THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRS PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO IMPLEMENT THE REMEDY BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DID NOT SUPPORT PROPER INSTALLATION DUE TO CORROSION SURROUNDING THE HITCH ATTACHMENT AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,664.
A LARGE NOISE FOLLOWED BY DETERIORATED CONTROL STEERING MY VEHICLE. AFTER FORCING IT INTO A PARKING LOT, A VIEW OF UNDERNEATH FRONT DRIVERS SIDE REVEALED A LARGE METAL OBJECT BROKEN AND JAMMED INTO MY WHEEL. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE RECALL #09E039000 OR RECALL ID # 91163. LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATES MY VIN IS NOT IN THIS RECALL AND CANNOT FIX IT UNDER THE RECALL. MY MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF VEHICLE MATCHES THE RECALL AND I THINK THIS CALLS FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO ADDITIONAL VEHICLES. *TR

UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WHEEL WAS NOT PROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER BALL JOINT FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL POPPING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINTS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

HEADLIGHTS FLICKER WHEN ACCELERATING ON DASH LIGHTS AS WELL, WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN BOTH DASH AND HEADLIGHTS ARE USED. ALSO, WHEN THE LIGHTS ARE ON THE HEAT IS ALSO RUNNING, IT ACTS LIKE THERE IS A SHORT IN THE SYSTEM. *TR

3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE SAW MILL PARKWAY THIS MORNING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ACCELERATE OUT OF CONTROL. THE BRAKES COULD NOT CONTROL IT. THE FIRST TIME I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE REVERTED TO IDLE SPEED AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE NORMALLY. A FEW MILES LATER IT DID IT AGAIN AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS TIME WHEN I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE RACED AT FULL SPEED AS IF IT WAS BEING FLOORED. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE KEY. WHEN I RESTARTED THE ENGINE IT RAN FINE FOR A FEW MILES UNTIL I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY. AGAIN WHEN I SLOWED TO A STOP THE ENGINE RACED AT FULL REVS. GOING INTO NEUTRAL DID NOT HELP. TURNING OFF THE KEY FIXED IT. AT THE END OF THE DAY AFTER WORK THE VEHICLE BEHAVED NORMALLY. THIS JEEP HAS DONE THIS 3 TIMES IN THE PAST, IN JANUARY 2009, FEB 2012 AND OCTOBER 2014. *TR
THE SUNROOF DRAINS INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND ON TO THE FUSE PANEL AND FREEZES. I HAVE TO REPLACE AT $822.00. A SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED IN 2006 ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE THE DRAIN ISSUE WAS REPAIRED BY DEALER DURING WARRANTY IN 2007. A FROZEN FUSE PANEL CAN CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE INSIDE THE CAR. *TR
I HAVE HAD A COUPLE OF PRETTY BAD ACCIDENTS TO FRONT END OF MY JEEP LIBERTY AND THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. LAST ACCIDENT WAS PRETTY BAD. VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FROM OF ME AND I T-BONED THEM, I TRIED TO STOP BUT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME. EVERY AIRBAG IN THEIR VEHICLE DEPLOYED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY WHEN VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME.

MY AIR BAG LIGHT INDICATOR ACTIVATED, AND AT THE SAME TIME MY HORN STOPPED WORKING! AFTER HAVING IT CHECKED OUT BY A REPAIR SHOP, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THIS ASSEMBLY HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MALFUNCTION OF AIR BAGS IN OTHER 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S; HOWEVER, RECALLS OF THIS PROBLEM APPLY TO OTHER VIN NUMBERS (BEGINNING WITH THE LETTER K). I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT THE COST OF REPAIRS WILL EXCEED $400.00, AND THAT MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE THAT CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY'S ARE THAT MUCH DIFFERENT AMONGST THE DIFFERENT VIN NUMBERS? I AM HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS, AND IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IN ADDITION TO HAVING NO HORN THAT MY AIR BAGS WOULD NOT EMPLOY IN THE EVENT THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE KILLED IN A VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER VIN NUMBER TO BE CHECKED OUT ON THE CURRENT LISTING? *JS

WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE, FUEL COMES SPLASHING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY ANYONE STANDING TOO CLOSE. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE NHTSA THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH JEEP VEHICLES THAT WHEN FUELING UP THE GAS TANK A GEYSER OF GASOLINE WILL ERUPT FROM THE TANK UPON "COMPLETION" OF FILLING THE TANK. COVERING THE CAR, THE INDIVIDUAL FILLING THE TANK, THE GROUND, AND ANYONE ELSE WITHIN A CERTAIN VICINITY IN GASOLINE, A HIGHLY FLAMMABLE LIQUID. CHRYSLER HAS A HISTORY OF THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES. IN 2009, 45,000 CARS WERE RECALLED FOR IT. CURRENTLY, CHRYSLER HAS AGREED TO "INITIATE A LIFETIME WARRANTY PROGRAM" TO ADDRESS THIS VERY ISSUE IN 135,000 JEEPS MANUFACTURED IN 2007 AND 2008. LEAVING ALL OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH THIS ISSUE TO CONTINUE RISKING THEIR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF OTHERS BY GETTING CONTINUALLY DOUSED IN GASOLINE. RECENTLY, CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL FOR 430,000 JEEPS BECAUSE OF A WEAKNESS IN THE GAS TANK THAT CAN BURST INTO FLAME IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION. SO THEY KNOW THEIR GAS TANKS ARE WEAK! THIS LATEST RECALL ADMITS TO IT. SO WHY THE DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE REST OF US JEEP OWNERS WITH FAULTY INLET CHECK VALVES? WHERE IS JUSTICE, AND CONCERN FOR OUR SAFETY? *TR
WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE JEEP LIBERTY 2006 THAT HAD A RECALL ON THE BALL JOINTS AND STABILIZER BARS IN 2006. OF COURSE, WE HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED WHEN THE JEEP WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OLD. IT MAY HAVE HAD LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. WHEN VISITING THE DEALER ON DEC 2, 2014 FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE BALANCE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE BALL JOINTS ON DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE OF JEEP WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF 1100.00 (WE ONLY HAVE 61,600 MILES ON JEEP) I WAS SHOCKED THAT A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND ONLY DRIVEN BY THE MOM OF THE FAMILY AROUND TOWN OF ABOUT 6000 MILES A YEAR COULD INCUR SUCH A DRASTIC PROBLEM. THIS IS A VALID SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE INTEGRITY OF THE RECALL. THE REPAIR SHOULD HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY OR AT LEAST 100K MILES. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, THESE BALL JOINTS DISINTEGRATED WITHOUT BEING FAULTY FROM THE BEING. MY QUESTION LIES IF MY VEHICLE WAS REALLY TAKEN CARE OF, OR WAS IT JUST LOOKED AT BECAUSE IT WAS BRAND NEW AT THE TIME. OUR LIBERTY HAS HAD FULL SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES AND TREATED WITH THE UTMOST CARE. SO IT REALLY SADDENS ME THAT CHRYSLER HAS SUCH "SAFETY" ISSUES. OF ALL THINGS THAT CAN GO WRONG WITH A CAR, WHEN IT REFERS TO A PREVIOUS RECALL, IT'S OBVIOUS THE ISSUE WAS NEVER REALLY ADDRESSED. *JS

WHEN PUSHED TO SPEED UP AT A FAST RATE AND UPON APPROACHING 65MPH OR FASTER THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES SLOWLY. MY MECHANIC FOUND THE CODE READER SAYING A MISFIRE WAS HAPPENING. WHEN THAT LIGHT FLASHES IT STARTS TO SHAKE PRETTY BAD. DETERMINED THAT CYLINDER 1 HAS LOW COMPRESSION. ONLY WAY TO FIND OUT FOR SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT IS TO TEAR DOWN THE MOTOR WHICH I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR THAT. SAD HOW WAISTFUL PEOPLE ARE FORCED TO BE WITH VEHICLES. ITS STILL PRETTY NEW!! WE TOOK GOOD CARE OF THIS JEEP MAINTAINING IT CORRECTLY SINCE WE GOT IT WITH ONLY 37K MILES AND HAS NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS TILL NOW. SO THIS WAS A SHOCK! BEFORE 37K MILES I AM NOT AWARE OF THIS PARTICULAR JEEP'S ENGINE REPAIR HISTORY. ALSO THIS SAME JEEP HAD THE CLOGGED FUEL LINE CAUSING THE TANK TO SPILL OUT WHILE FUELING UP WHEN IT WAS NOT FULL YET. *TR
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN AUGUST 2014 REGARDING THE FUEL TANK ON MY CAR. IT HAS TAKEN UNTIL TODAY TO GET THE PART AT THE DEALERSHIP, JONES OF BEL AIR. SOME OF THE BLAME IS DUE TO THE PARTS NOT BEING AVAILABLE AND THAT JONES DID NOT CONTACT ME WHEN THE PARTS CAME IN, AS THEY SAID THEY WOULD. I BELIEVE THIS HAS PLACED ME AT RISK OF HARM DUE TO THE FUEL TANK LEAK THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. *TR
Power both rear Window Regulators malfunction and in same month failed for 2006 Jeep Liberty SPORT UTILITY 4WD 4-DR windows failed down while driving , with occupants. it was scary because my family started screaming . and got my attention off of my driving try and get off highway asp to see what happen i had to prop-up window on one then the other did the same about two weeks later. and it was winter very cold going down the road. the glass could have broken and my family could have got cut from glass or sick from cold. this product failed on two windows . the Window Regulators are Defected . and should be Recalled it has not been the confirmed by a dealer. all they wanted was to sell me parts . there was no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

IN NOV 2014 AS I WAS DELIVERING MAIL IN MY RHD JEEP LIBERTY 06, MY HEAT WAS ON AND MY BLOWER FAN "BLEW UP", BLOWING BLACK SMOKE INTO THE JEEP FROM THE VENTS AND A BURNING SMELL CAME FROM THE DASH BOARD. I TOOK THE JEEP TO MY LOCAL GARAGE IN WHICH TIME THEY TORE THE DASH APART AND FOUND IT HAD IN FACT "BLEW UP". IT NOW ONLY RUNS ON ONE SPEED (HIGH). DURING THE NEXT FEW MONTHS (WINTER) EVERY TIME I RUN MY HEATER WITH THE FAN OR THE DEFROST MY DASH BOARD GOES HAYWIRE. MEANING GAUGES SHUT DOWN, ALL ALERT LIGHTS GO ON AND/OR FLASH AND ALL BEEPS, BUZZERS AND NOISES SOUND. IT CONTINUES UNTIL I TURN THE HEAT/DEFROST OFF. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE GARAGE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IN WHICH THEY RAN THE SCANNER WITH 7 CODES COMING UP. AFTER A FEW HOURS OF SITTING IT WOULD JUST RESET ITSELF AND CODES WOULD DISAPPEAR. EVERYTIME IT RAINS NOW THE DASH BOARD DOES THE SAME THING. I HAVE HAD 2 GARAGES AND SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS LOOK AT IT AND CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. ON APRIL 25 I CALLED CHRYSLER TO GET MY JEEP IN FOR THE N46 RECALL AND ASKED ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I TOLD HER IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE JEEP LIBERTYS. HER RESPONSE TO ME WAS "IN THE LAST 25 YRS I'VE WORKED HERE, I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM." SO I SAID I'D LIKE IT LOOKED AT WHILE ITS THERE FOR THE RECALL ISSUE. HER RESPONSE AGAIN WAS " YOU NEED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE GARAGE THAT LOOKED AT IT THE FIRST TIME, AND YOU DO KNOW THAT WE AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE $98 AN HOUR FOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS." I WAS LOOKING OVER MY PAPER SENT IN THE MAIL TO ME ABOUT THE N46 RECALL TODAY AND FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAPER IT READS............"ASK YOUR DEALER ABOUT THE FOLLOWING NOTIFICATION. OUR RECORDS INDICATE THAT YOUR VEHICLE ALSO REQUIRES REPAIR FOR NOTIFICATION G03" I GOOGLE SEARCHED JEEP LIBERTY 06 RECALL G03 AND FOUND.........THIS IS A BLOWER FAN ISSUE. I PURCHASED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A WELL MAINTAINED 2006 JEEP FROM A LOCAL REPUTABLE DEALER AT A COST OVER OF 10 GRAND ON 10/3/14. THE FIRST TANK FILL UP THE GAS OVERFLOWED OUT OF THE TANK. THERE WAS NO "STOP" THE GAS JUST CAME OUT. I ASKED THE CASHIER IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS PUMP AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW. SO, THE NEXT GAS FILL UP A WEEK LATER, THE GAS SHOT OUT OF THE TANK THIS TIME. STILL NO WARNING TO STOP FILLING THE TANK WITH A GAS "STOP". I CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH THE TANK, AND HAD TO PAY FOR AND SEND THE CAR TO A LOCAL JEEP DEALER FOR REPAIR. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, THEY REPLACED THE GAS TANK. ALBEIT I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK WITH LESS GAS THAN I HAD LEFT IT WITH. TOOK THE CAR HOME, FILED THE CAR ON FRIDAY 11/7/14 AND THE GAS MECHANISM DID STOP THE GAS, BUT ONLY AFTER GAS LEAKED OUT FROM THE GAS TANK AGAIN, AND THEY NEVER EVEN TESTED THE CAR TO MAKE SURE IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN! AS I FOUND OUT LATER, THEY REPLACED THE TANK WITH A USED TANK. I AM INCREDULOUS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. MY DEALER IS GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ISSUE, I HOPE. AND IF IT IS NOT FIXABLE, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP OR CHRYSLER PRODUCT! FROM WHAT I AM READING ON THE WEB NO ONE IS LISTENING TO US JEEP OWNERS.
