SAFFORD CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF SPRINGFIELD VIRGINIA REPLACED THE CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINTS ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE UNDER A F23 RECALL WARRANTY AT NO CHARGE TO US. WE REQUEST THAT NHTSA CONTACT CHRYSLER AND REQUIRE THEM TO REIMBURSE US FOR THE $1146.83 WHICH WE PAID OUT OF POCKET. *TR
LEFT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED, CAUSING THAT WINDOW TO DROP INTO THE DOOR. UPON REMOVAL OF THE COMPONENT, THE FAILED PLASTIC REGULATOR PART SHOWED COMPLETE CRACK THROUGH THE MECHANISM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED BY A WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE CABLE WIRES FRACTURED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD WINDOW THAT SUFFERED FROM THIS FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 92,000.
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, I LET THE PUMP SHUT OFF BY ITSELF. WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, A FEW OUNCES OF GASOLINE SPILL ON THE GROUND. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY. *TR
HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW ON THREE DIFFERENT WINDOWS. WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD SHE WOULD HEAR A LOUD POW AND A WINDOW WOULD FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR FRAME. ALARMING HER AND SCARING HER CAUSING HER TO REACT IN A WAY THAT SHE COULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. BOTH BACK WINDOWS AND NOW HER FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW HAS BEEN EFFECTED. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AMONG JEEP OWNERS. JEEP HAS YET TO PLACE A RECALL ON THIS DEFECTIVE PART (A PLASTIC CLIP ON THE WINDOW REGULATORS). JEEP DID SEND ME TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND STATED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE OF OVER $100 PER WINDOW TO HAVE IT FIXED AND I'M TOLD THE FRONT WINDOWS COST EVEN MORE! THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART FROM THE FACTORY/DEALER CAUSING THE WINDOWS TO DROP INTO THE DOOR FRAME AT ANY TIME AS I STATED ABOVE, WHEN HERS DONE IT SHE COULD HAVE WRECKED FROM THE SOUND AND THEN THE RUSH OF AIR COMING INTO HER VEHICLE. SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND IF SHE HAD BEEN DRIVING AT INTERNET SPEEDS, PROBABLY WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL DUE TO THE INCIDENT. I URGE YOU TO HAVE JEEP FIX THIS ISSUE AND NOT A FIX TO WHERE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN, BUT A PERMANENT FIX!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REGULATOR LIFT PLATES FAILED ON BOTH REAR WINDOWS AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE REGULATOR WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
FIRST - MY VEHICLE IS UNDER RECALL AND HAS BEEN FOR 6 MONTHS AND JEEP DOES NOT HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE - UNDER REAR END CRASH A FIRE CAN HAPPEN FROM GAS TANK - JEEP SUPPOSED TO PUT A HITCH ON VEHICLE HOWEVER DOES NOT HAVE THE PARTS. THEY CANNOT GIVE ME A DATE OF WHEN THOSE PARTS MIGHT BE AVAILABLE. SECONDLY, MY GAS TANK SPILLS OVER WHENEVER IT IS FILLED AT GAS STATION.....I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A VALVE PROBLEM THAT WOULD MEAN A GAS TANK REPLACEMENT AT MY OWN COST. THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD IN 1-11-2012. *TR

A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AGAIN. DRIVING AND THE BACK WINDOW DROPPED WITHOUT NOTICE. THIS IS A COSTLY REPAIR AND ITS AN ONGOING PROBLEM . THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE REGULATOR AND MOTOR HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
MY ORIGINAL INTENT WAS TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A GAS OVERFLOW ISSUE, BUT AFTER SEEING ALL THE OTHER LIBERTY COMPLAINTS, I HAVE INCLUDED OTHER ISSUES I HAVE: 1. FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS, WHEN PUMPING GAS, THE GAS HAS CONTINUED TO FLOW EVEN AFTER THE AUTOMATIC FLOW HAS SHUT OFF. I NOW STAND AT THE PUMP AND WHEN I THINK IT IS GETTING FULL, I START PUMPING BY HAND TO AVOID THE OVERFLOW. AFTER CHECKING ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS AN ISSUE OTHER LIBERTY OWNERS EXPERIENCE. I DID RECEIVE THE INITIAL RECALL NOTICE FOR 13V-252, BUT NOTHING SINCE TO SAY THE PART IS IN. SINCE THE GAS OVERFLOW IS EXPERIENCED BY MANY OWNERS, IS THIS PART OF THE RECALL? 2. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. IT HAS BEEN RE-SET MANY TIMES; IS OK FOR A DAY OR TWO AND THEN RE-APPEARS. PER OWNER'S MANUAL, THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE UNLESS THE LIGHT IS FLASHING, WHICH IT IS NOT, BUT WHY DOES THIS CONTINUE TO OCCUR? 3. BOTH BACK ELECTRIC WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. BOTH ARE NOW SECURED IN PLACE WITH TAPE, AS IT WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. 4. THE BACK LEFT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE REAR WINDOW REGULATORS IN THE 06 JEEP LIBERTY ARE FAILING AT AN ALARMING RATE. OURS HAS HAD BOTH BREAK ONCE AND THE DRIVES SIDE TWICE NOW. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP WITH MY FRUSTRATIONS WITH ZERO HELP. THERE ARE COUNTLESS CLAIMS ONLINE, WITH FRIENDS, ACQUAINTANCES, AND EVEN MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER (EASTON, MD) THAT ALL SUPPORT THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE. I HAVE AGAIN BEEN TOLD THAT THERE WILL BE NO RECALL BECAUSE THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I DISAGREE STRONGLY!! WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS, THE WINDOW DROPS. I PURCHASED A USED JEEP IN WISCONSIN THAT DOES NOT FOLLOW NHTSA OR EPA STANDARDS. THE JEEP OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK AND SPILLS GAS ON THE GROUND AT EVERY GAS STATION. APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR LATER AND DRIVING AT VARIOUS HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW HAD FALLEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
MY LIBERTY STARTED HAVING FUEL SPILL PROBLEMS ABOUT A MONTH AGO. NOW, EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK, THE PUMP DOESN'T 'CLICK OFF' FAST ENOUGH AND THERE IS AN OVERFLOW (~1/4 GALLON) OF GASOLINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT EVERY GAS STATION I'VE TRIED LATELY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS ELECTRICAL WIRES FROM THE TAIL LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BOTH OF THE TAIL LIGHTS REMAINED BURNED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS, THE PUMP'S HANDLE WILL SUDDENLY AND FORCIBLY STOP (AS THOUGH THE TANK WERE FULL) AND GASOLINE WILL SPIT OUT OF THE FUEL OPENING, DESPITE THE FACT IT IS GALLONS AWAY FROM BEING FILLED TO FULL CAPACITY. THIS HAPPENS WITH EVERY DIFFERENT GAS STATION'S PUMP HANDLES, SO TO BE CLEAR, IT IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE PUMP OR HANDLE, OR THE INDIVIDUAL'S ABILITY TO PUMP GAS CORRECTLY; IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE GAS LINE OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE INDICATOR OR REGULATOR OR WHATEVER PART IS DEFECTIVE. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WE HAD WITH OUR 2008 WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED, FOR WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED IN 2013 FOR A DEFECTIVE GAS LINE COLLAR. ONCE THE RECALL WAS REMEDIATED THE PROBLEM STOPPED. SO I CALLED JEEP TODAY TO DISCUSS WHY A RECALL HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED FOR OUR LIBERTY SINCE IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ANSWER I RECEIVED LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN RECEIVED BY YOUR OFFICE; SO I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH YOU TODAY SO THAT YOU CAN INVESTIGATE THE NEED FOR A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE ON THE JEEP LIBERTY MODEL. THE FRONT BALL JOINT HAS COMPLETELY BROKEN, AND THE OTHER THREE ARE IN BAD SHAPE AS WELL. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR ALMOST 900,000 JEEP LIBERTY'S MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2002-2006, BUT MINE WAS NOT ON THE LIST FOR SOME REASON UNBEKNOWNST TO ME. THE CAR HAS ONLY 40,000 MILES ON IT, AND THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON MY CAR WOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN RECALL ID #57136. *TR

AFTER VIEWING SOME RECOMMENDATIONS ONLINE ABOUT JEEP LIBERTY CRD VEHICLE FIRES I DECIDED TO CHECK THE COMPONENT LISTED AS HAVING POSSIBLE ISSUES ON MY VEHICLE. THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION FOR THE FUEL HEATER LOCATED ON THE FUEL FILTER ASSEMBLY WAS IN FACT SCORCHED AND SOAKED THROUGH WITH DIESEL. A FIRE HAS NOT OCCURRED, HOWEVER I AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED THAT IT COULD AND THAT THERE IS NOT A MANDATORY RECALL ON THIS PRODUCT. I HAVE LEFT THE CONNECTION UNPLUGGED BUT WINTER IS COMING AND I LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE THAT HEATER IS NECESSARY. *TR

ALSO, I AM THE THIRD OWNER. THIS IS A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT AND IS NOT A WEAR ISSUE OR A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN PERIOD. *TR
