TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA OPTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND COOLING). THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL PRIOR TO FILING A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND REMAINED AT THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 KIA OPTIMA LX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE FROM GOING OVER AN EMBANKMENT. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING COMPANY AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER (KIA ATLANTA SOUTH; 7310 JONESBORO RD, MORROW, GA 30260) WHERE IT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BLACK BOX DID NOT CAPTURE THE INCIDENT DETAILS. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE BUT 3 DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE BEING RETURNED, SHE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DETERMINED ON ANY INSPECTIONS PERFORMED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO HER RIGHT SHOULDER AND WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO CAPITAL ONE BANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA OPTIMA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THE STEERING MADE AN ABNORMAL TAPPING AND KNOCKING NOISE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WORLD CAR KIA SOUTH (7915 INTERSTATE 35 ACCESS RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78224, (210) 305-5658) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COUPLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WARRANTY EXTENSION PROGRAM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,389.
A CLICKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END STARTED WHEN THE WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE RIGHT. THIS WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED A JOINT AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER THE NOISE STARTED AGAIN, BECAME WORSE AND THE STEERING FELT LOOSER. THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL ALSO FELT LOOSE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. THEY REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN AND SOME OTHER RELATED PARTS. THIS TIME THE STEERING WAS LOOSER, THEY HAD TO REPLACE A BOLT AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. AS SOON AS I LEFT THE LOT I HEARD THE SAME NOISE BUT VERY FAINT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WASN'T AN ISSUE BUT IT GOT WORSE OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. THE RIGHT WHEEL HAD THE LOOSE FEELING WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AGAIN. BY THIS TIME THE NOISE HAPPENED WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE SAME PARTS AS BEFORE AGAIN. THAT SAME DAY I COULD HEAR THE FAINT NOISE AGAIN, DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS FINE AGAIN. THE CLICKING NOISE BECAME WORSE JUST AS BEFORE AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REPAIR IT. IT HAS BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE THEIR LAST ATTEMPT AND IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. WHEN GOING OVER THE SLIGHTEST BUMP THE FRONT WHEELS HAVE A LOOSE FEELING WHICH IS ALSO GETTING WORSE. THIS LOOSE FEELING IN THE FRONT WHEELS HAPPENS WHEN TURNING AND GOING STRAIGHT. SPEED DOESN'T SEEM TO BE A FACTOR IN ANY OF THE PROBLEMS.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Optima. The contact stated that the steering wheel would jerk and shake. In addition, the steering wheel would vibrate whenever the contact would drive over rough roads. The vibration would omit a loud vibrating noise as well. The vehicle's driver seat would move out of position independently. The contact also mentioned that whenever they attempted to move the seat it failed to adjust accordingly. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated the steering column needed to be replaced along with other parts in connection to the steering. The contact stated that many bolts and screws had detached, as well, that needed to be replaced as well. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 126,170.
AT A STOP LIGHT VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE SAID HYBRID FAILURE TURN CAR OFF AND REMOVE YOURSELF. CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF PUT HAZARDS ON WENT TO GET OUT OF VEHICLE AND WAS SHOCKED BY MY CAR TO THE POINT IT MADE ME LOSS CONTROL OF MY BLADDER!! HAD WONDS TO MY RING FINGER WHERE ELECTRICAL SHOCK WENT IN AND WAS IN LOCAL ER. LOCAL KIA DEALER SAID THERE IS A BULITN TO REPLACE THE 125 WAT FUSE TO THEY HYBRID SYSTEM TO A 150 FUSE AND THAT IS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I FEEL THE DANGER OF ELECTROCUTION IS SO GREAT IT MUST BE A RECALL. I CONTACTED CORPORATE WHO TOLD ME THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND IT IS NOT RECALL WORTHLY!! NOT ACCEPTABLE I SPENT 5 HRS IN THE ER WITH EKG , AND BURN MARK'S ON MY LEFT FINGERS AND. NOW MY SKIN IN MY LEG IS PEELING DUE TO THIS. ACCORDING TO ER DR. I WAS LUCKY AND MOST LIKELY RECEIVED 100 VOLTS ANYMORE COULD HAVE CAUSED INTERNAL ISSUES. MY LEFT ARM IS STILL TINGLING FROM THE SHOCK DAYS LATER. IT IS COMPLETE INCOMPETENTS TO ALLOW KIA OPTIMA HYBRID OWNERS DRIVE THESE CARS WITH A WAIT AND SEE ATTITUDE. PLEASE PUT A SAFTY RECALL OUT BEFORE A CHILD ENDS UP HURT OR DECEASED.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE KIA OPTIMAS FOR THE TOD BEARINGS IN THE ENGINE. I HAD THE RECALL DONE ON APRIL 8 2019. AS OF 7/22/19 THE SAME CODE P1326 AND SYMPTOMS ARW ARE HAPPENING AGAIN WHICH ARE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING THE CAR IS IN LIMP MODE THE CAR WAS SMOKING AND IT CAN'T GO OVER A CERTAIN SPEED
DRIVING TODAY ON INTERSTATE 20 IN SOUTH CAROLINA AT 70 MPH AND CAR JUST SUDDENLY CUT OFF. HAD TO WAIT 31/2 HOURS FOR TOW THROUGH KIA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IN 95 DEGREE WEATHER. CAR WILL NOT START, HAD BATTERY CHECKED BUT CAR WON'T DO ANYTHING, ALL DASH LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, RADIO ALL WILL COME ON BUT THE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER TO CRANK.

DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HIS HOME AND ANOTHER MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED HIM TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. TRIPLE J AUTO GROUP (470 NORTH, MARINE CORPS DR, TAMUNING, 96913, GUAM) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH HE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.*DT
NOTICED THE SHARK FIN MISSING. AFTER CLOSER EXAMINATION IT APPEARS THAT IT SNAPPED OFF TO REPLACE THE HEADLINER MUST BE REMOVED I ORDER A NEW ONE AND I AM UNABLE TO REPLACE IT. TAKING TO DEALERSHIP AND HOPEFULLY THE WILL IT WHEN CHECKING ON MY STEERING ISSUE.
OUR CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. IT RESTARTED BUT NOW FAST FORWARD TO A FEW DAYS AND IT HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AGAIN AND REQUIRES A TOW TO A DEALER. WE TRIED TO EXPLAIN LAST YEAR THAT THIS CAR WAS HAVING ENGINE TROUBLE THAT INCLUDED REVVING WITHOUT BEING ON GAS AND BOGGING DOWN. DEALER KEPT TELLING US THERE IS N O RELATION TO THE RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED. STRANGELY ENOUGH THE CAR JUST PASSED OUT OF WARRANTY BY 6000 MILES AND HERE WE ARE WITH NO CAR. KIA SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL EVERY 2014 OPTIMA. WE VERY NEARLY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND THE DEALER IS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. COLLUSION?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA OPTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, WHITE SMOKE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PEAK KIA NORTH (1111 S. GATE DR, WINDSOR, CO) WHERE THE ENGINE WAS FLUSHED, BUT THE FAILURE REMAINED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT NO SERVICE CODES WERE PRESENT. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED THE REQUEST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND NOTICED MY CAR HESITATING TO GO OVER 20. LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO CUT OFF MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT BLINKING ON AND OFF. I TOOK IT UP TO AUTO ZONE NEAR ME AND A CODE READ MY ROD BEARING IS DEFECTIVE. I HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE, IT GOT LOUDER AS I DROVE THE CAR ON THE ROAD.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY STARTED TO MAKE A WEIRD NOISE. AS I ACCELERATED TO GET OVER TO EVENTUALLY PULL OVER MY CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND. AS I OPENED THE HOOD YOU COULD DEFINITELY TELL THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE I LOOKED ONLINE AND THEIR WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO HAVE THE 1803 SOFTWARE UPDATE DONE LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AGO. I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM VACATION GOING APPROX. 80 MPH THE CAR CUT OFF AND SEVERAL DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, MY CAR WAS DECELERATING, I NEEDED TO MOVE ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD! IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MIRACLE I WAS NOT HIT OR SOMETHING CATASTROPHIC HAPPENED. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE DONE. HE WAS VERY TRANSPARENT AND EXPLAINED THE 1803 SOFTWARE UPDATE TO ME. IDEALLY THE CONCEPT IS TO SET THE COMPUTER SO THE ENGINE WILL SHUT DOWN TO AVOID PISTON OR OTHER PARTS TO GO THROUGH THE ENGINE. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE RAISES THE SENSITIVITY LEVEL TO DETECT AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE, NOT NECESSARILY TO CORRECT OR STOP IT FROM HAPPENING BUT WAS TOLD THE UPDATE IS DONE SO IT WILL NOT CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC SITUATION TO THE ENGINE! SERIOUSLY?!! IT DID CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC SITUATION, I WAS LUCKY TO NOT HAVE BEEN KILLED! MY CAR SITS 2 HOURS AWAY, 2 1/2 DAYS LATER AND NO ANSWERS. I CALLED TWICE, I HAVE BEEN TOLD I SHOULD HAVE SOME ANSWERS TODAY AROUND 2 PM. I ASKED HOW I WILL GET MY CAR, I WAS TOLD KIA DOES HAVE A "REUNITE" PROGRAM BUT SEEING AS IT IS W/IN THE SAME STATE IT MAY NOT BE APPROVED TO GET MY CAR DELIVERED! KIA IS JOKING, RIGHT? MY CAR (OBVIOUSLY) IS HAVING MAJOR ISSUES AND RESEARCHING ISSUES AND REPORTS ONLINE APPEAR TO POINT TO THE ENGINE. IS THERE A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT GOING ON RIGHT NOW? I AM GOING TO LOOK INTO THIS AND PRETTY SURE I WON'T BE PURCHASING ANOTHER KIA EVER AND WILL BE TELLING NUMEROUS PEOPLE AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS ABOUT THIS HORRIFIC STORY THAT COULD HAVE ENDED TRAGICALLY FOR ME. P.S. WHEN I CONTACTED KIA FOR A TOW I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 90 MINUTES, I SAT IN 98 DEGREE HEAT ON SIDE OF ROAD FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF! THANKS KIA! P0705 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WAS OCCASIONALLY GETTING STUCK IN PARK AND HAD TO BE STOPPED / STARTED TO GET OUT OF PARK. VERY DANGEROUS. TOOK CAR TO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE NEUTRAL SWITCH. THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE FOR OTHER KIA OPTIMAS BUT NOT THIS CAR'S YEAR. I STRONGLY BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER A RECALL NOTICE. I STILL HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PART IF NEEDED.
I WAS ON INTERSTATE 95 WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAD TO GO ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO GET OFF A EXIT TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. I TURNED IT OFF AND IT WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. A WRECKER TOOK IT TO A BODY SHOP AND MY MOTOR SEIZED UP DUE TO BEARING WEAR. I WAS SO TERRIFIED AND HOPING I COULD GET OVER AND OFF THE EXIT SAFELY. I AM JUST SHY OF 90,000 MILES, BUT HAVE ONLY HAD IT SINCE AUGUST. I HAVE READ MANY REVIEWS AND POST ABOUT THE RECALL IN THE 2014 KIA OPTIMA MOTORS AND I HAD THE SAME ISSUES.
BRAKE REAR LIGHTS WENT OUT, CHANGED BRAKE SWITCH AND FUSE AND LIGHTS STILL NOT WORKING. ONLY HAVE 49800 MILES ON THE CAR. WAS ON HIGHWAY AND A MAN STOOED ME AND LET ME KNOW THEY ARE NOT WORKING
AFTER BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE ACCELERATION CUT OUT AND THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A GRINDING/ CRANKING NOISE. I ROLLED TO A STOP JUST PAST THE INTERSECTION (LUCKILY NO ONE HIT ME) AND HAD TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF. IT RESET AND EVERYTHING BEGAN WORKING AGAIN AFTER RESTARTING IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PEP BOYS WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN ALIGNMENT WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,901.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE 2014 KIA OPTIMA EX. THE VEHICLES ENGINE SHUTOFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR, THANKFULLY AT A SLOW SPEED IN A SHOPPING PLAZA PARKING LOT. THE DASH LIGHTS WORK, BUT THE ENGINE WILL NOT START. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A SHOP WHO FOUND THE STARTER HAD BEEN FRIED AND REPLACED IT THINKING IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT THE NEW STARTER WAS FRIED AS WELL AND UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION THEY REALIZED THE ENGINE HAS COMPLETELY SEIZED. KIA WHILE HAVING RECALLS FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON OTHER KIA OPTIMA VEHICLES WILL NOT REPLACE MY ENGINE, LEAVING ME WITH A FINANCIAL MESS. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN INVOICE FROM THE SHOP AS OF YET DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING DRIVABLE AND MY ATTEMPTS TO FIND A WAY TO FUND THE REPAIRS, BUT WILL RETAIN THE INVOICE ONCE RECEIVED.

MY KIA OPTIMA KILLED WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD CAUSING ME TO SCRAPE THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND IT STARTED SMOKING FINDING LEAKING OIL AS WELL OVER A YEAR AGO AND MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP STORAGE BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THERE WASN'T A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR AN ENGINE . I HAVE COME OUT OF POCKET FOR TRANSPORTATION FOR MONTHS AND HAVE HAD TO PAY A STORAGE FEE NOT KNOWING THEY WERE CHARGING ME UNTIL HEARING FROM KIA CONSUMERS . NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN A RECALL IS POPPING UP WHEN I LOOK UP MY VIN AND EVEN MY INSURANCE COMPANY ALERTED ME THAT THERE ARE IN FACT 3 RECALLS ON MY CAR. I AM OUT OF A JOB BECAUSE OF NOT HAVING TRANSPORTATION AFTER COMING OUT OF POCKET OVER 3,000 FOR A RENTAL I COULDN'T SPEND ANOTHER DIME OF MY SAVINGS FOR MY FAMILY'S HOLIDAYS AND EMERGENCY STASH. I'M NEVER LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING BUSINESS WITH KIA AGAIN. I'VE BEEN SO STRESSED MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY AND I'M STILL PAYING A CAR NOTE FOR A CAR I CAN'T DRIVE

ONCE RESTARTED, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER, BUT HAD COMMUNICATION ISSUES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

'KIA PEARL WHITE PAINT RECALL' I HAVE HAD MY KIA OPTIMA FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS. I AM FROM THE SOUTH AND I DROVE IT UP NORTH A FEW WEEKS AGO AND ICE AND SNOW GOT ON MY CAR AND MY PAINT HAS STARTED PEELING. IT'S $2,000 TO GET THE HOOD AND THE DRIVERS SIDE PANNEL FIXED AND ALL KIA TOLD ME IS THEIR PAINT WARRANTY ENDED IN 2016. I DID NOT EVEN OWN THE CAR AT THAT TIME. THIS IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THE WAY THEY PAINTED THE CAR. NO 2014 CAR SHOULD BE LOSING PAINT FROM DRIVING UP NORTH FOR A FEW DAYS. I ALSO CALLED KIA AND THEY STARTED A 'CASE' THEY TOLD ME TO SUBMIT A QUITE. I SUBMITTED THE NEXT DAY AND A FEW DAYS LATER THEY SAID THEY DECLINED MY REQUEST AND THEIR REASON WAS BECAUSE THE PAINT WARRANTY ENDED IN 2016. ALL PEARL WHITE PAINT CARS NEED TO GET THEIR CARS COMPLETELY REPLANTED. IF THIS IS NOT A COMMON CASE PLEASE GOOGLE THE PAINT ISSUES ON THIS CAR. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE. I NOTICED MY 2014 KIA OPTIMA'S ENGINE KNOCKING A FEW MONTHS AGO. I ONLY NOTICED BECAUSE I WAS PARKED AND STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO KIA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THERE IS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE BEARINGS AND IT WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. THEY KEPT THE CAR A COUPLE OF DAYS, SAID THEY COULD NOT HEAR IT KNOCKING AND SENT THE CAR BACK TO ME. ON 2/12/19 I ONCE AGAIN WAS PARKED AND STEPPED OUT OF MY VEHICLE TO HEAR IT KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY. I TOOK OUT MY PHONE AND RECORDED THE NOISE, EMAILED KIA DEALERSHIP AND TOOK THE CAR IN THE NEXT DAY. THEY LISTENED TO THE VIDEO AND WAS ALARMED AT HOW LOUD AND BAD THE KNOCKING WAS. THEY KEPT THE CAR ABOUT 12 DAYS AND ARE NOW SAYING MY VIDEO IS NOT RELEVANT BECAUSE I DID NOT GET THE VIN # IN THE VIDEO AND THEY STILL CAN'T HEAR A KNOCKING SOUND. AT THIS POINT I'M WORRIED TO DRIVE THE CAR. I'M AFRAID THE ENGINE COULD LOCK UP WITHOUT WARNING, BUT I AM ALSO NOT IN A POSITION TO BUY A NEW CAR OR TRADE. IF THEY WOULD JUST REPLACE OR REPAIR THE ITEM RECALLED THAT WOULD BE GREAT, BUT KIA DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THEIR RECALL FOR ME. 2014 KIA OPTIMA HYBRID COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DECELERATING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE CAR DISPLAYED A FAULT ON THE SCREEN AS A "POSSIBLE BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAILURE." WHEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN. HAD LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL (ELECTRICAL/OPTICAL STEERING). HAD TO SLOW TO STOP, PLACE TRANSMISSION SELECTOR IN PARK BEFORE THE CAR WOULD ALLOW RESTART. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 3 HOURS THEN EXTINGUISHED BY ITSELF. BMS WAS UPDATED AT COST TO CUSTOMER.
MY BOYFRIEND AND I TOOK A TRIP ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON ABOUT 35 MINUTES FROM HOME. WE STOPPED JUST OFF THE HIGHWAY FOR LUNCH AND AS WE EXISTED THE PARKING LOT WE NOTICED A KNOCKING NOISE. WE CONTINUED DRIVING BUT THE KNOCKING WAS WORSENING. WE PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THE BEARINGS BEGAN TO MAKE A NOISE AND THE CAR SPUTTERED AS WE REACHED THE EXIT. WE BARELY MADE IT TO A GAS STATION WHERE WE PARKED THE CAR AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. TWO DAYS LATER WE TRIED TO START THE CAR AND THE ENGINE HAS LOCKED UP. I'VE CONTACTED KIA SUPPORT AND THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED, I'VE ALSO CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME RESULT.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON..CANNOT PASS INSPECTION
THERE IS A RECALL ON OUR 2014 OPTIMA ON THE ENGINES. WE DID THE INITIAL RECALL CHECK WITH OUR DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY DEBRIS IN OUR ENGINE; AS IT PASSED ACCORDING TO THEM. THEN DEC 2018 WE GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND OUR DEALERSHIP DID AN UPGRADE RECOMMENDED BY KIA...OUR ENGINE SHOWED FAILURE..CODED THE CODE THAT INDICATED A NEW ENGINE WAS REQUIRED. KIA FORCED OUR DEALERSHIP TO PUT A HARNESS ON THE SYSTEM. OUR ENGINE FAILED AGAIN JAN 23, 2019..STILL NO ENGINE. KIA IS NOT APPROVING A NEW ENGINE YET...STILL WORKING OUT THE ISSUES. CAR LOSES ALL POWER....IN STALE MODE

THE ENGINE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STALLED RESULTING IN A COLLISION WITH A TELEPHONE POLE. I HAD JUST MADE A TURN & THE CAR WENT DEAD. STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKED UP. NOW MY CAR IS COMPLETELY TOTALED NOT TO MENTION THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY FIANC WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN A FRACTURED HIP.

I CALL ROADSIDE ASSIST AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST KIA DEALERSHIP. WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP
I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON. MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN A MAJOR ACCIDENT THAT CAUSED THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY. I CALLED KIA TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE I'M STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THEY TOLD ME I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING THE PROBLEM REPAIRED.
