TAKATA RECALL
My rear subframe is completely rusted through. It is available for inspection. It has been confirmed by an independent service center. Warranties were issued to 2007 owners or 10 years old. 3 years ago I noticed a squeek in the trunk. Was told it was struts so I had them replaced. Now the vehicle knocks and squeaks so bad it has to sit until I can afford to replace subframe.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND CHIMES CONSTANTLY GO ON AND OFF. I WORK A MILE FROM HOME AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CHIME SOUNDS 10-15 PER TRIP TO WORK. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED, AND RAIN OR SHINE.
MY 2009 JEEP PATRIOT WON'T CRANK. IT TURNS ON RANDOMLY. I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. NEW BATTERY. NO CHIP ON KEYS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT. EACH TIME THE FUEL TANK WAS REFILLED, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHERN CHRYSLER JEEP GREENBRIER (LOCATED AT 1414 S MILITARY HWY, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320, (757) 424-4600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
WE TOOK OUR CAR IN DUE TO SOME NOISE & INCIDENTALLY IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE DANGEROUSLY ROTTED ENGINE CRADLE. THE REST OF THE CAR IS NOT RUSTED OUT.
Dome light leaking water when rain or snow, leaving seats, car floor mats drenched. Had to replace radio three times and it smells like something burning
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT CALLED LIVONIA CHRYSLER JEEP AT 734-525-5000 (LOCATED AT 30777 PLYMOUTH RD, LIVONIA, MI 48150) AND WAS INFORMED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
TIRE DEALER INDICATES THAT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEED REPLACING DUE TO WORN BALL JOINTS. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 47000 MILES AND IS DRIVEN FOR FAMILY PLEASURE ONLY. THIS IS PREMATURE WEAR. ALL FOUR TIRES WORE PREMATURELY. (IN FACT, THE BALL JOINT ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT.) IF THE BALL JOINTS SEPARATE, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WOULD LIKELY BE LOST. THE TIRE DEALER RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE BALL JOINTS AND TO AVOID DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS (2007-2017) COMPASS AND PATRIOT MODELS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR DEFECTIVE LOWER BALL JOINTS ON THE 2004 JEEP LIBERTY. THE SAME SHOULD BE DONE HERE BEFORE A FATALITY OCCURS.
"TAKATA RECALL" EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IT HAS BEEN SLOW TO ACCELERATE. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS EVERY NOW AND THEN IF I ACCELERATE TO QUICKLY AFTER THE CAR WAS IN PARK. WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SOMETIMES THE CAR NEEDS TO BE SHUT OFF IN OTHER FOR IT TO SHIFT IN GEAR PROPERLY AGAIN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON FOR TCM CONTROL NO MATTER WHAT I DO. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING DEFECTIVE IN CONNECTION WITH THE POWER TRAIN.
SPOUSE HAS JUST MADE A TURN AND WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE COUNTRY WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD POP FOLLOWED BY A LOUD NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR WITH VEHICLE VIBRATION. SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THE REAR WHEEL DRIVER SIDE WAS ON AN ANGLE. HUSBAND SHOWED UP TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED AND IT APPEARS THE REAR SUBFRAME CRACKED UNDER SEVERE CORROSION ALLOWING THE LEFT REAR AXLE TO POP OUT OF THE DIFFERENTIAL. VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED HOME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD START, BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. ALSO, THE MALFUNCTION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER STILL WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 197,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD THE 2009 JEEP PATRIOT'S SUBFRAME BROKE. BECAUSE OF THIS MY VEHICLE ALMOST LOST THE PASSENGER TIRE. HAD IT BEEN ON THE FREEWAY I WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED. AFTER BEING INSPECTED BY THE MECHANIC HE HAS NEVER SEEN RUST THIS BAD AND IT'S MUCH MORE DETERIORATED THAN ANY OTHER PART OF THE UNDERBODY. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. A 9 YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS SORT OF DETERIORATION. THE RESULT OF THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE HAS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TIE-ROD, THE SUSPENSION, AND THE CONTROL ARM. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS.
I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS CAR AND THE TRANSMISSIONS RUNS HOT AND YOU CAN DRIVE PAST A CERTAIN SPEED LIMIT
THE K FRAME (FRONT CROSS MEMBER) RUSTED AND FAILED RESULTING IN BOTH A FRAMES AND BALL JOINTS TO ALSO FAIL. THE RACK AND PINION STERRING CONTROLS ARE SHIFTING ON THE K FRAME AS WELL. JEEP OFFERS NO RECALLS OR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS COMMON PROBLEM. LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL PRESENTS A HAZZARD DUE TO SUBSTANDARD METAL PREMATURE FAILURE. FIRST NOTE OF FAILURE WAS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHILE TURNING RIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HIS DAUGHTER WHO OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE WERE FLOATING LEFT TO RIGHT. THE STEERING ALSO TURNED LEFT TO RIGHT AND RIGHT TO LEFT, WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER TO MOMENTARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DAYSTAR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (330-863-1144, LOCATED AT 206 S CARROLLTON ST, MALVERN, OH 44644) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT HARD BRAKING LOCKED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND CAUSED IT TO STICK TO THE FLOOR. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE BRAKE PUMP AND THE ABS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.

THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO OPERATE PROPERLY. THE DEALER (FOLSOM LAKE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM, 12545 FOLSOM BLVD, FOLSOM, CA 95630) WAS CONTACTED AND UNABLE TO DIAGNOSIS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MY JEEP PATRIOT STALLS WHEN YOUR AT TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH NO WARING AND SOMETIME AS YOUR DRIVING WITH NO WARING. SOMETIMES STARTS NO PROBLEM AND OTHER TIME ITS HARD TO START. THERE NO ENGINE LIGHT OR CODES. THIS HAPPEN MANY TIMES AND I TOOK TO THE MECHANIC COULDN'T FINE WHAT IT COULD BE BECAUSE THERE NO CODES TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM........

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS NOW WHEN MY JEEP HAS SLOWED TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT STARTS WITH A HIGH WHINING NOISE THEN THE COOLANT LIGHT COMES ON FOLLOWED BY MY JEEP LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE HIGHWAY SPEED IS 75 MPH AND THIS MAKES FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. JEEP CAN BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY ACCIDENT OR INJURY THAT OCCURS DURING THIS MALFUNCTION.
THE FRONT AND REAR CROSS BARS ARE SEVERELY RUSTED. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS RUST IS NOT COMMON WEAR AND TEAR, BUT A POORLY MADE OR CHOSEN PART BY MY MANUFACTURER, JEEP / CHRYSLER. HE SAID MY VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. WHILE THE CROSS BARS ARE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THE BOLTS AND CONTROL ARMS (ALSO SEVERELY AND DANGEROUSLY RUSTED) ARE NOT. DRIVING MY 09 JEEP PATRIOT APPROXIMATELY 25MPH WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS IN A BLIND SPOT AND DROVE INTO THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE, PUSHING THE FRONT LEFT SIDE INTO A WALL. THE AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF AS THE CAR IS NOW TOTALED. OTHER DRIVERS AIRBAGS WENT OFF. I RECIEVED ATTENTION AT THE HOSPITAL FOR WHIPLASH AND A CONCUSSION FROM HITTING MY HEAD OFF OF THE A-FRAME AND HEADREST.

JEEP STALLS AND SHUTS OFF AFTER FUELING.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE SUDDENLY WITHOUT ANY "WARNING" ALL THE DASH LIGHTS BATTERY, ENGINE, ECT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE STALLED. WOULD NOT DRIVE OR RE-START JUST DIED. SUGGESTED THAT IT IS THE COMPUTER/PCM...
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE WITH MY JEEP. IT STALLS NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER I GET FUEL. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP PATRIOTS. IT HAS ALSO COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 2012+ MODELS FOR THE ISSUE. I AM WONDERING WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THE 2009 MODEL THAT I HAVE? AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VER COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2007-2009 MODELS AS WELL. THIS ISSUE IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT NUMEROUS TIMES. BEING MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION, I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY STARTED TO TO STALL AND WOULDN'T DRIVE PAST 15MPH..LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE INTO A WENDYS PARKING LOT WHEN IT STALLED COMPLETELY..AFTER IT STALLED COMPLETEY I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND TRIED TO START IT UP AGAIN NOTHING HAPPENED WOULDN'T TURN ON AND JUST MADE A CLICKING NOISE..THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 15 MPH AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE BEFORE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,898.
WHEN MY DAUGHTER FILLS THIS CAR UP WITH GAS, IT WILL STALL WHEN SHE IS AT STOP SIGNS/LIGHTS WHEN IDLING. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS TRYING TO MAKE A TURN. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS. I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE ROLL OVER SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK, AND IT NEEDS TO BE A MANUFACTURER RECALL.
THE HEATER CORE IS CLOGGING NOT LETTING ANTIFREEZE THRU HEATER CORE HAS CLOGGED NUMEROUS TIMES. WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT, FLUSH IT, ETC. IN OUR VEHICLE, IT BLOWS WARM/HOT ON DRIVERS SIDE BUT AS YOU CROSS OVER VEHICLE IT BLOWS COLD ON PASSENGER SIDE. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND SHOP HAS SAID THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM CAUSING METAL BITS TO COLLECT AND BUILD UP AND BLOCK UP THE HEATER CORE. SOMETHING IS CAUSING BLOCKAGE. THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. THE LAST TIME IT WAS REPLACED WAS IN 2015. I OPTED NOT TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN THIS TIME UNTIL WE FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SERVICE TECH CHECKED THE BLEND DOOR, THE THERMOSTAT, AND FLUSHED THE HEATER CORE. HE SAID THE HEATER CORE NEEDS REPLACING AGAIN. THIS IS ALMOST $800 AGAIN ON THIS PART. I SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER JEEP TO MAKE SURE IT IS DOCUMENTED BUT NOT SURE WHAT THEY DO WITH THIS INFORMATION. DURING THE CONVERSATION THEIR PEOPLE WERE SAYING DIFFERENT THINGS REGARDING HOW THEY MONITOR PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLES AND/OR PARTS. TO ENSURE THAT THIS DEFECT IS REPORTED I AM FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. I WOULD LIKE FOR THEM TO RESEARCH WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM SO THAT IT DOES NOT OCCUR IN THE FUTURE AS WELL AS IF IT BECOMES APPARENT THAT THEIR IS A DESIGN FLAW OR OTHER IN THE HEATER CORE SYSTEM OR ENGINE THAT PROPER ACTION IS TAKEN. BE IT RECALL OR OTHER.
AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. LOSE ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE CAR AND TURN IT BACK ON. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON DASHBOARD. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC.
AFTER FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC MULTIPLE TIMES FOR SEVERAL MILES. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE SINCE YOU LOSE ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THIS HAS CAUSED SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WHILE TURNING ONTO AN INTERSTATE. THIS SEEMS TO AFFECT 2007-2009 MODELS MOSTLY. THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK BECAUSE OF A SENSOR LOCATED ON TOP FOR AROUND 1200 USB. PLEASE SEE THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS BELOW. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AND MADE A GRINDING SOUND. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO ST. MICHAEL CAR CARE CENTER (500 CENTRAL AVE E, SAINT MICHAEL, MN 55376) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER (STILLWATER MOTORS, 5900 STILLWATER BLVD N, STILLWATER, MN 55082) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
THE ABS, ECC AND BREAKES DASHBOARD LIGHTS TURNED ON AT THE SAME TIME AND STAY TURNED ON.
AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK THE CAR BUCKS AND THE ENGINE DIES, FORCING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND ACCELERATION IN TRAFFIC. ALSO, THERE ARE DIFFICULTIES FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS - THE PUMP SHUTS OFF CONSTANTLY, ABOUT EVERY 1/3 GALLON OR SO, WHICH MEANS IT TAKES ABOUT 15-20 MINUTES TO FILL THE TANK. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC TWICE AND SPENT MORE THAN $300 IN ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THIS TO NO AVAIL. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR 10 YEARS, IT HAS JUST ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON IT - I BOUGHT IT NEW AT THE DEALER.
VEHICLE STALLS AFTER REFUELING (SEVERAL TIMES WITHIN 5 MILES AFTER REFUELING) BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL. VEHICLE STALLS INITIALLY WHILE IDLING IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING AND WHILE IN MOTION. VEHICLE STALLED WHEN PULLING INTO INTERSECTION (ON A PUBLIC ROADWAY), CAUSING WHEEL TO LOCK. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS HAPPENS WITH EVERY REFUEL SINCE THE FIRST EVENT.
WHEN ACCELERATING THE CAR OCCASSIONALLY WOULD ACT LIKE IT WANTED TO GO, THEN SLOWLY START TO SHIFT TO MOVE. THERE WOULD BE A WHINING NOISE WHEN SLOWING DOWN, BUT NO LIGHTS CAME ON UNTIL 2 DAYS BEFORE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR STOPPED MOVING WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A RURAL ROAD 2 DAYS LATER. . 105K MILES. . REGULARLY SERVICED. .

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME DISPLAYED EXCESSIVE CORROSION. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAMES OF THE ENGINE MOUNT, THE SHOCK MOUNT, AND THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE WERE RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE OVER HEATING LIGHT TURNS ON ON THE DASH AND MY CAR OVER HEATS AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING OVER 50MPH FOR MORE THAN 15 MINUTES. HOWEVER, IF I DRIVE ON STATE ROADS GOING 50MPH OR UNDER THE CAR DOESN'T OVER HEAT. I GOT A NEW THERMOSTAT AND NEW RADIOTOR THINKING IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND IT DID NOT. THERE IS NO LEAK COMING FROM THE CAR SO IT IS NOT A WATER PUMP ISSUE. THE COOLANT LEVELS ARE GOOD.

JEEP PATRIOT STALLS WITHIN ABOUT A MILE OF FILLING THE GAS TANK, STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT LUCKILY. PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP, GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. HAPPENS TO A LOF OF PATRIOT OWNERS IN CARS FROM 2007-2009. PLEASE RECALL. PLEASE!!!!!!!
AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL AND HAS STALLED ON SOME OCCASIONS. THIS IS CONCERNING TO ME BECAUSE, I HAVE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART IT. VEHICLE DIES WHEN DRIVING AWAY FROM GAS STATION EVERY TIME AFTER FILLING TANK. IT DOES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. DODGE HAD A RECALL FOR THIS BUT JEEP HAS NOT. WHEN I WAS AT MECHANICS YESTERDAY THEY HAD A HEEP COMPASS THAT WAS DOING THE SAME THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE RPMS REMAINED AT 5. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR A NOISE IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING A NEW BATTERY, SPARKS PLUGS, AND TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
SECOND FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT SEPARATION. THIS ONE, DRIVERS SIDE. RECENT PAST WAS THE PASSENGER SIDE. MILEAGE LESS THAN 50,000. VEHICLE IS JUST GOING IN FOR REPAIR -NHTSA MAY WANT TO CLAIM THE SUSPENSION BOLT ~ EVIDENCE IN MODE OF FAILURE. CROSS BOLT APPEARS SEPARATED ('OVER TORQUE' OR 'BENDING FLEXURAL FAILUE' OR GRADE (BRITTLE FAILURE). THIS FAILURE (10 MPH SLOW TURN). HIGHER SPEED COULD HAVE LEAD TO SEVERE ACCIDENT. ENTIRE FRONT SUBFRAME IS RUSTED OUT CAUSING THE RACK AND PINION TO BE DAMAGED. AUTO SHOP SAID HE WOULD NOT DARE HIT A POT HOLE WITH THIS SINCE THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE COULD FALL OUT. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON THE JEEP FORUMS.
