TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE10031 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE JANUARY OF TWENTY THIRTEEN. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE VEHICLE DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE. LI
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, ABOUT A CUP OF GAS SHOOTS OUT AS THE GAS HOSE TURNS OFF. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, THE FUEL WILL SPIT BACK OUT. THIS HAPPENS AT THE BEGINNING, MIDDLE, OR END OF WHEN I'M FUELING UP. IT'S MORE LIKE A GEYSER OF FUEL SPILLING BACK AT ME THAT GETS ALL OVER ME, THE CAR, AND MOST DANGEROUSLY, ALL OVER THE GROUND OF THE GAS STATION. IT HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY TIME I FILL UP. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GAS STATION I AM AT, OR HOW I'M POSITIONING THE HOSE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR, BUT HAS GOTTEN INCREASINGLY WORSE RECENTLY. VERY DANGEROUS, FRIGHTENING, AND BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000. .... UPDATED 02-20-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER WOULD ONLY SEE THE VEHICLE WHILE THE LIGHT WHILE WERE ON BUT, THE LIGHTS FLICKERED INTERMITTENTLY. THE GAS TANK SPEWS OUT FUEL WHEN YOU LET IT FILL. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWED SPILLING GAS ON GROUND WHEN PUMP CUT OFF. HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS SO FAULT IS IN JEEP FILL SYSTEM. *TR
I WAS LEAVING MY BANK AND ENTERED MY VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO START IT WITH MY KEY. MY KEY TURNED AND WOULD NOT START MY VEHICLE. MY BATTERY IS ABOUT A 1 MONTH OLD AND I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A LOOSE CONNECTION OR CORROSION (CONNECTION TIGHT AND NO CORROSION). I CHECKED ALL FLUIDS (FINE), I JUST HAD OIL, OIL FILTER AND BREATHER FILTER CHANGED A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THEY CHECK ALL FLUIDS. I TURNED LITES, WIPERS, TURN SIGNALS AND RADIO ON (WORKED FINE), HORN WORKED. WITH MY KEY IN THE IGNITION, I HAD NO PROBLEM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I OPENED MY DRIVER'S DOOR AND SAW IT SHOW UP AS "DOOR" ON THE DASH PANEL AND NOTICED ENGINE LITE ON. I DEPRESSED AND HELD BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO PARK WITH NO PROBLEM. I HAD A FRIEND COME AND LOOK AT MY LIBERTY, AND HE CHECKED AND DID EVERYTHING I DID. WE BOTH THOUGHT IT WAS THE IGNITION SWITCH. I INFORMED THE BANK THAT I WAS HAVING CAR PROBLEMS AND HAVE TO LEAVE IT IN THEIR PARKING LOT OVER NITE. I HAD THE JEEP LIBERTY TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP IN STUART FLORIDA THE NEXT DAY (12/12/2012). THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PIN IN THE IGNITION SWITCH BROKE OFF AND FELL INSIDE AND THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN. AND IT WOULD COST OVER $1000.00. I WAS INFORMED THE NEXT DAY (12/13/2012) THAT THEY COULD NOT LOCATE A NEW STEERING COLUMN AND THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN WITH A USED ONE. NOW IT WILL COST $800.00. I RESEARCHED AND NOTICED THAT OTHER JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. I HOPE I AM NOT BEING SCAMMED. MY JEEP LIBERTY HAS ABOUT 50000 MILES ON IT. AS I THINK ABOUT IT, WOULDN'T THE IGNITION SWITCH NEED TO BE REPLACED AND NOT THE WHOLE STEERING COLUMN? MY JEEP IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I HOPE TO GET IT BACK ON 12/17/2012. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V085000 (SUSPENSION:REAR) BUT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER DUE TO COMPLICATIONS WITH THE OVERSEAS FACTORY. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR ONE TO TWO MONTHS AND SHE WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN IT ARRIVED. THE RECALL STARTED MARCH 5, 2012 AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMEDY SHOULD HAVE BEEN READILY AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A FAILURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND AFTER INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC INFORMED HER THAT THE REAR BACKING PLATE, WHICH COVERED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FROM DEBRIS, HAD BECOME RUSTED AND CORRODED, DETACHING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
WHEN I WANT TO REFILL THE FUEL TANK THE FUEL SQUIRTS OUT THE FILL HOLE BEFORE THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. IT'S BEEN DOING THAT SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR A COUPLE YEARS AGO.I WAS TOLD THE ONLY WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. *TR

IN AUGUST OF 2011 MY REAR PASSANAGER WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AUGUST NOV 20 2012 MY WINDOW AGAIN FELL DOWN WHERE MY INFANT SITS AND ITS THE START OF WINTER. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS ON MODELS 2004-2007 HOWEVER THEY ARE NOT COVERING THIS AS A RECALL. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANAGER BILL SAID THAT HE PRETTY MUCH DIDNT CARE NEITHER DID GLORIA THE CSR REP WHOM HUNG UP ON ME WHEN SHE SAID SHE WAS GOING TO PUT ME ON HOLD AFTER 10 MIN OR BRENDA WHO SAID THAT THEY JUST DON'T DO GOOD THIS KIND OF SERVICE FOR PEOPLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER RECEIVING REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V085000 (SUSPENSION), THE VEHICLE STARTED TO EMIT A LOUD ABNORMAL NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS, SPRINGS AND REAR SHOCKS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,143 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
FUEL TANK INLET CHECK VALVE NOT STOPPING GAS FROM SURGING OUT OF THE TANK AND ALL OVER THE GROUND/PERSON/CAR. THIS OCCURS EVEN AFTER THE GAS PUMP AS 'CLICKED OFF' AND IS NOT FILLING THE TANK. CHRYSLER AS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON MODEL YEAR 2007 & 2008 JEEP LIBERY'S, BUT THIS IS A 2006 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
LEFT REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY FAILED WHEN TRYING TO RAISE THE WINDOW. I HEARD A LOUD POP, FOLLOWED THE SOUND OF THE MOTOR WORKING, BUT THE WINDOW WOULDN'T RAISE. SCARY, AS MY SMALL CHILD WAS IN THE SEAT NEXT TO THE WINDOW. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $428 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM ADDING MY COMPLAINT TO THE LONG LIST IN THE HOPES THAT CHRYSLER & JEEP WOULD FINALLY FIX THIS SYSTEMIC ISSUE. SINCE THIS IS BOTH A SAFETY AND SECURITY ISSUE, MAYBE THE NHTSA CAN HELP! *TR

A LOUD "BANG" WAS HEARD. FRONT DRIVER END TILTED AND DOWN ON TIRE. LOWER BALL JOINT FAILED AND DETACHED AND CUT TIRE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS YEAR BUT CHRYSLER SAID NOT THIS VIN # BUT IT IS THE EXACT THING THAT HAPPENED THAT IS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. *TR
THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER WINDOW WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW WITHOUT WARNING DROPPED ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THIS STARTLED MY 7 YEAR OLD SON WHO WAS SITTING THERE AND IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE MY SONS REACTION STARTLED ME. *TR
THE REAR DRIVERSIDE WINDOW FALLING PROBLEMS WITH BOTH FRONT WINDOWS MAKING A SCREECHING SOUND WHEN PUTTING THEM UP. THE REAR WINDOW WIPER STOPPED WORKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE FAILED TO OPERATE AND FUEL WOULD CONTINUOUSLY OVERFLOW FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE FUEL WOULD SPILL ONTO THE CONTACT'S CLOTHING AND THEN ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT AND INFORMED THE OWNER THAT THEY WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR $400.00 OF THE REPAIR EXPENSE AND THE REMAINING COSTS WOULD BE THE MANUFACTURER'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. TECH VERIFIED CONCERN. FOUND SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY SEIZED AND INTERLOCK STRETCHED. TECH ACCESSED AND REPLACED SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PARK SAFETY CABLE WOULD NOT ALLOW THE KEY TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE HER FINGER UNDER THE CONSOLE TO PUSH THE SWITCH THAT ALLOWED THE KEY TO BE RELEASED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE GEAR EASILY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000. UPDATED 10/26/16*LJ *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY HAD BECOME LODGED IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE HAD TO BE PRESSED IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT THERE WAS NO SPECIFIC INDICATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000
WHILE DRIVING THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY ACROSS THE COUNTRY FROM PA TO TX THE 2ND BACK WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR WITH OUR DOG IN THE BACK, THIS COULD OF CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAPPENED TO BOTH MY BACK WINDOWS, BOTH THESE ARE CHILD SAFETY WINDOWS, AND IF SOMEONE HAD A CHILD IN A CAR SEAT IN THESE JEEPS COULD HAVE HAD A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WINTER MONTHS, STORMS ETC. PLEASE RECALL THESE HAZARDOUS WINDOW REGULATORS ON THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, THE CHRYSLER COMPANY WILL PAY 1/2 FOR THE REPAIR,. I AM ASKING FOR AN IMMEDIATE RECALL AND REPLACEMENT FOR THE WINDOW REGULATORS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT. *TR
THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERYTIME IT IS FILLED. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY GAS STATION AND EVERY TIME IT IS LEFT ON AUTOFILL. THE JEEP ALSO EMITS A STRONG ODOR OF GAS REGULARLY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING A PASSENGER ON THE REAR LEFT SIDE OF MY CAR ATTEMPTED TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW. WE THEN HEARD A POP AND THE WINDOW WAS HALF WAY DOWN AND BEGAN TO FALL. WE WERE ABLE TO KEEP THE WINDOW FROM FALLING INTO THE DOOR. THE MOTOR CONTINUED TO SOUND AS IF IT WAS WORKING BUT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE WINDOW TO GO UP OR DOWN. APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS LATER THE REAR RIGHT SIDE WINDOW WAS BEING ROLLED DOWN AND WE AGAIN HEARD A POPPING SOUND AND THE WINDOW AGAIN WOULD NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN. AFTER RESEARCH IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND DUE TO HAVING TWO OUT OF FOUR WINDOWS ON MY CAR ALONE EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE TO ME THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED AS A RECALL AND IS COSTING OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES OVER $400 PER WINDOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE RISK OF SOMEONE BREAKING IN TO A VEHICLE AND ALSO THE RISK OF THE WINDOW FALLING AND BREAKING PUTTING ANYONE IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE AT RISK OF INJURY, INCLUDING MY DAUGHTER. *TR
LEFT REAR POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED CAUSING WINDOW TO FALL. INABILITY TO CLOSED WINDOW CREATES CABIN PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS AT ALL SPEEDS. THE PRESSURE OSCILLATIONS CREATE A DISTRACTION TO THE DRIVER AND IMPAIR THE DRIVER'S HEARING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE LIFT PLATE IN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURER RECALL BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THIS IS THE 2ND TIME I HAVE ACCESSED YOUR WEBSITE WITH A COMPLAINT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.. I REPORTED MY OTHER COMPLAINT ON 09/20/2010. MY REAR WINDOWS JUST FALL DOWN FOR NO REASON. ON 8/15/12 I WALKED OUT AND NOTICED MY REAR DRIVER SIDE CAR WINDOW WAS DOWN. WHEN I TRIED TO PUT IT UP, IT JUST MADE A GRINDING NOISE. IT JUST SLIPS DOWN INTO THE WINDOW SPACE LEAVING ME WITH AN OPEN WINDOW WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN THE RAIN. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TWO YEARS AGO TO BOTH REAR WINDOWS TO THE SAME VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S WHERE THIS HAPPENS. IT APPEARS THE WINDOWS AND PART THAT RAISES AND LOWERS THE WINDOW IS ONE UNIT WHICH IS MADE OF PLASTIC. APPARENTLY IT IS VERY CHEAP AND FRAGILE AND BREAKS FOR NO REASON. YOU HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE WINDOW/MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. PLEASE HELP ME GET MY WINDOW FIXED. *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT MY VEHICLES REAR SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARMS COULD BREAK WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSE A CRASH. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIPS ARE OUT OF THE PART TO REPLACE THIS PART AND THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO TIME FRAME OF WHEN THEY WILL GET THE PRODUCT IN. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.

I GOT A NOTICE FOR A RECALL FOR THE REAR SUSPENSION TWO WEEKS A GO, LAST WEEK I MADE AN APPT WITH MY DEALERSHIP FOR MONDAY THE 16TH, BUT SUNDAY I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHICH IS A MILE AWAYS GOING TEN MPH, I WAS GETTING READY TO PARK, BUT THEN MY FRONT END STARTED TO RATTLE, THEN MY STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKEN, THEN I HEARD A SNAP LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE, AND STRUCK A LIGHT POLE IN THE PARKING LOT OF MY WORK, I GOT OUT AND ME, THE COP, MY HUSBAND, MY BOSS, MY DAD, THE TOW TRUCK COMPANY WAS LOOKING UNDERNEATH MY VEHICLE AND THE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM WAS SNAPPED IN HALF, A CLEAN STRAIGHT SNAP, AND MY LOWER BALL JOINT WAS BUSTED, IT ALSO CAUSED DAMAGED TO MY FRONT END, KNOCKED MY FRONT ALIGNMENT OUT, IT BENT MY RIM UP SMASHED MY LEFT LIGHTS, BUSTED MY STRUTS, AND THE KNUCKLE,MY AIR BAGGED DIDN'T DEPLOY TO LOW MILE CRASH, MY CHEST WHERE THE SEAT BELT WAS IS BRUISED, AND I HAVE A GAUGE MISSING ON TOP OF MY HAND WHERE MY HAND GOT WRAPPED A ROUND THE STEERING WHEEL, THERE WAS A RECALL BACK IN 2006 FOR THIS ISSUE OF THE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM AND LOWER BALL JOINT WHICH CAUSED MY CRASHED AND THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT TAKEN CARE OF BACK IN MARCH OF 2007, THEY THINK THAT IT WAS ANOTHER DEFECTED SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT PUT ON, I ALSO WAS TELLING THE POLICE AND OTHERS I WAS PLANNING ON GOING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I GOT OF WORK, IF I DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPEN I WOULD OF BEEN DEAD, OR WHAT HAPPENS IF MY KIDS WERE IN THE VEHICLE OR SOMEONE WAS CROSSING THE STREET, I TAKE THESE THINGS VERY SERIOUS, AND I'M NOT HAPPY I GOT HURT BECAUSE OF SOMEONE PUTTING ANOTHER DEFECT PART ON, AND I TOLD CHRYSLER, THE DEALERSHIP, AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY I'M NOT PAYING FOR ANY OF THE DAMAGED AND FOR SOMEONE'S NEGLECT,SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO GET ALL THESE RECALLS AND PARTS CHECK, IT SEEMS TO BE ALOT OF ISSUES WITH JEEP LIBERTY, I LOVE MY JEEP BUT NOT THE PROBLEMS IT'S HAVING. *TR
I WAS INVOLVED IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT ON JULY 8, 2012. I WAS HEADING SOUTH THROUGH A GREEN LIGHT WHILE A RED VAN GOING WEST RAN THROUGH A RED LIGHT HITTING ME ON MY DRIVERS SIDE MAKING ME T-BONE AND ROLL THREE TIMES. I WAS AT THE CAR WASH AND I WAS RUNNING MY A/C AND EVERYTHING WAS WORKING GREAT. ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WAS HOT AIR COMING OUT OF THE BLOWER WHICH HAS ONLY BEEN WORKING IN SPEEDS 3 AND 4. IT IS EXTREMELY HOT RIGHT NOW IN AMERICA. TODAY IN FORT WAYNE IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE 105 AND TOMORROW 106. I HAVE TAKEN EXCELLENT CAR OF THIS JEEP AND SERVICED IT REGULARLY. THIS HAS COME TO GREAT SHOCK TO ME AND MY WIFE AS WE HAVE JUST MOVED TO THE FORT WAYNE AREA INDIANA. WE ARE DOWN TWO VEHICLES WITH THIS HEAT. HER CAR BLEW A TIMING CHAIN AND IT WAS ALSO A CHRYSLER PRODUCT. WE COULDN'T AFFORD TO FIX THE ENGINE FOR THAT AND THE COST FOR THE A/C IS 866.00 FOR THE JEEP. I HAVE READ A LOT OF BLOGS ON OTHERS LOSING THEIR A/C IN THIS YEAR OF JEEP. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE A STROKE OR WORSE AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX A SIX YEAR OLD JEEP. *TR

THE CONSUMER STATED THE RE-SALE IN TUCSON AZ WAS FALSE AS THE DEALER THE CONSUMER PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN IL. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NO RECORD OF THE VEHICLE BEING SOLD IN IL. *JB
BOTH OF MY REAR WINDOW REGULATORS BROKE WHILE I WAS ROLLING DOWN THE WINDOWS AFTER BEING IN THE SUN ALL DAY. THIS IS THE 3RD JEEP LIBERTY THAT I HAVE HAD THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM. JEEP WANTS ME TO PAY $300 TO GET THESE REPLACED. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND JEEP REFUSES TO TAKE CARE OF IT. LOCKING MY VEHICLE IS POINTLESS SINCE THE WINDOWS FALL DOWN. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING 5 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER'S FRONT WHEEL DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 76,803 UPDATED 08-07-12 *BF CHRYLSER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED IN 2007. HOWEVER, TWO MECHANICS VERIFIED THE BALL JOINTS AND STATED THEY WERE THE ORIGINAL BALL JOINTS. THE LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED ND THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ORIGINAL BALL JOINTS WERE NOT LUBRICATED AND WHEN THE BOOTS BECAME TORN/CRACKED IT ALLOWED DIRT AND WATER TO GET INTO THE JOINT, WHICH CAUSED EXCESSIVE WEAR. UPDATED 08/09/12
THE FUEL TANK BEGAN TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH OVERFLOWING WHEN REFUELING. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FILL THE TANK WITHOUT GAS POURING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. *TR
I HAVE REVIEWED THAT THERE ARE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS REGARDING FAULTY WINDOW REGULATORS ON THESE PARTICULAR CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THESE PLATES IN THE WINDOW REGULATORS GIVE OUT CAUSING THE AUTO GLASS TO SLIDE DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE BOTH REAR REGULATORS REPLACED TWICE AND RECENTLY MY FRONT PASSENGER REGULATOR GAVE OUT. I HAVE HAD 3 REGULATORS REPLACED PRIOR TO MY VEHICLE REACHING 30,000 MILES. MY RECENT ISSUE: MY FRONT WINDOW BEGAN TO LOWER ON ITS ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RAISE THE WINDOW WITH THE SWITCH IT THEN IMMEDIATELY FELL DOWN INSIDE THE DOOR CAUSING RAIN/HAIL TO ENTER MY VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE OFFERED NO SOLUTION STATING THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PART EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FAULTY REGULATORS. *TR

THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FUEL SPILLED ONTO THEIR CLOTHING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE HAD FILLED THE TANK UP ON OUR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY SINCE WE PURCHASED IT ON MAY 29,2012. WHILE STANDING AT THE PUMP WAITING FOR THE TANK TO FILL UP, THE TANK STARTED OVERFLOWING WITH GAS. I HAD GAS ALL OVER ME, THE CAR, AND THE GROUND. I WROTE IT OFF AS BEING A PROBLEM WITH THE PUMP. TWO WEEKS LATER I GO TO A DIFFERENT PUMP TO FILL IT UP, AND IT HAPPENS AGAIN. SO I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE FROM AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND WE TOOK IT IN FOR THEM TO LOOK AT. THEY REPLACED A CANISTER AND LEAK PROTECTION GUARD, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I STARTED LOOKING ON JEEP FORUMS AND HAVE FOUND QUITE A FEW INSTANCES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON THE JEEP LIBERTY AND THESE PEOPLE HAVE ALSO FILED CLAIMS TO THE NHSTA. THE ONLY WAY FOR THE PROBLEM TO BE FIXED IS FOR THE TANK TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THERE IS A CHECK VALVE IN THE TANK THAT IS CAUSING THIS. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR AS I HAVE CALLED A COUPLE OF DEALERSHIPS AROUND IN THE ARE WITH THE TANK ALONE COSTING OVER $1,400 DOLLARS. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE NOISE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE UPPER PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED HER OF A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION: FRONT: CONTROL ARM: LOWER BALL JOINT) BUT HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THEY ONLY ISSUED THE RECALLS TO SALT STATES AND OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
