MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER ALWAYS OVERFLOWS WHEN I FILL IT UP. THE FUEL FILLS THE FILLER NECK AND OVERFLOWS. *TR UPDATED 12/07/11 *BF
THE VEHICLE GAS FILLER TUBE OVER FLOWS NEARLY EVERY FILL UP. GAS SPILLS OUT ONTO THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND. *JS
2005 JEEP WRANGLER, FUEL OVERFILLS EVERY TIME I GO TO THE PUMP. WHEN THE FUEL PUMP AUTO STOPS ABOUT A QUART OF FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE VEHICLE FILLER TUBE. THE FUEL HAS SPLASHED ALL OVER THE VEHICLE, AND MY CLOTHES. THIS OCCURS ON THE FIRST AUTO SHUT-OFF AND IS NOT DUE TO TOPPING-OFF THE TANK. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE JEEP WRANGLER AND IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET. *TR
HAVE HAD ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES BEGINNING IN AUGUST, 2010. CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS THAT HAVE BEEN PROVEN INACCURATE. HAVE REPLACED FAN MOTOR RESISTOR X 2, ELECTRICAL CONTROL UNIT X1, FAN BLOWER X1. WIRING IS MELTED (BURNT) AT LOCATIONS INDICATING FUSE SYSTEM/ WIRING HARNESS IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *TR
AT THE 65K MILE MARK EVERYTIME I FILL UP THE GAS WILL OVERFLOW AND SPILL OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE THERE ARE ALOT OF TJ OWNERS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO. IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE IF I HAVE THE TOP OFF MY 3 YEAR OLD SON SIDES RIGHT ABOVE THE FUEL FILLER TUBE AND GAS COULD SPLASH ONTO HIM. *TR
RAPID AND SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER IN JEEP WRANGLERS CAUSED BY RAPID FAILURE (CLOGGING) OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER. JEEP UNABLE TO REPLACE CATALYTIC DUE TO 5 MONTH BACK ORDER ON REPLACEMENT PRODUCT. *TR
EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO FILL MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER'S TANK TO FULL, GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE FUEL TUBE AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY. THIS IS AT LEAST 8OZ OF FUEL EASILY GUSHING OUT AND IS A FIRE HAZARD. I AM THE SECOND OWNER, AND HAVE ONLY OWNED IT SINCE 7/31/10. I HAVE FILLED THE TANK 4 TIMES AND ALL 4 TIMES THIS HAS OCCURRED. A GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED A WRANGLER FORUM WHERE COUNTLESS JEEP OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE, CHRYSLER WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE PAID FOR NUMEROUS GAS TANKS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE NOT CALLED CHRYSLER YET, BECAUSE I ALREADY KNOW THE RUNAROUND I WILL ENCOUNTER BASED ON OTHER'S EXPERIENCE, AND AM WAITING UNTIL I HAVE SOME TIME OFF NEXT WEEK TO DEVOTE TO THIS FRUSTRATING PHONE CALL. *TR

ITS NOT THE NOZZLE AS THIS HAPPENS AT ALL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. I FOUND ON JEEP FORUM THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL WRANGLERS. THE FUEL ALWAYS SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK WHEN ALLOWING THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF OF THE GAS PUMP. IT HAPPENS WITH EVERY GAS STATION I USE. I WOULD ESTIMATE ABOUT 1 TO 2 CUPS OF FUEL SPILL OUT AND ONTO THE GROUND EACH TIME I FILL UP. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT INVOLVES A FAULTY VALVE IN THE WRANGLER GAS TANK. JEEP NEEDS TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
DURING FUELING, WHEN THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE AUTOMATICALLY STOPS THE FLOW OF GASOLINE , FUEL SURGES BACK THROUGH THE FILLER TUBE AND VIGOROUSLY SPLASHES OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ANYTHING OR PERSON WITHIN 2 TO 3 FEET OF THE FUEL FILLER. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED. IT HAS SPILLED FUEL ON EVERY FILL UP (AT LEAST ONE CUP), DESPITE PRECAUTIONS (SLOWING FILLING RATE). MANUFACTURER AND DEALER HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP.
FUEL OVERFLOW ON 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. I HAVE DONE LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THIS AND IT SEEMS THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK. IT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR MODEL JEEPS. *TR
FUEL SPRAYS OUT AND RUNS OVER SIDE OF FUEL INLET WHEN TANK HAS FILLED. THIS HAPPENS ON 100% OF FILLUPS, ELIMINATING A DEFECTIVE PUMP NOZZLE FROM POSSIBLE CAUSES. SPILLED FUEL CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM A FEW TABLESPOONS TO HALF A LITER. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS EVERYTIME I FILL UP. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT GAS STATION I GO TO, THE GAS ALWAYS SPITS OUT OF THE TANK AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR BEFORE THE PUMP STOPS. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE TANK OR AN INTERNAL CHECK VALVE WHICH SHOULD PREVENT THIS. I CAN NEVER FILL THE GAS TANK UP FULL BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THE ONLY FIX I HAVE FOUND THROUGH RESEARCH IS A BRAND NEW GAS TANK, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. *TR
OVER FLOWING FUEL FILLER TUBE WHEN PUTTING IN GAS. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON MARCH 1ST, 2010. I BOUGHT IT USED. EVERY TIME I HAVE FILLED THE TANK AT A GAS STATION, IT OVERFLOWS. THE ONLY FIX IS TO NOT FILL IT UP, BUT I LIVE IN NEW JERSEY, AND GAS STATION ATTENDANTS PUMP OUR GAS AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO NOT DO IT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE THE CONTACT ADDED FUEL TO THE GASOLINE TANK HE NOTICED THAT IT SPILLED BACK OUT. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,493.
2005 JEEP WRANGLER EXPERIENCES HIGH SPEED WOBBLE EVERY DAY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 45 MPH. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP VEHICLES. INTERNET USERS REFER TO THE CONDITION AS "DEATH WOBBLE." I WOULD NOT WANT THAT NAME ASSOCIATED WITH ANY OF MY PRODUCTS. I GOT RID OF A 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT DID THE SAME THING. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY THAT THE BRAKES MUST BE APPLIED AT HIGH SPEED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR VEHICLES FOLLOWING AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT LET MY WIFE OR KIDS DRIVE THIS CAR. I DON'T WANT TO BE THE ONE WHO CONFIRMS THE DEATH WOBBLE MONIKER. THE FAILURE OCCURS DAILY. I HAVE BALANCED THE TIRES REPEATEDLY AND ROTATED AND CROSS ROTATED TIRES. EVEN BROKEN DOWN TIRES AND ROTATED THEM ON RIMS TO ACHIEVE OPTIMAL BALANCE. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER JEEP PRODUCT. THEY NEED TO STEP UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2005 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS 80% OF THE TIME I FILL UP. ONCE, IT KEPT RUNNING WITHOUT STOPPING AND SPILLING 5-10 GALLONS. THIS CAUSED ME TO SLIP IN THE GAS RESULTING IN WHIPLASH WHICH I AM STILL HAVING TO ADDRESS 2 MONTHS LATER. THIS IS A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD, SAFETY HAZARD, ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN AND MONETARY PROBLEM AND JEEP/CHRYSLER NEEDS TO OWN UP TO THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL. IF NOT, THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO FORCE THE ISSUE. *TR
GAS OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS OUT ON EVERY FUEL FILL-UP ATTEMPT.
WE OWN A 2005 JEEP TJ WRANGLER. WHEN HITTING A BUMP IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND YOU HAVE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE IT WILL STOP. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM AND FIND THAT IT IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF JEEP. WE HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER, SWAY BAR ENDS, TRACK BAR BUSHINGS, ALL NEW SHOCKS, BRAKES AND ROTORS, TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO AVAIL. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND WE CANNOT SEEM TO GET ANY ANSWERS. THE JEEP HAS 60,00 MILES ON IT AND IS COMPLETELY STOCK WITH NO MODIFICATIONS ON IT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS DRIVE, BUT MY ONLY VEHICLE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO MY JOB. MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER SUSPENSION AND STEERING SO EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE HAS BEEN AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS WRECK AND FOR A YOUNG DRIVER COULD BE FATAL. CAN YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION. WE ARE STUCK WITH WHAT WE HAVE, AS WE ARE STILL PAYING ON IT. WE CAN GET NO ANSWERS, EXCEPT KEEP REPLACING PARTS WITH BETTER QUALITY ONES. WHICH BRINGS THE QUESTIONS UP, WHY DID THEY USE LESS THAN GOOD QUALITY WHEN IT WAS BUILT. *TR

2006 GMC SIERRA, WAS TOWING A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER USING A TOW BAR. THE TRANSFER CASE OF THE JEEP ENGAGED CAUSING THE WHEELS OF THE JEEP TO LOCK UP. THE VEHICLE IN TOW SPUN AROUND, TRAVELED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. WHEN FUELING VEHICLE GAS SPLASHES OUT OF FUEL FILLER INTAKE. THIS HAPPENS ON JUST ABOUT EVERY FILL UP. IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IF YOU FILL UP SLOWLY OR AT NORMAL FILL SPEED. GASOLINE SPILLING ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SPILLING ONTO THE GROUND CAN'T BE A SAFE THING.
I OWN A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. I PURCHASED THE JEEP NEW. FOR ABOUT 8-12 MONTHS NOW WHEN I AM PUMPING MY GAS THE GAS OVERFLOWS INSTEAD OF SHUTTING OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. I HAVE TO TRY TO GUESS WHEN THE TANK IS ALMOST FULL AND STOP PUMPING SO THE GAS DOES NOT SPILL OUT ALL OVER ME. I HAVE HAD IT POUR ALL OVER MY LEGS AND SHOES. *TR

FUEL SPILLS/SPLASHES OUT WITH EVERY FILL-UP. NOZZLE POSITION OR RATE OF FILL DOES NOT CHANGE RESULT. HAVE ONLY EVER USED REGULAR UNLEADED FUEL, 87 GRADE W/ 10% OR LESS ETHANOL. APPROXIMATELY 1 CUP OF FUEL ENDS UP ON THE GROUND, THE BODY OF THE JEEP, SHOES, PANTS, AND/OR HANDS EVERY SINGLE TIME. THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH HAZARD.
WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF DOES NOT ENGAGE FROM THE VEHICLE ITSELF PROPERLY, CAUSING FUEL TO CONTINUE TO FLOW AND OUT AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO SPRAYS OUT AND ON THE OPERATOR FUELING THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM JEEP ABOUT THE ISSUE, BUT ACTION HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN BY THE MANUFACTURER. I REQUEST THIS BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS CLASSIFY GASOLINE AS A HAZARDOUS MATERIAL, KNOWN TO CAUSE HEALTH DEFECTS WHEN IN CONTACT WITH SKIN, AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS WHEN IMPROPERLY CONTAINED. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING FUEL SPIT-BACK DURING EVERY REFUELING OF MY VEHICLE. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT TANK AND THE PROBLEM HAS AGAIN OCCURRED ON THE REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK. I AM CONSIDERING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH 2005-2006 JEEP WRANGLERS AS WELL AS THE 2007-2008 JEEP WRANGLERS. THE GAS TANK ON MY 2005 WRANGLER X HAS AN ISSUE WITH OVERFLOWING OR SPURTING GAS INSTEAD OF SHUTTING OFF LIKE IT SHOULD. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT ALMOST EVERY GAS STATION I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SO I'M CERTAIN ITS NOT AN ISSUE WITH A PARTICULAR PUMP. I HAVE ALSO READ ABOUT OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TT
I BOUGHT MY 2005 JEEP BRAND NEW OFF THE LOT. WITHIN A YEAR I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE "DEATH WOBBLE". I HAD BEEN A VERY MODERATE DRIVER, AND HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE STABILIZER ARM, WHICH THE WARRANTY COVERED, BUT THE PROBLEM REMAINED. THE DEALER THEN ROTATED AND BALANCED MY TIRES AND ADJUSTED MY ALIGNMENT. THEY CHARGED ME OVER $200 FOR THAT. THIS SEEMED TO MASK THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A YEAR, THEN THE "DEATH WOBBLE" RETURNED. I TOOK THE JEEP TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS PROMPTLY SOLD 2 NEW TIRES (STOCK UNIROYAL TIGER PAWS @ $104 EACH) AND A STEERING DAMPENER. TOTAL COST THIS TIME WAS WELL OVER $500. THIS TOOK CARE OF THE WOBBLE FOR ABOUT A YEAR. NOW THE WOBBLE IS BACK, AND I'M WONDERING WHAT TO DO. I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER DEALER TO FLEECE ME AGAIN, AND I HEAR JEEP ISN'T ACKNOWLEDGING THIS WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM. THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. IN THE MEANTIME THOUGH, I LOVE MY JEEP AND WANT IT FIXED. I DON'T WANT IT TO KILL ME OR ANYONE ELSE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM? I CAN'T AFFORD $200-$500 EVERY YEAR ON BAND-AID SOLUTIONS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HE SHIFTED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, THE GEAR SHIFT LINK FELL OFF AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD TO CLIMB UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO SHIFT IT INTO GEAR; WHERE HE RAN THE RISK OF THE VEHICLE ROLLING OVER HIM. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THERE WERE NO RELATED COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY WOULD PAY A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25000.
WHEN FUELING VEHICLE TANK OVERFLOWS LEAVING GASOLINE ON SIDE OF VEHICLE, ON SELF (HANDS, CLOTHING, SHOES, ETC.). NOT ONLY IS THIS UNECONOMICAL, BUT UNSAFE, UNHEALTHY, AND ENVIRONMENTALLY UNSOUND. I ORIGINALLY BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR IN MAY OF 2010, THE DEALER CLAIMED THE EVAPORATION CANISTER WAS CLOGGED SO THEY REPLACED THE CANISTER AND FILTER FOR ALMOST $300. FOUR MONTHS LATER, IN OCTOBER OF 2010, I WAS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER. THEY THEN CLAIMED THE ROLL OVER VALVE WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION AND I NOW NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK FOR ALMOST $800. I DECLINED AND WAS CHARGED $100 FOR THEIR TROUBLE. I NOW DON'T EVER FILL THE TANK COMPLETELY. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ONLINE IN DIFFERENT FORUMS AND NOW HERE ON THIS WEBSITE. I DO BELIEVE JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS OBVIOUSLY ONGOING PROBLEM.
MY FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME I FILL UP, SPILLING GASOLINE ALL OVER MY JEEP, GAS CAP, AND GROUND. CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF STANDING BY GAS TANK WHILE FILLING UP. A VALVE INSIDE THE FUEL TANK IS FAULTY LEADING TO FUEL SPILLAGE AFTER THE GAS NOZZLE CLICKS OFF DUE TO PRESSURE BUILDUP. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR, AND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND IT SEEMS JEEP DOES NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING.
