THERE WAS A NOISE, LIKE GRINDING WHEN I WENT TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY, FROM THE REAR OF THE JEEP AND WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THE TECH FOUND THE REAR FLOOR HEAT SHIELD HAD COME LOSSE AND WAS RUBBING ON THE DRIVESHAFT. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $474.20 TO FIX IT ON 3/9/2015. I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY, 11/2/2015, THERE WAS A RECALL ON OTHER 2008 JEEP LIBERTYS (MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL) BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN! WHY WASN'T MY JEEP PART OF THE RECALL? ARE THERE OTHER OWNERS LIKE ME, WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE BUT WEREN'T CONSIDERED PART OF THE RECALL? I THINK WE SHOULD BE! PLEASE ADVISE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS SWAYING BACK AND FORTH AND THEN THE TPMS WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. UPON MERGING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WENT FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE CORE FRACTURED CAUSING A BLOW OUT OF THE BACK OF THE TIRE. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE VALVE STEMS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, THERE IS ALWAYS A MODERATE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT COMES OUT AND GOES DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT STATIONS WITH ALL OCTANE LEVELS OF GAS. IT EJECTS ABOUT .1-.2 GALLONS OF GAS FROM THE FUEL ENTRANCE. THIS OCCURS RIGHT BEFORE THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF CLOSES ON THE FUEL PUMP. *TR
WHEN USING MY REMOTE TO UNLOCK MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY, THE HORN STARTS HONKING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS (FRONT AND BACK) TURN ON, THE WINDSHIELD WASHERS (FRONT AND BACK) SHOOT FLUID, THE DOOR LOCKS WON'T OPEN AND THE HEADLIGHTS TURN ON AND OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE ALSO STARTED TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND I'M UNABLE TO TURN THEM BACK ON. *TR
WHEN DRIVERS DOOR WAS OPENED, VEHICLE HORN, WIPERS BOTH FRONT AND REAR ALL BEGAN TO OPERATE AND I WAS UNABLE TO START AND MAINTAIN THE ENGINE RUNNING, IT WAS NECESSARY TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY TERMINAL IN ORDER TO STOP EVERYTHING. A MONTH LATER, I WAS IN TOWN AND IT DID THE SAME THING. IN APRIL WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING AND THE HORN, WIPERS AND LIGHTS ALL BEGAN OPERATING. I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT STOPPED. THE BATTERY HAD TO BE DISCONNECTED IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RUN. THE NEXT AFTERNOON, IT DID IT AGAIN HOWEVER DISCONNECTING AND RECONNECTING THE BATTERY DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO LEAVE THE BATTERY DISCONNECTED ALL NIGHT IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CONSTANT LEAK COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR SEVERAL FAILURES THAT RECURRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRACKING AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE HANDLE SCREWS, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY TO PREVENT THE FAILURE AFTER THE DEALER REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS; THEREFORE, THE LEAK CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
GAS SPILL WHEN FILLING TANK. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES. WE GUESSED IT WAS A BATTERY, STARTER OR ALTERNATOR. HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE TIPM WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW, I SEE THAT I WAS A LUCKY ONE AS THE TIPM HAS ALL MANNER OF ISSUES WHEN IT STARTS TO GO BAD. THE DEALER IS TELLING ME I HAVE TO WAIT 3 WEEKS FOR A BACKORDERED PART DUE TO A NATIONAL RECALL OF OTHER MODEL YEARS. THIS IS GOING TO COST AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT IN BOTH REPAIR AND RENTAL CAR COSTS. *TR
WHILE PUMPING GAS, THE PUMPED CLICKED (STOPPED) AND GAS SPEWED OUT THE TANK ON VEHICLE, MY HANDS, PANTS AND SHOES. THIS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. TODAY, 1-31-2015, GASCAP, INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I TIGHTEN CAP HOWEVER, INDICATOR LIGHT STILL ON. PURCHASED A NEW GAS CAP BUT THE NEW CAP DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ADHESIVE WOULD NOT HOLD THE REAR WINDOW IN PLACE AND WATER LEAKED THROUGH THE WINDOW. IN ADDITION, THE ODOMETER DISPLAYED AN ERROR MESSAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
SOMETIMES THE STARTER WILL CRANK THE ENGINE BUT WILL NOT START, USING THE REMOTE START OR THE KEY. ALSO THE SECURITY ALARM WILL GO OFF WHILE TRYING TO USE THE REMOTE START FROM TIME TO TIME. OTHER LIBERTIES WITH THIS AND OTHER SIMILAR "COMMON" PROBLEMS ARE COVERD BY SERVICE BULLETINS BUT NOT OURS. *JS
TWO CLAIMS FILED PER THIS COMPLAINT. 1) SKY SLIDER LEAK; FAILURE - OVERHAUL/REPLACEMENT REQUIRED DUE TO TRACK/CABLE FAILURE. WAS LEAKING INTO VEHICLE, AS WELL AS LEAKING INTO DOME LIGHT. INSPECTED PER JEEP AUTHORIZED DEALER, CONFIRMED SKY SLIDER NO LONGER PROPERLY SEALING AND HAS FAILED, REQUIRING TOTAL SYSTEM OVERHAUL AND REPLACEMENT. REFERENCING VARIOUS NHTSA DOCUMENTED CLAIMS, IT ALREADY A KNOWN ISSUE AND IN NEED OF RESOLUTION.. I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH REPAIR, WHICH WAS OVER $4000.00 TOTAL. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE HAS SUFFERED A SUBSTANTIAL DROP IN OVERALL RESALE VALUE DUE TO VEHICLES REPUTATION FOR HAVING COSTLY DEFECTS AND OVERLOOKED FOR RECALL AND WARRANTY. DEALER PERFORMED REPAIR AT MY EXPENSE, BUT I AM CURRENTLY REQUESTING THAT THIS CLAIM IS PROPERLY REVIEWED FOR A PROPER, MORE COST-EFFECTIVE SOLUTION TO DEFECTIVE UNIT. 2) VEHICLE SUFFERS FROM TEMPORARY ROUGH IDLE AND SIGNIFICANT DROPS IN RPM'S, NEARLY STALLING ITSELF OUT. ALSO BEGINS SUFFERING FROM INTERMITTENT LOSS OF VEHICLE AND DEVICE RELATED FUNCTIONS SUCH AS LOSS OF HORN FUNCTION, INTERMITTENT OR PARTIAL LIGHTS FUNCTION OR WINDOW OPERATION. ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHILE OPERATING UNDER THE ERRATIC CONDITIONS, THE REAR WINDOW HATCH UNLOCKED ITSELF AS THOUGH THE BUTTON WAS HIT ON MFR. KEY FOB. THESE ISSUE OCCURS RANDOMLY AND TYPICALLY LAST NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES BEFORE NORMAL OPERATION RETURNS. DUE TO LACK OF INFORMATION ON THE CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, WHAT COMPONENTS ARE EFFECTED AND WHAT THE SPECIFIC DEFECT IS CAPABLE OF PERFORMING, IT IS SOMETHING NEEDING TO BE LOOKED INTO FOR PROPER RESOLUTION.
SUNSLIDER ROOF - BROKEN FRAME AND MOTOR AT APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES. WATER DAMAGE. TOLD NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. REPAIR ESTIMATED OVER $3000. GAP IN ROOF WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED OVER 30 MPH. RESEARCH INDICATES KNOWN ISSUE BY JEEP WITH SUBJECTIVE DECISIONS WHETHER OR NOT TO COVER REPAIR AND PRIOR LAWSUIT. *TR
SLIDER ROOF CREATES LOUD WIND NOISE WHEN TRAVELING 45-60 MPH. ALSO ROOF DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY LEAVING GAP ON RIGHT HAND SIDE ALLOWING WATER TO LEAK INTO INTERIOR. *TR
LETTER FROM SENATOR REED ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2008 JEEP LIBERTY SKY SLIDER. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE ROOF WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY FOUR YEARS AGO. NOW, THE CABLES ON THE ROOF NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. *JB
SUNROOF LEAKING BADLY NOTICED A SMALL AMOUNT EARLIER BUT LATELY HAS GOTTEN WORSE. HEADLINER IS STAINED FROM THE LEAK. DRIVERS FLOORBOARD IS WEY FROM LEAK.
GAS SPILLED OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE DURING FILL UP AND RUN DOWN THE REAR QUARTER PANEL AND GROUND. *TR
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED. EACH OF THE TWO TIMES WE HAVE FILLED UP THE TANK WITH GAS THE TANK HAS OVERFLOWED SPILLING AN ESTIMATED PINT OF GAS OUT OF THE TANK AND DOWN THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. EACH TIME GAS HAS SPILLED ONTO THE DRIVER AS WELL. RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE IT APPEARS THAT REPLACING THE GAS TANK RESOLVES THIS ISSUE. HEAT DECIDED TO NOT WORK ON THE FIRST 30 DAY W/ SNOW AND ICE. PASSENGER VENTS ARE BLOWING LUKE WARM AIR, AND THE DRIVERS SIDE BLOWING COLD AIR. ALSO, NO AIR AT ALL COMING FROM THE BLOWER AT THE DRIVERS FEET. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS AS I HAD READ 100'S OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BLEND DOOR NOT OPERATING PROPERLY ON JEEPS OF ALL TYPES. THIS IS A $1000 FIT, AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE BLEND DOOR. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE! *TR
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY AFTER CAR IS STARTED. SPOKE TO CHRYSLER/JEEP AFTER CONSULTATION WITH LOCAL MECHANIC WHO IDENTIFIED THE ISSUE AS A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. THIS SAME ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED WITH CHRYSLER/JEEP WITH JEEP WRANGLER 2008 - 2010 WHICH USES THE SAME CLOCK SPRING (REFERENCE : NVS-212PCOR;PE11-019-AUGUST 5-2011) RESULTING IN EXTENSION OF WARRANTY TO 3 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES. JEEP REQUESTS A FEE OF 500.00 + DOLLARS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE STATING THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY ON JEEP LIBERTY 2008 EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PART IS BEING USED IN EACH VEHICLE NOR WILL JEEP DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE UNLESS GUARANTEE DIAGNOSTIC FEE OF 120.00 DOLLARS. THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED TO ENGAGE ON MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHILE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS FULLY ENGAGED WITH THE JEEP IN NEUTRAL THE JEEP ROLLED BACKWARD AND STRUCK THE WALL CAUSING MINOR RIGHT FRONT FENDER DAMAGE. FORTUNATELY THE JEEP HIT THE WALL STOPPING IT FROM ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY INTO TRAFFIC OR RUNNING OVER PEDESTRIANS. NOTE; THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2008 JEEP LIBERTY, CHRYSLER RECALL #H28 WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUT NOT ON THE AUTOMATIC WHICH USES THE EXACT SAME PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE? EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM SHOULD BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED IT AND IF THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM SHOULD FAIL. PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, THE SKY SLIDER LEAKED WATER INTO THE ELECTRICAL ROOF LIGHT COMPACTS DROPPING DOWN INTO GEAR SHIFT. ALSO LEAKED INTO TRUNK AND BACK SEAT OF JEEP FROM CEILING. EVEN AFTER REPAIRED BY DEALERSHIP TWICE, IT CONTINUED TO LEAK WATER DURING AND AFTER RAIN. THE AUTOMATIC DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SINCE LEAKING ISSUES, HAS SHORTED AND FAILED TO CLOSE (GO UP) ON A DAILY BASIS. DEEP FRONT END COLLISION HAD ZERO DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG IN FRONT- INCLUDES DURING/AFTER PASSENGER SIDE ROLLOVER. ONLY SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONCUSSION AND MUSCLE SPASMS RESULTED FROM ACCIDENT. BODY HIT AGAINST STEERING COLUMN, HEAD AND ARM AGAINST DRIVER WINDOW AND FRAME. ENTIRE WEEK OF UNPAID MEDICAL LEAVE FROM EMPLOYER BY DOCTORS ORDER. TOTAL LOSS OF JEEP. SEATBELT HELD ME IN SUSPENSE WHILE JEEP WAS ON IT'S SIDE. ALTHOUGH IT LEFT ME WITH PAINS IN HIPS, ABDOMEN AND LEGS, THE SEATBELT SAVED ME FROM ENDING UP IN THE WINDOW AND GLASS IN MY SKIN FROM THE ROLLOVER WINDOW GLASS BREAKAGE. FEELS LIKE JEEP INITIATED ROLLOVER UPON FRONT IMPACT AFTER HAVING BEEN STOPPED COMPLETELY. ..UPDATED 11/18/14 *BF UPDATED 10/7/2015*JS

BAD CLOCK SPRING LOCATED IN STEERING COLUMN, EFFECTS MANY THINGS INCLUDING AIRBAG. EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE AND HAVE FOUND IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. *TR
IT STARTED A WITH WHEN I GOT OUT OF JEEP AND PUSH BUTTON TO LOCK THE VEHICLE IT WOULDN'T LOCK AND THE HORN WOULD NOT BEEP LIKE IT DOES WHEN IT LOCKS SO I HAD TO LOCK IT MANUALLY. WHEN I GOT OUT OF STORE AND GOT BACK INTO JEEP IT WORKED AND IT ONLY HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR HAS WARMED UP IS WHAT IT SEEMS LIKE, THEN I WAS PULLING INTO A TURNING LANE AND SLOWING DOWN AND HEARD A HORN BEEP LOUD JUST TO REALIZE THAT IT WAS MY JEEP THAT BEEPED AND I NEVER PRESSED THE HORN AT ALL. THEN TODAY I GET INTO CAR AND SIT IN SEAT AND USE THE POWER SEAT BUTTON TO ADJUST THE DRIVER SEAT AND DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH THE STEERING WHEEL AND DIDN'T PUT THE KEY IN IGNITION EITHER AND MY FLASHERS STARTED FLASHING BUT, THEN CUT RIGHT OFF. WHEN I GOT WHERE I WAS GOING AND PARKED MY JEEP IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE FLASHERS STARTED TO FLASH AND THEN STOPPED. WHEN I WALKED UP TO THE JEEP WITHOUT PRESSING ANY BUTTONS MY CAR UNLOCKED ON ITS OWN AND THE LIGHTS CAME ON. SOMETIMES MY RADIO TAKES ABOUT 10 SECONDS OR SO BEFORE IT STARTS TO WORK. WINDSHIELD WIPER DOESN'T WANT TO BLOW OUT ANY FLUID SAYS IT NEEDS A MOTOR. HAVE A SLIDER ROOF AND NOTICED THAT IT HAS LEAKED PREVIOUSLY CAUSE I CAN SEE RAIN MARKS AROUND THE EDGES OF THE SLIDER AND WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I CAN HEAR WIND FROM COMING THE ROOF SO ITS NOT SEALING LIKE IT SHOULD. I CAN HAVE THE HEAT ON BUT, LATER IN THE DAY WHEN IT GETS HOT I WILL TURN ON THE AC AND THE AC DOESN'T WANT TO BLOW OUT COLD AIR AND I FIDDLE WITH THE SWITCHES FOR A BIT, I CAN FINALLY GET IT TO COME ON. I JUST BOUGHT IT LAST JANUARY SO I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD IT A YEAR YET AND ALWAYS TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICING PLEASE HELP ME I HAVE SEEN RECALLS FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE SAME JEEP BUT, YOUR SITE TELLS ME NO OPEN RECALLS SO HOW DO I KNOW IF MINE HAS BEEN REPAIRED? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, SMOKE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CALIPER SEIZED. THE CALIPER WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE LATER EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE INVOLVING THE BRAKE CALIPERS ON BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN THE SLIDING SKY ROOF THE STICKY (TAPE) PART BECAME UNSTUCK FROM THE SLIDING SKY ROOF AND STUCK TO THE CAR'S FRAME THAT CAUSED THE SLIDING SKY ROOF TO BREAK OFF THE TRACK PREVENTING IT FROM OPENING AND/OR CLOSING. IF DRIVEN NOW IT WILL BLOW OFF AND BE HAZARDOUS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LEAKAGE THAT CAME FROM THE SKY SLIDER SUN ROOF. THE SUN ROOF WOULD NOT CLOSE AND VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THERE HAS BEEN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOLLOWED BY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT (USUALLY AFTER MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN.) WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND WENT TO JEEP. THEY HAD OUR LIBERTY FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND SWAPPED OUT THE CAM AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS TO "FIX" THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR AGAIN WAS ACTING UP WITHIN A MONTH OR SO, AND WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALER BACK TO BRING IT BACK IN THEY ADVISED US THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WE PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR WAS NOW EXPIRED. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THE CODES READ. IT WAS AGAIN CODE C121C, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CODES RELATING TO FAULTY CAM AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS. SINCE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THEY REPLACED THE CAM AND CRANKSHAFT SENSORS. I REPLACED THE NEEDED PARTS AND THIS LASTED MAYBE 20 MILES, PRIOR TO THE LIGHTS COMING BACK ON. I ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THEM A SECOND TIME THINKING I MAY HAVE GOTTEN A DEFECTIVE PART OR TWO, BUT IT WOUND UP BEING THE SAME END RESULT; ABOUT 10-20 MILES IN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. THIS PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM SHIFTING INTO OVER DRIVE, IT PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING AT A NORMAL SPEED, AND ABOVE 50 MPH THE WHOLE VEHICLE WILL WILDLY SHUTTER WHEN YOU LET YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS. JEEP WILL NOT WARRANTY THE DRIVE TERRAIN EVEN THOUGH THE STATE THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE A 100K MILE WARRANTY ON THE DRIVE TERRAIN. *TR
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM A LOCAL USED DEALER, I NEVER ANTICIPATED THE PROBLEMS I WOULD BE FACED WITH. I HAVE ALWAYS DREAMED OF OWNING A JEEP AND NOW, I'M READY TO TAKE IT TO THE DUMP. I PURCHASED THIS KEEP ON THE ABOVE DATE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SKY SLIDER DOES NOT WORK. THE DEALER CREATED A CONTRACT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE IT FIXED. 2 MONTHS LATER, THEY FINALLY FIND SOMEONE IN THE AREA WHO KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE TAKE IT IN, AND FIND THAT THE WHOLE ROOF HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP FINALLY AGREED TO PAY FOR IT AFTER A MONTH OF ME BEING OUT A VEHICLE. THIS REPAIR COST THE DEALERSHIP AN UPWARDS OF $4,500.00 AND I AM STILL EXPERIENCING WIND NOISE. IF I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AND A SEMI GOES BY, THE SKY SLIDER LIFTS UP AS IF IT'S GOING TO FLY OFF. I WILL NEVER OPEN THE SKY SLIDER FOR FEAR THAT IT WILL NEED TO BE FIXED AGAIN (OR GET STUCK OPEN). I HAVE SEEN MANY PEOPLE PRESENTING THIS SAME ISSUE ON FORUMS WITH NOTHING BEING SOLVED. PLEASE, IT'S TIME CHRYSLER OWNS UP TO THIS FAULTY DESIGN AND HELPS PEOPLE OUT! I AM SO SCARED THAT THIS ROOF IS GOING TO FLY OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. RECENTLY THE BATTERY DIED IN MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. I CHANGED THE BATTERY AND WHEN I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE AND ERROR MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED IN THE ODOMETER WINDOW. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. *TR
THE SKY SLIDER ROOF STOPPED IN THE OPEN POSITION AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE COST TO FIX IS $4,000. DUE TO IT BEING STUCK OPEN THERE IS NOW WATER DAMAGE ALL AROUND THE TOP OF THE JEEP ROOF. *TR
THE DAY, JULY 10, 2014, STARTED OUT WITH MY WIFE, GRANDDAUGHTER AND ME GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE IN MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. WE WERE BACK BY NOON, HAD SOME LUNCH AND ABOUT 1:30PM PUT GRANDDAUGHTER DOWN FOR A NAP. ABOUT 2:00PM WIFE NEEDED TO GO INTO TOWN FOR AN ERRAND. SHE BACKED THE JEEP OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND CONTINUED DOWN THE ROAD GOING ABOUT 15 MPH. THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BLOWS (4 TIRES ON THE VEHICLE BOUGHT APPROX. 14 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT - GOODYEAR P225/75R16 WRANGLER ST 104S) AND THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. VEHICLE DID NOT HIT ANYTHING NOR WAS IT HIT BY ANYTHING. WIFE DID SUSTAIN A SLIGHT RED BRUISE ON HER LEFT CHEEK. GOOD THING IT DID NOT HAPPEN WITH ALL OF US IN THE VEHICLE OR GOING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. CHRYSLER GROUP LLC CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE INCIDENT AND INSPECTED THE JEEP. THE INSPECTION FOUND NO INDICATION OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT CAUSED OR CONTRIBUTED TO THE INCIDENT. HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A FRONT TIRE BLOWS AND SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT 15 MPH. JEEP IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RUGGED OFF-ROAD VEHICLE. *TR
CHEMICAL BURN DUE TO FUEL JETTING OUT OF THE FILL HOLE AND SPILLING ON THE OPERATOR DURING REFUELING. IT HAPPENS OFTEN IF THE OPERATOR IS NOT OVERLY CAUTIOUS. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS AT FILL UP. ALWAYS AT COSTCO AND MANY OTHER STATIONS. ATTENDANTS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO PUMP FOR ME AND HAD SAME RESULTS STATING THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR JEEPS. *TR
WHILE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND TRAVELING AT 40 MPH, THE KEY IN THE IGNITION DISENGAGED FROM THE 'ON' POSITION TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING, ETC. DRIVER HAD TO COAST THE DEAD VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. *TR

FIRST NOTICED LAST WEEK 11/08/2015 (ONLY AS LONG AS THE PRESET TIME ON THE RADIO SHUT OFF OR THE DOOR IS OPENED) 2. WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AND GOING UP HILL, TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS TO MAINTAIN SPEED. WHILE TRYING TO KEEP SPEED UP AND THEN BREAK APPLIED, EXCESSIVE FORCE IS REQUIRED TO DIS-ENGAGE CRUISE CONTROL. WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS. FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. (BREAK SWITCH HAS BEEN CHANGED TWICE) 3. POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO HOSES ON EMISSIONS CANISTER IN LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL DUE TO GAS SPILLAGE? (NEED TO MANUALLY TURN OFF, CHANGED GAS CAP TWICE) 6. IT SEEMS THAT ALL THINGS ELECTRICAL HAVE A DELAY TO THEIR FUNCTION, FLASHING HIGH BEAMS, HONKING HORN... WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING. FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER. (ALL OF THE TIME)
GOT OUT MY TRUCK AT WALMART AND THE DOORS AUTOMATIC LOCKED WHEN I CLOSED THE DRIVER DOOR THE LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THE LOCKS STARTED LOCKING AND UN LOCKING. THAT WAS ON JUNE 3,2014. OUR JEEP GOES TO DEALER EVERY 3000 MILES FOR OIL & FILTER CHANGE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT NEW. THIS YEAR I NOTICED THE BATTERY TERMINALS HAD NEVER BEEN CLEANED. I REMOVED THE TERMINALS AS I HAVE DONE ON HUNDREDS OF CARS (AS MY BOTHER AND I HAD SERVICE/ GAS STATIONS FOR YEARS) AS A NO CHARGE COURTESY. NOW I KNOW WHY THEY NEVER DID THE CLEANING. MY CAR BATTERY DIED. AFTER REPLACING BATTERY I HAVE AN ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED ACROSS THE ODOMETER. I HAVE TRIED RESETTING THE PANEL.
