TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SKY SLIDER WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED BUT WOULD NOT CLOSE WHEN ACTIVATED. THE FAILURE CAUSED WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AND CAUSE DAMAGE INTERNALLY WHEN THERE WAS RAINY WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUSE BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE SKYSLIDER ROOF ON THE JEEP LIBERTY DOES NOT STAY CLOSED WHILE DRIVING. IT LIFTS LOOSE FROM THE TRACK WHILE CLOSED AND TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH. I AM ABLE TO SEE THE OUTSIDE THROUGH THE GAP IT CREATES AND FEAR THAT IT WILL LIFT OPEN FROM THE CAR. I HAVE READ OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS WHERE THE ROOF DID INDEED FALL OFF AT HIGH SPEEDS. I FEAR THAT MINE WILL TOO. *TR
THE RETRACTABLE SKY ROOF CAME LOOSE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH (IT WAS RAINING AND RAIN CAME INTO THE CAB) THE ROOF WILL NOT WORK NOW AND IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE UNUSABLE. DEALER SAYS WILL COST APPROX $3000 TO REPAIR. *TR
FEBRUARY 2014: OPENED MY CAR WITH THE KEY WHEN THE FOB WOULDN'T WORK. HORN AND RADIO BLARED, BOTH FRONT AND REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON, IN ADDITION TO ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS. CONTINUED FOR 10 MINUTES UNTIL BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. IN THAT TIME, THE CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER 5 MINUTES, THE BATTERY WAS RECONNECTED AND THE CAR STARTED WITHOUT ISSUE. APRIL 2014: WHILE TURNING INTO A GAS STATION, MY JEEP COMPLETELY STOPPED. AFTER WAITING 2 MINUTES IT STARTED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CLEANED CORROSION AROUND THE BATTERY. 2 WEEKS LATER, I WAS DRIVING ON A 3 LANE HIGHWAY, BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND AT APPROXIMATELY 25MPH, THE JEEP'S ENGINE TURNED OFF. AT THE SAME TIME, ALL OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS TURNED ON IN ADDITION TO THE HORN AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT INCIDENT, WHERE THE JEEP CONTINUED THE SAME BEHAVIOR FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, AND THEN ABRUPTLY STOPPED. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN UNTIL THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED AND THEN RECONNECTED. I BROUGHT IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALER THAT EVENING AND DETAILED THE ISSUES. THEY MONITORED IT FOR 3 DAYS, BUT ULTIMATELY RETURNED THE CAR STATING THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES BUT COULD REPLACE MODULE FOR ALMOST $1000! MAY 2014: REPLACED THE BATTERY AND HAD MINIMAL ISSUES INCLUDING WINDSHIELD WIPERS RANDOMLY STARTING AND STOPPING, BUT NO HORN OR SHUT DOWN ISSUES, UNTIL... JUNE 2014: A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED THAT MIRRORED THE APRIL DECELERATION INCIDENT. AT THIS POINT I DISCONNECTED MY HORN--A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT THE BLARING WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY INCONVENIENT. A WEEK LATER THE CAR TURNED OFF WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE. WHEN I EXITED THE THE STORE AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE CAR, IT STARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT. SINCE JUNE, THE JEEP HAS ONLY EXHIBITED MINOR ISSUES SUCH AS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS RANDOMLY STARTING, BUT IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. *TR
VEHICLE WILL LOOSE POWER WHILE AT HWY SPEED. AS IF SLAMMING ON BRAKES DASH LIGHTS LIGHT UP AS YOUR SEATBELT LOCKS AND YOU SLAM FORWARD. HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN OFF WHILE INSIDE DASH LIGHTS REMAIN ON. MUST USE BRIGHTS TO DRIVE OR PULL OVER. WINDOWS, SEATS MOVE THEMSELVES. WHILE VEHICLE IS OFF AND UNATTENDED. SOMETIMES WHILE PULLING IN A PARKING SPOT CAR LUNGES FORWARD. SOMETIMES WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT IT JUST POWERS OFF AND MUST BE RESTARTED. EVIDENCE OF A LEAK SOMEWHERE CAN NOT BE LOCATED. THE LEAK HAS STAINED A LITTLE ON THE INSIDE ROOF. *TR

JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE. WHEN TAKING YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL, AUTO ALMOST CAME TO A STOP. WENT STRAIGHT TO REPAIR SHOP. CALIPER ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ON REAR PASSENGER SIDE. SECOND CALIPER MALFUNCTIONED ON JUNE 30, 2014. PARTS HAVE BEEN BACK ORDERED SINCE JULY 1, 2014. CHRYSLER IS PRODUCING BAD PARTS AND ALTHOUGH NO ACCIDENTS ARE REPORTED YET, THEY WILL BE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. WEBB SITE HAS 100'S OF PEOPLE WITH SAME PROBLEM THAT RE-OCCURS WITHIN A SHORT TIME. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS FOR ALL JEEP OWNERS. *TR
1, ALL LIGHTS COME ON DASH; CHECK ENGINE, 4WD, BRAKE, ABS - ALL OF THEM, EACH TIME I HAVE IT CHECKED BUT THE CODES WILL NOT REGISTER STATING NOT FOUND 2. ROOF LEAKS AT BACK OF CARGO AREA WITH HEAVY RAIN OR WHEN VEHICLE GETS WASHED 3,WHEN ADDING FUEL, DOESNT AUTOMATICALLY STOP AND GAS SPEWS OUT ALL OVER 4. LOCKS WILL RANDOMLY LOCK AND UNLOCK. 5. RADIO WILL STOP AND START
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2008 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED EDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE CEILING ABOVE THE DOME LIGHT AREA. ADDITIONALLY, WATER WOULD LEAK INTO THE TRUNK. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHENEVER IT WOULD RAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
I BOUGHT THE JEEP MARCH OF 2014. UPON PURCHASE THERE SEEMED TO BE AN ODD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. I WAS ASSURED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY OVERSIZED TIRES. THE TIRES WERE DIFFERENT FROM THE STANDARD FACTORY BUT NOTHING THAT SHOULD CAUSE THAT NOISE WHILE DRIVING. I ASKED IF I COULD HAVE MY MECHANIC LOOK AT AND CALL THEM FOR THE REPAIR. THEY AGREED. I CALLED A FEW DAYS LATER AFTER FINDING THAT THE FRONT END HAD SOME ISSUES AS WELL AS THE HORN AND OTHER ELECTRICAL THINGS DIDN'T WORK. I WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY VIOLATION. THEY FIXED IT ALL AT NO COST TO ME. ONE YEAR LATER THE HORN AND BUTTONS STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. I WENT IN AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND ASKED FOR THE WRITE UP FROM LAST TIME. THE WRITE UP STATED THAT THEY REPAIRED THE TIPM MODULE WELL ENOUGH TO GET IT TO FUNCTION BUT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS. I ASKED THEM WHAT COULD BE DONE SINCE THEY DIDN'T REALLY FIX IT THE FIRST TIME. WE CAME TO THE AGREEMENT THAT I WOULD PAY FOR LABOR AND THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PART. SEPTEMBER 2015, WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY I WENT TO HONK MY HORN ONLY TO FIND IT WASN'T WORKING. IT WORKED JUST A FEW HOURS PRIOR. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND EXPLAINED WHAT WAS GOING ON. HE TOLD ME THAT IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TIPM MODULE AGAIN, AND THAT THEY WOULD WARRANTY THE PART AND FIX IT. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS THEN TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO DIAGNOSE AND MAKE SURE THAT IT WAS THE TIPM MODULE. I WOULD NEED TO PAY A DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND THEN PAY FOR THE FIX IF IT WASN'T THAT PART. IT ENDED UP NOT BEING THE TIPM MODULE AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS GOING TO BE A MINIMUM OF 300 DOLLARS IN LABOR, PLUS THE 100 DIAGNOSTIC FEE FOR TODAY, AND WHATEVER PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOLD THEM THAT I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIPM MODULE AND THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO PAY THAT MUCH AND FELT COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF.
LAST FEBRUARY MY JEEP STARTED ACTING FUNNY. THE HORN, WIPERS, FLUID, RAIDO, SEAT, AND LIGHTS ALL WENT CRAZY WHILE DRIVING. THINKING THAT IT WAS A BATTERY OR SPARK PLUG ISSUE I REPLACED BOTH. NO LUCK. THE NEXT DAY I STATED MY CAR ABS THE HORN WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND HAD IT TOWED FOR DIAGNOSIS. TIPM GOOD I WAS TOLD. 2 DAYS LATER SAME THING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER MECHANIC BUT THIS TIME ASKED TO SEE THE SCHEMATICS. THERE IS ONLY ONE COMMON COMPONENT THE TIPM. NO ENGINE ISSUES FOUND, TIPM TESTED FOR A WEEK, NO RESULTS. GOT MY CAR BACK AND ONE WEEK LATER RECORDED THE CAR DOING EXACTLY WHAT I HAD STATED. THIS SYSTEM ONLY HAS 1 CHECK WITH RESULTS EITHER GOOD OR BAD. I LOOKED UP RECALLS-NONE, CALLED JEEP AND COMPLAINED ABOUT HOW DANGEROUS THIS IS. I'M NOT INCREDIBLY TALL SO FOR MY SEAT TO MOVE ITSELF BACKWARDS WHILE DRIVING WAS SCAREY! I ENDED UP GOING TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP CONVINCED THIS WAS THE ISSUE AND HAD THE BOX REPLACED AND SYSTEM RESET. ONE YR LATER STILL NO ISSUES. I STILL HAVE THE VIDEOS AS PROOF OF THIS CLAIM. PLEASE REALIZE ALL TIMES THIS HAPPENED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HORN GOING OFF, BATTERY DISCONNECTED, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY GOING INTO STREET TRAFFIC. ONLY ONCE WAS THE WEATHER INCREDIBLY BAD; RAINING TO THE POINT OF FLOODING. BECAUSE I LIVE IN UPSTATE NY THERE WAS ALSO SNOW AND ICE PRESENT. DUE TO MY VEHICLE ACTING UP, I CHOSE NOT TO TAKE MY NIECE'S OVER THE WEEKEND AS I TYPICALLY DID. BEING RESPONSIBLE I COULDN'T LET SOMETHING HAPPEN WITH A THEN 4 YEAR OLD IN MY CAR.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE AND STRUCTURE) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE NOTICE SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD BE PERFORMED. THERE ARE NO FAILURES AT THIS TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 56 MPH HE ACTIVATED THE REAR DEFROSTER AND SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A LOUD BANGING SOUND AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR GLASS SHATTERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
THE VEHICLE'S LIGHTS, HORN, WIPERS, RADIO WILL START FLASHING INEXPLICABLY. WHEN TURNING OFF THE MOTOR IT CONTINUES. 2-3 TIMES THE MOTOR CUT OUT TOO. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 8-10 TIMES A YEAR.
THE 2008 JEEP AND YEARS AFTER ALL HAVE A DEFECTIVE SKYSLIDER(AS FAR AS I KNOW EVERY SINGLE PERSON I SPOKE WITH THAT HAS A SKY SLIDER HAD SOME MALFUNCTION) WHICH SEEMS TO BE A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. THIS PANORAMIC ROOF CONSTANTLY MALFUNCTIONS, THE REPLACEMENT PARTS COST ALMOST A 1/4 OF THE VEHICLE COST AND WHEN IT BREAKS IT USUALLY IS NOT FIXED PROPERLY. THE CONCERN IS, IT CAN COME FLYING OFF AT HIGH SPEEDS CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY, ALSO MAKES VEHICLE UN-SECURE DUE TO BEING ACCESSIBLY BY THE ROOF, ALSO CAUSES RAIN, AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS TO ENTER THE CABIN AREA. I UNDERSTAND THAT CHRYSLER IS UNDER GOVERNMENT PROTECTION DUE TO IT FINANCIAL SITUATION BUT THERE IS NO REASON THEY CAN NOT RECALL, REPAIR, OR HAVE A ENGINEERED REPLACEMENT FOR THIS DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES IT HAS. *TR
THE SKYWAY SLIDER WILL NOT CLOSE FULLY, THE ROAD NOISE IS SO LOUD IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONCENTRATE ON DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
MY AIR COMPRESSOR STARTED MAKING A TERRIBLE SCREECHING NOISE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR IN JEEPS DO NOT LAST AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECTIFIED? ALSO, MY TRACTION AND ABS LIGHTS COME ON AND CAUSE ME TO BE UNABLE TO STOP WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKES. THIS IS NOT FROM NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF DRIVING A CAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
REPLACED DRIVER SIDE DOOR KEY LOCK, HAD TO REMOVE INNER DOOR PNL, (DISCONNECTED BATTERY), AFTER JOB WAS COMPLETE AND STARTED FOR FIRST TIME, NOTICED THAT THE (DIGITAL) DASHBOARD ODOMETER INSTEAD OF SHOWING MILEAGE INDICATED THE WORD "ERROR". INVESTIGATED ON INTERNET AND DISCOVERED MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING SAME "ERROR" MESSAGE APPEAR ON ODOMETER AFTER DISCONNECTING BATTERY. *JS
VEHICLE WAS MAKING A WHINING NOISE WHEN TURNING. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THIS CAR IS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID ONTO THE RACK AND PINION. ALONG WITH THIS, THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS COMING ON. I BELIEVE THAT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO THE LATEST RECALL CONCERNING THE HEAT SHIELD. JEEP REFUSES TO ADD MY CAR TO THE RECALL LIST AND I AM SURE THIS IS DIRECTLY RELATED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE RETRACTABLE SKY SLIDER FRACTURED OFF WHILE THE SKY SLIDER WAS CLOSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE ENTIRE TRACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE SKY LINE SLIDER REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE UNIT REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY 9 YEAR OLD GRANDSON IN THE JEEP. IT IS ALWAYS SOUNDS VERY WINDY IN THE TRUCK WHEN DRIVING. I WAS GOING ABOUT 25 MILES AN HOUR AND THE FRONT OF THE TOP FLEW BACK. IT SCARED THE HECK OUT OF US. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND WHEN I TRIED TO SHUT THE SKY RIDER/RETRACTABLE TOP IT WOULD NOT GO. SO I PULLED IT FRONTWARDS WITH MY HANDS AND DROVE VERY SLOW TO MY DAUGHTERS. MY SON IN LAW AND MY DAUGHTER WERE LOOKING AT IT AND WE COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK. SO WE PUT A BUGGY CORD AROUND IT TO HOLD IT DOWN UNTIL I COULD HAVE TO A PLACE THAT COULD FIX IT.. I WENT TO SEE HIM AT 8 AM THE NEXT MORNING AND HE SAID HE HAS 2 OF THEM IN HIS SHOP RIGHT NOW AND HE ALSO SAID HE HAS MANY OF THEM IN HIS SHOP EVERY WEEK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT. CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THESE JEEPS THAT HAVE THE RETRACTABLE TOPS/ SKY RIDER . I ALSO WENT ON LINE AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS IN REGARDS TO THESE TOPS DOING THE SAME THING. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COST $2,100.00 DOLLARS TO FIX. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE RACK.I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD USE PLASTIC PARTS FOR SUCH A IMPORTANT THING ON YOUR CAR IS A ROOF. HE TOLD ME TO CALL CHRYSLER.. WELL I CALLED AND SPOKE TO A SUPERVISOR MACK KELLY AT MASSEY YARDLEY HE SAID THE WARRANTY IS UP. WE WENT BACK AND FOURTH ABOUT THE TOP AND I SAID TO HIM, BUT YOU KNOW THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM SO WHY WOULD YOU NOT FIX IT? HE SAID, "YUP IT IS A BIG PROBLEM "BUT THE WARRANTY IS UP. I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE HIRE UP AND HE SAID THERE IS NO ONE ELSE HIRE THEN HIM. THE SKY SLIDER ROOF ON MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY BEGAN TO OPEN DUE TO THE WIND FLOW AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I PULLED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY TO ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE ROOF. I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE ROOF AS IT APPEARED TO BE OFF ITS' TRACKS. I TOOK SURFACE ROADS HOME AS I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE ROOF'S STABILITY AT HIGH SPEEDS. ONCE HOME WE WERE ABLE TO CLOSE THE ROOF MOST OF THE WAY MANUALLY. I RESEACHED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND MULTIPLE CASES OF THIS ROOF FAILING. IN SOME CASES THE ROOF ACTUALLY FLEW OFF AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN GIVE ME IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. WHILE FILLING UP MY 2008 JEEP LIBERTY AFTER THE GAS SHUTS OFF AT THE PUMP THERE IS GAS OVER FLOW FROM THE TANK ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND THE GROUND BELOW. I DO NOT OVER FILL MY GAS TANK AND I EVEN TRY TO STOP BEFORE THE TANK IS COMPLETELY FULL, YET THERE IS GAS THAT FLOWS BACK OUT OF THE TANK AFTER FILLING UP MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A CONTINUAL ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN I FILL IT UP AND I FILL UP AT LEAST 2 TIMES A WEEK DUE TO THE LONG COMMUTE THAT I HAVE. I FIND THAT THIS IS A HAZARD BECAUSE I PUT MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE USING THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND THE GASOLINE THAT HAS SPILLED IS USUALLY STILL PRESENT NO MATTER HOW CAREFULLY I TRY TO CLEAN IT UP AND OFF OF THE VEHICLE.
