THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE ROD LINKING BETWEEN THE KEY SIDE OF THE IGNITION AND THE SWITCH IS BROKEN. I HAVE SEEN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THE SAME YEAR MODEL TO KNOW THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE THAT SHOULD BE A RECALL. ALSO, THE ROD IS NOT AVAILABLE, ONLY THE ENTIRE COLUMN AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LITHIA JEEP DODGE (2121 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BLVD, EUGENE, OR 97401), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NHTSA 18V-278 REPLACES ONLY TRAILING ARMS. WHAT ABOUT WORN BOLTS? DEALER REINSTALLS USED HARDWARE TO SAVE MONEY ($20-25 FOR NEW BOLTS AT LOCAL HARDWARE STORE, 1-2 HRS TO INSTALL IN DRIVEWAY BY OWNER. 6 HOURS ESTIMATED BY DEALER AT $127.00 AN HOUR NOT INCLUDING HARDWARE. ACCORDING TO DEALER, NEW HARDWARE IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THIS RECALL. THIS DEALER WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RECALL APPOINTMENTS AT THIS TIME.
1. RUST CORROSION AROUND THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT CAUSE BRAKE LIGHT TO FALL OUT. IT HAS TO BE HELD UP BY DUCT TAPE AND IS HILDING UP MY INSPECTION. 2. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS READING IMPLAUSIBLE FUEL VOLUME LEVEL. FUEL GAUGE DROPS AFTER 10 MINUTES.

1) FRONT DRIVER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. 2) FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ARMREST DETACHED WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR.
THIS IS REGARDING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. DRIVING THE JEEP ON A HIGHWAY GOING APPROX. 65-70MP, SOMETHING BROKE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT END HAD BROKEN DOWN ALMOST TO THE GROUND, BUT WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT CRASHING. HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ESTIMATE REPORTED THERE IS MAJOR CORROSION IN THE BALL JOINT, THE CONTROL ARM-R&R 4WD UPPER, BOTH SIDES NEED REPLACEMENT, AXLE SHAFT CV ASSEMBLY R&R TRANSMISSION TYPE 4-WHEEL ABS BOTH SIDES. BALL JOINT-R&R 4WD LOWER, BOTH SIDES, CONTROL ARM WITH BALL JOINT-FRONT UPPER, BALL JOINT FRONT LOWER, CONSTANT VELOCITY (CV) DRIVESHAFT-FRONT LEFT NEED NEW. WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS FOR REAR CONTROL ARM FRACTURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V278000) CAUSING CORROSION IN BALL JOINT. NOT THE FRONT CONTROL ARM. EVEN THOUGH THE FRONT CONTROL ARM SEEMS TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. PHOTO SUPPLIED OF CORROSION IN FRONT. HAD TWO MECHANICS ESTIMATE COST TO FIX, BUT WHEN THE RECALL WAS NOTICED ONLINE, HAD IT TOWED TO GREENWAY CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN ORLANDO. THEY PERFORMED DIAGNOSTICS AND SENT THE INFORMATION TO CHRYSLER CORP. TO SEE ABOUT GETTING THIS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, BUT TOLD CHRYSLER REFUSED TO COVER THE REPAIRS.
WHILE APPLYING BRAKE & SHIFTING TO REVERSE, CAR ACCELERATED IN REVERSE AT HIGH SPEED WITH NO THROTTLE ENGAGED. BRAKE WAS PRESSED THE WHOLE TIME AND PUMPED TO STOP VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO BRAKING. A POLE WAS IMPACTED CRUSHING VEHICLE. NO WARNINGS OF THIS ISSUE. THIS HAS LEFT THE FAMILY IN FEAR OF EVER DRIVING A JEEP. THIS WAS A JEEP LIBERTY 2006 WITH LESS THAN 70K MILES. WELL KEPT MAINTAINED VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED THE TOW COMPANY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
LEFT REAR TAILLIGHT HAS GONE OUT - REPLACING THE BULB DOESN'T WORK. LOOKS LIKE THE HOUSING/SOCKET IS PARTIALLY MELTED. ALSO, LEFT FRONT PARKING LIGHT HAS GONE OUT AND CHANGING THE BULB HAS NOT RESOLVED THAT EITHER.
My back rear control arms/suspension/alignment were recalled, I had them replaced. Now My front control arms/suspension/alignment are very unsafe to drive. Wobbly, unstable, loose, noises, screeching. It Feels like it’s going to break/snap/fall off. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection. I feel unsafe on turns especially. It could snap at any moment and my Jeep could roll injuring me or others. I had a tire/allignment center check the status. No warning lights or messages. The sound and issue has been going on since I got my jeep recall fixed. The dealership hit the front of my Jeep in the parking lot and still has not taken responsibility for their actions and damages done to my Jeep. It was evaluated from Jeep’s body/auto shop estimating at outer damage 1,500$ + and they have not inspected the damage caused to the control arm/suspension/alignment from the employee hitting me Jeep into something moments before returning my Jeep from a recall-fix. Jeeo still has yet to take responsibility for the damages caused. I have not felt safe since then. The steering has been wobbly, the turns make noise and shudder like the wheel is going to break off/fall off or worse snap. I have tried numerous attempts to get these issues resolved with Jeep Liberty of San Diego Camino del rio s. With no responsibility taken from them for the damages they have caused making me Jeep unsafe to drive.
BACKED OUT OF BANK PARKING SPACE, PUT JEEP IN DRIVE MOVED FORWARD AND TURNED WHEEL TO RIGHT AND BALL JOINT SHEARED OFF FALLING TO PAVEMENT

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT BALL JOINTS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 131,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
RECEIVED A RECALL FOR A SAFETY ISSUE. TOOK JEEP TO DEALERSHIP IN MNT HOME, THEY CONFIRMED MY JEEP WAS PART OF THE RECALL AND NEEDED TO ORDER THE PARTS. I INFORMED THEM THAT I TRAVELED 45 MIN ON THE FREEWAY 80MPH FOR WORK SO IT WAS URGENT TO FIX. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK WITH AN APPOINTMENT EARLY THE FOLLOWING WEEK(THIS WAS ON 7/11). THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. I HAVE CALLED THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. ONE GUY TOLD ME I WASNT EVEN IN THEIR SYSTEM AND SAID HE WOULD CALL OTHER DEALERS TO TRY AND GET THE PART. EVERYTIME I CALL NOBODY IS AVAILABLE TO TAKE MY CALLS. ITS A SAFEY DRIVING ISSUE AND NOBODY HAS THE PART??? MY VEHICLE IS GETTING WORSE AND IS NOW AT A POINT WHERE YOU CAN HEAR IT CRACKING OR SNAPPING AND SCARY TO DRIVE AS IT IS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND SWERVY.
THERE IS ONLY ONE WINDOW THAT WILL COME DOWN AND IT'S THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, THEY ALL CAME DOWN AND WOULD NOT COME BACK UP. I REPLACED A REGULATOR IN THE RIGHT BACK WINDOW AND IT WENT AGAIN SO I JUST HAD THEM ALL PINNED UP. I'VE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE AC COMPRESSOR TWICE AND JUST PUT IN 07/06/2018. I HAD TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION PUT IN 3 YEARS AGO. AND NOW THE TRUCK IS JUST SHUTTING DOWN WHEN I COME TO A STOP BUT IT WILL START BACK UP. I HAD A DIAGNOSIS TEST DONE AND IT DIDN'T SHOW ANY PROBLEMS, BUT IT'S STILL SHUTTING DOWN AND I DON'T KNOW WHY. THE MECHANIC SAID IT IS PROBABLY SOMETHING ELECTRICAL OR HAS TO DO WITH THE COMPUTER.

THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED SEVERE FRONT END DAMAGE; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
3 OUT OF THE 4 WINDOW REGULATORS IN MY JEEP HAVE MECHANICALLY BROKEN INSIDE THE DOOR. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. IT'S NOT A CHEAP FIX FOR ME TO KEEP PAYING FOR YOUR MISTAKE. I WAS GOING TO BUY ANOTHER JEEP, BUT NOT SO SURE ANYMORE

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BALL JOINT FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT. UPDATING INFORMATION. COMPLAINT #11105312. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 9 DAYS AFTER THE CUTOFF FOR THE 2006 RECALL # 06V288000. MY VEHICLE HAD THE FAILURE OF THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT. IT WAS NOT ART OF THE 2006 RECALL HOWEVER, IT IS PART OF THE CURRENT RECALL FOR THE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINTS. THE ORIGINAL CUTOFF BUILD DATE WAS MARCH 15, 2006. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JUST 9 DAYS LATER ON MARCH 24, 2006. IT SEEMS FAR TOO MUCH A COINCIDENCE THAT MY VEHICLE HAS THE SAME REAR BALL JOINTS THAT ARE SUBJECT TO RECALL AND REPLACEMENT, WHICH CHRYSLER HAS DONE, BUT THE FRONT BALL JOINTS WERE NOT COVERED IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL. I WAS GOING 35MPH WHEN THE PART FAILED. THE FAILURE CAME WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND WAS INSTANTANEOUS. THE BALL JOINT BROKE AND INSTANTLY PIERCED THE ALLOY RIM AND DEFLATED THE TIRE. HAD I BEEN GOING 70MPH, I WOULD HAVE FLIPPED AND ROLLED INSTANTLY. FURTHERING THE ISSUE IS AS BEST I CAN DETERMINE, THE FRONT AND REAR BALL JOINTS ARE THE SAME PART. I AM REPORTING THAT SINCE MY INITIAL COMPLAINT, I FOUND OUT MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT A MERE 9 DAYS AFTER THE ORIGINAL RECALL CUTOFF DATE.
GASOLINE OVER FLOWS FROM FILL TUBE EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED WITH GASOLINE. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY FILL UP AND EVERY STATION USED TO GET GAS.
Backing plate comes un riveted making lots of grinding noises. I was backing up one day and my tire sensor snapped off and my cars started grinding so badly it was un drivable.
THE REAR SUSPENSION LOWER CONTROL ARM HAS BEEN RECALLED. THE FRONT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. SAME PROBLEM IN THE FROM. MY BOY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. CREATED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. *DT NO VIN AVAILABLE*JB
6/9/2018 AROUND 11:30 AM ENGINE - STARTS AND STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. WAS DRIVING AND SLOWED DOWN TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN NO WARNING. IT STARTED BACK UP; HOWEVER, THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO THE BACK OF ME - CAR BEHIND ME STARTED BLOWING THE HORN CONTINUOUSLY; ALTHOUGH, FLASHER WAS TURNED ON IMMEDIATELY. IT OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES WITHIN AN HOUR - 2 TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE AND ONE TIME WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO SLOW DOWN AS TRAFFIC CAME TO A NEAR HALT. VERY SCARY SITUATION. ABOUT 5-6 MONTHS AGO THIS OCCUR ABOUT 5-6 TIMES IN HEAVY AFTERNOON TRAFFIC DUE TO AN ACCIDENT. THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS; NOW I SEE IT IS OCCURRING AGAIN. HAS TO BE A BIGGER OR MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM. OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM JUST LOOK ONLINE. CAN NOT AFFORD TO ALLOW CAR TO IDLE TOO LONG. SAME VEHICLE WHERE ABS, ESP/BAS, TRACTION/ANTI-SKID LIGHTS REMAIN ON EVEN AFTER INSTALLING A NEW CLOCKSPRING AND ALL FOUR ABS SENSORS. DO NOT HAVE ANY PICTURES TO UPLOAD.

IF THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD WITH THIS CONDITION, THE BALL JOINT MAY EVENTUALLY EXPERIENCE WEAR AND LOOSENESS. CONSEQUENCE WHEN THE DRIVER CONTINUES TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE WITH THIS CONDITION, THE CONTAMINATION CAN LEAD TO CORROSION, ACCELERATED WEAR AND POSSIBLY SEPARATION FROM THE STEERING KNUCKLE CAUSING A LOSS OF VEHICLE STEERING CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V278000 (SUSPENSION), BUT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE U38/NHTSA 18V-278 IN JUNE 2018 VIA USPS. TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL JEEP DEALER. CAR WAS TAKEN IN SEPT 17TH TO UFTRING JEEP DEALER 140 RADIO CITY DR, PEKIN, IL 61554. THIS DEALER DETERMINED THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NEED THE RECALL PARTS (REAR CONTROL ARM & ANY OTHER NECESSARY PARTS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR). I WAS TOLD THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER AND UFTRING STATED THAT THERE IS NO SPECIFIC OR ESTIMATED DATE FOR PARTS TO ARRIVE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. IS JEEP WILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE REPAIR IS COMPLETED? I WANT TO KNOW WHERE THESE PARTS ARE AND WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE IN MY AREA TO REPAIR MY CAR?

WHEN FILLING TANK GAS DOES NOT STOP AUTOMATICALLY, THERE IS A LOT OF GAS THAT OVERFLOWS DOWN SIDE OF CAR ONTO THE GROUND. DOESN'T MATTER SPEED OF FILLING THE TANK IT WILL OVERFLOW UNLESS MANUAL STOP OF FILLING PRIOR TO GAS TANK BEING FULL AND WILL SOMETIMES STILL OVERFLOW. THE VEHICLE IS OFF AND PARKED AT THE PUMP, DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GAS STATION IS USED THE ISSUE HAPPENS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME FILLING UP WITH THE LAST TIME ON 5/12.

I HAVE A DEALERSHIP CONVERTED RIGHT HAND DRIVE JEEP LIBERTY. I WAS SLOWING DOWN PULLING UP TO A MAILBOX AND THE LEFT LOWER BALL JOINT SNAPPED IN HALF. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS PULLING AWAY FROM A MAILBOX AND THE RIGHT LOWER BALL JOINT SNAPPED IN HALF. BOTH TIMES I WAS IN MOTION. LUCKILY, I WAS GOING SLOW AND THEY WERE ON BACK ROADS. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK ALL JOINTS PRIOR TO THEM BREAKING AND HE SAID EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. MY HUSBAND AND FATHER EVEN CHECKED AFTER HIM. I CHECKED MY VIN NUMBER AND IT WAS NOT LISTED.

THERE IS A WHITE POWDER LIKE SUBSTANCE THAT COMES OUT OF THE AIR VENTS AND HAS AN OILY TEXTURE AND AN OVERPOWERING SMELL. IT CLOUDS THE WINDSHIELD AND OBSTRUCTS MY VISION. I CANNOT DRIVE IT DUE TO THE CLOUDING AND SMELL. THIS HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING ANYWHERE, TURNING, OR STATIONARY. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN AS I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT IN THE CAR. I CAN'T HAVE IT REPAIRED AS I CANNOT AFFORD IT. I HAVE A NICE VEHICLE, BUT CANNOT DRIVE IT IN THIS CONDITION. SO THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN.
THE BRACKET THAT IS RIVETED TO THE SEAT FRAME/PAN AND BOLTED TO THE SEAT BACK FRACTURED INTO TWO PIECES. THE BRACKET ON EACH SIDE OF THE FRAME FAILED UNDER NORMAL USE CONDITIONS. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT USED FRAME AND UPON DID-ASSEMBLY DISCOVERED THE SAME FAILURE. THIS COULD BE A FATAL CONDITION IN A CRASH, ESPECIALLY IF THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE REAR SEAT.

I HAD TO HAVE MY FRONT SUSPENSION BALL JOINTS REPLACED. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY VECHILE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT IT WAS BUILT IN MARCH 2006. THEY WERE ABOUT TO FALL APART WHEN I TOOK THEM TO BE REPAIRED. I THINK THEY SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL. I HEARD A NOISE AND WHEN I TOOK WHAT I THOUGHT WAS BREAKS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS LUCKY THAT THE BALL JOINTS HAD NOT FALLEN OUT. I HAD JUST GOT BACK FROM A FOUR OUT DRIVE TO THE BEACH. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.
THE TILT FUNCTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL FREQUENTLY COMES UNLOCKED CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO MOVE UP AND DOWN. THIS IS PARTICULARLY BAD WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN REVERSING. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE AN EASY WAY TO TIGHTEN THE TENSION ON THE ADJUSTMENT LEVER.

WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE PUMP FAILS TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF DUE TO A FAULTY FUEL FILLER NECK. THE ENTIRE GAS TANK MUST BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE VALVE IS PART OF THE TANK AND CANNOT BE REPLACED SEPARATELY. THE FUEL SPILLAGE HAZARD CREATES RISK OF EXPLOSION AT THE GAS STATION.
1. FRONT UPPER AND LOWER CONTROL ARMS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING AS THEY SUPPOSED TO. IF THERE IS A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD THIS SUV VIHECLE GOT HIT STRONGLY. BOLTS ARE OUT OF ORDER TOO. ON MOTION MAKES LOTS OF NOISE AND SQUEEZING SOUNDS AS WELL. 2. INTERNAL ELECRICAL WIRING HAS SOME ISSUES. THE FRONT CEILING LIGHT GETS ON AND OFF ON ITS OWN. THE AIRCONTIONER LED LIGHT AS WELL.
