I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X RHD. IT HAS TWO ISSUES. 1. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON BECAUSE THE CLOCKSPRING NEEDS REPLACED IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS COST 500.00 TO FIX. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND DEFINITELY SHOULD BE A RECALL. 2. THE JEEP WON'T START DUE TO A SAFETY MECHANISM IN THE SHIFTER. YOU HAVE TO START THE JEEP IN NEUTRAL. THESE ARE VERY COMMON PROBLEMS AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY THE COMPANY. I ALSO HAVE A RECALL ON THE STEERING DAMPER..IT HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED THE J34 RECALL...THE DEALERSHIP STILL DOESN'T HAVE THE PART TO FIX IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD REMAIN LOCKED WHEN SECURED. THE FRONT SEAT BELTS EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME FAILURE TWO YEARS PRIOR. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND CONTACTED THE DIVISION MANAGER ON THE CONTACTS BEHALF. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,075 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD INADVERTENTLY LOCK FOR NO REASON AND IT WOULD REQUIRE THE BELT TO BE DISCONNECTED AND COMPLETELY RETURNED TO THE RETRACTOR TO RELEASE THE LOCK. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED ERRATICALLY BETWEEN SECOND GEAR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION PLATE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,600 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,900.
MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60-65 MPH. I HAD MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE AND IT SCARED THEM TO DEATH. I HAD TO TRY TO PULL OVER TO AVOID A COLLISION. IT WOULD NOT STOP SHAKING UNTIL I WAS UNDER 30 MPH. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER 8 TIMES TO GET THIS PROBLEM ADDRESSED. THEY HAVE DONE ALIGNMENTS CHANGED STEERING STABILIZERS AND STILL CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I JUST HAD IT BACK INTO CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPT ON 10-24-11 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF POSTS ON THE INTERNET WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS NEED TO BE FIXED!!!! PLEASE HELP *TT
CLOCK SPRING ISSUE, COMPUTER RECALL, BRAKE RECALL, TRANS. COOLER LINE RECALL, FUEL TANK RECALL (TANK REPLACED THREE TIMES). ENGINE SHORT BLOCK REPLACEMENT AT 30,000 MILES DUE TO POOR QUALITY OF MANUFACTURER. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY NOT START. IT WAS FINALLY RESOLVED 62,000 MILES LATER BY THE DEALER REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR. THIS IS A RIGHT HAND DRIVE VEHICLE USED FOR POSTAL SERVICE AND THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER POSTAL MESSAGE BOARDS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS THE GAS PUMP DOES NOT AUTO STOP FILLING AND GAS SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILL OPENING AROUND THE PUMP HANDLE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP AND AS A RESULT I MUST ALWAYS FILL THE TANK MANUALLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE 2008 WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR.

MY COMPLAINT IS A FUTURE FAILURE. I OWN A 2007 JEEP WRANGLER. AT THE TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT, MY VEHICLE HAS 18,000 MILES. THE TORSION BAR ON THE FRONT END, IS WORN OUT. FELLOW OWNERS COMPLAIN OF THIS PROBLEM. BEING A STEERING ISSUE, IT COULD LEAD TO SEVERE INJURIES IN THE FUTURE. I AM THE FIRST OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
JEEP IS A STOCK 2DR 4X4 JEEP WRANGLER X WITH 28500 MILES ON IT WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON A COUPLE OF DIRT ROADS BUT NO OFF ROAD USAGE. WHILE DRIVING AROUND A CURVE ON LOOP 470 IN DENVER AT 65MPH, MY JEEP BEGAN TO AGGRESSIVELY "WOBBLE" JACKHAMMER AND THROW JEEP FROM TIRE TO TIRE SIDE TO SIDE LITERALLY JUMPING INCHES OFF THE PAVEMENT. IT WAS JUMPING FROM FRONT RIGHT TIRE TO REAR LEFT TIRE TO FRONT LEFT. BACK AND FORTH 1 TIRE WAS ON THE GROUND WHILE THE OTHER THREE TIRES YOUR COULD FEEL LITERALLY JUMPING OFF THE ROAD AND HAD NO CONTACT WITH PAVEMENT. VERY SCARY. ALL VEHICLE CONTROL LOST AT THIS TIME. MANUAL STICK WAS ACTUALLY BEING THROWN SO VIOLENTLY LEFT AND RIGHT I COULD NOT GRAB IT TO THROW IN NEUTRAL AND STOP THE VEHICLE. BRAKING SYSTEM HAD VERY LITTLE EFFECT SINCE ALL WHEELS BUT ONE WERE OFF THE PAVEMENT. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN TO 45MPH AND THE DEATH WOBBLE MYSTERIOUSLY STOPPED AND I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL ENOUGH TO PULL OF THE FREEWAY AND INSPECT THE VEHICLE. I DISCOVERED A LITTLE SNOW AROUND THE TIREWELL BUT CERTAINLY NOTHING THAT SHOULD CAUSE THIS VIOLENT OF A REACTION. VERY DANGEROUS BEEN DRIVING FOR 23 YEARS AND NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS FOR THE SIMILAR FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. MY 2008 JEEP JK RUBICON SPEWS GAS AND EJECTS THE GAS PUMP WHEN IT REACHES CAPACITY. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYTIME, BUT EVERY THIRD TIME. I NOW HAVE TO "GAUGE" HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK AND STOP IT BEFORE IT FILLS UP. WHEN IT OVERFLOWS, NEARLY A PINT TO TWO PINTS SPEW OUT ALL OVER MY JEEP, GAS STATION FLOOR AND SEVERAL TIMES OVER MYSELF. THIS IS A SERIOUS HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. IMAGINE SOMEONE LIGHTING A CIGARETTE AFTER A FUEL UP FORGETTING HE JUST GOT GASOLINE ON HIM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE IT SPILLED OVER AND OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A CLAIM WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.
DURING MILD ACCELERATION FROM A FULL STOP, IN FIRST GEAR, THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION JUMPED OUT OF FIRST GEAR INTO NEUTRAL. A VERY LOUD AND JARRING CLANG OCCURRED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE INCIDENT. DURING THE NEXT THREE YEARS THIS WAS A RARE AND CONSISTENT OCCURRENCE. AS OF THE SUMMER OF 2012 THIS HAS BECOME A DAILY OCCURRENCE. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE VEHICLE DRIVERS BEHIND ME MAY ASSUME THAT THE FORWARD MOTION OF MY VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE AND ACCELERATE WHERE IN REALITY THE ACCELERATION OF MY VEHICLE COMES TO AN ABRUPT HALT AND THE VEHICLE SPEED DECREASES UNTIL I AM ABLE TO RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. *JS
SOFT TOP LEAKS ON BOTH SIDE IN THE FRONT. SEATS GETTING STAINED AND THE CARPET IS STARTING TO SMELL. WATER STAINS ON THE DOORS, STEERING COLUMN, AND DOWN THE DASH. *TR
WHEN DRIVING MY NEW 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA ON THE HIGHWAY , THE HOOD SEEMS LOSE AS IT "MOVES" AROUND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IF THERE IS A WIND THE HOOD POPS UP A FEW INCHES. ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY A BIG TRANSPORT TRUCK WENT BY IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND I SWEAR THE HOOD JUMPED UP 6 INCHES. CHRYSLER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. WHAT IS SO NORMAL ABOUT THE HOOD THREATENING TO OPEN? WHAT ABOUT IN A FEW YEARS WHEN THE (RUBBER/PLASTIC) HOOD RETAINERS START GETTING OLD? *TR
WHEN FUELING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X (2DR) AND SETTING THE PUMP TO AUTO FILL THE FUEL OVERFLOWS ONCE THE TANK WAS FILLED COMPLETELY. THE PUMP CLICKED OFF AND THE FUEL TANK THEN "VOMITED" A LOT OF FUEL OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER SHE WOULD DRIVE OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE, THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FIVE TIMES WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. VARIOUS REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AT 50-60MPH. ALL OF SUDDEN I JUST LOSE POWER AND MY SENSOR LIGHTS COME ON IN THE DASH. I HAVE TO ATTEMPT TO PULL OVER WITHOUT ANY STEERING AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON, THIS USUALLY WORKS BUT RECENTLY THIS HAPPENED AND WHEN I WENT TO START THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND IT DID THE SAME THING AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 100 MORE FEET AND WOULD DIE OUT AFTER ABOUT 3 ATTEMPTS AND I COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE STARTED, I LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND THEN IT RESTARTED AND I DROVE IT APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE DRIVING IT INTO THE SHOP. IT HAS NOW BEEN INTO THE SHOP TWICE FOR THE PROBLEM, IT HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO BE FIXED BECAUSE I WAS TOLD TO KEEP DRIVING IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER THE FIRST TIME OF BEING APPARENTLY FIXED IT A FEW DAYS AFTER IT WAS FIXED AND THEY RAN A TEST ON IT AND SAID IT SHOULD BE FINE AND TO KEEP DRIVING IT. IT THEN DID IT ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER AND I BROUGHT IT INTO THE SHOP AGAIN, THIS S WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 50 MPH. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,559 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,500.
I CURRENTLY DO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT DATE OF THE FIRST OCCURANCE, BUT SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT THIS JEEP I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 10 TIMES FOR A WATER LEAK ( THE MAJOR ISSUE ). THEN RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT IT I WAS COMING OFF OF THE BAY BRIDGE IN MARYLAND, AND THE STREERING STRUT BROKE CAUSING DIFFICULTY STEERING. THE PRESSURE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION WENT BAD, THE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED, MY SEAT BROKE TWICE, THE BOOT AROUND THE GEAR SHIFT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. IT WAS JUST IN THE SHOP ON FRIDAY TO HAVE THE WATER LEAK IN THE DOOR AND ROOF REPAIRED AGAIN. I TRIED TO FILE FOR THE LEMON LAW WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED AND THEY TOLD ME MY VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH CHRYSLER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF ALL I HAVE BEEN THROUGH AND THEY GET ME AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER ( BIG DEAL ) THEY ACT LIKE THEY COULD CARE LESS. I WAS TOLD BY THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT HE HAD GONE TO A MEETING THE OTHER DAY AND THAT CHRYSLER HAD "BIG PROBLEMS", APPARENTLY THEY HAVE DISCOVERED THE WINDSHIELDS ARE OFF BY 1/8 OF AN INCH CAUSING ALL THESE VEHICLES TO LEAK! SHOULDNT THAT BE A RECALL. I HAVE LOST MORE TIME FROM WORK AND MORE HEADACHES WITHOUT A CAR THAN ENOUGH. THEY SHOULD BUY THIS VEHICLE BACK FROM ME AT THE PRICE I SCREWED BUYING IT! *TR
THE VEHICLE IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY KEEPS POPPING OUT OF GEAR AND GOES ON NEUTRAL WHEN DRIVING ON 1ST, 2ND OR 3RD GEAR. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE ACCELERATED AND COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP. OBVIOUSLY THIS SITUATION POSES A SERIOUS DANGER THAT CAN RESULT TO ACCIDENTS AND POSSIBLE LOSE OF LIVES. DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, CHRYSLER FAILS TO RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. YET, IRONICALLY, ALTHOUGH MANY OWNERS OF JEEP WRANGLER 2007 - 2011 WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO CHRYSLER, THE HAVE NOT PUT ANY RECALL FOR THAT VERY ALARMING DEFECT. *TR
WHENEVER I FILL THE GAS TANK IT OVERFLOWS AFTER THE PUMP TURNS OFF. IT HAPPENS AT ALL GAS STATIONS. IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE JEEP WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS OLD. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WOULDN'T BE WARRANTIED DUE TO MY USING THE VEHICLE OFF ROAD SO I HAVE GIVEN UP TRYING. I MOSTLY DON'T FILL IT ALL THE WAY ANYMORE. BUT OCCASIONALLY I FORGET AND GAS SPILLS ON THE GROUND CAUSING A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD AT THE GAS STATION AS WELL AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. AFTER LEARNING THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, I HAVE TO ASK WHY THIS ISN'T A RECALL YET?
TANK OVERFLOWS EVERYTIME I FILL UP THE JEEP. FUEL SPILLS ON THE JEEP AND THE GROUND. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT SEVERAL MONTHS LATER YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT A SECOND TIME BUT AGAIN, TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. WRANGELR RUBICON 2 DR STALLING AT INTERSTATE / HIGHWAY SPEED, STARTED DOING THIS AT APPROX 10,000 MILES. STARTED DOING THIS 152 MILES IN TO A 320 MILE TRIP AND DID THIS NUMEROUS TIMES BETWEEN 10,000 AND 10,090 MILES WERE I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE INTERSTATE AS THE VEHICLE ENGINE QUIT COMPLETELY OR SOMETIMES YOU COULD PUMP THE GAS AND THE ENGINE WOULD COME BACK TO LIFE, BUT NOT OFTEN. FILLED UP WITH GAS AT 10,090, THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD GOTTEN BAD GAS HOWEVER IT HAPPENED AGAIN APPROX 68 MILES INTO THE NEW FULL TANK OF GAS AND CONTINUED HAPPENING AT HIGHWAY SPEED WERE I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND IT WOULD DIE. JEEP RESTARTED EVERYTIME, SOMETIMES IT WOULD TAKE NUMEROUS TIMES TO RESTART. THIS SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. I LIMPED TO MY DESTINATION ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT MOST CHYRSLER/JEEP DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS ARE CLOSED ON SATURDAYS SO LOOKS LIKE I AM STUCK UNTIL MONDAY TO GET IT TO A DEALER IN A DIFFERENT STATE FROM WHERE I LIVE. CAN'T BELIEVE IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FILLER NECK AND FUEL VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
I DON'T KNOW WHO TO CONTACT OR WHAT TO DO, I WAS THE OWNER OF A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER I HAVE OWNED IT SINCE 9/11/08 I ORDERED IT BRAND NEW FROM FACTORY THROUGH A DEALER. YESTERDAY MAY 31, 2008 AT AROUND 630 PM OR SO. EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE FAILURE. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE I NOTICED THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE LIKE IT SHOULD. UPON PARKING ONE EVENING, I MUST HAVE LEFT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL BUT I HAD SET THE BRAKE FULLY. IN THE MORNING, MY JEEP HAD DRIFTED FORWARD INTO MY OTHER VEHICLE, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGES TO BOTH. THE DEALER CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND CLAIMED NOTHING WAS WRONG. TO THIS DATE, AND MILEAGE (60,000) THE BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE ON THE SLIGHTEST OF GRADE. *TR

I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X, MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE KEEPS POPPING OUR OF GEAR ON ITS OWN WHICH OFTEN RESULTS IN A SUDDEN AND UNPREDICTABLE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATED AFTER A COMPLETE STOP, THE PROBLEM ALSO DISPLAYS ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING ON 1ST , 2ND OR 3RD GEAR. SOMETIMES, AFTER HAVING STOP FOR A RED LIGHT OR A STOP SIGN, I PUT THE CAR ON 1ST GEAR TO DRIVE AWAY BUT THE CAR WOULD MOVE A FEW FEET BUT THEN IT POPS OUT RIGHT BACK TO NEUTRAL. AS A RESULT, MY VEHICLE WOULD STOP COMPLETELY AND THE DRIVER BEHIND ME OFTEN ALMOST HITS MY VEHICLE FROM THE BACK. THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN I AM TURNING A CURVE. I MUST ADD THAT THE VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN IT POPS OUT OF GEAR CAUSING ME, AS THE DRIVER, TO LOOSE SOME CONTROL AND CONCENTRATION. I BELIEVE, BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, MY CAR IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEMS TO THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER AT LEAST FIVE TIMES BUT THEY KEEP SAYING THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX IT. AIR CONDITIONER DOESN'T COOL. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR. BLOWS "SMOKE" FROM VENTS. A LOUD "KNOCK" SOUND WHEN YOU TURN THE A/C ON/OFF OR WHEN YOU CRANK THE VEHICLE AND THE A/C CONTROL IS ON. SOFT TOP LEAKS OVER BOTH DOORS WHEN IT RAINS. SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS CONFIRMED PROPER TOP INSTALLATION. SHARP EDGES ON THE ROLL BARS. ROLL BAR COVERS HAVE RIPPED AS A RESULT OF PUTTING THE TOP UP OR DOWN. DANGEROUS "WOBBLE" WHEN YOU HIT A SMALL POTHOLE, CHANGE UNEVEN LANES, ETC. HOOD LIFTS APPROX. 2 INCHES WHEN A LARGE TRUCK OR TRAILER PASSES OR MEETS THE JEEP. BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. STOP LAMP SWITCH FELL OFF MOUNTING BRACKET AND THE LIGHTS WERE ALWAYS ON. METHOD OF HOLDING SWITCH TO BRACKET WAS INSUFFICIENT TO HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THE SWITCH TO THE BRACKET. A NEW MOUNT WAS MADE TO HOLD THE SWITCH IN PLACE, USING THE OLD SWITCH. *TR

MY BRAND NEW 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X 4X4 BEGAN THE DREADED "DEATH WOBBLE" (LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL) AROUND 550 MILES. THOUGHT I WAS ABOUT TO "DIE". HAPPENED 4 MORE TIMES UNTIL I GOT IT TO THE DEALER. AFTER SEARCHING JEEP FORUMS AND SUCH, I FOUND THAT 1000S OF JEEP OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM, WITH MANY JEEP MODELS. AND LEARNED THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT CONSIDER THE DEATH WOBBLE AN ISSUE. ON NOVEMBER 19, 2007 AS I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT A RESTAURANT, I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING AND QUICKLY NOTICED A RED DOT LIGHT ABOVE MY FUEL GAUGE. I HAD TO PULL MY PARKING BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID ROLLING ANY FURTHER. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START MY CAR AGAIN. INITIALLY, SEVERAL LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE MOTOR SEEMED TO RESPOND TO TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. HOWEVER, AFTER EACH ATTEMPT, THE ENGINE CUT OFF AFTER A FEW QUICK SECONDS. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THERE WAS NO RESPONSE AT ALL TO TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAD HAPPENED. I WAS ACTUALLY JUST A MILE DOWN THE ROAD FROM JUST PICKING UP MY JEEP FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAD BEEN SERVICED FOR THE PAST 8 DAYS FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I HAD LITERALLY JUST PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AFTER BEING TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS FINALLY RESOLVED. THE ACTUAL RECEIPT FROM THE SERVICE SHOP SHOWS THAT 0.2 HOURS WERE SPENT ON FIXING THE ISSUE WHICH INVOLVED THE WCM MODULE. THE 8 DAYS WHERE IT SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP CONSISTED OF 2 DAYS OF NO DIAGNOSIS, ESSENTIALLY JUST SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP; 1 DAY WHEN THE WCM MODULE WAS ORDERED AFTER DIAGNOSIS; AND THE REST OF THE TIME SPENT WAITING FOR THE PART TO ARRIVE AND PLACED ON THE CAR. THE FIRST STALL OCCURRED IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIENDS IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO JUST MOVE THE KIDS INTO THE HOUSE WITH NO REAL SAFETY INCIDENT. HOWEVER, THIS SECOND INCIDENT LED TO ME ROLLING INTO PARKING LOT TRAFFIC AND TOWARDS THE RESTAURANT SIDEWALK AND BUILDING. THE PARKING SPACE WAS AT AN INCLINE WHICH ALLOWED THE STALLED OUT CAR TO GAIN MOMENTUM AS IT ROLLED BACKWARD. FORTUNATELY SINCE THIS WAS THE SECOND INCIDENT I QUICKLY REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE PARKING BRAKE. HOWEVER I DID WIND UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PARKING LOT BLOCKING TRAFFIC IN AND OUT OF THE LOT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS ABLE TO REACH A SETTLEMENT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
ALL ELECTRONIC FAILURE CLUSTERS LIGHTS UP ON DASH. WIPERS AND HEADLIGHTS COME ON AND CANNOT BE SWITCHED OFF. INDICATOR LAMPS, SPEEDOMETER AND RPM ARE NONE RESPONSIVE. ALARM SOUNDS REPEATEDLY UNTIL THE PROBLEM SELF CORRECTS. ALL OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS SUCH AS RADIO SHUTS DOWN. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT AFFECT THE MOTOR. *TR

THE DEALER REPAIRED THE HAND BRAKE YET ONE WEEK LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AS THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER THEN ADJUSTED THE TENSION ON THE HAND BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO THEN PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND CONFIRMED THAT THE LUBRICANT FROM THE AXLE SEAL WAS LEAKING FLUID. THE FLUID WAS DRIPPING ONTO THE SHOES WHICH PREVENTED THE PARKING BRAKE FROM FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.

HOPKINS. 4/19/2010 *GR THE CONSUMER IS AFRAID THE ENGINE MAY CATCH ON FIRE, DUE TO IT BACKFIRING. ALSO, THE RPM PERIODICALLY REMAINED HIGH. THE CONSUMER STATED HE REPEATEDLY HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE CHECH ENGINE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED AND THEREFORE, THE COMPUTER WAS UNABLE TO RECORD ANY MALFUNCTIONS. *JB
