TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL DID NOT WORK. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT A SWITCH PART OF THE TURN SIGNAL MECHANISM FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE PART WAS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE DUE TO A HEAVY DEMAND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,000. I WAS AWAKENED BY POLICE STATING THAT MY HORN HAD BEEN SOUNDING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. I DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE FLOOR COMPARTMENT AND FUSE BOX WERE SOAKING WET. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHO STATED WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE CAR BECAUSE THE SUNROOF HAD A SIGNIFICANT GAP IN THE L/R SUNROOF GLASS; GAP WAS NOT CAUSED BY DAMAGE. THE GAP WAS NOT REPAIRABLE; THE FIX WAS TO TAPE OFF THE OUTSIDE OF THE SUNROOF. THIS STILL LEAVES THE POSSIBILITY THAT WASTER CAN GET INTO THE INNER FUSE BOX AND POSSIBLY CAUSE A SHORT OR A FIRE.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, (LITERALLY MOVED MAYBE 2 INCHES) THE LOWER FRONT CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BROKE SUDDENLY. FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND DURING MY RESEARCH THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF ISSUES WITH THIS SAME PART FAILING WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. MORE SO, THERE WAS A RECALL OF THE REAR CONTROL ARM/BALL JOINT AND THE FRONT WAS RECALLED ON THE 2005 MODELS IN 2006. THERE IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THE CONTROL ARMS IN 2005-2007 LIBERTY MODELS. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE FAILING PART APPEARS TO HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TIRE AS WELL AS THE TIRE APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN LEANING INWARD AND RUBBING ALONG SOMETHING ALONG THE INTERIOR, UNDERSIDE OF THE WHEEL WELL. IT IS A GOOD THING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TRAVELING AT ANY SIGNIFICANT RATE OF SPEED OR THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE OR DEATH.
SINCE I'M LIMITED TO WORD USE I'LL TRY TO KEEP IT SHORT LOSS OF POWER TO TURNS OFF AND DOESN'T WANT TO RESTART, CRUISE CONTROL, MIRRORS, HALF OF FUSE BOX, WINDOWS OFF AND ON, IGNITION STARTS ON IT'S OWN WHEN IN THE START POSITION, TRACTION LIGHT NOW COMES ON, ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT HAS COME ON, PART TIME LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN IN 2 WD. I CAN FEEL HOW IT'S TRYING TO SWITCH BACK AND FORTH. THIS VEHICLE IS BECOMING A LEMON. I'VE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP, CRANK AND CAM SENSORS AND ALSO CHANGED SWITCHES IN THE STEERING COLUMN. IN WHICH NONE OF FIXED THE PROBLEMS. AFTER TALKING TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED BUT THAT PART IS DISCONTINUED.... THE VEHICLE ISN'T 10 YEARS OR OLDER AND AFTER RESEARCHING THESE ISSUES THERE ARE MANY MANY LIBERTY OWNERS WITH THESE SAME ISSUES. HOW CAN WE FIX OUR VEHICLES IF THIS PART ISN'T AVAILABLE TO US OR THE DEALERSHIP??? JEEP HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ALL ALONE BUT DOESN'T WANT TO HAVE TO DO A RECALL ON EVERY SINCE JEEP TO FIX THIS ISSUE BUT I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER JEEP UNLESS THEY FIX THE ISSUE.. I LOVE THE VEHICLE OTHER THAN THE PROBLEMS I'M HAVING. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY GIVEN TIME WITHOUT NOTICE AND IS BECOMING WORST. IF I LOSE POWER AND I'M DRIVING THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH LOTS OF INJURIES IF NOT DEATH. PLEASE MAKE JEEP FIX OUR VEHICLES. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE. THIS BODY IS IN GREAT SHAPE
TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR N46 RECALL. THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS LEVEL 5 CORROSION, CANNOT COMPLETE THE RECALL. AFTER REVIEWING THE INFORMATION AND REVIEWING CHRYSLERS DETAILED WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FIX WITH PICTURES OF THE VARIOUS LEVELS OF CORROSION (SEE PAGE 8 IN RCRIT-13V252), THINGS DIDN'T MAKE MUCH SENSE. I CALLED THE DEALER BACK AND THEY STATED THE THREADS NOT THE FRAME HAD LEVEL 5 CORROSION. FURTHER IN ON PAGE 10-11 IT TALKS ABOUT REPLACING THESE STUDS IF THEY ARE CORRODED. THEY OFFERED NO REMEDY FOR THE SITUATION OR CORRECTION NEEDED TO PREPARE THE THREADED STUD, THEIR INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO REPLACE ANYWAY. I'M LEFT WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE TO TRANSPORT MY FAMILY IN. ATTACHED ARE THEIR DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS AS WELL AS A PICTURE OF THE AREA IN QUESTION.
GASCAP FLASHING AND BINGING. HAVE PURCHASED 2 CAPS FOR LANDERS JEEP RESET THE ENGINE CODE AND IS STILL FLASHING AND BINGING. CAN SEE GAS VAPORS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE EMITTED FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL SEPARATED FROM THE LOWER BALL JOINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE WINDOWS IN THE CAR HAVE SUDDENLY FALLEN SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED IN 2007. THE FIRST TIME (2007)THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THE PROBLEM WAS ADDRESSED. ANOTHER WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPLACE UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD. SINCE THE WARRANTY ENDED, THE WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN SEVERAL TIMES. ONCE I PAID FOR THE REPAIR SINCE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD ENDED, BUT RIGHT REAR WINDOW FELL IN 2015(HAD BEEN REPAIRED THE FIRST TIME IN 2007) AND THE RIGHT FRONT FELL TODAY(2016). THE WINDOWS FELL WHILE DRIVING BOTH ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS WHICH IS A MAJOR DISTRACTION WHILE DRIVING. THE WINDOW FELL TODAY WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE FAULTY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT AND THE COMPONENTS USED TO REPAIR THEM HAVE THE SAME ISSUES.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE ON NOVEMBER 29,2014 A YEAR LATER THE JEEP START BREAKING DOWN SUCH AS OVERHEATED AND WATERPUMP ENGINE LIGHT ELECTRICAL KEEP GOING OFF POWER WINDOWS SEEM OFF TRACK ALL FOUR WINDOWS .PRESSURE TO DRIVE IT NOT PICK UP SPEED LIMIT
WINDOW FALLING DOWN INSIDE OF DOOR PANEL, THIS WOULD BE THE 5TH TIME IT'S HAPPENED.
MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT CLOSE. I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH MY DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FOR YEARS. THE COMPANY CLAIMS THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT JEEP WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONING.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN PARKING LOT AND WOULD NOT START WHEN TURNING KEY. NO SOUND OR MOVEMENT. MECHANIC NOTED BROKEN ROD IN STEERING COLUMN. JEEP WOULD NOT REPLACE INEXPENSIVE ROD AND ONLY SOLD ENTIRE $700 STEERING COLUMN.
I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP DOWN A STEEP ROAD IN THE SUMMER 2016 WHEN THE ESP BAS LIGHTS CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS BEING A 'CLOCKSPRING' ISSUE. WHEN THEY CHECKED FOR AVAILABILITY, IT WAS BACK ORDERED -60 AND EVEN TOLD ME THEY MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET ONE, WHICH TO ME MEANS THAT IS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY. I DID ASK IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS PART AND WAS TOLD 'NO'. I WAS TOLD THAT NORMALLY THE CLOCKSPRING IS LIFETIME WARRANTIED. NOT THE CASE WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY. THEY FINALLY FOUND ONE AND I HAVE IT SCHEDULED TO BE PUT IN TOMORROW, 03/31.2017. THIS PART IS COSTING ME A LOT OF MONEY. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS RELATED TO THE SPRING, BUT OCCASIONALLY MY WHEELS LOCK FOR APPROXIMATELY A SECOND OR 2. YOU CAN FEEL THE BRAKE APPLY AND HEAR IT MAKE A SOUND ON THE ASPHALT. LIKE A SKID. I AM GOING TO TELL THEM ABOUT THE ISSUE ON 03/31. I AM A SENIOR WHO DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY; AS A MATTER OF FACT, I HAD TO BORROW THE MONEY TO REPAIR MY JEEP.

THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM DISENGAGED FROM THE BALLS JOINTS AND CAUSED THE SUSPENSION TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO FAULTY BALL JOINTS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, WHILE DRIVING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, A LOUD BANGING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HEARD A BUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND FOUND OUT THAT THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING WAS NO LONGER OPERATIONAL. IN ADDITION, THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE FEATURE, CRUISE CONTROL, AND AIRBAG ARE NO LONGER OPERATIONAL. I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS PART FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND IT IS NOT AVAILABLE IN MOST CASES. THE ORIGINAL COST FOR THE CLOCKSPRING RANGED FROM $80 TO $130 DEPENDING ON THE DEALER. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND ONE CLOCKSPRING AND THE DEALER WANTED $650 FOR THE PART PLUS INSTALLATION, AND HE ONLY HAD ONE AVAILABLE.
THE WARNING LIGHT ABOUT AIR BAGS IS LIT-INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAGS ARE NOT WORKING. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED MANY REMEDIES INCLUDING A NEW PASSENGER SEAT, AND ANOTHER USED PART. THESE REPAIRS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE "VIN SPECIFIC." I WAS FINALLY TOLD THAT THE ONLY REMEDY IS A SPRAG AND PAD RESTRAINT, AND THAT THERE ARE ONLY FIVE AVAILABLE IN THE UNITED STATES. AFTER WAITING FOR THE PART TO COME IN, THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THE PART IS NOT MANUFACTURED ANY LONGER. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. THEY GAVE MY DEALER ANOTHER PARTS SOURCE, BUT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE THERE EITHER. I NOW HAVE A CAR WITHOUT FUNCTIONING AIRBAGS. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS AFFECTS ONLY THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS OR ALL AIRBAGS. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AT THIS POINT.
WITH KEY IN ON POSITION IT TRIES AND WILL CRANK BY ITSELF. ALSO NOT GETTING POWER TO SOME OF THE FUSE BOX AND THE PART TIME LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN IN 2WD. WHEN ASKED JEEP DEALER I WAS TOLD THEY NEVER HEAR OF THIS AND WHEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM THERE WERE TONS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO RESULT OF WHAT TO DO. ALL ISSUES THEY JUST WANT TO CHARGE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX.
THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING HAS BROKEN AND WE WERE TOLD THE AIRBAGS, ANTI LOCK BRAKES AND THE STABILITY CONTROL WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THIS PART. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THIS PART AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS ON BACK ORDER AND ANYWHERE FROM 35 TO 100 ARE ON THE WAITING LIST BEFORE US. THIS IS FOR THE MOPAR REPLACEMENT PART. NO ONE ELSE IS MAKING THIS PART AND WE ARE FORCED TO DRIVE, WHAT WE FEEL IS AN UNSAFE CAR. NOTHING PARTICULAR HAPPENED, THE WARNING LIGHTS JUST WENT ON.
ALMOST EVERY TIME I FILL-UP, THERE IS A SPLASH-BACK FROM THE FUEL FILLER OPENING. THIS APPARENTLY IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE LIBERTY MODEL AMONG OTHERS. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL THAT WOULD PAY FOR IT. I THEN CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO TOLD ME THAT MY SPECIFIC LIBERTY IS NOT PART OF ANY RECALL OR TSB SO THEY CANNOT HELP. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM POSES A HAZARD IF THE GAS WAS TO IGNITE. THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE WAS ON 26 FEBRUARY 2016.
ALL 4 WINDOWS ON MY CAR HAVE FAILED WIDOW REGULATORS, SO NONE OF MY WINDOWS STAY UP. I HAVE 2 OTHER FRIENDS WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
I DRIVE A STICK.EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED AND IN 2ND GEAR. PARKED ON A SLIGHT DECLINE. AFTER A HOUR OF BEING PARKED CAR ROLLED INTO A PIZZA HUT. POLICE REPORTS AND INSURANCE CLAIM MADE. MY CAR WAS IN A PARKING LOT PARKED.
Many Jeep vehicles have gas blow back during refueling. This problem has existed for a number of years and Jeep has issued recalls. Please read the following: If each Jeep user spills .1 gallon during refueling and they refuel the Jeep 12 times per year they spill 1.2 gallons per year. This is a very low estimate. If there are 100,000 Jeeps experiencing this problem that is 120,000 gallons of gas per year. Does anyone at NHTSA care?
DESPITE GOOD MAINTENANCE RECORDS, ENGINE SEIZED WHILE JEEP WAS IN MOTION, RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, STEERING AND BRAKE ASSIST. THERE WERE ZERO WARNINGS SUCH A THING WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN. NO ENGINE LIGHT. NO ABNORMAL ENGINE NOISE. NOTHING. THE ENGINE JUST SEIZED. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. DEALER DESCRIBED ENGINE FAILURE AS 'ONE-IN-A-MILLION.' VALVE FELL INTO CYLINDER, CAUSING A DESTRUCTIVE CHAIN REACTION. UPON CONTACTING CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND PRESENTING MY 'ONE-IN-A-MILLION' TYPE OF FAILURE (CASE ID# 28648873), I REQUESTED SUPPORT, BUT WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY KIND OF SUPPORT AND THAT THE DECISION WAS FINAL. DOES ANYONE GO OUT BUYING A USED CAR EXPECTING THAT THE ENGINE WILL RUIN ITSELF ALL THE SUDDEN, JUST BECAUSE IT'S OVER 100K MILES? (THE MILEAGE BEING ONE OF THE REASONS WHY NO SUPPORT WOULD BE PROVIDED) THE 'AUTOCHECK' REPORT LISTED ONLY TWO OWNERS BEFORE ME. THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD BOUGHT THIS AS A 'PRE-OWNED CERTIFIED' CAR, AND AFTER 6 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP AND PROPER MAINTENANCE LET GO OF IT. THE AUTOCHECK REPORT RATED IT 79 ON A SCALE FROM 71 TO 84, AND I WAS IN EFFECT, JUST THE THIRD OWNER! THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD TO UNFORTUNATELY SURRENDER THE CAR TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY, GIVEN THE EXPENSIVE COSMETIC REPAIR COST OF A REAR END IMPACT. I PURCHASED THE CAR AT A PUBLIC AUTO AUCTION AND GOT THE REAR END REPAIRED. AS WEEKS HAVE GONE BY AND I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING MY OPTIONS, I HAVE COME TO LEARN THAT THOSE 3.7L POWERTECH ENGINES HAD SOME DESIGN FLAWS THAT HAVE COST NUMEROUS JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS ANYWHERE FROM DROPPED VALVES, TO FALLEN ROCKER ARMS, LEADING IN CASES LIKE MINE, TO CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. HAD MY ENGINE FAILURE TAKEN PLACE AT HIGHWAY SPEED, A POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING OUTCOME COULD HAVE HAPPENED.
AUTO TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFTS IN AND OUT OF GEAR BETWEEN 35 AND 45 MILES AN HOUR.JEEP REARING END WILL KNOCK REALLY HARD. IT HAS BEEN PARKED . AN USED AS NEEDED. CALLED ABOUT THERE RECALL THEY WILL NOT FIX IT.
THE GAS TANK IS IMPROPERLY DESIGNED, WHILE PUMPING GAS IT WILL NOT PROPERLY SHUT OFF, WILL SPRAY GAS WHICH IS CLEARLY DANGEROUS.
MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY SUNROOF IS LEAKING FOR THE 2ND TIME IN 3 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME I WENT AND GOT THE DRAINAGE TUBES CLEARED OUT BY THE DEALER. IT STARTED LEAKING AGAIN 2 DAYS AGO, AND WHEN IT LEAKS, WATER GETS INTO MY CAR. MY MECHANIC OPENED IT UP AND FOUND THE ENTIRE SUNROOF IS ACTUALLY BROKEN. HE SUSPECTS THAT THE DEALER NEW ABOUT THE ISSUE OF THE SUNROOF BUT DIDN'T TELL ME. THERE IS A PENDING LAWSUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER FOR THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER THEY ARE REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND ARE NOT OFFERING COMPENSATION AT THIS TIME.
REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM IS ALL RUSTED CREATING SAFETY HAZARD. JEEP HAS RECALLED LOWER CONTROL ARM ON THIS MODEL BUT WILL DO NOTHING FOR UPPER ARM RUST FACTOR. RECALL VALID ONLY FOR CARS IN AREAS WHERE ROADS HEAVILY SALTED IN WINTER. WE ARE IN NORTH EAST. SERVICE LOOKED AT IT 1/6/16.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS WERE JAMMED AFTER BEING LATCHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOISED THAT THE SEAT BELT LATCH MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
JEEP IS REFUSING TO PROVIDE OR MANUFACTURE THE TRAILER HITCH REQUIRED TO PROTECT THE FUEL TANK!
THE FILLER NECK IN FAILING ON MY JEEP LIBERTY 2007 AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE! WHEN I FILL UP MY TANK WITH GAS, THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF OCCURS AND WHEN I REMOVE THE NOZZLE, GAS SPITS BACK AT ME. AT FIRST IT WOULD HAPPEN AFTER THE TANK WAS FULL, NOW IT IS HAPPENING AFTER ONLY FILLING UP 2 GAL (WHEN ON EMPTY!).
ONE WEEK AGO FROM 11/28/15, I WAS INFORMED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OUT. JUST SUDDENLY NO LIGHTS, THEN ONE BY ONE TAIL LIGHTS STARTED GOING OUT. I HAD A 2008 COMPASS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, THAT WAS NEVER REPAIRABLE. I WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME, AND WITH NO MEANS OF OTHER TRANSPORTATION I HAVE TO DRIVE WITH NO LIGHTS.

THE FUEL CAP WAS PLACED ONTO THE FUEL NECK AND FUEL LEAKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VENT TUBE AND FILLER TUBE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING. I WAS DRIVING DURING A SNOW STORM. MY CAR WONT GO INTO 4X4 CAUSING ME TO LOOSE CONTROL. HAD IT FIXED IN FEB 2015 FOR $680.00. REPLACE THE DRIVESHAFT. NOW THAT IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. ON NOV 2 TIL NOW *NOV 13, 2015* STILL SAME PROBLEM. IT IS SO MUCH NOISE AND LOT OF VIBRATION. WHEN I MAKE A TURN RIGHT IT IS QUIET AND NO VIBRATION BUT GOING LEFT MAKE IT WORSE. ON A REVERSE THAT EVEN WORSE ALMOST CANT REVERSE AT ALL. DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT SOME SPEED IT GET QUIET AND NO VIBRATION BUT WILL RETURN THAT HORRIBLE NOISE AND VIBRATION.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FISHTAIL INTO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CROSSED OVER TWO LANES AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WITH THE IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE FACILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW GLASS HAS DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE MOTOR STILL MAKES SOUND AS THOUGH IT IS WORKING BUT THE GLASS DOES NOT MOVE.
THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AT ARBITRARY TIMES AND THEN REMAINS ON FOR THE REMINDER OF MY DRIVE. WHEN MAKING RIGHT HAND TURNS AT SPEED, THERE IS A "GRINDING" NOISE THAT EMINATES FROM THE LEFT FRONT TIRE & ALMOST FEELS LIKE I WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED IT WAS A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND THAT THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR IS ERRATIC, THEREBY CAUSING THE SLIPPAGE. PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR A *MINUMUM* OF THREE WEEKS FROM THE MANUFACTURER - WAS INFORMED THAT THERE ARE 113 OF THESE BACKORDERED PARTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL FOR BEING A RECALL ISSUE. THE ISSUE OF THE SLIPPAGE ONLY HAPPENS WHILE MAKING RIGHT HAND TURNS AND NEVER WHEN MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS. THE ONLY WAY TO AVOID THIS ISSUE IS TO ALMOST LITERALLY STOP ON BUSY ROADWAYS TO THEN TURN RIGHT. WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE WILL NOT BE SAFE ON WATER-COVERED ROADWAYS AND AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS CONSIDERING THE UPCOMING INCLEMENT WEATHER WE ARE EXPECTING AS A RESULT OF THE HURRICANE, BUT YET IT IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK.
ASIDE FROM THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDOWS ACTUATORS FAILING (6 TIMES) AS MENTIONED IN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE; ESIM VALVE REPLACEMENT DUE TO A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON; A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REBUILD (AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES); SUNROOF FAILURE; BACK TAILGATE DOOR FAILING TO UNLOCK OR OPEN; GAS SPILLAGE PROBLEM WHEN FILLING UP AND THE HITCH RECALL, I AM NOW HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAILING. I'VE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE ONE ON PASSENGER DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER. NOW THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK HAS ALSO FAILED. THIS WAS DISCOVERED AFTER A SOMEBODY RIFLED THROUGH THE ITEMS IN THE CAR. NOTHING WAS STOLEN BUT I WAS SURE I LOCKED IT. SURE ENOUGH WHEN I TESTED THE LOCKS, THE DOOR DID NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK USING THE KEY FOB, THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON ON THE INSIDE OR THE AUTO LOCK FEATURE WHEN GOING OVER 15MPH.. ALL THE OTHER DOORS WORKING AT THIS TIME. BUT WHO KNOWS WHEN I'LL HAVE TO HAVE THE OTHER 2 DOORS FIXED. FIRST DOOR FAILURE DATE IS IN THE "WHEN DIS THIS HAPPEN" SECTION.
THE AC BEGAN BLOWING HOT ASSUMING IT JUST NEEDED SERVICE TOOK TO MY MECHANIC, HE SAID THE AC LIGHT ON THE BUTTON ON THE DASH WAS ALSO NOT WORKING BUT FREON PRESSURE WAS FINE, TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IT NEEDS HVAC CONTROL THAT IT HAD GONE OUT CAUSED CLUTCH TO SEIZE AND THEN CAUSED COMPRESSOR TO HAVE A SMALL FIRE. THEY ARE RECOMMENDING REPLACEMENT OF BOTH AT 463 FOR HVAC CONTROL HEAD AND AC COMPRESSOR AT 738 FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF APPROX. 1200 FOR REPAIRS. THIS HVAC SYSTEM HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CATCH FIRE IN THE PASSENGER AREA AND HAS BEEN RECALLED BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT MY VEHICLE VIN DOES NOT MATCH THE ONES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS VEHICLE FIRE AND THIS IS MY FAMILY VEHICLE THAT MY 20YR OLD AND 10 YEAR OLD SON OFTEN RIDE IN.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE DEALER REFUSED TO REMEDY THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
AUTO MADE LOUD NOISES AND STOPPED RUNNING. WOULD NOT START. HAD TOWED TO JEEP DEALER WHO HAD IT FOR 3 MONTHS AND THEY MADE SURE THAT THE TIMING WAS FINE. REPLACED CAM AND CRANK SENSOR. STILL WOULDN'T START. THEY FINALLY CALLED US TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED BACK TO OUR HOME BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THEM IT WAS PROBABLY THE TIPM AND WIRING HARNESS. THEY TOLD US THE COST FOR THE PART AND TO INSTALL IT (WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WOULD FIX THE CAR) WAS $2,300 WHICH WE DON'T HAVE SO WE HAVE A VEHICLE THAT WE CAN'T EVEN START.
I'VE BEEN AWARE OF AN ISSUE WITH MY FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW BUT TODAY, I MADE A RIGHT TURN TODAY AND THE BALL JOINT BROKE ALTOGETHER. I'VE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH WHEN IT COMES RECALLS OF THIS NATURE AND I KNOW 2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S HAVE/HAD A RECALL IN PLACE FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. I'M WONDERING IF THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE 2007 MODEL YEAR AS WELL?

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED, TROUBLE CODE FOR EVAP SYSTEM LEAK. I HAVE PURCHASED 9 GAS CAPS, INCLUDING MOST FROM THE DEALER. SMOKE TEST HAS BEEN PERFORMED, CANNOT LOCATE PROBLEM. ALSO, INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING.
I PURCHASED A CAR FROM U.S. AUTO SALES IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA ON JUNE 12TH 2015. THE EVENING I TOOK THE CAR HOME THE GAS GAUGE WAS NOT AT THE EMPTY MARK AND THE CAR SHUT OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND INFORMED THEM OF THIS AND THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT IT IS AN ONGOING CHRYSLER ISSUE AND TO NOT LET THE GAS TANK TO GET BELOW A QUARTER TANK. THEY PROCEEDED TO RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. 2 WEEKS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. SO I TOOK TO A LOCAL AUTO STORE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS RUN AND WAS INFORMED THAT A WHEEL BEARING WAS NEEDED, A CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND A FUEL LINE BECAUSE AT A CERTAIN LEVEL THE GAS WILL NOT REACH THE ENGINE. TODAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA THE TEMPERATURE IS WELL OVER 100 DEGREES AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE HAD MORE ISSUES OUT OF THIS CAR WITHIN THE 30 DAYS I HAVE HAD IT. I DID PURCHASE A WARRANTY ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BEAR SOME OF THE COST TO FIX A VEHICLE I JUST PURCHASED. I AM NOW WAITING ON A CALL FROM THEIR MECHANIC ONCE HE GETS THE PARTS IN TO DO THE REPAIRS. I BELIEVE I WAS KNOWINGLY SOLD A LEMON. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IF I HAD ANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR TO BRING IT IN AND I WILL BE GIVEN A LOANER CAR. WELL WHEN I DID BRING IT IN I WAS BASICALLY TOLD TO GET IN LINE AND WAIT BECAUSE THEY HAD NO LOANER VEHICLES. NOW I AM BASICALLY STUCK WITH A VEHICLE WITH NO AIR AND IF THE GAS GET PAST A HALF TANK THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF AND IF NOT REPAIRED SOON COULD POTENTIALLY BLOW UP WITH ME AND MY CHILDREN IN IT. YES I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER TO REQUEST ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WAS BASICALLY BRUSHED OFF AND TOLD NO.
