NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Jeep Wrangler. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Manufacturer: Stellantis / Jeep Recalls Involved: •High-Voltage Battery Fire Risk Recall (park-outside / do-not-charge) •Engine Casting / Sand Contamination Recall (Recall 68C) — risk of sudden loss of propulsion and fire NHTSA Case: If referencing dealer/Jeep case → Case #94839085 Mileage: [insert mileage] VIN: [insert VIN] Complaint Description: My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is currently subject to two serious safety recalls: (1) a high-voltage battery recall requiring the vehicle to be parked outside and not charged due to fire risk, and (2) Recall 68C involving engine casting/sand contamination that can lead to unrecoverable loss of propulsion, engine failure, and potential fire. Jeep has notified me that no repair is currently available for either recall and has provided no estimated timeline for a remedy. As a result, I have been advised not to drive or charge the vehicle. This has left me with a vehicle that is unsafe to operate, unsafe to store, and unusable for daily transportation. I contacted Jeep Customer Care and the dealership for assistance. Jeep has only offered a limited 30-day reimbursement-based rental that requires me to pay out–of–pocket and does not cover the full period during which my vehicle is unsafe and unrepairable. Jeep has not provided a loaner or replacement vehicle despite the indefinite loss of use. This situation raises serious concerns because: •The vehicle cannot be safely driven, •There is a real risk of engine failure or fire while driving, •There is a risk of battery fire even while parked, •A remedy is unknown and unavailable, •Jeep has not provided a safe, usable transportation solution. I am filing this complaint because I believe the severity of these defects, the lack of an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s inadequate interim support pose a significant safety risk to me, my family, and the public. I am requesting NHTSA to review this matter.
Vehicle has had two battery failure recalls and one engine failure recall in the 18 months that I’ve owned it. I can’t park the car inside. I can’t charge it and now the engine may catch fire. Stellantis/Mopar has no remediation for either problem.
I am filing a complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Wrangler under an active safety recall involving the high-voltage battery. Jeep has stated that there is no repair available and advised owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park it in a garage or near structures due to a potential fire risk. This creates a major safety hazard, and I am unable to use the vehicle as intended. The recall has caused: • Loss of use • Safety concerns for my home and family • Diminished value of the vehicle I am requesting NHTSA to investigate the delay and require Jeep/Stellantis to provide an immediate remedy, repairs, loaner vehicle, or buyback.
My vehicle is unsafe to drive. Recall 1 The battery can go on fire/explode. Recall 2 The engine can just cut out - complete loss of power at any time resulting in a vehicle crash with no warning. Recall 3 Engine Fires I keep getting recalls and there are no estimated dates for repairs.
Three active recalls on this vehicle currently and have not had the vehicle a full calendar year yet. Two pertaining to fire-risk recall which can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside vehicle. The recall instructions state there is an issue with battery and engine which can cause fire. The recall instructions state to not charge the vehicle nor park in garage and to park it outside away from buildings due to risk of thermal runway. The engine may contact materials which can also cause fire. Because of this, the vehicle is not safe to drive. My dealership (Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Chrysler in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey) as well as Jeep has refused to provide a loaner vehicle or transportation assistance free of charge. They informed me I must pay out of pocket for a rental while the recall remedy is being developed causing me to pay for 2 vehicles at the same. There is currently no remedy for this issue and no timeframe of when it will be available. Stellantis has not provided any support despite the safety hazard and the fact that I cannot safely use this vehicle. This leaves me without transportation during a federally mandated safety recall involving a fire risk. I am requesting NHTSA review this issue and contact the involved parties to ensure proper handling of the recall and consumer safety. Thank you,
I own a 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe that I purchased in September of 2024 from Charlie's Jeep in Augusta as a used car with just under 5,000 miles. Now it has about 11,888 miles and has been un-driveable since December 1 due to unresolved safety recalls. The car is a certified used Jeep and is under warranty and has two current major safety recalls, one of which does not have a solution and a fix. The first recall is for a faulty hybrid battery that can catch on fire, and the second recall is for residual sand left in the engine, which can cause a sudden loss of propulsion and/or fire. This sand can migrate to other parts of the car, so an engine replacement would not be a complete fix. Currently, the car has a "Do Not Drive" recommendation from Jeep and as a result, it has been sitting at the dealer since December 1, 2025. Because of the recalls, the value and safety of the car is very much depreciated. I have tried to work with Jeep and the dealer on a reasonable solution to no avail.

Recall 78C on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe poses an imminent threat. Jeep has no current fix for the issue. Jeep is providing no buyback options or trade-in assistance to get out from under the vehicle. I was told by Stellantis not to drive the vehicle and that I was to fully front the cost of a rental (and be reimbursed later) while still paying a car payment for a vehicle they said not to drive. I am now saddled with a dangerous vehicle I can not trade in and Jeep is providing no assistance or fix for the 78C recall.
My vehicle is subject to two open safety recalls: 68C (PHEV High Voltage Battery) and 78C (PHEV 2.0L Engine Fire / Loss of Propulsion). Recall 78C currently has no available remedy and involves risk of engine fire and sudden loss of propulsion without warning. The manufacturer has issued guidance advising modified use and safety precautions, including parking the vehicle outside and avoiding certain operating conditions. Based on these warnings and the lack of a remedy, I do not feel safe operating or using the vehicle as intended. I contacted Jeep/Stellantis Recall Customer Care multiple times and was assigned a case number. However, no loaner vehicle or transportation assistance has been provided, my assigned case manager and supervisor did not follow up, and my local Jeep dealer has not contacted me to schedule service or provide alternatives. Due to the unresolved safety recall, lack of remedy, and lack of manufacturer follow-through, I am unable to safely use the vehicle.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has two serious safety recalls: A7C and 68C. Recall A7C states the vehicle may lose propulsion while driving, which can cause a crash without warning. Recall 68C states the high-voltage battery may be damaged during normal use and may cause a vehicle fire. Jeep instructs owners to not charge the vehicle and to park away from structures. The manufacturer states that no remedy is available for either recall. This makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, unsafe to park at home, and unusable as designed. The manufacturer has provided no timeline for repair. This is an unresolved, dangerous safety hazard.
Vehicle stops driving ; states to put in park and restart - recently happened while at airport picking up family ; called jeep, Stellanis, dealership - no help - active recall - requested buy back - crickets since. ; had happened as well in past - at dealership for 3 days - was told corrected. Still happening
Hi, I am writing regarding my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ), which is currently under both fire-risk safety recalls. I have been advised not to charge the vehicle and to keep it parked away from my home, buildings, and other cars due to the potential battery fire hazard. At this time, the dealership has confirmed that they are unable to perform the recall repair or provide a timeline for when the necessary parts and remedy will be available. As a result, the vehicle is not safe or practical to use and I am paying for a vehicle I cannot use for reasons intended. Given that the vehicle is unusable due to an unresolved safety defect, I am requesting an early lease termination or manufacturer-assisted replacement. I believe this falls under a reasonable expectation for relief when a vehicle cannot be safely operated and the manufacturer cannot complete the required recall repair within a reasonable timeframe. Please open a case for review and advise on the next steps. I am happy to provide any additional documentation you may need, including the recall notice and my communications with the dealer. I have called Jeep & Stellantis multiple times and neither are willing to help me resolve this issue. I have also opened a case with the BBB. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to resolving this as soon as possible. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I am filing a safety complaint regarding my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, VIN [XXX] , manufactured by JEEP, leased through Stellantis. This vehicle is under an active recall for a battery-related fire risk. I have been informed by the dealership and the manufacturer that no repair or fix is currently available, potentially until next year. Despite this, the OEM states the vehicle is “safe to drive” while also instructing me not to park the vehicle indoors, near other vehicles, or near structures due to the risk of fire. This guidance is contradictory and makes normal use of the vehicle unsafe and impractical. I must drive to work and park near other vehicles and buildings, which the manufacturer says not to do. In addition, the vehicle also has an unresolved airbag recall with no fix available. The vehicle is leased, yet I have been told I cannot exchange the vehicle or exit the lease without paying the full remaining term, even though the vehicle cannot be safely used as intended and has no available remedy. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether a vehicle that may catch fire and cannot be safely parked should be considered safe to operate, and whether interim consumer protections or remedies should be required when no repair exists. A recall for the possibility that sand may have entered the engine during casting has been in place since November 2025. To date, Stellantis has not provided a remedy that, in my opinion, should require a complete engine replacement. I am required to travel extensively, often hundreds of miles at a time, for work, and this is my only vehicle. I am frequently on freeways with a speed limit of 65-70 mph. Knowing there is a chance my vehicle could suddenly suffer a catastrophic engine failure and fire at these speeds is absolutely terrifying, not only for me and any injuries that I might suffer, but also for the drivers sharing the road with me.
I leased a new 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sahara from Gengras CJDR in Fairfield, CT. I received two catastrophic recall notices from Jeep on Nov. 24th, 2025 and was notified of a third catastrophic recall when speaking to Jeep Customer Care on Nov. 25th, 2025. The first recall notice, # 68C/NHTSA25V-741, pertains to the car's high voltage battery. The HV battery in my vehicle "may become damaged during normal vehicle operation, which could lead to a vehicle fire. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. Vehicle risk is reduced when the battery charge level is depleted. Accordingly, owners are advised to refrain from charging. Out of an abundance of caution, FCA US is also advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained". FCA US has NO REMEDY at this time. The second recall notice, #A7C/NHTSA25V-710, pertains to the vehicle's HCP randomly resetting, which causes a loss of engine power, regardless of vehicle speed. The vehicle has been updated with "Firmware Over-the-Air" software which may cause incomplete communication between the Telematics Box Module (TBM) and the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP), this condition may cause the HCP to perform a reset. An hcp which resets while driving may cause a loss of drive power which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. FCA US has NO REMEDY at this time. I was advised of the third recall notice when I spoke to Carl, of Jeep Customer Care, on November 25th, 2025. I was assigned case #XXX. I was told the third recall involves remnants of sand and finishing debris of the engine block was found to cause the engine cylinders to seize, causing a loss of drive power and possibly a crash as well. FCA US has NO REMEDY for this recall either. My car is a DEATH TRAP! How can Jeep continue to sell a car like this and not face a class action lawsuit? I refuse to drive the car. Recieved 2 recall notices in the mail. Recall 78C and 68C. Recall 78C safety risk : "A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. A loss of propulsion may result in a vehicle crash without prior warning". There is still no remedy for this as per my call with the dealer on 11/25/25. Recall 68C safety risk: "A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. Vehicle risk is reduced when the battery charge level is depleted. Accordingly, owners are advised to refrain from recharging. Out of an abundance of caution, FCA US is also advising owners of these vehicles to park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained." No parts available for remedy as per my call with the dealer on 11/25/25 Both of these recalls pose a risk to my wife and children that utilize the vehicle.
I'm worried about my safety, with the risk of my car catching fire, there's a problem in the electric motor and battery, potentially two units that can catch fire and harm me, just as I can't fully use the car due to restrictions and lack of a solution from the manufacturer, just as it happened on older models, I'm not sure that this time they really find it.
See attached document for complaint. I want to love my Jeep. However I cannot. How is it that Stellantis corporation and Jeep are allowed by the applicable government agencies to not be responsible to 2024 JEEP 4xe customers for the current safety and depreciation concerns for their 4xe vehicles? The recent email offering a $100 gift card was extremely insulting. My reasons for purchasing Jeep: • Typical resale value of Jeep has been great. o History shows typical depreciation is 30% over 5 years. o My 2024 Jeep has realized 55% depreciation in one model year due to the problems and recalls. o My 2024 4xe has lost value from $62,802 to $28,000 (Kelly Blue Book) in one model year if you can find someone to buy it with the three pending recalls and no fix. • Advertised gas mileage o The window sticker indicates 49 mpg when charged. • The reality is that the highest gas mileage I have seen for the Jeep, even when fully charged, is 21.6 mpg. • Local dealer with a good history of service o Dealer cannot help because they do not have instructions or direction from Stellantis on how to manage the 4xe problems. o Service manager said a 3-week wait for rental. • Pride of ownership. o Jeep owners have a bond and tend to take pride in their JEEP. • It is not safe to park my new Jeep in my garage. • How can I protect it if It must stay outside in the elements. • Safety o Jeeps tend to be safe. However, this Jeep is not. • Battery fires- this has been a safety issue since 27 Sep 2024. • Engine casting problems that can cause catastrophic failure • Pushed software download with errors that caused my Jeep to shut off when driving without warning. • Since pushed download the radio cuts in and out. 3 My questions • Why is the NHFTSA and FTC allowing Stellantis to keep these unsafe vehicles on the road without action, besides announced recalls without a solution? • How does the EPA allow and justify the mileage shown on the window sticker that is not even close to a reality? • Where is the justice to Jeep owners for lack of safet
I was driving on a major 3-lane highway and lost all power to the Jeep. The gas pedal did not work, and the car started to decelerate. The display said "shit to park and press button to start" (or something to that effect). There was no left lane shoulder, so I had to navigate across 3 lanes of traffic while decelerating to try to get to the right lane shoulder, which I eventually did. The car sat on the shoulder for an hour. It would start. The start button did nothing. While waiting for the tow truck for about an hour, it finally started. I drove it home and brought to the shop today. This is completely unacceptable. The car cannot turn off (and tell me to put it into park at 55 mph, which is dangerous in and of itself, let alone having to navigate a busy highway with zero power to the car). There was no crash (as is asked below), but it was nothing short of a miracle that there was no accident.
.I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of two safety recalls affecting my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4-Door 4xe, which I learned about through my “November Vehicle Health Report” email on November 22, 2025. Since then, I have been in ongoing communication with Jeep, Chrysler Customer Care, and Mopar; however, they have not provided sufficient guidance. 1) Recall 68C: The Vehicle Health Report included a link to the FCA recall notice advising owners to “refrain from recharging” and to “park away from structures and other vehicles.” Chrysler emailed on November 26 offering a 30-day rental reimbursement tied only to Recall 68C, but the amount does not cover an equivalent or safe winter-capable vehicle for our region. 2) Recall 78C: I have been unable to obtain clear information regarding Recall 78C. The Vehicle Health Report included minimal details and no link to the FCA documentation. I found the Part 573 Safety Recall Report (25V766) on the NHTSA website while trying to determine if the vehicle was safe to drive. Chrysler Customer Care repeatedly avoids answering whether a “do not drive” advisory exists for 78C and continually redirects me to the 68C guidance. The NHTSA representative I spoke with was also unsure why Chrysler did not select either advisory checkbox (Do Not Drive / Park Outside) on page 3 of the 78C report, leaving owners without essential guidance. 3) Impact on Safety and Daily Life: My household relies on a single vehicle. With no safety guidance for 78C and an engine warning light that appeared on October 3, 2025—along with electric mode not functioning that day, which required service at the Jeep dealership—we determined it was safest not to drive the vehicle. We have now been without transportation for seven days. We kindly ask NHTSA to help us (and other customers) secure clear 78C safety guidance and an equivalent transportation solution until the recall is resolved.
The vehicle experienced a loss of motive power while stopped at a traffic light and would not accelerate when the accelerator was pressed. The failure appears related to the powertrain/electrical system. The vehicle was unable to move and required a restart to regain propulsion. The vehicle remains available for inspection upon request. This failure placed my safety and the safety of other road users at risk due to the inability to proceed through an intersection as expected, creating a risk of collision. The problem has not been reproduced on demand, but it has occurred at least once and is consistent with an active safety recall (A7C) related to loss of motive power. The issue has been discussed with the manufacturer and a dealer, both of whom confirmed that no repair or interim remedy is currently available. The vehicle has not been physically inspected by the manufacturer due to the lack of an available repair. No warning lamps or messages were present prior to the failure, and the loss of propulsion occurred without warning.

While driving at highway speeds, the wheel started to wobble uncontrollably for 20-30 seconds. I lost fine control of steering had maneuver to the shoulder as I reduced speed the wobble immediately stopped. This is extremely disconcerting and dangerous. I noticed this happening months ago but wasn't sure if it was rough patches in the road or speed bumps. But almost losing control confirmed it was the vehicle.
I'm writing to you today concerning the Jeep 4Xe and the dangerous fire prone hybrid batteries. I'm urging you to look further into this problem and possibly consider forcing a full buyback of all 4Xe's. Jeep has issued the 3rd recall regarding fire prone batteries that may have a dangerous hardware defect. The recall again is just a software patch to attempt to identify faulty batteries. The first two recalls did not work as fires continue to happen. The fact is that Stellantis has no idea of what or how many batteries are subject to fire. It is my opinion that they have severely under estimated the true number of defective batteries. They have now stated for the past few years of the fire danger, but have yet to get control of the failures, and still continue to build them with defective batteries. Because of the obvious lack of responsibility on the part of Stellantis, the fact that they continue to knowingly and willingly sell defective Jeeps, I beg you to take a closer look and to consider forcing a buyback of all 4Xe vehicles. Stellantis is dragging their feet at the risk of death to the general public. Stellantis again says to stop charging the vehicle, which is possible, but not everyone will do it, and that also places me and others in an unsafe position due to other's actions. Parking outside and away from structures and other vehicles is not a possibility. Between my 4Xe's and my neighbors, there are four 4Xe's all within range to burn the neighborhood to the ground. How can I trust that others are taking the recommended steps to keep me safe? My 4Xe is now nothing more than a useless brick. When will this end? Please consider my request.
Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe My vehicle has two separate critical safety recalls with no remedy available: High-voltage battery fire risk (vehicle may catch fire even when parked; cannot charge; must park outside). Recall 68C for engine contamination with sand causing catastrophic engine failure, fire, and sudden loss of propulsion. Jeep states that repair parts are unavailable for both recalls. This makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, unsafe to charge, unsafe to park near structures, and unusable for transportation. I am requesting NHTSA intervention to compel Stellantis to provide a remedy or repurchase the unsafe vehicle.
I am submitting this complaint regarding multiple open safety recalls on my Jeep, including two fire-risk recalls that currently have no available repair. Jeep/Stellantis has informed me that they cannot confirm whether my vehicle is safe to drive, and they instructed me to park the vehicle away from buildings, trees, and other vehicles due to the potential fire hazard. I am unable to comply with these instructions because I live in an apartment complex where all parking spaces are close to other vehicles and surrounded by trees. At work, I must park inside a parking garage with no alternate options. I have small children, and if the vehicle were to catch fire, they cannot exit the vehicle independently, which significantly increases the danger. I have contacted the dealership, who confirmed they cannot authorize a rental or loaner for this recall. They instructed me to escalate directly to Jeep Corporate. I have attempted to contact the Jeep recall department by phone and received a “closed” message during normal business hours. I have also sent written documentation to Jeep Corporate and my leasing company (Ally Financial) outlining the safety concerns, my inability to safely comply with the parking instructions, and my request for a rental or loaner. Ally has opened a case to document the issue. At this time, Jeep has not provided a fix or a safe transportation alternative, and I have no safe way to operate or park the vehicle. I am filing this complaint to document the safety risk and request assistance in obtaining a safe transportation solution until Jeep provides a remedy for the fire-related recalls.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe High Altitude currently has two open recalls with no repair remedy available. One of the recalls includes fire risk with instructions to not park the vehicle indoors or near structures. I work in a hospital where I am required to park in a multi-story parking garage with hundreds of other vehicles, so I am unable to comply with Jeep/Stellantis' safety instructions. This puts me, my coworkers, and the facility at risk. Stellantis opened two case numbers for me, one for a potential buyback and one for a rental care request. After multiple calls, I was told to continue to wait and drive the vehicle. Now I am forced to drive a recalled vehicle and park the recalled vehicle daily despite the fire warnings. Stellantis has provided no. safe alternative transportation, no timeline, and no solution. I am being told to continue operating a vehicle that they have acknowledged presents a potential fire hazard, while giving me no ability to follow their own safety guidelines. I am requesting NHTSA assistance because this situation represents a serious safety issue, and Stellantis has not ordered any remedy or safe option while the recall remains open.
While driving on the highway my Jeep lost speed and power steering. All the warning lights flashed on and off while dinging. Dealership can't get a code to see what the problem is to fix correctly. Jeep has 2 dangerous recalls that could catch fire while driving or sitting. Both issues put my life at risk. Stellantis denied buy back.
Recall 78c issued with no remedy in a timely manner. Had to move from HI to CA on military orders and vehicle is stuck in Hawaii until there’s a remedy because it cannot ship with this recall. Manufactures only advice was to leave at dealership until remedy is out. Dealership would not hold our vehicle until remedy is ready.
My Jeep Wrangler 4xe is affected by two open NHTSA safety recalls: 25V-766 (engine casting sand contamination) and 25V-741 (HV battery separator damage). Both recalls involve serious safety risks including fire, sudden loss of propulsion, and catastrophic engine failure. In the official Jeep Owner Portal, both recalls show “remedy not available” and “parts not available.” Jeep also instructs owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from buildings, indicating an active fire hazard. The vehicle cannot be repaired because no remedy exists. The dealer confirmed that repairs cannot be performed. I also experienced abnormal vibrations while driving, which Jeep documented under a separate case number. This issue remains unresolved as well. These defects place occupants and others at risk because the vehicle may lose power without warning or catch fire. Stellantis/FCA has not provided any repair option or timeline. I am requesting NHTSA oversight due to the ongoing safety hazard and the lack of an available remedy.
The contact rented a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while reversing, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed accelerated forward instead, and the vehicle was uncontrollable. The contact stated that the vehicle's speed continued to increase. The brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop. The contact's vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front of the contact's vehicle and pushed the vehicle into a nearby canal. In addition, the contact's vehicle crashed into the canal. No injuries were sustained. The contact stated that everything happened so fast. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The Enterprise Rental Company was contacted. A Police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN unavailable.

Vehicle and purchase details Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe VIN: 1C4RJXR6XRW251767 Purchase date: September 13, 2024 Selling/servicing dealer: AutoNation West Location: Golden, Colorado Key timeline 09/13/2024 – I purchased the vehicle new from AutoNation. By November 2025 – The vehicle had approximately 21,537 miles, still under 24,000 miles. October 2025 – The vehicle was serviced for recall 56C and was out of service for several days. Early November 2025 – Jeep/stellantis announced recall 76C (and also 68C) affecting my VIN, involving significant safety concerns and instructions limiting how the vehicle can be used/charged. At that time, my vehicle had roughly 21,537 miles, well below 24,000 miles. As I understand it, no actual fix was available at that time. Late 2025 into early 2026 – I continued to use the vehicle subject to Stellantis’ restrictions and with the open safety recalls still impacting my ability to use the vehicle normally and its market value. Approximately three weeks before today (around early February 2026) – AutoNation took the vehicle into its shop to perform recall 68C work. The Jeep has now been in the shop for roughly three weeks with no firm completion date. Stellantis is paying for a rental, but it is not comparable to my Jeep. Current status and problems As of February 22, 2026, the Jeep has about 27,900 miles on it. My Jeep is unavailable to me and has been at the dealer for about three weeks; I have no clear estimate for completion or for a final resolution of the safety defects. The combination of unresolved safety recalls (including recall 76C, announced when the vehicle was still under 24,000 miles), limitations on use/charging, and extended time without the vehicle has substantially reduced both my ability to use the vehicle and its trade‑in value. AutoNation has declined to offer a fair trade‑in or a comparable loaner vehicle while repairs drag on.
My vehicle has an open safety recall (Campaign 78C) related to the hybrid system. The manufacturer has confirmed that no repair remedy or parts are currently available, and no timeline has been provided. Despite the unresolved safety recall, I have been informed that I may continue operating the vehicle. I am concerned about the safety risk of operating a vehicle with an unresolved safety recall and no available fix. I contacted the manufacturer (Jeep/Stellantis) to request documentation and review. While a case was initially created, I was later informed that a proactive repurchase is not being offered and that my request for continued review would not be documented or kept open. I am submitting this complaint to document the unresolved safety recall, the lack of an available remedy, and the manufacturer’s refusal to continue internal review of the safety concern. The recall notice did not include a consumer issue date; the date provided reflects when the safety recall was officially posted and became known to me.
On November 13, 2025 at approximately 9:00 A.M. my wife was driving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Prior to making the trip to my wife's cancer appointment, the vehicle was fully charged and had a full tank of gas. Traffic was extremely heavy and was stop and go, in the area of Newton Massachusetts. My wife notified me that a alert came across the dashboard that the vehicle needed to be plugged in. At the time the vehicle had over a half tank of gas and there was no ability to pull over and charge the vehicle. There were no rest stops in the area to even try to address this issue. Without warning the vehicle shut down in the middle of the Massachusetts Turnpike at the height of rush hour morning traffic. My wife, [XXX] daughter, and I were terrified as a 18 wheeler hit his horn and nearly rear-ended us just as the vehicle shut down. The vehicle would not respond to anything. Vehicles continued to blow their horn and we were nearly struck several times. My wife called 911 immediately requesting assistance. The Massachusetts State Police responded to aid, but it was 15 terrifying minutes of angry drivers blowing their horns and we were nearly struck on several occasions. We were stuck for over 30 minutes until the tow truck arrived. I have been a police officer for 19 years and this was more terrifying than any call I responded to in my career. I feared my family was going to be killed. The vehicle was towed to Mc Govern Jeep in Newton Mass. They reported that the battery needed to be replaced and the charging system. Jeep tried to blame this on two recalls, which they do not have a remedy for. McGovern Jeep and my dealership advised me that this was not caused by anything I did as the owner. I religiously serviced this vehicle through my dealership with oil changes and tire rotations. My vehicle had been inspected and was cared for meticulously. Jeep has refused to buy back the vehicle as I refuse to put my family back in that vehicle INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFO

1. The engine in my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is subject to manufacturer Recall 78C. According to the recall notice from Stellantis, the engine may be contaminated with sand from the casting process. This contamination can damage internal engine components and lead to catastrophic engine failure, loss of drive power, or a vehicle fire. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. The recall states the engine could fail catastrophically, potentially causing a vehicle fire or sudden and unrecoverable loss of drive power. If this occurs while driving, it could lead to a crash without warning. This creates a significant safety risk to me, my passengers, other drivers, and property. I am also three months pregnant so it is also putting my unborn child at risk. 3. The safety defect has been confirmed by the manufacturer through Recall 78C. My vehicle is listed as affected by the recall, but there is currently no repair or remedy available. 4.The manufacturer has acknowledged the defect through the recall notice. I currently have an open case with Stellantis regarding this safety recall. The vehicle has not been repaired because the manufacturer states a remedy is still under development. 5. There have been a few times where my check engine light comes on, but then it turns off by the time I go to the dealer. Other than that there have been no warning lights or symptoms. However, the recall indicates that catastrophic engine failure and loss of power may occur without prior warning, which is why the safety concern remains unresolved. The vehicle is currently leased and I am continuing to make payments on a vehicle with an unresolved safety defect and no repair timeline. I have also opened a case with the manufacturer, Stellantis, regarding this unresolved safety defect. Case number: 95368058. This is also the second recall that could cause a fire to the vehicle. 68C recall we did have fixed, but it's trending to be an unsafe and unstable vehicle.
1) ENGINE FAILED IN AN INTERSECTION AND A DRIVE THRU EACH TIME OF FAILURE THE CAR COULD NOT BE PUSHED TO CLEAR THE ROAD 2) THREE OPEN RECALLS HAVE BEEN REPORTED SINCE 10/2025 AND TO DATE THERE IS NO REMEDY 3) SAFETY RECALL DUE TO FIRE HAZARD WITH NO FIX AVAILABLEI HAVE SPOKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER. WITH NO FIX AVAILABLE
I cannot park my car in my garage or in my driveway for fear of the fire. This could happen while I am driving or parked. 2nd is that my Jeep could lose power and my Jeep could stop running while I am driving. This could happen on a highway going 65 MPH causing a crash which could kill or seriously injure myself, passenger and anyone else around. I received a recalls stating these warnings and that there are no fixes for it. I live in a townhouse development. If my car catches fire in my garage of my driveway all the houses will catch fire as well. And the 2nd goes without saying...I don't want to drive anywhere but to and from work. Crazy when I am making huge payments on a vehicle I cannot drive.
I have two open recalls on my 2024 Jeep a wrangler. I’m afraid to drive the vehicle for fear of fire and Jeep stopping at any moment according to the recalls.
2 major safety recalls on the vehicle. Manufacturer advised not to drive the vehicle. No solution provided. No loaner vehicle offered. This is my only vehicle, not driving it is not an option, I need transportation to and from work. I have a family. I am terrified to drive the vehicle, let alone put my kids in it. I have reached out to the dealership, Stellantis and OEM in regards to rectifying the situation with either a loaner vehicle or release me from the lease due to the vehicle not being safe to drive.
Jeep has failed to provide a solution or a refund for the recall 78c for the wrangler 4xe. I am unable to park in my garage or any garage, I’m unable to use the electric features of the hybrid, and I’m uncertain of the fire risk will impact my vehicle. I would like reimbursement for the lack of functionality for the past 4 months. And I would like to turn in the leased vehicle since they still have no solution. I want penalties waived.
I am filing a complaint with regards to the current recalls on the 2024 wrangler 4xe. My concerns are not only is this not a safe vehicle to be driving it is a lease, a lease that will devalue the car. Chrysler Jeep offered me a rental reimbursement which I can not afford due to the timeline they have given me. January for battery and “second quarter of next year” this could cost me over $7,200 (up to $60 a day with a wait time of 6 months to wait for a repair) along with my monthly lease payment and insurance I have to pay on car that I feel unsafe driving I can not afford to pay upfront for a rental. Not sure if this is a breach of contract on their end. To ask someone who needs car for work to drive a vehicle that could catch fire or loose power while driving is unacceptable. There is also an artilcle on wtol.com stating there is a DO NOT DRIVE issued for this particular model published 11/18/25 I want some sort of resolution asap. As of now I am not driving car. Was also told by Stellantis they would tow my car and give me a loaner. They disconnected my call never noted it in my file and when I called back they had no idea who told me that.
Recall Numbers: 25V-741 (Battery Fire Risk), 25V-766 (Engine Casting Contamination) Summary of Issue: I am filing this complaint because my vehicle is subject to two urgent safety recalls, including risk of fire when parked and catastrophic engine failure. Despite contact with Jeep and my dealership, remedies have not been provided in a timely manner. The recalls remain incomplete, and been advised only to park away from structures and refrain from charging — which is not a practical or safe long-term solution. Safety Risk: The vehicle poses a fire hazard even when stationary. Engine contamination may lead to sudden propulsion loss, creating crash risk. These defects endanger both occupants and bystanders. Manufacturer Response: FCA US has acknowledged the recalls but has not provided remedies. Repairs not until 2026 Impact on Daily Life: I am a caregiver for elderly parents [XXX] , [XXX] old) and rely on safe, reliable transportation. The inability to use this vehicle safely has disrupted caregiving responsibilities and created significant hardship. NO longer driving Jeep , due to safety concerns for parents and family Requested Action: I ask NHTSA to investigate Jeep’s failure to provide timely remedies for these recalls and to ensure FCA US complies with federal safety obligations. I also request that NHTSA track and escalate this issue given the urgent fire risk and potential for catastrophic engine failure Jeep currently at dealership (Nov 17, 2025)for Recalls 68C/78C , plus Jeep dying while driving and jolting and taking off and exerting forward down the road. Previous repairs last year 2024 for Engine light remaining on which dealership replaced Charging Module , then Engine Element , Jeep heated up garage for high temperature while charging and extremely hot to touch , these previous issues could all be related to these 2 recalls , so very concerned about my safety . The vehicle is subject to three critical safety recalls with no available remedy: 25V-741 (High-Voltage Battery Fire), 25V-766 (Engine Sand Contamination/Fire), and 25V-710 (Software Loss of Power). Following manufacturer instructions, I have been forced to park the vehicle outdoors away from structures due to fire risk and refrain from charging. For Recall 25V-766, a 'Do Not Drive' advisory has been issued due to the risk of catastrophic engine failure or compartment fire. The vehicle is currently inoperable and unusable as a hybrid. I have presented the vehicle to an authorized dealer, who confirmed that no parts or repairs exist. I have suffered a total loss of use for 42 days. This is a severe fire and crash risk with no timeline for repair.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe has two open safety recalls affecting the high-voltage battery and related electrical systems. The manufacturer’s instructions require that I: • park the vehicle outdoors only, • avoid parking near structures or other vehicles, and • not charge the high-voltage battery. These restrictions make normal use of the vehicle unsafe and impractical. I cannot reliably find isolated outdoor parking at home, work, or public locations. I also cannot use the electric/hybrid portion of the vehicle at all because charging is prohibited. This creates ongoing safety concerns related to potential fire risk and places limitations that prevent normal daily operation. The dealership has confirmed that both recalls are active and that no remedy is available. Stellantis/Jeep Customer Care has also confirmed that there is no repair timeline and instructed me to follow the safety restrictions. Because the vehicle cannot be repaired and the manufacturer offers no solution, I am left with a vehicle that cannot be safely charged, parked, or used in many routine situations. No dashboard warning lights appeared before I received the recall notices; the recall instructions themselves constitute the warning. The vehicle remains in my possession and is available for inspection. I am filing this complaint because the unresolved safety defects, the lack of an available remedy, and the restrictions placed on parking and charging create a significant and ongoing safety risk for myself and others. I am requesting NHTSA’s review due to the manufacturer’s inability to provide a safe, usable, and repairable vehicle.
Jeep 4XE third or fourth recall due to fire safety .URGENT: FIRE RISK WHEN PARKED An urgent safety recall has been issued for this vehicle and the manufacturer has recommended that you follow their instructions on how and where to park this vehicle. More information is available under NHTSA Recall Number 25V741000.Manufacturer Recall Number68C
The 78C recall associated with Jeep Wrangler 4xe's poses a great safety risk to myself, other 4xe owners, and other drivers on the road as it can lead to, "catastrophic engine failure, which can result in a vehicle fire or an unexpected and unrecoverable loss of propulsion." While Stellantis did notify us of this recall, it has already been 3 months since the recall was announced. The initial recall letter stated that the fix was estimated in Q2 of 2026, so another 2-4 months from now, which would be a total of 5-7 months from start to finish. We have not heard any updates on when this remedy may actually come. In my opinion, this is not remedying the issue in a timely manner and it is nerve wracking knowing this could happen whenever I get in my vehicle.
I do not feel safe to operate my vehicle or have it parked at my residence. I have contacted the dealership and they told me to contact stellantis. There’s currently no fix for the fire issue. The original recall months ago I contacted my dealer and I was told my Vin was not on the list. I spoke with the stellantis and they told me that the recall just happened. They had a similar recall months ago. Somehow my Vin wasn’t listed, but now my Vin is listed for the same recall. They also have another open recall where the vehicle shut off completely while driving a friend of mine who has the same exact model color in year has already experienced this. What’s to say that a month from now my vehicle won’t also have that recall and I don’t have an accident on the highway while driving it. I would like the vehicle to either be taken back or to be switched out with a safe vehicle. I fear for my safety and my family Safety owning this vehicle. If I place the vehicle outdoors and follow all instructions, I’m devaluing the vehicle because it is Garage kept and not a daily driver. I also cannot use the feature of electric, which is why I purchased the vehicle, but I am still expected to pay for it and keep this vehicle with an open recall that has no resolution.
