CRANK SHAFT BEARING WENT BAD CAUSING ENGINE TO FAIL IN VEHICLE AND ALMOST GET HIT BY TRAFFIC CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON EVERY MODEL OF MY CAR EXCEPT MINE BECAUSE IT WAS THE GAS HYBRID WHICH STILL HAS THE SAME ENGINE AND PROBLEM AS THE ONES IN RECALL J BOUGHT THE CAR FOR AROUND 13K AND ONLY HAD IT FOR BOUT 3 MONTHS BEFORE THIS HAPPEN DEALER WON'T REPAIR WORK UNDER RECALL BECAUSE IT DOES FALL UNDER THE RECALL FOR MILLIONS OF OTHER BECAUSE IT IS HYBRID AS WELL AS GAS ? DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE AND I GOT SCREWED OUTTA 13K AND COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED AS WELL AS MY 2 KIDS THAT WHERE IN THE CAR WITH ME
PAINT HAS BEGUN BUBBLING AND PEELING IN SEVERAL AREAS. BODY SHOPS HAVE SAID IT IS DELAMINATION.
The paint is bubbling and peeling from the hood, pillars, and the roof. So. Enough that will start to settle in. Kia refuses to acknowledge it is a manufacturer defect.
FOURTH TIME THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED: WHILE AT SPEED, THE ENGINE TURNS OFF AND I GET A HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING. THIS TIME I WAS TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT, SPEED ABOUT 10 MPH. CAR BARELY DRIFTED OUT OF THE DRIVING LANE. I SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE FOR 5 MINUTES. UPON RESTART, ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH THESE ENGINES SHUTTING OFF. IT'S BEEN ABOUT 10 MONTHS SINCE "REPAIR" AT A KIA DEALERSHIP FOR THIS ISSUE. KIA HAS FAILED TO FIX THESE ISSUES AND THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON VARIOUS WEBSITES.
TIRE WENT FLAT THEN BLEW OUT AFTER BEING RE-INFLATED BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

Snow White paint is chipping and peeling on random parts of the car
ENGINE SOUND LIKE ITS ABOUT TO BLOW UP, ENGINE IS KNOCKING VERY LOUD, LOUD VALVES, AND LACK ON POWER WHEN YOU TRY ACCELERATE, HAPPENS ON A HIGHWAY AND THEY NEED TO TOW CAR HOME, IT WAS MY 3 KIDS IN THE CAR, AND IT WAS THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
I LEFT THE DEALER LOT AT CLOSING TIME 2/5/2021 THE TRACTION LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS WARNINGS WERE ON THE ABS LIGHT THE CAR BRAKES SKIDDED UPON APPLYING BRAKES DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED THE CAR SHOOK WHILE APPLYING BRAKES AND IT FELT AS THOUGH THE ENTIRE MOTOR WAS GOING TO FALL OUT . LATER MY 17 YEAR OLD WHOM HAS DRIVEN FOR 2 YEARS WAS DRIVING A FEW MILES FROM HOME SHE SAID THE STEERING WENT OUT THE BRAKES WENT OUT SHE SKID ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD DID NOT HIT ANYTHING YET THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR CAME APART THE FRAME AND ALL . SHE COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN KILLED I WOULD LIKE THIS INVESTIGATED THOROUGHLY. I TOLD HER TO DRIVE SLOW AND SHE WAS ONLY GOING AROUND THE CORNER I HAD PLANNED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING MONDAY BJUT WAS TOTALLED BEFORE I DID. SHE REPORTED GOING 45 MPH ON A ROAD WHEN I HAD THE ISSUES I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 35 TO 45 ON A REGULAR ROAD DID NOT DRIVE IT ON AN INTERSTATE YET DUE TO THE UNEASY WAYS IT WAS HANDELING AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A WRECK IN ALL MY YEARS OF DRIVING AND 1 AND A HALF HOUR DRIVE EACH WAY TO WORK FOR 40 YEARS . THE CAR ALSO FELT AS THOUGH IT WAS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN ALSO'
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A WEEK. HAD APPT TO GO IN 2/2/21 WITH KIA BUT DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE STARTED HEARING A LIGHT TICKING SOUND. WHEN I ACCELERATED ON THE GAS IT DIDNT DO ANYTHING. IT WAS BOGGED DOWN. IT STAYED AT 60 MPH SO I DID IT AGAIN AND STILL THE SAME THING. MY HUSBAND ASLO SAID THAT IT'S BEEN SUCKING OIL DOWN FOR NO REASON. IT HAS 89,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND HAVE IT TOWED TO KIA. I'M STILL CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR WHAT THEY ARE GONNA DO.
ENGINE PREMATURELY USES OIL AND HAD NO INDICATION OF NO OIL. ENGINE HAS KNOCKING AND IS IN LIMP MODE BUT IS NOT UNDER RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH SAME YEAR AND MODEL, HOWEVER HAS SAME SYMPTOMS
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Optima. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under two unidentified NHTSA recalls; however, the recall repairs failed to prevent the failures from occurring. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to a stop as intended. The contact stated that the brake pedal felt spongey and depressed to the floorboard. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
SMELL OF FUEL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE, GOT DIAGNOSED READ CODE P0456 EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM LEAK DETECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT ANOTHER MILE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER - LEV KIA OF FRAMINGHAM (510 COCHITUATE RD, FRAMINGHAM, MA 01701, (508) 879-5555) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE MECHANIC FOUND NO ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE LOST CONSCIOUSNESS WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH WHICH RESULTED IN HER VEHICLE ROLLING OFF THE ROAD AND INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND LANDED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT HAD TO BE CUT OUT OF THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND WAS IMMEDIATELY RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER BACK AND CHEST; AS WELL AS LACERATIONS TO HER RIGHT LOWER ARM AND LOWER ABDOMINAL AREA. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AT THE SCENE AND WAS UNCERTAIN OF ITS CURRENT WHEREABOUTS. THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAD YET TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:17V224000(ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, SHE HAD NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V519000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WHEN TRYING TO EXCELLERATE ON THE GAS TO ENTER ONTO THE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE STARTED BOGGING DOWN AND NOT PICKING UP SPEED. TOOK IT TO O'REILLY AUTOPARTS TO GET THE ENGINE CODE AND IT CAME BACK AS A FAULTY BOOST CONTROL POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.
The paint is defective/chipping. Now, rusting has occurred.
SHAVINGS FOUND IN OIL CAUSING ENGINE SEIZURE
I CURRENTLY OWN 2014 KIA OPTIMA JUST HIT 104600 MILES.I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE EXCEPT MY BRAKE LIGHTS REPEATLY BURNING OUT. I RECENTLY CHECKED MY OIL WHICH WAS A LITTLE LOW I BOUGHT 2 QUARTS AND PUT THEM IN MY CAR. A FEW WEEKS LATER MY OIL LIGHT FLASHED THAN WENT OFF I CHECKED MY OIL AGAIN AND THERE WAS NOTHING ON MY DIPSTICK. FROM THERE I I DROVE 2 BLOCKS TO MY THE OIL CHANGE PLACE DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOME. THE MECHANIC NOTIFIED ME THAT MY ENGINE WAS BURNING TO HOT , AND I HAD LESS THAN A QUART OF OIL LEFT IN MY CAR. I TOLD HIM THAT WAS STRANGE SINCE IVE NEVER HAD ANY LEAKS.HE NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND TO TAKE IT STRAIGHT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE ENGINE IS FAILING . FROM THERE I DID AN OIL CHANGE AND DROVE TO KIA. I DROPPED IT THERE TO BE CHECK AND WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE COULDNT SEE AN ISSUE TO DRIVE IT 1000 MILE AND BRING IT BACK. I PICKED IT UP AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE ABOUT 10-14 DAYS LATER I WAS DRIVING AND ACCELERATED TO GET ON THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR BLEW A BUNCH OF WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAIL PIPE AND LOST POWER FOR A MOMENT AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED MY OIL AND IT WAS VERY LOW AGAIN . I CALLED KIA BACK AND HAD MY CAR TOWED BACK TO KIA DEALERSHIP. AFTER THEY LOOKED OVER THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT MY OIL VALVES INSIDE THE ENGINE WERE BAD AND THAT IT WAS BURNING THE OIL HO. THEY SAID WOULD CONTACT KMA TO SEE IF IT WOULD FALL UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS LATER NOTIFIED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR IT MYSELF AS THERE IS NO KNOCK CODE - OR COMPLETE ENGINE SEIZING, IM CURRENLY UNABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR / AND OWE THOUSANDS ON THE CAR STILL. THIS IS JUST UNFAIR FOR CONSUMERS WHO BUY THERE PRODUCTS.
CAR STOPS, LOSING ALL POWER AND FUNCTION WITHOUT WARNING WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING IT.AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, BUT MOVING SLOWLY TO A STOP ON A CITY STREET. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART, IT DID AND I BROUGHT IT TO KIA DEALER. I BOUGHT THE USED CAR 60 DAYS AGO. IT HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BUT SEEMED FINE. FROM A DEALER. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT ANY MORE, BECAUSE THIS COULD CAUSE A FATAL COLLISION. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. OTHER ISSUES THAT HAPPENED JUST BEFORE THIS HAPPENED: JUST 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, I'D INSERTED A PHONE CHARGER INTO THE USB PORT AND THE RADIO WENT OUT, BUT A MINUTE OR SO LATER, STARTED WORKING AGAIN. IN THE PRIOR TWO WEEK PERIOD, THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND TO STA RTING, NO SOUND, NO ANYTHING. THEN ON THE REPEAT ATTEMPT TO START IT, IT DID. I CANNOT DRIVE THIS CAR NOW, PARTICULARLY SINCE I TYPICALLY HAVE PASSENGERS WHOSE LIVES ARE ALSO RISK.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING ROUGHLY 65 MILES , I HAD LITERALLY JUST GOTTEN ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR JUST WOULDN'T , THE RPMS AND MPH JUST WENT DOWN AND ALL LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH. I HAD TO PULL OVER. I SHUT CAR OFF, CAR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO START SINCE THAT DAY. THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY LOUD NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENED , THERE WAS NO SMELLS. IT JUST STOPPED ACCELERATING & ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT ALL CAME ON. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY FULL OF OIL AND THE FILTER WAS CLEAN. THE CAR HAD COOLANT IN IT, NO LEAKS. I USE THE SAME SHOP FOR ALL MECHANICAL WORK SO HE HAS ALL RECORDS OF MY MAINTENANCE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-4 DOWNTOWN ORLANDO WHEN MY CAR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. I WAS TOLD MY TIMING CHAIN WAS BROKEN. ONLY HAD THIS CAR A YEAR. JUST GOT A OIL CHANGE.
RECALL ON ENGINE WAS REPLACED 2 YEARS AGO FOR HAVING METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL. THE SECOND MOTOR HAS 15,000 MILES ON IT AND IT'S BURNING OIL AND SMOKING TO WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE ANYTHING. I WAS GETTING ON I 65 GOING NORTH AND SMOKE CAME OUT. IT HESITATES TO GO. CAN'T DRIVE IT OVER 45-50. STEERING HAS A RECALL FOR A PLASTIC CUFFLING BEHIND STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS REPLACED LAST YEAR ACCORDING TO RIVERCHASE KIA IN PELHAM ALABAMA. IT IS NOW MAKING A POPPING NOISE AGAIN. CONDENSATION IS GETTING IN TAIL LIGHTS CAUSING THE BULBS TO BLOW. THE HEADLIGHTS WHEN ON DIM YOU CAN BARELY SEE.
AT DRIVING SPEED (ABOUT 50 MPH), VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAS BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ERROR. THE VEHICLE HAS LOSS OF POWER AND SAYS THAT IT MUST BE PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF. THIS ERROR HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DEALER SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE - THE ERROR OCCURS OUT OF THE BLUE AND LOSS OF POWER IS VERY DANGEROUS.
STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND WENT INSIDE TO USE BATHROOM CAME OUT TO START MY CAR ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHED BUT CAR WOULD NOT START. CAR STARTED SMOKING AND THEN WHEN HOOD WAS OPENED THERE WAS ACTUAL FLAMES COMING OUT OF HOOD OF MY CAR AND IT PROCEEDED TO BURN UNTIL FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT IT OUT
A COUPLER ON THE STEERING COLUMN IS DEFECTIVE. IT IS CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE A CLICKING NOISE EVERY TIME THE WHEEL IS TURNED. IF IT IS NOW REPLACED IT CAN CAUSE THE STEERING TO MALFUNCTION WHILE DRIVING.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Optima. The contact stated that the oil level was lower than expected. There was an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle vibrated while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V224000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); and the engine was replaced under the recall in September 2020. The contact stated that 5 years after the recall repair was completed, after approximately one month, the brake failure warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who added brake fluid to the brake reservoir, and the brake warning light illuminated approximately 2 weeks later and remained illuminated. The contact spoke with the dealer, who confirmed that the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 294,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE, VIBRATE AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NATIONWIDE KIA SERVICE CENTER LOCATED AT 20 WEST TIMONIUM RD, TOWSON, MD 21093, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND STALLED DURING A DRIVE AND WAS UNABLE TO START. INTERIOR LIGHTS AND DASHBOARD TURNED ON ALONG WITH RADIO AND WINDOWS BUT BATTERY WAS DAMAGED. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED FROM AN AUTO SHOP, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS ENGINE FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT FROM A MAIN STREET.
HEV LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD STATING "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM. STOP VEHICLE AND TURN OFF ENGINE". VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN CITY ON TRAFFIC LIGHT AND SUDDENLY GOT THAT AND CAR STOPPED IN 15 SEC AND COULD NOT MOVE ANYMORE. LUCKILY IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON HIGHWAY CAUSE 15 SEC IS NOT ENOUGH FOR SAFELY STOPPING! WITNESSES HELPED TO PUSH THE CARD TO THE SHOULDER APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET. ELECTRIC BRAKE SYSTEM WAS LOCKED AS WELL CAUSE OF HEV SYSTEM STOPPED SUPPLING THE POWER. KIA CONCORD REPLACED THE SAFETY PLUG ASSY-MALE 125 AMPS TO 150 AMPS (PART # K 37586 4R002). CAR HAD ONLY 82K. AS FAR I SEE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND IF MANUFACTURER IN ALL CASES UPGRADES IT TO HIGHER FUSE, THEN THIS IS A REASON FOR RECALL. NOW I WARRY ABOUT NEXT ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT CAN CAUSE THAT FUSE.
THE TAIL LIGHT HAS BEEN REPLACE MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE IT GOES OUT ALMOST AS SOON AS I REPLACE IT ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT WATER IS IN THE LIGHT CAUSING IT TO SHORT. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE 2014 WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED.
WHEN DRIVING AT 60MPH MY STEERING WHEEL SHACKS AND IT DOES THE SAME EXACT THING WHEN I RIDE OVER A SPEED BUMP OR JUST HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THERE IS A LOT OF PLAY IN MY STEERING WHEEL AND I CAN HEAR A CLACKING AND CLICKING NOISE WHEN JUST TURNING THE WHEEL. ALSO I'M CONCERN ABOUT MY AIR BAGS COME OUT BECAUSE OF ALL THE SHACKING AND CLICKING THAT'S COMING FROM MY STEERING WHEEL.
My concern is the paint on my 2014 Kia Optima SXL. It is chipping on all areas of my vehicle. I purchased this vehicle brand new on April 19, 2014 and have had all maintenance and recalls updated. I am extremely happy with this vehicle and hope to enjoy it for many years to come. My vehicle has been never through a commercial car wash. I have always hand washed it. I have several chips throughout the car and a large one on the rear pillar. My paint color is snow pearl white. Because of this on-going issue, I feel that I need the repairs done immediately so that I can continue the upkeep and assurance that my vehicle will last for many years.
AFTER RECEIVING AN REGULAR MAINTENANCE OIL CHANGE ON 8/25/20 @3:42PM MY VEHICLE STARTED TO TURN OFF AND ON AND LOUD KNOCKING COMING FROM THE ENGINE SO I IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK TO JIFFY LUBE WHERE I RECEIVED THE OIL CHANGE AND THEY PERFORMED A SECOND OIL CHANGE BAFFLED AS TO WHY MY VEHICLE WAS MAKING THE NOISE AFTER THE OIL CHANGE AFTER THE 2 CONSECUTIVE OIL CHANGE THE KNOCKING WAS WORSE AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP ASAP....AS I WAS GOING TO THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP MY VEHICLE STOPPED REPEATEDLY ON THE HIGHWAY MY 5 YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER AND I WAS TERRIBLY AFRAID PEOPLE WERE HONKING THEIR HORNS SPEEDING PAST AND MY CAR STOPPED UNDER A BRIDGE TURN ABOUT STOPPING TRAFFIC AND IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING AND FRUSTRATING WHEN I MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE MAN TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY @ $140 TO HAVE THE TECHNICIAN LOOK AT IT AND THAT THEY WERE CLOSING AT 5 SO I CALLED AAA TO TOW MY VEHICLE HOME AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS HAPPENED WHEN I KEEP THE MAINTENANCE ON MY CAR...PLEASE HELP, THANK YOU THAT WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY GRAND DAUGHTER
DRIVING 65MPH WARNING COMES ON 'HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE PULL OVER AND TURN OFF' SO I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF THEN IT WOULDN'T START.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Optima. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, he noticed that the low beam headlights were significantly dim. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he was able to continue to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to their location for diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
WE WERE GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY HEADED HOME THE CAR MADE A LOUD NOISE AS WE WERE APPROACHING THE LIGHT ONE I'VE NEVER HEARD BEFORE I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT SO AS WE PULLED OFF FROM THE LIGHT GOT DOWN THE STREET THE CAR JUST LOCKED UP AND SHUT OFF LIKE THERE WAS A FLASH OF LIGHT OR SOMETHING COMING FROM THE HOOD AND IT DIDN'T WANT TO STOP SCARED ME AND MY KIDS SO AFTER I MADE SURE EVERYTHING WAS OKAY I WAITED TIL WE STOPPED PUT IT BACK IN PARK AND TURNED MY KEY BACK OVER TO PULL OVER OUT THE STREET FULLY SO I CAN CHECK IT THERE IT WAS MY ALTERNATOR BRACKET BROKE WITHOUT A CLUE WHY NO PHYSICAL CONTACT OR ANYTHING WHATSOEVER ALTERNATOR IS NOT DAMAGED NEITHER WAS THE BELT ON IT BAD I KNOW THAT WHEN I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THAT'S ANOTHER THING NO ONE NOWHERE COULD GIVE ME AND ANSWER FOR IT SO IT'S LIKE IT OVERHEATED IT OFF AND BROKE THE ENGINE PIECE MY ONLY THEORY NOTHING ELSE IS DAMAGED AROUND IT OR ANYTHING SO THAT'S WEIRD FOR A PIECE TO JUST BREAK SO I DID RESEARCH ON THE KIA OPTIMA AND STUMBLED ACROSS THE OVERHEATION AND THE FUELING PROBLEM.
I EXPERIENCE A BMS WARNING LIGHT ON MY HYBRID VEHICLE INDICATING TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND DO NOT DRIVE. THIS HAPPEN ON THE FAST LANE OF THE 14 FREEWAY IN ACTON CA. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL KIA I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE HYBRID COOLANT A COMPUTER PROGRAM AND A HYBRID DRIVE BELT REPLACED THE COMPUTER PROGRAM. THE UPDATE OF THE PROGRAM I WOULD OF NOT KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE ONLY DEALERS ARE AWARE OF IT. I PAID OVER 700.00 WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR FOR THE REPAIRS. DROVE IT THE NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER AGAIN WHEN I WAS TRYING TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION IN THE CITY OF ACTON. MY CAR ALMOST STOP AND THE HEV WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT RIGHT AWAY. THE SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED ME AFTER A WEEK AND HALF LATER AND TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS THE POWER RELAY ASSEMBLY AND THE HYBRID BATTERY THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. PER REPAIR ADVISER, THIS ISSUE IS A COMMON BUT FOR HIM TO DO THE REPAIRS I WOULD NEED TO PAY 5800.00. HE DID ADVISE TO CALL KIA CORPORATION FOR POSSIBLE ASSISTANCE BUT THEY WERE NO HELP. SINCE I CAN NOT AFFORD THE 5800. I PICKED UP MY CAR AGAIN FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND PAID AN ADDITIONAL 318.00 FOR DIAGNOSE SERVICES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH KIA SINCE THE SERVICE ADVISER TOLD ME HE ONLY HAD A BULLETIN MEMO OF POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH LOSS OF POWER. I ASKED IF THIS WARRANT A RECALL BUT THE ANSWER WAS NO SINCE IT'S ONLY A MEMO AND THE BATTERIES ARE BUILT TO LAST ONLY 150,000 MILES I WAS LUCKY IT LASTED AND ADDITIONAL 18000. MILES. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 3 YEARS AGO AND NOW I'M SITTING ON A GIANT PAPER WEIGHT SINCE I CAN NOT DRIVE MY CAR TO AVOID FURTHER DAMAGE OR POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
THE HEADLIGHTS FAIL, WHILE DRIVING. THE HEADLIGHTS WORK IN DELAY MODE, THE PARK LIGHTS CAN BE TURNED ON AND OFF, BUT THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT WORK CONSISTENTLY. TURN SIGNALS WORK. THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ALWAYS WORK WHILE DRIVING. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE TO 3 MECHANIC SHOPS THEY ALL AGREE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BY KIA.
THE CAR HAS LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY AND KIA DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE SAME AND THEY ARE STILL REJECTING ME TO FIX MY ENGINE EVEN I OFFERED TO PAY A FAIR PART OF THE REPAIR, THE ENGINE IS CONSUMING OIL LIKE CRAZY 1 QUART PER 250 MILES ITS MAKES TICKING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING AND KIA SEEMS LIKE THEY DONT CARE EVEN IF IT HAS A LIFETIME ENGINE WARRANTY
THE TAIL LIGHT'S ON MY VEHICLE CONTINUE TO COLLECT CONDENSATION CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. I HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THIS ISSUE FOR A REPAIR. ISSUE CONTINUES TO OCCUR, AND I'M AFRAID THAT THE LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING CAUSING FOR MY VEHICLE TO BE HIT FROM THE REAR IF THE TAIL LIGHTS ARE WET AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY.
THE FIRST THING MY VEHICLE SAID WAS TO CHECK THE HYBRID SYSTEM AND IT WOULD NOT DRIVE OR REVERSE, BUT THE STEERING AND BRAKES NEVER STOPPED WORKING. HAD TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE STREET MANUALLY. NOW MY CAR IS STARTING TO PUT IN PARK, SHUT OFF AND CHARGE THE BATTERY. I JUST REPLACED THE MAIN BATTERY LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AGO SO I KNOW THAT CANNOT BE THE ISSUE. MY KIA MANUAL SAYS NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND O CANNOT FIND A SOLUTION ONLINE TO THIS PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD ON A NICE SUNNY DAY, AND WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ALL OF A SUDDEN MY ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND I LOSE POWER. MY CAR WON'T START AND I HAD A MECHANIC INSPECT MY CAR AND HE SAYS EVERYTHING CHECKS EXCEPT FOR THE ENGINE. HE SAYS THE ENGINE IS SEIZED. KIA HAS TECH SERVICE BULITEN TSB FOR RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHY MY VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET. THIS IS DANGEROUS.
CLICKING OF THE ENGINE , CAR WON'T GO FASTER THEN 35 MILES AN HOUR
A LOCAL SHOP DIAGNOSED THE CAR AND SAID THE ENGINE SEIZED. BEFORE I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP A LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THAT THE BEARING(S)/ NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND SAID THAT THE ENGING IS VERY CLOSE TO SEIZING. I CALL MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP AND ASKED ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THAT THERE IS ONLY 1 RECALL SHOWING ON THE KIA WEBSITE. I HAVE SCREENSHOTS OF 4 DIFFERENT RECALLS AND 1 OF THEM SAYS BEARING DEFFECT CAN CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. SO IDK IF THEY ARE TRYING TO NOT ENTERTAIN MY RECALL BUT THEY ALSO SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TOWE IT THERE AND THEY WILL DO TAKE CARE OF THE RECALL THAT IS SHOWING UP ON THEIR END WHICH IS NOT THE REASON WHY THE CAR IS DOWN. LUCKILY THE CAR DIED WHEN I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I WAS JUST STUCK ON THE ROAD.

Engine burns a lot of oil. I’ve had my engine oil changed very regularly by professional shops since I bought it new in 2014. I started changing the oil myself after only 2000 miles and noticed only 3 quarts came out of quarts 5 I put in. I changed the pcv valve and it did not solve the problem. There are no leaks. None of the mechanics ever told me my car was low on oil so I don’t know how long it’s been burning oil. I’ve been adding oil regularly in between oil changes since I first noticed the problem. I’m glad I never missed an oil change or my engine could be dead from lack of lubrication.
