ON JULY 13, 2016, I TOOK MY JEEP IN TO OUR LOCAL DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN PICKING UP MY JEEP, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE WRITER THAT THEY DISCOVERED THE K FRAME (CROSSOVER IN FRONT OF VEHICLE) WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND WOULD VERY SOON NEED TO BE REPLACED. IF IT WAS NOT REPLACED, IT WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD! I AM AWARE THAT CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE 2007 JEEP PATRIOT TO 10 YEARS FOR THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THE 2007 AND 2008 MODELS USE THE SAME FRAME AND DESIGN. THEY DID NOT EXTEND THE COVERAGE FOR THE 2008 MODEL. THIS IS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 105,000 MILES ON MY JEEP.
DURING A REPAIR FOR ANOTHER ISSUE, I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THAT SAME PART IN THE 2007 MODEL OF THAT SAME CAR WAS EXTENDED. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IF I USED A 2008, THE PART COST WOULD BE OVER $600 AND CARRY A WARRANTY, IF I USED THE 2007 PART, WHICH IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE 2008, THE PART WOULD COST UNDER $75.00 BUT CARRY NO WARRANTY. I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY ADVISED THAT THAT INFORMATION WAS TRUE AND THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR MY EXPENSE. THEY INDICATED THEY WOULD SET UP CASE #29675811 AND INFORM ME OF ANY FUTURE ACTIONS/RECALLS FOR THAT PART. I SIMULTANEOUSLY SENT A LETTER TO "CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE" AND YESTERDAY RECEIVED A TELEPHONE CALL CONFIRMING THEIR DENIAL. NOW, HOW DUMB IS THAT? THEY EXTEND A WARRANTY AND REPLACE A DEFECTIVE PART FOR THE SAME MODEL CAR, ONE YEAR OLDER, AND THAT PART RENDERS THE VEHICLE "UNSAFE TO DRIVE"? THE FACT THAT THE PART RUSTED SO BADLY IN THE FIRST PLACE IS SERIOUS CAUSE FOR CONCERN. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO REIMBURSE THE $465.73 I PAID TO REPLACE THEIR DEFECTIVE PART.

ROLLOVER VALVE - EVERY TIME I FILLED THE GAS TANK, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT JERKING AND OCCASIONAL STALLING. THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN IF I ONLY FILLED PARTIALLY. WITHIN A MILE THERE WOULD BE JERKING, AND STALLING HAS HAPPENED WHILE IDLING AND WHILE DRIVING. NOT ONLY IS THAT A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN, BUT IN A VEHICLE ROLLOVER THE VALVE PREVENTS GAS FROM SPILLING OUT AND STARTING POSSIBLE FIRES. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY ON LOCAL STREETS AND NOT A HIGHWAY WHEN I STALLED, BUT I HAVE READ OTHER FORUMS WHERE PEOPLE'S PATRIOTS STALLED AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND OTHER MECHANICS SEEM TO KNOW THIS IS A COMMON FLAW WITH JEEPS AND CHRYSLERS BUILT IN THE PAST 5-8 YEARS. THE ONLY SOLUTION TO REPLACE THE VALVE IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK, WHICH IS EXTREMELY COSTLY. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RECALLED DUE TO SAFETY, BUT CHRYSLER SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND HAS DONE NOTHING.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN A 45 MPH ZONE WHEN, TWICE TODAY, THE BRAKES ON MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT SANK TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING WAS SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO GET THEM TO REGAIN PRESSURE AFTER LETTING OFF THE PEDAL; BRAKES WORKED ON SECOND ATTEMPT. LATER DOWN THE ROAD THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO BUILD PRESSURE, IT WAS UNNECESSARY ... THE BRAKES WORKED ON SECOND ATTEMPT. MY VEHICLE DID NOT DISPLAY ANY WARNING INDICATORS AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE; NEITHER THE BRAKE LIKE, ABS LIGHT, OR ANY OTHER LAMP ON THE DASH WAS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED. USUALLY IN THE RAIN, MY PATRIOT SUFFERS FROM A STUTTERING AND STALLING ISSUE THAT IS REPORTED BY MANY JEEP PATRIOT OWNERS, AND HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED DUE TO THE IRREGULARITY OF THE PROBLEM. A DIRECT CAUSE FOR THE ISSUE IS UNKNOWN AND CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP OR MY REGULAR MECHANIC.
THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A GAS STATION AND WAS FILLED UP WITH GAS. THE FUEL WAS NOT "TOPPED OFF" AND FUELING WAS STOPPED WHEN THE FUEL NOZZLE SHUT OFF. UPON LEAVING THE GAS STATION AND DRIVING LESS THAN 1/4 MILE, THE ENGINE STALLED AND SHUT OFF WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE AND DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AFTER THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL REPEATEDLY STOPPED PUMPING AND THE TANK FAILED TO FILL. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VENT PIPE FAILED AND THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. WHENEVER WE FILL UP THE GAS TANK ON THE JEEP, THE JEEP WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IS YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL STALL AFTER FILLING THE TANK BUT IT DEFINITELY WILL STALL. TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING, WE NO LONGER FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY. THIS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION BUT I WILL PUT DOWN THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER FORGOT THAT SHE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO FILL THE JEEP ALL THE WAY TO FULL.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,980.
I'VE BEEN INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC THAT MY SUBFRAME ON THE GROUND END IS ROTTED OUT AND WILL PROBABLY CRACK IN HALF IN LESS THAT S YEAR. I KEEP REPLACING BALL JOINTS AND CONTROL ARMS BECAUSE THE FRAME IS SO WEAK IT IS STARTING TO BOW AND CAUSE EVERYTHING TO BECOME OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 75000 MILES ON IT AND NEVER OFF ROAD. CHRYSLER CORP TOLD ME ITS PROBABLY TIME TO BUY S NEW CAR. THIS CAR IS S MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND MY SMALL CHILDREN. HOPEFULLY NO ONE GETS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED BEFORE THEY SEE A PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OBSERVED THAT THE FRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
MY SUBFRAME IS ROTTING THROUGH AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY KIDS AND MYSELF. THE CAR IS NOT THAT OLD TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHICH WAS TOLD TO ME BY MY MECHANIC.
FRONT CROSS MEMBER ROTTED OUT AND FAILED STATE INSPECTION. THIS CROSS MEMBER IS WHAT RACK AND PINION AND CONTROL ARMS BOLT TOO.. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
ENGINE SPUTTERS AND STALLS AFTER FILLING TANK. THIS OCCURS A FEW MINUTES INTO DRIVING IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE TANK IS FILLED. THE CAR SPUTTERS AND STALLS, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE COMPLETELY REFUELED IN ORDER TO AVOID THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME UP AND A MECHANIC WITH LICENSE TOLD ME THAT; THAT MAIN SENSOR ALONG SIDE THE STEERING TUBE DID NOT WORK AND IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT FUNCTION. TELL ME IF THE MAKER IS OR NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM I'M FACING.
WITHIN A MILE OF FILLING UP MY GAS TANK THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND LOCKS UP THE STEERING WHEEL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS SEVERE CORROSION TO THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
-REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED. THE ENTIRE DIFFERENTIAL WAS REPLACED BY JEEP THROUGH UNLIMITED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. PROBLEM SOLVED. -THE FRAME AND BODY BEGUN TO RUST. THE PROBLEM STARTED TO APPEAR WHEN THE CAR WAS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD. THE PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT UP TO JEEP. JEEP DECLINED TO FIX OR ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. -ENGINE STALLS EVERY 11 SECONDS. FAULTY CODE SHOWS: P2107: THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL MODULE PROCESSOR. THE THROTTLE MODULE WAS REPLACED TWICE. PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. VERY UNSAFE DUE TO LOSS OF STEERING. CURRENTLY, THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEABLE - PROBLEM NOT FIXED. 04/01/2021: ODI # CHANGED FROM 10896825 TO 10896752 AS PART OF ROUTINE DATA CLEANUP.
MY FRONT CROSSMEMBER / SUB FRAME IS ROTTED OUT . CONTACTED JEEP THEY ARE AWARE OF PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY WARRANTED 2007 MODELS BUT NOT 2008 . FRONT ENGINE CRADLE HAS HUGE HOLES IN IT . DESIGN FLAW CAUSE THE AC DRIPS RIGHT ON FRAME CAUSING RUST . DEALERSHIP SAID NO SETRVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BUT THEY LIED . FINALLY GOT A GOOD QUOTE TO HAVE FIXED GONNA COST 775 TO FIX . I HAVE ALSO CHANGED MY FRONT SUSPENSION COMPONENTS 3 TIMES . BALL JOINTS , TIE RODS ETC AND THE OTHER PARTS . ONLY SAVING GRACE IS ITS PAID FOR AND LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY .
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP PATRIOT IT STARTED TO MAKE A WHINING NOISE AND EVENTUALLY THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER. AFTER SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD A WHILE I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND BEGAN TO DRIVE AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEM BUT STILL I HEARD THE WHINNING NOISE. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE AGAIN THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER. AFTER FINALLY MAKING IT HOME I IMMEDIATELY GOT ON THE INTERNET TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM. ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE JEEP PATRIOT CVT TRANSMISSION IS CRAP AND THE COMPANY WON'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT KNOWING THAT THEIR PRODUCT HAVE PROBLEMS. I'M DISGUSTED AN 09 WITH 53,000 MILES AND I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. OUR GOVERNMENT AND CITIZENS BAILED THE CHRYSLER COMPANY OUT WHEN THEY WAS AT RISK OF LOSING EVERYTHING AND THIS IS HOW THEY PAY US BACK AND SAY THANK YOU, BY SELLING US CRAP AND BEING KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE ISSUES IT HAS AND DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I FEEL AS THOUGH THE CHRYSLER COMPANY SHOULD ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND FIX THEIR PRODUCT ITS THEIRS THEY MADE IT SO FIX IT PLAIN AND SIMPLE BUT NO AFTER SPENDING THOUSANDS ON THEIR VEHICLE THEY WANT U TO ALSO SPEND ANOTHER $3500 IN THEIR DEALERSHIPS ON A NEW TRANSMISSION THIS IS ROBBERY AT ITS FINEST AND NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT IT BUT AGAIN THIS IS AMERICA HOME OF THE FREE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, AND A CONDITION OF LOW IDLE STALLING HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER MY 8 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT MECHANICAL CONDITION, AND ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND DOCUMENTED. IN WET OR DAMP CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE REGULARLY STALLS, OR THE IDLE DROPS BELOW A NORMAL OPERATING RANGE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER. MORE RECENTLY, IN WET OR DAMP CONDITIONS, WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP, THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO MOVE BEFORE EXPERIENCING NEAR TOTAL LOSS OF POWER MOMENTARILY BEFORE RPMS SURGE AND ACCELERATION CONTINUES. THIS IS HAZARDOUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CROSS INTERSECTIONS, AS THE STALLING AND LIMP ACCELERATION ARE RANDOM AND CANNOT BE PREDICTED. EARLY ON I HAD BROUGHT THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALERSHIP'S ATTENTION DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE ALSO COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AS IT ONLY OCCURS IN WET OR DAMP CONDITIONS. THERE ARE MANY DOCUMENTED INSTANCES OF IDENTICAL OR SIMILAR ISSUES WITH ALL MODEL YEARS OF JEEP PATRIOTS, THOUGH NO REMEDY HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER LEAKED ONTO THE ENGINE CRADLE AND CAUSED SEVERE CORROSION. THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER DISCHARGE ON THE ENGINE CRADLE CAUSED THE CORROSION, AND THE ENGINE PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
MY 2008 PATRIOT'S FRONT CROSSMEMBER IS RUSTING THROUGH. CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON THE 2007 PATRIOTS, BUT HAS NOT ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM ON THE 2008 MODEL. THE CROSSMEMBER SUPPORTS THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. IF IT WERE TO FAIL IN MOTION THE RESULTS WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP PATRIOT. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG AND SUSPECTED A SENSOR FAILURE IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
AFTER FILLING UP, THE VEHICLE BUCKS AND STALLS. AFTER A FILL UP THIS PAST WEEKEND, THE JEEP STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONGESTED INTERSECTION LEAVING ME MOMENTARILY STRANDED. LUCKILY, AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. VERY SCARY!! THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN LEAVING THE GAS STATION. IT WASN'T UNTIL RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE THAT I DISCOVERED MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE.
WE STARTED TO HAVE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF OUR CAR WHEN WE DROVE IT. THINKING IT WAS SOMETHING IN THE WHEEL, WE HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. HE TOLD US THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT TO THE POINT THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. HAD IT TOWED TO A JEEP DEALER, SAID IT WAS A GOOD THING WE DIDN'T TRY TO DRIVE IT. IT WAS POSSIBLE THAT THE ENGINE COULD HAVE FALLEN OUT IT WE HIT A POT HOLE ON THE WAY THERE. CONTACTED JEEP, THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IN MY RESEARCH I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED IN 2007, 2008, AND 2009 JEEP PATRIOTS.
AFTER FILLING MY 2008 PATRIOT UP WITH FUEL THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP , TODAY MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT STALLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. LUCKY I WAS NOT HIT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS
2008 JEEP PATRIOT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO UNSATISFACTORY CUSTOMER SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP WITH VEHICLE POWER TRAIN INSPECTION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, INSPECTIONS DID NOT INCLUDE THE POWER TRAIN. *JB
PURCHASED VEHICLE USED 11/2015; FIRST LEAK IN REAR COMPARTMENT LIGHT FIXTURE 12/26/2015. 1/24/2016; NEW LEAK IN FRONT COMPARTMENT LIGHT FIXTURE. SERIOUSLY, ISN'T THIS ALL ONE SYSTEM? IF CHECKED THOROUGHLY, SHOULDN'T THIS HAVE FAILED 12/2015? VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH DEALERSHIP. NOW AN ADDITIONAL FEE AND LOSS OF TIME ON MY PART.
WHEN PUTTING FUEL IN MY VEHICLE, I AM UNABLE TO PUT MORE THAN 1 GALLON OF GAS IN THE TANK. THE PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND GAS STARTS POURING BACK OUT OF THE TANK. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE ONLY TO FIND THERE ARE A LOT OF JEEP OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVE TRIED TO REPLACING THE EVAP CANISTER, ONLY TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER. THEN THEY END UP HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. THE FUEL TANK ISSUES ARE ISSUES THAT JEEP SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR GIVEN THE RATE OF OCCURRENCES FOR JEEP OWNERS AND EXPENSIVE FIX.
MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT LEAKS THROUGH DOME LIGHT. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST COUPLE TIMES THIS HAPPEN LAST YEAR IT FRIED MY RADIO.
CANNOT PUMP GAS, PUMP SHUTS OFF AFTER A FEW CENTS OF GAS IS PUMPED. VERY BIG SAFETY HAZARD DURING PUMPING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND REQUIRES THE GAS TANK TO BE REPLACED. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ROLLOVER VALVE.
AFTER FUELING VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING AWAY THE JEEP WILL STUTTER AND SHUT OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING DOWN A BUSY STREET. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS A FEW MINUTES AFTER FUELING BUT HAS HAPPENED A DAY AFTER.
I AM DRIVING A NEW TO ME PATRIOT 2008 AND AM HAVING WATER LEAKING IN TO INTERIOR FROM REAR/HATCH DOOR. IT'S A HOLIDAY WEEKEND, SO WILL HAVE TO WAIT TILL MONDAY TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN SUDDENLY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIGHT UP, THE DIALS WENT CRAZY, THE CAR BUCKED LIKE IT WAS STALLING AND THEN THE ENGINE CUT OFF. I HAD THE VEHICLE EXAMINED BY A PROFESSIONAL AUTO MECHANIC AND HE INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE TOTAL INTEGRATION POWER MODULE WHICH IS COMMON IN MOST JEEPS/CHRYSLERS AND HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF ISSUES IN RECENT YEARS. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TIPM, BUT NOT DOING SO MEANS DRIVING THE CAR IS UNRELIABLE AND INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY TO OTHER DRIVERS WHO MAY NOT EXPECT THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM TO SUDDENLY STOP.
WHEN TURNING RIGHT OR ACCELERATING FROM A STOP I WOULD HEAR A BANG NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF MY JEEP. IMMEDIATELY MY ESP/BAS LIGHT WOULD COME ON. THE ESP/BAS WARNING LIGHT WOULD GO OFF BUT COME BACK ON AGAIN AFTER MAKING A TURN. I NOTICED MY LEFT, REAR TIRE WAS WEARING OUT ON THE INSIDE. TREAD ON OTHER 3 TIRES HAD NO UNEVEN WEAR. ON DEC. 23, 2015 I BROUGHT MY JEEP INTO PALM CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE OF PUNTA GORDA, FLORIDA FOR A MULTIPOINT INSPECTION AND OIL CHANGE. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY REAR SUB CHASSIS WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND REPAIRS EXCESSIVE. I WAS INFORMED BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR -- KRISTIE WILKINSON, REPAIRS WOULD EXCEED WHAT THE JEEP IS WORTH AND THAT RUST IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AND IT IS NOT EVEN COVERED UNDER MY LIFETIME MAXIMUM CARE CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACT (# 34813970) I PURCHASED IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR WARRANTY. THE NEXT DAY I WAS SHOWN THE SEVERE RUST ON THE REAR CHASSIS SUBFRAME BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND TECHNICIAN. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE REAR OF MY JEEP'S WEIGHT IS RESTING ON TOP OF THE TRANSFER CASE, AND IF HE JUST HIT THE REAR WITH A HAMMER ONE TIME IT WILL FALL APART IN PIECES AND THAT THE JEEP WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. MY RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS IS A FAULT/WEAKNESS THAT IS ALREADY RECOGNIZED BY CHRYSLER CORP. IN THE 2007 JEEP PATRIOTS AND IS COVERED BY THEM UNTIL 2017. THIS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH MUST BE ADDRESSED IN THIS MODEL YEAR (2008), ALSO.

ALSO, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS SPLITTING IN TWO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CENTER SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,898.
ENGINE STALLS SHORTLY AFTER REFUELING. VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHEN IT COMES TO A STOP WITHIN MINUTES OF REFUELING.
I WAS AT MY MECHANIC GETTING MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT SERVICED WHEN HE CALLED ME INTO THE SHOP TO LOOK AT THE RUST ISSUE THAT THE K FRAME HAS. THE RUST HAS ALREADY BEGAN TO MAKE HOLES IN THE STRUCTURE WHICH WERE NOT THERE AT MY LAST CHANGE 3 MONTHS AGO. I BEGAN TO RESEARCH THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT IT SEEMS TO BE QUITE COMMON, SO MUCH THAT THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE 2007 PATRIOT WARRANTY. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY OPEN RECALLS ON MY PATRIOT AND HE TOLD ME THAT THERE WASN'T. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR EVEN AT JUST UNDER 105,000 MILES. THE INFORMATION THAT I HAVE READ ONLINE MENTIONS A MANUFACTURE FLAW THAT HAS THE A/C DRAIN OVER THE FRAME. THIS LEAVES THE OWNER WITH A COSTLY REPAIR THAT IS JEEPS FAULT. WHILE THE JEEP WAS IN THE AIR ON THE LIFT WE INSPECTED THE REST OF THE UNDER BODY EVERYTHING ELSE WAS RUST FREE BUT I HAVE ENCLOSED PICTURES TAKEN TODAY ON THE LIFT.
GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF WHEN FILLING UP, IT STARTED LAST MONTH ON & OFF. LAST 3 DAYS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PUT MORE THAN 1 GALLON REGARDLESS OF GAS PUMP OR GAS STATION. CHECKED INTERNET AND MANY ARE REPORTING THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THE GAS TANK HAS TO BE REPLACED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. I HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 2005 CHRYSLER 300, IT STARTED THE SAME WAY WHERE I COULD NOT PUT GAS, THEN IT STARTED TO SHUTOFF WHILE DRIVING OR RIGHT AFTER FILLING UP, A COUPLE TIMES I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WHEN TURNING AT INTERSECTION AND ENGINE SHUTOFF AFTER LEAVING THE GAS STATION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE GAS TANK FOR FREE AS SIMILAR ISSUES WERE REPORTED FOR 2006 CHRYLER 300S,BUT NOT 2005 MODEL. 2) ALSO, OFTEN AFTER FILLING UP, THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL GO ON USUALLY WITHIN HOURS OF FILLING UP WHILE DRIVING AND STAYS ON. SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT GO OFF FOR DAYS EVEN WHEN DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY FOR AN HR.THE ENGINE LIGHT WHEN IT GOES OFF MAY STAY OFF FOR 2-3 WEEKS. I CHECK THE GAS CAP AND IT IS ON TIGHT. PREVIOUSLY MY MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS DUE TO A CODE 420? POINTING TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I AM NOT CONVINCED IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER BECAUSE WHEN THE LIGHT GOES OFF, IT STAYS OFF FOR WEEKS, AND I DO ALLOT OF DRIVING. ON STREETS AND EXPRESSWAY FOR 30 MILES OR MORE DAILY. I AM TAKING CAR TO DEALER FOR CHECK UP NEXT WEEK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONLY AFTER REFUELING AND WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED ON A SEPARATE OCCASION. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE STALLING FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000. AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK IN MY 2008 JEEP PATRIOT, IT WILL IMMEDIATELY START TO "CHUG" OR EVEN HAVE THE ENGINE STALL COMPLETELY. THIS WILL HAPPEN WHILE SITTING STILL OR EVEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS!!! MY MECHANIC SAYS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER/JEEP. HE IS RIGHT. THE PROBLEMS ARE DOCUMENTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. OF COURSE, THE ONLY FIX IS TO HAVE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK REPLACED WHICH NEEDLESS TO SAY, IS VERY EXPENSIVE. JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS KNOWN DEFECT.

AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE PUMP AT COSTCO BUT I HAVE SINCE EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AT SEVERAL OTHER STATIONS. IT TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO FILL THE TANK FROM EMPTY AND WILL SPIT GAS BACK IF I AM NOT CAREFUL. CHECKED THE EVAP CANISTER AND FILLER NECK. BASED ON RESEARCH IT APPEARS THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK.

IN THIS MOMENT, THE MOTOR WAS OFF AND THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION. IN THIS MOMENT JUST AN EXTINGUISHER WAS USED THE DAMAGE WAS A LINE CUT OVER THE MOTOR 2.4.
