The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where they replaced the valve body. Recently, the contact stated upon placing the gear shifter into the Reverse, the vehicle would fail to move backward. The check engine light then illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where he was given an estimate for a new transmission. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.
TIMP HAS GONE BAD. CAUSES ALL GAUGES TO QUIT WORKING, STALLS ENGINE DURING OPERATIING, DOOR LOCKS AND SECURITY SYSTEM INOPERABLE, HEADLIGHTS WORK THEN DON'T WORK. LIGHTS COME ON EVEN IF SWITCH IS OFF. WINDOW MOTORS QUIT WORKING. THE WELL KNOWN FAILURE OF THE TIMP IN CHRYSLER VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY ALL JEEP WRANGLER SERIES DATING AS FAR BACK AS 2006, HAVE NOT BEEN ADDRESSED NOR FIXED BY CHRYSLER. THIS TIMP FAILURE IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS AN IMMEDIATE RECALL FORCED UPON CHRYSLER/DAIMLER/JEEP. MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER JKU TIMP QUIT WORKING, WHILST I WAS DRIVING. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT OF WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY, AND/OR DEATH. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO PHYSICALLY THROUGH THE DISABLED POWER STEERING TO STOP VEHICLE. THROUGH MY RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE PLAGUING NEARLY EVERY JEEP WRANGLER PRODUCED. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. I WONDER IF ANYONE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH OR DAMAGE COULD HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE TIMP. I AM GOING TO DISCUSS THIS ISSUE WITH THE NORTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND NC AND US ATTORNEY'S GENERAL'S OFFICE AS WELL. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED NOW WITH IMMEDIATE RECALL FORCING CHRYSLER/DAIMLER/JEEP TO FIX THE TIMP.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE ENGINE OF MY JEEP CAUGHT FIRE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO PUT IT OUT WITHOUT SUCCESS THE ENGINE ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND THE WHOLE JEEP BURNT I CALLED THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE CAME
I bought my 2007 Jeep Wrangler in November 2020. It had approximately 122,000 miles on it and has the 6 speed manual transmission. After driving it for 7 days, I was backing out of a parking spot and heard a loud squeal and was unable to shift gears. It had to have the clutch replaced along with the flywheel and several other clutch associated parts. The total was $1,600. The salesman at the dealership where I bought it told me as I was buying it that there is no warranty but if something happens in the first couple of weeks that he would work with us. Of course he did NOT help me. He wouldn't even return my phone calls. Whatever, buyer beware! Second issue is of course the fuel spit back problem. Every time I fill up, I end up with gas on the Jeep and on the ground. I love wasting money like that. There is apparently a recall on this issue but your website says my vehicle has no recalls. Third issue is all the door hinges are rusting really bad. I saw that there were several service bulletins on the proper procedures for replacing those hinges. Those should be replaced by the dealer at no cost.
THIS IS A SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE. FROM STOP INTO FIRST GEAR, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR INTO PARTIAL NEUTRAL. THERE IS NO BINDING APPARENT FROM ANY OF THE DUST BOOTS ON THE SHIFTER LEVER. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE LATE 2009. IT WAS STORED FOR A YEAR AND ONLY DRIVEN MONTHLY FOR SHORT PERIODS. UPON RETURN FROM MY DEPLOYMENT I DROVE THIS VEHICLE AS MY DAILY DRIVER UP TO CURRENT. THE HOTTER THE WEATHER, THE MORE THE TRANSMISSION POPS OUT OF GEAR. EVER SINCE I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE, IT HAS HAD THIS ISSUE. IT VIOLENTLY POPS OUT IF FIRST GEAR 1 TO 2 TIMES A WEEK; OCCASIONALLY MORE. IT IS NOW BECOMING MORE APPARENT THAT THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE. RECENTLY, WHEN TRYING TO MAKE LEFT HAND TURNS ACROSS TRAFFIC, IT WOULD POP OUT OF GEAR AND I WOULD QUICKLY HAVE TO RECOVER AND GET IT BACK INTO GEAR BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC APPROACHED. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF BLOGS AND INTERNET POSTS STATING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE STATED BY HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS OF SIMILAR YEARS AND REFERENCING HAVING TO CHANGE OUT 1 AND 2 GEAR SYNCHROS ACCORDING TO A JEEP BULLETIN. SO, IF JEEP KNOWS IT IS A MAJOR ISSUE, THEN WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL? OTHERS WERE LUCKY TO GET REPAIRS FOR FREE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE MAJORITY OF OWNERS WERE OUT OF WARRANTY, SIMILAR TO ME. SINCE THIS IS SUCH A PREDOMINANT MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE, THEN THIS IS CLEARLY A NEED FOR A RECALL FOR THOSE THAT NEED/REQUIRE THE REPAIR. HISTORY WISE, I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER 2009 WITH 15703 MILES ON IT. BY APPROX. FEBRUARY 2011 WHEN I STARTED DRIVING IT DAILY AND AT ABOUT 17000 MILES THE ISSUE STARTED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 89800 MILES ON IT.
VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE SITTING IN DRIVEWAY IN FRONT OF HOME 30 MINUTES AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE. TOTAL LOSS.
THE VEHICLE JUMPS OUT OF GEAR OFTEN WHEN BEGINNING ACCELERATION WHILE IN FIRST GEAR AND SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING WHILE IN THIRD GEAR. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT. IT COULD HAVE PARTICULARLY DEADLY CONSEQUENCES WHEN STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP AND PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR TURNING IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC (OF COURSE WHEN GIVEN PLENTY OF TIME AND SPACE AND YIELDING OF RIGHT OF WAY TO OTHER VEHICLES), IF IT WERE TO LEAVE YOU STOPPED ALL OF A SUDDEN AFTER POPPING OUT OF GEAR. IT'S UNBELIEVABLE THAT JEEP AND DEALERSHIPS DENY THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A DECADE NOW WITH NO OFFICIAL FIX OR RECALL. WE'VE "LEARNED" TO DRIVE IT WITH THIS DYSFUNCTION, BUT THIS SHOULD BE LEADING TO WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUITS IF IT EVER CAUSED SUCH.
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. RECENTLY IT HAS STARTED TO OCCASIONALLY AND VIOLENTLY POP OUT OF FIRST GEAR. THE ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS FROM A STANDSTILL INTO A ROLLING START SUCH AS AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AS I COULD EASILY BE REAR ENDED IN BUSY TRAFFIC. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ IN THE DIFFERENT WRANGLER FORUMS, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS A DETAILED TSB REGARDING THIS REPAIR. I KNOW STARTING IN 2008, THE JEEPS CAME WITH A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE POWERTRAIN. I'M INQUIRING TODAY AS TO WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED FOR THOSE OF US WITH THE '07. IT'S THE SAME MOTOR, SAME TRANSMISSION AS THE 08-2010 MODELS. I ONLY HAVE 124K MILES ON IT, AND HAVE OWNED THE JEEP FOR 10 YEARS. THE TSB RELATED INVOLVES REPLACING FIRST GEAR, AND THE 1/2 SYNCHROS. I HAVE ALREADY REACHED OUT TO JEEP/FCA AND WAS REFERRED BACK TO JUST SEEK REPAIR. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS KNOWN PROBLEM/ COMMON DEFECT IN ENGINEERING, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE MODEL YEAR JK AFTER '07 CAME WITH THE LIFETIME POWER TRAIN WARRANTY.
MY JEEP WITH 86K MILES ENGINE BLEW. ONE WEEK EARLIER WHEN DRIVING OVER 40 MILES PER HOUR IT SEEMED TO WOBBLE A BIT FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE I HAD 4 WHEEL DRIVE ON. I HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR A MONTH AND IT IS A 2ND VEHICLE AND I WAS NOT SURE IF THAT WAS NORMAL OR NOT. THEN AFTER NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR 4 DAYS I MOVED IT OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND WAS LESS THEN A BLOCK FROM MY HOME WHEN THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND HALF A BLOCK LATER THE ENGINE CUT OUT. THE CAR WOULDNT START AGAIN AND I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY TOLD ME THE INTERNAL FUEL PUMP SEEMED TO MALFUNCTION AND THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN! WHEN I RETURNED HOME I NOTICED A POOL OF OIL IN MY DRIVEWAY. THIS CAR SAT FOR DAYS AND WAS BARELY DRIVEN BY ME SINCE MY PURCHASE. HOW DOES AN ENGINE AT 86K MILES JUST BLOW? HOW DOES OIL JUST DUMP OUT OF A VEHICLE? WHY? WELL DOING INTERNET RESEARCH IT APPEARS THAT THIS 2007 ENGINE YEAR THERE WAS A MISTAKE IN THE ENGINES WHERE PISTONS WERE PUT IN UPSIDE DOWN? THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS AND MANY 2007 JEEPS HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN. I AM LUCKY IT HAPPENED ON A LOCAL ROAD, IF I WAS DRIVING 65 IN MIDDLE LANE OF A HIGHWAY AND MY ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF I WOULD BE DEAD. I COULDNT STEER IT. IT JUST STOPPED..... I HAVE TRIED CALLING CHRYSLER AND HAVE BEEN TRANSFERED MANY TIMES TO OTHER PEOPLE, I AM AT A LOSS OF WHAT TO DO. AGAIN, I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE 1.5 MONTHS...
JEEP WILL NOT START INTERMITTENTLY, WHEN TURNING THE KEY OVER THE JEEP WILL CLICK ONCE AND THE STARTER WILL NOT TURN OVER. SOMETIMES YOU CAN TRY AGIN RIGHT AWAY AND IT'LL START. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO WIGGLE THE GEAR SHIFTER, AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES AWHILE TO GET IT TO TURN OVER AND START. I WAS TOLD IT IS EITHER AN IGNITION PROBLEM OR A NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH, BUT GEARED TOWARDS THE LATTER. IT DOES IT WHETHER PARKED ON A HILL, FLAT, WARM OR COLD. ACCORDING TO MANY JEEP PAGES AND FORUMS THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED A CASE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,388.
THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STAY IN 1ST GEAR (MANUAL 6 SPEED). YOU MUST HOLD THE SHIFTER, WITH FORCE IN FIRST GEAR OR ELSE IT "POPS OUT"...MAKES A BAD NOISE WHEN DOING SO. I LOOKED ON JEEP FORUMS AND THERE ARE 5 PAGES OR MORE OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THIS EXACT ISSUE. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. IF YOU PULL INTO AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A TURN, AND ARE NOT HOLDING THE SHIFTER WITH ENOUGH FORCE AND IT POPS OUT OF GEAR, YOU MIGHT GET HIT BY AN ONCOMING CAR, SINCE YOU'VE STOPPED GOING FORWARD. PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN, THE CAR BEHIND YOU MIGHT SLAM INTO YOU, BECAUSE YOU STARTED TO GO THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN STOPPED GOING FORWARD. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THESE MANUAL TRANSMISSION WRANGLERS - THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS NOT A RANDOM OCCURRANCE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
VEHICLE WILL JUMP OUT OF 1ST GEAR AFTER 10 FEET INTO AN INTERSECTION WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, LEAVING YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING SIDE TRAFFIC WHILE IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF THE DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THIS IS ON THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION MODELS.
I BOUGHT MY JEEP 12/12/16 AND IT HAD 43,319 MILES ON IT. ON 2/7/17 AT 45,233 MILES I HAD THE FIRST ENGINE REPLACEMENT DONE. ON 5/17/17 AT 46,552 MILES I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. ON 11/1/18 AT 65,858 MILES I HAD THE SECOND ENGINE REPLACEMENT. ON 3/8/19 AT 68,980 MILES I HAD THE THIRD REPLACEMENT ENGINE INSTALLED. I GOT MY JEEP BACK ON 4/15/19 AND NOW I HEAR A TICKING LIKE SOUND AND I'M TOLD IT COULD BE AN EXHAUST LEAK. ALSO, BEFORE I GOT THE THIRD ENGINE INSTALLED THE JEEP WOULD POP OUT OF FIRST GEAR WHEN I START TO ACCELERATE, JUST LIKE BEFORE. I TALKED TO THE MECHANIC WHO REBUILT MY TRANSMISSION AND HE SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. HE SAID HE COULD FIX IT, BUT EVENTUALLY IT WILL START POPPING OUT OF FIRST GEAR AGAIN.

THIS CAN BE EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS WHEN GOING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR CHANGING LANES AS THE JEEP WILL POP OUT IF GEAR AND NO LONGER ACCELERATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE DAY ONE OF ME PURCHASING IT.
