GAS TANKS SPILLS FUELS RIGHT AFTER THE CLICK. NO "TOPPING OFF" OF TANK. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO DO A COMPLETE FILL-UP OF FUEL, THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AS IT SHOULD, AND THEN A MODERATE AMOUNT OF FUEL WILL "BURP" OUT OF THE OPENING. IT SPILLS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON TO THE GROUND. UNSAFE, UNPLEASANT, AND ENVIRONMENTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM. THE JEEP HAD NO ISSUES FOR OVER TWO YEARS, SINCE FALL OF 2009 IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING, WILL DO IT EVERYTIME I DO A FULL FILL-UP, NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION I USE. I NO LONGER DO FULL FILL-UPS AS A RESULT, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO PROPERLY TRACK FUEL ECONOMY. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 WRANGLER X WITH 37K ON IT, AND FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT HAS ILLUMUNATED AND IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE STILL UNDER WARRENTY AND THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIX IT OR EVEN MENTION THAT IT EXISTED, A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT ONLY THAT BUT ALSO THE CRUIZ CONTROL AND HORN DO NOT WORK EITHER. CAN YOU SAY CHRYSLER NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND ADJUST ACCORDINGLY WITH THE FAULTY CLOCKSPRING DEAL? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING OVER SMALL BUMPS THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A LOSS OF CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND A TECHNICIAN COINED THE TERM "DEATH WOBBLE" TO EXPRESS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS MODEL. HE THEN ADDED THAT THEY HAVE NOT DEVELOPED A REMEDY FOR THE FAILURE. DEATH WOBBLE ON MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. MY WIFE AND I HIT A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY THE THING STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OTHER TIMES SINCE. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, AUTO SHUT OFF NO LONGER PREVENTS FUEL SPILLING WHEN TANK IS FULL. NOZZLE SHUTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY, BUT APPROXIMATELY 1/2 QUART OF FUEL IS SPILLED ONTO THE BODY, FENDER FLARE, BUMPER, AND GROUND. OCCURS AT EVERY FUEL FILL-UP SINCE REACHING 46,000 MILES (48,000 NOW, SO APPROXIMATELY 10 OCCURRENCES). *TR
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER WITH A 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES THAT WHILE STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION SUCH AS AT A STOP SIGN THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR. IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS SO MUCH THAT I AM HAVING TO START IN SECOND GEAR AS TO AVOID THE LOUD HORRIFYING SOUND THAT IT MAKES AND, MORE IMPORTANTLY, AVOID SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION TRYING TO GET IT BACK IN GEAR SO I DON'T GET KILLED BY ONCOMING VEHICLES. THE PROBLEM WITH STARTING IN SECOND GEAR IS #1 I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO AND #2 SOMETIMES IT WANTS TO STALL STARTING IN THAT GEAR ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE STARTING ON A HILL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS 2 TIMES, BUT THEY TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS EVER HAPPENING. I GUESS THEY NEVER LOOK ON THIS WEBSITE. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO COMPLAIN, BUT I NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT NHTSA NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IF THAT HASN'T HAPPENED ALREADY. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING GETS FIXED? THE WORD SAFETY IS IN THE TITLE. BE PROACTIVE NOT REACTIVE FOR ONCE AND INVESTIGATE THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM BEFORE ANYONE DIES. *TR

WHENEVER I GO TO WORK I HAVE TO GO UP DOWN A MOUNTAIN, WHEN I BRAKE THE FRONT WHEELS OF MY JEEP WOBBLE OUT OF CONTROL, SHAKING MY STEERING WHEEL OUT OF CONTROL. WHEN I PUT ON MY BRAKES IT GETS WORSE, I PULLED OVER BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE WHEELS WERE GOING TO COME OFF. WHEN I DID A MAN WHO SAW ME COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN SAID HE COULD SEE MY WHEELS WOBBLE HE THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO FALL OFF!! HE MOVED A BAR IN THE FRONT OF MY JEEP AND SAID THIS SHOULDN'T MOVE AND TO HAVE IT TOWED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR! THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THREE DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG! I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES, TIRES AND HAD A FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND IT STILL DOES IT. I TRIED TO TRADE IT IN BUT I'M UPSIDE DOWN ON MY LOAN, SO I CHANGED MY JOB BECAUSE HONEST TO GOD I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE. I HAVE TOLD MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME AND I DIE IN MY JEEP PLEASE LOOK INTO IT. I'M AFRAID OF MY CAR!!! AND THERE IS NOTHING AT ALL I CAN DO...HOW SAD! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL CHIMING SOUND. THE DEALER MADE AN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH ANY FURTHER REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,165 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,906. KMJ
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA UNLIMITED. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOBBLED FROM SIDE TO SIDE AFTER DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE WOBBLING SEEMED TO WORSEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE CONTINUED ALTHOUGH BEING REPAIRED FOUR TIMES FOR THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,291.
THIS IS THE FIRST OF THREE SIMILAR INCIDENTS CONCERNING TWO DIFFERENT JEEPS AND CLOCKSPRING FAILURE. IN THIS INCIDENT THEY ADVISED THAT IT WAS CAUSED FROM A BIG JARRING. IN THE SECOND INCIDENT THEY SAID DUST. THE THIRD ONE, IN A SEPARATE 2008 WRANGER I REPLACED MYSELF. THEY CHARGE APPROXIMATELY $150 FOR LESS THEN A MINUTE OF DIAGNOSTIC AND APPROXIMATELY $250 FOR A PART THAT COSTS LESS THEN $180. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FLEECING OF THE PUBLIC AND NEEDS THE ATTENTION OF YOUR AGENCY. THERE IS A WAY TO DISABLE THE THE AIRBAG SOUND AND BECAUSE OF THESE COSTS IT COULD/WILL LEAD TO A DEATH FROM FAILURE.
THE VEHICLE ROUTINELY SPILLS LARGE QUANTITIES OF GASOLINE WHENEVER IT IS FILLED WITH GAS. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE "TOPPING OFF" BUT OCCURS WHENEVER THE TANK IS FILLED UNTIL THE PUMP HANDLE AUTOMATICALLY STOPS AT ANY STATION IN MULTIPLE STATES AND EVERY SINGLE TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING IN FIRST GEAR. THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY AND MAKE CLANKING NOISES WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED THREE SEPARATE REPAIR REMEDIES TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT IN POSSESSION OF THE DEALER FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
FUEL SPILLS OUT OF FILLER NECK WITH AUTO FILL, WILL LOOSE UP TO A PINT OF FUEL DOWN SIDE OF VEHICLE AND ON TO THE GROUND. STARTED AFTER ABOUT 18 MONTHS OF USE, DEALER NEVER HEARD OF PROBLEM AND HAD NO IDEA OF HOW TO FIX. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA (NA). THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRASHED BY A MOTORIST WHO FAILED TO YIELD AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HIS FACE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT BASED ON THE VEHICLE TRAVELING 45 MPH AND THE LOCATION OF THE IMPACT, THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE DOOR HINGE, HOOD, AND THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS PAINT WAS UNEVEN AND EXHIBITED RUST UNDERNEATH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR HINGES WERE RUSTING AND THE DOOR HINGES WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANGER NOTIFIED A REPRESENTATIVE FROM CHRYSLER AND HE AGREED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE IF THE FAILURE WOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER SINCE HE WAS UNABLE TO MAKE THAT DECISION. THE REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMED THAT NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE OFFERED SINCE THE FAILURE WAS SURFACE RUST CAUSED BY THE ENVIRONMENT. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER; HOWEVER, SHE HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY FOLLOW UP CORRESPONDENCE REGARDING HER CLAIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
EVERYTIME I REFUEL, GASOLINE WILL OVERFLOW AND SPILL ONTO THE GROUND. THE PUMP WILL NOT STOP THE FLOW OF FUEL IN TIME TO PREVENT SPILLAGE. I'VE TRIED TO SLOW THE FLOW AS IT NEARS A FULL TANK, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED. THE ONLY THING THAT WILL STOP THE FUEL FROM OVERFLOWING IS SIMPLY NOT FILLING THE TANK COMPLETELY FULL. SUNDAY APRIL 4TH, 2009 THE TEMPERATURE WAS A HIGH OF 73 AND ON APRIL 5TH, 2009 THE HIGH WAS 49. I OWN A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA WITH APPROX. 27K MILES. AFTER OUT RUNNING ERRANDS AND USING THE DEFROST,I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE WIND SHIELD. WHEN I NOTICED THE CRACK IT WAS APPROX. 3 " LONG, AND RAN FROM BOTTOM TO TOP, SINCE THEN IT HAS BEGUN TO CURVE TOWARDS THE DRIVERS SIDE BY ABOUT 1". I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO DEALERS AND BOTH HAVE DISMISSED IT HAS A ROCK CHIP. ONE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT EVEN THE SMALLEST ROCK CHIP IS ENOUGH TO CRACK THE WINDSHIELD. HE TRACED THE CRACK WITH A WRITING PEN AND DETERMINED IT WAS NOT A STRESS ISSUE BUT A "ROCK HIT". THE OTHER SERVICE MANAGER RUBBED HER FINGER OVER THE CRACK AND DETERMINED IT TO BE A "ROCK HIT", BOTH SERVICE MANAGERS DID STATE THAT THE "ROCK HIT" COULD HAVE BEEN ALREADY PRESENT AND THE CURRENT TEMPERATURE CHANGE COULD HAVE CAUSED THE CRACK. ONE SERVICE MANAGER DID SAY THAT IF THE "ROCK HIT" WAS NOT PRESENT HE COULD FIX IT UNDER THE CURRENT WARRANTY. I CAME HOME A DID A GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2007 JEEP AND IT'S WINDSHIELD. *TR
2007 JEEP WRANGLER SARAHA - SMOKE/STEAM COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE FRONT OF THE HOOD (TWICE). I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY "COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAKS" YESTERDAY, MY TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING, STALLING ME IN THE PATH OF ONLINE TRAFFIC. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND I AM A SINGLE MOTHER THAT IS AFRAID FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN WHO ARE PASSENGERS IN THIS VEHICLE. EACH TIME I VOICE MY CONCERNS TO MY JEEP DEALERSHIP THEY "CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG." I KNOW THAT VEHICLE AS WELL AS YOU WOULD YOUR OWN BODY, AND THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG. *TR
MY JEEP WRANGLER 2007 SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY THAT I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE IT. I AM AFRAID THAT I MAY KILL SOMEONE OR MY SELF OR MY KID. IT IS THE SCARIEST THING EVER. AT THREE (3) DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I ALMOST CRASH. I HEARD SO MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, SO WHY CHRYSLER ARE NOT DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM? THEY TRIED TO TELL ME ITS FRONT END OR A TIRE ISSUE. I HAVE CHANGED MY STEERING DAMPER, MY STABILIZER BAR AND BUSHINGS. HAD IT ALIGNED AND BOUGHT NEW TIRES AND BALANCE. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER AS OF THIS MORNING. AND THEY ARE TRYING TO STICK ME WITH A BILL FOR ANY REPAIRS DONE TO RECTIFY THIS WOBBLING ISSUE. I DO NOT THINK THAT I, THE CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR THIS MANUFACTURE DEFECT. $40, 000.00 IS NOT CHEAP, THEY MADE A KILLING FROM ME AND NOW THAT I HAVE SIX MONTHS LEFT, NOBODY WANTS TO ASSIST OR DO THE RIGHT THING. UPON DRIVING OVER AN UNEVEN AREA OF PAVEMENT (I.E. TRAIN TRACKS, EXPANSION JOINT, ETC.) STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT WHEELS SHAKE VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH. FIRST OCCURRENCE IN MARCH 2009 AT 24,575 MILES, DEALER DETERMINED IT WAS THE STEERING DAMPENER, REPLACED. SECOND OCCURRENCE IN SEPTEMBER 2010 AT 27,929 MILES, DEALER REPLACED THE DAMPENER AND UPDATED MOUNTING BRACKET. THIRD OCCURRENCE APRIL 2011 AT 33,845 MILES (ONLY 5,916 MILES ON SECOND REPLACEMENT). DEALER REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS OVER THE 12 MONTH PART WARRANTY. CONTACTED CHRYSLER COMPLAINT RESOLUTION, SAME ANSWER. THEY STATED THEY CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY REFUSED REPAIR DUE TO "EXCESSIVE OFF-ROAD USAGE". VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN USED OFF ROAD SINCE THE SECOND REPLACEMENT AND THE DEALER HAS NOT SEEN THE VEHICLE SINCE THEN. *TR
FUEL SPLASH BACK WHEN PUMP SET ON AUTO SHUT OFF, LOWEST SETTING. WILL LOOSE 2 - 6 OZ. FUEL ON TO SIDE OF VEHICLE AND OFTEN ENOUGH TO SPLASH ON DRIVE. DEALER DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ONGOING PROBLEM.
THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAS FAILED 4 TIMES. THE VEHICLE IS NOW 21 MONTHS OLD WITH 19,000 MILES. THIS HAS BECOME A SAFETY HAZARD AS I WAS IN PHILADELPHIA TWICE WHEN IT FAILED ON A WEEKEND AND HAD TO TRAVEL OVER 100 MILES TO GET THE JEEP HOME. SOMEBODY IS GOING TO GET HURT OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IF THIS HAPPENED TO A WOMEN I HATE TO SEE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN SINCE IT MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. *TR
DRIVING TO ST. JAMES, NY AFTER A WEEKEND IN NJ IN SNOWY AND COLD CONDITIONS WITH NEW PUPPY. AT 7:00AM, ABOUT ONE HOUR INTO THE DRIVE, WHILE ON LONG ISLAND EXPRESSWAY, RADIO WENT OFF, LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF, CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND LOSE POWER. I PULLED OFF THE NEAREST EXIT AND IT STALLED AS I COASTED INTO A GAS STATION. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES, THE CAR STARTED AGAIN, AND I TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO THE HUNTINGTON SERVICE CENTER ABOUT 8 MILES AWAY. THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE OVER 25 MPH, AND AFTER ABOUT TWO MILES BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED REVVING THE ENGINE. NOTHING CHANGED AND THE CAR STALLED. I WAITED IN THE COLD AND SNOW FOR AAA TO TOW ME TO THE HUNTINGTON SERVICE CENTER. SERVICE CENTER COMMUNICATED TO ME THAT THE CAR HAD NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BASED ON THE COMPUTER CHECK. THAT A TECHNICIAN WOULD TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE WITH ME. THE PROBLEM DIDN?T HAPPEN ON THE TEST DRIVE. UPON RETURN TO THE SERVICE CENTER, I INSISTED THAT THEY CONTINUE TO SEARCH FOR THE PROBLEM ON THE GROUNDS THAT MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED IN AFTER LOSING CONTROL ON THE HIGHWAY. SERVICE MANAGER REFUSED. I ASKED HIM TO EXPLAIN CHRYSLER?S RESPONSIBILITY IN THE MATTER AND HE SAID IN AN UNKIND TONE THAT I COULD GO TO ARBITRATION BUT THE PROBLEM WOULD HAVE TO OCCUR IN FRONT OF THE ARBITRATOR, SO IT PROBABLY WOULDN?T WORK IN MY FAVOR. RETURNED TO SERVICE CENTER AT 29,308 MILES BECAUSE THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE GOING ON AND OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. INSISTED THAT THEY FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR AND FIX IT. SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD CALL THE CHRYSLER TECH SUPPORT TEAM TO HELP WITH SOLVING THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED THAT THE PROBLEMS CAUSED ON MARCH 3 AND MARCH 4 WERE BECAUSE THE BATTERY WAS LOW AND THE ESP WAS ACTIVATING PREMATURELY. THEY STATED LOW BATTERY WAS CAUSING THE POWER FAILURE AND THE ESP WAS CAUSING THE SHAKING OF THE CAR. SERVICE CENTER REPLACED THE BATTERY AND FIX THE MODULE THAT CONTROLLED ESP. *TR
ON MARCH 3, 2009, MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I SLOWED TO MAKE A TURN, IT WOULD DING AT ME AND GO OFF AND THEN ON. WHEN I'M DROVE NORMALLY, AND USUALLY STRAIGHT, THE LIGHT JUST STAYED ON WITH NO DING. THROUGH RESEARCH, I'VE COME TO FIND THAT MY CLOCKSPRING WAS FAULTY AND MAY NOT DEPLOY MY AIRBAG IF I WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I HAD THIS FIXED THROUGH CHRYSLER. THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. NOW, ON JAN. 15, 2011 WITH 103,769 MILES, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND DID THE SAME THING AS PREVIOUSLY. I WENT BACK TO THE SAME DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT, ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME, AGAIN, IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN. CONSIDERING THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND I HAD TO PAY BOTH TIMES. IF I DIDN'T GET THIS FIXED, AND I GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT, MY AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
AT BETWEEN 35-40 MPH, WHEN A BUMP IS HIT WITH ONE WHEEL BEFORE THE OTHER A SHAKING BEGINS IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. AT TIMES THIS SHAKING IS SO VIOLENT AND SUSTAINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BE BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP. THERE IS SOME KIND OF APPARENT HARMONIC OSCILLATION THAT IS BEING ESTABLISHED FOR IT TO BE AS VIOLENT AND SUSTAINED AS IT IS. I INITIALLY REPORTED THIS TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN 2008, AFTER THE STEERING STABILIZER BRACKET BROKE OFF THE FRONT AXLE OF THE JEEP. I WAS TOLD THAT MY PROBLEMS WERE BECAUSE THE LIFT KIT THAT WAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A MOPAR APPROVED KIT. JEEPS RESOLUTION WAS FOR ME TO PURCHASE A NEW FRONT AXLE AT MY COST AND REPLACE THE LIFT KIT THAT WAS ON THE VEHICLE. THE LIFT WAS PROFESSIONALLY INSTALLED AND IS ONE OF THE TOP KITS ON THE MARKET. SINCE THIS TIME, I HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER ABOUT EVERY 10K-12K MILES. EACH TIME THE I DO, THIS REDUCES THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. EACH TIME I HAVE DISCUSSED THE ISSUE WITH A JEEP SERVICE CENTER, I'VE BEEN TOLD THAT THIS IS A LIFT ISSUE AND NOT JEEP'S PROBLEM. FROM THE MANY COMPLAINTS THAT I CONTINUE TO READ ON JEEP FORUMS IN WHICH PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE, I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE DESIGN OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION/STEERING SYSTEM ON THE JK. I HAVE READ REPORTS FROM PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS WITH THE STOCK SUSPENSION, AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF LIFT SYSTEMS AND TIRE/RIM CONFIGURATIONS. IF THERE IS SOME WAY TO FIX THIS THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF, THEY SHOULD BE DISCLOSING IT TO THE OWNERS OF THE VEHICLES, IF NOT THEY SHOULD MAKE EFFORTS TO INVESTIGATE AND TRY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
IN JULY OF 2008 I EXPERIENCED WHAT JEEP OWNERS ARE CALLING "THE DEATH WOBBLE" IN MY 2007 WRANGLER. WHILE PASSING A CAR I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD AND MY WHOLE FRONT END OF MY JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE JEEP WAS BROUGHT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER(COVERED UNDER WARRANTY). ON FEB 9TH 2009 WHILE DRIVING SOUTH ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 TO 70 MPH I AGAIN HIT A SMALL BUMP AND THE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND I COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR AND CAME TO A SLOW STOP. THEN I NOTICED A STATE TROOPER BEHIND ME. WHEN I FINALLY MANAGED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER HE EXITED HIS VEHICLE AND APPROACH MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND ASKED IF I WAS OK AND STATED THAT HE NEVER HAD SEEN A VEHICLE EVER ACT LIKE THAT, THAT HE THOUGHT THE WHEELS WERE GOING TO FALL OFF. THE TROOPER COULD SEE THAT I WAS VISIBLY SHAKING AND SCARED. I DECLINED TO MAKE A REPORT WHICH I REGRET DOING. AT 65-70MPH I COULD NOT CONTROL MY VEHICLE. I CALL THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND SCHEDULED AND APPOINTMENT FOR MY JEEP ON FEB 18TH 2009 AS THAT WAS THE EARLIEST TIME THEY COULD GET ME IN. THE DEALERSHIP IS GOING TO REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPER AGAIN. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ JUST ON THE NHTSA WEB SITE THIS IS A PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER CORP DOESN'T SEEM TO WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT..DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE KILLED BEFORE THIS AUTO CORP. THE MANUFACTURER STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,000.

2007 JEEP WRANGLER 2DR. 4X4..APPROX MILEAGE 27,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING A RELATIVELY LOW SPEED (30 -45 MPH), THE VEHICLE ENCOUNTERS A BUMP IN THE ROAD, OR AN UNEVEN SPOT, A VIOLENT SHAKING BEGINS AND IS UNCORRECTABLE UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO A NEAR COMPLETE STOP. DRIVING TO WORK ON A COLD SNOWY DAY FROM HUNTINGTON, NY TO ST. JAMES, NY. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE LIGHTS FLASHED ON, CAR SEEMED TO HAVE LESS PICK UP, RADIO WENT OFF. MINUTES LATER, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND GAS GAVE IT NO POWER. LOST POWER IN STEERING AND BRAKES AS WELL. DRIFTED INTO A SNOWBANK ON THE SIDE OF EDGEWOOD AVE. IN SMITHTOWN, NY NEXT TO A BUSY SCHOOL DRIVEWAY. WOULD NOT RESTART. WHEN TOW TRUCK ARRIVED STILL WOULD NOT START. AFTER THREE DAYS, DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT BASED ON THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE, THEY WOULD REPLACE THE WIRELESS CONTROL MODULE. A SLIGHT TREMOR RADIATING FROM STEERING COLUMN THEN THROUGH THE ENTIRE JEEP. SO INTENSE THAT IT FEELS LIKE THE TIRES ARE TURNING SIDEWAYS, MAINTAINING CONTROL, STEERIN AND BRAKING EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. REGULAR BRAKING DOES NOT HELP. HARS BRAKE ONLY. HAVEN'T COME TO COMPLETE STOP. I'VE ALWAYS STOPPED, PUT BACK INTO PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. THINKING MAYBE SOME SORT OF RESET MAY OCCUR. IT HELPS ME TO RESET MY OWN SELF ANYWAYS! VERY SCARY! I TRIED TO PAY ATTENTION AFTER THIS 'FIX' AND DETERMINED THAT BRAKING (EVEN JUST A TAP) STARTS IT AND ANY SURFACE CHANGE IN THE ROAD OLDER JEEPS HAD A SIMPLY FIX, TIGHTENED A BOLT ON STEERING COLUM. MY SON IS IN TRAINING, DID A VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE STEERING COLUM. SAYS SEEMED TO ME SOME EXTRA PLAY, NOTHING LIKE A BOLT LOOSE BUT DARK OUT, MULTIPLE COMPONENTS ALONG COLUMN, UNSURE WITHOUT A LENGTHIER INSPECTION. NOTHING BY SIGHT. WE STOPPED DRIVING AND TOOK IT IN FOR INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT OF FRONT END BALLJOINTS. TIRES HAVE AN UNFAMILIAR PATTERN OF WEAR. USING FACTORY RECOMMEND TIRES, SIZE AND PRESSURE. VERY LITTLE OFF ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO FAILURES. THE DEALER TURNED OFF THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 23,000.

THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT BEING DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER FILED REFERENCE NUMBER 18688651 AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. SHE WILL HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
VEHICLE CONTINUES TO LOSE POWER WHILE IN MOTION. AS A RESULT THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER BREAKING AS WELL AS STEERING. CHRYSLER HAS INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES INCLUDING AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ONE LAST FIX UNDER THE LEMON LAW STATUTE IN FLORIDA. YET THE CONDITION PERSISTS. CHRYSLER HAS DETERMINED THAT THEY WILL ONLY AGREE TO SETTLE THE OUTSTANDING ISSUE WITH THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION IF THEY ARE PROVIDED WITH YET ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A STEERING DAMPER PROBLEM ( A KNOWN "TECHNICAL RECALL") AND A "WEAK DAMPER" (PART # 02152001) WAS REPLACED WITH A "HEAVY-DUTY" STEERING DAMPER (PART # 52060058AE). THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TODAY AND DRIVEN WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT/INJURY BUT DID NOT. THE DRIVER IS NOT AWARE THAT JEEP HAS EVERY ISSUED A RECALL CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS DID NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH COVERAGE SO THE DEALER ADJUSTED THEM; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,688.
STARTING IN LATE 2008, WHEN REFUELING MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER JK, THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF AT GAS PUMPS DOESN'T SHUT OFF WHEN MY TANK IS FULL CAUSING FUEL TO OVERFLOW AND OCCASIONAL SPLASH OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK OF THE VEHICLE. IF I DO NOT SHUT OFF THE GAS PUMP MANUALLY BEFORE IT IS FULL, THIS HAS OCCURRED EVERY TIME I PUT FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE HAS RESULTED IN MINOR TO SIGNIFICANT FUEL SPILLAGE INCLUDING SOAKING MY HANDS AND FEET IN FUEL AT VARIOUS TIMES. OTHER THAN MONITORING AND STOPPING THE PUMP DURING REFUELING, I HAVE TAKEN NO ACTION TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE EXPERIENCED ON MANY OCCASIONS, SOMETHING CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE." WHEN DRIVING ANYWHERE BETWEEN 40MPH & 65MPH, IF I HIT A POT-HOLE (ESPECIALLY ON A CURVE), THE FRONT-END OF MY JEEP STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. IN A FEW INSTANCES, I WAS ON A HIGHWAY THAT DID NOT HAVE A SHOULDER AND I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE READ THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE WHO ALSO DRIVE JEEP WRANGLERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE MADE FROM 2005-2008. WHEN I ORIGINALLY COMPLAINED TO JEEP/CHRYSLER, I WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY INSISTED I JUST NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT AND NEW TIRES. THIS ONLY MASKED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. BY THE TIME I WENT BACK TO JEEP, I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEREFORE, COULD NOT FILE A COMPLAINT UNDER THE LEMON LAW. THIS HAS GIVEN ME ANXIETY TO THE POINT WHERE I NOW HAVE AN ULCER FROM HAVING TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK 25 MILES EACH WAY. PLEASE HELP, BEFORE I OR OTHERS DIE FROM THIS ISSUE. *TR
