Fuel System. When I fill the gas tank completely the car will stall within a minute or two. I lose power steering, break booster. I can restart and the car will operate correctly. This has been happening for some time.
After filling fuel tank to full, cranking the ignition, shifting into drive, and beginning propulsion, the engine will occasionally stall. This requires me to stop, shift into park, and restart and rev the engine to prevent it from happening again, which it sometimes does. This malfunction often takes place in high-traffic areas such as intersections or onramps to the freeway.
Every time gas is filled to only the first click to stop or no click at all the car will stall after the fill. THE CAR STALLS EVERY TIME NOT ONCE IN AWHILE BUT EVERY TIME AFTER A FILL START IT UP THEN RUNS REAL RUFF AND STALLS AGAIN. Every time it is filled up. The car stalls while getting on the freeway or street. Dealer state it is the fuel roll over sensor built in the fuel tank. Jeep knows this is a problem they are passing the buck on to the car owners. This is a safety issue when the car stalls. I need to pull over every time this happens and it is every time. They have to fix and recall this safety issue.
Cannot fill gas tank correctly. 30 seconds at a time due to gas tank roll over vale failure according to everything we have found on this issue with other owners. Premature shutoff during fueling at gas pump (every two- to three-tenths of a gallon), causing long delays at each fill-up. Previous owners have reported diagnoses by certified mechanics of stuck rollover valves, which have been recalled in other Fiat-Chryslet products but not yet for the Jeep Patriot model.
EVERYTIME I FILL UP GAS TO FULL, THE ENGINE STALLS ON THE ROAD FOR COUPLE TIMES.
AFTER FUELING THE CAR, THE ENGINE STALLS AND THE CAR STOPS FREQUENTLY. IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSING A SERIOUS HAZARD TO ME, MY PASSENGERS AND THE OTHER DRIVERS IN THE AREA. THE CAR WOULD SPUTTER AND STALL AT STOP SIGNS AND LIGHTS, WHEN STOPPED, WHEN SLOWING (UNDER 40 MPH) AND WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A SLOW DOWN OR STOP.
VEHICLE STALLS ON IDLE AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. DOESN'T STALL WHEN IN MOTION. THE PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS A FEW MILES AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK; ON A STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN, ETC. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND MOSTLY HAPPENS AFTER REFUELING.
STUCK ROLLOVER VALVE. 86,000 MILES. ROLLOVER VALVE IS INSIDE GAS TANK, CASUING REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE TANK. MANY OTHERS ONLINE NOTE SAME PROBLEM FOR THE PATRIOT. JEEP RECALLED OTHER MODELS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT NOT THE PATRIOT.

EVERY TIME THAT I FILL THE FUEL TANK, MY JEEP STALLS ONE TO THREE TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE MILES. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT A STOP LIGHT, DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, OR WHILE MAKING A LOW SPEED TURN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED AND I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY ROLL OVER VALVE LOCATED ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE ISSUE IS TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK WHICH IS VERY COSTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. AFTER THE CONTACT REFILLED THE FUEL TANK, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
WHENEVER I PUT A FULL TANK OF GAS IN MY CAR, MY CAR STALLS OUT. ONE TIME, I JUST LEFT THE GAS STATION AND IT STALLED AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO GET FOOD, IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. I'VE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE PATRIOTS, IT HAPPENS TO THEM. MY CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND IT ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES. ONE TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN MY PATRIOT WAS IN PARKED. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF SOMEONE WAS TURNING, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO SINCE THE WHEEL LOCKS SO YOU CAN'T TURN IT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE IT COULD BE THE FUEL TANK OR THE GAS CAP FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD AND IT'S NOT JUST ME HAVING THIS ISSUE.

REQUIRES WAITING BRIEFLY, AND THEN THE VEHICLE MAY RESTART, HOWEVER, IT WILL ALSO STALL OUT AGAIN UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK DECREASES. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS OCCURRING ON MANY JEEP PATRIOT AND COMPASS MODELS OVER MANY MODEL YEARS.

SINCE FEBRUARY 5TH, 2018, MY 2010 PATRIOT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR STALLING ISSUES, ALL SEEMINGLY AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK. THE STALLING HAPPENS WITHIN MOMENTS AFTER DRIVING AWAY FROM THE GAS PUMP, AND MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TOWED EACH TIME, COSTING ME EVERY TIME. VARIOUS 'FIXES' HAVE BEEN MADE, INCLUDING NEW SPARK PLUGS, TRANSMISSION FUEL CHANGE AND MOST RECENTLY, A ESIM AND DETECTOR. THE LATEST MECHANIC AT THE JEEP DEALER THAT REPAIRS MY VEHICLE SAID THE ISSUE WAS FROM GASOLINE GETTING INTO THE ESIM AND CAUSING A SAFETY STALL. FROM OTHERS I HAVE READ FROM, THIS ISSUE IS VERY COMMON AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED PERMANENTLY AND CORRECT FOR OWNERS, IN PREVENTION OF INJURY OR DEATH. SOME I HAVE READ FROM MENTION THE ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE GAS TANK NEEDS REPLACEMENT, WHICH WOULD THEREFOR REQUIRE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK TO NEED REPLACEMENT, A HEFTY PRICE FOR SOMETHING THAT SEEMS TO BE THE ERROR ON CHRYSLERS' BEHALF. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE TO GO ON LONG TRIPS WITH MY VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED PRE OWNED JUST LAST YEAR. PLEASE TAKE ACTION ON THIS ISSUE AS I KNOW MANY OWNERS ARE SUFFERING FROM THE SAME ISSUE THAT CAN BE DANGEROUS.
