At every fuel fill up, gasoline splashes back out onto the vehicle, the person filling the vehicle and creates a very unsafe puddle of gasoline on the ground. There is never a time that it does not happen. I would be readily available to make my vehicle available for inspection of this concern. Chrysler has issued recalls for this exact problem on several of their vehicle models all within the same time period of manufacturing. The fuel tank inlet check valve is a widely known and dangerous issue that should be seriously considered to repair the remaining vehicles on the road with this problem. It has been documented by numerous owners of Jeep Wranglers from 2005-2006 while the same issue forced a recall of the same Jeeps in later model years, 2007-2008. The Jeep has been inspected by a certified mechanic where I was notified of much of this information. With the amount of gasoline that spills out and the motorist re-enters their vehicle, there could be a static charge that could ignite the gasoline and cause extreme personal harm and property damage. There is no indication or warning sign to alert you that it is going to splash out gasoline. I am left to rarely fill my fuel tank to the maximum level to avoid being soaked in gasoline and irritating my skin or worse. I have owned this Jeep for going on 4 years and it has been a concern since day 1. I am noting this report of having been injured but the injuries at this point are only skin irritations as a result of gasoline coming in contact with our skin. I also noted the date as the first time this happened but as mentioned before, it happens or will happen at every fill up.
EVERY TIME I FILL THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE, WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE 'BURPS' OUT AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY CHECK VALVE INSTALLED FROM THE FACTORY THAT STOPS WORKING BECAUSE OF THE ETHANOL IN THE FUEL. JEEP HAS RECALLED LATER WRANGLERS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE BUT LEFT US 2005-2006 OWNERS STUCK WITH THE ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY, HEALTH, AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK FUEL SPILLS OUT THE FILLER NECK CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT FUEL SPILL. THE JEEP IS STATIONARY AND ON LEVEL GROUND AT THE GAS STATION
GAS TANK OVERFLOW. ANYTIME I FILL MY TANK, A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SHOOTS BACK OUT OF THE TANK, DRIPPING DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR, AND OFTEN SPLASHING ME OR GAS ATTENDANT. NOT ONLY IS THIS DANGEROUS, IT IS ALSO DAMAGING THE PLASTIC AND PAINT ON MY CAR, AS WELL AS WASTING GAS.
WHILE FILLING WITH FUEL, IT WILL SPIT FUEL BACK OUT AND WILL NOT FILL WITH GAS PROPERLY. HAVE TRIED GOING AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE ON THE FUEL LEVER WHILE FUELING AND WILL STILL SPIT GAS BACK OUT LIKE THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE FUEL FILLER HOSE AND FLAP INSIDE IT.
WHEN PUTTING GAS INTO THE JEEP, THE NOZZLE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AND GAS OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE GAS LINE (AT THE POINT WHERE THE CAP GOES ON).
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, GASOLINE ROUTINELY BACK FLOWS AS IT GETS FULL. THIS CAUSES GASOLINE TO SPILL OVER THE FUEL FILLER DOOR AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS AND SINCE 51K MILES WERE ON IT. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN REFUELING.
GAS OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS OUT OF VEHICLE WHEN FUELING.
WHEN HAVING TO FILL UP ON GAS IT IS OVERFLOWING. EVEN IF YOU SET THE CONTROL ON THE PUMP, WHEN YOU PULL OUT THE NOZZLE, GAS IS SPILLING ALL OVER THE JEEP, FLOOR AND HAS EVEN HAS SPILLED ALL OVER MYSELF. THIS FULL TANK NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL CONSUMERS.
AS THE FUEL TANK IS BEING FILLED WITH FUEL AND THE FUEL PUMP CUTS OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, THE TANK ALLOWS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL TO BE "BURPED" OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER ONTO THE VEHICLE, GROUND, AND THE PERSON FILLING THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED AT EVERY FUEL DEPOT.
WHEN YOU FILL THE TANK WITH GAS, THE PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF RESULTING IN GAS LEAKING ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE GROUND. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHERS THAT HAVE THIS SAME VEHICLE. IMAGE READ IT IS A FAULTY DESIGN AND FAULTY IVC .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE PUMPING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROLLOVER CHECK VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

LIKE ALL THE OTHER JEEP WRANGLERS MINE CANNOT FILL UP WITH GAS WITHOUT THE GAS OVERFLOWING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THIS CAUSES POLLUTION, DAMAGES THE FINISH OF THE CAR AS WELL AS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE MAKE THEM RECALL THIS GAS ISSUE AS THE FLAPPER IN THE LINE GETS STUCK OPEN. WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS IT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY STOP FILLING WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, WHICH RESULTS IN GAS SQUIRTING OUT OF THE FILLER. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I GET GAS. GETTING GAS ON MYSELF, MY CLOTHES, MY SHOES AND DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON MY TO DO LIST. JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL OR NOTICE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS A FIRE HAZARD AND IS NOT SAFE FOR WHOMEVER IS PUMPING GAS.
EVERYTIME, WHILE FILLING MY TANK FUEL WILL SPILL OUT AS THE AUTO SHUT OFF ENGAGES ON THE PUMP. FUEL WILL SPILL OUT ONTO THE GROUND, MY CLOTHES, MY HANDS AND THE SIDE OF MY JEEP. I AM NOT ATTEMPTING TO TOP OFF MY TANK WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURS, IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK HOWEVER I HOLD THE HANDLE WHEN THE AUTO SHUT OFF ENGAGES.
