Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 84,959. It was later discovered, upon checking a Carfax Report, that the mileage was 180,960.
This car keeps shutting off and having overheating issues on and off while driving. I have replaced all pistons, fuel injectors, relays, gaskets, thermostats, hoses, and the catalytic converter. I've seen that over 60,000 cases have been reported about this issue with this vehicle and these vehicles are still being sold used at used car dealers despite the issues being unrepairable. This is a real safety issue as the car stops running with no warning no matter where you are driving. You can see all the same reports on multiple sites online. Why hasn't jeep done anything about this issue? I know I bought mine used but I'm sure the used car dealer would have never had this vehicle on their lot if it was recalled as it should have been.
Over the past year, the car has had 4 crank position sensors, new pig tails/connectors on the wire harness, a new throttle body, and a new MCM. The Jeep will randomly shut off without warning either at stoplights/traffic or on the highway at speed. While at speed, the car will "restart" itself, but if it stalls while stagnant a manual restart is necessary. When the stalling occurs, warning lights do not appear on the dash. Lately, however; the crank position code P0339 has come up with the check engine light. I recently experienced a crank position sensor code followed by a cylinder 3 misfire which caused the car to go into limp mode. Once I replaced the MCM, the misfire went away. Most recently (today) the car stalled in the middle of an intersection while making a left turn; my [XXX] son was in the car with me. Since it was a stop light, the car was able to be restarted in time, but had it been a stop sign/non-stop oncoming traffic, the situation could have been much worse. Vehicle engine stopped while driving. This could lead to potential danger. Started about 1 year ago.
Stalling without warning, while driving, not throwing an engine code, shops don’t know what’s wrong. Checked every possible reason. Because of unknown failure car will die on freeway, stop lights, leaving an intersection. Very dangerous
I have purchased a 2015 Jeep Patriot from Sunrise car dealer it has been 3 months now I took it back to the dealer they couldn't find anything wrong with it the car cut off in the middle of traffic in the middle of the expressway with a big 18-wheeler behind me scared me to death. I can see why they sold it to me without any warranty. I took it to a car repairment person ran a test on it couldn't find anything wrong with it. No codes were found, we took the car for a ride in the air and the radio didn't cut him off but as soon as I got back in it down the road it cut off again several times before I made it home. Please tell me if I can take the car back and trade it in for another car. Help
The vehicles rpms drop to zero and then almost stalls out but picks up again and sometimes dies completely and you have to wait to restart the vehicle. No codes are available when it stalls out. It happens almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day
My truck goes into a code where the electric throttle control light, the engine light, and the tire traction light comes on. When the vehicle does this it reduces the speed to 35 no matter what or where you are. When you ho get the engine light checked, the code says it's a suction problem . Jeep started doing this in the colder weather than progressed to every other week
Throttle conrol sensor redlightning bolt on dash, after jeep seemed to loose power.check engine light. Available upon request. Had to drive home with virtually no exceleration with hazzards on due to unusual dangerous circumstances. Jeep problem not confirmed by dealer. Needs to be towed, for fear of safety. Disheartened, and without a vehicle hoping this can be affordable to fix or fixable at all.
For the past several months we are having trouble with the computer issue with this vehicle. We took it to a repair shop and they confirmed, in fact one of the mechanics had the very same problem, that the computer is malfunctioning. Here is what is happening...the car won't start and as you turn the key it just hesitates and you pray it will start. The A/C won't come on...the clock on the dash does not show the correct time...the "bell" dings when you exit the vehicle even though there is no key in the ignition, the lights have been turned off, etc. It won't stop dinging until you shut the door. Also, the rear window defogger indicator light is flashing like warning you to turn it off. Also, the CD player won't eject a CD. Then come a few days later and none of this happens. It is always a gamble when you get in the Jeep wondering if it will start. I feel, since this has happened to other Jeeps, there should be a recall on this particular situation.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL KEEPS ACTING UP. THE LIGHT FLASHES ON AS IT LOSES POWER THEN IT WILL RUN FINE FOR A LITTLE BIT AND DO IT AGAIN. THERE IS NO CODE. I KEEP GETTING HESITATIONS IN THE JEEP. IT WILL HICCUP ALONG THE HIGHWAY OR AS I TRY TO ACCELERATE. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TIME WHEN IT HAPPENS. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE WIRE HARNESS REPLACED IN MY JEEP A YEAR AGO.
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY ROAD AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING MY JEEP JUST STALLED. I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OFVTHE ROAD. I PUT CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY TO OFF POSITION. TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WOULD NOT, BUT CONTINUED TO TRY TO START BY ITSELF. WHICH IN TURN KILLED THE BATTERY. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED TODAY WHICH IS A SATURDAY AND MAYBE THEY WILL GET TO LOOK AT IT ON MONDAY. THIS REALLY SCARED ME AS I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. THANK GOD MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT WITH ME AS IT WAS ONLY 5 DEGREES AND SNOWING.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN MOTION IN HER 2015 PATRIOT WHEN SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL ICONS ALL CAME ON. SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND JERKING SLOWLY BACK AND FORTH. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A FIRESTONE AND THE SERVICE TECH SAID IT LOOKS LIKE FAILURE TO THE THROTTLE CONTROL. THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT CAREFULLY SINCE THE DRIVER LOSES CONTROL WITH NO POWER OF THE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. MANY PEOPLE REPORT THIS SAME PROBLEM ON CARPROBLEMZOO.COM
I BOUGHT MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT ON JULY 4, 2020. EVERY SINCE I'VE HAD MY TRUCK, THERE HAS BEEN PROBLEMS. I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO 4 MECHANICS AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A PROBLEM. ALSO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I GOT THE TRUCK FROM HAS NOT EVEN TRIED TO CONTACT ME BACK ABOUT THEM FIXING IT FOR ME. I'M STUCK WITH A VEHICLE THAT DOESN'T WORK AT THIS POINT.
VEHICLE STALLED AND LURCHED UPON ACCERALING FROM A TRAFFIC RED LIGHT. THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE LIGHT APPEARED ON DASHBOARD. PURCHASED WITH LOAN FOUR DAYS AGO. INITIALLY SAME THING OCCURRED WITH HIGH RPM AS WELL. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AT FIRST. FIFTH DAY OF DRIVING THIS REVEALED THE WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD. DEALER INDICATED RECALL FIXED PRIOR TO SALE. VEHICLE WARNING LIGHT STILL APPEARS. RPMS TOO HIGH ON ACCELERATION. REPAIR SHOP INDICATED THE RECALL DID NOT FIX ISSUE AND NEEDS TO HAVE JEEP DEALER CHECK IT.
TIPM IS FAULTY AFTER ONLY 79,000 MILES ON THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND INDEPENDENTLY RESTARTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. FOX CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT 3844 PLAINFIELD AVE NE, GRAND RAPIDS, MI 49525, WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY STARTED DROPPING TO 0 RPM DURING DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND SITUATIONS (SOME 30MPH, SOME 60MPH, SOME TURNING, SOME GOING STRAIGHT, BUT NEVER STALLED WHILE STOPPED) ON AND OFF FOR A WEEK WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR FAULT CODES PRESENT. DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 8 MONTHS PREGNANT GOING 65MPH THE JEEP STALLED OUT AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT SHOWED UP AS A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAULT, WE REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND NOW IT IS STUCK IN TIP START MODE AND WILL NOT START! THIS IS THE 3RD BRAND SENSOR THAT HAS BEEN TRIED. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE 2016 RECALL ISSUE (SAFETY RECALL S89 / NHTSA 16V-907 CRANKSHAFT CAMSHAFT SENSOR WIRE HARNESS) THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS SAFETY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2015 JEEP PATRIOT HAVING REOCCURRING SIMILAR ISSUES AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THIS IS A 1 OWNER PURCHASED BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN CARED FOR PROPERLY AND HAS HAD MORE ISSUES THAN A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD. STALLING OUT AT 65MPH ON THE FREEWAY WHILE 8 MONTHS PREGNANT COULD OF KILLED ME AND MY UNBORN CHILD. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO TAKE MY SON TO SCHOOL, WHEN WHILE ON A BUSY CITY STREET MY CAR STARTED TO JERK, AND SUDDENLY I WAS NO LONGER TO ACCERALATE. I WAS LITERALLY SCARED FOR MY LIFE AND MY CHILD, AS THE SPEED OF MY CAR SLOWED DOWN SO FAST, THAT I ALMOST GOT REARENDED. WHEN MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND COULD NO LONGER ACCERALATE, MY CHECK ENGINE, ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. IT WAS VERY ODD AS THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I READ AND SEEN THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING. I'M SURPRISED THAT NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED DUE TO THIS, I COULD NOT IMAGINE IF I WAS THE HIGHWAY BEHIND A BIG RIG AND MY SPEED QUICKLY DROPPED LIKE THAT OR IF SOMEONE WAS RIDING MY TAIL, THERE IS NO WAY THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN QUICK ENOUGH TO PREVENT FROM HITTING ME. I SEEN THAT PEOPLE WITH JEEPS HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE, REGARDLESS OF THE YEAR OF THE PATRIOT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PART.
A CIRCUIT WIRE CORRODED AND SHORTED THE TIPM. THIS HAPPENED AT HOME. THE CAR WAS STORED IN THE GARAGE. THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN CONNECTED TO THE DEALER DIAGNOSTICS IT SHOWED NO ERROR CODES. WHEN THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE WIRE AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE SHOP THE STARTER RAN NON STOP WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I AM UNAWARE IF THE CAR STARTER ALSO CAME ON WITHOUT THE KEY WHEN I WAS NOT NEAR THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE REMOTE START. IT IS DRIVEN ON PAVED RIDES AND STORED IN A GARAGE. I AM THE SECOND OWNER. LESS THAN TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS SHORTED TIPM THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT THE SAME DEALER FOR A FACTORY RECALL TO CHANGE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TO DO A COMPUTER SOFTWARE UPDATE.
