TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE UNDERCARRIAGE HAD RUSTED EXTENSIVELY. THE ABS SENSOR LIGHTS REMAINED ON BECAUSE THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS SAGGING TOWARD THE TIRES SETTING OFF THE SENSORS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT WHEN HE TOUCHED THE UNDERCARRIAGE RUST FELL OFF IN HIS HANDS. THE MECHANIC REFUSED THE FIX THE VEHICLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SIMILAR VEHICLE WERE SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS PROVIDED THE VIN HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT THE NHTSA HOTLINE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000. *BF CONSUMER STATED THE "ARM" WAS RECALLED AND REPLACED BUT HAS RUSTED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOWS WOULD NOT REMAIN SHUT. THE CONTACT HAD TO TAPE BOTH WINDOWS TO SECURE THEM SHUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH WINDOW MECHANISMS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. *BF*JB
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT REPEATEDLY TURNS ON AND OFF DURING VEHICLE OPERATION. WHEN THE SPEED CONTROL WAS ACTIVATED, WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE CONTINUALLY ACCELERATED ALMOST CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. NEUWIRTH CHRYSLER WILMINGTON (219 S COLLEGE RD, WILMINGTON, NC 28403, (910) 799-1815) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE FUEL TANK HAS A CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING A FUEL LEAK DURINGCERTAIN TYPES OF REAR END COLLISIONS. THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
FUEL OVERFLOW AT GAS PUMP. INLET CHECK VALVE. FUEL SPILLS ALL OUT OF FILLER OPENING.
THE CLUTCH IGNITION, POWER SWITCH OF MY TRUCK KEEPS STALLS. THE VEHICLE DON'T START, WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN. ALSO THE ENGINE CRANK AND START WITHOUT THE CLUTCH PEDAL BEING PUSHED DOWN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO UNEXPECTEDLY LURCH. I WAS NOTIFIED BY A DEALER AFTER INSPECTION THAT SAID PROBLEM IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM, THAT WAS ON RECALL. HOWEVER SAID MY VEHICLE VIN# COULD NOT BE LOCATED WITH THE RECALL. I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER ON 1-800-992-1997, AND WAS TOLD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I WILL HIGHLY APPRECIATE YOUR IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION.
NOTICED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE FELT LOOSE. THERE HAD BEEN A LOUD METAL SCRAPING NOISE WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH ABOUT A MONTH EARLIER, HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BUT NOTHING WAS FOUND. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR NEW FRONT TIRES AND AN ALIGNMENT AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT HAS A LOT OF PLAY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS BUT WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THERE ISN'T A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. THE RECALL L27 INCLUDES MY STATE THAT THE VEHICLE IS REGISTERED IN BUT IT WAS BOUGHT IN VIRGINIA, WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAS 120,000 MILES ON IT.
DUE TO A MANUFACTURING ERROR OF A TIRE, I HAD A BLOWOUT ON THE INTERSTATE THAT ENDED UP TOTALING MY CAR. THE TREAD COMPLETELY SPLIT FROM THE TIRE WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT ANY COLLISIONS OR DAMAGE TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. THE BLOWOUT RIPPED OFF PIECES OF THE FRONT BUMPER, SOME SIDING OF THE CAR, AND CAUSED HUGE COSMETIC DAMAGE IN ADDITION TO WRECKING THE FRAME AND CAUSING SOME INTERNAL DAMAGE, INCLUDING A LEAK OF WIPER FLUID. MY CAR WAS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY (WITH 60,000 MILES) AND THE TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR WRANGLER ST TIRE WITH DOT # M671 EKER. (THERE WAS NO SET OF NUMBERS FOLLOWING THE EKER AS ON MOST TIRES, JUST A BLANK SPACE.)

WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A LOUD AND SUDDEN BANGING NOISE OCCURRED DUE TO THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY COMING OFF TRACK AND FALLING INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ON BOTH PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WESTBURY JEEP/CHRYSLER LOCATED IN WESTBURY, NY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT DELAMINATED FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE WALL. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LAKESHORE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT (LOCATED AT 330 E HOWZE BEACH RD, SLIDELL, LA 70461 (985) 641-9595). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I FOUND ONLINE THAT THERE'S A RECALL ON LOWER BALL JOINTS THAT GET CORRODED AND STOP WORKING PROPERLY, THAT CAN CAUSE A BREAK OF THE ITEM AND LOOSE THE STEERING WHILE DRIVING. WELL IT'S ALREADY CORRODED AND NO WHEEL ALIGNMENT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT REPLACING BOTH JOINTS.ALREADY CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY DENIED ANY RECALL ON BALL JOINTS. I DECIDED TO STOP DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE IT'S GETTING HARD TO DRIVE. WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL YOU CAN FEEL THE JOINT MAKING A METAL TO METAL SOUND, WHILE STOPPING AND WHEN STARTING TO MOVE
ON CROWDED CITY STREET APPLIED BRAKES AS SOMEONE WAS STARTING TO CROSS STREET IN A CROSSWALK. ENGINE STARTED TO REV UP AND CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I WENT THROUGH THE CROSSWALK AND MANAGED TO STOP SAFELY. TRIED A FEW SLOW SPEED STOPS, AND CAR SEEMED OKAY. THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER AT ANOTHER CROSSWALK APPLIED BRAKES. ENGINE REVVED UP. HAD BOTH FEET ON BRAKES. REAR BRAKES SEEMED TO FAIL. REAR TIRES STARTED TO BURN RUBBER WITH LOUD SQUEALING NOISE. I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK. ENGINE SLOWED DOWN AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF AFTERWARDS. MADE IT HOME (9 MILES). DID A FEW SLOW STOPS ON THE WAY. BRAKES WORKED OKAY AND ENGINE DID NOT REV. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT ANY FURTHER DRIVING OF THIS VEHICLE. PEDESTRIAN LIVES DEFINITELY WERE IN DANGER.
WHEN FUELING, THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED AS AN O-RING PROBLEM AND RECALLED IN LATER MODELS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FINDLAY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM POST FALLS (550 N ALBERTA ST, POST FALLS, ID 83854, (208) 457-1900) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK AND FUEL FILLER NECK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. I ALMOST WRECKED MY CAR WHEN THE RIGHT CONTROL BAR BROKE FROM CORROSION. MY LOCAL DEALERS REFUSED TO FIX MY VEHICLE IAW THE RECALL BECAUSE IT IS REGISTERED IN VIRGINIA. I LIVE IN VIRGINIA BUT WORK IN DC. I GOT IT TO THE SHOP AND REPLACED THE SUSPENSION MYSELF, TAKING 3 DAYS AND SPENDING MORE THAN $400. BOTH REAR WINDOW MOTORS HAVE FAILED. THE WINDOWS SLIDE DOWN INTO THE DOORS STATIONARY, AND OR DRIVING.
THE DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT HAS BROKEN 7 TIMES IN 1 YEAR AND HAS BEEN REPLACED. USING 4 DIFFERENT MECHANICS ASSUMING IT WAS THE MECHANIC. THIS HAS HAPPENED EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING. THE LAST MECHANIC PUT AN ADDITIONAL NUT AND HAS ASSUMED TO WORK. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT HE HAS REPAIRED OTHER JEEP LIBERTY'S WITH SAME PROBLEM IN ONE CASE HE WELDED IT ON, I HAVE SEEN 3 OTHERS IN MY SMALL TOWN THAT YOU CAN SEE THEY ALSO HAVE A DRIVER FENDER THAT IS DAMAGED AS MINE IS WHEN THE BALL JOINT BREAKS AND TIRES PUSHES WHEEL FENDER OFF. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM AND CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED IN A RECALL, IT ASKS FOR A DATE, WELL THE FIRST TIME WAS SPRING OF 2017 SINCE THEN IT HAS HAPPENED 6 ADDITONAL TIMES
WE ALL OWN CARS. MY CAR HAS THIS PROBLEM WHERE THE POWER WINDOWS SUDDENLY STOP WORKING. IN OTHER WORDS, I CAN LOWER MY WINDOW AND HAVE IT SUDDENLY DECIDE TO NOT COME BACK UP, LEAVING ME WITH A VEHICLE SUBJECT TO ALL KINDS OF THEFT. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED THIRTEEN TIMES NOW ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND CHRYSLER EXPECTS ME TO PAY $475 FOR EACH REPAIR. I WANT CHRYLSER TO PROVIDE THIS SERVICE FOR ME FREE OF CHARGE, ONLY BECAUSE THEY DID THE FIRST TWELVE TIMES. WITHOUT THIS SUPPORT, I AM IN A POSITION WHERE I CANNOT KEEP MY CAR AND CANNOT AFFORD A NEW ONE. DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO LOWER YOUR CAR WINDOW AND HAVE IT SUDDENLY NOT COME BACK UP? ESPECIALLY IN THE COLD OF WINTER? THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER GAVE ME EVERY EXCUSE THEY COULD FIND TO NOT HELP ME OUT. AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME I WAS BEING PRETENTIOUS. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THIS WAS HOW A CAR MANUFACTURER TREATED YOU? I COME FROM A FAMILY OF JEEP OWNERS AND CHRYSLER (THE MOTHER COMPANY) WOULD RATHER LOSE MY BUSINESS AND PERMIT ME TO TALK NEGATIVELY ABOUT THEM THEN STOP TO HELP ME. THEY EVEN ENCOURAGED ME TO HIT THE NET AND START SUBMITTING REVIEWS. THIS IS SORT OF CALLOUS NEGLIGENCE IS NOT WHAT ANY KIND OF CONSUMER SHOULD ENDURE. AT THIS POINT, WHAT REASON DO I HAVE TO PERFORM THE SERVICE? WHAT REASON DO I HAVE TO KEEP MY CAR? WHAT REASON DO I HAVE TO EVER SHOP WITH THEIR BRAND AGAIN?

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE ESP, ABS, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ALL SARTED FLASHING AT ONCE. SINCE THEN, MY VEHICLE WOULD CONSTANTLY LOSE POWER AND STALL OUT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. DIAGNOSTIC CHECK INDICATED A DEFECTIVE SPEED SENSOR. IT WAS REPLACED, AND THE ISSUE CORRECTED ITSELF SOMEWHAT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. HOWEVER...THE SAME EXACT ISSUE RETURNED. IT PROGRESSIVELY BECAME SO BAD I HAD TO REMOVE THE ABS FUSES IN ORDER TO EVEN DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THUS CREATING AN EQUALLY DANGROUS SITUATION. MY JEEP IS OUT OF WARRANTY, OF COURSE, AND I'VE READ TONS OF COMPLAINTS OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, SO I AM BASICALLY (DANGEROUSLY) WAITING FOR A RECALL TO OCCUR.
GASOLINE WILL ALWAYS BLOW OUT OF THE FILLER WHEN FUELING. AT LEAST 1/4 CUP AND SOMETIMES A FULL CUP OF GASOLINE WILL BE EXPELLED AT EACH REFUELING. GASOLINE WILL BE SPRAYED ON HANDS, PANTS, SHOES, SIDE OF CAR AND ON THE GROUND. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED OVER THE PAST YEAR.
MY JEEP WAS PART OF A RECALL IN 2012. THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW WOULDN'T GO UP OR DOWN. L-27 REAR CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED. 02-L2-71-82 REAR CONTROL ARMS AND CBFZL270AA ARM LOWER CONTROL. THE SAME THING HAPPED RECENTLY, BUT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR. CAN YOU HELP ME GET THE WINDOW FIXED AS PART OF THE RECALL IN 2012?
MY ANTI SKID, ABS, AND ESP LIGHTS ARE ON. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT WORKING. ALSO, AT ABOUT 50 MPH, MY FRONT END ACTS UP. I AM TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE CLOCK SPRING.

WHEN FILLING CAR WITH GAS ON LEVELED SURFACES. THE CAR WILL BURP FUEL OUT THE FILLING NECK SPILLING OUT ON THE ROAD AND GRASS. SPOKE TO A LOCAL DODGE AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO FIX FOR IT BUT IT IS AN ISSUE.
CAR CAN NOT BE PLACED IN PARK AND HAVE IT STAY THERE, KEY WILL NOT COME OUT
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION 30 MPH. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND ENTIRE VEHICLE SHOOK. LOST COMPLETE STEERING CONTROL AND CROSSED 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC BEFORE BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. VEHICLE WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND CROSSED OVER 3 LANES BEFORE STOPPING. LOCATION WAS ON A CITY STREET.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
RH LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE TODAY. CAR IS IMMOBILE. THIS BALL JOINT WAS REPLACED ONE YEAR AGO, WHEN IT FIRST FAILED. THE LH ONE ALSO BROKE 6 MONTHS AGO. ALL 3 FAILURES WHERE IN PARKING LOTS. MY LIBERTY'S VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL RANGE. JEEP REFUSES TO TALK TO ME. THEIR EXPLANATION ABOUT WATER ANT CORROSION IS NOT TECHNICALLY VALID. I AM AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER AND DEAL WITH THIS SORT OF THING ALL THE TIME. THE CAUSE IS CYCLIC LOADING OF THE TAPERED PIN, HIGH TENSION LOAD AND A STRESS RISER AT THE THREAD. REPLACING THE BALL JOINT ONLY PROVIDES MORE FAILURE OPPORTUNITIES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE NUMBER OF DEATHS AND INJURIES THIS HAS CAUSED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME CHRISTMAS MORNING AND A FEW MILES BEFORE I GOT HOME THE LOWER AND HIGHER BALL JOINTS SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER. WHEN FILLING THE TANK WITH FUEL, THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF, AND THE FUEL FILLER TUBE BELCHES FUEL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND THE GROUND. THIS CAUSES A FIRE SAFETY ISSUE, THE FUEL DAMAGES PAINT AND PLASTICS ON THE VEHICLE, IT IS WASTEFUL, AND IS HAZARDOUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. A CO WORKER TOLD ME MY TAIL LIGHT WAS OUT AND THE NEXT DAY I LOOKED AT IT AND TRIED TO REPLACE THE BULB BUT THE BULB WAS MELTED AND BROKEN INSIDE THE LENS. THE BULB WAS MELTED TO A PIECE OF PLASTIC INSIDE...TO SOME TYPE OF FIN. THIS IS THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT. I ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY EARLIER THIS YEAR. I REPLACED THE BULB 3 TIMES BEFORE I FIGURED OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. NOW THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURED WITH THE DRIVER SIDE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY. THE BULB MELTED TO THAT FIN INSIDE THE ASSEMBLY AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THE BULB. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY AGAIN, WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE AT $130 EACH PLUS THE BULBS. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE...OR A WRECK SINCE MY BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT WORK UNTIL THIS TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY WAS SPECIAL ORDERED AND RELACED, WHICH TOOK A COUPLE OF DAYS TO RECEIVE. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT.
SHIFTER MOVES FREELY BETWEEN PARK-REVERSE-NEUTRAL-DRIVE-2ND-1ST GEARS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON AND OFF; AND WITH OR WITHOUT A KEY IN THE IGNITION. IF THE SHIFTER IS BUMPED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE CAN BE THROWN INTO REVERSE AND/OR PARK. WHEN I CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALER IN SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI, I WAS TOLD THAT JEEP HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE SHIFTER CONTROL AND THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. COST FOR THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLE IS APPROXIMATELY $480 PLUS LABOR. IF THE PROBLEM IS SO APPARENT THAT IT CAN BE FOUND THOUSANDS OF TIMES USING GOOGLE, AND IF THE MANUFACTURER HAS SINCE REDESIGNED THE ENTIRE SHIFTER CONTROL SYSTEM; THEN ONE WOULD THINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL.
