TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WHEN HE DROVE OVER A ROAD BUMP AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE WHEN IT WOULD SHAKE OR WOBBLE. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
LEAKING SOFT TOP ON MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. LEAKS FROM THE RIGHT AND LEFT FRONT DOORS OVER THE DOOR HANDLES. *TR
TRANSMISSION OVER HEATED AND PURGED FLUID ON TO HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD/CAT CONVERTER. JEEP DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE BUT WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO CAUSE ALARM IT WAS SEVERELY SMOKING ENOUGH TO ALERT OTHERS DRIVERS WHO WAVED ME OVER. ITS BEEN HAVING SHIFT PROBLEMS SINCE PURCHASED NEW IN 07/07, INCLUDING SEVER SHUDDERING BETWEEN 1-2 SHIFTS AND NOT DOWNSHIFTING UNLESS HOLDING THE THROTTLE DOWN FOR 2-4 SECONDS MAKING IT REALLY HARD TO KEEP UP IN REGULAR TRAFFIC. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 6,200. LOCAL DEALER KEEPS FLASHING THE COMPUTER WITH SOFTWARE UPGRADES BUT NOTHING IMPROVES CONDITIONS. CURRENT WORD FROM DEALER IS THAT "CONDITION COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED / NO 'CODES' STORED". *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE TANK WILL OVERFILL EVERY TIME THAT THE FUEL HOSE HANDLE IS ALLOWED TO CUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY. GAS WILL THEN SPLASH DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ON TO THE GROUND. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER THAT LEAKS.ALOT. I HAVE HAD IT IN 8 TIMES FOR REPAIRS AND IT ALWAYS STILL LEAKS. THEY HAVE TRIED LITTLE FOAM STRIPS AND EVAN A NEW TOP ALL TO NO AVAIL. *TR
2007 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER STATES CLUTCH FAILURE WITH VEHICLE *TGW CONSUMER SENT COPY OF LETTER *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT. TIRE VALVE STEM FAILURES, STEM MDL TR-413, ORIGINAL FACTORY WHEELS/TIRES ON 2007 JEEP WRANGLER PURCHASED IN FEBRUARY 2007. RT FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT WHILE PARKED. NOTICED THE VALVE STEM WAS SEPARATING. CHECK OTHER TIRES AND LEFT FRONT STEM WAS ALSO SPLIT AND HISSED WHEN FLEXED. JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID TO CONTACT TIRE MANUFACTURER WHEN MY SON CALLED THEM. I CALLED AND LEFT MSG FOR DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER WHO NEVER RETURNED CALL. TOOK VEHICLE TO A LOCAL TIRE SHOP AND ALL FIVE STEMS REPLACED. ALL FIVE ARE MDL TR-413. VEHICLE OWNED BY MY SON. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP WITH FUEL AT THE GAS STATION, WHEN THE TANK GETS NEAR FULL, THE FUEL PUMP WILL SHUT OFF, BUT NOT UNTIL FUEL SPITS BACK OUT OF THE FUEL FILL TUBE, OUT ONTO THE OUTSIDE OF THE JEEP AND INTO THE GROUND. THERE IS A LIFETIME WARRANTY RECALL FOR JEEP WRANGLERS FOR THIS PROBLEM, THAT STARTS WITH VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AFTER MARCH 1, 2007. HOWEVER, OUR VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN NOVEMBER, 2006. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA. WHEN THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE FORWARD ALTHOUGH THE RPMS CONTINUED TO INCREASE. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 45 MINUTES OR AN HOUR. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE ON 12 OCCASIONS. EVENTUALLY, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE GEAR. THE DEALER FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION AND MADE OTHER ADJUSTMENTS INCLUDING REBUILDING THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE NO LONGER OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. SHE ALSO WROTE THEM A LETTER REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,170. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AREAS ACCUMULATED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER. THE FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHENEVER IT RAINED. THERE WAS APPROXIMATELY TWO GALLONS OF WATER COLLECTED ON THE FLOOR AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC PROVIDED A PACKING AROUND THE WINDOWS IN ORDER TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, BUT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED PROPERLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE STEERING DAMPER SEAL WAS FRACTURED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER SEAL AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,000. UPDATED 02/22/12 *BF THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFT CONTROL CABLE WAS ALSO REPLACED. UPDATED 02/23/12
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A ROUTINE INSPECTION, THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS WERE WORN. THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,981 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,900.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AFTER BEING SERVICED FOR A RECALL REPAIR BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RESOLUTION. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,084.
MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER SPITS BACK FUEL WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I BOUGHT THE JEEP. I HAVE HAD THE FUEL TANK, O-RING, FUEL PUMP AND LEVEL UNIT REPLACED. *TR
DRIVING 2007 JEEP WRANGLER X MODEL ON DAMP DAY. HITTING SHALLOW PUDDLES WITH RIGHT SIDE TIRES ON SIDE OF THE ROAD AT ABOUT 55 MILES AN HOUR. I HAVE ALWAYS DONE THIS WITHOUT TOO MUCH PROBLEM. ROAD WAS FLAT AND STRAIGHT WITHOUT POTHOLES. HIT PUDDLE AND VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AS IF A TIRE WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF AT HIGH SPEED. EXTREME MEDIUM FREQUENCY VIBRATION CONTINUED UNTIL VEHICLE WAS ALMOST AT A COMPLETE STOP. IT WAS REPEATABLE. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON A FLAT STRAIGHT WELL PAVED ROAD IN DOWNTOWN CITY STREET. I WAS GOING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MILES PER HOUR AND ON A DRY ROAD AND TRAVELED OVER A RAILROAD TRACK TRANSITION (SLIGHTLY ELEVATED CONCRETE TO TRANSITION OVER TRACKS SMOOTHER) THIS SET UP ANOTHER UNCONTROLLABLE MEDIUM FREQUENCY VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE THAT COULD NOT BE STOPPED UNLESS THE VEHICLE COMES TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP. OTHERS ON WWW.JK-FORUM.COM HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SITUATIONS. DEALERS ARE BLOWING SOME OF US OFF. IT SHOULD BE MENTIONED THAT I ALWAYS TRAVEL WITH THE ANTI-SKIT MITIGATION SYSTEM OFF. IT APPEARS THAT A LATERAL OSCILLATION IS STARTING UP IN THE FRONT END OF THE JEEP STEERING SYSTEM. BUT THAT IS JUST A GUESS. I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID (OH YEAH, THAT IS THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE). IT IS PRETTY NORMAL, ALTHOUGH THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT ON THE NEW BODY STYLE. *TR
THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO M FAILURE ARE QUITE SIMPLE. I TAKE THE SAME ROUTE TO AND FROM WORK EVERYDAY, AND AT THE POINT WHERE THE FAILURE HAPPENED I ALWAYS HAVE MY CRUISE SET AT BETWEEN 55 - 60 MPH. IT WAS A REGULAR DAY, NO PRECIPITATION AND I WAS CRUISING IN SIXTH GEAR. WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, ALL THE SUDDEN I NOTICED MY STEREO AND HEAD LIGHTS TURNED OFF, I LOOKED DOWN AND ALL OF MY DASH LIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANELS HAD TURNED OFF. SITTING IN MY SEAT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 60 MPH IT LOOKED AS IF MY CAR WAS TURNED OFF. IT LASTED LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO REALIZE I HAD A POTENTIALLY HUGE PROBLEM, AND TO LOOK ALL AROUND ME QUICKLY FOR NEARBY VEHICLES JUST IN CASE SOMETHING WAS ABOUT TO GO TERRIBLY WRONG. IT WAS PROBABLY ON 4 - 6 SECONDS IN ALL ACTUALITY, BUT IT FELT LIKE LONGER. I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD TRIED TO STEER OR BRAKE. WOULD IT HAVE WORKED? ALSO, MY JEEP IS STILL 100% STOCK, FACTORY TIRES AND ALL. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH NOT TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT, BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID ONE IF I HAD TO BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW IF THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE STILL BEEN RESPONSIVE DURING THE "BLACK OUT." THIS HAPPENED TWO DAYS AGO, AND IT IS NOW MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I PLAN ON CONTACTING THE DEALER ON TUESDAY TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE, BUT FROM MY RESEARCH ONLINE, MY HOPES ARE NOT HIGH. IT SEEMS THERE ARE PLENTY OF RELATED INCIDENTS OUT THERE, AND NOBODY SEEMS TO BE GETTING ANY REAL HELP FROM THEIR DEALERSHIPS. *TR
PURCHASED NEW 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY LIGHT CONSISTENTLY COMES ON AND POWER DIMS. THE DEALER, AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, CANNOT FIX. IT DID COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE IN MOTION IN ONE CASE AND NEEDED TOWED BACK. AFTER SERVICING THE LIGHT STILL CONSISTENTLY APPEARS AND POWER WEAKENS RANDOMLY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT DROVE INTO A MUD PUDDLE AND THEN ACROSS A GRASS FIELD. THREE DAYS LATER, HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE CAR WASH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND A FAILURE AT THE BRAKE PURGE TANK, WHICH RIPPED AND CAUSED THE BRAKE LINE TO PULL DOWN. THE DEALER INFORMED THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO RECKLESS DRIVING. THEREFORE, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER AGGRESSIVE DRIVING, ONLY DEFECTED PARTS. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED TO BE DRIVEN ON ROUGH TERRAIN; THEREFORE, THE BRAKE PURGE TANK IS DEFECTIVE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000.
STARTING OFF IN 1ST GEAR, MY JEEP SUDDENLY POPPED OUT OF GEAR AS I WAS ENTERING ROADWAY. THAT WAS THE START OF A PROBLEM THAT I STILL HAVE TODAY. DEALER HAS SAID IT IS NORMAL AND CAN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM. I NOTIFIED CHRYSLER OF THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY FAILED TO RESPOND TO MY INVESTIGATION REQUEST.
FOLLOW UP ON INCIDENT #10225339 WOBBLE IN THE FRONT END WAS BAD CONTROL ROD. DEALER ORDERED PART TO FIX IT ON APRIL 21ST AND I HAD AN ACCIDENT ON APRIL 22. MINOR DAMAGE TO MY JEEP. REPORTED TO CHRYSLER AND THE REFUSED TO REPAIR DAMAGE TO MY JEEP WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY PART. "INSPECTOR FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE SUBJECT VEHICLE'S STEERING/SUSPENSION SYSTEM." THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM 4 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INVESTIGATION AT MY HOUSE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THE DECISION IS FINAL THAT THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PRIOR TO THE INVESTIGATION. *TR
WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HITS A BUMP, GRAVEL, OR SMALL AMOUNT OF WATER THE TIRE FEELS LIKE IT IS BOUNCING. THE VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO BE STEERED UNTIL THE WOBBLE/BOUNCING STOPS WHICH IS USUALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ALMOST STOPPED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP 07 WRANGLER THE ENGINE STALLED AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH WHILE DRIVING. THE RADIO WENT DEAD AND THE STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF FOR 2 SECONDS. THE CAR THEN RESTARTED BY ITSELF WHILE STILL MOVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE DASHBOARD LIT UP JUST AS IT DOES WHEN I TURN THE CAR ON AND THE SEAT BELT CHIME SOUNDED 5 TIMES JUST LIKE IT DOES UPON STARTUP. WITHIN 15 MINUTES THE WHOLE PROCESS OCCURRED A SECOND TIME WITH THE SAME RESULT. THE CAR BRIEFLY STALLED THEN RESTARTED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN IN TOUCH WITH A DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR STALLING ENGINES BUT APPARENTLY THEY WERE WRONG BECAUSE THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWO TIMES ON ONE TRIP. I AM GOING TO STOP BY A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND ASK THEM TO PERFORM THE TIPM RESET FOR ME BUT WANT TO ALERT OTHERS THAT THEIR VEHICLE MAY BE AFFECTED EVEN THOUGH NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. *TR
DRIVING MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER ABOUT 55 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE DASH LIGHTS LIT UP, 5 SECONDS LATER IT RESTARTED AND THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF AS NORMAL. CALLED THE LOCAL SERVICE DEPT. AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE BUT WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE "LIKE FINDING A NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK" . *TR
DASH LIGHTS FLASH ON, MOMENTARY LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR REPAIR PROBLEM. *TR
WHILE DRIVING OVER 55 MPH ON HIGHWAY THERE IS A DEATH SHAKE THAT START ONLY LETTING UP ON THE GAS WILL IT STOP. *TR
I AM CURRENTLY IN POSSESSION OF A JEEP WRANGLER 2 DOOR WITH A SOFT TOP. THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE CAR IS THAT THE SOFT TOP LEAKS LIKE A FAUCET ANYTIME THERE IS RAIN. WHILE AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO ONLY BE A NUISANCE, AFTER THE THIRD TIME I BEGAN TO NOTICE MANY PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE LEAKS. THE FLOORMATS WERE CONSTANTLY SOAKED AND EVENTUALLY STARTED TO FORM MILDEW, THE PEDALS WOULD BECOME SLIPPERY AND DIFFICULT TO OPERATE DUE TO THE WETNESS, THE WATER WAS OCCASIONALLY LEAKING INTO TO SPEAKERS ON THE VENTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND WORKING ITS WAY INTO THE REAR OF THE DASHBOARD, AND THE SEATS TENDED TO SLIDE A LITTLE BIT ON THE RAILS THAT ARE USED TO LOCK THE SEAT IN PLACE WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FOR THE 07 AND 08 WRANGLERS AND DEALERSHIPS SEEM TO BE BRUSHING IT OFF AS A MINOR INCONVENIENCE. HOWEVER, WHEN THE WATER STARTS AFFECTING OTHER SYSTEMS OF THE CAR IT IS NO LONGER AN INCONVENIENCE, IT IS NOW A SAFETY ITEM. THAT IS WHY I AM BRINGING THIS ITEM TO YOUR ATTENTION. *TR
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER .I HAVE EXPERIENCED A STALLING PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE 5 TIME IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS. 4 OF THE 5 TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT NIGHT AT SPEEDS OF 50 TO 65 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE. THE REASON I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT IS I ALMOST REAR ENDED A TRACTOR TRAILER RUNNING AT A SLOWER SPEED AFTER THE STALL TURNED OF THE LIGHT AND GAVE ME NO BRAKE POWER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ALMOST COSTING ME MY LIFE. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A RECALL NOTICE DONE ON 03/21/08. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE COMING QUITE COMMON ON THESE JEEPS, I HOPE A DEATH DOES NOT HAPPEN BEFORE THEY FIX THE DEFECT. *TR
MY BUILD DATE ON MY JEEP SAHARA WAS 10/2006. IT STARTED SHOOTING GAS BACK OUT THE FILL PIPE APP. A YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED IT AND IT IS STILL DOING IT ALMOST EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP REGARDLESS OF THE GAS STATION OR THE SPEED THE PUMP IS PUMPING (SLOW MEDIUM OR FAST).IT HAS SHOT GAS OUT AS FAR AS A FOOT FROM THE JEEP, SPRAYING ON ME A COUPLE DIFFERENT TIMES. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT SOME JEEPS AFTER A BUILD DATE FROM MARCH 2007 THRU 2008 ARE BEING REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE EARLIER BUILD DATES ARE NOT SINCE IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHILST DRIVING AT 65MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY AND BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE. ALMOST LIKE IT WAS BOUNCING FROM TIRE TO TIRE. CAME TO A STOP AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM AND FIXED IT. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS OCCURRED AROUND 14000 MILES. SINCE IT WAS "FIXED" I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. CHRYSLER DID RECALL JEEP WRANGLERS FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT WHEN I ASKED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY TOLD ME MINE WAS NOT ONE THAT WAS RECALLED. OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE, VEHICLE USES 3 TO 4 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN 3,000 MILE OIL CHANGES, HAS DONE SO SINCE 25,000 MILES. I'VE ALSO HAVE A 'POPPING' FEELING FROM THE FRONT END OR STEERING COMPONENT WHEN VEHICLE HAS WARMED UP. YOU'LL FEEL THE 'POP' IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND FUEL PEDAL. CONSUMER STATES SHE WOULD LIKE THE VEHICLE REPLACED. *KB THE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FAILED WITHIN WEEKS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A CONSTANT RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM THE PILLAR AREA, THE DRIVERS DOOR DID NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. THE TECHNICIAN USED A MALLET OR HAMMER TO ALIGN THE DOOR STRIKER. THE CONSUMER HAD TO SLAM THE DOOR IN ORDER FOR IT TO CLOSE PROPERLY, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO CERTAINTY THE DOOR WAS REALLY CLOSED. THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE STRIKER ON THE DOOR COULD COLLAPSE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION CAUSING THE DOOR TO OPEN. THE VEHICLE ALSO MADE A RATTLING NOISE WHILE ACCELERATING. *JB

MY MODEL YEAR 2007 JEEP WRANGLER WITH THE 3.8L V6 ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO LOSE ENGINE POWER WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THIS OCCURS, MOMENTARY LOSS OF ENGINE POWER ON ACCELERATION OR AT CRUISING SPEED AND ALL INTERIOR WARNING LIGHTS IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHT UP ALL AT ONCE. THE RADIO WHETHER PLAYING A CD OR JUST THE RADIO FEATURE CUTS OUT AT THE SAME TIME THIS HAPPENS. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHETHER CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. TONIGHT IT HAPPENED WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN I ACCELERATED ON THE LIGHT CHANGING TO GREEN, THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS BRIEFLY CAME ON AND THE RADIO STOPPED. THE ENGINE NEVER STALLED, BUT LOST ALL POWER AND WITHIN A FEW SECONDS ALL WORKED AGAIN. I NEARLY WAS HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN THEY STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD THROUGH THE LIGHT. MY CAR WONT START. ON FEB 5TH, ODI 10217364, I HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE TIM MODULE. ON FEB. 16TH I TRIED TO START THE CAR 4 TIMES - IT WOULD TURN ON FOR A SECOND THEN ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD COME ON AND THE CAR WOULD DIE. ON THE 5TH AND 6TH TRY IT WOULDN'T TURN ON AT ALL, JUST THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH WOULD COME ON. IT WAS AFTER 4PM SO DEALERSHIP CLOSED. ON FEB. 16TH I TIRED THE CAR AGAIN, IT TURNED ON WITH THE FIRST TRY SO I MOVED IT FROM THE GARAGE TO A SPOT OUTSIDE. ON MONDAY, FEB 17TH I WAS GOING TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT BUT AGAIN IT WOULD NOT START. JUST LIKE ON SATURDAY, AFTER 4 ATTEMPTS IT WOULDN'T TURN ON AT ALL. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,513 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000.

DRIVING TO WORK FROM HOBOKEN, NJ TO MONTCLAIR, NJ ON AN 11 DEGREE DAY. DROVE 40 MINUTES, SOME ON HIGHWAY. WHILE ON HIGHWAY, THE RADIO WENT OFF LIGHTS FLASHED ON AND OFF. APPROXIMATELY ONE MILE FROM WORK, ALL LIGHTS FLASHED ON, CAR BEGAN SHAKING, THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES STOPPED WORKING AND THEN THE CAR STALLED. WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. CALLED AAA. WAITED IN COLD FOR 1.5 HOURS. WHEN TOW TRUCK ARRIVED, CAR STARTED AGAIN. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP IN VERONA, NJ. VERONA DEALERSHIP HOOKED CAR UP TO COMPUTER AND STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. RETURNED TO ME WITH NO REPAIRS MADE. BROUGHT CAR TO MANHATTAN SERVICE CENTER AT 4, 256 MILES FOR THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE CENTER FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR, BUT PERFORMED A RECALL #G40. TOLD ME IT SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE POWER FAILURE AND STALL. *TR

ON FEB 5TH, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH AND MY CAR DIED - DASH LIGHTS WENT ON, CAR JERKED TO A VIOLENT SLOW DOWN AND I ALMOST CRASHED INTO A SEMI ON MY LEFT, THE CAR PULLED TO THE LEFT. THIS IS THE 4TH INCIDENT BUT WHAT IS MOST SHOCKING IS THAT THE FIRST 2 TIMES I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP REPAID SHOP I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ERROR AND THAT THEY AND CHRYSLER CORP DIDN'T HAVE RECORD OF ANY OTHER REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM. ON THE 2ND VISIT, I ADVISED THE SERVICE PERSON THAT HE SHOULD LOOK AT THIS WEB SITE IF HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. ON THE 3RD INCIDENT, WHEN I GOT HOME, THERE WAS A RECALL "SAFETY RECALL G25-PROGRAM TIPM-ENGINE STALLING- SO I CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER, AGAIN, ADVISED THAT CAR STALLED AGAIN AND THAT I ALSO RECEIVED RECALL AND SCHEDULED THE SERVICE - AUG 2007. AFTER THIS VISIT I FELT MORE SECURE TO DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE AT LEAST CHRYSLER HAD ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM. THE ON FEB 5TH 2008 AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I CONTINUED TO WORK AND AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE CAR IT WOULDN'T START, ALL LIGHTS/RADIO ETC CAME ON BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T TURN OVER. I HAD IT TOWED TO JEEP. I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE PERSON, AFTER THE CAR WAS INSPECTED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE - SAME ITEM THAT CAUSED PREVIOUS PROBLEMS, HAD TO BE REPLACED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW, SO THAT I WOULD HAVE A DEPENDABLE AND SAFE VEHICLE - NEITHER OF WHICH IT IS! I ASKED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHAT CHRYSLER COULD DO FOR ME. HE SAID THAT FROM THE NOTES IT LOOKED LIKE I ONLY HAD ONE OCCURRENCE WITH THIS ISSUE AND THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST HE HEARD OF THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH JEEP - WOW - EITHER HE OUT RIGHT LIED TO ME OR HE IS AN UNINFORMED MANAGER. I BOUGHT A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER X, THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH THE STOCK STEEL 16" RIMS. THESE RIMS HAVE A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW THEY ARE MADE WITH A DEEP CAVITY AND OR TRENCH BEHIND THE SPOKES, SNOW, ICE ETC. SETTLE IN THIS CAVITY MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHIP OR REMOVE THE ICE. AS YOU DRIVE ON SNOWY ROADS THE TIRES THROW SNOW, ICE ETC.. INTO THIS TRENCH. WHILE CENTRIFUGAL FORCE HOLD THE SUBSTANCE IN PLACE.
