THE VEHICLE HABITUALLY WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO GETTING IT FUELED UP. I CANNOT GET ANY SUPPORT FROM THE DEALER REGARDING THE ISSUE, AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WHEN LOOKING ON VARIOUS JEEP PATRIOT FORUMS.
THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT THE FRONT SWAY BAR BROKE OFF AND THE CONTROL ARM WAS ABOUT TO ON 1-28-2017. IT WAS AT DICK SCOTT DEALERSHIP OF PLYMOUTH MI. FOR A TIMING CHAIN COVER GASKET REPAIR ON 10-6-2016. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO ASK WHY I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE SAFETY ISSUE AT THAT TIME. BUTCH SAID WE DO NOT INFORM CUSTOMERS OF RUST ISSUES. I WAS REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER FROM FCA AND INFORMED THIS WOULD BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. IT IS UNCONSCIONABLE THAT A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WOULD NOT DEEM THIS VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE ABOUT 100 DAYS EARLIER. YOU WILL SEE FROM THE ATTACHED PHOTOS.
THE TPM AND SECURITY LIGHT FLASH INTERMITTENTLY/ I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE OVER TO FIAT CHRYSLER SERVICE FOR A NUMBER OF REPAIRS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. PARTS REPLACED INCLUDED: STEERING WHEEL COMMUNICATION TRANSCEIVER, INTERNAL WIRING AND GROUND CHECKED, MAIN ENGINE TRANSMISSION MODULE, IGNITION SWITCH. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COVERED BY CHRYSLER MAX CARE WARRANTY, DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN WORKING WITH ME REGARDING REPAIRS AND SUPPLIED A LOANER CAR. THE TPM AND SECURITY LIGHTS WILL FLASH FOR A SHORT TIME AT IDLE, SPEEDS 10 MPH THROUGH 60 MPH, DRY, RAIN, SNOW CONDITIONS. WHEN THE JEEP HAS BEEN FOR REPAIRS CHRYSLER FACTORY WAS CONTACTED BY THE SERVICING DEALER. JEEP OWNERS MANUAL SAYS IF THE SECURITY LIGHT IS ON FOR 16 SECONDS THE ENGINE WILL SHUT DOWN. INITIAL DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED THE IGNITION KEY WAS NOT IDENTIFIED, THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE STARTED. ON GOING PROBLEM FROM JANUARY 2017, NEW IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED 3/ 8/ 2017. I DROVE AROUND WITH A DEALER INSTALLED DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE FOR TWO WEEKS. WHEN THE TPM AND SL POWERED ON PRESSED A BUTTON ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MODULE THAT WOULD RECORDED CODES 20 SECONDS BEFORE AND AFTER THE DIAGNOSTIC DEVICE WAS TRIGGERED . I HOPE NO ONE GETS INJURED DUE TO THE JEEP ENGINE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ONCE AGAIN THE SERVICING DEALER HAS BEEN DOING THE BEST THEY CAN. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN REPORTED ON THE INTERNET.
PROBLEM WITH ANTILOCK BRAKES: ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH ARE ON. THEY INTERMITTENTLY GO OFF, BUT MOSTLY THEY STAY ON. PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION/ENGINE: WHEN I DRIVE, THE JEEP STALLS OUT. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, SO FAST SPEED, AS WELL AS ON SIDE STREETS. BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE ONGOING, HAVE BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE JEEP.
CAR HAS MOONROOF, WATER LEAKS COME THROUGH MAP LIGHTS,AND POWER AWICH FOR MOONROOF,DRIPS ON RADIO AND GEAR SELECTOR,CANT FIX LEAK.VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE,VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVEING AS WATER POURS OUT OF MAP /DOME LIGHTS.ONLY LEAKS WATER WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION,NOT SITTING.

SEVERE ACCELERATION JERK. WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 5 AND 60 MILES AN HOUR THE ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN JERK EXCESSIVELY AS IF THE ENGINE ISN'T GETTING FUEL. WILL NOT JERK IMMEDIATELY AFTER TANK FILL UP BU WILL AFTER NEXT TIME DRIVEN UNTIL FILLED UP AGAIN.
EVERY SO OFTEN WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES WHILE CAR IS NOT MOVING THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR STALLS OUT, SOMETIMES WHEN ITS ON LONG TIME THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON , IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE THE COLDER IT IS OUTSIDE ,CAN NOT SEEM TO FIND THE PROBLEM BUT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PATRIOT AND OTHER CHRYSLER MODELS NOT SURE WHY CHRYSLER HASN'T DONE ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
DURING SERVICE, CHRYSLER FOUND FRONT CROSSMEMBER HAD A HOLE THAT WAS RUSTED THROUGH. WAS INFORMED THAT IF NOT FIXED, MY VEHICLE WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. HAD TO PAY FOR REPAIR AS MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THROUGH EASYCARE DOES NOT COVER RUST.
FILLING UP WITH GAS CAUSES ENGINE TO STALL. AUTO GARAGE SAYS IT'S THE CHECK BALL FOR THE FUEL TANK ALLOWING FOR OVERFILLING OF TANK AND THAN FUEL GETTING INTO THE VACUUM SYSTEM WHICH THEN CAUSE THE JEEP TO STALL WITHIN 5 MINS. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF IN INTERSECTION WITH THE KIDS IN THE CAR AND ALMOST GETTING HIT BY A DRIVER NOT PLAYING ATTENTION WHILE MY HUSBAND PUSHED THE JEEP OUT OF THE WAY TILL IT WANTED TO START AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING ROUTINE SERVICE TO THE VEHICLE, A CONSIDERABLY AMOUNT OF RUST AND ROT WAS NOTICED ON THE ENGINE FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME WAS ROTTED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK TO FULL, WITHIN A MILE OF LEAVING THE GAS STATION THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING AND THE BREAKS LOCK UP AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE CAR. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURN IT ON AND OFF TO START WORKING AGAIN. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING! THIS RECENTLY STARTED TO HAPPEN ON A CAR WITH MINIMAL MILES ON IT
THE FRAME IS ROTTING OUT. THE CAR IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD. THEIR IS A RECALL ON THE 2007 AND THE 2008 AND 2009 SHOULD ALSO BE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO SELL. IT IS VIBRATING AND A SAFETY ISSUE.

AS THE FAILURE PROGRESSED, THE FUEL SPILLED OUT WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION OTHER THAN THE DEALER REPLACING THE PARTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
IT WAS RECENTLY BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION FROM A FRIEND WHO HAS THE SAME YEAR VEHICLE THAT THE SUBFRAMES ON THESE JEEP ROTS OUT AND CAN CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT DUE TO THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS COMING LOOSE. THERE IS A RECALL FROM JEEP FOR THE 2007 YEAR JEEP PATRIOT BUT NO OTHER YEAR, EVEN THOUGH THEY USE THE SAME PART NUMBER SUBFRAME. MY JEEP HAS 65 THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND THE SUBFRAME DOESNT LOOK LIKE IT WILL LAST ANOTHER 10000 MILES. THE METAL IS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE BECAUSE A VEHICLES FRAME SHOULD NOT ROT OUT WITH ONLY 65000 MILES ON IT. THE REST OF THE UNDERNEATH OF THIS VEHICLE IS PERFECTLY CLEAN.
VEHICLE ABS LIGHT APPEARS FROM TIME TO TIME ,ABS STOPS TO WORK AND ALSO CRUISE CONTROL STOPS TO WORK AT THE SAME TIME ,LATELY MORE OFTEN - SOMETIMES IF DRIVING FOR LONGER PERIOD OF TIME IT WILL RESUME FUNCTIONALITY THEN COMES BACK AGAIN. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 2009 JEEP PATRIOT WENT TO SHOP FOR A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. CLUNKING SOUND WAS OCCASIONAL AND MOST OFTEN HAPPENED WHEN TURNING OR GOING OVER A BUMP. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A SWAY BAR LINK. ONCE UP ON THE LIFT WE COULD SEE THAT THE CROSSMEMBER UP FRONT (AND OTHER PARTS OF THE UNDERBODY) WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. MECHANIC (INDEPENDENT) ADVISED THAT VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE AS THE RUST IS BAD ENOUGH THAT IT COULD CRACK THROUGH COMPLETELY AT ANY TIME, DROPPING OUT THE ENGINE, AMONG OTHER THINGS. CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT ISSUE AS I FOUND OUT THAT THE 2007 JEEP PATRIOT WAS GIVEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (10 YEAR) FOR THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CHRYSLER OFFERED ME NO ASSISTANCE OR GUIDANCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CROSS MEMBER PREMATURELY FAILED AND THE ENGINE MOUNTS FRACTURED. THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER CONTROL STUCK OPEN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. VEHICLE HAS 92000 MILES ONLY. MECHANIC TOLD ME IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLE. VEHICLE STILL RUNS BUT ST UDDERS DURING ACCELERATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD CORRODED AND THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY EVAPORATING FLUID LEAKING ONTO THE CRADLE. THE TECHNICIAN THEN STATED THAT THE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSES AND FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT NOTIFIED AND PURCHASED PARTS FROM FRANK BOUCHER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF JANESVILLE (4001 MILTON AVE, JANESVILLE, WI 53546, (608) 757-6150) AND HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPAIR THE RUST FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,556.
MECHANIC SAID MY SUB-FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND WILL VERY SOON BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT MAY BREAK WHILE DRIVING. WHY HAS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS ADDRESSED IN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR 2007 MODELS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED FOR 2009? LOSS OF STEERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SEEMS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY AND OTHER DRIVERS.
SUB FRAME ROTTED THROUGH.EFECTING RIGHT SUSPENTION NOT DRIVEABLE. HAPPEND WHEN DRVING CITY STREETS HAD TO PULL IN TO NEAREST GARAGE.
THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER IS RUSTED THROUGH. CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE 2007 TO TEN YEARS TO COVER THIS PROBLEM, WHICH IF IT FAILS CAN LEAD TO LOSS OF STEERING. CHRYSLER WILL NOT EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THE 2009 PATRIOT, WHICH SEEMS TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME PART AND PROBLEM AS THE 2007 VEHICLES. MY CAR HAS ONLY 54800 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE PART RESULTING IN A PREMATURE FAILURE. I WILL HAVE TO GET THIS REPLACED MYSELF. THE DEALER PROVIDED NO RECOMMENDATION REGARDING REPLACING THE PART OR COATING THE FRONT SUBFRAME. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN OF WHO WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A REPAIR RECOMMENDATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE DEALER TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DAUGHTER'S 2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4 50,000 MILES SHUTS OFF AFTER FILLING UP WITH FUEL. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES OF FILL UP JEEP SHUTS OFF AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING. AFTER LETTING CAR SIT IN THE OFF POSITION IT WILL TURN BACK ON AND MAY OR MAY NOT REPEAT THE SAME CYCLE DEPENDING ON HOW LONG IT IS RUN BEFORE TRYING TO PROCEED. ONLY OCCURS WHEN FILLING TANK COMPLETELY; NO ISSUES WHEN NOT FILLING THE TANK MAXIMUM CAPACITY.
LOUD NOISE IN FRONT SUSPENSION ODD FEEL IN STEERING DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED AND FOUND THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND THE MOUNTING FOR THE FRONT SWAY BAD WAS ROTTED THROUGH AND PULLED APART. JEEP DEALER WANTED $99.00 TO LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE,AND TELL ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. 2007 MODEL YEAR HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE SAME PART NUMBER. I FEEL THIS IS A HAZARDOUS CONDITION CAUSED BE DEFECTIVE PART AND SHOULD BE RECALLED TO PREVENT A SERIOUS COLLISION AND POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE.
THE SUBFRAME ON THIS VEHICLE IS RUSTED THROUGH THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ON SEVERAL CHRYSLER PRODUCT'S DEALERSHIP SAID IT NEEDS REPLACED BUT CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER ANY PORTION OF THE COST THIS IS A OBVIOUS SAFETY DEFECT WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF MY MECHANIC SAID WHEN THIS BREAKS APART I WILL LOOSE CONTROL OF STEERING READING ON SEVERAL FORUMS THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES A SEVEN YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE MAJOR STRUCTURAL ISSUES CONTACTING CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSIST WAS NO HELP THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT HELP WITH THE COST EVEN AFTER A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS ROTTED OUT AND NEEDS REPLACED BEFORE IT BREAKS AND CAUSE'S AN ACCIDENT I HAD READ THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE 07 MODEL YEARS BECAUSE OF THIS MAJOR DEFECT NOW THEY NEED TO STEP UP AND INCLUDE THE LATER MODEL YEARS I WOULD ENCOURAGE ANYONE LOOKING AT A CHRYSLER PRODUCT TO DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING
UNABLE TO FILL THE TANK WITHOUT THE PUMP CLICKING OFF EVERY 2 - 3 SECONDS, DESPITE HAVING TRIED MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS AND PUMPS. MECHANIC ADVISED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE EVAP SYSTEM AND THAT THE FUEL TANK WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED (POSSIBLY A FAULTY ROLLOVER VALVE ON THE TANK). ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT IS TAKES FOREVER TO FILL THE TANK, I HAVE TO GUESS AT WHEN MY TANK IS FULL AND RISK OVERFILLING SINCE I CAN'T RELY ON THE USUAL "CLICK" OF THE PUMP. ALSO, IF IT IS A FAULTY ROLLOVER VALVE, I WOULD CONSIDER THIS A PRETTY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I HOPE OTHERS EXPERIENCING A SIMILAR PROBLEM ALSO FILE COMPLAINTS HERE AND WITH CHRYSLER/JEEP SO A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED IF NEEDED.
PART INVOLVED IS THE CROSSMEMBER (K-FRAME) P/N 68211659AA. A/C CONDENSATE DRAIN IS DIRECTLY OVER THE K-FRAME (ENGINE CRADLE). THE K-FRAME IS PERPETUALLY WET AND THEREFORE CORRODES. IT IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW THAT CREATES A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. IF THE K-FRAME FAILS AT HIGHWAY SPEED IN TRAFFIC THEN THERE IS LIKELIHOOD OF DEATH OR SEVERE INJURY. JEEP ADMITS TO A PROBLEM WITH THE K-FRAME IN THE 2007 MODEL YEAR AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO COVER THIS DEFECT. TODAY I CALLED JEEP AND THEY REFUSED TO EVEN INVESTIGATE THE ISSUE. THEY ASKED FOR MY VIN AND TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. NO INTEREST AT ALL IN EVEN RECEIVING PHOTOS OF THE DEFECTIVE PART. MY LOCAL DEALER HAD THREE OF THESE $634 PARTS IN INVENTORY... LITTLE BY LITTLE THE ELECTRICAL TO MY CAR HAS BEEN GOING. IM THE FIRST OWNER AND FIRST THE FRONT POWER WINDOWS, THEN THE HORN AND THEN THE LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THEN MY CAR STARTED STALLING OUT OF NO WHERE WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE. THEY SAY ITS THE PCM BUT I NEVER ABUSED AND ALWAYS TOOK CARE OF MY CAR.
THE ENGINE FREQUENTLY STALLS AFTER REFUELING, CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER STEERING, ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION. THIS STARTS AFTER THE ISSUE WITH RE-FUELING THAT LED TO FUEL NOZZLE KICKING OFF AT NORMAL RE-FUELING SPEED FOR 4 FILL-UPS, WHICH DOESN'T RECUR ANY MORE.
2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4, 20,800 MILES BAD ENOUGH I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT LEFT LOWER BALL JOINT AT THIS LOW MILEAGE, BUT WHILE IN THE SHOP MY MECHANIC CALLS ME TO INFORM ME THAT THE K-FRAME IS ROTTED OUT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. A K FRAME OR CROSS MEMBER ON A CAR IS THE PART OF THE CAR'S FRAME BOLTED BENEATH THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE K CROSS MEMBER, WHICH FEATURES ENGINE MOUNTS, IS USED TO SUPPORT A LONGITUDINALLY MOUNTED TRANSMISSION. THE K FRAME ENABLES BETTER HANDLING AND ALIGNMENT WITH RESPECT TO SUSPENSION. HE TELLS ME TO CALL THE DEALER AND THAT IT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. I CALL TWO DEALERSHIPS WITHOUT A RETURN PHONE CALL AND THEN CALL CHRYSLER. NOPE, NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY ARE UNWILLING TO ASSIST IN THE COST TO REPAIR. DID I MENTION IT ONLY HAS 20,800 MILES?
IN APRIL 2016 THIS 2009 JEEP PATROIT FAILED THE ANNUAL NEW YORK STATE SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO A SEVERELY RUSTED, UNSAFE FRAME CROSSMEMBER UNDER THE ENGINE. THE OWNER IS AWARE THAT CHRYSLER/JEEP RECOGNIZES THIS SAFETY PROBLEM AND IN JULY 2014 ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY (X58) TO COVER REPAIRS TO 2007 JEEP PATROITS AND OTHERS. THIS SUBJECT VEHICLE HAS THE EXACT SAME CORROSION ISSUE BUT IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY JEEP AS BEING PART OF THE WARRANTED POPULATION. CAR ENGINE DIES AFTER FILLING GAS TANK APPROXIMATELY 1 MILE AWAY FROM GAS STATION EVERY TIME. MY CAR HAS DIED IN AN INTERSECTION WHEN MAKING A TURN AGAINST ONCOMING TRAFFIC. BOUGHT CAR IN NOV WITH CLEAN CARFAX - 5MONTHS LATER IT SEEMED TO HAVE A FUEL INJECTION PROBLEM. ON WAY TO THE DEALER, CAR DID NOT STALL, BUT SPEED DROPPED TO 30-35 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY (ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON) HAD TO DRIVE IN BREAKDOWN LANE WITH HAZARD LIGHTS FLASHING, AND ON EXIT RAMP SHOULDER . TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO THE DRIVING LANE ON RAMP- SPEED DROPPED TO 5-10MPH. - NO ACCELERATION.. IT STARTED OUT WITH STUMBLING IDLE AND STALLING AFTER REFUELING. WHICH WAS DANGEROUS AS IT WOULD DO IT FOR UP TO A MILE AFTERWARDS WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO GET BACK ON THE HIGHWAY. NOW MY PROBLEM IS THE JEEP WILL NOT REFUEL. YOU PUT THE NOZZLE IN AND IT TAKES A LITTLE BIT AND IT KICKS OFF. PULL THE NOZZLE OUT AND REINSERT IT AND IT DOES IT AGAIN. IT WILL ALSO SPIT FUEL OUT AT YOU IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL. NOW THE STALLING AS MENTIONED PRIOR HAPPENS ALMOST ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.
FRONT SUBFRAME IS CRACKED AND COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. THIS LEADING TO MOVEMENT IN THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS WHILE STEALING AND BREAKING. THE RUST IS REALLY BAD FOR A 2009 CAR AND COULD LEAD TO A FAILURE WHILE DRIVING.

I PURCHASED A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT IN 2012. MY SUNROOF AND DOME LIGHTS HAVE BEEN LEAKING/POURING WATER INTO MY CAR, DESPITE PAYING TO HAVE THE JEEP DEALERS "BLOW OUT" THE NOW "TOO CORRODED TUBES" MORE THAN 4-5 TIMES IN THE PAST THREE YEARS. I'M TIRED OF DEALING WITH THE SUBSEQUENT MOLD AND DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH THE LEAKS; NOT TO MENTION THE AWFUL SMELL AND UNSIGHTLY STAINS. I ALMOST VEERED OFF THE ROAD WHEN THE STREAM STARTED POURING OUT OF MY DOME-LIGHT AND NEARLY ZAPPED MY HAND WHEN TRYING TO WIPE OFF/BLOCK THE RADIO, IN THE MIDST OF THE LEAK RIGHT BEFORE THE RADIO SHORTED OUT, WHILE DRIVING/TURNING DOWN A CITY STREET. WHEN I BRAKED TO PULL OVER, EVEN MORE WATER CAME POURING THROUGH MY LIGHT AND ONTO THE SHIFTING AREA, AIR VENTS, AND IGNITION. I QUICKLY JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR AND GRABBED CLOTHING AND TOWELS FROM MY TRUNK (WHICH I LUCKILY HAPPENED TO HAVE THAT DAY) AND BEGAN PRESSING THE MATERIALS TO THE DOME-LIGHTS. WHILE DOING SO, I FELT TAPPING ON MY SHOULDER AND LOOKED UP TO SEE THAT MY ENTIRE ROOF SURROUNDING THE SUNROOF WAS SOAKED AND DRIPPING ONTO ME AND MY SEATS. ALSO, THE BACK DOME-LIGHT WAS LEAKING ONTO MY BACK SEATS.... THIS WAS ALL ON THE WAY TO WORK, DURING THE BUSY TRAFFIC HOURS OF THE MORNING, AND THE LEAKS DID NOT CEASE DURING MY 40 MINUTE, HIGHWAY DRIVE TO WORK. I HAD TO COVER ALL OF MY SEATS AND ESSENTIALLY THE ENTIRE FRONT CONSOLE AND DASHBOARD, WITH TRASH BAGS AND CLOTHES TO PROTECT THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR WHILE IN MY OFFICE BUILDING. THE LEAKS SUBSIDED BY THE TIME I WAS DONE WORKING, BUT THE INTERIOR OF MY CAR WAS SOAKED AND THE RADIO AND LIGHTS DID NOT TURN BACK ON FOR HOURS. THERE IS NOW MOLD IN BOTH SETS OF DOME-LIGHTS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THESE LEAKS HAVE A OCCURRED, OBVIOUSLY, BUT IT WAS CERTAINLY A DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE NONETHELESS.
AFTER REFUELING MY VEHICLE WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM THE PUMP, IT STARTED BUCKING AND STALLED COMPLETELY. I HAVE HAD THE BUCKING AND SURGING UNSTABLE IDLE AFTER REFUELING. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AS TIME GOES ON. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON RIGHT ABOUT 6 MONTHS.

THE TECHNICIAN ADVISES THE VEHICLE CRADLE IS CLOSE TO TOTAL FAILURE DUE TO CORROSION. A PHOTO OF THE CORRODED CRADLE IS ATTACHED. VEHICLE HAS 91,000 ACTUAL MILES.
